New professor and a new one at Saddleback as well. An excellent teacher with excellent lectures, highly recommended if you are willing to work and willing to learn.

She's a great teacher with a cool personality, but her class is packed with readings and if you don't read you wont pass.

Very laid back class. Doesnt put a lot of pressure on you, and informative. You have 1 debate session and thats around 15% ish of your grade. Its super easy, just put in the work and read the textbook. The pop quizzes are her telling you about a quiz next time the class meets up. Just read the textbook, and youll be fine on exams and quizzes.

Class was pretty average. Pop quizzes for every chapter, big tests for multiple chapters. Gives jeopardy links for study. Lectures were power points, kinda cool / kinda boring depending on the chapter/topic. She's obviously a democrat but is very open minded, which I liked about her. Overall she's a solid choice for a professor IMO.

When it comes to the material, she does an excellent job at making it relevant to current events. She initiates engaging conversations during lecture, which is a plus. So long as you keep up with the readings and take good notes, this class is pretty standard when it comes to college courses and isn't too hard to pass.

The book is super important and you have to read if you want an A, her exams/quizzes are based mainly off the book/somewhat lectures. She'll tell you when you have a quiz. Homework is really easy. Go to class and read and you'll do well, she tries for all her students to get an A. She's nice and doesn't force certain political views on you.

Professor Hijaz is so nice! She gives out lots of random extra credit (ex: showing up to class) and cares a ton about her students. The class is not difficult as long as you do the readings. She is very chill and approachable. The exams are not too hard as long as you review the study guides she gives and jeopardy!

Professor Hijaz is great! Her slideshows were engaging and she encourages her students to participate. There are homework questions assigned for each chapter, as well as quizzes, 2 midterms and the final exam. Test material is taken from her slideshows and the reading. Stay on top of that and you'll be fine.

I really enjoyed professor Hijaz's class. You can tell she really loves teaching and really cares about her students. The only things I didn't like was the group project ( I don't like working with other students). Very easy to get an A. Show up to class, and do the work.

This was my first online class. I liked how professor Hijaz had modules for each week, which made it very clear what HW I had to do each week. Don't fall behind on work and you will do great in this class.

I took professor Hijaz PS1 class in person than covid happened and the class went online. I was worried about going online, but she did a great job!

I just took PS-1 with professor Hijaz online and I really liked how organized her online class was. If you do your readings and assignments on time you will do great.

She was great! She gives 2 chapters to read each week with an assignment and quiz (mix of both chapters), and weekly discussion board. She provides powerpoints with notes (I recommend taking notes off these to do better in the quizzes and assignments). It would be nice if she updated some of her notes to more recent events, but it's not a big deal.

I took it this summer 2020. I was not very motivated and I slacked early on. I was worried about my grade through the middle of the semester. I reached out and she was very nice about me submitting late work. The class is not hard but its easy to slack off. In order to pass you need to submit as many assignments & just read lecture/texts.

I have taken many online class and I really like Professor Hijaz's class. Her modules are very clear and as long as you keep up with the work and don't fall behind you will do great.

Professor Hijaz is excellent. You have to study for this class, but you can get an A if you make an effort. One paper, quizzes and reading assignments are based on the book weekly.

I took Professor Hijazs 8 week class and I enjoyed it so much! The class consists of a DP, a quiz, and writing assignment each week. There is one research paper at the end thats almost like the a class final. As long as you keep up with the work, you will get a good grade. Professor Hijaz has a great personality and super responsive.

I was a little behind in week 1 and Professor Hijaz reach out to me to make sure everything was ok. She encouraged me to keep working hard and I ended up with an A in the class. This professor really cares and the class was GREAT!

Took the 8 week course, consisted of one easy discussion board, assignment, and a quiz per week. The assignment each week was 2-4 questions based on what you learned in the slides/readings. Textbook is online & free. No exams, just a research paper at the end. Gives feedback, is helpful and caring. Just put in effort and you can get an A.

Pretty easy class as long as you do the assignments. A lot of the discussion boards were opinion based so as long as you do it and reply to classmates, that's an easy A. There's also a second assignment each week (not discussion) too. Modules are quick reads and right to the point. Definitely worth taking if you're taking a lot of other classes too

Took this class as a second 8 week class and really enjoyed it. I love that I didn't have to purchase a book and the class was very organized. I hope she will offer other online poli sci classes.

