had allahar a few years ago for two courses in my 4th year and i liked him back then too, but looking back now, he was one of maybe 3 profs i had the entire 4 years that i learned anything from.

You are either going to love or hate this guy. He is very bright, but also quite close minded. He also plays favourites. If you think like a Marxist, you're in, otherwise ... WATCH OUT!

Wow, I thought everyone liked him! He is truly passionate about his job, and it shows in the way he teaches. Great! You must take a course with him!

Without a doubt the best prof I've had a western. This class should be mandatory for all. Incredible learning experience.

This professor changes your life. He lives by example; setting a standard that is high, but trains his students to be able to attain it. He defines what an "ideal prof" is in every way. He doesn't hide his personal views, yet, he maintains a positive learning atmosphere by having an open-mind.

Allahar doesn't teach, he IS a teacher. He is the only professor I’ve ever known to learn the names of his entire class. At 1st he may seem opinionated, but is soon becomes obvious that he’s ideas are well researched and thought out. This class can be a lot of work, but it is life-changing.

Prof Allahar is a champion motivator. He really encourages a person to keep his chin up... He's so impressive. Everyone should take this class.

It should be a requirement to take his course before you leave Western. He is, by far, the most amazing professor I have had. He in so inspiring, and makes you want to make a difference. This man is incredible.

He was often very forceful in his socialist teachings. I found him too cocky, very difficult to take, and his historical/political facts were bad. Granted, he was interesting and many of the students enjoyed his lively and animated lectures.

The most inspiring and thought-provoking professors a student could ever had. It was exciting to walk into every class.

Allhar is hands down the best and most inspirational prof I've had at Western. His classes are NOT easy, but the challenge is worth it for his humour, intelligence, and stories.

This class will stimulate your mind on so many levels. Allahar's lecturing style is admirable. He is so enthusiastic. You have to attend class to do well. But its worth it because he is hot as hell! Love him!

Very good prof. One of the best at UWO. Letures are very clear and weel organized. There are no powerpoint or overheads on this class so be prepare to take notes. Exams are not easy nor hard. The most important thing about this class is that gets you thinking.. no price for that

The best professor I've had in my 8 years of post secondary education. Inspiring, captivating, knowledgable, respectful, enthusiastic, and full of experience and wisdom to share. He'll keep your intriqued on the multitude of subjects he teaches. No matter how dry you may think the course may be going into it, you'll walk out thinking.

I admire anyone who has the courage to change their life direction. Most priests remain priests, remain sad, lost and unfulfilled, too scared to stand up and say that they want to join the human race and feel the happiness that comes with chasing their dream.

There is a reason why Prof Allahar has won so many teaching awards. He is a serious Prof that will teach you a lot, and he makes it a lot of fun along the way. Really challenges the way you think and gets you thinking about stuff you've never really thought about. He is the best professor I've ever had, not only at Western (I'm in grad school).

Amazing prof! Probably my favourite. His minority groups class has definitely been my favourite class in university so far. It was eye-opening. I don't think anyone came out of the course being exactly the same as when they went in.

Allahar is an extraordinary professor. His lectures are captivating and an absolute pleasure to attend. Unfortunately this is quite a difficult course--class averages are often around 65%. Accordingly, I wouldn't recommend taking it as an elective if you are worried about your average. Exams specifically test the readings- don't just rely on notes.

He was a guest lecturer.

Intriguing lectures. Best professor I've met in my life. Sadly he was only a guess lecturer at my school. Its amazing how he takes the time to learn everyone's name; I've had lecturers for over two years who hardly knows 1/4 of the students. His teaching style is also highly effective

Hands down, one of the best professors at UWO. Soc 2143 was optional for me and I learned so much. Class is very interesting, lectures are very well-organized and Prof. Allahar is an excellent speaker. Definitely not a bird course. you must go to class and do the assigned readings. but overall, great course.

Similar to what the previous two students said, professor Allahar is the BEST teacher I have ever had. He taught me to open my mind and not take things at face value. It is not a bird course whatsoever, but you can end up with a mark in the 70s or 80s if you tried hard. You will surely learn a lot about yourself and the world. Take this course!

BEST PROFESSOR @ WESTERN!!!!! Probably the most intelligent person you will meet @ this ultra-conservative insitution. The man speaks the TRUTH and his influence will be felt in the hearts and minds of his students!!

