Anu is AWESOME!! take this class with her.. two 3 page papers u do in a group and a longer one with your group at the end of the sesmter.. 2 tests...real easy.. curves grades. doesnt take attendance... ur an idiot if you dont tkae it with her
The class is boring but she makes it a lot more interesting. Very nice. Projects can be annoying but help your grade. Definitely take with her.
Great teacher...makes the topic interesting...gives you study guide before exam, project seems harder than it really is...take her shes awesome...funny too!
Projects are really annoying the the big one at the end is really hard. The blog project is really cool and she is an awesome person. Always willing to help and she makes everything very clear. IF there is another professor that is easier, take it with them, but if not Anu is great!
This class is kind of lame. You learn some cool stuff, but Anu is kind of all over the place with her grading. My advice is to follow her grading rubrics with great detail. Exams are not easy, so make sure you know your stuff. Double check your work. Overall alright, got a B
Great teacher. Very funny. Class requires some work, but is definately worth taking it. 2 Exams, Blog project, and very helpful Internet Marketing project. Takes attendance, but gives extra credit opportunities and sometimes on exams.
she's definitely a cool teacher, let's you have input on some class decisions. tests are kind of hard only because the information is stale. no quizzes, 1 group presentation, 1 big group project that's fairly easy and 1 individual project that's pretty difficult. overall, i'd recommend her but i'd check out the other professors first.
Anu is the best! She's so funny, super organized, and really nice. Lectures were boring because it was all guest speakers but all you have to do is show up. 6 quizzes, you have to read to do well. Projects are boring and she grades kind of hard but overall she's a great professor.
Anu is the worst professor ever. All of her classes were useless and I would never have attended if it wasn't mandatory. She gives you tons of individual and group projects and then doesn't give you any of the grades back until the semester is over and the grades are due. Overall, this class was useless as was she. Avoid taking her at all costs.
Anu is a nice teacher who is very precise and detailed. Course itself is difficult and the team projects are really hard. Lectures aren't too bad but hopefully the grading curve will help with poor test grades. tough class nice teacher
I had Anu for the large lecture and the discussion section. She is very funny and actually keeps you entertained. Make sure you take notes on the book and keep up with the Wall Street Journal readings. The group projects can be annoying, so pick a group that is in your dorm.
This class is extraordinarily difficult for an intro class. The lectures are absolutely useless and extremely boring, I'm not alone when I say that I slept in most of them. Bailor was a great discussion leader but the grading was ridiculous. Tests are hard, study the terms in each chapter well if you want to do well. Projects are also hard.
She really isn't funny despite her laughing at her own jokes. The class itself is pointless and we learn nothing. I would prefer FYE which would be easier and less of a hit to the GPA. This class is all memorization of terms from the textbook which she doesn't go over. Overall sucks
Worst large lecture leader ever. It sucks that she's pretty much the only option for this class. The tests are impossible, and the lecture is the most pointless waste of my time. Tip to make class a little more entertaining, count how many times she asks "Are we clear"
Biggest waste of time ever. Her tests are impossible, projects are hard and I have learned nothing in this class.
She is a terrible lecture giver. she reads right off the slides and if attendance wasnt mandatory i wouldnt go. she gives these large lectures that have no point because the test is all off the textbook and the wall street journal which u need to subscribe for. The assignments are given with absolutely no guidance and grades suffer
Worst intro class ever. She expects way to much for an intro to business class. She is the only teacher so you can't really help it. The tests are pretty hard. Most of the questions aren't directly from the book so unless you can some how remember everything the tests are hard and the essays are just horrible. Makes you read the WSJ for test essays
Absolutely terrible teacher
Ok class. In the end, the dumb projects and group hw assignments bring up your grade because they are worth more than the test. But, Anu is a horrible lecture giver. She presents everything directly from the textbook and her accent is unbearable. Her tests are VERY hard. Memorizing every word is not enough!! The exam essays are hard too. good luck
This class was horrible. It was an intro class that made many people switch majors! The tests were difficult, the classes boring (and mandatory!), and everything was graded extremely hard. Nothing against the teacher but I learned next to nothing from the lectures and discussion section. The test was 100% from the book.
