He is alright. He does explain very well. But does not have a personality. He does not take attendance. He doesnt know any of his students names. But he is very helpful. He goes over the homework every class and is always willing to work with you and answer questions.

Not a very good teacher. EXTREMELY helpful and nice. Very willing to help during office hours. His tests are his homework problems just with different numbers.

He is good at Explaining problems. He gives examples for each type of problem which helps alot. Never expect him to smile, laugh or joke. Tests are easy but you have to be very precise with your answers. He is always ready to cut your points. If you have another professor as an option, it is better to go for him rather than taking Matagrano.

Matagrano is GREAT!! For me, he made me understand every concept of his teachings, taking the time 2 answer all questions asked in class, before moving on with the syllabus. D'uh .. u gotta put in some extra time 2 study if you wanna pass, so rating him for issues like his breath or personality is petty. FYI I got an A in Alg & a juicy B+ in Calc!

I liked his class because it was straight to the point, and so were his tests. As other reviewers have stated, he is dry, and so class can drag, but it is MATH! So I don't really expect anything otherwise. I did fairly well for messing up the first test because I didn't study, or do the homework, but once I put some effort into it, I did well.

I'm not so good at Math, but with him you'll understand everything! He explains very well!!! He gives problems in class that are similar on the tests. Tests are NOT so hard, it's easier than you do in class.!!! I really liked him!! Take him!

a great professor for calc. he explains things very well. i was so scsred to take cals II because a lot of people said that it's the hardest course. but i totally disagree with that now. take this professor and you will love math.

I just took his class this past semester and i felt he was an EXCELLENT prof. Even tho every class is a new topic b4 he moves on to his lecture he asks if any1 has any questions on the hw he assigned last class. Plus the hwk isn't mandatory! There's 5 tests and the lowest grade is dropped. He's really boring tho but makes up for it w/ ez tests.

Everyone who attends to his lectures and does the homework right after it was given should pass his class. He is polite and stops with the lecture when someone has a question. I took precalc with him and i got A- just from doing the homework. I am taking Calc I with him and the things are the same. He gives 5 tests and the lowest grade is dropped.

Go to class,take all notes, do the homework after each class and make yourself an outline of the chapters while studying them and you wont have any problems.5 tests given,lowest score is dropped. He answers all questions and makes everything clear to everybody. I recommend this guy to everyone.I have the whole course in my head :)

Very good professor. Explains things clearly. only thing to note is that he is very impersonal. He won't learn names so it won't effect grading and his tests are on scantrons so you get no partial credit

The subject sucks but he is the best math professor I've ever had. He thoroughly explains everything step by step and doesn't move on to the next subject until everyone understands. He gives good notices for tests and lets you use a sheet of notes. Doesn't check hw but I would recommend doing it(even though I didn't)

Overall good professor, but I would not take if youre bad at calc. he doesnt grade homework, which means youll never do it, and tests are super hard with no review. i have a 4.0 gpa and currently have a D in this class. hes very clear but you need to apply yourself more, because he will not push you. no other grades besides tests, which is horrible

Attendance and homework is not mandatory but it is critical that you do the homework and attend class, it helps a lot. This professor was very clear with his explanations and he will answer any questions you have, especially about the homework. I personally think he was great for Calc!! goodluck :)

The course material (Calculus 1) was very interesting. The professor's explanations were very clear. He really knows his stuff. The tests were fairly easy for me, but I'm a Math major. The textbook (Briggs) might be a bit hard for non-Math majors.

I had him for Linear Algebra. The course was enjoyable.

Great Professor, goes the extra mile to explain something to anyone and tests are easy as long as you put in at least 4 to 6 hours of study.

This was an online Algebra class. All the work for the course including the tests were through ALEKS. He does not require you to travel to campus to take tests which was good for me since it's hard for me to get to campus. He is prompt with email responses. If you put the time (a lot) in to complete the ALEKS pie you can get the grade you want.

I took precalc online. We used ALEKS. The pie counts as 50%, tests 20% and final 30%, so you HAVE to do the pie work. He lets you take tests online 3 times and uses the highest score. The pie is a lot of work, but it's great if you are a bad test taker like me. I would take Dr. Matagrano again for an online course.

Great Internet class if you like ALEKS, otherwise look somewhere else.

Professor Matagrano is one of the best kept secrets of the math department at MCC. This man is a genius. Impeccable teaching, crystal clear explanations and a contagious passion for teaching. I wish more mathematics professors were like him.

Professor Matagrano is a really great guy. I know he can come off as completely indifferent, to literally everyone, even if you participate regularly and approach him after class. However, I missed the final exam (completely my own fault with no valid excuse) and he allowed me to make it up AFTER the semester was over.

