Wow! What a great professor. He got me to understand things that usually would be way above me. I loved his clear methods of teaching. He wants to help students succeed.
I like him a lot. He's very nice and helpful when I have questions. I enjoy the book and think it's a great read. I have yet to go to a star party, but I'd think they would be fun.
If you are looking for a good instructor for a Science-General Ed this is the guy to take a class from. Tests are pretty easy if you have attended the lectures and do the homeworks. Friendly guy too!
Tony is the man! hes way helpful and he takes time to explain things to class. sometimes hes hard to understand because of his accent, but that can be overcome if you just listen.
He is a great teacher. He is able to keep the students involved and interested in the subject matter. Before class begins every day, he writes the main topics on the chalk board which makes it much easier to follow along and keep track of the subject matter. I highly recommend him as a professor.
he is so awsome. he is easy too. i have been reading about the universe since i was a kid and he is better than any book.
He taught well. I enjoyed listening to him and he was easy to understand. He would make sure people understood what he was talking about. The class was very fun.
He teaches this class in a way that if you just come and listen, take some notes-- you will have no problem on the test. Reading the text is not really necessary if you just go to lecture-- teaches directly to the test. The "homeworks" have questions usually the same as the test. He really makes sure you know it-- asks for questions. Easy class.
Not an EASY class, but one of the easier ones you can take for a PHYS requirement. I learned a TON, but you DO need to go to class and read the text book. The tests are T/F and essay. There was extra credit as well. The teacher is a little hard to understand, but you get used to it! It was a good class over all.
Tony is an excellent professor. I was very apprehensive about physics just because I had heard that course is very difficult. I found that the course is difficult, but Tony has a way of explaining the subject that makes it clear, and he encourages questions. I really learned a lot in the class.
In no way is this an easy class, but he is honestly the best professor I have had so far at the university.
Professor Pantziris is awesome. He is so straightforward in lecture, homework, and exams. As long as you do your homework and pay attention in class and at least read the chapter, you will do fine. The BEST professor in the physics department, don't pass him up!
Don't underestimate this class. Although it is a 1000-level course, you need to take good notes & do your readings in order to get decent grades on the exams. He reuses the HW assignments so if you have a friend that took the class before, you could just copy off their homework ;) But overall, he's an easy-going teacher. Not the best but likable :)
Very straightforward. He tells you what you need to know and gives very useful review sheets for tests. Subject matter is interesting. Very dry humor :)
The class is pretty difficult and I don't see how any professor can change that. Professor Pantziris is awesome, however. He encourages questions, and his explanations are thorough and clear. Be sure to attend class and read the chapter. Skipping class makes the exam quite a challenge. Do not skip.
This class was a breeze, if you show up and take notes it's not hard at all. He gives you a week to do homework and a review before every test so you can just skim the book for answers. It's a cake walk. I'd recommend it.
This man is passionate about what he teaches and it shows. He is very good at drawing diagrams to help you understand the material. His accent is pleasant.
Great structure to the course. Very interesting and counts for gen ed. Really passionate about the subject and teaches very well. He wants students to understand, not just memorize details. He'll help you out if you need anything. If you attend the lectures and take good notes, the book is optional.
Physics without the math! My kind of science class. The star parties for extra credit are awesome as well. As a freshman, this was the perfect science class to take. If you talk to him and make it clear you care, he'll work with you. Awesome awesome awesome.
The department uses SmartPhysics (not his fault), an inadequate learning system, and his lectures come almost entirely from there. He does not go over enough examples in class and can be hard to understand. Expect to learn on your own to be able to finish the Web Assign HW. I will get an A, but I had to buy a real textbook and practice by myself.
Do not bother buying the textbook, it is verbatim to the prelecture videos. Going to class and the discussion is definitely helpful. The professor is very reasonable.
A great course! I took this in high school so the class size was very small, and that helped. the course is challenging, but Pantziris is clear, helpful and friendly. ecourages questions and very reasonable. as a plus he has an awesome accent.
