Was skeptical at first since she wasnt on here when I signed up... but shes awesome! so nice and willing to help you. she has quizzes for each section, but all except one have been take home. overall....a very good teacher, nice person, take her if you can!
I am a terrible, terrible math student. I have never made good grades. But this teacher is amazing! I make As on every test. She is very very sweet, very smart, and ALWAYS answers your emails and questions. I wish she could be my math teacher forever. HIGHLY recommend!!
absolutely amazing teacher! I had her for Math 130. She is so passionate about making sure students succeed! I wish I could have her for Calculus too. She is the best Math teacher I've ever had. Everything she explains is chrystal clear, and if you don't understanding anything, she is very prompt with her emails. You're so lucky if you have her!
The best math teacher I've had at UT so far. She did a good job teaching the material and it seemed like she cared if students actually learned. Solid teacher. I would recommend her.
Very helpful, gives guided notes every section. Go to class or you'll fall behind, the only times I felt confused was after I missed class. Extremely helpful and willing to meet up if you're lost. Tests are fair and easy. If you hate/struggle with math, I recommend.
She's really nice and a pretty good teacher.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had, make sure you go to class or it can become confusing. She is great with meeting with you if you get behind and she has made the class wonderful to take!
Mrs. C is THE best math teacher i've ever had. She wants you to understand so she is very willing to help you outside of class. I hated math but put in effort in office hours and test corrections and she awarded me tremendously. She is super cool, nice, and doesn't make you feel stupid. DEFINITELY take her for math classes !!!
A very understanding teacher and truly wants her students to learn. I had anxiety with math in high school, but in her class I did not have any. She is a one of the best math teachers I have ever had and I highly suggest her to anyone, especially if you have struggled with math. She never makes students feel stupid for not understanding.TAKE HER!:)
Excellent teacher! Extremely helpful! Best math teacher I've ever had. Take her if you can!
I love Mrs. Conner! Math 115 seemed like a foreign language to me but Mrs. Conner was there every step of the way if I needed help. A good portion of the grade is from WebAssign (easy) I did struggle with the tests at first but going to office hours helped tremendously. She's very sweet and wants all of her students to learn. I highly recommend her
I loved Mrs. Conner!!!! She was the best Math teacher I have ever had, she is so helpful and will take the time to help you understand everything if you go to her office hours. She helped me go from having a F to a B+ by the end of the year. Definitely take her
Excellent instructor and extremely attractive.
Simply an amazing professor! Really wants you to succeed and wants to show you how everything relates to real life!
Very helpful if your really trying even wite online hw
She's a great teacher and I learned a lot. I struggled at first, but all I had to do was ask for help and she worked through a problem with me and made everything clear. Ask questions and pay attention and you'll do fine. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
She is very helpful! Very accomodating and will meet you before class to help with questions. Fair grader, shows you where you went wrong on tests. Organized teacher. Loves calculus! Pay attention in class and print the notes. Never did the extra homework and still made good test scores and overall score. never had calc. in high school or college
She is a very thorough and clearly understood lecturer. She has excellent notes that really help you understand the material and she is always willing to give individual help.
This class was definitely a good choice. Print out the notes, go to class, fill out the notes, do the WebAssigns, do the problems until you understand the concepts, then take the exams. I guarantee a B. Mrs. C is a really good professor and she will work with you if you need help.
Mrs. Conner is a great person and one of the best math teachers of all time! I am not a very good math student but after her working with me in her office the calculus seemed to come easier to me! Take Mrs. Conner a great person and I promise you will do good in her class if you attend class regularly!
While she is a nice person, she explains things very slowly. I get bored in her class, it is as if she is explaining to middle schoolers. She also counts off points if you don't show every single little step to how you got an answer. If you get the answer right, she still takes off points. Cool.
