He is difficult to understand and blames you for not understanding him (his accent). His class is confusing for a intro economics class. The practice test for tests help but only if you get the awnsers from the book not class notes. Very imtimidating!!!!

Covers only 20% of test material in class. Mostly I had to study from the book. His lectures go off on unrelated tangents. Avoid this instructor.
Hes really confussing. He makes everything seem harder that it really is. But I hear he's the easiest economics teacher at tcc so if you have to take him just do your work and you should get by.
These people don't know what they're talking about... Dr. Viegbesie was extremely helpful and makes learning economics fun!
Dr. Viegbesie is a great teacher and easy. Sometimes he likes to repeat himself. Still, the best ECO teacher at TCC. Not always clear when answering questions, but the tests are easy and good notes make finding study-guide answers very simple.
He expects you to be on time. he does not tolerate cell phones.He wants to prepare his students for the real world. his test's aren't difficult as long as you take the time to prepare for them. he likes to ask the class questions about the material we covered in class the next class session.
Very good teacher, he should be the Dean. He is very concern about his students. He goes way beyond the call of duty to help his students to succeed in his class. BEST TEACHER AT TCC!
He as an accent which makes it kind of difficult to understand. Very stern and serious man. His lectures really don't help so don't even bother taking notes. His study guides are similar to his exams but you really have to search for the answers in the book. Makes friends in class!!

Taking notes in class was completely pointless...they didn't help with the tests. If your good at looking up things in the book and guessing the right answer this is the class for you. Worst class ever.

He was a **** ****! He made you want to cry when you asked a question. He was mean, rude, inconsiderate, and unfair! I would not recommend him for any reason whatsoever. Do not take Dr. Viegbesie! I have almost gone to the Dean several times, but TCC is not going to do anything about it anyways
what a great man, he is informative and interesting. i would love to take another class. although his tests don't really relate to the notes, you learn by writing in his class.....i thought he was wonderful
He doesn't listen to questions asked and insults instead of answers. He is an entertaining speaker but is not clear on subject matter. He does not work well with students. He also has a tendency to preach his own social views and opinions, which in one case, was offensive.
I know everyone is ranting about his style, but he is upfront and honest and I can appreciate that rather than getting someone who smiles in your face and then you still end up failing the class. I think I will take him again.
I took two of his classes. I studied my butt off the first time and got a C. I didn't study the second time and got a C. He lectures but questions on the test weren't in his lectures. All in all I think you have to be lucky to pass.
It would be wise to NOT take any of his classes. He is strict and unapproachable. He lectures non stop about hell who knows what in his thick accent. If you're already signed up don't even go to class, it won't make a difference. Just read the book, you'll understand so much more. Tests are easy if you have the patience to listen to him.
This man was a nightmare,his lectures were dry and dull,he was mean and completely disrespectful of his students,asigns a summary paper over an article which will be the most boring thing you ever read.Im not one to skip class usually,I hated his so much I only went to about 60% of the classes.Got a B still, hes not hard just bad.
Hard teacher. I find economics hard anyway, but he believes in earning the grade even if it's the C I made. Those who do well in his class are those who have an understanding of economics. I hate that subject. If you like firm teaching he's your man.

