Great Prof. Makes the class interesting and is very helpful
Her announcements in class are never clear, so that no one knows what's going on
very informative & definately recommendedd
fun teacher. class isn't hard. she's very talkative and cheery in class
you are expected to know when everything is due. no reminders, must read a novel sized course pack for all info. Grades tough on papers, and gives 68% good job :-) . nice person but not a great teach er
she teaches very clear and makes sure everyone understands! puts you in a good mood!
She either loves ya or hates you.
She gives lots of extra credit that will boost your grade. Also she explains things when you're lost. Recommended, but you must do your part too!
She is a nice teacher, but she is a hard grader. Dosn't has too much work.
Really nice and funny. Great teacher. Just follow what she says in class, and exams are really easy. A little unorganized, but easy to change her mind on due dates.
she is a good teacher that likes to talk. Strict on attendance. Hard grader. But she gives alot of easy points and extra credit.
Great teacher! She was by far the greatest teacher I have had at CSUF! There is one group project at the end of the semester but it's really easy and fun to do! Take her!

She is very upbeat and friendly, would recommen. But she is positive and thorough. She is a picky grader though. Lots of writing! And make sure you check EVERY week when assignments are due, she doesnt always remind you, and the assignments sneak up on u!
very nice teacher, she is funny and very clear in teaching. A bit picky on grading, but as long as u come to classes and read material, not hard to pass.
great teacher. helpful and thorough in class, and equally as helpful during office hours. Just prepare for the in-class writing mid-terms and you are fine
Easy to understand and follow. Dr. Franklin helps you anyway that she can possible. Grades strict on exams but is helpful. Lots of homework points to boost your grade. Project is fun.
Great teacher, very helpful and enthusiastic.
She is very nice, and helpful. Her class is fun, I had her for 3 hours a week class, she was really good at keeping everyone up. Very experienced. Little picky on grading. But GO SEE her at office hours, very very helpful. TAKE HER!
She's very helpful, if you go to her office hrs. She make the class fun, very very upbeat.
Very helpful especially 1 on 1. Just do the work she assigns, and you'll do great!
I wouldn't say she was very easy, but I would say he inspires you to do you work, which in turn makes it easier to do the required workload. She is enthusiastic and kind. Good extra credit. Long term project. Recommend if you are not afraid to work.
Unclear as wat the teacher expects from you on the test. HW assigned almost everyday, and has no relevance to the exams, has 2 papers to do, group presentation that is hard. Not recommending this class to take.
Dr. Franklin is the most effective teacher to take to understand business writing to the full effect. I recommend everyone to take her. She is worth taking!!!
definitely recommend!
Very helpful - I actually enjoyed her class
writing classes are all the same... just write how they tell you to write. she does a great job explaining what she expects. do the practices and she'll fix you up for the next exam. it is a writing class, expect a fair share.
very helpful professor. Makes all content easily understandable. I have taken other teachers for business writing and she is by far the most knowledgeable, interesting, and fun. She makes the class enjoyable.
THE BAD PROFESSOR IN THE WORLD. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Not a good professor. April Franklin is horrible at lecturing, and she doesn't put any comments on homework assignments so you don't have any idea how you're going to do on the tests. If you can avoid her, DO SO....
IF YOU LIKE HEADACHES, THAN SHE'S FOR YOU
Best teacher ever!!! She is always willing to help and never puts anyone down. Its true that there is alot of work/writing in this class, but if you do the work you will be fine.
There is alot of writing and I never felt like I knew what I was supposed to do, and had no idea what grade I was going to geton tests or in the class. For as hard as you have to work you don't seem to learn all that much, and many of the classes are wasted w/ pointless lextures and group proj time
No Comments
Be careful if you are concern about your money, time and your GPA. You have no idea what would happen to you.
You will not learn anything in her class. There are lots of pointless homework assignments and projects (Group/ individuals). There are four exams including final and you have no idea how she grades students. She fails to keep you informed on your grades. She is very lazy, selective and unknowledgea
She is a bad teacher.
This is the BEST professor i have ever had. I based my schedule around taking her class! The homework is very much like the tests. You MUST participate in this class!! I would recommend her to anyone! Your writing skills are bound to improve!
She is the least conscientious professor I've ever encountered. That she would grade papers without remarks is state-school and business-school practice at its worst. She, somehow, is under the impression that he knowledge is so precious, that she can't share it with us lowly students. WRETCHED!!
She was a good professor. She is very straightforward and is available to ask her questions. She gives several homework assignments, tests, and a project. She's kind of laid back but expects a lot from students.
