He is the most interesting prof. ever! I highly recommend him!!!
pretty interesting,uses variety teaching methods.He's a 20yr old in a 55yr body
He is the most interesting professor ever! Makes history very fun!
I think for some reason I got graded very hard
Travis is great, I have never been interested in history until I was in hisclass
The coolest teacher I have ever had! Everything realated to sex!
If I see one more PowerPoint presentation, I'm diving off the roof of Au Sable.
I hate histOry, but Prof. Travis kept me interested
highly recommended

Tony is a mad history wizard
COOL!!!
IT was a cool class and he could be cool. But you had to write SO much!!

print slides, use them on tests, history is fun again!
made history fun again! Takes a multimedia approach to history
Interesting lectures, a lot of sex involved but his grading system is terrible
Lot of outside work- writting, fun class, 1st day wierd played Indian war music
Not Bad
Awesome class.....easy stuff....hard grader, keeps you interested
idiot, gives grades based on how he feels about you not your work
Crazy guy, but knows what he is talking about. Wouldn't give syllabus.
Learning a lot
You had better like writing constantly and one power point after another day after day after day... relates everything to sex, is this history?
Online tests & quizzes are ridiculously easy. He knows a ton about social history. Awesome prof!!
Interesting social history approach
Gives the big picture that makes the present understandable

