Really good guy, funny at times, fair with work and grading. overall a great teacher!
Fair in grading, not too hard. You have to read but I didn't. I just attended class and I got an A.
Great class, sick teacher. He makes a difficult topic interesting and clear. He has a true interest in helping his students understand the material, and he presents it in a very interesting guy. Has a good sense of humor, and is pretty lenient with grading. He accepts late papers, and gives out a lot of As and Bs. Easy B, not too difficult A.
Tonio is an awesome guy, very eloquent, and keeps lectures on track. the only thing I didn't enjoy about his class, is that I attended every meeting, and added to discussions, and he addressed me by name once! most everyone else who spoke he knew their names... but not me....
Tono- As a person he's very intelligent, funny, has a good heart-truly cares about students learning. The class work is set-up so that you'll learn the material but not stress out doing a bunch of pointless time consuming bs. So, basically you'll learn the material, get an A or B (if you come to class all the time), and have a tight professor......
Awesome teacher. Was totally cool throughout the quarter. Accepts week late papers without penalty. Always willing to go over ideas. One of the best teachers Ive had. Wish I could have more classes like his. =(
Awesome class
Fantastic teacher. He is very, very intelligent, and he definitely knows the subject. He is also a fantastic speaker and very accomodating. Also allows 1-week grace periods for most papers.
very knowledgeable, there weren't any questions that i asked that he didnt have a concise clear answer for, he cares about his class and expects that at least the reading will get done. very casual structure, most of the teaching is done by just having a conversation with the class which narrows arguments, highly recommended for motivated students.
Clean, well-developed teaching style. Lectures and readings are structured and interesting. He engages the class in discussions and encourages participation. I'll take another class from him if I have the opportunity. Great way to fill a GE!
I don't know what all these other people are talking about ? He's hot, and that's all that really matters!
A truly compassionate teacher that cares about his class. His lectures are engaging and interesting, and all that he asks is that you aren't dozing off and aren't completely silent. If you don't get something out of his teachings, you aren't paying attention, because his words and his encouraging eloquence will influence in some way or another.
I had him for fall qrt of 07, BEST teacher i've had. Extremely helpful and willing to explain anything that his students don't understand right away. Hes too cool! i strongly recommend him.
Great personality and really knows what he's talking about. It's an easy A if you can write a good essay and comprehend the readings. Only drawback is it was a class that requires you to think really early in the morning when your trying to wake up. He's hot !
Helpful. Keeps the reading steady but it's worth it to keep up. Examples have been the best I have seen in an instructor. He's not there to babysit and he'll call you out if you deserve it. He's kicked out the whole class for a 5min break to get coffee/fresh air! So pay attention because it's just that easy to learn from him.
Mr. Ramirez is a great teacher, you will enjoy his class because he makes it interesting and fun. He makes a lot of bad jokes but he is funny, I highly reccomend this teacher. Exams are easy, it is easy to get an A if you show up because attendance does count. He also gives extra credit. I wish their were more teachers like him. He is very cute.
nice proffessor but makes you work hard to get an A. not easy to get an A in this class.
He's a very good teacher, easy to understand, and grades fairly easy. All you have to do is pay attention in class and just understand it and you will get an A guaranteed. He's extremely funny and makes the class interesting. I'm still takin his class and gettin an A without trying hard. If you're lookin for a Great teacher and an A take him!
Tono Ramirez is an awesome teacher. He is absolutely there for his students. His teaching capabilities are by far impressive. He is very through when it comes to explaining assignments, tests/quizzes. If you don't understand what he's explaining he will take whatever time you need to help you out. On top of all that, he's a young and fun teacher.
Mr. Ramirez teaches very well. He is very eloquent in explaining all the class materials & makes an otherwise dull topic into a very lively class dialog. Plus, he doesn't grade harshly at all! I am very impressed with this professor, and I highly recommend him.
Tono is tight. Easy grader. Very clear on what he expects. Quizzes and Midterms are easy. I actually feel like i can argue better with people now. And i can have a logical discussion with someone.
take him for any philosophy class, but has that tough guy thing going, but still good if you do what he wants
Tono is a fun guy that tries to keep the class fun with some great discussions and the occasional film is shown to try to keep the class in a contemporary manner. Highly recommended!