This class is very hard, especially for an intro class. Lots of group work, so make sure you pick a good group from the beginning. Learned a lot during discussion, nothing in lecture but it is mandatory. Overall good class, but you have to put in a lot of effort and be prepared to work and study late nights with your group.
she has a strong accent. the class is basically all group work which I found annoying too. mostly common sense stuff though. not hard. she is strict though about being on time and staying the whole class. even though it's a lecture hall she gives assigned seats and makes you get dressed up in business clothing which I found unnecessary.
You do need the textbook for this class. To study, read each section of the textbook and know important current events.
Takes feeback from students to adjust classes as times goes on. Big group project, but manageable and applies what youre learning. Tests can be difficult, but easily gives back unfair questions and curves final grades. Interesting discussions and helpful. take anu!
Even though she has a bit of an accent I loved Anu! I was discouraged by some of these comments, but she is definitely the best prof for this class. The tests are tricky, but study the book and the articles and you should be fine. Group projects are graded fairly. She knows what she is talking about and she's got a pretty good sense of humor.
Awesome professor, really knows what she's talking about and she's always looking out for her students' best interests. I would definitely take another class taught by her if I could.
I love Anu! She really loves her subject and she's definitely the best teacher for 110. She's funny and very helpful if you just ask to meet with her. The only bad thing: she gives Wall Street Journal articles for the tests, but a lot of test questions in the article section are not about the articles she assigns. But otherwise, she's great!
Great professor, but teaches a really hard class. She takes the intro level course very seriously and you definitely need to read the textbook if you want to do well. She assigns lots of group work and presentations, so just try to get in a good group of people. Exams are really hard, there's 3 of them: 2 midterms and a final. Work hard, get a B.
Anu is a good professor overall. If you put effort into the class discussion and have a half a mind of business you will do very well. However, 62.5% of the course is based on group work so keep that in mind when picking groups. The assignments are simple, but at times the directions can be very vague. Just try to be professional and you will be ok
Anu is the best teacher I have ever had. She truly loves her job/material and will go to great lengths to ensure the students understand it as well. If you need help she is always there to meet with you. Her class is led by clear and direct power points and her frequent use of video makes the class extremely interesting.
She manages to make interesting material dry and boring. Hard grader, but not hard material. Cute, also.
Anu is my absolute favorite professor so far at Delaware. She has an obvious passion for her job and makes the class so interesting and enjoyable. Although she may not be the easiest option for BUAD301, she definitely will teach you the most. Very fair grader, totally possible to get an A. Highly recommend you take Anu if you get the chance.
At the end of the day she is a good teacher. Loves to bring in real world examples and talk about her personal life, its just a shame she is stuck in a boring topic (marketing). My second time having her and as much as she says to understand the terms with context it is literally a definition test. Read the book and ATTEND CLASS and you'll be good.
VERY Hard grader. She has a ton of real world things to talk about in class, and she loves to waste time with Wall Street Journal articles. It is all well and good until we get to the exam and she has skipped over everything on it! I learned everything on my own. Exams are ENTIRELY vocal! don't bother to read, just know the words :)
In my opinion not a good professor at all. The material covered in class does not match the textbook readings, and the exams are almost 100% textbook vocab-based. She really has a thing for Wall Street Journal articles and loves to waste class time discussing them while they don't always correlate to class material. Unnecessary mandatory course.
A class that could be very useful to business majors is turned into a wasteful class period of useless power points and a collection of online articles that are not helpful. Textbook vocab and really random wall street journal readings are the ONLY thing you are tested on. Paying attention in class is foolish. Exams are not related to class at all.
Anu is the best. She's smart, funny, interesting and most importantly helpful! Yes, her classes are more challenging than some other options but well worth the effort. Truly feel like I learned important knowledge from her class. Always their for her students. Highly recommend for BUAD301 (much more interesting than her BUAD110 class)
Class has NOTHING to do with the test. She also gets off to the Wall Street Journal.
Boring lectures but good professor grades a little tough but a lot of grades are in groups
Anu is awesome. She started a coffee with your Prof program that I would definitely take advantage of. She loves the WSJ and any other news articles you may have come across so be sure to read the articles she sends out because they will not only help your participation grade but also will help you on the test. She's very smart & helpful.