DR. VIEGBESIE IS A PROFESSOR THAT NO ONE SHOULD TAKE ANY CLASS WITH. I KNOW MOST PEOPLE TAKE HIS CLASSES BECAUSE HE GIVES OUT STUDY GUIDES THAT HAVE THE TEST QUESTIONS ON THEM, BUT I WARN YOU NOT TO TAKE HIS CLASSES. HE DEGRADES YOU WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION AND THE TEST MATERIAL SEEMS TO COME FROM SOMEWHERE BESIDES LECTURE OR THE BOOK.
Very boring lectures, does not cover everything on the tests. Gives you a packet of 100 ?s of which he picks out 50 for the tests. Gives you the correct letter for the answer but doesn't tell you what questions you missed on the test, so it makes it that much harder to try and find out what you need to concentrate on studying for the final.
He is very straight to the point. If you goto class and pay attention. You will be fine. He gives study guides that have the questions verbatim on the test from the study guide. All these other people just expect a grade for doing nothing. If I could go back, I'd still take his class.
I do not understand everyone else on here...Dr V's class was highly informative and I learned a lot. It is not hard to get a good grade as long as you go to class and also study. He gives you everything you need to make an A. Sure he shares life stories but they in no way take too much time away from class. I am taking his micro class next semester
I studied hard for the first two tests, and got a 72% and a 65%. His study guides are useless, and he gives you LOTS of trick questions. I dropped the guy too late and can't gey a refund. V! sucks.
His study guides are not helpful at all I read and made sure that i studied the study guides and the book the trick questions on the test will throw you off. Don't ever ask a question in class he will embarrass you. Dr. V loves to go on and on about nothing TAKE HIS CLASS AT YOUR OWN RISK
You pretty much cannot ask this guy a question without him talking down to you like you are an idiot. Waiting so long to give the first test and then pulled 3 test back to back. Claims to be orgainized but the truth is he wastes to much time then speeds through the rest of the class.
The entire first day I spent trying to get used to his thick accen.t Once you get pass that, you realize that theres no need, as he really doesn't say anything interesting. He's amazingly rude, and makes you feel dumb for not understanding things. His tests are really hard, no matter how hard you study for them. Don't take this guy.
Beware of Dr. v. He is of no help when it comes to answering any questions that relate to the subject matter at hand. He makes you feel like he is a genuis but you are the idiot. This class is for self-learners only. Good Luck.
hes not nice at all. BUT, he gives you study guises that are word for word questions and awnsers that are going to be on the test. They are all identical questions. dont ever have to go to class. so if you get together with people and fill out the study guide correctly, you can get a 100% on the test! it is not hard to do that!good luck w/him!
I have never made below a 88 in any class since high school and I made a 'D' in this class. Why he is a teacher I do not know he is rude and hates his job

I could not understand most of what he said and when you would ask him to explain something he would yell that he just went over it and that you should understand and so on in his **** accent. This guy is a huge jerk... no wonder he didnt get elected!!
Spent the first 2 days of class talking about himself. Thick accent makes it difficult to understand him. I dropped after seeing how ridiculously hard the first test was, and how useless his study sheets were, even if you complete and study the whole thing. Do not suggest taking this loser.
Probably the meanest teacher I've ever had. Yells if you ask a question. Calls students ignorant. Lectures about nothing pretty much. But he gives you a study guide with 100 questions & then picks 50 questions from that for the test. Word for Word. Attendance isn't Mandatory. But he's a jerk.
Often yells at students for asking questions so you better understand everything he says! his explainations are round-about and logic is circular so its difficult to see where he is going. this is a good review course for those who have taken Macro before but if this is your first try, take someone else!
He frequently yells at students. Not educated or eloquent or good with communication in the slightest. Spent vast majority of term projecting frustration caused by absentees, but would only yell at those that attended- despite anger stemming from attendace, he still never took or enforced attendance. He kind of reminds me of Echo from Lost.

I knew going in that this would be a challenging class, but I never expected it to be horrible. Worst experience ever at TCC. Teacher is mean, rude, unhelpful and unpleasant. If you have to take his class, do it in the afternoon so he doesn't ruin your entire day. Absolutely no communication skills whatsoever. Yells alot.
Easy class if you do the study guides that he passes out for the test.. 100 questions multiple choice and true false, 50 are on the test. Just look up the answers in the book and study them. Easy B if you do this and you dont even have to go to class, you can get hte study guide at his office, just find out when he passes it out. show up for test.

