great teacher overall. makes material very easy to understand. if you pay attention in class and do the hw theres no reason you shouldn't get an A
Rizzie is a great professor. Math is personally not my best subject (the class 1070Q is relatively simple) but Rizzie made things incredibly clear. He really cares about math and his students as long as you are respectful to him. He is also really funny if you like corny jokes/puns, and class gets out early which is great! Would highly recommend.
Rizzie was a great professor. Even though 1070Q was at hardest Pre-Calc work, he explains everything very well and will help you. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Buy the online code to do the homework online as it is much cheaper and he even acknowledges the book is pointless. Great guy who is laid back and is good to talk to in person as well.
Awesome professor! I took him for differential equations and the class was very clear and very easy. There was no graded homework, so tests and weekly quizzes consumed your grade, however both were fair while challenging your understanding. He's gives a ton of partial credit, is extremely able to understand, and explains things thoroughly!
He is one of the best Math teachers in UConn. His funny/corny jokes make Differential Equations enjoyable. The tests are easy, and midterms are easier. This class really boosted my GPA. Even if you dont pay a lot of attention in class and simply copy his notes down, you are all set.
Good professor
Best math professor I've had. If you go to lecture you don't have to read the book because he does such a good job covering the material. He'll often give hints as to what will be on the exam and even held a review session for us during finals. Exams were exactly what he said they would be and the quizzes weren't bad either. Take DifEq with him.
Great teacher. When I read the textbook I have no clue what is being read. Being in his class makes the content in the textbook so much easier to understand. Makes funny jokes and keeps you engaged. Highly recommend for any math class that he teaches.
Personally, I think Professor Rizzie was somewhat unprofessional and often rude to our class. I got by with an B+ just from going to my discussion section and rarely attending lectures. Had I gone to all the lectures... probably would have gotten an easy A
Best math professor ever. Makes everything seem so easy. He really wants to make sure you know the material and is always there for questions or extra help. Wish he was teaching diff q next semester. Definitely would take another class with him in a heartbeat.
One of the best professors I've had - Anthony is amazing! He's always so prepared and is ready to clarify anything if needed. I would take another class instructed by him if I had the opportunity to! It's a shame Calc3 turned into a large lecture bc he offered group quizzes/assignments. Go to lecture!! So important. His exams are tough (but fair)
Prof. Rizzie is pretty easy, if you go to class, do the webassign's weekly and study a fair amount for the tests you should be able to pull an A. He does take attendance, but very rarely and randomly and it doesn't count for much.
Worst professor ever. Teach nothing in the lecture, my ta also explain nothing unless u ask him. No problem set before the exams and only give u a sample exam the day before exam and explain nothing to it. His slide, quiz, sample exam and real exam are totally different. Also there is 3 midterm each 50 mins w/ 8 questions, time is barely enough.
I love Professor Rizzie! He really wants all of his students to succeed. He is always there during office hours for extra help. I'm definitely taking Diffeq with him next sememester!
He's the best professor for this class. He teaches with powerpoints that you can print out beforehand and take notes on (I recommend this). If you skip this class, you will have trouble catching up. The only bad thing is that the textbook is expensive and you don't use it, so try to buy just the WebAssign code which you 100% need for the homework.
Definitely a solid choice, he is very helpful and does truly want his students to succeed. He does do a good job of explaining the material but doesn't post the problems online. The class is a tough, fast-paced class, but Rizzie's fair. If you show up to class and keep up with the assignments then you should be fine.
Professor Rizzie is the best math instructor I have ever had. Go to the lectures, take notes, and refer to your notes when doing the homework. He is very genuine and teaches things in a way thats very easy to understand. (lecture slides are filled out in lectures so you really have to go!)
very good professor. professional but fun. tries to care for everyone. tests are pretty difficult just because the class is.
Anthony was a great professor. He keeps his lectures moving and isn't a bland speaker. He is reasonable in his expectations. Grades are made up of 3 exams, weekly homework, in class participation and discussion quizzes. He posts all of the lectures online so missing class isn't a big deal. Overall would 100% recommend.
