He is a great lecturer and his exams are very straigth forward and fair. but he is not an easy teacher. I promis if you study you will get a good grade. The class is very good and you will learn alot.

Good communicator, straight forward, gives you all the information that you need and the class teaches you many things that are important in everyday situations. Taking good notes will help you alot on the test.

He is a very knowledged about what he teaches. He is one of the down to earth teacher. All his tests are right out of the notes and some from readings. He doesn't try to trick you in any way. He loves to conversate with students. So..if you want an A in the class..just study the notes and read.

The class is not easy, but this professor keeps you interested, and is very knowledgeable. Study the notes and you should do well. He is a very good professor. You will remember what he teaches for future reference.

Not an easy professor but lectures very well and speaks so slow that you'll be forced to increase the playback speed on your tape recorder. He knows his material and keeps everyone interested. Water Supply and Sewage Disposal was easy. But Toxicology is friggin hard. But i aced both classes bc his tests are not tricky & are straight out of lecture

What an awesome and incredibly intelligent and funny professor. He is so interested in his subject that even if you hated it, you would walk away having learned to apreciate all things Environmental. It is not a dificult class if you show up every day because he covers a lot each session, however he is so humorous the time passes quickly.

Very interesting class. I learned a lot about my everyday surroundings and will use a lot of that knowledge for the rest of my life. Dr. Machado is serious about his lectures but he also adds a good amount of humor to it. He is very fair on tests. Final is cumulative though. I highly recommend him if you plan on taking an EOH 353 class.

Tox wasnt d easiest class in d world but he made you a little more interested. D tests are hard untill u cram that notebook!!!! It's easy to get lost so make u record all lectures incase u zone out. Tests could be confusing, involves lots of Ochem, and I mean lots. Not too bad overall.

He's a really cool person and has a good sense of humor. He encourages every student to pass. There is no homework and he doesn't take roll. He gives 3 midterm tests and 1 final. Although the tests are not multiple choice, they are simple and straightforward questions that require a short answer. Just take good notes and you should pass. I got a B.

TOX is not an easy subject, come to every class, take good notes and begin studying for the test early (not just the night before) and you will do fine. His test questions are straight from the notes and he is fair in grading. I can't wait to take Hazaderous Waste Mgmt. with Dr. Machado.

Very smart guy... very clear lectures... 3 exams (all Q&A, no multiple choice so u really have to learn) He doesn't take roll, but I recommend u go to every class b/c he explains so much. Material is easy when u show up to class instead of cramming out of the book the night before a test. I recommend him highly.

GREAT guy... great attitude. funny stories... very informative. attendance is not neccesary but it makes learning the material ALOT easier becuz he breaks it all down 4 u. take notes on what he writes and keeps note of his stories to relate to the info. tests are short answer but do-able. So this class was amazing: it was really informative. Hes funny, hes got a lot of background in his field, he shares some great stories. Definitely take this class, the information is great to know, and it really opens you up to the major. tests are short answer, but easy. Need to read 1 or 2 chapters per test, everything else is notes.

This guy knows Toxicology back and forth! He's so smart! Class attendace is mandatory 'cause that's how you get your A! Just study your notes, he's not tricky on his exams, straight out questions and you'll get an A!!!

I also had Dr. Machado for EOH 101Dr. Machado is an amazing teacher. I would say it's an easy A, but you do have to show up to class. It isn't mandatory but it definitely helps with tests. His tests are strictly Q&A, but straight from lectures. Interesting, not boring, worth while, changes your views on health, awesome class. can be taken as a G.E.

Great teacher. Very clear. 3 tests + final over course of class. tests based 75% on notes, 25% whatever chapter(s) he has you read. make sure to study. very easy if you takes good notes, study them, and look over chapter.

This guy is an expert in Tox. Easy to talk to, organized lectures, straight forward on exams, very fair on the final. Keep the two exams cause you'll need them for the final. Know your notes back and forth. Great class!

