he is the vest teacher for anatomy explains everything very well and he helps as much as he can
Very helpful. Entertaining lectures. Challenging, but attainable 'A' if you apply yourself. Not very forgiving of late work. Doesn't assign extra credit.
hes so cool I really liked his class he shows a lot of respect to everyone. his class is pretty hard and the tests really kick @## !!
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THE SUBJECT, EXTREMELY ORGANIZED, KEEPS LECUTRE MATERIAL CAPTIVATING. BY FAR THE BEST INSTURCTOR FOR BIOLOGY. AN A IS OBTAINABLE IF YOU APPLY YOURSELF. AWESOME OVERALL!!!
Anthony Tesch is a pleasant person who still knows what it's like to be a student. He's a refreshing change from the norm.
Good teacher he knows his stuff. He only tests on things covered in class. He writes everything you need to know on the board and gives a note outline guide for every lecture. Little to no homework just studding.
Nice guy, students must be highly motivated to learn outside of class b/c his tests are intensive, but fair. he covers the material very well and knows what he's talking about. I suggest a morning class with him he's still fresh!, afternoons he's tired, nights he's even more tired and stressed too.
Lectures are amusing and makes the material very easy to learn. The book only reinforces what he lectures about. Book not mandatory to read. Tests are based on his lectures. Taking him again next semester for A&P 2.
Best professor. Extremely organized, hard working. Notes ate crystal.
Tesch was by far the best professor I've ever had. I remember everything I learned in A&P 1, 2. He is extremely smart and very entertainnig/makes time go by fast. His test are super hard but they are exactly what he teaches so (just memorize it and understand it to perfection) and ull get an A
Great teacher that really wants you to learn! His lectures & notes are very organized and he clearly outlines expectations. If you do the work & study, you will get an A.
Avoid at all costs.
Best professor I have EVER had. This instructor is passionate about what he teaches and cares about you learning the material. He teaches straight from the book & it is are already outlined for you from lecture! The exams are based on lecture notes & are mult. choice & a few essay Q's. I took both A&P 1 and 2 with him and recieved an "A" in both.
Excellent prof. He will test directly from lecture notes so you really don't need a book! All the info you need is stated in his class, so attendence is mandatory. He's fair, ethical about errors or mistakes, and will work with you if you need help. Highly recommend him if your serious about studying and excelling in school!
Great professor! always willing to help & wants you to learn while keeping the class fun & enjoyable
I love this teacher! As he says he may "spoon feed" you the info, but you need to understand and memorize it. I wish he taught more science courses. One of my best professors ever
I will take him again. I recomend him for anatomy and phisiology.
I have been to more than one college in my journey to get to grad school for Ultrasonography, this college being the only community college, and let me say Dr. Tesch does not ack like a community college professor. The manner in which he teaches you really makes it so you have to actually learn the info, and KNOW it to do well. AMAZING CLASS!!!
Dr. Tesch is the BEST instructor I've had during my whole college experience! He's a teacher who actually - get ready for it - teaches! He enjoys his subject and the class enjoys it too! This is the only way to learn such a huge subject as A&P.
He's a phenomenal professor. Always delivers exciting and interesting lectures. He's uber cool as well. Can't say enough good things about this class!
Professor Tech Helps you pass Anat/Philo sooo much. Iv taken this class at other school and they make it seem like its rocket science. But Dr Tech feeds it to you like a baby! Go to class, take notes, Study for tests and youll pass! Plust hes not boring, actually funny guy! Reminds me of the guy from Mall Cop
Tesch is really a great professor. He knows the subject very well and he finds ways to make it extremely easy to understand and remember. His lectures can seem boring but he definitely tries to make it fun
Dr. Tesch is the single most fun and engaging professor I've ever had!! Everyone Loves Tesch. If you need to learn this challenging material - you have a helpful genius at the helm with his class.
super funny guy! tells you everything you need to know in class so make sure to go to the lectures. You dont need the textbook. Tests are straight from the notes and he makes it as interesting w/ his stories.
He is an awesome professor. The material can be difficult at times but he will help you if needed during office hours. He makes the topic interesting therefore you want to learn & do well. This class requires a lot of studying if you want to do well but it's all in you notes. Absolutely Fantastic!!!
Brilliant, really hot, hysterical. Dont know a single student who doesn't worship Tesch!! take this class and launch into a medical career the right way!