Dr. Franklin, is an amazing professor! I went into this class scared and came out an improved writer. The work load is heavy, but it prepares you for the tests and the real world. She is extremely funny and very willing to help if you go to her office hours. As long as you do homework and attend class, this class isn't that difficult.

Hard class but I loved her lectures. she is very energetic. you'll never fall asleep in her class gauranteed. Extremely nice and funny. very good class if you really want to learn. Extremely smart lady and you can tell she loves her job.
She sucks royally! She talks about nonsense the entire class. Don't waste your time and money on her. Her grades are unfair and baseless.Just take someone else's class and save yourself.
She's very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. The class basically is a lot of writing. Homework assignments help to prepare for tests, and boost the grade. All you need to do is show her that you try real hard, and she'll give you a B generously. Forget about other bad comments about her!
She does not help at all... She has a Doctorate degree, but does not know how to communicate... She lacks communication skills and confuses the students. Good Luck!!! If you take her.
I was very worried after taking my 2nd exam. I actually did better before her lectures. They confused me. Her lectures are funny and interesting, but they don't really help you become a better writer. You have to work super hard in this class. There is no right way to get an A.
I heard she was really a great professor when she started at Cal Fullerton. But now she is rally hard like the other professors. I like professors who bring a lot of research into the classroom but she tells jokes instead. I'll trade smart for funny any day.
I was so scared of this class because English is my second language. But she is great, helpful, and generous. I ended up with a B in class. :) People .. work hard and you will get good grade. Simple as that!
She is not generous at all. She won’t even bother to answer any questions from the students regarding their final grades, claiming that she is not paid for her vacation. If you have any questions you have to wait till the beginning of the next semester. But students did pay for their classes and they are entitled to know how she graded them. Ta
This class was a complete waste of time and money. Not because the curriculum is bad but the professor is condescending, tells jokes that are not funny, speaks in an obnoxiously loud tone of voice and is a sadistic grader. She feels that her idealistic view of the real world is the way things are but she is way off. Avoid if at all possible.
She teaches communication, but she doesn’t practice those golden rules. Her lecture only reflects her own big ego and biased judgments. You can work very hard, but it doesn’t help you get good grades in this class.
Be prepared to do a 10-12 page group of 3 people tough, tough and very time consuming project due during finals week. Do you get the picture yet? If you take her you must only take this one class per semester other wise you'll never have time to study for your other classes honestly!!!
Some teachers are more into their personality than teaching the students. That is Dr. Franklin. It is all about her first and what you might possibly learn later. I didn't like the way she marked up the papers.
Yuk! Super yuk!
instructor lacks communication skills although she has PHD, you would never know by talking to her. She needs to go back to school to learn how to teach. very unhelpful, asked for help many times, and she is always to busy. comes to class to tell personal stories, nothing learned. if you want to learn and get decent grade do not take her.
If it annoys you when teachers are overly talkative and enthusiastic, then do not take her. She is an OK teacher in my opinion. Class isn't as hard as every says it is. My only problem with her is that when she makes corrections to your paper, you can't tell what the hell she wrote cause her handwriting is so bad. Overall I give her a B-
I took this class a few years ago but I still remember how much I enjoyed it. I learned a lot from her. Many things I still use today in my professional career. She'll teach things that you need to function in the corporate world. I work with people who had other BUAD profs. and their grammer and writing structure is horrible. It's embarassing to say that I graduated from the same school as them. Our department now has it's own writing and grammer tests before people can be hired.
shes really loud, and really into teaching. dont sit in the front row because i literally get headaches after class from her shouting. grades hard on tests. shes nice though.
Writing is no longer fun. All the papers I've ever written in her class were "D" papers. She shouldn't be teaching. Does tell lots and lots of jokes. Is into herself. Don't take her if you want a passing grade.
Tough class to pass.
Grades hard; I never understand her grading. She assigns homework, but u never know if u did it correctly because she gives u the credit for doing the hw rather than actually check it for mistakes. Ur not sure if u are actually learning from your mistakes. Her voice is very whiney. Is annoying sometimes. She's loud & speaks very fast. But she's nice
Really good teacher, not to hard, not to easy -very informational and fair.
Great teacher! She will teach you a lot. Explains her grading and is very straight-forward. Homework every week and one group project, plus three tests and a final. She's not too hard, but not to easy. She loves what she does and is good at it. One of the best teachers i have ever had!