Great class that is almost identical to EOH101. I liked Dr. Seiver much better, though. Machado is very knowledgeable and a great lecturer. Class consisted of 2 exams (written), a paper, and the final. The material is enjoyable and life-changing. He gives great exaples and is organized. Overall, pretty easy. He reminds me of a genius cave man.

Dr. Machado is the best professor I have had all throughout college. Clear notes, well organized, tests are short answer or couple word answers all from notes with alittle from book. Study and its an easy A. Dr. Machado's class made me switch from being a Rad. Tech. major to an EOH major!

Easily the best teacher I have ever had. If you come to class and take notes and actually listen the tests are easy. He actually makes everything he talks about interesting-literally! We talked about tapeworms for a week and he made it so fascinating I not only paid attention the whole time but actually retained what I learned!

Loved this professor. Take good notes and go to class. I learned alot in this class and if you happen to work in food service it will actually be very useful to you. The professor is always prepared and fun to listen to. Sometimes it can get dry but you can tell that he just needs to get through that material. Take this class but it's not easy.

EXTREMELY entertaining, interesting, and knowledgable. His lectures are thorough, and he usually gives above-and-beyond information, which you are not responsible for, but may be good to know--if you're interested. He's funny and freely gives examples from his own life, which are relevent to the lecture (not "why are you telling us this?" stories)

He is one of my favorite professors ever. Take him as much as you can, he provides you with the most interesting information, hilarious jokes and opinions. Test is super straight forward from notes. Dont even read the book. He teaches EOH 101, 353, Toxicology, Vector Control. Amazing guy

The most interesting teacher I have ever had. I've had him for two classes and I have never seen him not know the answer to a question. If you are willing to put in the effort he go above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. I have learned and retained more from his classes than all of my other classes combined.

He's really chill, and his notes are extremely helpful for the tests. there will be 2 exams,1 final, and one paper. the tests are easy, and from the lecture and the readings. in general, it was a real interesting class, and he makes it fun.

WOW, now I did the math for all 3 midterms and i had a average 75 which is a C going into the final. I received a 98% on the final which is an A. I checked My overall Grade and it was a B+ I for sure would have thought i would be getting a low B- or a C+ in the class but he really helped me here. His lectures are great as well Take him!

He is by far, the best professor I've ever taken. I highly recommend him for as much classes possible. No book is necessary, just listen to his lectures. He makes the most interesting, thoughtful lectures, and is a pretty funny, entertaining, and sarcastic guy. If youre debating on whether or not to take him for EOH 101 or 353, do it!!

This professor is really good! He gives a clear lecture, good notes and is just an overall chill guy which is pretty cool. Take a lot of notes and be prepared for write in exams. He does help people when they need it. It was a cool class and I would take over again just for the heck of it!

Prof. Machado is brilliant!! I am not an environmental major but loved this class so interesting. His class is mainly off of his lectures so you have to pay attention but it is not a drag they're very interesting. Tests are actual fill ins so you have to actually learn the material but the class is so interesting it is not hard. Would take again.

Extremely intelligent!! Took him when the swine flu broke out 1st person to say not to worry it was a regular flu while the whole world was going crazy. He is incredibly smart. Classes are interesting and scary. You will get scared to eat food for a couple of wks but he reassures you you'll be fine, doesn't make you panic. Definitely take him!!

He is so enthusiastic about the material, very knowledgable and provides so many examples that are entertaining. Presents a lot of clear information and easy concepts. Funny too, so you can't get bored. He provides notes for CHs and are tested on what he gives us, some questions from the bk chapters but mostly from the notes taken in class. GOOD:D

Study hard for all tests. The first one and last are easier than the second. Record lectures, there are alot of little things that you may miss. The second section has alot of handouts. copy them down. Very knowlegeable, most informative class i've had yet.