The professor himself is very good especially if you are able to meet with him in office hours. This course was extremely difficult for me, I was unable to grasp a lot of the concepts and remember all of the formulas for different types of problems. Final is cumulative, exams are VERY hard, but that's not Rizzie's fault.
If you're taking 1070Q, make sure it's with Rizzie or you'll regret it. Great teacher, very efficient in teaching the material, and lectures got out 30 minutes early a lot. Exams are straightforward. Tries to help students out and drops a ton of grades (4 HWs, 2 quizzes). If it were in his control, the whole class would get A's.
A funny guy. Cares about his students. Extremely helpful. Sometimes Can be rude but overall a nice person. Exams questions are the mixture of easy, difficult and very tricky. Makes you work extremely hard for it but you will learn for sure. Concepts are not that bad, but lack of practice problems similar to exam question makes it very hard.
The class was kind of ridiculous since you don't get much to prepare the exams. None of the quiz or worksheet solutions was posted and the exams are different from the practice exams. The prof was hilarious but can be rude sometimes. I would say take with caution.
He's a great teacher, a bit dorky and tries to be funny which makes class interesting. Clicker questions and he teaches the material really well so going to class is worth it. Exams are fair, multiple choice and partial credit. You have to work for the A but its obtainable with him as a teacher.
Professor Rizzie puts a lot of work into his teaching and all of his material is very useful. He also listens to all student feedback, which is really cool. For multi, I would say that he makes it very possible to get an A because of the large amount of supplementary material and clear/fair test questions.
Professor Rizzie was the best professor I've had so far at UCONN. He is genuinely interested in helping students understand. After taking multi with him, I have such a clear understanding of the subject where I'd be comfortable teaching it to someone else. He gives plenty of supplemental material to help you practice which is important for math.
I took Rizzie for Multivariable (2110) and Math 2410 (differential equations). I would recommend him for both. You absolutely don't need the textbook for his classes. Make sure to take notes along with him during lecture. He is a great guy to talk to, makes math not painful, and he loves a good meme and math puns so attach one to your homework.
Rizzie makes sure to use pretty tough examples in class which allows the test's to seem easier.
Overall great guy and professor. I had him for multivariable calc and his lectures were so helpful and well organized. He's a super funny guy and makes jokes all the time to lighten the mood. He explains concepts very clearly, and really wants his students to succeed.
Hilarious guy, and truly an exceptional professor. He's comprehensive and clear when it comes to explaining the concepts, and his jokes help capture your interest. Come to class or else you'll fall behind. Clickers count as participation. The quizzes are very helpful in introducing topics.
Rizzie is a very funny professor who's easy to understand and knows what he is doing. Not once in that class was I bored to the point of where I didn't pay attention. Whenever he'd feel like the class wasn't paying attention, he would use a math joke from a book he had that he used every lecture. The tests were easy provided you took calc before
Anthony "Mmkay" Rizzie is literally obsessed with the phrase "Mmkay?" Unless he is quoting South Park, he will most likely be found constructing hyperbolic paraboloids with play-dough. So, if you love south park and play-dough then Tony is your guy!!!
Rizzie was really helpful with Calc 1. Doesn't do extra credit but you will definitely get your desired grade if you go to his office hours/reach out to him. He's more than willing to help you understand the concepts and do well in the class. TAs are useless for this class, go straight to the source and talk to Rizzie.
Rizzie is a great professor. He's really great at helping you understand the material and his tests are very fair. He is accessible outside of class and really cares about his students. Highly recommend going to lecture so you really understand what's going on
Rizzie is the best choice for Multi. He is a great lecturer and makes Multivariable Calculus manageable and interesting. He is great about explaining the topics and answering questions. Very fair grading system. Also has great jokes.