Great teacher! Loves Science and his students. Tests are difficult (multiple choice, t/f,& short answer), but no surprises. He's entertaining too! Book: mostly unnecessary, only for clarification and the cd (very helpful!!). Only problem: It can be hard to ask him questions, lots of people waiting for office hours & he talks more than he listens.
did he graduated from UCLA I was tlkin abt Riverside. tchr resp back to me UCLA wldnt wnt me. I tried 2 b nice but again I got the ur blonde & stupid surmon frm his own mouth. Thnks maybe ull read this & understand what u said wrong there. I'll pass with criticism but I guarantee the college wldnt like that at all. Maybe I should ask the dean....
He is an AMAZING professor. He's a smart a$$, but I liked it & thought it was funny. His exams are REALLY easy if you go to lab & actually do the labs instead of leaving. His labs are stations & he gives you word banks to pick from. If you have a question he will help you. I would recommend him for labs, didn't have him for lecture. HE'S GREAT
One of my favorite teachers at COD, He is great because he actually likes his job and wants you to learn. He does everything a teacher can do in order for students to do well like: giving homework before exams, leaving practice exams at the library, and doing full study guides. Plus he doesn?t use power point slides like every other professor!
Awesome class, instructor is passionate about the material and is very interesting and lively
Amazing at breaking down the subject matter. Completely fair with grading. Do the work and you'll be just fine.
Relatively easy class if you go to every class and put your study time in.
Tesch rocked. He made the class interesting with his stories. He tells you what he wants. Hes definately passionate about his work and it shows. I passed with an A, but it was alot of studying. He teaches almost completely of his lectures and labs. I loved Tesch.
Dr. Tesch is an asset to COD- this class is not for slackers-he made A & P 13/14 an enormous challenge and a gift. My study group enjoyed his personality and teaching method. We liked him and I believe the feeling was mutual. Hard core studying, but fun when you realize this is where you should be.
I get fustrated with him because he stands infront of what he writes on the board. His method of teaching is really well prepared. I don't think he has a weak topic of teaching so he makes everything very clear.
He lives and breathes his work. He is smart, organized and wants to help when students ask. The course objectives are broken down exactly how he teaches them, there are no surprises. He adds humor to his lectures and strives hard to do his best, if not go beyond. What we all want in a teacher, dedication and passion for the subject he respects.
Dr. Tesch is a wonderful professor. I really enjoyed his class. I would recommend taking him to anybody interested in the world of science cause he knows his stuff!!!
He's my favorite professor at COD and probably my favorite class! Super hard and crazy. No social life. But so worth it!
This class is NOT easy at all you will need to study a lot. The study guides are very helpful, and he does answer your questions. Great professor and a very approachable person.
LOTS of info very fast. If you don't attend lecture regularly you will fail. Professor is and intelligent man and a dynamic speaker. Labs were interesting but lots of info for lab exams as well. Great class but you have to put the effort in.
Tesch is brilliant and he knows it. He is organized, prepared and devoted to his job. He can be moody and pls don't take it personal, he has a good heart. Material is hard but interesting. Study in groups and show up to ALL lectures. Tesch is a great asset to COD. (Sawa as well!!!) good luck!!
Hard class but great lectures. Given the opportunity I would take another class from him.
AMAZING professor! If you have to take bio you better get tesch!!! he is not about tricking the students! word for word what he puts on his notes will be on the test if u study his lecture handouts u will get an A on lecture exams! take advantage of his olds tests that he pretty much gives you because he uses a lot of the same questions! ilovehim!
MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND LECTURE & LAB. GO TO OPEN LAB IF YOU CAN. IT HELPS! USE THE NOTES OUTLINE HE PROVIDES ON BB FOR LECTURE (IT MAKES YOUR LIFE EASIER) WHEN ITS TIME FOR A TEST PLEASE STUDY THE "RESERVED" TEST AT OUR LIBRARY. THEY HELP A TON!!!!! GREAT PROFESSOR. I'D TAKE HIS CLASS AGAIN.
Professor Tesch is there for his students. Listen to what he says about studying and keeping up with the work load, if not you will not do well in this class. He's very clear on what he teaches and is always there for office hours if you need extra help. Overall a really good professor!
Dr. Tesch is simply amazing. His lectures are never dull and the study guides are wonderfully designed to help you pass the exams. He makes a difficult material interesting and approachable.