Took class Spr 05. She's a bit loud, class a little disorg'd & the lectures choppy, but grades fair and critiques well(hav2 ask2 decipher her comments).Learnd more in this class than in any other.I write 4 work & she helped make my writing better(don't use this as an example).By far the most useful class I have taken.Take class 2 learn not 4 easy A
Tough grader. Just give you credit for hw, but do not check for mistake (telling where one should focus for improvement)
Scored a 65% on the in class writing the first day, and the average was 35%. April commented "good job" on my wonderful 65%. So, I assume I will get an A or B in the class nope got a D. She does not reply to emails. Will not HELP you improve during her accesible hours and does not know engirsh herself. yep, it is true, i found many frag, runons, etc.
Yes she is loud and gets off topic. True she does not ever give feedback and you can't read her handwriting. Yes you will work your butt off and still only get a C. However, this class is one of the most useful classes I have ever taken as I use the knowledge every day in business. She pushes you so you learn. I recommend but it is a challenge.
Great teacher. Took her for 201 and 301. Shes a fair grader and only pushes you harder to become a better writer. Go to her office hours if you need help.
Very Challenging class. A lot of writing assignments and projects but the most important thing is that you'll learn valuable knowledge from her. Dr Franklin is very smart and she wants you to learn from her lectures and assignments. This class is for those who actually want to learn not to just get an easy "A" stamped on their transcripts!!!
Very tough grader. But very pleasant teacher, gives decent examples.
Nice lady that likes to talk a lot but doesn't really teach that much. I was a journalism major that always got > B's on papers and I got a C+ in her class. She emphasizes that you may be able to write an essay but that doesn't mean you will do well in her class. I am proof. Also, in the real world no one cares that much about email structure.
I LOVE HER!! The class is never boring with her because she is so energtic and loud. I feel that I learned a lot of helpful info but it is a lot of work. But if you dont want to have a boring class then take her.....its never boring
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I took her for 201 and liked her so much that I wanted to take her for 301. I've learned a lot in her class. Workload isn't too bad. A few in class writings that prep you for the final...Not an easy A buy somebody you will definitely learn a lot from...And who's always willing to help her students.
She is awesome. Fun and clear. Use the online office hours and make friends with her. If you are serious about improving your business writing skills, she will be honest and kind. Check your assignments online, FREQUENTLY! (Its your responsibility anyways).
Scored 85% on all papers including final and class presentation and got a C+. What? Tough grader. You'll learn but watch out!
Great instructor! Take April if you are truly interested in improving your writing. Has helpful online office hours that make it easy to connect with her! She is extremely knowledgeable in her field and really emphasizes the business applications of the subject. Highly Recommend her - but she is not easy so expect to work!
This class is not as hard as everybody writes. Attendance is required. Material is easy, however the workload is very high. It took up most of my semester workload. Teacher is pretty cool.
I'm sorry, but this professor is crazy. Extremely weird at times while in front of class. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't understand any comments she wrote on my assignments. I don't know, I don't really recommend her but I guess there are worse professors out there. =/
Dr. Franklin does grade hard. you could never find out what your grade was because she always said the points are small to begin and increase at then end. She lectured fast. Homework was unorganized but i think that is because she thought she was using a different book which she originally designed her course to follow. do your work, try, you'll pass
She is awesome!!! One of the best professors this school has I wish that she were teaching early 301 level classes. She is hard but fair... Do all the work and you will pass this class... She always helps students, and answers her e-mails asap!
Loved her! She's tough for sure, but super fun & helpful! I made the mistake of not buying a book, so I screwed myself grade wise. Pretty sure I would have gotten an A if I did all my homework. Remember to get as many points as possible!
Dr. Franklin is one hell of a woman. Teacher, ehhhh.. But she's cool for sure. There is no material to memorize, I didn't learn anything, just did her busy work and am a decent writer so i passed. I'd take her again. At this level of college, people shouldn't expect a professor to hold their hand anyway. overall, give the class a C.
Honestly... I didn't learn much in this class. However... the workload she gave at least gave us a chance to write something our own way... then she'll make corrections... and it's our responsibility to learn from them. this class is a self-motivation class which is good.
this prof is definitely very nice. this class is relatively easy if you put the time into it. i did all the hw and extra credit, got high Bs and an A on the tests but did bad on the group project because of other classes and still got a B+. Not bad at all but you need to be able to write decently.
HW are long yet simple; read and answer questions. Fun and enthusiastic teaching style but Not one of the best teachers I've had definitely. Not willing to help clarify/better understand questions you have due to the fact that it was discussed many times in class. Find someone who is willing to help you regardless. Book is a must! BUY IT!