This was my third online class at saddleback and I liked how it was very organized. This class has a hw, quiz and discussion board post each week. As long as you do the reading and work you will do good. Overall enjoyed the class.

I just finished a summer session with Professor Hijaz. I really liked the class and how organized it was. She gives you a to do list each week which is very helpful. Keep up on your assignments and discussion board post and you will do well in the class.

took 8week summer class. week: 2 chapter readings, quiz, discussion board, assignment (answer questions) & essay. simple schedule and easy if you stay on your toes. took 2 other classes with it too such as Eng 1a, ended with an A-. Ended with 89.9 but she was kind to round it up to an A. critique: point awarding system quiz-20 assignment-15

When I say non mandatory, I mean you wont immediately fail out because of it, though it will hurt your grade a lot. Shes a good teacher, but her classes are very difficult. Oh and NEVER fall behind in one of her classes. It snowballs harder with her than anyone else. Good luck if you have her.

I took her 8-week online and thought it was a good class. There were DB's that related to our daily lives, quizzes/homework every week (not that bad though), and one final research paper. The research paper's outline was worth 20% of the final grade (due week 3 out of 8) and the final paper was worth 20% too (due week 6). It was an easy-going class

This is my first ever Political Science class and I couldn't be happier taking it. Professor Hijaz is very understanding and also very in touch with her students. She always checks with us before making decisions to see how we feel and also gives super good feedback on questions or concerns. Also, there are no tests - just a final research paper :)

Probably the best PS teacher. Super caring and easy to follow in class. 3 assignments a week , DP, quiz and answer 2-3 questions. One 5 page paper is required. NO FINAL! Great teacher, if your reading this take her.

free textbook for which she will provide the link. There is a lot of reading and something that you shouldn't leave till the last minute and best to start when she opens the module. Answer the review questions at end of each chap. answers are at the end of the book, questions will be used in quizzes. Start your research paper EARLY, no final!!

I did it online. no video lectures, instead note slides. discussion boards are opinion based and pretty interesting. quiz and short writing assignment every week, but not hard. very easy grader as long as you do the work and follow the instructions.

Loved this class and teacher. She really takes the time to help you do well on the paper. Professor Hijaz met me during office hours twice before the paper was due to make sure I was on the right track. Would definitely take another class with her.

Professor Hijaz is one of the best professors i've ever had I just finished with her US government course - everything was clearly set out on the site, and she really cares about her students. I would definitely tell people to take her.

So grateful to have taken PS-1 with Professor Hijaz. I had a hard time with the research paper and she meet me during office hours to help me go over it. Looking forward to taking her PS-12 class.

Great professor! For PS1H there is one weekly discussion, one weekly assignment, and one weekly quiz every week plus 1 research paper in the semester. It is honestly all very doable and not very hard as it does not take much time and she gives you more than enough time. Also show up to class since participation is a key % of your grade.

I personally like the way she organized the class because there was only 3 things due each week. A discussion post, an assignment, and a quiz. It was pretty doable if you know how to manage the stuff. She is a bit of a tough grader when it comes to the essay she assigns but again as long as you know what you are talking about you should be fine.

I took her 8 week course which included 3 assignments a week which included a db, assignment, and quiz. Workload was definitely manageable. She also has a paper due towards the end of the semester. Professor grades tough on her paper without giving detailed instructions. She also takes a while to grade assignments.

Just finished a 6 week summer class with Dr. Hijaz. Love how organized the class was. Each week I had to submit a discussion post, assignment, and complete a quiz. Great class and teacher overall.

Overall decent class, there is an assignment, discussion, and quiz weekly. No final, just a research paper at the end. It can take her weeks to grade things and she restricts student access to the course after it has ended which is annoying because you can't check your grades that she has yet to submit. I think I will end with a B though.

Professor Hijaz was great. Class consisted of 1 writing assignment, 1 discussion board, and 1 quiz each week. The midterm was an outline for a research paper, and the final was a 4-5 page research paper. If you're lazy and like to procrastinate, like me, it could be challenging. Turn everything in on time and do all the DBs and you'll do great.