He barely gives any credits. If you complete messed up, he will NOT give credit at all. He isn't really detailed on his question. He makes joke videos, but it is not that funny. He will not offer extra credit for students even if they do struggle. The exams are LONG but with short time period. He expects a lot of us. He's hard, He's not EASY!
Really nice guy. The grading is as fair as it can be, if you have any idea what the question is asking and what concept to apply you will get partial credit. Rizzie is there for his students and wants them to excel. Go to his office hours he will help you any way he can. He tries to make a difficult class fun for students! Take Rizzie if you can!
Rizzie is probably your best bet for any math course at UConn, that is if he is teaching it that semester! Calc 3 is, to be frank, tough-especially at the start. Rizzie works through examples in class which are extremely helpful! Also, class is amazingly entertaining and informative. Rizzie may be a once in a lifetime professor, take his class!!
Rizzie really is a great professor that cares about his students. Because of that, this class is a lot more interesting. The only complaint is the exams can be tricky at times with a few oddball questions that come out of nowhere. Besides that Rizzie is a funny, interesting, and great professor.
This class meets 5 days a week, 3 lectures, 2 discussions. In addition you have 2 web assigns (at lest) due weekly, 2 worksheets due in discussion weekly, and a quiz weekly. There is a lot of work. But he is a funny professor and good at explaining. He keeps lectures interesting. The exams are HARD, he even says this.
He's a great instructor and also has a dad joke during every lecture so you don't want to miss that! You also don't want to miss lecture because some topics covered in lecture aren't covered in discussion. Definitely the best option for Calc 3.
There is a lot of work but he is a great lecturer. He makes sure to do some harder examples to help grasp the concept and always makes some jokes. The exams were difficult but we were told that in advance and there is partial credit. He's one of the best professor I've had, I would recommend to any and everyone.
good test grading policy and interesting lecture. Test is easy and straightforward.
Professor Rizzie brings the energy. In a world of boring math professors, Rizzie takes the cake as being one of the few that isn't.
You actually have to work to do well in this class, and the exams are pretty hard, but Anthony is a great professor. He makes lecture interesting and is very accessible outside of class (he is very helpful in office hours). He genuinely cares that his students understand and teaches in interesting ways.
hard class and his exam too he does not do any a lot of example during the lecture . avoid it if you are not good on math
Professor Rizzie is enthusiastic and really wants his students to succeed. Would highly reccomend. Made Calc 3 manageable.
Home work is extremely hard, and no curve on the exam.
Rizzie is a great professor & lecturer. He makes hard concepts a lot easier to understand. He is strict on missing quizzes, but one gets dropped. If you do poorly on exam 1 or 2, if you do better on the final he will replace the lowest exam grade with the score you got on the final. If you go to class, discussion, and do WebAssign, you'll do well.
He is awesome. His lectures are very beneficial, has new jokes every time, and does kahoot as a break/practice. 2110Q is sometimes told as one of the easier calculus' but when it gets rough, Rizzie can help. He can meet with you outside office hours just to help you. You will want him for your lecture, he knows his stuff.
Rizzie is great, his lectures are engaging while still getting the information across. The homework can be a bit tough every now and then, but his tests and quizzes are fair. Would recommend to anyone.
Hard class. The material is very confusing and the fact that the professor just reads off of power points does not make it any easier. Whether you have an A or D in the class, the general consensus from people I know is that his lectures are useless and do not help. Take Myron if you have the ability, he is by far a better lecturer.
The guys not that bad, not the best, not the worst, but probably over rated. Class notes (same material presented in lectures) are posted online, and are useful overall.
Rizzie is awesome. Lectures helpful and fun as well. His bad math jokes are honestly a great break in the middle of class. Both exams weren't bad if you go to lecture you'll be fine. Quizzes also were very fair and if you listen in discussion you'll be fine, you can also redo the quiz for half points back. Overall great prof would take him again.