This class is not the easiest, but Tono makes it enjoyable and understandable. He is down-to-earth, easy to approach for help, funny, and is able to come up with endless examples in order to help the student understand the content. He rocks!!
for once you get a professor that's relatable, understands your arguments, and interesting
Reading check quizzes from reading assignments, 3 papers, 1 midterm, 1 final. The midterm and final are fair and easy. He goes over the questions you're not sure of, which is basically getting the answer. He is EXTREMELY helpful during office hours. He makes philosophy easy to understand and most of all, makes it interesting. Recommended!
I highly recommend this teacher. He makes everything super clear and if you need any help, he'll be more happy to explain it to you. The homework is easy, just read and answer questions. The tests are not too bad. You won't regret taking him =]Plus he makes philosophy really interesting.
Enjoyed this class because he makes philosophy as contemporary as it could be. I thought it would be boring and have hard readings. But I love this class so much is because the readings are straightforward. His grading is SUPER flexible. Just go to class, answer simple hw questions, write essays, take the tests, and you're good.
RECOMMEND. class was easy to follow and the course material was easy to understand. he is very clear on what to expect. weekly quizzes/1 midterm/final/minimal HW. Young and energetic professor, will not bore the hell outta you.
There's a lot to be said for a teacher that can engage the class and keep the information fun and interesting. The syllabus was clear, the information given throughout class was well explained and he obviously really loves his job and loves the subject. Cares about the students, doesn't act like helping with problems is a chore.
Tono is the coolest prof out there. He's extremely easy. I got an A+. Do the homework. The weekly quizzes are straight forward. He's funny and terribly hot. Very hot, hairy bald man...TONO I KNOW YOU READ THIS SHIET...HEY SUP!!
Amazing teacher! smart ,eloquent, and fair. This is a teacher who really cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. He provides many contemporary examples in order for students to understand the material. Philosophy is not an easy subject, but he makes it fun, interesting, and highly manageable. TAKE HIM!
Excellence. Devotes 1,000%. Just being in his presence will raise your IQ. A must for anyone. Guaranteed you won't come across a better teacher--Recognize and Appreciate. But if you resist doing your part, then save the whining because you're a fool for having missed a great opportunity. Well-groomed.
If you are interested in philosophy (including metaphysics, epistemology, logic, etc), DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. Not only does it explain it in such a dumbed-down manner that I don't even need to pay attention, he also commits fallacies when rebutting some of the theories. But if you are looking for an easy time, then go for him.
Great teacher! Intelligent, funny, and extremely down to earth/approachable. Explains it in a clear and somewhat easy manner, since he understands that philosophy is a dense subject. He is extremely helpful and will provide endless examples in order for students to understand. Highly recommended!
Tono is great. He genuinely wants you to succeed in his class and understand the material. He is completely approachable and down to earth. He does not play favorites, and treats everyone fair and equal. This is a good class taught by a good teacher. I recommend taking Tono Ramirez. The fact that he is good eye candy doesnt hurt either.
Amazing teacher! He's funny and I totally understand everything he says! He's super HOT which is a plus!
He is very helpful and a good teacher. I didn't expect that there were many writing assignments and reading...Also, it's really hard to understand material if you are an international student and not christian. Learning ethics based on Christianity is not useful for everyone.
One of the best teachers I ever had. You do need the book so buy it asap but he has rental copies available so its not too much $. Quiz every friday but they are easy if you just paid attention. His notes are online so you don't have to write them down in class. Honestly you have to be real dumb not to get at least a C+. Attendance is manditory.
Intelligent, upbeat, comical, helpful, fun.
I lovee Tono. He's so humorous and down to earth, yet he knows what he's talking about. He's patient when you have questions and visiting during his office hours are helpful. He drops the lowest quiz score and they're relatively easy as long as you know the material well. I always look forward to his class and he makes me "lol" all the time
BEST TEACHER AT DE ANZA! Doesn't pick favorites(a big problem with many De Anza professors), doesn't have personal bias, ridiculously clear and helpful, truly cares about students understanding the material well, humorous(a big plus), uses a textbook that greatly supplements his laid-back/witty style of teaching. What can I say? Simply the best!