The class itself was hard. You have to be able to keep it up with Dr. Tesch because he talks very fast but explains everything in detail. He does not like to be interrupted but that's because there's so much material to cover and so little time. He will answer your questions though. He's the perfect example of "tough love."
Super hard class, especially for non native English speakers. Lots of memorizing, reading, and studying. But if you study every day for about 2 hours, take all notes during lectures, and go to open lab, you'll get an A for sure. Ask questions if you're not sure about something. Professor Tesch is a really good teacher!!! always willing to help.
Not bad, do homework and you're fine.
Great professor, Very interesting lectures, and he is funny! Don't skip classes, do the homework and it never hurts to show up for office hours.
He gives great lectures and is very enthusiastic about the material. Exams are tough but passable if you work for it.
BIO 13 I love this professor I would definitely take him again. He is really helpful, do his reserved exams, exam study guide, homework, study a lot. And you will pass his class. Study his lecture notes Go to open lab! Do videos Don't be embarrassed to ask him anything, he likes it!!!
Best teacher I have ever had. You can see that he enjoys his job and the lectures are funny and interesting. Anatomy is a hard class, but if you read the book and take the practice test he has in the library you will at least get a B. The lab was fun and straight forward. Lots of memorizing. Always take his classes if you can.
The lab is solo, so no lab partners which I preferred, you are responsible for yourself. You get 5 points just for showing up to lecture each day. Study guides for lab are golden w/his notes. For lecture just know his notes & don't bother w/the book unless you need extra help. He keeps it funny and he's a smarty pants, so don't be sensitive.
Awesome professor! Seriously, just take him. He can be tough, but he really knows his stuff and how to share his knowledge. Would definitely take him again if I could !
His tests consists of the lecture notes as for lab exams study the study guide. So if you are solid on that you should do fine. Their are also quizzes before lab which are not hard but can make a difference in your grade. This class is not easy, requires a lot of studying and dedication. Great instructor overall.
Awesome professor! Such an intelligent and helpful man that I would have loved to take for all my science classes. He gives good feedback and provides all study material through lectures. I would highly recommend Dr. Tesch 3
One of the best professors I've ever had. He makes the lectures funny and interesting. I studied for 20 hours per test and got an A. I didn't really use the text book other than to review my chemistry and to better understand the electron transport chain. Every question from exams comes straight from notes. There's a lot of notes. Lab was cool to
Bio13 was just a lot of memorizing . Straight from lecture notes. Labs were not too bad if you studied the material and did the study guide. I used the book for the first 2 exams after that I would just memorize my notes. I RECOMMEND TO GO TO OPEN LABS. A lot of material to memorize but lectures were interesting even at 8am lecture.
Amazing teacher, tough subject. To even take Anatomy, you have to be extremely discipled and have great study skills. I recommend you do all the 5 homeworks and do no miss any! Also study the reserve exams in the library, which saved my grade! At least 10 hours of studying for this class an you will get an A. Good luck.
Professor Tesch is one of the funniest/best professors I've had. Although this class is tough, he makes it easier to understand the material and is straightforward with everything. Definitely recommend him if you're planning to take this course.
Dr. Tesch is an amazing professor! I wish he taught all science classes. You need to be ready to study and study hard! No surprises he lets you know up front what will be in test. His lectures will cover everything you need to know. This class is very time consuming so make sure you put in effort and you can get an A
Awesome prof! He cares about his students. 2000 point class, but lots of easy points like 5points for attendence everyday! Lab exams are pretty easy (easier than lecture exams). He give study guides for everything and covers everything in lecture. I never used the book and got an A. go to class everyday and study alot!!!! and you will get and A too
This class is not the most difficult in the world. If you are the type of student that doesn't like to attend lectures, YOU WILL HAVE A TOUGH TIME. His exam outlines will be the key to your grade. Do the work and you will pass. I got an A in this class and i studied a few days before the exams. Just attend the classes and pay attention. Easy A
Very thorough professor. Even though lecture attendance is not mandatory, you must go. His lecture notes are great and everything that he puts on the board WILL be on the test. Go to office hours, he appreciates students who go the extra mile to understand the material. Overall, great professor.
Great teacher with amazing lectures. Study guides are pretty much the test. Can tell he knows the content and is a very intelligent professor. Learned tons in this class.