Best professor at UConn. Wants to help you succeed. Awesome guy who is so knowledgable and caring. Made a hard class really manageable
The best professor I've ever met at UConn. He always prepares his classes carefully, including jokes haha. Even though I couldn't understand all those jokes, it was so fun for me to see him telling jokes. It was a very good way to attract student's attentions when the course material itself is not as interesting as other courses.
Good professor. Lecture can get a little boring sometimes but they are very important to understand the content. Study the review sheets he gives and you'll be all set for the exams.
Rizzie is a pretty good professor and tells daily math jokes in his lectures. The lectures weren't too bad, but I didn't end up going for the second half of the semester because the class wasn't hard and could still end with an A. He drops the lowest homework which is helpful if you missed one. Homework was always wayy harder than the actual tests.
One of the best math professors in my opinion. Take his multivariable (or other classes) if you have the opportunity. He's course expectations are very clear, and exams are not hard but the problems are interesting. For his online 2110Q course, take advantage of the office hours and Piazza discussion boards to ask questions.
Took this class last semester and he graded it ridiculously. The average for my discussion section was a D+ and the average on the final was a 59%. He refused to curve the class at all even though every exam average was under a 68%. Unbelievable, half the kids in the class said they were gonna retake it with a different professor.
Rizzie is a fantastic professor and you can't go wrong with picking him or Myron if given the choice. He is thorough in lecture with explaining concepts and does plenty of example problems that he will do along with you. Completing homework will prepare you well for the quizzes and exams.
Best Math professor I had ever have. He gave a quite clear grading criteria at the beginning of the class. For Multivariable Calc, I took this class last semester with him, he says that as long as you do the web assign, go to your discussion class, you gonna to be fine in this class. Plus, he made the class very funny. Go for it!
Prof. Rizzie is good at explaining concepts clearly, and very funny in lecture. It's a difficult course, mostly due to the quizzes and reliance of visualization. Overall, great professor though. If you're not a fan of rigor/proof, then Multi will be a bit easier than Calc 2. If you are then vice versa.
Hes a very good professor gives out a lot of homework in web-assign and you have a quiz every-week during discussion. Test are very hard.
Hes a complete tool box who needs a reality check. His class makes u do ridiculous things for a college environment
Rizzie is super fair and a good teacher. I took Multi during the Summer. 4-Week class. BE CAREFUL... you have to learn entire chapters in 2-3 days, which can get crazy. Exams are heavily proctored, but the class isn't too hard. Much easier than Calc II, so don't freak out! Rizzie tries to make it fun, and cracks a few jokes along the way. Enjoy it!
Meeting once a week + group assignments with people who may not even talk to you. ALL HW gets graded 100, then you have an exam. Decent for a math course all online but you're really teaching yourself.
Anthony Rizzie is one of the best professors at UConn. I had him for MATH 2110 as well and he really cares about his students and is willing to meet for extra office hours if you need it. His lectures are really thorough and really good. With it online, it's not as mandatory, but lectures are really helpful! I love Professor Rizzie!
One of the most amazing professors ever! He is one of those rare professors that actually care about you learning and understanding the material. He is very accessible outside of class, and quick to respond. He will go the extra mile to make sure you understand the material and will help you however he can. 18/10 would take class with him again.
Because this class was taught online, there were several different professors that taught lectures that were all asynchronous, but the units that Rizzie taught were well done. There were regularly two webassign due a week, sometimes more. The quizzes were taken in a group setting, which helped a lot as those are weighted heavily.
Prof Rizzie is one of the most understanding professors I've had. Because of online, I didn't really get to see his lecturing ability, but he was very organized, helpful, and made sure to accommodate for difficulties students had with the class and COVID in general.
Rizzie is a gem. I was nervous for Calc III but he made it very understandable and I really felt like I mastered the concepts. He's very approachable and his explanations are very helpful. I went to lecture/discussion and took good notes and got 100s on both midterms without the textbook.