Dr Matagrano's passion for mathematics is absolutely contagious. Gives a complete, thorough, comprehensive and a rigorous treatment to the subject. I wish Dr Matagrano would teach more courses and I would take any course taught by him in a heartbeat.

Dr. Matagrano taught a very interesting Linear Algebra class. Tests are straightforward. Tests contain lots of true/false questions, so make sure you know the theory as well as how to compute things.

i got a late start with this online course and prof matagrano was nice enough to extend the aleks test deadlines for me.

aleks marked me wrong on a test question which i got right and after emailing prof he promptly changed the score for me (thanks!). easy A if (big if) you do all the aleks pie work (lots of it!).

Plus: You don't have to go to class and you can work from home. Minus: Be prepared to spend loads of time in front of your computer doing Aleks. Not a course for procrastinators.

Aleks is only alot of work if you try to do it all at once at the end of the term which I think some reviewers are trying to do. I did a little aleks work every day and I finished the course several weeks before the end of the course. Dr. Matagrano is prompt answering email and will extend aleks test dates for you if you ask.

Take Prof. Matagrano's online course if you are bad at taking tests. He lets you take each test on aleks 3 times, including the final. You can use the first attempt for practice. I messed one test up badly and he gave me a 4th attempt.

He is giving a great Linear Algebra class so far. He is the first math professor I had that actually proves the theorems in class. However, he lets the class decide if we will have proofs on the tests. He doesn't leave us hanging as he does all the HW proofs that he assigns for us. This is a very good class for learning to write proofs.

Finished the course by midterm. Prof Matagrano lets you take tests/final exam online as early as you are ready to.

I signed up for an online class so I wouldn't have to come to the campus. Unlike other professors, Dr. Matagrano lets you do all work (plus tests) from home. 5 stars, nuff said!

Took algebra over winter session online. We used ALEKS, but only had 3 weeks to do all the work. I like that we could work at any times of day including at nights. There was no attendance required. Emails responses from prof were pretty quick (the next day).

I took algebra 2 (regular) last semester and failed. I then took the course with Dr. Matagrano online over winter session and got an A. No driving to school in the snow!!!

took him for online pre calc and i must say he makes the course extremely easy. 50% grade is Aleks coursework and is all due at the end of semester- no specific deadlines and 50% is tests which are exactly like the coursework assignments. If you don't pass you're an idiot. I recommend him to EVERYONE i can. I've taken him for 3 different classes.

Its a very easy online class, but you HAVE TO DO THE WORK! You have the whole semester to do the work on aleks but its easy to finish this course up pretty quickly. If your lazy or unmotivated, your gonna have a hard time.

How can you not get a great grade in this course? Just do the whole ALEKS pie as Dr. Matagrano bases 1/2 of your grade on it. You don't have to be a great test taker!

This is hands down the best math professor at MCC. His lectures aren't boring and he is very easy to follow. He breaks everything down and makes it simple and clear. To make it even easier he allowed us one page of notes front and back for each test. If thats not enough for you, each test was 20 questions, multiple choice, and he gives 5freeanswers

He's a nice a guy, you just have to talk him, I went to his office hours and he helped me. Also he is a great teacher, very clear as to what he wants. I took him for 129 B and got an A. He's totally chill, but you have to be on his level to relate to him. I went to the last day of class and I asked him questions for an hour, and he was awesome.

As soon as you do ALEX pie, which is 50% of your grade, you are going to pass this class. This course has 8 tests-30% in total and the final 20% . All tests you can take up to 3 times . All work is online even the final.

Prof Matagrano is great. His way of explaining things is so clear. It's clear he loves math and he ALSO loves teaching. He's a really nice guy too. The best math professor at mcc. You have to actually try to fail his class to fail. Makes sure you understand the material before giving tests. Will go in depth on the material during lecture and goes over homework questions until you understand it. Very good prof for a county college.

Prof. Matagrano is the best math instructor at MCC. His love for math is reciprocated in how amazingly informative his lessons are. You will learn a lot and he gives you everything you need to succeed. Calc 2 is not an easy course but he made it enjoyable to learn. There is never a boring lecture with him and he teaches the material wonderfully.

I used to just show up for Reviews and got an A. Half the class did the same. His reviews are basically the exams with different numbers and variables. And he allows a full sheet of paper during the exam. Just write his review on that paper and watch yourself get an A. I could take 4 Math courses in 1 semester from him and A them all. Best Prof.

you'll use myopenmath for hw/tests. each problem has a link to a youtube video that will show you how to solve the problem step by step, watch the videos they are extremely helpful. easy A and you'll learn a lot.

Prof. Anthony is a great teacher. I had him for Mat 129 online easy class and well put together. There is no textbook everything on myopenmath. If you fail it is simply because you are LAZY!