Mrs. Conner is my favorite professor! She is so helpful and truly cares if you understand the material. She is always welcoming during office hours so be sure to seek her help if struggling. Her understanding and knowledge in mathematics is extensive. She is one of UT's best professors. Everyone should take her courses!
While I'm not a fan of how picky she is about notation, she is a great teacher. She is always very thorough in her examples and is just an all around nice person. Take her if you get the chance.
Awesome teacher! If you have to take math 115 take Mrs. Connor. Teaches material very well and in a way its easy to understand. If you do your homework and go to class its an easy A. TAKE HER!
Mrs. Conner is very nice. She's kind of picky about notation, but her class is very easy. Online homework is extremely easy. It even gives you step by step on how to do the problem. She rarely gives in class assignments and doesn't care if you play on your phone or laptop the entire class. I definitely recommend her.
I cannot emphasize enough that this women is the BEST teacher at the University of Tennessee. She explains things so well and if you do not understand the lecture, go to her office hours. She is SO helpful. She is one of the nicest people. Do not buy the textbook but you will need to purchase the online webAssign stuff. You can make an A with her.
Great teacher! I made a D in the same class with Sucanek (sp?), and had pretty much lost all hope that I would ever survive calculus. Retook with Conner and got a 98. You do have to work, but she just has a great way of explaining things.
Super teacher. Tries to be available as much as possible for help. Gives great examples that help with homework. Very enthusiastic about the subject. Does give some quizzes, but they're just for one point a piece. Also gives some group worksheets to do outside of the classroom. Gives study guides for tests and final.
She's way too easy. I was surprised because her notes are practically exactly the way the book is and during class she is always going over what the symbols and formulas mean. She is helpful and attentive to students' needs and is extremely nice.
Fantastic teacher. I am horrible at math and had already failed calculus before, and I actually understood it with Mrs. C. Always available for help, and is very clear in her explanations. I would take her for every math course if I could!
Mrs.C is probably one of the best teachers I have had so far at UT. She is genuinely friendly and caring towards her students. Her note outlines are crystal clear and the problems you do are so similar to the test ?s there is no reason not to make an A. No textbook is needed. A lot of online hw but is a great study aid. TAKE HER:)
amazing teacher. would take again
I read the reviews on here thinking Mrs. Conner would be great because I am not good at math. I'm in her class now and it's terrible. Yes, she VERY nice and she knows what she's talking about. If you're not good at math don't take her. She goes through the material WAY too fast and doesn't explain everything. Her tests are nothing like class.
She is the nicest professor I've had here and I'm a senior (so that's a lot). She truly helped me. I VERY much recommend office hours, it literally saved my grade. I'm not a math person. I did poorly on the first two exams, but then went to office hours and made a 96 on the final. She truly helps you! I wish I could have her for all my math courses
Take her. She is nice, helpful, and has clear lecture. Online homework with explain video of similar problem, you can try and submit your answer till you get the right one and the right one is the only one get credit not wrong one. Post lecture with keys online. Review lecture and you do fine in test since lecture filled with practical problems
April's notes are really helpful. She fills them out as you do, so if you are a visual learner... Take her. Also don't skip class. She does clicker questions and she does post filled out notes but they are confusing with out explanation. She is a tough tester, but she stresses her office hours to assist you in any way and is very helpful.
She is the best math teacher I've ever had. TAKE HER. She will help you truly understand Calculus! She is very helpful both in and outside of class. Always go to class in order to learn the material and get clicker points! Mrs. C wants her students to do well and will provide you with all the help you need!
Mrs. Conner was great!! I took Calculus last semester with Chelsea McAmis and failed the class. This semester with Mrs. Conner I made a B+! She is super clear, helpful, and really sweet. Attend class for clarity and clicker points, expect a few quizzes and graded worksheets. Homework isn't too bad. Tests aren't bad at all. Would take again.
I was nervous to take a calculus class but Ms. Conner was a great teacher. You definitely have to put forth some effort and attend class but overall the class isn't difficult.