Solid professor during lectures and a lovable guy. Has homework that is about the same difficulty as the tests and covers all of the same concepts. Really wants all students to do well and teaches at a very comfortable pace. Great at answering any questions. Teaches what needs to be known to do well in that class, but bad at going beyond that.
I always looked forward to lecture. It was very interesting, clear and easy to understand. Now that I am in 2220, I realized I really miss his teaching style.
He is an awesome professor and really wants to help his students. Make sure you show up to lectures (especially the review) and do the homework. Physics is not easy, but it can be done if you put in the work.
Amazing professor. I struggle in physics, but he made the material understandable. The homework is rough, but as long as you go to the discussions you'll be fine. He is fun, truly cares for his students and is more than willing to help. I cannot recommend him enough! He's probably the best in the department, if not the best in the University.
I really dislike Physics, but he was clear and committed to his students. We learned so much and I was able to succeed in my least favorite subject.
Tony is a nice guy. That's really the best way to describe him. However, he's not the most clear of teachers. He will definitely help you if you ask. GO TO DISCUSSIONS. That will save you in this class.
Amazing teacher. Does his best to make sure everyone is understanding the material. Tests are just like the homework.
Graduating this semester and still remember from years ago. Favorite lecture class of my entire college career. His lectures are very interesting and he knows so much about what he is talking about. He will answer any questions you have. If I was better at math I would have taken him again. Definitely worth taking his classes and hearing him talk!
Basically an online class with pointless class lectures. Students purchase access to required online videos, Pantziris then teaches EXACTLY what was taught in the videos, even using the same slides and examples. Homework is much harder than the problems we do in class. Don't buy the SmartPhysics textbook.
The homework is much harder than what we do in the class. The class is full of disgusting nerds.
This guy just regurgitates exactly what was poorly taught through online videos.
This guy talks about easy stuff in class. Then the homework is way harder.
I LOVED this class. It was really hard but Pantziris and the TAs are so helpful, they really walk you through it. You can tell how much he cares about each student understanding it, and his lectures are really enjoyable. Definitely get this teacher. Expect some crazy homework but it's worth it.
Teaches straight off of smartphysics. lectures are very boring since nothing new is taught in the class that wasn't learned through smartphysics
Very good lectures with lots of examples. Listened to student feedback.
Pantziris really cares about the well being of his students. Physics is a hard subject, and he does his best to make sure everyone understands. Homework is way harder than the in class problems. Study those to help you pass the exams.
Tony deeply cares about his students and how much they learn. He is very easy to contact and will always help you out if you email him when stuck on a problem or something. Overall, he made physics much easier to learn
He is a wonderful professor who genuinely cares about students understanding and will go back over things if you didn't understand it. It was sometimes hard to understand what he was saying with his accent, but it was fine. There are lots of assignments and tests, but the class should be easy for you if you've done well in Calc II or above.
Awesome Professor! He slowed down during his explainations so everyone can understand. He answers any questions the class might have. He wants everyone to get a good score in his class. He curves and gives extra credit after the curve just for showing up to the discussion sections.
Pantziris actually cares that everyone understands the material and passes the class. It may be a weeder course traditionally, but he doesn't act like it is at all. Ask any question during class and he'll answer it. Also pretty goofy guy and really intelligent and knowledgable.
Awesome professor! Class is pretty easy especially if you attend discussion and you'll get 5% on your overall grade. He is a pretty funny guy and makes everything easy to understand.
Professor Pantziris has been one of the best professors I have had at the U so far. Before we go onto the next subject he will make sure everything is crystal clear for the whole class. Overall excellent teacher and would definitely take a class from him again.
Pantziris' subtle humor in his lectures is very amusing. He is a super nice guy that really cares a lot about his students' success. Always willing to answer questions. He does have an accent, but I got used to it very quickly.I actually thought his tests were easy and a plus 5% extra credit for going to discussions makes the class very doable.
This has to be one of the best physics professors on campus. He lectures physics in a way that's easily understood. He demonstrates how to solve each problems, rather than just explaining theoretical stuff. Homework can be difficult at times, but once completed, the tests will be easy. Highly recommend taking this professor.
