mr. pearson is kind of weird, but if you read the book and ignore his lecture you'll be fine

This guy is light years ahead of his time and knows his material. The lecture is always interesting.

We could use more people like him in this country. He wants what is best for the US, not the BS we dwell on today. Tons of knowledge to pass on. Great Class to take whether you need it or not.

He knows alot of useful information that he works into his lectures.He Really grabs my attention by making it interesting.He Seems weird to most and even myself until you step outside of the box and look at things as he does, once you do that it all makes sense. Does he teach another class,Im IN!

Whoever doesn't like Mr. Pearson just doesn't appreciate intelligence. If you think he is pushing his views then you heard him wrong because he always makes a point to consider the other end of the argument. This man knows a lot and I am very impressed. Listen to what he has to say!!!!

Okay, I'll be the first to say that this prof. is hot!! He could have been teaching stereo instructions for all I care, and I still would have taken his class. Anyways, his lectures are very entertaining and informative. Everyone should take his class!!

His point of view is refreshing. He is one of the rare people that has educated opinions, and he encourages his students to form their own educated opinions, whether they agree with him or not. I have found that his teachings are not only valid to sociology, but also to real life.

This teacher is excellent. His class was my favorite, and I learned alot of neat facts relating to sociology. It also helps that he is so hot!!

I took this class last semester and I dont see what everyone is upset about. yeah we talked about stuff that wasnt in the book, politics, money.. which are SOCIAL ISSUES! People, stop the whinning! When you guys are in a lab with some schmoe that only does the BOOK you will remember the days you had w Pearson and wish others were like him.

This sheepshaggin english dude knows his crap. He was damn easy considering the fact that i never studied and passed his tests w/ a B. he's an excellent teacher if your interested in any type of mental stimulation. he has a slight tendency to rant but the topics are engaging and controversial to most conservatives. two thumbs up by the critics.SWAT

He's a very good teacher -- very opinionated and very passionate about his subject. He can be tricky on tests but clearly covers everything that will be on the tests. He's helpful with reviewing for tests and gives you many opportunities to improve your grades. He's kind of adorable, too -- is funny and charming and that accent is just too cool!

Pearson's class was pretty easy to say the least. He did make it interesting because we not only talked about the subject from the book but he also spoke about subject matter excluded from the book. We would get into class discussions about different things and he would use some of it for extra credit on the tests. Highly recommend.

Sum 2006: Pearson is not your average "conservative" teacher. He's wacky, funny, full of wisdom, and above all--brave in expressing himself. There are 3 tests. 1st two are multiple choices and the third is the final which has an essay question and is comprehensive. Copy the notes from the board n read the book. Keep an open mind and good luck!

His philosophy on life is eye opening, challenging us to question the popular ideas we infest into our minds. Take his rheotoric on politics with a grain of salt, for he may offend. Mainly overt the common way of thinking, nothing should be 100%... TRUTH! Oh yeah and take notes, you have to keep him on track with the study guide, just ask him.

If you are not open-minded, do not take his class. His opinions/lectures are a bit out of the ordinary, but they make the class very interesting. The reading definitely helps, however, if you just really study the reviews you're sure to make good grades on the test. Your perspectives may change and he's very different than the everyday professor!

Great professor! He's really open minded, u can pretty much discuss everything with him. He does go off topic sometimes, but the class is still very interesting because of him knowledge and experience.

Pearson is a great teacher and may i add motivational speaker too. He really tells you the truth about stuff he teaches, no BS. His lectures are so funny, but he talks a lot. Thats Good though. OK well to do good in his class you have to read your book (we only read like 4 chapters this last semester) and so the study guides. Go to class

He is a really funny guy! Didn't learn anything on the subject but I learned a lot about other random stuff. Sometimes he'll teach and sometimes he'll just talk about random stuff..he usually doesn't start teaching about the subject until like mid semester so if you don't feel like going to class get it over with in the beginning.

The class is really fun and in an off beat kind of way,he gets off the subj. but that's the fun part. Tests are out of the notes, take good ones and you'll make an A. The book helps but you can easily make an A w/out it. I got a B but slacked like crazy. He's really fun and in a wierd way cute. I would definitely recomend.

Pearson is the best teacher i have ever had. he will get you to think about life and society in a way that you never have before. i left his class everyday disappointed because that meant i had one less day of being his student. TAKE THIS CLASS! he is sexy too! with his little accent and everything!

Great instructor that knows what he is talking about. He does get off subject, but it is always fascinating. He is the best professor at HCC in my opinion, and truly one of the smartest guys I have met. You do need to read the book for his tests because they aren't easy. Pearson makes it interesting and somehow relevant. Take him and read the book.

I thought that sociology class is going to be boring, but with Pearson it wasn't at all. He is cool and relaxed. All you have to do is two tests, final and one paper. I would recommend him to my friends ;)

I really enjoyed this instructor. Ya he may talk about the economy and current events and such, but after all, doesn't sociology entail some of that? Although his lectures touch upon a variety of topics, he makes sure to include what you need to know for the course and the tests. Overall a knowledgeable and humble professor and highly recommended!