She was so kind hearted and truly cared for each student. Really smart and funny I loved her personality.

I enjoyed taking Prof. Hijaz' 6 week course this summer. I missed a due date for a quiz and she took the time to open up it up so I could take it. She truly cares about her students and really does want them to succeed beyond her course.Her modules are well thought out and planned along with her grading/comments. Professor Hijazi is an extremely supportive and caring professor. She knows so much and she truly cares about us learning and enjoying the content. As an honors class, the work for this course was very straightforward. The class is organized and every week is set up the same for assignments, so it is always clear what's due and when.

Professor Hijaz was an organized and fair professor. Her class structure was clear and made accessible on the first day. I took an 8-week course and the workload for each week is more than manageable. The research paper is time-consuming but is nothing crazy. The research paper is the only big assignment/final for the class. Straightforward class.

Prof is sweet and v casual in class. Grading scale is tough but tbh expected for honors. End of semester was bumpy...she told the class she was reporting and putting zeros into grades of ai users. 8 modules, ~1 discussion, ~1 assignment, ~1 quiz. Discussions were 100 words min, 2 replies, simple. Assignments were based on chapters, were manageable. Quizzes were ~10 questions. There is a research project, (for us) on North Korea or China. 5 pages and 1 page works cited. Gave us enough time, but is a late grader.

So grateful for professor Hijaz. I have taken two classes with professor Hijaz. I learned so much in the class and professor Hijaz helped me with presenting at the research conference at IVC. She goes out of her way to help her students. Would highly recommend her class.

I took this course as an 8 week course and it was a walk in the park. Everything is very easy and laid out for you, homework each week took me no more than an hour or two. Theres one project outline and poster that are very easy and there is no final. This is probably one of the best 8 week classes to take I 100% recommend this professor.

i absolutely loved her. she was so passionate about what she teaches and it made the class noticeably more enjoyable. she was very easy to talk to and gave good advice and navigation through assignments. the workload was very light and manageable as well.

I took Humanities honors class with Professor Hijaz and Professor Billingsley. this was one of the best classes I have ever took at Saddleback. The course material was so interesting and we had really cool discussions in class. You have to come to class ready to participate. Looking forward to taking the other honors class this upcoming fall.

I loved this class. Based on real world topics, super interesting. Easy A but I procrastinated a week, professor is fair and gives the best feedback. I was never bored in this class. The only thing that was time consuming was the research poster at end of course, get ahead. Professor 9/10!! Grades quick & is highly organized.

She is a spectacular professor in my opinion is always attentive to your concerns, is very kind, and makes you as a student enjoy your learning process. Her messages are also always very professional and kind. Although my course was online, I can imagine the kindness and respect with which he writes and the great commitment she has to teaching.

Professor Hijaz creates an amazing class environment. Her lectures expand on the readings in unique ways that give you a lot to think about before doing the weekly written assignment(its short and simple). The most difficult part of the class if by-far the literature review, however, you are given ample time to complete it.

Took two of Professor Hijaz's honors classes (PS-1 and Honors 12H). She is very carrying, kind and supportive. If she offered another class I would take it.

Honestly a really good and easy professor. Seemed super sweet and test and discussions were not bad at all.

Good teacher and good class. The class was created in a way that is simple and clear to complete assignments. There is a big project at the end of the class but for being a 8 week course, it was not overwhelming.

Great experience. This class discusses topics from current day political experiences which made it easy and fun. There is a big project worth 100 points. Overall the class was easy and as long as you actually try, you will probably get an A

Professor Hijaz teaches her course in a very professional/objective way while still making the class interesting. The class wasn't difficult: weekly discussions/an assignment/and quizzes due, but they're easy and pad your grade. If you participate, ask questions, and carve out time for your literature review/final presentation, you'll get an A.

Professor Hijaz is honestly one of the best professors I've had. She's super understanding, really cares about her students, and actually wants you to learn, not just stress about grades. Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow, and she's always approachable if you have questions. Also not a hard class! would highly recommend

She's nice, I can't say much but all I can tell you is that you only have an assignment or discussion along with one quiz per week (I took her first 8 week). And there's no final but there is a research project.