I have taken Anu for 3 classes (110301302) & she is by far one of UD's best professors. You're going to have to put in some work for any class that you take with her but you will learn ALOT. She doesn't waste your time gives little to no hw and exams aren't too bad if you read and look over her slides. Go to her office hours and show you care.
Anu is hilarious, she has no filter. The lectures have nothing to do with the textbook but the are interesting none the less. She puts on ridiculous questions about the WSJ's for the exams. Definitely know your vocab. I would recommend her but make sure you study. Participate!! Anu you were trouble when you walked in. ;)
Probably the best professor during my first semester. Lectures are spot on and extremely relative to the real world. She wants you to succeed and her projects are the baseline for real world scenarios.
Anu is a great teacher! In this course, you definitely get out of it what you put into it. Actually read the textbook and focus on VOCAB and the WSJ readings for tests. She is busy, but will make time for you if you need help. Definitely take advantage of office hours and coffee with anu (it's worth it!)
Anu is hilarious and cares about the "real world" aspect of business. but lectures can get off-track. Post WSJ articles to canvas regularly. She makes you pick random groups that almost all heavy grades are based on - PICK CAREFULLY. Prof. Moffa gives reviews for BUAD exams - GO TO THEM. He hints at which WSJ articles are on the exam.
She is overall a good professor and knows a lot about marketing. The quizzes are pretty much taken from information in the book so it's good to have it with you when taking them. She also let us use textbooks on exams which made it possible to get As without studying at all. She's a tough grader on the group projects.
Course has broad scope. Lectures are a "preview" to what you basically have to teach yourself if you want to pass exams, projects, and assignments. Hilarious, CHALLENGING, tough as nails... But she sharpens you, raises real-world awareness (WSJs) and curiosity. You'll thank her later in life. :)
Get ready to teach yourself everything because Anu won't teach you anything. The only reason to show up is because attendance is mandatory. Her test questions are often incoherent due to bad grammar. She doesn't make and follow rubrics, so her grading on projects is arbitrary and harsh. Material is easy enough to memorize on your own.
Anu expects you to teach yourself and spends class talking about irrelevant WSJ articles. She does not prepare you for any exams or projects. She's also extremely disorganized, constantly canceling meetings and forgetting to post assignments. The only time I actually learned something important was when our TA taught the class once.
Honors: Anu is a fascinating person, but does comply with scheduling, grading rubrics, or the syllabus. Exams are based on textbook readings and WSJ articles, not at all related to in-class articles. She can explain things well if asked, but is easily sidetracked and mainly discusses current events. She grades much harder than Prof. Moffa.
Second time having Anu and she is amazing. She really knows what she's talking about and tries to explain everything by providing real world examples. She really cares about her students, you have to put the effort in but its worth it.
Anu is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is the reason that I am switching to a marketing major. She is hilarious and makes the material actually interesting and fun to learn about. This class definitely requires effort but will not make you crazy. DEFINITELY TAKE WITH HER!!!!
Anu is great! Really funny and has a lot of real world experience that makes her very knowledgeable. Most of her bad reviews are first semester freshman complaining they actually have to do work in college. Not the easiest choice for 110, but if you're interested in marketing she gives you a great foundation for the major in 301.
Anu is the literal best. She's so fair about everything and really, truly, cares about her students. If I put in just a little more work, I would have ended up with an A. But seriously, she's great. She teaches well and also is so nice and understanding.
Do yourself a favor and do not take her BUAD 301 online class. It is ABSURDLY hard for an INTRO course. There are way too many lectures which are too long to watch, and way too much information given for the exams which are only 30 questions, focusing on hard material that makes you think that is not taught. No extra credit and no study guides. Bad
Anu is the best professor that I have ever had at the University of Delaware. I purposefully waited 21 months between taking 301 with her and taking 302 (until after her sabbatical.) She cares about each and every student and if you listen to what she says you will do really well.