Dr. Pantziris is not just one of the best professors I have ever had, but he's one of the best teachers I've had in my life. This is NOT an easy class. It can be conceptually difficult to understand, but Tony does a really great job at explaining the concepts. Tests are very fair, b/c they're identical to the homework problems. Take 2210 from him!
This is the best physics teacher at the University of Utah! His tests are only written about the main topics and he did not try to trick you at all during the tests. He dropped the lowest test score and his reviews that are posted will really prepare you for what he expects on the test. I cannot recommend him enough! Take physics from him!
The professor is very caring and attempts to make sure every student understands the material. He constantly pauses to take questions and answers it clearly
Professor Pantziris really cares about the well-being of his students. He understands that the material he presents is difficult to grasp so he does his best to cater to your needs as a student. If you put the effort into his class, he'll put the effort into you. Just make to keep up with the material-it's fairly difficult to play catch-up!
Very good physics teacher. I would recommend him over any other physics professor at the U. The homework assignments don't affect your grades too much but you need to make sure you do them anyways. The tests are where your grade really comes from so make sure you study hard for each one.
good teach
He explains what's happening during lecture in a very clear way, and the problems he gives you for practice are exactly in that butterzone where they challenge you such that you glean insight over the course of the problem, but it's not so difficult that you can't figure it out. If you really struggle, he will give you exactly the nudge you need.
Go to his office hours and he will happily help you with any homework problems, he is amazing at explaining hard materials and making you understand the topics.
Dr. Pantziris gives great lectures that are definitely worth attending. He also genuinely cares about his students' success and encourages questions. However, the class isn't easy; learning physics requires effort. I found his office hours very welcoming and helpful.
Hands down the best physics professor at the U. He has lectures that explain the material well, relevant homework problems and tests that are challenging but fair. There's a lot to learn but as long as you work hard and keep up with the material Pantziris gives you everything you need to succeed.
I love anthony, hes funny and his lectures are engaging. The class is as hardas youd expect a physics class to be. The TAs were pretty useless. The tests are all 3 questions with multiple parts. Grading is fair. Definitely reccommend this prof
Pantziris loves teaching physics and has 2 decades of experience. He will never let you go confused if you keep asking questions. 75% tests but he curves generously and gives extra credit. Go to the discussions and you are set to ace the class.
I loved his class. It really wasn't that hard if you listened to the prelecutures and the lectures. He doesn't take attendance but he expects high participation from his class. He is very open to questions so make sure you ask if you're confused.
Professor Pantziris is one of those professors who really loves what he does. No one has ever met this guy that didn't like him. He's a great instructor in many ways, but sometimes it feels like he doesn't understand what a student is actually asking and gives the answer to the question he thinks they're asking instead. Excellent overall.
Tony is a cool guy, though often students have questions he misunderstands. The real issue is how the terrible course itself is set up. There are 2 HW each week, with mandatory video lectures before each class and discussion sect each week outside class. The lecture material is much simpler than what's expected on your own. Should be 5 credit hrs.
He's one of the best professors at the U and definitely the best physics professor I've had. He does a great job of teaching the material and has cool experiments almost every lecture. Fair grading and considering all the homework you do and the lectures the tests weren't too bad. I highly recommend taking physics from Pantziris if you can.
Tony is one of the best professors I've ever had. I had no prior knowledge of physics before taking it with him, but he explained it so well. He really cares about his students and he wants them to do well. There are times in lecture when he will just wait for questions by students. Awesome 10/10 would recommend.
The course objectives were clearly stated and the material was met accordingly. This class is homework heavy; two assignments were due every week which took about three hours each and pre lecture videos/checkpoints were assigned before every lecture. Definitely attend the discussion sections because you will receive extra credit.
This course is hard, but what else do you expect because it is Physics. Tony explain the materials very well and the discussion TA are helpful whenever you have questions.
Tony is a super caring, funny and intelligent professor. If you have the chance to take him, take him. Physics isn't easy but he does an excellent job at teaching the material for understanding. Follow his steps to solving problems and you'll do great. If you try to memorize problems you will 100% fail. Study the HOW to do problems and its easy!