Allahar is the most inspirational, wonderful man I have ever met. I'm so grateful to have taken his class. I've learned more from him than I have from all of my other profs at Western combined. He has completely changed the way I view the world. Would recommend for sure. Sadly he's retiring soon though :( take his class if you get the chance!

Hands down my favourite prof so far. He has so much to teach and is fascinating to listen to, but he also challenges your thinking and forces you to overcome previous ways of thinking. The course is challenging but in a way that will leave you a completely changed person when you've completed it. I wish I could have him every year.

Professor Allahar is an incredible professor. His redings and lectures are consistently fascinating and entertaining. He is so passionate and invested in getting through to his students...he really cares, and this is very refreshing! I absolutely recommend taking one of his classes, it will open your mind up to a world of new knowledge!

Professor Anton Allahar is the nicest professor at the University. He was super helpful all year. He has extremely interesting lectures and interesting examples. I would recommend taking his class if you ever get the chance, you wont regret it!!

Most intelligent, engaging, and decidedly challenging professor I had in my 5 years at UWO. Do not take his course lightly. You'll have your eyes opened and likely struggle to maintain an A or B. But the ideas he presents will stick with you for a lifetime - I'm an alumni and came here today because I've already quoted him twice this week!

It was a true pleasure to have had the opportunity to learn from Allahar. He is an insightful man, a true wealth of knowledge. His passion for his work shines through both in his lectures and his text. He cares about the people that walk through his door too, and acts as a friend and mentor to students. I've been lucky enough to have professor Allahar twice in my university career and I can say that he has changed my life with his passion for his work and his willingness to connect with students. It has been a pleasure to attend his classes.

I took Prof Allahar's 1st yr soc course in my graduating year from the faculty of science. I highly recommend this course to people in all faculties. It was one of the most influential undergrad courses I have taken. Allahar teaches in a way that allows students to become more informed citizens and learn to analyze social events for themselves.

Professor Allahar was truly the best professor I had throughout university. I wish I had taken more classes with him, as the one course I did take of his was eye-opening and helped me to better understand how the world works. His class is not easy, but he is so engaging that it is not hard to understand the material.

This is only my 1st year at UWO, and I'm positive that Anton Allahar is the best prof at here. He's extremely intelligent, passionate and very engaging. His lectures force and inspire you to think outside the normal constructs of society. This is not an easy course, but it's the best one. Plus, he knows if you tweet about him LOL! LOVE YOU ALLAHAR!

Such a great prof... I recommend everyone to take 1026 (controversies in sociology) no matter what faculty you are in.

Do not shy away from one of his courses because of the workload-you will regret it; trust me. Does he expect a lot from his students? Yes. Does he make you work for your grade? Yes. But, is it worth it? Absolutely-no ifs, ands or buts. This man is the most influential, inspirational and enlightening professor you will ever come across at Western.

Dr. Allahar is possibly the most intelligent and the most passionate man I have ever met. His lectures are interesting and engaging, and encourages feedback throughout the lectures. He causes you to think critically. Dr. Allahar is also great with students - go to office hours and he goes above and beyond to help students!

Such intriguing lectures, kept me engaged the entire time. Highly recommended if you actually take class seriously and want to be exposed to real life issues

Taking this class has made me a much more aware person and better conversationalist. I even aced an interview with the subject material! Don't expect your mark to be too high, but as a usually 90+ student the low 80 I got was worth the learning and insight recieved. Allahar was a wonderful prof and this course will change your perspectives!

Allahar is amazing, he doesn't use lecture slides which is surprisingly refreshing. He is incredibly accomplished and you can tell how passionate he is about what he teaches. Don't be discouraged by his method of teaching, he makes you work for it but it was the most rewarding class. 10/10 would recommend and will take another one of his courses!

Professor Allahar's class was absolutely remarkable. It was without a doubt the most memorable university course I have ever had the pleasure to participate in. His passion for his subject became immediately clear within moments of the first lecture. He is not only a remarkable lecturer, but a kind soul, who's scholarly abilities are aspirational.

Incredible professor, and really smart guy. Overall I would definitely recommend the course, and would suggest reading all of the literature before the exam and final essay.

He doesn't teach anymore, but I'm writing here in hopes one day he might see it. I took Allahar's class 7 years ago, and I have to say, it has had a lasting impact on my life. His teaching and mentorship is the best I had at Western. He is the epitome of academic rigor & genius. Thanks for setting me on the right path of liberal education!
