Marriage and Family planning class really walked the line as far as being an "academic" class. I didn't like her teaching style, the material presented or the feminist slant. Class resembled group therapy more than a humanities course.

Thorough but well done.
Very in depth and clear about her own personal experiences with the subject matter. Love her dedication although dealing with painful pregnancy... its obvious she loves her work and it rubs off on the students.
She is very good at using real life examples but she grades hard and you can definatly tell when she has a pregnancy mood swing in her gradind she may in fact have favorites and grade them better. but she is cool and very entertaining
Hands on teaching style. Has a open and laid back vibe to her classroom
shes a great teacher but at times she can overload you.
Didn't care for lecture style, didn't like that she didn't write her own tests, if she "remembers" you-you might get a better grade. Don't be late or you will get the glare.

easy class, but don't be late. she is very nice and encouraqing

She is a very nice lady, but I thought her class was boring. The class is not very hard, but you need to do the readings to do well.
not very difficult. just show up and read the book. half the time she would let you use notes on the test (multiple choice.) and ocassionaly she would let you fix answers to partial credit after the test was corrected.
She is tough.

Her lectures were good but when I came to her with a personal problem she was rude and very unhelpful. After that experience she started grading me harder than before.
interesting class along with good lectures although lengthy at times. i keep being told she grades unfairly but from my experience she just has more patience for those that are actually interested in the subject matter and not just their grade. read the book before taking the multiple choice tests and you'll do fine.

april is a really cool teacher and gives some pretty good info. just make sure that you READ YOUR BOOK because her tests are pretty hard and a lot of the questions come from it.
awesome teacher, understanding and fun. if you want a good grade you have to actually read the book and you'll be fine.
Make sure you read the book! You WILL need to study and do the reading for this class, but if you do, you should be ok. The exams are pretty tough though.
Very interesting class. April is nice and knowledgeable.
Awesome teacher, you will look forward to going to class everyday even though attendance is not required!
This was such an awesome class. I really enjoyed it. It's not easy, you have to work hard to get a good grade, but if you put the effort into the class it's far from impossible.
abnormal psych 2 yrs ago she was awesome and funny. In human relations it was all about having your butt in the seat, not learning. She took points off for medical appointments even when work was turned in on time. did not seem to care about her students even if they were trying to learn the material. tention in entire class due to lack of respect.
very condescending toward the class, I liked her a few years ago.. but she is not the same person anymore. it is all about having your butt in the seat, other then that this teacher could care less just do not make her job any more difficult then it has to be. thank you.