She is very energetic and vocal when she lectures, which helps you keep interest in the topics. HW is easy, definately need the book. Exams are fairly easy but she grades very strictly so dont get high hopes for a great grade on the exams. overall good professor, i recommend her.
This isn't a creative writing class. She wants you to be to the point with your papers. Avoid useless words like "just". Will need the book for the HW, helps a bit to read some parts. Be sure to structure your papers so it flows well. Cool teacher, group project was a bit hectic though.
Honestly, at least for me, the teacher was good at killing class time through her gibberish. I'll admit, she was pretty amusing but I didn't learn much from her. Self motivation class, for sure. There's a lot of writing assignments, but it's not too bad. The group project is a huge part of the overall grade; therefore, choose your groups wisely!
Professor Franklin is a groovy lady! This class has a heavy workload. I hated the group research project, but I hate groupwork anyway, lol. Once you figure out her grading style and know what you need to do for proper business writing techniques, the class isn't too hard and is actually enjoyable. I highly recommend this professor : )
Busy Work! Class is easy. Just check your grammar and take out any redundant words. Do the hw and find a good group for the group project. Go to every class.
Listen, if you want to learn how to write a professional paper take her class and do it before you become a senior. Real world information and fast pace class. She makes the semester fly.
she's pretty funny she talked about her kids alot. expect to do alot of writing because PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. start the business project early because if you wait until the last minute it will show in your presentation
Professor Franklin is a very intelligent person that I respect a lot. Although, her grading is TOUGH but you will learn a lot! This is not an easy class, you must try hard to do well.
The class had no structure. Everyone had different submission dates. It takes takes weeks before she grades your paper. She likes to just generalize everything. She tries to be funny, but it's just lame. She tells you it's suppose to be a hard class, but herself was not prepared to teach the class at all.
doesn't matter if you learned something or you thought the class is beneficial and funny or whatever, you are not getting an A. she is very VERY hard grader. you put the same amount of work with another teacher and you will get better grade for sure.
Took her online class. 2 written exams, 1 final, a group project, and a few writing assignments. She tends to be disorganized, but she responds to emails. If you really want to take this course online, it's manageable with her.
Her class is the first one at CSUF that I did not pass. I am sure that although I didn't do that great, I definitely would have passed if I had taken the class with another professor. Don't take her class if you are doubtful.
I do not recommend this teacher. She is a hard teacher. She does not write any comments in your writing assignments. If you have problems in grammar, do not take her.
She gives you no feedback. You only get better at writing by writing, and she never grades your practices, so you will go into the exams unprepared. She grades insanely hard. Would not recommend her. Also, she is so energetic it's kinda annoying. But that's just my opinion.
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE COURSE!! Prof is way too unorganized. Wasted more time w classmates figuring out instructions & wrong due dates than actually doing homework. Terrible feedback!! She writes "Vague", "Focus" with no examples or direction on how to improve. Hard grader yet her lectures and assignments have spelling errors and wrong due dates.
Weekly online homework based off chapter readings but you don't need to thoroughly read the book to get an A on the homework. Exams are a bit difficult but manageable. She's a great teacher. Strict on writing but it's a writing class... Really enthusiastic and helpful! Easy B class, for sure. Two free absences. I'd recommend her.
Avoid, she grades really hard. Her lecture isn't boring but she's always come on time or late, never early (frustrating for a 7:00AM class). She's really unorganized. Takes forever to grade tests, take weeks to grade inclass assignments. Hate the group project, mainly because there's an ass in my group.
She is a very hard grader and her office hours are pretty limited unless you want to be there at 6:30 am. I learned a lot, but I think she could have been more lenient. I suggest finding good group members for the group project she assigns. If you can take it with someone else I recommend it. Unless you are ok with a low grade.
Great class. She is a hard grader in the first three exams that you will take, but eventually you will find that she give you extra opportunities to raise your grade. Also, find good partners for the group project. Take her!
She is a hard grader while she is disorganized and lazy.60~80% of her lectures do not relative to your exams, and she does not write any feedback in your writing assignments.
People aren't lying when they say she's a hard grader. Granted, it's necessary for us to learn but it doesn't help when she provides little feedback on exams. To receive credit for some assignments, must be present next class. Attendance is mandatory, hurts grade at the end. She's disorganized despite teaching for so long. Choose a different prof.
Final is 500 points. The first two exams are 140 and 190, while the group project is 100 points. Even if you have an A in the class, if you don't do well in the final you can end up with a bad grade. And her final was really confusing. She was not that helpful or fair. I am disappointed.