Dr. Tesch's lectures were great. He has a way of relating the material to real life experiences and tells great stories which helps understand harder material better. You do have to work for your grade he gives extra credit points which saved me on more than one test. Highly recommend his class. 5pts for showing up on time everyday!
Great professor! Take him for BIO 014. You will learn a lot.
Would definitely take him again!
My favorite professor at COD. Wish I could have him for all my bio classes! Great lectures, and tests are only based on lecture. He gives you everything you need to succeed(Study guides, practice tests, etc.) He is always available if you need help! Microbio is cool. if you dont like this class, your probs not in the right career choice
I took Tesch for both Bio 013 and 015. I wish I could have took him in Bio 014 too but he does not teach the class. Honestly my FAVORITE instructor by far. He is very specific on how he wants things done but for GOOD reason! He has sample tests available in the library from previous years and they help SO MUCH! I would HIGHLY recommend him!
I took Tesch for both Bio 013 and 015. I wish I could have took him in Bio 014 too but he does not teach the class. Honestly my FAVORITE instructor by far. I was so worried to take my first biology class, but Professor Tesch made it possible! He is very organized and overall amazing!
I SUCK at science and I had to study REALLY hard DAILY but Tesch is by far the best science professor, he's hilarious and fun and makes it clear what he wants from you and that made a hard class a little easier!! There is a LOT to memorize but his tests are straight from his notes so just make flashcards! Don't buy the book, you won't use it
BEST PROFESSOR! took him in the summer he comes off as a hard ass the first day of school but he is an amazing teacher who cares about his students. He grades extremely fast so you'll now your grade right away. He provides fill-in note outlines for each chapter so you won't need a textbook. You'll learn a lot from him. He's passionate about science
Tesch is an amazing professor! You can tell he loves what he does, which makes it easier as a student to get into the material he's teaching. He's tough but makes himself available if you need the extra help. TAKE GOOD NOTES. Everything you'll need to know will be on your notes. I only used the book for the online HW.
He's definitely one of THE BEST teachers. Show up to class everyday for participation points. Copy & study all the notes he gives you in class. Print, practice, & study the sample exams located at the library. Stay focused and engaged during lectures or else you'll get lost real quick. He talks very fast. I'm excited to take Microbio with him
By far the best professor at COD. Never a dull moment in any of his classes and when you leave? ALL THE INFORMATION IS RETAINED. Tesch goes above and beyond for his students and you will actually feel like you learned a great deal. DONT BE LATE. He hates that.
DefInitely the best bio professor I've had by far. May come off too strict at first but that's only to help you in the long run. He is to the point- teaches you only what you need to know and doesn't stray off topic. Lectures keep you interested the entire time because he relates them to real life. Stay motivated entire course & you'll be fine.
Best prof ever, Prof Tesh is a true Instructor. Truely teaches no BS. He goes out og hes way to help out.I ONLY WISH he would teach more BIO classes. I will miss him. Dont be late and miss on the extra points, use reserve exams Helps!! lots for the test. Office hours work great is like having a one on one class. He motivates to keep on going.
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Expect 8+ hours of studying/homework a week. Professor Tesch does everything possible to ensure the information is given in a way that will stick with you though. Take advantage of his open lab hours!
Straightfoward, simple lectures. Speaks fast, keeps you awake, an all around amazing professor.
He means business when it comes to this class, he is passionate about what he does and you will need to work for your grade. Amazing teacher but you need to be dedicated. He is an expert in this feild so any question you have he is able to answer with no hesitation. SHOW UP TO CLASS ALWAYS
Dr. Tesch is amazing. He is extremely knowledgable in his fields and to top it of he is funny too. I had him for BI-13 and 15 and I must say you have to keep up with the labs/lectures because he won't wait for you. Love how fast his lectures started from the first day and they will only go faster as the semester ends. Best Prof. I have ever taken.
Took his class last semester out of 24 students 16 -repeats. Really! if so many people have to repeat his class he is obviously doing something wrong, and the students who repeated the class were the ones getting an A. He gets upset if you ask questions and it seems like he sets you up to fail. He was just not the teacher for me.
BI15 is dense with information. Be ready to study. Dr. Tesch has high, but reasonable standards. EVERYTHING you need to know is on the lecture outlines. Study and understand those. For lab, practice, practice, practice. He does quizzes. You can practice with your old quizzes and other people's quizzes (diff versions). Put in the time for this class
Dr. Tesch is awesome. The class is y hard simply because of the amount of information. Those who didn't do well need to find ways to study that work for them. He gives you everything you need to be successful
Be ready to work hard. He gives all the info needed to pass but you will need to put in the hours. Lots of memorization. There is a lecture quiz everyday and if you come late you are marked down by half. Great professor overall. I will be taking him for microbiology.