April knows her stuff. You can tell she really enjoys psychology. Make sure you get your assignments in and on time. She's really not that hard of a professor. We have it so damn easy in America anyways..think about some other countries (Japan, China). Anyways...April is cool, especially if you keep on her good side! :-)
In this class we did not have tests. You really need the book because you have to do a chapter summary in order to be able to walk in the door. Lots of fun activities and personality tests. Easy class. Wrote 7 two-page papers, 1 final 4 page paper, all doublespaced.
Kindrick was an awesome teacher. I learned a lot from her class and if I were going into Psych id still be takin her classes.
if your going to take a MWF or TTHF class you have to read one chapter almost every night to keep up with the class. she expects us to read the entire book buy the end of the quarter. the tests are not too bad, u get 15 minutes with the book or notes. if you are determined then take it, otherwise go for Clancy shes the best.
Not only is April EXTREMELY attractive, she is very very nice.... i thoroughly enjoyed every second of her class, it is a lot of work, a very hard class, but i think everyone should take it just so they meet Professor Kindrick, nicest and hottest teacher at SPSCC
Professor Kindrick made Psychology of Human Relations very fun and interesting. Strangely enough, the class improved my social skills greatly. Before I took this class, I was a nerd. I am actually still a nerd, but now I am a socially adept nerd. If I get an opportunity, I will be taking more psychology classes from April Kindrick.
I really enjoyed this class she made the subject very interesting with fun experiments and interesting documentaries on case studies. To texts in time consuming to read but keeping up on the reading is a must otherwise you will not be prepared for class. She has high standards for you papers and the layout you use but is willing to explain things
Yes, she is difficult, but it is a good thing. She actually expects us to learn and be attentive. Quite possibly the best professor I ever had at SPSCC. She has high expectations for us and treats us like college students.
Amazing teacher. She uses her real life experiences in class to relate subject matter. April expects us to do our work and to have it done well. Best psychology professor.
Psychology of Human Relations is the most fun I have had out of all my classes. We spend most of the class working on communication skills, basically talking with peers. She is a hard professor, but that is definitely a good thing because I have learned so much.
I took her Human Sexuality class and I loved it. I actually took the online course. I learned a lot from her class and I usually don't like psychology courses. This class was very interesting but you need to put some work for a good grade.
I took her Human Sexuality class and I will never take another class from her. Very condescending to the class and gives a HUGE amount of work, HUGE. Grades very hard and nitpicks, seems to want to take points off. Fun class, but not worth it. Go for Clancy instead.
April is a wonderful teacher. Probably the best teacher I've had at SPS. I've taken all of her classes and she is someone you can truly learn from. She doesn't give a lot of work, it's college appropriate. Her teaching style isn't the typical lecture, it's really hands on. My favorite teacher by far!
April is very condescending towards her students. The workload was insane. We had a midterm, final, research project (you had to do original research), group presentation, solo presentation, a poster for a fair, weekly journals and she grades really hard. Picks apart everything. And I think I learned more in my highschool sex ed class.
She was so nice and didn't give too much homework. It was nice because we pretty much talked the whole class with the other students. One day we even walked each other around campus blindfolded. That was a fun class.
I am taking this class online. I am preparing for my research project..she approved my articles then said there was no way to prove my research. I sent her another email to get some clarity, and have not heard anything yet..a week and a half later. Very discouraging!
I took all the Psyc classes I could from Kindrick. I never really got good grades in school, but she really helped me to love the subject and I received A's her classes, making me want to push forward. She's super cute too!!
I took Psych 100 with her last year. Her classes are interesting but she put questions in 2 tests from chapters that we didn't even touch in class yet. When I asked her about it she told me that it was from the chapter of the test when it was from the next one! Nice professor but I would not recommend her.
This class was so much fun! I loved going to class. She always made it interesting and she is way nice. If I couild take this class again I would!
I am taking human sexuality online. The actual modules are good, but I agree. She loves to nitpick. It's like nothing is good enough and I ALWAYS get 2-4 points off of my posts. But whatever. Overall I like the class, not the instructor.
She's a really tough grader, but the course work is really interesting. Expect an okay grade if you do okay work. No not take if you think this will be an easy online class.
She is very slow at grading assignments and isn't very clear on the feedback she provides. Overall the class wasn't too bad but I felt the students taught each other more than the professor did. If I were to take psychology (communications) again... I would pick a different professor.
Kindrick is a nice teacher overall. She give instructions on how she wants assignments done, but then grades them completely different. Nothing is good enough for her. It is very hard to get full points on assignments because she is so picky on everything she wants. If you take this class, make sure you use APA format and expand on everything.
Was slow at grading discussions so if you were doing something incorrectly you don't get an opportunity to fix things in future assignments. No extra credit opportunities. I did every assignment and turned in everything on time and I barely passed with an A-. If students are willing to work hard they should be able to receive a solid A easily.
