Have him now for just the lab...seems really down to earth and funny in this otherwise boring-as-heck class!

He was an amazing professor, I must say extremely helpful, and he actually cares about his students, unlike other lab professors. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM a million times over!!!

You will NOT regret taking Lab with this professor. He's totally down to Earth and interesting to listen to, not to mention pretty damn funny. I had him for BIO-L 1000, and even though I'm not good at Bio, I got a good grade. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

as long as you go to class you'll be fine. he gives online quizzes every class and you get two tries for each quiz so theres no way to do badly in his class. if you have the choice take him definitely

Prof. Paratore is a great! He is very funny and lively. He is very approachable so you don't have to hesitate to talk to him if you need help. Lectures straight to the point & quiz questions directly from his lecture, so take notes. He lets you know what you should expect on the midterm/final--so no surprises! I would love to have him again

One would expect the class to be boring because of the content, but he makes this class so funny and interesting. The only homework assigned are reaction papers every two weeks. Although your grade is only made up of the exams and papers, he's still the funniest professor I've ever had and makes me want to come into class.

This professor is absolutely outstanding. I have never had a lab professor or professor at this university in general that effectively taught me biology the way he did. Professor Paratore is the man! Very funny, always cracks jokes during class. Basically u need to show up and you'll pass. All quizzes, midterm, and final are online on blackboard. Most of his final questions come from the online quizzes so take a picture of them before you close the quiz. Its good review. He knows how to make a 9am class fun!

Dr. Paratore is hilarious, he understands the struggles of a college student and makes the class as quick and enjoyable as possible. His quizess are online at the beginning of class so you must show up, after that his lecture is no more than 10 min and the lab part is no more than 30 min. Take his class you won't regret it!

Really funny and engaging, always open to class discussions and questions which have lead to some hilarious tangents. Would take this class again, tests are highly specific and cover a wide range of information about the course. If you study you'll do fine, but you won't be able to remember everything for the tests.

Absolutely amazing professor. the content was so hard but he managed to make It enjoyable. I failed the midterm but I realized that I just needed to study a lot more and finished class with a B. Class is always cut short and he makes it so much fun. He makes funny jokes and makes class feel personal. he even remembers personal stories told in class

Part time comedian. Makes you want to come to class everyday & wish he didn't cut it short every time. Impressive considering the outlandish topic & nobody being a Science major. Think most people failed the midterm, didn't really know what to expect. Make sure you do your reaction papers, 1 every 2 weeks and study. Sorry for being late everyday.

Such a great guy and makes the class engaging with his humor. It'a a two way street, just do what's expected of you and you'll be in good shape. He doesn't over burden you with anything and gives ample time for reaction papers (every two weeks). You can't go wrong taking him.

Best professor at SJU. He is absolutely hilarious and makes his lectures enjoyable. His class is graded on the mid term, final and 5 reaction papers. Study for the exams, do the papers and show up to his class and you're golden. Honestly, I never liked science until I had him my first semester of college. He is great!!

Hands down best professor I've had! There's always jokes here and there. He's very straight forward and cares for his students. He understands that students have other classes, so assignments are just reaction papers due every two weeks. Midterm and final were easy, just follow the review sheet and actually study! You won't regret taking him.

I had him for lab. Make sure to come to class on time since quizzes are at the beginning of class. Quizzes are pretty fair, all based on the previous experiment. He really cares about you passing class as long as you make the effort. Make sure to always bring your laptop as quizzes are on blackboard. Final exam and midterm are pretty fair too.

I had his class my first semester and that was the first semester I liked science! He is an amazing professor who engages with, cares for, and works with his students. With that being said, he is also not a push over so do not try to get one over. The reflection papers are not bad at all, you just have to keep up with them and there are only 5!!

SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR!! You will not regret taking his class, he is truly one of my favorite professors. He is really funny and he cares a lot about his students! Grading is pretty straightforward and the quizzes are taken at the first 10 minutes of class but they are pretty easy as long as you read the lab manual/Powerpoints.

One of my favorite professors ever, PowerPoints are posted online and class is mostly lectures but lectures are entertaining and funny. Lightly grades 3 page paper every other week but midterm and final count for a decent part of your grade and are harder than you would expect. Even if you do bad on the midterm it is possible to come back.