Awful, from my experience. He doesn't like to be interrupted with questions during class time but also doesn't like to answer questions at office hours about lecture. Be ready to spend all of your time in the tutoring center, they are very helpful there.
Very good professor. Has a very organized way of teaching. Summer was at a very fast pace so it was a bit difficult to keep up, but overall it was a pretty decent class. I would definitely take him again, he also gives out study guides for exams that help, along with reserved exams. The key it to study as much as you can.
He is ok. Just lecture he writes on the board and fast with his back turn. Can't focus that way. Not really helpful when you are stuck on something, he just turns his back on you but help certain students he likes. Don't like to ask questions in lecture, he wants the floor the whole time for himself. He gets frustrated. Talks about people to others
Good Boy c: 10 out out of 10!
Tesch is by far one of the best professors I have taken! Every point counts and he is there to help you every step of the way. SHOW UP, Take the lab quizzes seriously (they add up), go study lab hours and bug him!! He is sincerely there to help you and he cares. Beyond Micro, he will ingrain habits that will make you successful in life.
Dr. Tesch is amazing. He writes the lectures on the board & is very passionate about what he does. Its a hard class bc its science but if you study very hard you will do great! Lab exams are easy if you study, lecture exams can be really tough. If you are focused & actually study, you can pass with an A. Theres reserved exams u can look at!!
He loves what he does because he really be explaining that are understandable. He wants his students to have a success future and be something in life. Also, with lab exams he makes lab meetings in the weekend so you are able to study what you need to!!:)
Prof. Tesch is an immensely passionate, seasoned professor at COD. Loads of exams but it's better than too few. Stay on top of studying, the course is difficult but Prof. Tesch likes to see his students succeed. Lectures are thorough and expectations are clear but you need to put work in. DO the practice exams, they're exactly like the real ones.
Tesch is the best at explaining every single detail. He knows it all. He looks intimidating but once the class goes on you'll see how approachable he really is. In lab he gets to every single person. He writes his lectures on the board with you. So you both move at the same rate.
I can say Tesch is one of the best professors Ive had at COD. Its a hard class but if you attend everyday take his notes and study study study; there is no reason for you to fail his class. He is there for his students!!!
Professor Tesch is great! His courses are not usually online courses since they are science classes, however, he rolled with the punches and truly made the online microbiology experience a great one! You know exactly what you are getting with him. His lectures are clear and concise. Watch the videos and review the notes and you'll pass!
Take this science professor. You wont regret it. He truly cares about your grade. His lectures are accessible, and his note outlines are self explanatory. This professor knows what he is doing! I am very satisfied I took his class. Take advantage of his office hours/tutor sessions. Show your face! Access his test archives great study guides.
Professor Tesch was amazing. Having to have merge into online during these times was not an easy task (as the subjects are not the easiest), Professor Tesch made sure he thought us the material to the best to his ability and made the class enjoyable. He is funny and I highly recommend him!
It really doesn't get any better than Tesch! Took him for A&P I, liked the way he taught so much I knew I had to take his Micro class. I got A's in both classes. Be prepared to work your butt off(if you want a good grade of course)but it's not at the fault of Dr. Tesch, the courses are just very heavy. Doesn't assign BS work & you will learn a lot!
He may have been a good instructor once but as an online instructor, he is horrible. Hands down the most unhelpful instructor I have ever had. Impatient, no encouragement, belittling and unprofessional. His current class is currently 75% students at C or below. Can't all be the students fault. Would never take or recommend this guy at all ever
Tesch did an amazing job transitioning Microbiology online. You will watch lecture and lab videos every week. There will be quizzes due at 11:59pm on Thursdays about video material. The exams are timed but open book. The first exam was hard bc I wasn't sure what to expect. The rest of the exams were pretty easy! Make sure to study.
Bro taking him remotely online is a huge NO. The amount of assignments as well as exams every Friday with 75 questions and timed. I would NOT recommend taking him for online. He does belittle his students its actually sad. He informs us about test results and the number of Fs increase each exam. That speaks for itself. Just beware! Honest truth.