Tony was a great physics professor. My biggest issue was with the course itself. It doesn't use canvas so a couple of times I would look at my dashboard and see nothing was due and miss an assignment. I had already taken physics before so the course material already made sense to me. I would have gotten an A if I hadn't missed some assignments
Pantzaris is an interesting and intriguing guy to hear lecture and his vague European accent wont bother you. Your final grade is put on a normal curve, so there was no way to check your true grade since it changes at the very end. He uses 2 $50 non-canvas websites, with homework every other day. Discussion is mandatory, not lecture
Tony is hands down the coolest prof here. You can tell he genuinely cares about your understanding of the material. This class is way hard, but he explains things so well. I refuse to take a Phys class from anyone except him.
He is very knowledgable when it comes to Physics and if you need help, or have never taken Physic before, then you should definitely come by his office hours. He explains the concepts well but the lectures can get a bit dry. His midterms are fair as they are similar to homework but require further critical thinking.
His classes are super difficult, but he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. His lectures are good, he doesn't overload you with homework (you get 5 problems, twice a week). He uses an online module that's suuuper helpful. It contains practice problems and extra material to help you understand concepts. He is a well-respected professor!
Pantziris explains things very well. You have to invest a few hours for homework. but if you get stuck, he will gladly guide you through it and you'll get unstuck very quickly. His help hours are very beneficial. His tests are very fair and will be less hard than the homework. Key is don't memorize formulas, understand what they stand for.
In a department that is known to be pretty bad, Tony is a gem. It's a difficult class, but Tony made sure that lectures were promptly recorded and posted and that discussions were running smoothly. Between TA's and Tony, there was probably 5(!) hours of help hours a week, more on exam weeks. Get ready to put in work and learn from a great prof.
Tony has been one of the best professors I've had so far. He's very knowledgeable and he is always willing to help you understand concepts when you need help.
Probably best prof ever! Class is hard but definitely doable. If you go to his office hours every time, you will definitely do well on the exams and final. Uses masteringPhyiscs for hw, 7 problems each. Exam 2 and the final were tough, but exam 1 and 3 were really easy. His teaching one on one is incredible, the best I ever had!
The professor is one of the few who handled the online classes well. He is also extremely caring for the students so reach out to him during office hours. The materials can be challenging but he is willing to slow down if needed. His midterms are fair and to best secure marks here is to do well on the first two. Pay attention to his review slides
Tony is one of my favorite teachers. He did a great job at accommodating the online environment. He has clear expectations which are reflected in how similar the tests are to the homework. His lectures are great and you can easily ask questions. You will have to work for this class, but it is doable and the payoff is a very interesting class.
Tony is such a gem, easy-going and helpful. More than willing to make changes to help with the transition to online. I loved the way he explained concepts. He makes his expectations very clear. If you do the homework, attend discussion, and study for the tests it's an easy class to ace. I wish every STEM teacher could be like Tony!
Great professor
Tony is just a great teacher who knows his stuff and makes lectures easy to follow and understand.
Honestly, I hate his online format. But I think he would be a pretty good professor if it were in person. Droning on Zoom for 80 minutes twice a week is impossible to follow. Assignments are easy for the most part but sometimes there are some crazy difficult questions. Exams are pretty hard.
This takes the cake for the hardest class I've taken. Lots of HW and Quizzes. If you come knowing next to nothing about physics, as I did, be prepared to go over HW religiously. Tests reflect the HW and reviews. He cares more that you understand the questions than have the exact answer. If you take anyone for PHYS, take it with Tony.
Attendance was not mandatory for the lectures but was for the discussions. You can tell that Tony wants his students to succeed and puts in a lot of effort and care into making sure you do. The tests reflect the homework, and all homework assignments are a manageable amount (5-8 questions, 2x a week). Take physics from Tony you won't regret it.
CEO of Cool Physics. Tony is so much fun and always had me excited to be in class. The labs, homework, and tests are highly correlated. Usually attending lab guarantees you answers to 1 out of the 6 problems assigned for that week. He also used the online textbook to submit homework, so you have a few tries to get the answer right.