Posts notes online for you to print out and fill out as she lectures, then posts filled out lectures after class. Super organized and knows what she's talking about. Great attitude, very helpful. Go to class because clicker questions count for attendance (they're really helpful though). Pay attention and study and you can do very well.
I don't even know where to start. Mrs. Conner is the best Calculus teacher at UTK. PLEASE take her. Most of her quizzes are take home, homework is on webassign, and she gives study guides for exams. Participation is not mandatory but she gives clicker points.. so don't skip classes. I absolutely loved her class and I would take over and over again.
I loved taking Ms. Conner! She is very helpful and all of her lectures are very clear. I hardly had to ask any questions, and I thought the material was pretty easy. I would take her again if I could!!!!
Conner was an amazing math teacher. She had notes with blanks that follow along with her lectures which help a ton. Web Assign and clickers are worth a good amount. Most quizzes are take home. She is very helpful and wants you to succeed.
Mrs. Conner is the best math teacher I've had. Granted, I took calculus in high school, so I know that helped, but we still covered new material that I had never seen. She gives handouts for all of her notes (you print them out) and her tests basically go right along with the handouts. She's approachable and so easy to talk to! I recommend her!!
It's Calculus, so expect that. She's a great teacher and has an awesome approach to the subject. My algebra skills were minimal at best before the class and I never scored below a 90 on anything! She gives refreshers before any new material and makes everything seem very easy. Highly recommend! No text needed but website access is required.
Conner is a great teacher! She has fill in the blank notes filled with examples. Uses WebAssign a lot, but so does every other math teacher.
Mrs. C was such a good teacher! You print out the notes before class and fill them in, and the tests go right along with the notes. WebAssign for every section but it is not a lot at all. I would definitely take her again if I could! Also, you do not have to buy the book!!
Already having a foundation in calculus will make the class much easier. If you haven't, then ATTEND EVERY CLASS and pay attention. It's not easy stuff unless you've had it before, but Prof Conner will help you out massively if you ask. Sometimes goes too fast, but she is an all around great teacher.
April was a greta professor but went a little fast during lecture. She expects you to know basic algebra so refresh your memory. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go in order to do well. Tests were difficult but if you study you'll be fine.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Loves the material and her students. Down to earth. Lets you know what you're doing wrong and how to fix it. She is the course coordinator for Math 125 so the material taught is very comparable to the final exam material. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she is a great teacher and is worth going to.
April is one of the best teachers I've had at UT. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you will lose clicker points and get zeros on the in-class quizzes and homework. She also has notes that are fill in the blank and goes over all of it in class. She teaches the material in a way that is easily understandable. Just study the notes and you will be fine.
Hands down the best Math professor at UT. I am terrible at math and just had to take this class as my last elective, but thankfully I choose Mrs. Conner! She goes out of her way to help each student learn the material and is very clear about the assignments and due dates. I wish I could go back and take her for every math class. I highly recommend.
April is a fantastic teacher and is very caring towards students. I got mono mid semester and she was SO helpful and understanding w/ classwork, hw, ect. If you've taken calc in high school, this class will be a breeze. Even if you haven't taken calc before, she gives great lectures and always has office hours. Class is painless and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend her! She has excellent note taking guides and uses Web Assign for Homework. You often have group work in class where you can work together to solve problems for grades in class. Attendance is very important because she does a lot of clicker questions!
April is a fantastic Professor for math 125. She made the material very easy to understand and I actually had never taken a flipped course before so I was extremely nervous but this class was a breeze with her. She genuinely cares and wants you to do well. She is very accesible and helpful during office hours! Thankful I had her!
Mrs. C is the best teacher I have had in college yet. I was iffy @ first on the flip course and in the end it was the best math grade I have yet to receive. She will stay with you after class till you finish every assignment if you need her too. Her goal is to make sure you understand the material and will do whatever it takes to make sure you do.