Rizzie is a great professor but I took this course online Fall 2020 and thought it was a disaster. The department split up responsibility for the lecture videos so there is no quality control or consistency with what person will be teaching each chapter and how in depth they go, etc. Avoid taking this online unless you are good at math.
Very very nice guy. He only wants you to be happy and do well. Probably best prof at UConn so far. He even allows you to get back 5% on each test if you correct a question.
Probably the best professor at Uconn. Hands down, if you can move your whole schedule round to ensure you have this man.
Professor Rizzie is extremely passionate about his students, he genuinely cares about our wellbeings. The class was super easy, we met once a week and did all of our assignments and exams in groups. As long as you show up to class and submit assignments on time you are able to receive an A.
Yes, this course is hard, but he tries his best to explain it in the easiest ways possible. There are 2 Web Work assignments due every week, but they will enhance your understanding of the topic. He jokes, but still manages to keep the class in order. There are 3 tokens you can split between 2 exams (can redo problems, gain back credit).
Rizzie is one of a kind and you should take him if you have them option. He makes learning a difficult subject really straightforward. Not to mention he's genuinely the most caring prof I've met at UConn. Light work load and exams aren't bad especially if you do the practice problems. Would give more than 5/5 if possible.
Professor Rizzie is easily the best professor I've ever had at UConn, no one even comes close. He makes the lectures interesting by making jokes, but he's also great at explaining things and introducing topics in a way that is easy to understand. Just do the practice problems before exams and pace yourself, and you shouldn't have any issues.
Professor Rizzie is very caring. All quizzes are graded on participation so as long as you try it's an easy 100. Doesn't force his students to use a program that records them when taking exams and actually trusts his students which is rare to see. He made what would have been a challenge math class into a much easier and stress-free semester.
His lectures are insanely useless. I found that they were very long and belabored useless information. I had better luck using YouTube to learn the entire syllabus. The content is easy, but I did not find any of his explanations useful and I had to go out of my way to teach myself the course. assignments dont always relate to what was "taught'.
Professor Rizzie (aka razzle dazzle) is really one of my favorite math professors. The textbook, lectures and homework were easy to follow. He does put in his dad jokes, which I find very corny lol. Definitely pick him if you need to complete gen ed. Easy A and I was able to make a few friends in his class. 100/10!
Anthony Rizzie was a great professor for Calc 3. His lecture videos online were super helpful and the class as a whole was very fair and not too much work.
Honestly one of the coolest professors I've ever had, I took the course online but I would show up to his live lectures and watch his videos and he made it so easy to understand differential. He has quizzes that he grades on effort and 4 exams but he has 2 different options on grading percentages to give you the best grade. Best professor for calc.
Professor Rizzie is an amazing professor who cares deeply about his students. His homework and quizzes are easy as long as you pay attention during the class lectures. Since this was an online course, he recorded all lectures and posted it once class was over. The website used for homework is helpful as it provides examples of similar problems. C
Take prof Rizzie whenever you get the chance! He is there to help you succeed, and really wants you to get an A.
It was online, but he is there if you need help. He is a very caring professor, and I genuinely enjoyed his class. We met once a week, with a Wed. option for help, and Fridays were just if we had a (group!) quiz. No exams, and homework due every Wednesday online with unlimited tries. Highly recommend if your're not mathy!
If you get the chance to pick him as a professor, do it. He was the nicest professor I ever had. Even though the class was online, his lecture videos were really helpful and explained the topics well. He made a hard subject really understandable.
I was in a unique situation in that I was in the first honors section of this class which focused mainly on a giant portfolio project rather than a series of tests/quizzes. I preferred this and Rizzie allowed the students to have a lot of say in the structure of this honors section. All the other reviews are true - just a great, caring professor.
Best professor ever!! Rizzie was so nice and understanding. His exams were very fair and his grading was too and he always gave good and encouraging feedback. He was easy to get ahold of through email and Piazza. His exams are open all day with no lockdown. Material is not too bad and with his teaching methods it makes it very easy to follow.