Easy class, just make sure you understand the concepts and do the study guides. He doesn't care if you make a A or F, he wants you to learn the material. He doesn't give grades or extra credit. He never misses class. Some other question on the study guides come off his lectures so you may want to be in class. He knows his info never looks at book

His teaching style's NON-EXISTENT & attendance is not mandatory. There're no surprises with him, he gives out study guides before a test & lifts 50 test Q's from them. Test Qs can be tricky,however, ALL the answers are in the text book. If you're interested in learning the material, go with another professor.If you just want to make an A, take him.
He designs his tests with misleading and 'trick' questions. Gives you a study guide, which doesn't really help since you don't ever really find the answers (he doesn't review) & when going over tests he doesn't repeat the questions, either you get it or don't, if you don't your screwed. You will need the text book; all the answers to study guide questions are in there, good luck finding them. I made an A in this class out of sheer determination & will. You can too.
After 16 different professors, this one is by far the worst.Study guide is useless, and will often take hours of going over to find all the answers to. Test questions are broad and answers are misleading. Study guides were obviously designed for a different text book. Answers sometimes appear in past or future chapters. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU CAN AVOID

Dropped this guy 3 classes into the semester. He spent the first two days of class talking about himself, where he was from, and all the hardships he had overcome in his life. When he finally got around to teaching, it became evident the class would be horrible. Yells alot, easily angered, and has NO sense of humor.
He knows what hes talking about. But does not know how to teach it! This is my third economics class and all through the lectures I already knew what we was talking about. I just received the study guide and its NOTHING like what he lectured in class. Totally useless.
Rediculously thick accent makes it hard to understand him. Gets angry if you ask him to repeat himself, and yells at you as if you are an idiot for not understanding him. Subject matter is boring beyond all belief, and he does nothing to try and make it more interesting. Study guides take forever to complete dont match up to the book and dont help.
I really learned alot from the class. The guy knows his stuff. Made nothing less than a 90's on the tests. The study guide was helpful.If you are willing to workhard and study passing the class will be easy.
I took him online thinking I could escape the bad stuff...bad idea. He changes dates when things are due constantly, does not give adequate amount of time to complete assignments. Do not take this in the classroom, online, anywhere.
He is a great professor. He may seem really tough at first but later into the semester he is not so bad. Make sure that you go to class and study notes. He gives you a study guide and the test is just off of the study guide so if you know the answers on the study guide you know the answers to the test. It is just that easy.

Lectures come from the book but are an overview of what he wants you to know. Study guide is straight frwrd.Contains ??s that will be on the test. Come to class everyday, you?ll have the answers. Took this class online, the Dr. V is very rude with nonchalant attitude. He does not tell you what answers are incorrect. His method is to tell you that you made a 8 out of 10. So, therefore you never know what two you got wrong. Would not recommend anyone take him for eco.
Took this class online. One of the hardest classes I've taken by far. Teacher does not help you what so ever. Study guide is the same as the test but you never know which answers are right and which are wrong. I know the purpose of an online class and it's not to teach yourself everything out of the book. Will never take again
I've taken many classes online and this was probably the most difficult. First of all the material is hard to begin with and you are definitely expected to teach yourself all of it. You never find out what questions you get wrong on the quizzes and don't even get me started on how frustrating the test study guides are. Only the 2nd B I've ever got.
I took him online and has a weekly quiz, have to religiously look through the book for obscure passages (sometimes in the pictures) to pass. Study guide is exactly what the test is like except the study guide has no answers, feedback nonexistant
He is a horrible teacher!!! All of the other posts are completely true. He does not help any student and acts as though he doesn't care if they are having touble with the material. No answers or ability to show what questions you got wrong. I failed, so I get to retake this class. Thanks Mr. V!
If you want an instructor who will hold your hand throughout this class is not for you. Expect to be your own teacher and spend a lot of time studying. If you have any problems or emergencies you're out of luck, he is pretty much impossible to get a hold of. If you are fairly smart you'll probably pass but it will be with no help from Dr. V at all.
Dr. V is the worst professor I've had thus far, he gives no feed back on test, no answer key on study guides and the hw assignments are quizzes in which you never see what you got right or wrong (which makes it difficult to improve) He is not very tenative with his online class and at times it can take up to 2 days for a response that isn't helpful

This guy is an awful teacher. His lectures are extremely boring and he is not helpful at all. If you ask him a question he just looks at you and gives you some long speech with random economic terms that down't really answer the questions. Doesn't care if you pass or fail. I showed up every day to class, studied, and got a D.

