She is young one, but expects alot. Her tests are often times hard. All of her tests include essay questions, if your looking for an easy teacher, don't pick her

She is the best psych prof I have yet to encounter. She has a genuine care for her students and if you pay attention and do the assignments you should get at least a B.

awesome
She's really excited about what she's teaching, and she's also quite a character! Class was fun and interesting...assignments were work but not all that hard. Expect reading.

April is awesome. I've had her for 3 classes now. Her classes aren't blowoff classes, but they are really interesting and she is so fun!
Very intelligent teacher. I enjoyed her class a lot. Tests are hard, but she makes the class really interesting.
most interesting class i've ever taken- she really knows how to apply lessons.....tests, though, are pretty difficult- you need to know a lot from the chapter outlines to do well....overall though, excellent teacher who loves her work.....
Great professor! Very interesting to listen to. Always has class, very organized, takes things seriously.
VERY HELPFUL!
April is a great teacher. She does a great job at teaching this class. This class is no cake walk but she makes it clear by the way she teaches and she is there to help with anything that you could possibly want.
If you aren't good at Stats... which most of us aren't, then April is the professor to take. She outlines everything that you need to get your stats done right and she is always willing to help you if you stop by her office with questions. A+
April can be a rather difficult professor, but it is completely worth every stressful minute in the end. She expects a lot from her students...but she is also willing to give a lot and help in any way possible.
very hard professor....take if you want to fail a class....
Her exams are very hard because of the way she words things & they're all multiple choice. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and her TA's offer a good study session. Lectures seem to carry on but she teaches interesting topics. I think I got a B in her class.
Good teacher. Her kids are cute too. Classroom provides peaceful sleeping environment.
She is a professor who expects her students to work extremely hard at everything they do in her classes, but always is willing to lend a helping hand if there is confusion or frustration. She also is very descriptive about all of the topics lectured in class so it's almost impossible to simply not understand things.
Very hard teacher. Tests are extremely hard, and they are worded to confuse you. I've heard that other professors are a lot easier, only take it you must. You might regret it in the end!
I loved her. She was an amazing professor! She makes topics easy to understand and presents them in an easy way to take notes to study. My best professor so far!!!
April is a GREAT prof. Very organized. Lectures through powerpoint, very clear on material. Exams are difficult, but if you keep up with your reading and study you'll do fine.
Very good professor, if you are good at taking tests. Testing is of great emphasis in April's class.
I took April for research methods and she was very unorganized and talk in circles. The class was really worthless to me in the end and she was just a waste of time to talk to.
april kicks ass

April is a great professor. Her exams are hard but if you study you will do well. I would suggest to take her, she is a lot of fun.. and I plan to take her winterim and personality class :)
April is very nice and extremely helpful. The course can be challenging and demanding. Study hard and work hard; you'll do fine. April teaches it well.
Not a very good teacher. She taught PSYC class with Dr. J and I really wished it was only Dr. J teaching. Come to tests and on April's part I did poorly on and Dr. J's I did great on.
April, not Ms. Bleske-Rechek or whatever, is a great teacher engaging and very kind. She makes psych interesting and studies sexual relations. She's a stunningly beautiful woman too, married with kids. She brings in healthy vegetarian friendly treats at finals.
I thought the class was interesting, but pretty much the only points you get the whole class is with the four tests. The tests were not super easy and I ended up with a C in the class. I think April did well in class, I was just always confused by her tests.
This was a really interesting class. Hard tests. Papers were easier to get a better grade on. Very nice, helpful lady who really cares about her students.
It was a very challenging class. I enjoyed April as an instructor very much. Helped me to think more emperically.
April is a really good professor. She is willing to help you with anything. She is tougher, but actually makes you learn.
Extremely hard class in general, but April is a phenomenal professor. She cares about her students and wants them to do well. She's so smart and is always able to answer any questions and is always available for help! This class is tough, but if you have to take it, take it with April!
More than likely you would be taking this class for your major or minor so it helps to just suck it up and be glad to have the opportunity to take it with April!! She's nothing but great even though she expects a lot from you. Good luck to all!
April is a phenomenal professor! She expects a lot from her students and this class is a lot of work but April makes it do-able. She is the sweetest woman who is always willing to help her students no matter what. I loved her! Take her for research methods if you can.
April is a great professor. Research methods can be intimidating, but April really wants her students to do well. You learn a lot in this class and hard work pays off! Final project is very rewarding. She does weekly quizzes, instead of exams and it is very helpful!!