Currently taking his Bio-13 class online & am more the half way thru, it is a difficult class but he definitely gives you everything you need to succeed. Take good notes and study his reserve exams, and try office hours. Its a class that you need to put in the work so don't expect an easy A.
He may seem cocky at first but when you get to know him hes nice and down to earth professor. He has a great heart and cares about his students. All you gotta do is put in the work. Either way you need to know this info to get into the nursing or medical field. Dont listen to the bad ratings. Those are the lazy people. Great funny lectures!
I've taken all my biology classes with a different professor. Tesch is great. His organizational skills are amazing, which is so important when it comes to exams. There are no surprises. When your searching for your next bio class he should definitely be your first option.
He has taught this class for years so he really knows his stuff and loves to share his knowledge. He is extremely organized and very clear about what you need to know. He is also only human, so sometimes you should take what he says with a grain of salt; he means well. Points are awarded for attendance so show up on time or you'll hear about it
I took Dr. Tesch for the summer. He has such a great personality and makes lectures enjoyable. Because summer moves at twice the speed, we had a test every week and hw due every other week. It was difficult but doable. He stayed multiple times after class to answer questions and let us use the lab to study. He is always available, take him!
I took Professor Tesch for summer. He was always honest & forward with us about what to expect and never sugarcoated anything with us. He provided us with past exams & that really helped me when I studied. He was very organized when lecturing which was helpful for studying. It is a hard class, but if you put in the hours you can pass this class.
I took Prof. Tesch for two Semesters of A&P at American River College in Sacramento & the class was really hard but got "A" on both Semesters as this professor is so awesome, really into what he teaches & explained the course materials really good! I am glad to see so many of his students rating him well, but then again I am not really surprised!
Great Professor. Highly recommended. It is not an easy course, but if you study you'll get A.
Tesch is an amazing instructor. His expectations to succeed in the class are very clear and he will help you along the way whether it be with his numerous office hours a week or one on one guidance during labs. Show up ON TIME and STUDY!!! He is incredibly knowledgeable in not only Anatomy but anything science and life related! TAKE THIS CLASS!
First don't take this class in summer. Unless you want to suffer. Every week is a exam and the last week being hard with two. I suggest reading your book before entering this class and taking notes. Especially chapter 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 in regards to eye and taste buds. I think Dr. Tesch is excellent for explaining a very difficult subject.
HE IS THE BEST! I took Tesch this summer. It was an intense eight weeks of lectures and exams. Tesch is an amazing Professor and human being. Charismatic, knowledgeable, down-to-earth, and family oriented. His lectures are full of energy. Practice your previous years lecture exams and use office hours as Tesch is really helpful. You have to study!!
My favorite Professor! If I could take Professor Tesch for all my classes, I would! He's hilarious & understanding, a great story-teller & very helpful. Take advantage of office hours, you'll earn extra points. If you study, come to class everyday, you'll pass the class. Lecture is heavy, with lots of notes that are on the exams!
Professor Tesch achieves high averages by incorporating copied practice test questions directly onto exams. For a solid foundation, look into different professors. Lectures lack clarity and rely heavily on online resources. For passing, his class works; but for a strong nursing school foundation, research others.
I took him because so many people said he was great but honestly I think his better days are behind him. He could care less about the success of students in his class. I regret taking him, definitely take someone else if you can. Initially I relied alot on his notes but they lack substance, read the book.
Anatomy I & II will be your life if you take these classes with him. He expects a lot from you, he is pretty intense. Don't rely on notes and reserve exams. You must read the book, go to the office hours, and study a ton. If I knew what I know now I would have taken another professor.
I took Tesch because of how everyone talked well of him. Now that I have taken him I regret doing so. Anatomy I & II are intense. He is very knowledgeable, but having a professor like him makes these classes more difficult. If you do not plan on putting in the work outside of class and don't plan to go to office hours then take another professor.
Long lectures long notes back turned majority of the time speeds through lectures .After taking him I was told he would give extra credit for attending study hall as well as making it to lectures on time. Doesn't respond to emails has favorites. If you're looking for a good Professor do not take his course.
This professor almost enjoys watching the average be in the 60s in his class. Lectures are mandatory but read the book if you do take him. He will give you the name of something in his lectures and give it the other name it is known by in the exam, things like this make this class with this professor very difficult. Also doesn't reply to emails.