He is not the most pleasant professor. Kinda close minded and CONSTANTLY tells you "economics is common sense and politics is nonsense". He also tends to yell a lot (his natural voice) and won't accept your questions/answers in class, so it's best to just listen and not talk at all. Yet his tests are straight up questions from his study guides.
Honestly when I first saw him I was like ,I'm not going to pass the class, but after going to classes, I realized I might have a chance. There are 2 test and the third one is an exam and he gives you study guides a week before, basically the test. Also he has homework, if you go to class, he basically does the homework for you.
Awful teacher. He spends most of his lectures wasting time and avoiding what he needs to actually be teaching. Homework and tests are only doable if you want to teach the entire class to yourself. All around this class is not a good time.
As a teacher, he's horrible. As a class, easiest class I've taken. He gives you a study guide and pulls questions off of that study guide to make his test. Basically if you memorize the answers and just look at the study guide you'll get an A. The homework assignments have all the answers online as well.
Only 2 tests and the final. There are 5 homework's worth 10 points each. If you bomb the tests there's really no chance in passing. You don't need to attend class because his lectures relate nothing to the tests only the homework's. You can find most of the study guides online with the answers because he doesn't give you them. I wouldn't recommend
This guy may be the worst teacher there ever was. If you read this please do yourself a favor and do not take his class. If you have to take an economics class, wait til next semester to take it. He doesn't teach you anything about economics and grades like he has knowledge of a fifth grader. TCC needs to do something and fire this guy asap.
Absolute worst professor. If you're in trouble with just life in general, because life happens, HE WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL. I had to have emergency testicular surgery two days before a test and was flown out of town and he refused to give me any extra time at all. Needless to say I didn't do so hot. Ended up with a D because of it. No remorse.

I tutor for ECO2023, I have a masters degree in Buisness Management and have taken multiple levels of economics courses. I did not find Dr. Viegbesie lecture material, and particularly his homework assignments to be very helpful. His exam study guides are like a treasure hunt, especially if you do not have excellent notes. Would not recommend. Rude

Probably the worst professor I've ever had. Gives study guides before tests that he doesn't even cover in class. I've never missed a class and take good notes. Doesn't explain topics well and says he "doesn't give grades, he gives knowledge". Avoid this professor at all costs.
I wish I had read these reviews before taking this class. He covers the main points but not anything in between so you need to read to keep up. Be prepared to be bullied when you ask a question.. assuming he even lets you finish your question before interrupting you. Talks about being an adult but treats you like children. Rudest teacher Ive had.
Dr. V is a good teacher and he teaches students to understand the material rather than teach to the test. However, he makes students scared to ask questions because he will pretty much make fun of you if you answer the question wrong. He does give you a study packet with the questions that will be on the test.
So many students put this man down, but he's actually extremely smart and knows what he's talking about. He gives good examples you can relate to. He gives you a packet for the test, that is the exact same questions found on the test. I would personally take him again, but others would disagree. As long as you do the work you'll be fine.

Out of the 20 professors I've had in my college career, he is definitely top 3 worst. He's very unorganized, does not post grades or provide clarity on homework assignments and test. His daily in class rants barely pertain to the material and if you attempt to question him, he'll make you wish you never did. I definitely discourage taking him.
Honestly its not hard if you actually are wanting to learn economics. The man is very knowledgeable and teaches in a way that will make you retain the information even if you don't want to. Read the book you will do fine. Questions on study guide are identical to the tests. Three total tests and five, ten question, multiple choice homework's.

I definitely would not retake this class, but the overall class was not as difficult as people describe.. He does not seem to care about his students, no matter how many times he says, "I want my students to succeed". He does, however, give great study guides of which the answers can be found on quizlet (he won't give you the answers).

I'm a good student that actually cares about my grades. You need to work for your grade. He says he cares about his students, but he actually doesn't. His study guides ARE the test questions, but he won't give you any of the answers. You need to look all of them up. He will only clear up concepts. He is a tough grader. Don't recommend taking him.