Very helpful and truly cares about her students success. Definitely take her.
Mrs. Conner is by the far the best teacher I've ever had. Incredibly approachable, and understanding. I never before had confidence in myself when it came to math. I took this class last year with a different professor and had to withdraw. Took it again with Mrs. Conner and have made straight A's. She sincerely wants to see her students succeed.
If you have to take math, make your life easier and take it with Mrs. Conner. She just wants you to pass and is super willing to work with you in and outside of class to make that happen. Just do the work and be respectful and you'll do well.
Mrs. Conner is one of the best professors I've ever had. She works through every problem and clears up any confusions. She genuinely cares about the success of her students and I'll definitely be taking any classes offered by her again
i took the flip course, but the online lectures were very easy to follow, have to purchase webassign
I took the flip course. I had Ms. Conner for Math 118 in math camp and Math 123. She is really nice. Quizzes aren't hard. Everything we did is in the course calendar. She helps whenever she can.
Shes one of the best most helpful teachers Ive had at UTK take her if you can for any class.
If you take the math 125 class don't buy the notes she gives a pdf form and its WAY cheaper to print on front and back in the library that to buy in the book store. STUDY and Dont skip class. The class is flipped 67% so DONT waste time studying the HW for the tests its all based on her notes, gw/cw and practice test.
I had Deas for my TA but April was ahead of everything. She was the person who made the exams. The exams were nothing like the notes, they were the hardest things I've ever taken in my life. No extra credit, no curving of exams. She never showed up to our class to help us with anything. Loved Deas but April is a different story.
Really easy class no joke. I breezed through this class because I took AP calculus in highschool. if you took any calculus youll be fine. Alot of homework but its straightforward. This whole class is all TA based and they all teach well. Go to every class. Attendance makes or breaks your grade in a huge way. Literally only studied 30 mins for exams
I took the flipped class, and while I normally hate flipped classes, this one was nice since I already took calculus in high school, so I never needed to watch the video lectures. Just show up, do the group work and online homework. Easy A. Your experience may depend on your TA because they're the ones you see every class (Bitting was a good one).
Now that classes are online due to COVID, students in my class had more interaction with Professor Conner than we typically would in a flipped course. She snapped at quite a few students that were simply asking questions or having technical difficulties. There was generally a bad attitude on her part and a lot of resentment and intimidation.
The class is typically flipped... this means you watch lectures on your own time by Professor Conners and then a TA will go over HW & GW in class. I think Conners is a great lecturer and you can't go wrong with her. However, if you like to ask a lot of questions then this set up may not be best for you!
She is by far the worst explainer I have ever had in my entire life. This women flys through all the notes while giving as little detail as possible and thinks we already know the topic so as no regard for any of the students. Honestly this teacher doesn't have a life as all she does is fly through notes cause she thinks she is so smart. Awful
Worst handwriting I've ever seen, voice is super annoying, long lectures to watch before your class, please just don't take her, I regret it badly right now
April is really nice and her lectures were very easy to comprehend. She gives specific note guides and videos to help you understand. I was scared to take this class but it was actually really manageable. Just print off the note guides and watch the videos before class. Also do the online reviews and hw to study for tests. She will help if confused
April is so cool. She helps you solving learning activities each class. She is an easy grader, and I believe she is the best.
The class is flipped, so the material is reviewed the night before and she goes over a practice in class. She explains the problems very well and is always available for questions. I always felt very prepared for exams. Very enjoyable!
Ms Conner is so kind and understanding, which makes this class 10x easier. The flipped class thing is a little weird to get used to if youre unfamiliar but she is super helpful along the way. She really cares for her students and responds to emails quickly! Dont skip class because its hard to make up the class work without a deans approval.
Honestly if you did the notes and payed attention the homework would be easy. Very simple class and always very helpful! I loved her and looked forward to this class. Just do the work and pay attention.