He's a pretty good guy and very accessible. If you're good at math you'll probably get an A without putting in more than the bare minimum, in terms of effort. A bit of an accent but it doesn't get in the way. His lectures aren't super helpful, but nevertheless they're presented in a way that makes it so you get a conceptual understanding.
I love Tony.
There is a lot of homework in this class and it will take up a lot of time, but it's not hard!
Tony is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. He genuinely cares about all of his student's success, and he explains difficult concepts very clearly so that the class was enjoyable even though it was difficult material.
Anthony is one of the best professors I have ever had. He knows all of the ins and outs of physics. He doesn't overcomplicate anything which is super nice. The class overall is HARD. The concepts are difficult and require abstract thinking. This is the professor I would highly recommend taking physics for engineers from.
Tony is an awesome teacher. The class is very well structured and I appreciate how accessible all the information was. The way he presents the concepts during lecture is great. The material is difficult but Tony is very forgiving when it comes to grading and drops a lot. The tests are also really fair and there were never any "trick problems".
The course and content was hard, but Tony explained it well! Go to the lectures and listen, I didn't even read the textbook but was able to pass the class with an A-. There are two homework assignments a week, they are short but require a lot of thinking. Also hope you get stuck with a good TA for discussions, overall you will do good if you try!
Tony is a kind soul, he doesn't give to much course work, gives plenty of time during test and midterms, and test are never a surprise. He (and the discussions) teach you everything you need on the test and midterms and he doesn't throw curve balls so you will be prepared if you go to discussion and review lectures.
Pantziris is a great teacher and has very clear expectations. He cares about his students and there are plenty of resources to succeed in the class. Just read the textbook and show up and you'll be good. The class can be a bit boring but that just comes with the territory. Overall Professor Pantziris is a great choice.
Dr. Pantziris is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. His class isn't easy but he is good at teaching the material. The discussion sections are so helpful. There was textbook reading, but if you pay attention in class you don't need to do it. He preps you well for exams and dropped the two lowest exam scores out of six total.
His demonstrations/experiments in class were super fun. Not a ton of required homework, but enough where one bad grade won't bring your average down. He allows cheat sheets on exams, which is helpful. Quizzes were super easy, as they were based on fundamental ideas rather than being actual problems. Super sweet guy. Discussions end with solutions.
Dr. Pantziris is a a very chill and nice teacher, he always makes sure that everyone understands the material and never hesitates to help others. His test questions are often discussion/review questions with a slight twist, so make sure to pay attention to them.
Great professor, stops for questions and to make sure everyone understands the material. Lectures can be pretty slow-paced. Allows reference/cheat sheets for all exams.
The expectations were clear for this class which I appreciated. His lecture style just wasn't for me. It just wasn't super engaging, and the in-class participation element did not improve my learning experience. I ended up having to spend a lot of time watching online videos and going to office hours with TAs. He's nice, just not a match for me.
This guy is really good at teaching physics so I recommend it. Two of the six total midterm questions were dropped which was nice. Expect two weekly six question homeworks, 2 weekly discussions, and a quiz every other week. The TAs in most discussions were pretty good. If you are bad at math this class will be more difficult, but you can do it.
I took this class in the Fall of 2019. He was one of the most thoughtful professors I have ever had. He is amazing at physics and you can tell. He's not here to just teach and make his salary, he is here to make sure everyone understands the material and he did what he could to make that happen. 10/10 would recommend this professor for any class.
Physics was difficult, but Tony made all the difference. Although I struggled, I ended up enjoying the class quite a bit.
Anthony is a fantastic lecturer, although his voice is quite calming, so I've noticed some students falling asleep. He's very kind and the class is fair, well taught, and pretty easy.
Anthony gives the best lectures I have ever been too. I never thought I would love physics but somehow its incredibly interesting. Hands down one of the best professors at the U. The way the class is structured in terms of home work discussions and tests is just right.