He is not as good as the reviews on here had my believe, but still a great teacher. Tests are short answers which requires studying, not easy tests. But if you study and go to class youll do fine. very interesting subject and he will teach you a whole lot! take this class you will learn ridiculous amount of stuff

Normally, not a class he teaches, but his lectures are extremely informative and clear. He emphasizes points that need to be written down. Tests are all short answer and cover a vast amount of information, but straight forward. Very possible to get an A. I would recommend him and would take him again for other EOH classes.

Dr. Machado is pretty awesome! There are 3 tests and 1 cumulative (not difficult) final. You just have to make sure that you attend every class because he doesn't give you a textbook. His tests are based off of what he says in class. He is extremely knowlegable and I loved most of his lectures. Make sure you know your notes for tests.

Great professor! Tests are not multiple choice or fill in the blank he asks a question you answer it to show you learned the material. That's what makes it hard. Go to class study a little and it'll be a breeze.

Honestly the only reason I showed up to my other classes were because of Machado's class. Must attend class his tests are specific & fill in but straight from his lectures. he is a thorough hilarious & passionate teacher.. His lectures are easy to follow even though its a lot of material. Best class I've ever taken in my 3 years at csun. LOVE HIM

Lectures are very informative. As for tests take good notes and memorize everything. If you miss a lecture you better get the notes cause that could be on the test. The final is cumulative. This is not an easy class, in order to get that great grade you better study a lot. Also the class consists of a 5 page paper on the environmental topics.

Dr Machaddo is the greatest professor I ever had, I had so many classes with him. I took all his classes so far. He is a caring, respectful, and knowledgeable professor. He has a great sense of humor in an appropriate and respectful way. I have so much respect for him. He is a fair professor, and his lectures are very clear.

This teacher is a walking book, he knows everything and anything off the top of his mind he doesn't use a text book. He is really funny professor that makes you pay attention in class. However, the only bad thing is that his tests are all short answers so you must learn the material or you are screwed.

Grade consists of 3 exams, no EC, no HWK, or anything else. He knows what he's talking about, but the material is way hard, so get ready to study study study. Take clear notes, read the book (optional), ask questions, etc.

This professor is difficult, hard grader, and will assign you lot of essay writing , but his lecture is so amazing that you'll be shocked or know the truth about our health environment. He only has two midterms and final, but his finals reflected on the two midterms, so that should be easy to study. He doesn't do curves, so be prepared to work hard

The class is very lecture heavy as he uses no book, everything that's on the test is straight from the lecture, so make sure you take good notes and best to not skip class, usually teaches until the end. He makes the lectures very interesting and fun that it goes by quick. There were four tests and they weren't cumulative. He's also a cool guy.

He's one of the best prof. that I've taken during COVID, he explained a lot of what is going on and answered our COVID questions. His lectures are easy to follow and the amount of assignments are reasonable. Take him if you have a chance, I feel like I learned a lot from his class but he did get awkwardly frustrated with zoom sometimes.

Machado is great! Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll want to make sure to show up to get notes. Not to mention the lectures are really interesting. He's also witty and sarcastic. Homework consist of a 2 page weekly website overview which is really easy. The midterm and final are pretty much the same format. Highly recommend!

He's a good teacher, but you need to make sure your notes are very good, or else you wont have anything to study with. I will say the tests are the only assignments for this class, but they are not very easy. Other than that, he is a very good explainer.

Professor Machado has been the most exceptional professor I have encountered in my major thus far. His passion for teaching and great knowledge make the class incredibly engaging. Despite attendance not being mandatory, I find the subjects fascinating that never want to miss his lectures. All exams are write your answers, not hard if you study.

I have taken Machado for a few EOH classes, and he is great! Attendance isn't mandatory, but his lectures are interesting so coming to class is enjoyable. As long as you show up, take good notes, understand the main concepts of lectures, you'll do just fine on exams. Also, some of the final questions are recycled from previous exams.

Attendance isn't mandatory, but lectures are so interesting you don't want to miss class. 2 midterms, one final, and really easy weekly hw assignments to boost your grade.