Great professor, she cares about her students and is passionate about what she teaches. Gets to know her students on a personal level and feels more like a friend than a teacher. Highly recommended
Great teacher! Class is alot of work but if you keep up and do what is expected you will breeze through this class with a good grade.
April is really great and if you are required to take P271 you should take it with her. The class is difficult no matter what professor you have, but April is very helpful & willing to take the time to make sure you understand the material. Attendance is a must and you need to read the text book to do well on the quizzes and keep up with the class.
April is so interested in the subject, that she makes you just as excited about the topic. She is especially good at finding ways to make the material relevant for the students. Thus far I would have to say she is the best professor I have had.
April is a very interesting teacher to listen to and she is very passionate about what she teaches. She expects you to read the textbook and look over your notes everyday. I am a pretty good test taker but her tests are very hard and i am struggling to get good grades on them.
April is established and very successful in the field of evolutionary psychology. She is passionate and excited about what she teaches. She expects students to do their part. She gives great feedback but can be a little blunt at times. Just know it's not you, it's just her way of delivering information. I would take class from her again!
Like this class. She's a good teacher and is energetic.
she's ok
hard grader. really specific on tests
April is my favorite professor but she's not easy. She expects a lot out of her students and will make them work hard to receive a good grade. I LOVED this class, even though it was rather difficult. If you study hard and know the articles and review sheets you will do well.
Before entering this class I was very nervous because I was told it was going to be difficult. However, the class was not hard at all. As long as you listen in class and complete the reading prior to class you will be fine. April is there to help and has no problem helping when needed. Overall, I enjoyed this class!
One of my favorites! Although her quizzes referenced the book 95% of the time, during lecture she connected the material personally and made it easy to understand(therefore I recommend going to class). Very easy to talk to as well!
April is a very nice person, however when it comes time to actually learning the material she tends to refer ideas to things that people would not want to hear about. Her quizzes are multiple but can be tricky by wording, and she tends to have lots of examples for questions where you match the term to an example which can be annoying.
Nice person, but don't like her as a professor! Quizzes can be confusing in the way they are written and assignments are given once a week so if you don't do very good on a quiz there isn't much the assignment can bring up (points wise.) Relates psych topics to things that one would not want to hear about!! Don't take unless you have to!
Nice person but not a very good professor! Quizzes are confusing in the way they are written and only gives assignments once a week. Assignments seem really easy but there is always one question that is tricky. I wouldn't take if you don't have to, take someone else!!!
Nice person, not very good professor! Likes to talk about sex a lot and always finds a way to relate psych topics to that, which makes class really uncomfortable at times. Her quizzes are sometimes confusing and she only gives assignments once a week. If I had known that she teaches this way I would have never signed up to take the class with her.
Refers to book for quizzes, there have been times that on the quiz we didn't talk about something (although I remember seeing it in the book) I thought that we might not have to know it since with didn't even mention the topic in class but ended up being on the quiz! Don't recommend!
April is amazing. I learned so much more about psychology in my capstone class than I have in all of my other psyc classes combined. It is interesting that all of the negative ratings that she has received have been from students in her 100 level psyc class...Sorry, but psyc isn't always easy. You have to be willing to put forth the effort.
April is not only an amazing teacher, but also a great person to talk to as well. She makes material understandable and relatable. Lectures are on topic and she is incredibly organized. She also adds a level of challenge to a class that is great because honestly, it can force some of the lazier psych majors out of the field.
April is a great professor, but a little intense. She has strong opinions and isn't afraid to show them, which can be a little off-putting. I learned a lot in this class and I think that April did a spectacular job teaching the material.
Dr. Bleske-Rechek is a very tough professor. Very tough. With that said, however, she is a great professor. You learn in her classes. She cares about students and cares about our learning. There is a lot of out of class work, but it makes class time worthwhile when you do that work. I highly recommend Dr. B-R.
Pay attention in class, review power point, and readskim chapters before test and you'll do just fine.
I absolutely loved this class. April made it so interesting. You do have to keep up with the readings to really do well, though. There are no tests, just 40 point quizzes after each section. Highly recommend.
April is a great teacher. However, she quizzes every single class. You have to usually read two (2) 15-20 page research articles that can be very confusing and be able to recall this information daily. She even goes as far as having you read two 20 page articles and quizzes you on distinct details on a Monday! April, we have other classes!