Highly recommended! The class is easy (2 essays, 2 tests, and a few HW questions/week), and funny (He doesn't repeat the textbook in class, he uses it to back up his lecture). Let say, if I am going to take another phil class, he is the one and the only one I choose.
BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN DE ANZA!. His class is fun and easy. He really cares about his students. He makes sure everyone get it before move on. Anyone can get an A if you do the HW he assigns. This is my first time taking PHIL and I'm in love with it.
Very awesome guy! He makes lectures interesting and easy to learn. He'll occasionally make funny jokes. Pretty much all the material he covers are from the textbook. I guess the text acts as a helping tool, but you will be required to do homework from it.
I had so much fun in this class. He was extremely helpful and always available whenever you needed to ask a question. Also his lectures were very interactive. He truly cares about you. He is excellent.
Very dry. I have no idea why everyone rates this Prof so high? Mystery. I hated this class. Better off with another teacher. But if you take it, attend and do homework for an easy "A."
Tono does a phenomenal job introducing moral philosophy/ethics. Although there is a lot of reading, some of which can be tough to understand, he is able to summarize and present the material in a clear and understandable manner. He is very approachable and willing to help and work with you. Overall, I highly recommend this class with him.
ATTENDING TO CLASS N DO THE HW (it's not as much as other 4 units class), EASY A! Tono is a funny person n a cat lover so he often makes jokes on cat. 5 quizzes (the lowest one dropped), 1 midterm and 1 final. Nothing's hard if you pay attention in class:D
Great teacher, totally helpful if you ask for it. He encourages interaction from students which helps with understanding the topic. Mid-term, final and weekly quizzes on chapters and pretty easy homework weekly as well, book is super easy to understand.
You gotta give this guy credit for turning an otherwise dry subject into something more fun, interesting, and applicable to everyday life. He looks kinda mean at first but is actually a really funny guy who gives funny scenarios relating to the topic. Quizzes are hard but less painful if you study. One negative is the classroom gets cold.
Good professor. He really made the class applicable to real life senarios. Also, his lectures made the reading much more easier to understand.
I took him a while ago. He is a nice prof. There are quizzes on every chapters but they are easy though. If you are unclear about something just ask him, he will help you.
He's one of the best professors at this school. He teaches a very boring subject, but makes it interesting. I wasn't looking forward to this class but it's definitely enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend him!
Boy is Deductive Logics hard! I struggled through my way in class even though a did not missed one day. Tono makes class easy that paired with good notes, reading before class and some office time with him will help you pass the course. Talk about cats if you want a break from the class and he will engage back in the conversation.
I love Tono! He made Philosophy a very interesting subject. He sure looks strict (actually he is quite strict), but his examples are really funny and crystal clear. Exams are not hard, but you have to do the reading. Def. recommened if you are willing to put in some effort!
Great teacher! He made class really interesting and he didn't care about remembering useless information but the main ideas of things which was helpful. He's super clear and planned. I enjoyed his class and I would take it again with him! Also great sense of humor which is always a plus.
I took this class with the intention of learning how to "critical think" of philosophical questions. However, this class was more of learning how to deconstruct, construct, and critique arguments. However, this class taught me how to point out weak and strong arguments. Tono's homework assignments were clear and easy paced. Take this class!
ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS I HAVE SEEN AT DE ANZA!!! He is so funny and amazing to listen to. His lectures are great and he makes everything really easy to understand, which is a plus especially on a topic like Philosophy. I took him for both ethics and critical thinking and did great in both classes. Do the work and you'll see the grade!
Mr. Ramirez is a wonderful teacher! He makes critical thinking really interesting & gives a lot of real-to-life examples to help us understand the relevance of the course material. Thanks to him, I now can analyze what people say more deeply. He also makes sure that everyone understands & encourages students to ask questions. I recommend him 100%!