His exam are extremely hard compared to the other work and his homework is a ton. Homeworks and exams do not correlate. He is nice and will be very understanding. He is a cool guy
Prof Rizzie is amazing. He thoroughly explains the topics and gives good feedback when you have questions. He understands that students take other classes and cuts them some slack when they may need it. He doesn't overuse his TAs and actually teaches the course. Highly recommend taking this class with him if you need it.
He is super caring about his students and just an all around good guy. I took this course online, so exams were open all day with no Lockdown Browser, and he gave us a good amount of time for homeworks and quizzes. Also, quizzes only counted for completion, not accuracy. His lectures were informative and helpful. Take Anthony if you can, he's great
Professor Rizzie is very nice and caring. If you're stuck on something don't hesitate to reach out. His lectures are good and aren't mandatory to attend, but its good to attend them anyways. Would definitely love to take another math course with him.
He takes it easy on you and is so understanding.
Nice guy and hilarious but his online lecturers were not great and were poorly presented. Do yourself a favor and take Hall instead.
Nice guy, great lecturers, always willing to help!
Anthony is very nice, and accommodating if you run into trouble with an assessment. I am not very good at math, but he taught it well enough for me to understand. All assessments are on Fridays, and if there is not an assessment assigned for that week (they usually are biweekly), you don't meet. The material of the course is a little boring though.
i loved this class. anthony was great. he makes it so simple and easy to learn. he also does examples with class input, like we voted on the best dining hall and did a halloween party example and themed stuff like that. it was fun!! i'm honestly going to miss the class. if you need a Q credit definitely take this. group quizzes were really helpful
Rizzie is amazing person but tbh he's not the best teacher, he doesn't actually lecture. He makes you watch old videos he has done about the material but often doesn't expand on that knowledge and expects you to understand the material right away. The exams can be a bit long so if you don't understand the material you can literally fail the class.
Professor Rizzie is a really great guy. Has a genuine love for math that will rub off on you. Class is very exam heavy however but final is substituted for a final portfolio. Lectures are not required since he posts pre-recorded lectures if that floats your boat more. Very reasonable guy overall.
Rizzie was the best professor I've had here at UConn. Incredibly kind, accessible, and most importantly, enjoyable to learn from. Classes were engaging, and he always clarified what would be on the exams and quizzes. The final portfolio was simple--grading was not too difficult. Overall, a super enjoyable class, would definitely recommend.
Need a Q course requirement? This class with this guy I beg you. I never knew a math course could be so relevant to life and understandable. His explanatory skills and notes are superb for quizzes and you won't find a more caring professor. He actively wants everyone to pass. His silly jokes & references to Nintendo games make him very personable.
Took the winter course and have attended so many of his online virtual sessions for credit. He's always so positive and energetic and clearly cares about the subject he teaches. He's dedicated to helping his students learn and is very humorous which is a plus.
He is such a nice guy and makes sure everyone understands. He is very easy going and cancels class often. Test were also super easy.
Dr. Rizzie is so understanding and truly makes this class so easy to succeed in. There are quizzes and homework assignments on MyOpenMath. The homework can be super tedious and sometimes confusing but you are given a lot of attempts to get a perfect score. There's a final paper due at the end of semester (haven't done it yet) but heard it's easy.
I typically have a very hard time in math classes but this course was extremely easy to understand. Rizzie is also such an amazing professor and actually cares about his students. There are a lot of quizzes but you get to work in groups in class and as long as you do the HW and understand the concepts, you'll ace them. Concepts are very easy too!
amazing course, amazing professor - wish i had for all my math courses. very friendly and understanding! was falling behind on classes and he game me an extension for the homework. would 1000% take again!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Lectures go over the material, but there are also videos if you learn better that way. This course is really difficult and time consuming, but he is very understanding and gave me extensions and extra resources if I needed them, no questions asked. He really loves math and it shows :)
Rizzie was by far one of the best calc professors I've had! Really gives everyone the opportunity to do well. He interacts with students in lecture which makes it really engaging. He is super fair and understands that everyone has other classes they're taking and makes the class super manageable. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend his class!