April is incredible. She is knowledgeable and extremely passionate about this course. She is extremely clear in expectations and has the entire semester laid out the first day of class. Hardest class of the Psych major. Get ready to read and study. But, as long as you do all the work and come to class, and study, you will get an A. Fantastic woman!
I also had April for Psyc271 Research Methods and loved her teaching style so much I wanted to take her again. She's passionate about research and explains things in a way that almost anyone can understand. She's very down to earth yet keeps high standards for her students. There's a lot of reading, but she gives worksheets as reading guides.
April was one of the few teachers at UWEC that I can truly respect. The class is very tough and she comes across a little strong at first but once you get to know her she is super smart and helpful. As a non-trad student she is the only teacher who remembers me and has reached out to me and offered help. Take the class seriously and expect to work.
April is an awesome professor. I have had her for several courses. She expects a lot from students but it isn't unmanageable. She gives quizzes instead of huge exams, the readings are pretty mandatory if you want to do well but they are usually pretty interesting and the reading guides help you through it. I would 100% recommend taking this prof.
One of the best professors I've had in my undergraduate career. I had her for 271, 401, and 372. She teaches with passion, caring, and you can tell she has strict regard for rigorous science. Surprised by the negative 100 reviews, perhaps she's not the best for intro, but if you're a major/minor take her for upper lvls - you wont regret it!
April was awesome, she is passionate and has high standards for her students. I can see where those who take her for psych 100 and aren't majoring in psychology see her as too intense, but she is knowledgeable, approachable, and gives great feedback.
She's very intelligent. Likes to cold call A LOT which can make it intimidating for someone like me. She's gotten upset at the class sometimes, especially when in the computer lab for research methods.
April is such an awesome professor! She is so respectful and really cares about all her students! She knows that some students may be more shy than others, so although she encourages participation from everyone, she does not force it. Such an inspirational class with such good books!
This was one of my all-time favorite classes. April wanted to get to know us and did a great job at keeping us engaged with the material. She answers emails and never makes you feel like you're taking up her time. Definitely one of the best professors on campus.
April really cares about long term retention in her students so while the work she gives out may seem tedious and time consuming at the time, she is really helping you out in the long run. Her quizzes/exams are very related to readings and lecture so there are no surprises or trick questions. She is a wonderful professor and I would take her again!
She brought cookies!!!
April is the best prof i have had. She is a brilliant person, and more importantly has the ability to transfer the knowledge she gained to her students. I came in with a poor knowledge of statistics, and learned more in syllabus week than in a semester of stats. She is kind and cares deeply about her students. she makes me want to be a professor:)
This was a difficult class, but required for my major. She really knows the topic and provides lots of information to understand it. Weekly quizzes and is into the subject so makes the early class enjoyable. Easily the best professor I've ever had. I dont think attendance was mandatory but missing class isn't a good idea because she goes over alot.
April is such a smart woman and actually knows how to facilitate a discussion. Each class you have to have read an article that she assigned and then we are tested with either a quiz or some sort of reflection. There are so many in-class assignments, so if you do poorly on a few, it really doesn't affect your grade too much. I really love her!
April is by far my favorite prof. at UWEC. This course is tough but she definitely wants you to do well! Do the readings and participate in class and go talk to her because she is SO helpful!
April has been one of the best professors I have taken here at UWEC. She is so knowledgeable about what she is teaching and super passionate about the material as well. Discussions in lectures were engaging and fun. I wish she could teach all my classes honestly. She has high expectations for her students, but they really push you to succeed.
April is an amazing professor. She gives out a lot of homework, but it's manageable and the work helps you understand concepts. Her course and lectures are very structured, and it's one of the classes where people are actually enthusiastic about participating. The research project seems like a big task but she helps you and it was actually fun!
April is a great professor who is really passionate about psychology. Go to class or you'll miss out on important information and read the chapters before or right after class or you'll be totally lost.
This class with any professor is a lot of work, but with April it's doable and a learning experience. April really cares about her student's success and constantly involves us in her lectures to make sure we are on the same page. There is a quiz almost every week, but they are easy, reading analysis', and a research project at the end.
April is the best! She always gave great lectures and made sure we used examples and ideas that we enjoyed and were interested in. She is very accessible and is more than willing to take extra time out of class to help.
April is by FAR one of my favorite professors here at Eau Claire! She expects a lot from you, but also wants you to do well as she truly cares about her students. Stay on top of the readings/homework and speak up when you need help, and you will do just fine!
