I really enjoyed his class. I took both CCH245 and 260 and I learned a lot in both. The 245 is interesting and made me think of things from a different perspective. The 260 class was helpful becasue I learned things that I use in real life.

I would highly recommend this professor. Too bad I think he doesnt work at CSUN anymore. Well, he was great, easy to understand, had easy essay tests, and an easy grader!

Easy as all get out. No finals, presentations, papers, or even book. 10 credit/no credit responses (weekly) to the topic of the week...do em all, you have yourself an A. Couldn't take an easier GE.

KICK BACK! easy going easy "take home" final prob no midterm easy grading!!!!

if you don't like his class...then there is probably something wrong with you...that or you are stupid. his class is very interesting and helpful because when you get stopped by the cops...he informs you how to approach the situation and he highlights the importance of our rights. Go there to learn not to critique. He makes the constitution fun.

Yooo, this class is the****. All you have to do is make sure all your homework is done and be in class. Gallo is probably the most kick back teacher in the world. We talk about life and other aspects other than school work. Trust me, everybody in the world will receive an A or a B in his class. He never really gives belows C in his class.

Best Professor!!He is so laid back, but believe me you do learn. Just do everything you are required to do in class and study for misterm, and you will get an A or B. Hardly fails people, and is willing to help. Not a boring class and encourages discussions in class. Highly Recommended

He is a really cool, teacher, but too much reading. Not easy but not difficult class. Do your briefs and and you'll do well in the exam, he will make you stand up and speak about the briefs.

One page paper per week (10) and the midterm is short answers. Final is take home. Lectures get pretty redundent.... Easy and you learn to think outside the box!

Okay, at first this Prof. seems intimidating, hard. However you soon find out that he is a very down too earth kind of guy who loves to give relationship advice!! Don't be fooled, in order to pass his tests you must pay attention. It was the only class I looked forward to! seriously. I would take it again!!

i think he was a great teacher. you have to be read a lot but you learn a lot. if you don't like reading and coming to class then don't take him. you miss a class you miss alot. lots of briefs. very helpful especially if you have a problem or don't understand something, in or outta class. overall, it was a great pleasure.

Prof teaches you to think outside of the box. The class is easy, but is not super structured, so if that's your thing, he's not for you. He really focuses on making you think. Easy A; just do the weekly response papers (short) and there are only two tests. I like prof Gallo and recommend this class!

to tell u the truth i really didnt like him at first he would always show up late to class & that would piss me off. dont think he'll apply the 15 minute rule. he was 30 mins late & expected everyone to still be there. but yeah in the end he was a great teacher i learned a lot. i suggest this class to people that like to read long court cases.

At first i disagreed with the professor alot. He does make you think out the box, but at times makes you feel like he's thoughts are right.But as the course goes on it gets better. He is late alot, but some students are too so i didnt mind. So attend his class, participate, and take the easy final and you will be fine

Great professor, keeps the class interesting, you'll never be bored. You need to read the cases and do the briefs to do well, but it's worth it. Tests aren't too difficult (only 3), but he is a hard grader. He is usually late, but it's to your benefit if you didn't study for a test and need some last minute study time. Take him!

awesome guy. very easy class if u attend the lectures. you have to do briefs on cases, but i really never did them and still passed the class with a decent grade. if ur looking for a good grade or polisci class this is it. easy in all aspects. however, he does go off topics and asks random questions which get extended to long discussions. gd though

I have to disagree with the person who gave him a sad face and said he was never helpful or available. I went to his office hours a couple of times and he was always there. Sometimes the class convos were off topic, but it was still interesting. I didn't agree with him all the time, but I spoke up and he didn't mind. I liked the class & professor.

Great teacher! convos may get off topic but he manages to tie them into the subject. He makes you question things and use your brain. he's helpful as long as you ask him for help, but he wont give you THE answers, he'll make you think. The reader is NECESSARY. Do the assignments, participate, and read. you'll be fine. he can be chill :]

Cool teacher! I would recommend that you dont slack off in this class. Even though the work assigned is not hard. You need to make sure to do your part. Analyze the cases assigned and pay attention in class. He goes over the cases, so if you pay attention you will do well in the tests.

Gallo is the best teacher I have had at CSUN.Super cool and approachable. And class is not that hard as long as you read the main textbook.Midterm and Final are very simple.I recommend this class to everyone =)

Probably the best chicano studies professor. Every professor has different teaching technique, Gallo's technique is very effective. The course in general is hard but he helps you a lot a lot!!!He makes you think to solve the cases your reading!! I believe he gave me a grade I honestly didnt earn. I know i didnt do well in the test but I did ask for his help and he gave me a C and im happy with that grade!! If you want to really learn something take him!!

So much better than taking POLY SCI take this class. You will learn so much about amendments and how to properly create an argument. Can go a little off topic in the beginning of class. Take good notes and buy the book YOU WILL NEED IT TO PASS

Hes super hillarious. Gets off topic, but thats his way of incorporating our lives into the material. Hes a very smart individual. Always late, so gets on your nerves. Serious and fair grader, but takes forever to grade midterms. You'll have a good time if you have a good sense of humor.