Passionate teacher, she is very knowledgeable, a kind of hard grader, be on her good side and do all the hw online and come to class with your templates before each test and you will be just fine
This is the first year that she's doing the flip class. You do everything at home and come to class to do assignments. You have to be good at self learning or you won't pass. She's a tough grader. She has unrealistic expectations. There's ALWAYS more you could have done. There's online quizzes every week, 4 exams, 1 group project and 1 essay.
The first week is crazy! Very confusing. After the second week, super easy course. She is unorganized and grading fluctuates. 2 midterms, 1 final at 7am on a Friday. Midterm 1:D, Midterm 2:B, both writing assignments. Not even possible to change writing style that much. She will post assignments on a Sunday night & expect them turned in Monday.
I've always been an A+ student when it came to business or writing classes. Not so with this class! Very confusing and challenging course. Assignments were often posted at the last minute and were expected to be turned in the next day. Last minute grader and I wasn't able to question grades, as they were posted late. Be prepared to work hard!
Her online powerpoint lectures are redundant. She repeats herself and isnt clear with assignment instructions. THIS IS A BUSINESS COMMUNICATION CLASS. How is she teaching? Avoid her if possible. Does not provide feedback, the final is worth more than anything else. Never used the textbooks, waste of money. Good luck.
Grades extremely hard with little and unclear feedback. Extremely hard class. Would not recommend doing it online. Would not recommend this professor at all. Also made us buy 3 text books that we barely even touched.
Her lack of participation to the course was contradiction to what her expectation were of her students. April was rarely present . There was weekly powerpoints with lectures that had little to no connection to the assignments. The directions were vague and unhelpful when it came to WEEKLY group assignments. I do not recommend taking the course.
Choose another professor. It's as if she enjoys taking points off of assignments for no reason. She deducts large amounts of points and gives almost no feedback whatsoever as to why the points were deducted. There's a large amount of assignments, mostly consisting of group work. I wouldn't recommend this class to my worst enemy. Beware of her.
I only took this course because it was the only online class available. If you're placed in a bad group with people who do zero work, your grade is going to reflect it. Instructions and due dates for assignments were not always clear. If I could have, I would have taken Prof. Howard Gordon for both 201 and 301.
do not take this class. she is an extremely hard grader that pretty much expects perfection from her students. There is a group project that is not difficult but will take time to do, she wants it "flawless". The tests are difficult and the little feedback she does give is sloppily written on the exam. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
Professor Franklin is one of the best professors I've ever taken. While she doesn't give out easy A's, she's very understanding and genuinely wants everyone to do well. She's very passionate about the subject and teaching. You have to pay attention in class and go to SI to get a good grade on tests. Homework every week. Very personable and funny.
Professor Franklin is not a proficient educator. She tends to disregard students, and the criteria for succeeding in the course is not clear. The class itself is inherently subjective (business writing), of course, but Franklin takes it to a new level. Beware this professor as I am suspicious she does not truly care about your success as a student.
TOUGH GRADER! She does not lecture. You learn everything at home and go to class to do group projects. She doesn't give feedback on these assignments so you don't know how to improve. There's 2 midterms, 1 final, 1 research project and a lot of homework. She has unrealistic grading criterias. It's either exactly how she would do it or it's not good
Horrible! So upset I wish I took this class with another professor.
For a communications teacher Dr. Franklin does a poor job communicating. Took her in person class but she teaches it like an online one. She doesn't teach at all you are expected to learn outside of class. The power points aren't relevant to the tests. She does not give clear directions at all! I would avoid her if possible.
Tough grader. She will take off a lot of points from small mistakes. But then again this is a Business Communications class so that's understandable. She isn't very clear with her directions. You'll receive back some papers scratching your head about what you did wrong. But overall, she's a nice person. You will have to work for an A.
She's an above average teacher, but doesn't really teach. She expects you to know what to do at the beginning of the semester. Being a transfer student, I had no idea how to write memos and case studies, but she helped me out a lot. Group project is a tough one but other than that you should be ok. H- 4.5 C- 4.2 E- 3.2
trash professor. Leaves the classroom during lectures, doesn't support students. Tough grader. Please avoid if you can.
DO NOT TAKE. I am a straight A student in every business class except for Business Writing. She says that my work is "good" on the exam, but somehow I still do not even get a C on the exams.... This Class must be avoided at all costs, it is not worth taking and is not worth the hit to your GPA.
Tough teacher would not recommend. Grading criteria not very clear in order to get an A she requires you to add things that she doesn't even teach.