I enjoyed April, until she asks for your opinion. Then you are criticized if it goes against what she is saying. She claims she's a scientist who believes in questioning everything, but becomes extremely defensive and grades you down if your views aren't in line with hers.
I was dreading taking Research Methods, but I ended up loving it because of April! She is extremely organized and structures the class in a way that you actually retain the material. She puts so much time and effort into her lectures, grading, and outside projects. Plus, like many other Psych profs, she memorizes everyone's names.
Tough grader! Only give a limit of time for you to do quiz and all the questions are long and hard! Wrong means wrong, she wouldnt give you marks. Everyday have homework and her homework is hard ! Speak too fast and not clear.
she gives LOTS of homework, I understand that she wants us to practice more, but she only gives limited time too complete it. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO FINISH ON TIME? Secondly, she speaks to fast and I couldn't catch up. Thirdly, she is a harsh grader, and everytime the quiz is done, she never give answer AND HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO KNOW THE RIGHT ANSWERS?
Absolutely nit-picky about everything when you turn it in. She grades really hard with confusing feedback. Will never take one of her classes again.
April is one of the best professors Ive taken! She gives great feedback on all of the assignments and truly cares about her students. She really knows what she is talking about and is easily accessible outside of class.
PLEASE TAKE APRIL!! There are bad reviews because people don't want to work for the grade, that is it. This class is so interesting, I was very intimidated coming in because I had a C in Stats but I am getting an A in this class! She will not let you fall behind! April is very knowledgeable and you will walk away each class feeling accomplished.
PLEASE TAKE THIS CLASS WITH APRIL!!! She is very willing to work with you and makes her lectures interesting and worth coming to class for. Going to class everyday is important so you know everything that is going on. She is such a caring and fun professor to work with. I highly recommend! She made 271 easy to understand for me!!
I taken this class my first semester when I transferred and she told me I was slow and the research project I would be doing alone and get points marked off because I was going to slow and the other students were ahead of me and I would get points marked off because I was doing a group project alone.
I highly recommend taking a class with April! I enjoyed this class with her because she really is a great professor! If you come to class and give it your all, you will do just fine. April cares about each student and makes it a priority to learn every students name and is always there to help if need be. I enjoyed this class and learned a lot!!
April is an AMAZING professor, but she makes you work for it. You have to do the required readings, but the quizzes on the readings weren't hard as long as you did the readings. You will learn so much from her. She's also just a really fun person to learn from.
I have taken several classes with April and she never disappoints. This class is really interesting, and I would recommend to anyone. It was a quick summer course, with article analyses and textbook-related assignments due everyday. A lot of work, but super manageable and all of it is engaging and good stuff.
This is my second class with April, and she is my favorite professor I've had. She expects a lot from you, but she is clear about what you need to do. As long as you show up to class, do the readings, and do your homework assignment passing will be easy. You will learn SO much from her.
Hands down worst professor for an online course
I would not recommend taking this course asynchronous if you did not get a B or higher in statistics. April has an aggressive grading structure where a 70% is considered a D. If you reach out, she will help you. If you think you can miss assignments & not apply yourself FULLY to this class you WILL fail it.
She is amazing it work with! I learned so much from her and she has by far been one of my favorite professors to work with!
Not accommodating at all. She played favorites with a lot of students. Gave homework every time in class. Overall just not very welcoming
She definitely seemed intimidating the first few classes. She is intense but she is awesome and I was pushed to learn. You will get homework every single class that's due the next time, but it's not usually super long. As the semester goes on she warms up. She keeps us all engaged and I would recommend her.
Over all a good professor but I can't entirely agree with her grading. Your quiz scores make up for over half of your grade even though you spend a whole month working on a research project. There is homework every day, it is due the next day, and it is all on paper.
Amazing!!! Take 491! You read 5 books over the course of the semester and they're actually interesting. Daily reading quiz but if you read you'll get 100%. Discussion based course so all you do is read and talk about it, so fun, so easy, take this class, easiest 3 credits you'll ever get and you'll actually learn!!!
April is up-beat and enthusiastic about her work which makes it so enjoyable! The books we read were really interesting and she kept us engaged each class period which many discussion questions. However, she's a stickler with attendence and missing four class periods while on vacation brought me down a letter grade.
April was literally amazing I really enjoyed her. She was so nice and caring and wanted to get to know her students. We did have to read 5 books in a semester, so I spent a lot of time reading in my free time. The books were pretty good there was only I didn't particularly like. She is amazing would 100% recommend.