Dr. Matagrano class was super easy but I learned a lot. I had him for pre-calc and there is no way you can fail. He uses MyOpenMath which gives you three attempts on each question. MyOpenMath is practically your teacher but the website does a great job at explaining everything. As long as you do your work your work you will get an A+

From my experience, I used my open math to complete all assignments, including quizzes and tests. I never emailed the professor because the website was very user-friendly and easy to learn. The questions even included short videos to learn how to solve them step by step. I would definitely recommend this class.

This man was a saint in pre calc. Gives no graded homework for practice, and let you take tests with one sheet of notes. And you could literally write every single problem on that sheet and it would be fine. Make sure you get this guy at midnight when class registry opens!

I love professor Anthony matagrano because of how many options he gives you. You can come to each lecture or you can either speed through the course. He also gives you many chances if you miss the test date. You have to be lost in the clouds to mess up this class

Great professor, available outside of class and assignments are very clear and objective.

I had his fully online course. So we used Myopenmath. Each question ahs a video demonstration which is helpful and he has a practice test that mimics the test prior. The setup is super helpful. All assignments are due at the end of the semseter and he's flexible with due dates. It's a good helpful class.

Took him for pre cal and calculus . I have never failed with him . He uses my open math. He’s great. Only 4 tests and hw but he gave us a month to complete them all. Take him.

An excellent introduction to linear algebra. Professor Matagrano does a wonderful job of balancing the theoretical aspects of linear algebra with applications. He is very passionate about mathematics and it reflects in his lectures. Highly recommended!!

I took precalc class online via the internet. You don't have a meeting, just do your work on MyOpenMath and the due date for all the homework by the end of the class. You just have to do chapter tests on a specific due date. When you need any help with the homework or test, you can ask the professor and he is very helpful. I recommend it!

I would recommend his online course if u r good at math because all things r based on self-study. The assignments are unlimited try and once every 2 weeks, you will have a test. there r 7 chapters in pre-calculus and there will be an exam at end of each chapter. the assignment has unlimited tries and all questions have video examples. Easy A

Taking this class is one of the smartest things you can do, you cannot fail! Take this class if you need it for a pre-req. Everything is on myopenmath, with 7 tests, one final, and a whole lot of assignments with infinite tries. Professor seems like a nice guy as well and responds to all questions via email very quickly.

Easiest math class I've ever taken. It's all on MyOpenMath. 5 Units and the Final Exam. Each unit is just the homework and the test, witch multiple tries for each problem. Nearly impossible to get anything less than an A on. It takes a little while, but it's soooo easy! Take this prof, you won't regret it!

This is the professor you need to take if you don't want to stress about getting bad grades but Straight A's. He gives a ton of opportunities and you will end up with A no matter what.

Easy, you have to try hard to fail this class. Super sweet, my final grade was an 87.5, and he rounded it up to an A.

Taking this course online, I wasn't sure of what to expect. I loved this course on math. The assignments all had very good math videos that gave me confidence in what I was learning. Would definitely take another class with this professor. My final course grade was 88.9%. Homework takes 50% of the grade weight, which I think is great!

Very hands off, but still accessible. No problems as long as you do the work and take the tests on time. He communicates well.

Great and communicative professor which is important for an online course. Classwork is challenging but streamline thanks to the videos the professor provides on MyOpenMath and if you're stuck with any problems you can contact the professor and he replies back same day or tomorrow. Highly recommend if you aren't great with math.

Professor Matagrano's online MAT129 course is a great option. The clear curriculum, helpful video demos, and flexible deadlines make it manageable even for those struggling with math. Unstuck AI also proved useful for study prep.

I appreciate that he allows you to take control of how fast you want to finish his class. Homework assignments were not heavy, and paired with videos on how to's. Tests were fair and I appreciated the practice test so you can get a feel of the actual test. Even though the practice tests aren't grades please take them so you know what to expect .

PLEASE TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! All work is done in my open math and you get unlimited tries so its impossible to fail. You can also work at your own pace. Much love to professor Matagrano!

He is so sweet, I took his hybrid class, all the assignments were on myopenmath with multiple tries, so there's no reason for you to fail this course. Also, if you are taking his class and at least please try to be respectful and not use your phone right in front of his face, that is very rude. Respect his time and effort.

IF HIS CLASS HAS VACANCY, TAKE IT! TAKE IT! Professor Matagrano is a gem and knows how students get tired of listening to lectures and stuff. Matagrano is by far the best professor I have ever had. So caring and would ends lectures 50 minutes early so we could work on the MyOpenMath problems and use that 50 minutes of time to ask any questions, and if we didn't have any, we were free to leave early. Such a cool dude and really cares about his students.