Awesome teacher, very clear and helps you understand the material if you are having trouble. Is funny as hell when hes explaining things and uses the funniest examples. There is homework everyday practically but it literally takes 10 minutes at the most if you understand the material. Definitely recommended to all. Take him
Great teacher. I came to the course not being interested at all in the subject, but was surprised to enjoy coming to class. He is extremely helpful, fun, makes learning awesome. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing and very helpful teacher! He actually cares about his job as well as his students. 2 essays, 2 exams, & reading hwk with journals included (not hard at all) if you keep up with the reading and attend class it's almost guaranteed that you will pass! He's lenient with assignments. TAKE HIM FOR ETHICS (GE req)!!!! He makes phil interesting =)
This man is excellent. He goes out of his way to make sure his students aren't embarrassed when they try to answer questions during lectures. Very engaging and incredibly funny. Do your homework(which shouldn't take longer than 20-30 minutes) and attend the lectures, and you will most likely receive an A. Easy tests, assignments and wonderful class
Toño is fantastic. (He is one of my favorite teachers that I've had at De Anza, to be perfectly honest.) I really enjoyed his class, and if you show up and pay attention, you probably will too, and get a good grade to boot. He is very kind and does give a damn about his students, plus his classes were never dull. A+++ would recommend again.
Great teacher! Classes are always interesting! READ ALL CHAPTERS THAT ARE ASSIGNED TO READ because if you don't you will miss out on discussions. I recommend taking his class! He is very down to earth and understanding :)
BEST PROFESSOR I've had at DeAnza! his lectures are out of this world, you'll love it I promise. He cares for his students and helps you when in need. Oh and he is a cutie:)
Great class! Interesting guy and great lectures. Make sure to always do the HW since it doubles as attendance & is a huge part of your grade. Tests & quizzes aren't super easy so make sure to actually study
Great professor. Really good at arguing certain philosophical ideas from different positions. If you ask a question he always has a good reply, and will admit to being less than satisfying in hopes to stay true to a certain standpoint.
Very good teacher. Extremely easy class; you'd have to actively work not to pass. He makes the content fun with relatable examples. He is always willing to help students; you can tell he wants you to do well. Make sure you learn the names of his cats; there's easy extra credit points there. If I could take another of his classes, I would.
After I transferred, I could not help to miss Ton's class. He is an awesome prof who is clear, funny, and organized. Not biased and present us the materials in an flippingly interesting way. Study is required to get an A.
I love Ramirez! He's adorable! He's got a GREAT sense of humor and his analogies and examples are always hilarious, as well as clear. I had taken a couple philosophy classes before and hated them, but Ramirez encourages discussion to make it more interesting, and he covers enough topics that if you don't like one it's not a big deal.
I have taken two of Professor Ramirez's classes already in Philosophy, and I can say they are truly the best part of any student's schedule. Both his Philosophy and Critical Thinking courses are incredibly interesting, with funny and relative examples. Extremely clear on assignments. Any course he teaches will have you WANTING to go to school.
Tony Tone. Another cool Phil teacher (they all are). Keep up with the course reader and you'll pass easily. I received a C during his summer course because I payed most attention to my speech class. He also shows a couple of nice movies. Take him if you want to learn and relax. Open your mind
Tone is seriously the best professor at de Anzac. Super easy to pass all you need to do is listen to his lectures and do the hw. He grades very easy! Love love love him!
Mr. Tono is really cool guy, he have big EYES. hw are easy cuz you can just copy the answer the back of the book but quizes are some time easy and some are not. Midterm is easy but the final is not. even he give you the study guide for the final. he put the opposite questions on the final, especially translation parts.anyway, take him :)
Great professor. He has interesting lectures and constantly engages the class. He is great at playing devils advocate from perspective of different philosophical ideas. Ethics being his graduate work, he's very knowledgable on the subject. His requirements are clear, and grading is fair. As long as you normally do the daily reading, you'll do fine.
One of the best professors you will have, guaranteed. Do your work. He gives lots of extra credit. Generous grader. Always approachable. Plus, he's really funny. And hot.
Tono is extremely helpful, funny, and wants you to succeed. As long as you update him with your life or circumstances that might make you unable to turn in assignments on time, he usually extends the time you have to turn assignments in! Easy projects, easy homework as long as yo read, and overall he was a fun professor to have.