Psych271 is a "weed-out" class, it is meant to be hard. But, April is the BEST prof offered for this class. There were long weekly quizzes (online quizzes) but they weren't too hard. All you need to do is show up to class and study for each quiz. You'll be fine in this class if you take it with April. She also changed the class to have NO homework.
She really cares about her students success and wants them to learn. She is pretty strict in a tough love kind of way but if you pay attention and ask questions, she makes the course super manageable. I was nervous going into it, but she is always willing to help and loves interacting with the students. I will 100% take her courses in the future.
April is such a great professor, definitely take her for 271 if you get the chance. The class is fairly straightforward and easy if you pay attention to lectures. She is strict about attendance but showing up to class is definitely the best way to succeed in this course.
Between her and Jarrod, take her. Take April. Go.
April is an amazing professor, I recommend taking this class if you can! The books she picks out cover a wide variety of perspectives. It's pretty much a book club with quizzes and a lot of discussion so it was pretty easy, especially if you like reading! April always came to class prepared and did a good job guiding discussions. Take this class!!!
Overall, I really liked April. She is very knowledgeable and her passion makes the class really interesting. She sometimes has unreasonable expectations for deadlines or what we should understand fully by a certain time. I'd recommend her overall, just don't skip and do the readings.
I love April. Very well structured course. Super interesting material for an area of psych you don't learn about too much. I genuinely wanted to go to class and learn. Reading and questions about it due every class period but not too difficult. Quizzes were challenging at times because very conceptual but also not the worst. Great course.
April is an amazing professor! She made this class so easy compared to Jarrod. She taught the material in a way that actually makes you learn. you can tell she cares a lot about her students and their performance in the class. She has high expectations, but always gives you everything you need to meet those expectations.
Psych 271 was surprisingly my favorite class during the fall semester and it was all due to how amazing of a professor April is! Her lectures are so engaging and easy to follow that it's hard not to pay attention in class. Even though we met up for both lecture and lab all five days of the week, there was never one day where I didn't want to come.
I love April so much if you have the chance to take her for any class, do it!! She made the psych capstone so fun and interesting. You do have to read for every class and do a little quiz on it but never too bad. She also really guides you through the final project and she is always available to help you out, very easy to talk to!
April is the best professor I have ever had. She makes this class easy with clear instructions, straightforward quizzes, and she really makes her expectations clear on the research project. This is a hard class, but April is extremely helpful and always passionate about what she teaches as well as helping her students.
Statistical Analysis and Reasoning was a tough class but I'm glad I took it. April assigns a lot of articles to read and answer questions about, and there's textbook readings, so it's not easy. But she always takes time to go over questions in class and make sure people understand. This class helped me learn SPSS. Would recommend for psych majors!
I took PSYC271 with April before. Exceptionally well-structured course. Two weekly readings set to be due before the beggining of class time (at 2pm on Tues & Thurs). Weekly quizes every Firday. Final reflection paper. IDBG is quite dense, but April is MASTERFUL at conveying its concepts in a palatable, easy-to-parse way. 10/10.
April is a very knowledgeable professor and has high expectations of her students. This course is content heavy, and there are two weekly homework readings that are time consuming and often very difficult. Attendance is graded by 10pts, per class, if you miss a class, its essentially half a letter grade. DO NOT MISS CLASS. Exams are easy!
Psych 271 with April is a rewarding but challenging course. Her engaging lectures and helpful guidance make it manageable with consistent effort. Using unstuckstudy alongside the textbook helped me ace the quizzes.
I loved this professor and her class. I think that she is very nice and very caring towards her students. Be aware that there is a quiz every week and an assignment per every class.
I LOVED capstone with April. Yes, she assigns reading for every class and yes you're quizzed. However, they were very easy if you did the reading. Some readings were short, some were long but it was very easy. I loved that every week we had a small assignment for our capstone. Because she did that, completing the capstone was actually very easy.
Best teacher to take for PSYC 271. She deeply cares for each student's performance. The last month of class was focused on the research project, which you worked on with a partner. However, the whole class has the same topic, so essentially, the 'big ideas' of the paper will be worked on by everyone. I enjoyed this class, which I didn't expect to.
I loved April! She is so passionate about teaching and explains things that are confusing multiple times to help us remember and understand. Psyc 271 was extremely difficult, but she does a great job breaking things down and having A LOT of practice with it. She is a little intimidating, but still such a nice person. I also took Psych 340 - amazing