Her grading sucks, she expects you to know when she doesn't even teach! "You'll do fine, we've done this thousand of times" umm no and she grade harder for the final and group project. however you will do fine if you follow her format
Her grading is very unclear. I was very confused on how I got D's, her comments were always positive, as in great information or well written. Gives a HW assignment out on Sunday without notice, and is due the next day at 5pm. Lengthy videos that are pointless. She does not teach, expects you to just know how to write case analysis and much more.
Took online. Her online videos are short and sweet . It covers the basics with quizzes in them. She's an awesome prof always willing to help. Her written exams are pretty hard (tough grader and hates grammar mistakes). There is a bunch of group work which was a drag. You could pass the class by just taking the exams as long as you do good on them.
Don't know how she's allowed to teach a communication course when her communication skills are the worst. Expect vague instructions for assignments; asking for clarification does not help either. Her videos are lengthy and a waste of time. Weekly group work was painful. Final is weighted ridiculously, making the entire semester's work pointless.
I am going to start off by saying this class is the hardest writing class I have ever taken in my life. I got A's in all my English class and received a C in this class. She grades very, very, very hard. I am really not sure what I did wrong on any of her papers because her feedback told me i wrote it well, but i got a 65 on the papers. BEWARE.
Class consists of online homework (really easy just common sense), a couple of in class assignments, a career packet (not hard but grades very difficult), group project 5-7 pages and presentation. And 4 tests. Yes she grades very harsh but it is only in your benefit. She really wants you to learn. Professor Franklin is a real sweetheart.
Took this class because I had her for 201. Same setup as in 201. Most of the class had her for 201. A lot more group work but it is really simple. Grade consist of Participation (easy points) group project 5-7 minute presentation and 3 case studies. Grades very hard on grammar. If you ask her for help she will give it to you. Very nice person.
April Franklin is knowledgeable in her field and does a very good job communicating the subject and making lectures interesting. But because she's very knowledgeable she's a very tougher grade on exams (timed essays) which is like 70% of your grade. If you are not a good writer or you are very wordy DO NOT take her as she is a very tough grader.
Let me start by saying: Dr. Franklin is a very kind woman, but boy is she scattered. When you begin this class, it is like being hit with a school-hurricane. Many things to do, due dates bearing down on you, and no idea how to do them. Her instructions are vague and confusing. You will spend more time trying to figure out HOW to do the work.
She isn't all that bad. Need an online code for reading/homework. 2 assignments weekly and reading helps. Study examples in chapters. Timed in-class essays (exams) every few weeks on memo/letter/email. Read the prompt, keep it short and add extra details. Group project and career packet at the end of the semester. Got a B+ and i hate writing lolz
I HATE writing but this class wasn't that bad. Professor Franklin makes her lectures engaging & she is very helpful at office hours. Online homework every week & in-class writing exercises (counts towards grade/attendance). If you follow the examples and practice exercises, you should do well on the exams. Take advantage of extra credit!
For a Business communication class, you would hope that the professor would be CLEAR in instructions instead of being vague. We are here to learn how to do things and when information is just thrown at you and you're expected to magically know it, you'll be unsuccessful. The course is frustrating with the lack of instruction given.
She's the type of teacher you have to put effort with. She's passionate and her teaching style is very hands on. Make sure to show up, pay attention, do the homework, and try! Personally the reason I like her is because she is pretty linient on tardyness, I couldn't always make it on time but she gave me attendance anyways. She is understanding!
Highly recommend Professor Franklin. She cares about her students and makes sure to give you the attention you need. Shes easy to get in contact with and is clear about what she is expecting from you. 10/10
She is very clear in what she expects from us and teaches very well. She's also really funny and engaging so you never feel like you HAVE to pay attention. She grades kind of tough but as long as you show up to class and do the homework, you should pass. I have learned a lot from her.
I took her for Buad 201 so naturally I thought I should take her for Buad 301 as well. The class is doable but you won't get an A. Settle for a passing grade and get on with your life.
Prof. Franklin is a very smart professor & improved my writing. That being said, the bulk of the course is tests and she is a ferocious grader. It is not impossible to do well but you will have to work extremely hard to succeed. 1 group project at the end. I could never imagine taking her for 301 if this is what she expects for a low div course.
I had professor Franklin for BUAD 201 and absolutely loved her. She is very clear about what she expects and gives you many attempts to practice your writing through homework assignments before the actual exams. She is a tough grader, but she is always available outside of class to help. I am very glad I took her class.