Probably the best teacher I've ever had.
Hes A really funny teacher, gives funny examples & is pretty helpful if u just ask. HW is pretty eaassyyy! JUST do it or attempt !! Not many questions on test so STUDY!!!
Sitting here completing these last assignments made me realize that I am going to miss his class. Toño is hilarious and I learned A LOT from this class. I walked into his class saying "another boring GE class" and I am leaving having enjoyed his class. I am glad I took him. He's an awesome professor. I wish I could have gotten to know him better.
Take this class! It's interesting, and you can get your GE out of the way at the same time! He teaches very straight-forwardly and uses good examples to illustrate his points! He's very understanding and is happy to help if you need it! A few quizzes (very easy) and midterm and final which are pretty much exactly like the quizzes except longer!
I always thought crushing on a professor was inappropriate until I landed in his class. Hot, intelligent, hilarious, incredibly engaging. Take him. Even my boyfriend has a crush on him. But more importantly, you'll learn and gain interest in even the most boring of subjects.
Tono is a great teacher. Deductive Logic is a somewhat difficult subject, but he is extremely clear and always willing to provide help if you ask for it.
Great teacher! This class was interesting but confusing. I enjoyed learning deductive logic. I just wished he had more office hours. Go to every class! You will enjoy it.
Tono is a super awesome professor. He really knows how to make you think in the right direction with super interesting and funny examples. The class was relaxed and the homework's were not hard. Do your work and its an easy A.
I took PHIL4 (Critical Thinking), and it is by far the EASIEST class I've taken. I got 102% on the midterm and didn't pay attention in class. The homework is very, very minimal and if you do the homework the "lectures" will be a breeze and super easy. Really easy A. Also, Tono is awesome and if you are having trouble he is 110% there to help.
Tono is very funny, easy going and a very helpful professor. If you don't understand the material he will stay after class and help you until you understand it. I have taken 3 of his classes. His lectures are very informational and he has fun with his class. He's always cracking jokes and talking about his obsession for his cats.
Very clear and very helpful; if you don't understand something he will go into detail with as many clear examples as you need to make sure you get it. Reviews previous topics enough that everything sticks very well. Class is interesting, entertaining, and unintimidating. Homework and attendance are optional but useful.
Amazing Instructor and really makes his material he teaches clear. While the stuff is not easy, it is not that hard either if you really pay attention and actually do the work he tells you to do. Total of 2 exams (Midterm and Final) and weekly quizzes. I highly recommend him!
In the beginning of the quarter he stated, "don't worry about points in this class, because that is not what you need to focus on". Points is exactly what you need to focus on, because if you don't, you can go from an A to a C real quick. He tries to hard to be "sophisticated" & "enlightened" and it comes off real arrogant which is super annoying.
Ramirez is always willing to help students and tries his best to make lectures as interesting as possible. Although he is the first professor at De Anza to give me a C, I am not going to say he is a terrible professor. Rather, I will say material in this course is difficult and he could had taught them a lot better. You can't half-ass this course.
Very good teacher, show up do the assignments, read and the class is a breeze. If you don't it's not likely to understand the material. Email him, he's super helpful.
Regarded as one of the best Profs at De Anza. He's HILARIOUS & makes complex concepts easy 2 understand. If you take his political &or ethics class, the way you think will change forever. 2 easy papers, quiz 1xweek. Deductive Logic (it's basically a math class) is a hard one but he'll spend a ton of time outside of class helping you if needed
This is definitely not a hard class. There is no way not to pass it if you listen carefully and spent some time figuring the material out. He is there to help, and he does a good job throwing out the material in a really interesting way. Hilarious guy! Take him! Attendance is not mandatory but is a buffer for your grade.
He is the funniest professor I've ever taken. His critical thinking class was easy. There's a quiz every week and homework from the textbook every week. The hw is really easy though. He goes through every topic and uses humor to explain them very well. His class was just overall fun. His midterms and final was easy. TAKE HIS CLASS!