Anu was an awesome professor and very willing to help if you came into office hours. However, I took her online BUAD301 class and the exams were very difficult for no reason. Luckily there are a lot of assignments and quizzes to balance out bad exam grades.
She expects a higher level of understanding than most professors. Feel free to ask questions and if it still doesnt make sense she understands. Exams are at the testing center. Quizzes and assignments due regularly. Stay on top of the material and assignments and youre fine
Super unorganized, slides are hard to follow and are not presented in any logical sense of order. There was a ton of information that we were "responsible" for on the exams, making it near impossible to study effectively. If you are not a marketing major but this course is a requirement, do yourself a favor and take it with another professor.
This professor gives an insane amount of reading and theres so much content to learn for each exam. Even tho its a intro to marketing class it certainly doesnt feel like it. Shes clearly very smart but you will have to work a lot at learning the massive amount of concepts and reading everything.
Anu is super funny but honestly my least favorite professor. Definitely a good person but was not clear about grading, super unorganized, tests you on about 500 pages of reading per exam. I wound up with around a C and decided to pass/fail class. If you do the readings, you can definitely achieve an A but tons of work and an overall very tough prof
She is the worst professor I have ever had in my 4 years at Delaware. Her grading is inconsistent with what her rubrics outline, and for a capstone course it is very general about marketing concepts. Haven't been taught anything that was not already addressed at the same level in another course. Avoid her at all costs for any class.
take another professor if you can. You might get a good experience and grades.
had her for intro to marketing asynchronous, I don't think she knows a thing about teaching. gives no direction whatsoever for anything. one time I missed a test, completely my fault, emailed her twice asking what to do, only response I got was "I got the email, I've been busy all day" no help whatsoever. L teacher
Anu is incredible! She was very sweet and supportive throughout my whole entire course. Her course was very well organized with basically a quiz and worksheet every week. She had three exams (with no cumulative final) that she curves. It is a lot of reading and watching lectures, but her teaching style is very engaging.
Terrible. I took this class asynchronous, and there was so much reading, so many lecture videos over an hour long. Not to mention her notes are all out of order, her videos cut short sometimes, and the class is just purely annoying. Worst class I've taken out of my four years.
the exams were so hard and she curves them but it didn't help much. I learned nothing. I hate her teaching style. her lectures are so long, readings she gives us are so unorganized and confusing. I turned everything in& got 100s on all the quizzes and assignments but the last exam (a C) made my grade go down to a B from a 92. takes forever to grade
inconsistent with grades, wont reveal your grades, exams are nothing like the practice tests
She does not teach, and goes only by powerpoint.
Anu was a great professor. She is funny, makes lectures interesting, and gives plenty of real world examples. If you study, her exams are straightforward and easy. We had one assignment per week, and we have multiple attempts so if you try you will get a 100 every time. She is also very lenient and flexible with deadlines. I highly recommend!
Provided so much extra credit and exams and quizzes were very reasonable.
I loved having Anu because she gives some really great examples during lectures in class. Attendance is not mandatory so i skipped probably 5 classes and still did great. She is a very nice person and also funny. Really not a hard class even though the material can be confusing, you can still get an A.
horrible professor the tests are nothing like the lectures so no matter how much you study you won't do well on them. your grade is locked because she doesn't like the way canvas grades so you don't know your grade. she takes attendance so you have to show up to class but the lectures are pointless because they're not like the exams. don't take her
She is a great professor and makes sure all her student's mental health comes first. Participation matters but she has an online option for participation if public speaking makes you nervous. She provides practice exams that are very similar to the real exams. The quiz and topic assignments are designed so that you can also get full credit.
Everything in this class is an easy A besides exams. Make sure to study hard for those. Anu is an amazing person and everyone should have the opportunity to take a class of hers.