worst prof i ever had, pulled grades out of nowhere, predetermines student's abilities first day of class, lectures are boring as ever, never organized, if you have him GET OUT NOW!!!!
Interesting class
Tony is one of the best profs at GVSU, in History or anything else. He takes an interesting(for a change) perspective on things, and you can pick your own subject for the paper. What more could you ask for?
Interesting lectures, easy quizes- questions on exams are not covered in class, and difficult- Class average normally 65%- does however give a curve. Grades hard on papers with little feed back. Not clear on what he is expecting from his students.
This guy is blackboard crazy. Not a well structured class for a small university. Does not know his students by name. Very impersonal.
Liked the active discussion in class based on the internet and BlackBoard. Never boring
Lots of music, pictures, and cartoons in class. Helps the time go by.
Good teacher. Everything is on blackboard which was a hassle at times. Good about using ****s/****s as examples for many things. No discussions, but they are regularly mentioned.
hard grader with little feedback on essay exams, lots of pictures and music, good notes, GREAT lecturer, really knows his material, easy to understand, puts everything on black board
Great lecturer, very interesting, but thats about it. Doesn't give you feedback on written papers, and lack of communication can be a problem.
Every semester I get a crappy prof like this. Anyone who thinks he's a great lecturer must have been asleep. Terrible assingments and grading, he's very full of himself.
He is a fun teacher but has tuff grading. He is a cool guy but kinda makes the class hard with only having two exams as your grades, and a journal.
Enjoyed using music, pictures, and text to understand history. Very helpful on how to take his essay exams when visiting his office.
A night class that was three hours long. With the use of pictures and music the lectures were bearable.
This is the prof. that blew my 4.0 (senior year)! Yes, class is fun & interesting, but grading is arbitrary and inconsistent. Plus no feedback, EVER! Just a number grade with no comments or reasons.
Interseting and fun class. Got plenty of comments on my intellectual journal, midterm, and research essay. Didn't like all of them but they made sense.
This was my second time having him...he is an awesome prof. be prepared to work hard and give personal stories and thoughts of the the journal..you can definetly get an A in this class easily by putting forth effort!
No guidance, no feedback, nada. How do you improve your grade when you don't know what you're doing wrong? He seems laid back and easy-going, then WHAM! He hits you with a crappy grade and no explanation.
Great teacher. He gave back midterm and journal on two different nights at the end of the class. Must come to class, and stay for the three hours. Got my stuff written all over with comments. Helpful.
I hated history but was told Professor Travis could make me like it. I took the class and did find it fun. Learned a few things too. His first essay exam was difficult but I talked to him about it,and he gave me tips for the final which I did well on.
Pretty good course for a general education theme course. Helpful prof.
Great Class with use of the media for illustration. Caring prof.
Class was pretty easy and enjoyable - doesn't censor his lectures, which are accompanied by lots of films. Talks about Chicago a lot(for urban hist.), since he grew up there. Very friendly guy. Essay exams are tough but fair.
This class is easy to prepare for. If you plan on going to class regularly don't bother buying the book seriously. Gives you everything in class and on blackboard. Book total waste of money
Great guy and great class. Lectures are fairly interesting. Just take notes and take the midterm/final and you're done. Never had 1 assignment or test. Uncensored lectures are fun too.
He is soo awesome!! He knows so much about Latinos even though his Spanish is baad. I loved his class. You do have to work hard, but it was all so interesting. He doesn't take attendance, but lectures and shows some movies, so go to class & use BB!
This guy is SOOOO easy. You're not gonna learn a lot, but it's an easy A.
Good use of different media and directions to teach about the times of war and changes in America
Great teacher that makes class fun. Always helping us understand material and telling us why the stuff is important to learn. Helped me understand why Americans are the way that they are by learning the experiences that we went through. Very interesting.
Awesome class. Teaches history from a social perspective using various sources. One of the best classes I have taken. Utilizes blackboard.
Easy prof, easy A, BORING class! same old stuff every day...start with weird music of the period we talk about that day, powerpoint, internet stuff, done. no assignments or real exams only midterm/final
at times a little dull, but Travis is pretty laid back I really liked him. I especially liked the movie series he showed. For his Civ. Rights, you'll have to do a 150 word journal entry for each class and then just a midterm and final.
Super nice guy and easy class. One paper and 2 exams and all can be submitted via drop box. Gives all the questions for the exam beforehand, so you can be done in advance. Exams are given over a 3 day period. Awesome. :)
Very nice guy. Didn't buy the book, and did just fine in this class. Gives you everything you need on black board. Only an essay midterm, and essay final and one research paper. Submit everything online and gives the questions ahead of time!
for the online bb exams, he gives 6 to 9 Q's. He chooses two questions and you answer one of those, then you answer another question of your own choosing. Hint: have one question completely done ahead of time, then open the exam and see the two Q's ..50 minutes to write 300-500 words. Saves time
Nice Professor. He makes history interesting. Great use of media. Once questions are available on BB for the midterm and final,it is helpful to prepare ahead of time. He starts posting the questions 2 or 3 weeks before the exam. You can then paste your answers at exam time.
He is a fun professor! he is very laid back and flexible. lectures can get boring b/c he talks mostly all hour, but not all are like that. he uses movies and music a lot. his exams are all essay, which are on BB and he gives you the exact questions before hand. Excelent! I would suggest him!!
Very nice and laid back. He lectures alot but if you take good notes the class is pretty fun and managable.
Good prof, nice and funny, lots of videos and movies, he has online reading on the syllabus, but I only read the textbook and did fine. Write a paper and two take home exam things. Ok class, prof is easy if you do what he asks.
Easy class if you at least try to attend. No quizzes or homework or reading. Graded on Midterm and Final, both of which are essay, but he gives you the questions on the first day. Also must complete a short journal for each day. Not too bad. He's pretty funny sometimes too. Take him=U do good.
Travis was a great prof if you don't like history. EVERYTHING is online, so its not critical to go to class, but he is very helpful in explaining things if you do. No assignments, just essays for the mid-term and final. Plus, he's a really nice guy... I would recommend him.
Wonderful Prof! He is very passionate and knowledgeable, and does a good job of keeping you interested. Some days are more exciting than others, but overall excellent!
VERY nice, understanding, friendly, helpful, funny and clear. He makes history easy and bring up facts that are usually left out but very interesting. One-of-a-kind professor, HIGHLY recommended.
Very nice professor. He made History a little bit more interesting by telling facts that aren't normally brought up and everything is online!
Honestly this was an easy class to get by in without doing much although my grade only came out with about a C. Only work done in class is a 300 word journal summary of the week's lecture and a midterm and final done online but he gives you the questions done ahead of time. He is kind of a tough grader and this class is so boring!!!
Love all the visual material that makes class interesting
He was boring and very unclear of what he expected from the students. He was very unhelpful when asked questions.
Very good teacher all around. Good grading system and exam. Not boring, very energetic!! Hope to have again, but he will be leaving next year.
Funny guy, class is a bit boring, but he does make you laugh.. Lots of visuals, hardly any homework... Keep up with your blogs! He makes history as interesting as this stuff can be!
Without a doubt worst prof ever. Colleges think he is a joke. Uses ****ing YouTube, & movies to teach. Seriously do not take this guy. He gives GVSU a bad name. I would expect better at a CC. I am getting pissed just writing this. What a ****ing moron. He loves Gangs of New York, thinks it is historically pertinent. I paid to be taught by Scorsese?
Dont listen to the last comment, you'll be happy you took him. Very easy grader, long as you go to class and do the very light reading assgments, you can sit back and watch videos in the classroom, and collect your A. Overall I'd take him for every class if i could, funny guy, laid back, nice and has no problem giving you a good grade.
He's a funny guy. Uses visualaides a lot, tells you when quizzes will be. Makes jokes, reminds you when things are due.. and he tries to keep it as fun as possible, but its history... Exams are easy. Listen to what he says, and take notes, then you wont have to look things up for the exam. Easy laid back guy! Take him!!!!
He was a great teacher. Worksheets and textbooks are not what defines a great teacher. Either is the workload. At the end of the day; what did you learn? I learned a ton. Thank you Prof. Travis.
This guy blew my mind. Such a great lecturer. Loved the course.
Travis was the best. Creative instructor who respects his students.