Absolutely terrible, very unclear with how he wants things, spend hours on HW that has 8 questions and get a 70. He always goes off about stuff that doesn't even matter. His test covers a lot of stuff he doesn't even talk about. Doesn't like to answer questions, gets mad when he does. Thick accent hard to understand. He's just a terrible teacher.
He is smart and definitely understands economics. And when he is actually discussing economics in class you WILL learn something. Fortunately, he generally just rants about students not attending class and how he cares about our future and how he is oh so smart and has nice cars. No phones or laptops. Must attend to get random homework. Don't like.

I have read multiple economic books before this class, namely Freakonomics, Economic Parables, An Economic summary etc. I liked economics. Emphasis on the past tense. He is a tenure professor so it does not matter he will never get fired. Avoid this class.

This guy is very mean and overall a terrible experience. I do not know why TCC has him as a teacher because he does not do his job at all and for the most part they hire amazing professors. A quarter through the semester he quits out on you & says I will email you notes(which are terribly written and dont make sense)& says dont bother coming to class just come if you are confused about something. When you go because you are confused he just yells at you and doesnt help you better understand the material.
Preaches he would rather everyone get a C & learn something than a class full of As & Bs Im convinced he does it on purpose. Doest respond to emails. He does not use canvas, you have to randomly be in class to receive homework or hear test announcements and if you miss that day for hw good luck because its due next class & he will not give it
There have been times where I know I have gotten every answer correct(because the questions on the study guides are the same on the test and they're not hard to memorize) and still have gotten a C on the test
This JOB should be given to someone who will actually encourage their student and teach them. I have spent countless hours on a homework assignment just to get an F and I am a very good student. He refuses to tell you how you answered something wrong especially when its a free response. Also I do not trust that he grades his tests correct.
He is very rude and unhelpful and throws it in your face that he is tenure professor. The syllabus is very confusing as well and is hard to understand because the whole thing contradicts himself. I don't know why he is a teacher because he seems to not care about his students or the class as a whole.

No way to do good on assignments cause of how tough of a grader he is & homework or tests don't even resemble the material at all learnedin class WILL NOT help with any questions which is not at all how a teacher should act
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER. Please do not take this class if you want to learn or maintain a good GPA. Class consists of you sitting there while you get yelled at because no one showed up and brags about how much money he makes, how smart he is, how many cars & how much better and successful he is compared to the rest of the world & you.
DR. Viegbessie is a joke of an instructor with limited knowledge available on the actual topics. He violates school policy/procedure and leads with arrogance.
I could not stand this man or his class. He spends more time preaching at you than teaching. He gives you the test questions in advance but they're all trick questions. Two other people and I were some of the only kids coming to class and we barely scraped A's. And then to top all that off, he put a B on my transcript! Do not take him.
He's a terrible teacher but his assignments and test are easy. He would get on zoom once a week for 15 min to see if students had any questions. The exams are easy because he gives you 100 questions as a review and half of them will be on the test. asked him to bump by 79 to an 80 and he refused bc it wasn't on his syllabus.
He is the worst teacher ever!! He does not teach, he expects you to read HIS lecture notes (the notes he would be using if he were doing a lecture), to understand whats being taught. Class sessions are ONLY for answering questions and nothing else. If knowone has questions, he ends the class. By mid simester, literaly knowone showed up to class.
Ok kind of mixed emotions with this professor. he doesn't take attendance for zoom so I don't go to it, he does nothing in zoom, everything can be found on quizlet.
(live via Zoom): Your real professor for this class will be Quizlet. (btw, the 3 tests are 75% of your grade. Also, even tho this prof. does not teach or answer questions, tests are Honorlock and he WILL report you for cheating. Hence my D.) Just 5 hw assignments (20 Q's each, and 5 attempts each) Thankfully he does not take attendance. (HE RUDE!)
I'm going to be honest with you, the class isn't really set up in a way where you truly learn the material. I find myself memorizing terms and answers for the tests. However, if you do the work and make a solid effort to do well on the tests, you will at least have a passing grade. And all that aside, Dr. V gives great lectures.