Professor Paratore is my favorite professor here at SJU. He is beyond hilarious, intelligent and caring. I had to take his class as a requirement for my degree but I actually enjoyed this course. Science is not my favorite subject but I actually learned a lot. You won't regret taking him.

I went into this class thinking I was going to hate it and be bored the whole time. However, right from the first day, my mind was changed and I knew I was in for a great semester. Paratore is hilarious and makes the topic extremely interesting... and that's coming from someone who genuinely couldn't care less about 'consciousness' before the class

Makes a class on complex topics easy to understand all while being one of the funniest people I've met. 70% of your grade depends on your performance on the midterm and final so don't forget to study ahead of time!

the class was set up 2 tests midterm and a final that are worth 35% each which he gives reviews sheets in blackboard on day 1. The rest of the 30% comes from 5 reaction papers. In the reaction papers you need to read a science article and write a 3 page paper about it. He is such a good teacher take him if you can!!

Dr. Paratore is easily my favorite professor in St. John's. His enthusiasm and sense of humor never fail to make a 9am class an extremely enjoyable and energetic one. He gives short lectures before each lab that explain everything you'll be doing which are incredibly informative & sets clear grading criteria to help you get the best grade possible.

Dr. Paratore is definitely one of my all time favorite Professors! He is by far the funniest professor and lectures are fun. He usually lets us out early, which is a shame because of how enjoyable his class is! He has a clear grading rubric. He gives multiple extra credit assignments as well. Grade is 4 papers, midterm and final. very fair! TAKE!!!

Paratore is a great professor. He always seems to be interested in the topic that we're getting lectured on, and he's pretty funny. Lots of extra credit, but necessary because the tests can be somewhat difficult. Papers due every two weeks but all the info is online already if you want to plan ahead. I took a class on consciousness, def. recommend.

This guy is literally amazing my fav prof! he is super hilarious his lectures are so interesting it was my favorite class i looked forward to going each time he assigns a textbook but you don't really use it and he gives some extra credit he's awesome!!

SCI 1100C - Evol. of Consciousness was an interesting class to take. SCI is a hard subject, and never fully processed what I learned throughout my academic years, but I managed to get an A. One midterm / final (questions came from lectures) so make sure you pay attention and take notes. 5 Reaction Papers were a drag, but got through it. Funny guy!

This man is goated. He made class interesting and was straight forward. And hes super friendly and funny.

I definitely recommend. Lectures are quick and easy to understand. No homework. Quizzes every week about the past lecture/experiment. It is easy only 5 points. You are able to drop two of the lowest. Midterm and finals all multiple choice questions in person. Overall he is a great professor because hes easy to understand. He makes Bio 2000 fun!

Simple easy class, just do the simple quiz every week based on content from week before. Drops worst two quizzes. Should be able to get an easy A in the class.

His lectures and quizzes are very clear and straight to the point. He makes learning fun and has taught me more than my lecture professors have this year.

Professor Paratore could be a stand-up comedian if he wants to, though I guess being a professor pays more. He makes the class very fun and engaging through use of humor, and is a very chill person. Amazing dude, I explained my situation and turned some of the papers late and he was very understanding. Take him if you can!

This man is incredible! One of the best bio teachers in the whole entire school. His lectures are simple, funny, and straightforward. He cares a lot about his students and only wants the best for them. I wish I could have him again for lab, he's simply the best! Take him if you can, he's one of a kind.

Professors Paratore is funny, the class is easy but you do have to study a little bit for his test. He give you a review and make sure you memorize them. Quizzes are 20 to 25 question but they are easy. Great professor overall.

He was my Bio 2000 Lab professor. He was absolutely amazing!!!!! He made all of the lectures clear and concise. He was hilarious and well adjusted. He made sure that everything was done correctly. I would 10000% recommend everyone to take him. There are quizzes every week but they are only 5 questions and he drops the 2 lowest grades.

He is a must-take! He is the funniest professor I've ever had, and he relates to students so much, making the lab feel comfortable and enjoyable. This is hands-down the best lab class you will ever take. He teaches the material exceptionally well and explains stuff very clearly. Plus, he respects your time and frequently lets the class go early!

I loved him, he was really nice and funny. Only thing is that he will not make sure you're actually doing ur job in lab, so that sounds amazing at first until you realize you dont know what is hapenning on the quizzes... Still easy to get an A, all the quizes were on Canvas. I wish I could have him again, not the best professor but easiest.