Possibly the best teacher i've ever had. Many students might not like his style of teaching because it is unorthodox and unusual to our education system, but if you can stow your pride a little and for a brief period, forget what you think you know, you may get alot more from this class than you expected.

ok so his class was different but it was an EASY "A". The more you participate in the discussions the better. He talks about the economy non-stop but you learn things that are not traditionally taught. I would def take him again.

Dr. Pearson is a cool guy. Two tests, one essay, and a final. That's it! Those who fail just didnt bother studying. All of his notes are on the board. He gives examples of what is going to be on the test so be sure to attend class everyday. If u miss class, get notes from someone. Overall, cool, funny guy! Esp, his immitations! TAKE HIM!

Not what I expected. When he is teaching, this is an extremely interesting class. He has extensive knowledge and can lecture in an interesting manner, but wastes a great deal of time on his personal issues. Tests are easy if you pay attention to the lectures, he will answer any questions, and reviews for each test including the final.

I love his british accent. I made an A for the class. Tests are hard but you have to study. He was absolutly funny. I Recommend him

We used our textbooks for tests and read 'outliers' also and wrote a paper about it. You have to show up to class to know what is going on and the exam outlines do not always match the tests. If you really keep up with the class and pay attention you will pass. He likes to talk**** about himself a lot but he is funny none the less.

I thought he was very knowledgeable about his subject. I liked his sense of humor but some people didn't. Probably need to be a little older to get the most out of his class. Made us read the book Outlers, which I enjoyed a lot.

I don't need an alarm to wake up for this class at 8 am in the morning, everyday! The class is very interesting as the subject of sociology. Anthony has a lot of relevant knowledge and shares in a very Comprehendible manner. I hope to develop a sociological perspective :)

BEST TEACHER!!! I have been out of school for awhile now and I took Dr. Person's sociology class about 8 years ago. He taught me how to think outside of the box. He introduced me to an entire paradigm shift. Looking back on all of my teachers, Dr. Pearson is the one I learned the most applicable life knowledge from.

Good professor. Teaches us things that are not related to the subject at hand but still are quite important. If you want to learn sociology this is sometimes the man to do it , but if you want a prof. who teaches you things that are extreamly important that other teachers fail to mention...this is the prof.

He is beyond ordinary and has genuine interest in educating is students. I wish some more professors have such attitude towards education and studying will be so much fun.

Great Prof & fun class. Everything he lectures on pertains to Soci and those who say different are not paying attn or reading the assigned selections. No heavy reading, but read what's assigned, take notes, & use the test study guides he gives. The class is interesting & fun. Only class I've ever taken that I didn't want to miss a minute of.

If you want grade A, come to his class. Maybe you will think there are few things about sociology, but lots of the truth of the world. His notes and lectures are very very important for grades. I didn't write the paper, but I still get A. Remember, notes and lectures are very important.

Instructor what very entertaining and made coming to class enjoyable. He has a very unique way of teaching, but you will definitely leave his class thinking about the world around you. He only gives 3 tests(including FinalExam) and possible extra credit depending on the curves of the class. Highly recommended for making naive students think!

Easy A. Took him for the summer and the only grades were his 3 exams. Verbatim from his lecture. Class is pretty okay, sometimes engaging and interesting. His teaching style, however, is pretty cool

this guy is so good. experienced professor and doesn't lecture from text book. you can't really study at home for this class as all the material are from the lecture in class. the exams are multiple choice directly from the lecture notes haha

I have to say, his lectures are very interesting.Not the kind to cram(sorry folks,you'll learn something).I could relate a lot of what he talked about to what I learned in Grad sch.

Professor Pearson was an excellent sociology teacher. His test are based On his lectures and notes on board. He makes the class very interesting, i never wanted to miss class. If you show up to class participate and show you are trying and putt forth an effort you will pass his class. Great class to take.

Mr. Pearson is THE ideal professor for sociology. His lectures are really interesting, fun, and valuable. You can't learn sociology without showing up to the class, that's just ironic. He backs up all his claims with his personal experience. Highly recommend to ANYONE. Doesn't matter if you like sociology or not, you will like the class.

Mr. Pearson is a wonderful teacher and does everything to help students. All we had to do was read the assigned chapters and hand outs and do 3 exams. This is probably the best class I have ever taken here at HCC.

He's a very chill professor if you just want to take sociology to get it over with I recommend him. He's English with an accent and funny. Sometimes he does get of topic but he answer any of you're questions. He gives out good reviews for the test just make sure you study well . He doesn't teach of of Txt book, so I recommend to rent one .

Amazing AMAZING professor. He is hilarious (though you do need to appreciate dry humors to get his jokes), immensely inspirational and care about whether he makes an impact on the way you think as a person or not. Class doesn't follow a set of schedule, instead it's open discussion almost every day. Best class I've taken in years.

He is a very inspirational teacher, does not give many tests but the five pages paper it's worth two tests but it can replace your lowest test grade. However, you have to take or read the notes he provides. Btw I did purchase the book but I only used it once Lol Overall he was a good and nice professor.