MATH1030Q with him is by far the easiest course at UConn. There are bi-weekly quizzes and homework assignments that are easy. There is no final exam, just a final paper which is very easy and he gives you extra credit for submitting a rough draft. He is so understanding and nice - this class is a godsend.
Rizzie was the best professor. His lectures were always fun with jokes, but even learning he explained concepts very well for a class that challenges you conceptually. Every quiz/exam was very fair, and he'll usually tell you what to prepare for (just ask!). There is no cumulative final exam, just a portfolio worth 10%. An A is very achievable!
Great class to fill Q course! Professor Rizzie is super relaxed and wants you to succeed. All quizzes are open book and done in groups, homework is unlimited attempts, and final is a 1-page paper. Highly recommend
An amazing professor. Took his class last semester and it was so easy. HW had mult attempts and there were video examples you could click on. Tests were in groups so it was very easy to pass. He is extremely nice, a little nerdy, but was very passionate and engaging
Best calculus 3 professor at the school, easily. He's a great lecturer and really passionate about what he does, and I've loved my time in the course with him. I really don't have a lot to say - the rest of the reviews and his score being so high do that justice. One of my favorite math professors ever.
Loved Rizzie's class. Every topic has an online lecture already so you never really have to show up, but personally I preferred to go to class because I found his lectures quite helpful. Quizzes are a joke, tests are a bit harder but you get a note sheet. Final is just a bunch of take home problems that are pretty easy. Would definitely recommend
The other reviews say it all. This guy is the best + he's funny
Professor Rizzie was great. You get to do the work on your own time, and he allows group work on the quizzes, though you are not forced to work with anyone. He is an easy grader and only requires that you show your work. Rizzie is funny and makes the online lectures enjoyable. He responds to emails quickly too. Do homework and ask questions. Easy A
Kind of Overrated in my opinion. He cancelled class constantly, and skipped that lecture, having us try to figure out a difficult concept on our own. Class wasn't too bad. He is a great guy and a good teacher, but it was just unfortunate that half of the lectures were cancelled. (Like actually, I did the math)
Lectures are not structured; it feels like he makes it up as he goes because there's no slides which doesn't fit my learning style. The bad jokes get annoying after a while and though he's a nice person and very accommodating, I didn't really vibe with him.
The numbers speak for themselves - best math professor at UConn
This is a perfect Q course for those who struggle in math. The topics were fairly easy and he makes the lectures fun (lots of dad jokes). Theres homework and quizzes due every other week and he allows us to do quizzes as a group in breakout rooms. Lectures and notes are always posted online if you miss a lecture.
You would be out of your mind to take Multivariable Calculus without Anthony Rizzie.
Great professor makes multi very easy
As long as you watch the lecture videos and do the optional homework, you are guaranteed an A. The quizzes are literally the homework and the exams have cheat sheets so you can write down all the formulas. The final is a portfolio which is also pretty easy. The lecture videos were engaging and good at explaining the concepts!
I took Professor Rizzie's class Spring 24'. He was an amazing professor; he made all his topics very clear and easy to understand. He's also a super nice and funny person that made me excited to join his class every day, even though it was over zoom. Highly recommend!
Rizzie makes the class so easy. The homework can be challenging at times and take a long time to finish, the exams are always a breeze. I never struggled on any of the exams and he made all the questions and topics known before class if you attend class. I would recommend not doing the homework and instead do the more exam heavy grade distribution.
Rizzie is a legend - engaging lectures, fair assessments, and helpful extra resources. unstuck study was a game-changer for mastering the tough concepts.
He structured his class the same as with his MATH2110 class, making it very flexible to complete assignments. There were 4 exams with questions no harder than the practice worksheets, with the option to skip the final. Prof. Rizzie makes it clear that he doesn't care grading but rather learning! He made sure to memorize everyone's name in class.