If you're going to grade hard, then give good feedbacks? All this professor does is underline and scribble. Man, if you truly believe your grammar is topnotch then take her? if not, don't even bother. Not sure what she wants from us. Bless your soul if you had no options. Good luck.
Dont take her.
do not take her! it is a very challenging class she does not help and she does not want to see her students succeed. take it with the right professor who would be able to help you and make you pass this stupid class.
I don't recommend this teacher's class because she doesn't teach you how to write a business case. Worst teacher
Horrible, vague writing assignments, and boring irrelevant lectures.
She grades VERY hard and leaves vague, unreadable feedback on tests. The homework is okay, but you still have to put time and effort into it. Two projects rushed in at the end of the semester. Two chances for extra credit which are super helpful and easy. Attendance counts towards grade. She's a fun person, but just a super hard test grader. :/
Take someone else. AVOID HER!!!
Literally the worst professor ever she doesn't teach anything. She openly says that most people don't pass her class. Dont waste your time and dont take her.
I tried to talk to her several times about my grade, and she disregarded my documented emergency and never helped me. The video lecture and assignment sheets don't prepare you for the exams. Most of what she shows is useless and does not relate to your major.
She has a number of confusing rules for writing that are detrimental to the learning process (intense focus on over-analyzing). On the exam day, she spends half the period on review, instead of just administering the test, leading to a wast of time, unprofessional.
Just awful. -- Most people hit the nail on the head. Feedback is useless (it really is just some scribbles and a couple of comments.) I'm not, by any means, a lazy student, my GPA is above 3.8, I work very hard and this professor is just the worst. Ironically, a horrible communicator.
She grades VERY hard and leaves vague, unreadable feedback on tests. This is the hardest class I have taken in my time at CSUF. The homework is okay, but you still have to put time and effort into it. Two projects rushed in at the end of the semester. Two chances for extra credit are super helpful and easy. I would avoid taking this professor.
Somehow, I just don't know why she gave the resume point so low without any suggestion in the paper. She did't even teach. Grade harder even though study hard. Not responsible for her work.
I loved this class. I learned a lot, and she made the class enjoyable. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed. Would highly recommend her.
First of all, don't take her class!! If you're out of options then focus on one main thing. Passing her class!
This class is was the hardest class I have taken in my whole college experience. Every review about her is correct: grades very very hard, useless feedback, etc. If you can avoid taking her class I would. You will spend more time on this class than you do than any other that semester.
Weekly, tedious online homework that's useless to what you do in class since it's just writing letters/memos/emails. In-class activities every day so don't miss class. She grades ridiculously hard on exams. All the feedback on exams that she gave me were minor mistakes yet I averaged a C on all of them. Take someone else if possible.
Tedious, useless online assignments. Makes you submit an assignment to 4 different assignment links. Dont take this class, trust me and everyone else who rated her. No communication If you take her class online, no clear instructions at all. Honestly, take somebody else
Worst teacher. Unnecessary homework and quizzes every week. 3 exams, 1 group project as final. Tough grader and does not explain things well. DOES NOT SAY WHAT SHE WANTS ON EXAMS AND DOES NOT TEACH YOU WHAT SHE WANTS TO SEE! Expects you to know. Every single assignment instructions are vague. Get a good group for the group project (7-9 page paper).
I took this class online. Learning material is so limited in compare to assignments and quizzes. She has no mercy when it comes to grading, and her feedback is short and confusing. She is not responsive to emails and very tough grader. The group projects are very time consuming and unfair. Overall will never take a class with this professor again
Does not communicate with students, gives unnecessary, extra work, and did not do a good job of transitioning to online learning.
the WORST professor I've ever had at CSUF. Avoid at all cost!
She sucks! She makes you do way more busywork than other professors. She's a really hard grader. You have to write EXACTLY how she tells you to write. After you take your first writing test, go visit her office hours. Ask her how to fix it and then just do exactly she she says. You have to be very clear and concise. The group project is annoying.
She does not provide any feedback on your writing. You taught yourself throughout the whole course and she only there to grade you. Have many assignments that could have been helpful if she actually gives feedback on. The grading scale is ridiculous with 70% focus on exams. Even if you are desperate to take this class, don't take her.
Worst professor ever, you would think she would know how to teach online considering she's been doing this for a while. She is no help at all never gave clear feedback and was very harsh. Unable to contact her many times or she would stop answering emails. Told department chairs about her and they were no help and basically said it was my fault.
