Study what he tells you to in the book and the quizzes are a breeze. The speeches are not bad at all, as scary as they seem they are truly not when you get down to it.

Professor Valentine's communications class was the best class I have taken at spc. He makes it interesting and fun. I did not want to take this class, actually dreaded the fact that I would have to do public speaking. I would highly recommend this class to anyone. Wouldn't have taken anyone else for speech! Speeches are under 4 mins, there's 2 by yourself and 2 group. All 4 are very easy. He doesn't really care what you say in your speech as long as you try and reach the time limit. He does everything he can to make you feel comfortable. I was terrified to take this class but it ended up being a great class.

Really nice guy, very patient with people. He's very clear about what he wants without spoon feeding it to you. I started out a bit rough, but by the end I was getting high A's often. As long as you try, you'll do great.

Easy A!!! Organize ur speech the way he wants it and you'll get A's. There was 3 speeches by yourself and 1 group, along with 3 quizzes. The quizzes are easy and you could bring index cards with you to use for the quiz.

Easy class. Take the 2 hour 45 minute class. 4 speeches no more than 5 minutes on average each.

Follow the outlines. He tells you exactly what he wants. Make sure you use transitions and clear thesis, intro, and conclusion. Note cards are used for quizes he gives you an outline put those terms on note cards. Easy A.

Dr. Valentine was a great professor! He really knew the material and made each class fun. He was super funny, understanding and helpful. He really wanted to help each student pass. There were only 3 major speeches, tests were online and 2 essays and he gave you plenty of time for each assignment. I definitely recommend this professor.

Great Instructor. Speech was scary to me, and I still got nervous, but he has a way to resolve most of the anxiety.To get an A, just do exactly what he wants. NO CELL PHONES. Didn't use the $40 textbook that SPC said to buy, so don't bother getting it. Extremely easy. If you fail his class then you're just lazy and didn't put forth the effort. He helps you and even lets you rehearse your speech before your final speech! Recommend taking him if you're nervous or need help.

If you're afraid of public speaking, then TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Valentine makes the atmosphere so comfortable. Take it during summer if you can. 2 quizzes, 4 speeches, and 2 easy essays. You don't need the textbook. And like someone said before, it feels like you're just talking to your friends by the 3rd-4th speech. No need to be nervous!

Literally the best speech prof at spc! Super easy going guy and he makes the class fun, especially during the 3 hr summer class. I do agree speaking is not something I like but after completing his course I became more confidant in my speaking. Take his class if you want to learn and get a good grade.

Dr. Valentine has been a help in speech class. Speech is tough on most people however Dr. Valentine makes it easy to get up in front of the class and speak. Not too much material was covered so the classes were a little loooong, but it was only a general speaking class. All students need to know is InformativePersuasive speeches.

Quizzes online are sorta tough when it's not the common sense questions; basically the only reason why you'll need your book. As long as you follow the main criteria of the certain type of speech you're doing, you'll be fine. He's nice, but something seemed a little off about him in-terms of his friendliness. Sorta felt awkward after awhile.

If you are looking for some easy writing class, dont take him. If you are actually interested in Journalism, then look no further! I loved his class! Very helpful! Very creative. Very nice. His assignments are "easy" as long as you do them and are interested in them. I found the assignment fun. Not a class to slack in. Great teacher!

Dr. Valentine tries to keep lectures interesting. He genuinely tries to speak so each student can understand what he's saying. Only 2 quizzes (easy as long as you pay attention in class). Didn't really NEED the textbook, although it was helpful at times. Easy A as long as you follow directions. He is flexible with grades as long as you put effort!

Perhaps the most helpful and awesome teacher I've had in a long time. Extremely helpful and helps you on an individual scale. If you're anxious about speaking don't, he makes a comfortable and relaxed speaking environment. Grading is fairly lenient as long as you do you have to do. He's pretty darn funny too at times. TAKE HIM!!!!

Absolutely the best public speaking teacher at SPC!! His classes are very fun and he creates a laid-back atmosphere for you to feel comfortable in. The whole class is almost like a big family! The speeches you give are easy and he tells you exactly how to outline them. My favorite class by far.

His assignments have very clear rubrics. He is not a harsh grader. There are only two quizzes and the final is for extra credit. He cracks some jokes and makes himself an easy professor to talk to if you have any questions. The speeches that he assigns are easy to complete and you're allowed to use index cards and PowerPoints to help you.

A great teacher, a bit boring some days but just stick with it. Assigns no outside work besides the speech assignments that are so easy to relate to & 3 quizes. Lets you use notecards and power points to present a speech. Not a tough grader and is so laid back creates a calmness in the class. Is funny at times, easy to pass class just do the work.

I took this class online. He responds back and grades everything in a timely matter. His work was not difficult and his quizzes were based on what we learned. I did you use the textbook and it was helpful to help me pass the class. I am so glad I took his class and if I can take his class again I would.

I had this class online. It was an express class so every week there was a lot of homework. You need the textbook. Overall it was a pretty easy A.

I LOVEE HIM !!! i would suggest everyone take him. You only have a few speeches and there is no pressure because he makes you practice. The longest speech is around 2-3 minutes and all the subjects are easy! I hate speaking infront of people but love it and so easy

Valentine's a really good professor. Intro to speech has been really easy. Just show up and complete what you're supposed to be. I'm not a fan of giving speeches, especially for a grade, but in his class it's not that bad. It's an easy class.