Chicano Studies wasn't my first choice, but since i had to take it, i wouldn't choose any other teacher. i had a friday 3hour class. he made it interesting, first half we talked about anything we wanted sports, whatever. second half put us in a situation on what the reading was about so we can understand. SUPER CHILL. Got an A. RECOMMEND!!

he is so fun! try to participate in class so he knows who you are. basically, for hw you write summaries of supreme court cases (not that bad. but some say he doesnt even count them. then there are two written 2 exams. no surprises, just be sure to pay attention in class. not that hard since material is pretty interesting :) TAKE HIM!!!!

Prof Gallo is the most awesome professor I have taken at CSUN. He is so passionate about the subject and is a very engaging prof. The book is a MUST because all the hw comes from it, and the hw is practically the exams. There're 2 exams which he will base your grade from so go to class, take GOOD notes, and pay attention. Easy class overall.

I took Gallo and honestly he is one of the best Chicanoa studies professor I have ever taken. His lectures where always interesting and he made you think. He can be a butt at times but overall he is a great professor. He is a lawyer as well so he knows what he is talking about. If you really want to learn take him.

This was one of my favorite classes. He tends to get off topic all the time and crack jokes instead but somehow ties it into his lessons. We only had one midterm and the final. There was 10 papers due throughout the whole semester but were one page minimum each. Not a difficult class and very entertaining. I recommend it!

Teaches you life lessons through the lectures. You can tell he cares about what he's talking about and treats the students like human beings rather than computers. Would take this professor again.

One of the best professors I've had at CSUN. He is hilarious and makes the class very entertaining. Teaches you life situations related to the law. One midterm and final. He clearly presents the information and prepares you very well for his tests. Would most definitely recommend him to anyone. The only bad thing is he's a Clippers fan haha.

Professor Gallo is by far the best professor I have taken at CSUN. He is hilarious and his lectures are very interesting. The class consisted of briefing cases on a weekly bases, 1 midterm and 1 final. He explains everything very well and is willing to help.

At first i was dreading to take this class especially because i thought that professor Gallo was gonna make this class a nightmare but you will soon find out that Gallo is a goofball that make the class enjoyable. he did get off topic but when it came down to work he was always straight to the point and clear. he jokes a lot and messes with student

Proffesor Gallo is one of the best proffesors at CSUN without a doubt, I took CHS 260 & CHS 202. You won't regret taking his class because he is first of all hilarious and he teaches you information that is actually useful and that is true for both classes he teaches. Just show up to class though because he covers everything during class.

As much as I enjoy a laidback setting, Gallo would take 30mins to start class... 30mins you can use else where. He could be a butt but when you go to office hours he is pretty helpful. Downside, you don't really know what's your grade in class. Chill class but sometimes it's pointless to go.

Gallo is very intimidating at first. He really wants the class to talk, even about the most random things. He's actually pretty funny and once you talk to him and are cool with him, he's actually cool to talk to about anything. The only downside is he picks on people a lot. Other than that the midterm and final are super easy.

He is hilarious. He likes to picks on students to participate but wants you to come out of your comfort zone. His class consists of historical cases, you have to analyze them and then he goes over it the next class session. Not a bad class but I liked his sense of humor. I looked forward to his classes every week! he does his best to teach you cases and apply the lessons to your everyday life. for anyone saying he "picks on students" honestly toughen up because he is only saying that for the sake of forming a discussion and provoking thoughts which he states at the very beginning. hes an awesome teacher take him!

I recommend taking this class for anyone that wants to learn about Goverment and laws. His class was very enjoyable and you want to go to class. Read all your cases and participate and you will be fine.

Tough professor, not tough like you're going to stay up late doin hw or studying but tough as in he wants you to fully think about the answer you are giving and why you are giving that answer. He's a lawyer, so he wants you to think like one to better your way of thinking. Might seem intimidating but he's actually really cool and chill off topic

Straight forward teacher, he expects you to come to class prepared and be ready for him to ask you questions about the HW. Weekly HW was easy, class discussions revolve around the HW. If you do good on the midterm he will make your midterm grade your final grade, if you need to improve your grade you can take the final. Extra credit option too.

He is an amazing professor and truly wants his students to think logically to brief cases. He is very hard to read at first but you will grow to his personality. The textbook is a must for the class and it is a very interesting class to take. His midterm was based on the cases of his choosing and he will tell you which ones to review before hand.

Professor Gallo wants his students to be able to step out of their comfort zone and to THINK CRITICALLY about their answers to a question as he'll students to back up their answers. Make sure to brief your cases and to HEAVILY STUDY the steps you need to take when addressing any of the Amendments Professor Gallo explains during lectures!

Very easy and interesting chicano class. You dont do any book work during class, mainly discussion. There is minimal homework that the textbook is needed for. Probably the only class I was actually excited to go to! Highly recommend.

Currently finishing the semester and have my final tmr. Be ready to be picked on! You may get chosen to brief the case so be prepared or else he'll think you didn't do or try to brief the cases. His reader isn't needed too much for hw but he could do random book check to see if you have it. Over all not a bad class or professor, better than others!

I took this class last semester, he has a great personality, makes it very fun and entertaining for students to engage. As long as you do the readings, you'll know how to do paperwork which is not a lot. He is someone very straight forward, and doesn't sugar coat things. Definitely recommend,

The only critique I have for Gallo is that he's nearly inaccessible outside of the classroom. Barely responds to emails. Other than that, he's an amazing professor.

he is fun,you brief cases and its important to print your papers before class or you will be lost plus the classes are basically introduction to amendments or overview/clarity of the cases needed to be brief.