I took his critical thinking course. For the most part, after we finish reviewing the book and answering any questions, the class is open for a philosophical discussion about many things where everyone can respectively express their minds. Tono is a really funny teacher but also helpful. Right before quizes, we have review and he answers questions
his phil 3 class should be a requirement to be a US citizen the dude knows how to teach. I looked forward to each and every one of his lectures. Took another one of his classes just to take him again
I meant philosophy 4, his philosophy 4 class is mandatory for the people of this countryworld
This is my first time taking a Philosophy class and coming from someone who already had slight interest in Philosophy, Philosophy became more interesting after taking his class. He's a pretty funny guy and explains concepts very well. He welcomes all perspectives and doesn't seem to discount any one's ideas no matter how different they are.
He's willing to elaborate on the specifics of each philosopher. He most definitely cares about his students; so make sure you ask for clarification if needed. Reasonable and helpful professor.
his class will change your mind on alot of things. it will teach you how to write better, yet he doesnt assign any writings. very clear on what he expects and explains very well. tells you what will be on the quiz/exam ahead of time enough to where you can study and get an easy A. highly recommended!! oh and last thing he is hilarious!!!
He is a very reliable and good person. I want to warn you he does swear so yeah. But that isn't rally much so take him if you have to.
Great professor. He makes sure all students know the concepts and does not leave any room for guessing. Tests are exactly how you think they will be and if you read/practice you will do very well. Tono is really cool and cares about his students learning, and so, his classes are pretty easy to get As in if you try.
Antonio, also goes by Tono, is a great professor! If you come to class and listen to his lectures you'll definitely get an A. He answers all questions with examples that make it a lot easier to understand. He is funny and makes the class engage in his lecture. I would definitely take another class with him!
i've taken multiple of ton's classes and each class he teaches brilliantly. He tries to keep you away from bs unnecessary textbooks to the best of his ability. Most importantly, he tries to leave you with something more than just 4 units and a grade. He leaves you with something to take from the class with meaning and applicability to your life.
Being fresh out of high school and being my first quarter, he was such a nice guy! Note that he DOES use profanity in his class, but it's done to make it entertaining! His lectures are the best thing about him, go to them all and you'll do well! You WILL want to come to class! Makes philosophy clear and fun, even if you don't like the subject!
Awesine teacher! I took his class at 7AM and his teaching style interested me enough to were I as focused and engaged the whole time. I learned a lot. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes! Unless youre easily offended and then you can find another class, ya baby...
Ton is an awesome professor and makes the concepts and readings easier to understand. We had three exams and two major papers (no final). Also, the films we watched were really interesting. This was the first phil class that I've ever taken, so it was a bit difficult for me, but you can get an A if you do the work.
I love Tono! He's so nice and so supportive! Very funny and informative lectures! And he really knows his stuff! What's awesome too is that he does break things down so we truly understand the material. His personality is very down to earth and even though he's humourous he also knows how to stay on track. His homework isn't too difficult either :)
He's super funny, so inspirational. His class could be the best class you would ever take.
A great philosophy teacher. Antonio teaches in a fun and engaging way. His lectures grab your attention and give you new perspectives on life. He is always helpful to those who need it and wants to see his students "get it." Overall, I highly recommend him for philosophy classes. Take him! You will enjoy his class and learn a lot from it.
Tono is one of the best teachers at De Anza! he is hilarious and really understanding. The class consists of 3 exams and 2 essays which are fairly easy if you've read the assignments and took notes. His style of teaching is exceptional. He answers everyone's questions and engages the class making it fun. I wish to take more classes with him.
He's funny and his class is interesting.
Very lively and clear description of key philosophical thoughts
I took phil 7 with Tono in the spring, he is a great teacher and teaches very clearly, but the final was worth 40% which was worth way too much. I did really good in the class did my homework and went to class, but I ended up with a B+, which was not fair at all.I was really good with proofs. The final was way harder than what he taught in in class
So far has been my favorite professor this year! Lie . Favorite professor since I've been in De Anza! Would totally recommend him. I look forward to being in his class everyday! He is my last class so I leave in a great mood.