Professor Valentine is awesome! He's funny and keep the class interesting enough. As far as speeches go, only one actual speech where you have to speak alone, the other ones are group projects. If you're uncomfortable speaking up front ( I was before this class), he's the best professor to help you feel more comfortable!

He makes standing up in front of the class fun. I was very nervous to take this class because I hate public speaking. However, there is a lot of group work, which takes off some pressure, and he makes everyone feel equal and welcomed.

I loved Professor Valentine! He is very laid back but fun. He makes sure you know what you need to do, and if you follow it, than it is a very easy course. The lectures can get a little boring sometimes because he talks slower. But other than that, he is a great, easy professor. I would defiantly recommend him!

I had Dr. Valentine for an online Intro to Speech Comm. class. There was a ton of coursework to get through in a short amount of time. Professor assigned three video speeches during this time, and only allowed students to use the student portal's video recorder which was a pain. Other than that, Dr. Valentine was a solid professor and I passed.

This professor and I seemed to butt heads for some reason, but overall he is a great professor he knows what he is talking about. If you are scared to talk in front of people he will help you get over that fear. Make sure you show up for each group project because they are your main grades. You have one speech that you speak alone (not hard).

I took Intro to Speech online. Summer 8 week course. There were 3 speeches: Intro speech about yourself (3 min), a speech on a place you have visited outside of Tampa Bay (3-4 min), and a speech persuading someone to go see a movie (1-2 minutes). All speeches are done though a webcam without an audience. There are also quizzes and discussions.

Easy class and nice professor! If you're scared of public speaking this is the class to take. You have three speeches, one the first week and two the last two weeks of class. You just record the speech on your webcam and post it to the discussion. The teacher grades easy if you follow everything that he says. He gives great feedback. Easy A.

He can sometimes go on tangents but overall it is a fun class. You WILL have to speak in front of every one at least three times so be prepared. This was an insane easy class. If you are afraid of speaking in front of people, this is the class to take. Definitely don't need to read as much as it says and the quizzes are not timed and straight out of the book. Take this 8 week online course and you will not regret it.

Great professor, crazy easy assignments. I took him online, and had 3 speeches. All are posted to the discussion post, and you dont have to worry about gathering an audience you just stand and film yourself giving your speech. Tests and other discussion posts are easy. Definitely take him if you have a fear of public speaking.

HILARIOUS,understanding, and a simple guy! His class is very simple and he goes over stuff continuously. We had three speeches total that were about two minutes but very simple topics. Diced the speeches into three days so we perform in a smaller group (which I loved!) very laid back! Do your assisntments and youll be just fine!

This guy was hilarious. What really made this class fun was our group. I now some people don't like group projects, but I had such a great group. Dr. Valentine takes the time to provide useful feedback. The modules clearly list what assignments are due and when they are due. Dr. Valentine even worked with me when I had an older version of the textbook. He's also good about responding to your emails. I highly recommend Dr. Valentine for speech.

No homework other than one small essay & preparing for speeches. Super easy speeches too. One was with a partner. Also, you can skip the days you dont present.

Then, at the end of the course, I asked if there was something I could do to get my grade to a 90% and he said, "Do you want me to put you above the class?"

Great professor, encouraging, and funny. I have anxiety, but taking his class helped me deal with it a lot better. He cared for and worked with everyone, and I had lots of fun taking his class although speaking is hard for me! Has group projects, but they are fun. I'm glad he had them although I was nervous at first.

Professor Valentine is great! I loved taking his class. He gives helpful feedback and is understanding about the difficulties you face with public speaking. There was one big speech (3-4min) and one small speech (1-2min). Both of which are self recorded and posted as a discussion. The rest of the work consists of reading, writing, & a few quizzes.

you show up and pass. each class he lectures and it's great, necessary information, then you discuss it with classmates for participation. there's no tests; I only had to do one Power Point. He's really kind and easy going.

My experience with this class was 'meh.' He doesn't really say much and feedback was pretty sparse. However, we had barely any speeches to do and they were all very nice topics and super easy to do. Sometimes his instructions for assignments are a little unclear. Overall an okay professor, but a good class.

Absolutely no makeups so make sure you stay on top of your assignments. There are not too many, most of them were fun topics. Took this class fully online due to public speaking anxiety. Presentations are recorded and submitted. He is very responsive and give back good feedback. There is an extra credit essay during module 8 I believe as well.

This class is so easy with this professor. I kinda feel bad for him cuz the class was always pretty silent at his humor, but I thought he was great. Only thing to do in this class is some simple group and individual presentations/speeches and he was always super understanding and graded very leniently. Valentine was a great professor, at first he sounds funny, but at some point he can look/sound creepy.if ur a girl making up a presentation after class he will invite other teachers. takes a hands on approach with lots if group projects and improv which was the most fun part of the semester. The work is easy. Attendance is graded as participation.

One of the most interesting people I've ever met, Dr. Valentine is a very unique person. It's hard to describe him but I think most of the people in my class could agree that he was awesome. The only thing I would say is that he was VERY strict about phones.