I think I learned more about Pearsons personal life more than sociology.. However, the tests were easy I studied the night before and got Bs on both, I bought the book but never used it. Make sure you write down everything on the board it has the answers to everything. The reason I got a C was from the 5 page essay at the end.. oh well.

Just make sure to study reviews that he gives out and you will get an A. His lectures are engaging and interesting. He is very kind and funny, and expects students to "be present in the moment". Would take again!

1- independent Lectures (free of books). 2- Two exams (identical to reviews) + final (comprehensive) + research paper (about : group conformity) 3-content of this class is mainly about two topics: a) Sociological variables role in our lives. b) unequal distribution of wealth. 4- Eyeopening.

Awesome. We use the textbook sometimes. It is not mandatory to have one. You do need to go to his class everyday to listen to his lectures. Class is not difficult at all.

Pearson is a really good guy and very easy going. He does, however, get off topic and talk about his personal life a little too much. LOTS of notes to study and some of it isn't even on the tests, which was frustrating. I didn't use the book at all, just be sure you go to class because he writes the notes down for you to copy.

He was a decent professor. Not a usual sociology class though, not sure that I learned much about sociology. I did get something from the class, he has a very interesting perspective of life and ways of living and it is interesting to come to class and listen to, although he does get side tracked and talks about himself too much. Not hard overall!

He's very good at what he teaches, and he tells very compelling life stories that relates to the lectures. His tests aren't very hard and there are only two, excluding the final. There is one essay, but if you like sociology it will be fun.

He's interesting in his own way and connecting sociology to his life. He does get a bit sidetracked but the notes are posted online. 2 exams and final that counts twice, 1 paper. Easy A if you study a bit, his exams are based off on his notes for the most part and little bit from textbook.

Sociology is a great subject in itself but Pearson has an eccentric approach that keeps you interested. This class is interactive & you need to take notes. He does go off track at times but you won't get bored. Don't buy the textbook. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed this class. Definitely recommend unless you get easily offended. Pearson can be savage

Professor Pearson is intelligent, hilarious, and open-minded. He shares a lot of personal stories which create a level of trust with the professor. Even his ramblings helped me understand the material more in depth. There is no real homework, but there is three test and one paper.

Great teacher for an A!! 2 exams, paper, and final count twice. Entertaining lectures and discussions that open the mind to thinking. Review sheets are given for exams, and he goes over it before the exam. Have an open mind and write down notes. This class won't interfere with harder classes.

Very chill professor, makes requirements clear and the tests actually contain what he teaches! Not a lot of material and not difficult at all.

One of the best teachers Ive ever had.

Even though i'm a Conservative and my ideology is quite different from his liberal view, his class is still inspiring and interesting. I have actually learned a lot from this class. The tests are straight from his lecture and videos. The essay is only about yourself so it's very pleasing to do the papers. Easy A if you take notes and study!

I took Professor Pearson for SOCI and we started in class but because of COVID, we ended online. I was actually really sad when we went all online because I really enjoyed his class. I'm not sure if I would call them lectures because he made it so fun and interesting. Even though we switched to online, he still made it fun and clear to pass.

I took him online and he was great! Honestly you do not need the textbook, I passed with an A and I never used the textbook I would just watch the videos he would assign because he would quiz you on them, they are short so not much to worry about. He was and is one of my favorite professors of all time, he grades easy !

I love his lectures , his lectures are mixed with real life events . Its crazy because he is a good profesor. He aint like the rest that will only teach book stuff . He goes more in-depth with his videos and whats going on around us .I took his class seriously because he cares about people and I will use his lectures for lifetime and pass it on.

Professor Pearson is very dedicated to his class. All his assignments are very organised in modules. Our assignments was quizzes, exams and discussions/ 1 essay. The exams, quizzes, and discussions are based on the reading and videos in the modules. Everything was a breeze sometimes its just a lot of work but very doable. He gives lot of feedback!

Great professor; you should take Prof. Pearson if you're planning on taking SOCI-1301. 100% would take him again. Nice, and caring professor

Professor Pearson's class is a breeze if you stay engaged. The assignments and exams are straightforward and based on the course materials. I found unstuck ai and the textbook to be helpful for preparing. Overall, an enjoyable and manageable class.

Absolutely take this professor if you take Intro to Sociology. The modules can be a lot, but everything is well-organized and if you put the time in you'll do just fine. Discussion posts and engaging with other students is a big part of the class. He sets students up for success and if you do the work you shouldn't have any problems getting an A.

Just finished his class for the semester and I honestly enjoyed it, the freedom of expression, non judgmental, open mindedness is cool I'd definitely recommend he gives great feedback to he takes time to read, and familiarize with you even while taking his online class.

He is an amazing professor. The chapter quiz is not too bad if you read the textbook, and be ready to read for the discussion. A lot of reading, but it was worth it. He gave a good and respect feedback on the discussion. I recommend his class if you have time to read and keep up with the assignments it will be an easy A.