This class can be really easy if you take the notes and go to class. Professor Conner is the best for math classes. She leaves time to answer questions and always helps with the worksheets in class. If you finish the worksheet and the homework, she'll let you leave early.
This teacher is amazing, she is very helpful. Her test review is amazing and she works out every problem with you. She did not assign extra assignments. Content is not up to her so pick your professor based on their personality, everyone has the same work for the most part. Be prepared to have a lot of homework towards the end. Highly recommend!
Professor Conner is so nice and really helps you understand math. If your a visual learner she is great !!!! She really takes her time for everyone to understand and is always able to help you on your homework.
Professor Conner was great and made a boring class very enjoyable, she even left us with a standing offer for academic recommendations for future jobs and internships.
Lectures are great and the class is very organized; professor conner explained everything very well. Just stay on top of the work and the class is easy. If you need help, just ask and you will do fine.
Conner teaches visually, which is how I learn better. However, Conner is not a nice person, and her student teacher is not good either. He taught every time a new lesson was taught and then you have no clue what the lesson is about.
MY FAV PROF EVER!!!! Prof Conner is a literal angel. Not only does she take the time to make sure you understand what she's teaching you, but she's also super accessible via email/office hours for any questions and always makes sure ur super prepared for her tests. I wish I could take her for every single math class. 10/10 recommend taking her!!!!
professor conner was super easy to get along with, super flexible, and didn't assign too much homework at all
Professor Connor was amazing! She is super nice and a really great professor, she knows what shes talking about and executes it well. Attendance is mandatory , so make sure you show up to every class on time.
Really easy class and she offers a lot of help.
Conner is a great teacher but moves over topics a little slowly. I definitely learned a lot throughout this course though.
Dr. Connor is great. You just need to watch the video lectures before class to completely understand the content. Practice tests are pretty accurate and at least in the mini term class, you get to use notes for exams. If she taught me in high school I might have honestly ended up studying math.
Professor Conner is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She explains everything clearly and answers all questions. I took this class during a mini-term and we would watch videos outside of class and review the material the next class. If you put in the work you'll do well.
I think Prof. Conner is a great person but her teaching style is a little different than most. I felt in the beginning it was more of a high school class but that changed throughout. Reasonable grading, she tried her best to give as many points as possible. She does her best to help but in class it did feel like she was always in a rush
She seems really sweet but I felt like I learned nothing in this class. There is always homework, and the study guides for the exams are not always helpful. You have to teach yourself online through videos so if you are not good learning online I do not suggest this class as I am not good with learning online and barely passed.
bad😔 i mean shes nice but guys it was hard okay
She is a great teacher but goes pretty quickly when she is teaching. However, she is very helpful along with the TA's. There are note-taking videos that are required. Attendance is mandatory & homework is easy if you do the notes. Overall, you will pass if you do the notes, pay attention, and review the practice tests she gives out before exams.
Professor Conner makes a dry subject engaging. Her flipped classroom model with video lectures and in-class practice is very effective. I found Unstuckstudy and the practice tests especially helpful for acing the exams.
Genuinely don't know how she has good reviews. This is a completely flipped class. It's a hard subject, and the teacher DOESN'T TEACH. It might as well be online because we come into class and do nothing at all. They give us 5 minutes to finish the worksheet, and we learn nothing.
Terrible. do not take, im saving you a lot of time.
if u don't believe in God, u better start now. she doesn't teach AT ALL and relies on her horrible TAs to teach for her. she makes u watch instructional videos before class and doesnt teach irl, she hands u a worksheet and it's a free for all after that so what in the genuine hell am i paying tuition for. this class will make you hate urself. RUN.
She is very passive aggressive and acts like you should just already know everything and she is better than you, just like her colleague Mrs. Swenson who teaches the course. Very rude, and also does not teach, but simply uses questions on notes you already did the night before. Do not recommend taking the class if it can be helped.