Rizzie is a great professor, the class is structured for success, with all the homework in the entire course being optional, you can choose which ones you want to do and which assignments you don't. Class is much easier than 1132Q
Professor Anthony is one of the kindest and most understanding professors I've had. This semester was tough, but his compassion and support made a huge difference. He truly cares about his students, as PEOPLE, and wants them to succeed. His class is fair, engaging, and well-structured. If you can take his class, do it—you won't regret it.
This class is structured very generously, with 40% of the grade essentially being a free 100, participation being a free 110, the quizzes are participation. The lecture videos were pretty good and exams are open note, challenging but manageable. Also is very flexible with outside circumstances when it comes to due dates and missed assignments.
As someone who hates math and only needed it as a requirement, this was the best math class I could've taken. Professor Rizzie is extremely caring and understands that not everyone is good at math. Everything is extremely accessible and you do not need to attend the lectures as long as you hand in quizzes/homework on time, it is an easy A.
You either die A HERO or live long enough to become THE VILLAIN.
This professor is liked by many and for good reason. He makes jokes a lot which helps to lighten the mood and he explains topics pretty well too. You can tell he enjoys teaching, which is great. I don't remember if there was a textbook, but I never used it if there was. If you have to take this class, take it with this professor.
He genuinely cares about his students and can be lenient with deadlines. He realizes his students are human. He can go a little fast in lectures at times, but he great with answering questions and posts all his notes afterwards. I would 100% recommend taking Rizzie.
I love Rizzie and his teaching methods. If you are someone that learns based on an understanding of why things work... he is the teacher for you!! Really have no complaints and I look forward to taking more classes with him.
Best professor I've had at UConn. While this was definitely a top 5 hardest class for me, the lectures are very good and will answer any questions you have. Always tries to brighten everyone's day and gets to know every student on a personal level if you'll allow it. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, do it.
I had Dr. Rizzie for Multi and genuinely enjoyed my time, I made sure to pick him again for DiffEQ and I am happy with my decision. Rizzie is generally very understanding and his exams are fair, also pretty lenient with deadlines and participation, he also offers a lot of extra credit. Rizzie handles DiffEQ with kindness, and that can go a long way
He seems nice at first, but once you disagree or make a mistake, he shuts down completely. He's stubborn, condescending, and won't take accountability. I tried to clarify and apologize, but he wasn't having it. Acts open to feedback, but it's really his way or nothing. Proceed with caution.
Hilarious guy with a clear passion for the subject. The class was well structured and offered many opportunities for retakes and extra credit.
Anthony is a great professor! Very clearly wants you to succeed in class. Phenomenal lectures, broke down multi and made it super digestible. Reasonable with csd/medical accommodations, can be flexible (especially with extra credit opportunities). Highly recommend taking his classes!
love Rizzie!!!
Its Rizzie. Goat professor. Very caring of students - wants everyone to succeed. Just overall amazing.
Anthony is a great professor for multi variable calculus as he is really passionate about the subject and makes good jokes to get through the lectures. Provides ample extra credit opportunities with homework and in each of the 3 exams. Final prortfolio in place of final exam which is great. Highly recommend!
really good teacher, knew what he was doing. his lectures were okay, but I did not have to learn outside of lectures to do well. They also got boring as the semester went on. Syllabus was clear and very manageable, would take again!
Anthony was good he was just really quiet and he moved really fast in lecture. He does post the lecture slides after. This class was pretty challenging for me but he offered extra credit on exams, final portfolio (in lieu of final) and homeworks. He also lets you retake any exam u want. I got the A but i could not tell you a single thing I learned
He is genuinely so sweet. Lectures are great, he makes the material super easy to understand. If you can take calc 3 with him definitely do, he's open to helping whenever he can. Tests weren't too bad if you went to lecture and did the practice exam or some worksheets. Cheat sheet was extremely helpful on exams and there was no final exam.