Tony is the best physics prof ever! I've had him for 2210 and 2220. He cares about his students and is passionate about physics. Lectures are interesting and clear. The class structure is very organized and works well. The tests are always very fair and you will know what to expect. If your going to take physics take it from Tony!!
Fun demos, detailed useful lectures, and always tries to ensure we understand everything. The amount of homework is very reasonable, and he makes a very difficult subject intuitive. I had him for 2210 too. The tests match what we learn in class and on the homework. The format is clear. He never throws unreasonable curveballs. 10/10
Dr. Pantziris is an amazing professor. I was very nervous to take Physics 2 because I have heard it is difficult, but this class was extremely manageable. Discussions are graded on attendance only, you get multiple tries on the homework questions, and the quizzes are open book. He drops 2 of the midterm questions and his grading is extremely fair.
People who go into his class will be able to tell almost immediately that he's a very caring person. He talks slowly but also manages to cover a lot of material in each lecture, and wants to make sure that everyone understands the material and gets a chance to demonstrate their understanding. Also, his demos are super fun!
I went to 2 lectures and knew his teaching style wouldn't work for me; basically learned via Ochem tutors YT channel. Class is massively padded: do discussions, quizzes, and HW (easy) and you don't have to get great grades on midterms (1 drop). Didn't take the final (20%) because I'm graduating and GPA is healthy; had other tests to worry about.
He's the best. How to succeed: Don't be bad at algebra. Study 4 test, attend discussion sections. Don't neglect the homework and quizzes. Physics is a difficult subject but the way he teaches and formats his class is very well done, he has experience. 5 hw questions and a quiz each week. He's also funny and does interesting demonstrations in class.
Test-Heavy but he told the TAs to be gracious with grading with averages on Midterms & Finals being around 80%. Amazing for those new to Physics but Homework can be difficult so work with a friend.
Great professor. Participate in lectures and you will do great! (I myself should have done so) He is very caring and is great at explaining concepts. DO NOT SKIP LECTURES!! They are so helpful.
Dr. Pantziris is a great professor and makes sure you understand everything. The TAs were not so good this semester. Lectures can be watched online, discussion attendance is graded. The homeworks are relatively easy and the exams are reasonable.
Prof Pantziris is one of the greatest STEM professors at this school. His lectures are super engaging and helpful to gain a deep understanding of the material. You will get bombarded with study materials, but most of those are skippable, just use the ones you like/need. I personally attended lectures and rarely referenced the book.
He cares so much about physics and it really shows. Almost every class includes fun demonstrations. Sometimes we shoot cannons, sometimes we ride on wheelie chairs powered by fire extinguishers. He takes care in answering everybody's questions and he is thoughtful when it comes to simplifying difficult concepts for the class.
Lectures are pretty long but he's a great instructor.
Love tony.
Great physics prof - engaging lectures, fair exams, and helpful study materials. I used unstuck study alongside the textbook and found it really useful for reinforcing concepts. Definitely take this class if you can!
Dr. Pantziris is a very passionate and caring physics professor. I think his class and the fact that his tests are fair and straightforward is the only reasons I passed Physics!
Very experienced with this and course flows very smoothly. Pacing felt extremely good, and he was very good about gauging how comfortable the class was with material and would adjust accordingly. One downside is that he's not amazing at explaining a concept in different ways, so if the initial lecture didn't work you'll need to read the book.
Not as great at explaining less tangible concepts with electricity and magnetism and didn't seem to really know where the class was at with math experience, but course was ran very smoothly and lectures were perfectly acceptable at explaining concepts.
Best teacher I've had at the U. easy to get good grades.
Tony is a first rate professor! He always explained things clearly and engaged the class by asking questions, doing practice problems, and confirming our understanding. Note: his lectures are a bit slow-paced, which is excellent if you're new to or not great at physics but potentially a bit frustrating if you have a solid physics background.
Anthony was such a phenomenal teacher this semester! Your grade is PHYS 2210 is absolutely determined by the effort you put in, as there are two weekly assignments and two weekly discussions that make up 40% of your grade. The tests (and the final) are easy and short, just three free-response questions. Several TAs and LAs to support the class.