Don't listen to the reviews. I took two classes w/ him at the same time, biggest mistake. He's really nice and tries his best to make jokes, but the material for his class is intense. Difficult long readings, doesn't really provide easy notes to understand. To pass you have to really really pay attention to every little detail.
I am literally in love with Tono. He is by far the best professor I have ever had at De Anza. He's SO funny, witty, clever, and I admire how succinct and effortlessly intelligent he is. He makes fun of the fact that he is bald literally everyday, and he swears every couple of minutes. I wish I built a stronger connection with him outside of class.
By so far, he's a very nice person, but his class is very hard! Lots of works, readings, and at the end you seemed learned nothing in this class. I would say go take humanity class with, Sal Breiter, rather than taking philosophy class.
Definitely not an easy A, lots of practice is needed to succeed in this class. Attendance is optional but I wouldn't recommend missing a class because he goes over so much and clears up any doubts. Tono's lectures are very intriguing. I will definitely take another one of his classes, they're a lot of fun if you like a bit of a challenge.
I didnt realize how hard this class would be. You must read and show up to class to pass. I had a low C the whole quarter and the only way I raised it up to an A was by showing up to office hours and asking questions. He is a great professor who taught me A LOT and is very approachable and willing to help. If you need the assistance, just ask him.
Tono is hands down one of the finest educators that I've had the pleasure of learning from at De Anza College. His lectures are fun and interactive, and his attitude and demeanor make the classes pass by quickly. I've taken him twice and would take him again. Tests are tough, but you will have plenty of warning and review help. Take him!
He is the GOAT. I transferred to Berkeley and even with all the brilliant teachers here I still look back at how amazing and brilliant Ton was/is. This dude is the real deal 11/10 should take his class. Looking back, he is legit what inspired me to do well in school and work to get my 2.7 to a 3.7 before transferring. #goat
Tono earns students' respect! He listens to you and care. He lectures with humor and brings lights up the classroom with real life examples and stories. No brainer, even though the class content is the same, I would take his classes again because he personalizes the classes to different groups of students. Time well spent!
He's fun and keeps you thinking, you won't fall asleep in class even in the morning. Reading is often dense and incomprehensible, so he helps explain some of it when you get back. Just don't rely on only his lectures because he will expect deeper understanding.
He is a very good lecturer, fast sometimes, but good. However, the course itself for me was pretty hard. It was fairly easy up until proofs. Propositional proofs and everything after were really hard for me. Make sure to do the homework at this point when it gets hard, make sure to read. Quizmaster is really helpful too.
Wish I studied more for the class. If I wasn't taking so many units that quarter, would've got an A. He's an amazing lecturer, pretty charming, and is willing to help explain concepts during office hours. About 20-30 mins of reading every night, and lectures are creative. Lots of notes to take as well. Definitely would take again!
Toño is a great professor! He keeps lecture interesting with jokes and is willing to explain things thoroughly as many times as it takes. Several straight forward quizzes, a midterm and final. If you show up, listen and as questions, you'll get an easy A.
This is my second class I have taken with Tono. He is an amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students. He did give weekly quizzes, but as long as you did the homework and showed up to class then it was an easy pass.
In order to pass this class you really should be prepared to take notes. His exams were based off the lectures. He's by far one of the best professors I've had at De Anza. Some of the homework readings have a 2-3 question mini quiz he has on Canvas they are helpful on the exams. His attendance isn't mandatory but why would you wanna miss his class
Makes philosophy accessible and is a caring teacher, not the typical philosophy professor.
Amazing philosophy professor with interesting lectures who cares about his students and makes himself very accessible to them. 10/10 recommend
Seriously the best. He's so understanding during summer quarter, he extended the deadline of our first essay AN ENTIRE WEEK. He answers emails right away too and all the quizzes/tests have answers straight from the textbook and/or his powerpoint lectures. For the online class, you just have to type one comment on a discussion each day.
His lectures are very easy to comprehend. He answers emails rapidly. Don't quit before talking to him because he will understand and will help you if you are willing. Be ready to read and share your thoughts and ideas on discussion boards and essays. Keeping up with assignments, readings, and studying time can be an easy A. He is just AWESOME!!