Shes no help and sucks at answering emails, also doesnt know how to structure class. Very rude and not clear at all. Told the department about her mess or class and they told me shes stressed cause of her kids and the pandemic. She acts like this is the only class we take and give a lot of home work. AVOID HER AT ALL COST
You can tell she is a nice person, but her grading was overall way too harsh. i took her class online and the zoom meetings were just breakout rooms instead of lectures. 1-2 quizzes every week along with homework, which was too much workload especially because they aren't even a big portion of your grade.
Whoever rated her over a 2 is lying. She sucks at teaching. She does not care at all if you pass or fail even if you try. She assigns too many things with such little time to do them. Get ready to do work over spring break. I honestly would fire her If I were the dean. She gets offended if you don't address her by Dr. and is just really unorganized
You know how DC keeps changing direction of their movies? Yeah, prof. Franklin should change her teaching. Honest to god I tried my best & put in WORK yet somehow was unable to match her grading standards. Her TOUGH grading is unwarranted. I get trying to improve skills but jesus not like this. Expect lots of reading, hw, vagueness & hard grading.
An insane amount of assignments are given by the professor. Like we are students not machines. If you have a job and taking 5 classes a semester you will have a hard time passing this class with this professor. Would rate this class 9/10 in difficulty. Take this class with a different professor.
She's hands down the worst professor. She gives you an insane amount of assignments every week, I do more work in her class than in all my other classes. She's not very clear with her directions with the assignments & grades you very rough regardless of how hard you tried. All my group partners were freaking out about failing her class.
just do yourself a favor and don't take her.
For context, I'm a 4.0 student. I'm receiving an A in this class. My review is not that of a bitter student who couldn't pass. This teacher is a-w-f-u-l. She assigns an absolute TON of homework, and she'll harshly grade your exams (write a letter) based on the specific phrasing SHE would have used. It's impossible to predict.
Horrible professor, the other ratings are correct, avoid taking her!!! Grading is super hard and she gives the worst feedback. You will not pass this class. She gives so much homework and changes the turn in dates constantly. She should reconsider her career, cause teaching is not for her.
Unfortunately, Dr. Franklin replaced my chosen professor in the fall. I am a try-hard student, and I was thoroughly disappointed with the lack of effort and time devoted by Dr. Franklin. My class went from three hours, to her posting eight to nine assignments a week with no instruction. I quite frankly learned nothing and would avoid at all costs.
2 chapters to read, watch video on, and then take a quiz on each week. Random assignments she does not warn you about pop up on MindTap so play close to attention to that. All mid-terms are emails or memos, not that hard to pass but very hard to receive an A. Career Packet and group project w/ presentation (each member same score) are your finals.
She is actually a really nice professor and is easy to reach out to. She is a tough grader. She has a lot of assignments and can be hard to find on canvas but just message her and she will help you out. The class was helpful, I learned a lot about writing. Exams are writing prompts but it's only about a page long. Easy online class!
I would consider English and writing to be a strong suit of mine. However, this class was unpredictable. This professor will give you feedback based on how she feels at the time of reading your exam. I would come to class and implement her tips on the exam, and then would receive feedback that contradicts that. There was also a lot of homework.
HWK doesn't take long to complete, but there are ALOT! These assignments prepare u for the exam tho so be sure to do them. Professor literally gives u the prompts for the exams and all u have to do is go back into previous assignments and write down quotes to help ur argument. Bad reviews are from disgruntled students who don't put in the effort.
Professor Franklin gives a whole lot of assignments. She is one of those professors that thinks this is the only course being taken. I am a straight A student and still ended up with a B+ in this class. Avoid taking her if you lack organization or if you want a flexible and easy-going course.
Professor Franklin assigns a lot of homework at the beginning of the semester which can be a bit overwhelming. We had 3 case analyses, one research project, and 1 group project. However, she is really good at communicating with students attend her office hours and ask questions and you'll be good.
Sometimes the class was a little unorganized and a lot of work. If you can stay organized and do the work it is very easy. The first week there are so many assignments but they are easy to complete. Start them early. She is really nice and easy to reach just text her. If you need help for sure go to office hours. Class has a lot of assignments.
Be ready to spend a few hours a week reading academic journals and answering questions based on them. Exams are based on entire modules and notes are encouraged. Take good notes. Class was a ton of writing and she's a pretty tough grader. The assignments weren't too difficult, just very time consuming.
They've removed previous statements I've made about Dr. Franklin. Please don't fall for the trap - this professor is easily a 1 star or even lower if it was possible. Won't even explain how horrific my semester went with her, just read all her reviews. I didn't pass by about .7% and wouldn't return emails on last week of school on why my grading.