Very caring and knowledgeable. Really cares about her students mental health. Classes are very lecture heavy but she took the material from the textbook and combined it with her lectures so we don't have to do any extra reading. Homework assignments are all easy grade boosters. Exams are a little difficult but she does curve them slightly
I would not recommend taking this class online as it is very challenging, take it in person. There is way too much material to digest and you'll be overwhelmed. She kinda treats this class like its the only class you are taking
online buad301 course TAKE A DIFF PROF. this class was soo much work for an async class, the exams were ridiculous. coming from someone who has gotten all A's up until now, this class was unreasonable in my opinion. im sure her in person classes were better, but i regret taking this format, too much busy work and really hard exams
Anu is nice and means well but can come across as blunt and harsh. She gets to know her students and cares about our mental health but can make you feel dumb in class by the comments she makes. Her canvas grading is very confusing and leaves you not knowing where you stand in the class. The tests are a little hard but reasonable. Other work is easy
Anu is very nice and responsive, but she acts like this is the only course you are taking. Exams and assignments are ridiculously hard and unorganized. I am a straight A student and I am hoping for a B in this class. Don't take it if you have other options.
Don't take this ASYC class because the professor offers SO MUCH materials, you have to read and memorize for the exam. Fortunately, this is the only Marketing class I need to take and I would much prefer in-person rather than ASYC from now on.
This is the worst class I've ever taken at UD, and I'm a junior in finance with a 4.0. Get ready to write and memorize 30 pages worth of notes for each exam, and still do bad on them because the exams questions are ridiculous. This feels more like a course that teaches the entirety of marketing rather than an intro class. Avoid at all costs.
This is one of the most painful classes I have taken to date. The lectures drag they are so long and boring and I feel like she barely explains anything. You could study for hours for the exams and still fail. It just basically turns into a statistics class after the first exam. She is very kind and she cares about her students.
Prof. Sivaraman is one of the most caring profs I've ever had. She likes to offer coffee meet-ups to get to know her students and she values mental health. She is very accommodating if you talk to her. Her exams are fairly hard and you will need to study but she gives amazing lectures and you will do well if you pay attention. Very little homework.
As a person, so amazing she cares so deeply for her students she is a wonderful lady. The classes are long and boring but just go and take notes thats what the exams are on. She tells us to do a lot of reading after class, I never did it, but maybe it would have helped my grade
Sweet and cares about her students. Class starts easy but gets harder. Go to every class and pay attentions, take notes. Lectures get boring. Her accent can be harder to understand at times.
Other comments lie. You really just need a brain for this course. She's very intelligent and come across a bit judgy if you don't get it, but she TRULY is there to help. Class has 3 exams, and you WILL learn 4 weeks of just statistics --> so be ready to learn that. Is it a hard course overall .. no. Is it a hard course in the BUSINESS school, yes.
She doesn't allow us to take notes until she says so, which means she only gives you 1 minute to write. She doesn't post the slideshows until either the day after class or not even until after the next class. Impossible to reach outside class. Exams are DIFFICULT and she doesn't do test reviews. She expects you to know a lot coming in to the course
I took and failed this course this semester. She provided an absurd amount of notes for an ansynchrous class and the exams are ridiculous. Took the practice exams and went through all of the quizzes and the exam was completely different. Do not take.
Only complaints are that we can't see our overall grade on Canvas and the notes are a little unorganized—besides that, this was a standard UD summer course. Great professor, knows her stuff, responds fast to emails. I was skeptical going in based on the other ratings; and maybe it's different in-person, but this class was very straight-forward.
This class material isn't that hard but the tests are made to trick you, you can know all the material and still do bad on exams. Worst exams. No matter how hard you study the test will be full of trick questions trying to make you "understand the material more then memorization" or "pushing you to think more".
DO NOT TAKE HER BUAD 302 CLASS. The class is extremely confusing, and most of the time, nobody knows what's going on. It's entirely lectures, but the exams are very difficult and include a lot of content from the textbook that she never covers in class. The final project is based on software we never learned. If you can, steer clear of this course.
Anu herself is a great person and really cares for her students. The class is very difficult for your typical BUAD class, but the content is not impossible to understand. The problem are the exams. The exams are extremely (and unecessarily) hard, and you need to have extensive stat knowledge prior to the course.
Challenging class but she is a great professor who helps
This class was extremely difficult, and the prof did not make it easier. Ironically, a marketing research prof can not word her exam questions in a way that is easy to understand (and her curving is not generous). Did not provide help on the group project when asked and graded it harshly. Take course with another professor. IGNORE GOOD REVIEWS.