Please save yourself and take another professor. Almost impossible to pass and I think he enjoys it. The exam average is in the 60s. You must go to office hours or you will not pass his class. He talks about students behind their backs which is not what a Professor should do. He is not preparing you but exhausting you. You will regret taking him.
Truly one of the best Professors COD has to offer hands down, he can make any lecture interesting and you can feel the passion this man has for what he does. I was always motivated to learn and study more as this is a difficult course but I've retained so much information because of how convenient he makes the lectures for students.
Anyone writing a bad review is hater. This class requires you study everyday or it shows on your exam scores. You think you studied enough? You need to study more. Tesch gives plenty of material set you in the right direction. Be there 5 min before time.
He is aware of his knowledge of biology. In other words he could be cocky. He finds things funny that may be taken wrong. He does talk bad about students behind their back, but heck we are all human. I actually heard him talk about me. I think he can be more respectful, keep confidentiality, and keep professional. But, I know biology due to him.
First time taking his class and honestly I am glad I took his class because you learn a lot better with him than any other professor that is teaching biology. Don't get me wrong his class was hard but if you put in the hours that is required and attend office hours you will pass the class. He cares for the people that wants to learn.
Took this course during the summer and was not as much as I expected. Reading long chapters and taking notes during lecture is mandatory to pass the class and understand the material. You must be willing to put in the effort and at least study 1hr a day. Tough class like any other Bio class but still manageable with social life. Professor is funny.
Professor is very knowledgeable and is very detailed on his lectures, but he shows favoritism. I honestly felt discriminated. There is a way to lecture without Profanity. This professor needs to show professionalism and treat people with respect and treat all as equal. At the end of the day where are all students color of your skin should not matter.
Tesch is an engaging, knowledgeable professor. His lectures are packed with info, so staying focused is key. Use Unstuck ai and past exams to prep - it really helps. Tough class, but worth it if you put in the work.
He is passionate about his teaching. He is there to help you succeed. You can do very well in his classes, but you have to do your part.
I am in agreement with another reviewer below: those who leave him a bad review are just haters. Professor Tesch is dedicated to teaching and stands out as one of the best educators. He has a deep understanding of biology and genuinely wants his students to learn the information. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to have learned from him.
He talks too fast, no one asked questions because he would get an attitude if you interrupt him. Lecture feels like a race, making it difficult to grasp concepts. The book will be the only recourse you have to better understand each chapter. He doesn't make powerpoint slides, instead he makes you print lecture outlines for every single lecture.
Best professor I've had so far. All those who hate him and left a bad review, I think those just don't wanna study. He have every thing ready for you, lecture note, reserved exams, all you have to do is put an effort on it.
Does not allow you to ask questions without being sassy. Speeds through lectures, and lots of work. 5/10
Professor is Very knowledgeable, funny, and easy going. He's always available and willing to help you understand anything you're struggling with you just have to reach out. This class isn't hard just a lot of memorizing so therefore you need to study daily. Lectures are a little heavy but again not hard. He also doesn't rely on PowerPoints.
Dr.Tesch is a good professor because he is very knowledgeable and does everythinghe can to help you pass the class. He insists with attending OH but I didn't and I was still able to pass the class so I wouldn't say it's necessary. The only con about him is that he is shady and talks bad about students. Also uses lots of unnecessary profanity.
The BEST professor here. My only regret is not taking him for BIO 13, since I only took him for BIO 14. I recommend you take both courses with him. He is knowledgeable, funny, & grades quickly. I like that he doesn't rely on PowerPoints because he takes his time to actually teach us. Attend office hours, study reserve exams, & DON'T miss any class!
Highly recommend Tesch! He doesn't just read PowerPoints—he writes notes, explains clearly, and connects lectures to real life, making them easy to understand and remember. He provides great study tools that make a huge difference when studying for exams. It is a challenging class so he expects effort, but he matches it with just as much effort.
Dr. Tesch is a GREAT professor ! He genuinely wants students to succeed. This is evident through his dedication in every aspect of the course lectures, labs & OH. He provides plentiful resources, designed to set students up for a strong understanding of the material in a very well facilitated manner. Use those resources, do your part & study !!!
Don't be fooled by the comments; I also thought this professor/class was going to be how the other comments said it would be. Tesch expects you to know everything, if you don't then he doesn't bother to help. He in fact does talk behind the students back and makes his side comments. You also have less than a week to learn the material for exams.