Best. Best. BEST. I'm sorry if that isn't helpful, but she is literally the best. In my opinion, anyway. Prof. Kindrick is smart, caring, and involved. Need help? She's there for you. I would take classes w/ her again & again if I could. Did I mention she's the best teacher I had at SPSCC? Go find out how great she is for yourself already! B-E-S-T.
I took Kindrick for Psych and Abnormal Psych. I'll admit, at first it was hard to understand what she was looking for in assignments. I started off the quarter with a C due to the work load. After talking to her about her expectations for the homework, I brought my grade up to an A. She takes some getting used to, but I liked her a lot.
This is the first time I've ever had a professor who went a month without grading. She has the same writing assignment every week. She doesn't do any sort of lecturing or explaining. She's by far the laziest professor I've ever had.
Psych100 had the most intensely boring textbook and it was literally like 60 pages per chapter. Important to be active in class discussions which is difficult if your class is comprised of boring folks. My dad died at the beginning of the quarter and she was VERY understanding and offered to allow me to take weeks off.
She's an okay teacher. She took so many weeks to grade our things. There were barely any video lectures, all she did was post multiple sites and videos for us to watch (which I didn't bother to). You need to read if you want to pass the class. There was a big research paper at the end. Easy A if you do all the work!
This class is incredibly fast paced. She expects us to get through 2 chapters a week. Reading the book is essential to passing, however, each chapter is very long and you typically read 2 chapters a week. There are so many long discussion posts as well. I typically am a good student but this class drove me insane!
I've taken two classes with April. She requires one discussion post and two response posts plus 1-3 multiple choice quizzes (8-15 q's) every week, all which are based on the reading. You must also write one term paper with an accompanying power point, and take a multiple choice final exam. It's not a bad workload, but you must be self-reliant.
She really loves the discussion posts. A 10-20 question quiz per chapter in the book. One research paper, which she has you do in steps throughout the quarter. Stay up with your homework and you will do well in the class. She also drops your lowest grades as far as discussion posts are concerned. I had a blast with the class.
She had fun interesting work that always kept you busy. Shes pleasant and sometimes sarcastic so it lightens the mood. Overall one of my favorite teachers.
I'm taking Human Sexuality online and it is a pretty easy class. There are discussion posts and the chapters in the book can be quite long, but if you do that reading you should be fine. She is extremely nice and has a way of lightening the mood (online). She seems to understand that you have a life outside of class and it's very refreshing.
All of her quizzes (1 or 2 each week) were open book. The midterm and final was also open book. Fair grader, but doesn't accept ANY late work. I would take Professor Kindrick again.
It was an easy class so far. Theres weekly quizzes with discussion posts. DPs have to be a page (double spaced) with 5 sentence responses. One big research project thats kind of throughout the quarter. She was nice and responded to emails during the week and she likes to joke around. She also gives good feed back at the beginning of the quarter:)
I've taken Professor Kindrick for Psych 100 & 200. Class format and grading criteria are clear, she is responsive to messages, and while some assignments seem daunting, if you do the work and stick with the lists and timelines that she provides they're entirely doable and there is no reason you cannot do well in her classes.
April is a great teacher, but the class is extremely difficult. I could never quite explain in detail enough for her even while trying. One discussion post (sometimes videos) per week plus three response posts. There are quite a few projects including a 7-9 page paper, meeting someone outside of class and writing an essay about it, and videos.
Has a policy where she will not accept late work. Not for a fraction of the credit, even if submitted less than a day past deadline. Very unforgiving grading criteria.
I took her for my HDEV class, I loved the class it was very easy as it was a 2 or 3 credit course, I decided to take her again for my Psyc 200 class, participation definitely does matter for her class, she does grade not extremely harsh but she wants good work, the final project was hard and challenging, overall a very nice and caring teacher.
I had Professor Kindrick for Lifespan Psychology. Overall, I absolutely loved this class and appreciated Kindrick's teaching skills even during a pandemic. She shares videos of coursework for the week and preps you well for the quarter (as long as you read the syllabus). We do have two tests a week (open book) but they are easy. Would take again!
I took her over the summer, one of the easiest classes I have taken here at SPSCC. I do believe that my class was a bit easier because she changed the format of the class ( thank god). I would honestly recommend taking her if u wanna easy A.
A good amount of work is expected. The tests were not easy either, but Prof. Kindrick was very approachable, and it was easy to figure out how to study for the tests. There is a bit of writing, which is to be expected in a psychology course. weekly discussion post participation is required also.
I had no bad experiences with Professor Kindrick. This class and professor were my safe space for the quarter as compared to my other classes. She gives pretty good feedback on the essays, and there are a variety of creative prompts. If you've taken college english then writing these essays shouldn't be much different. Quite a bit of extra material
Weekly quizzes and exams are solely based off the free online text book and generated from the text book. Zero recorded lectures. Most weeks there are two chapters a week. More of the work is based at the beginning of the quarter and the second half is slightly easier. This class is hard and teacher put little effort in.
Overall a really pleasant class experience. There was a lot of reading and quizzes for each chapter, but other than that I have no complaints!
This is the professor you want, responds to email well. Its a psychology class so reading and understanding is important. Great at giving feedback to better your next paper. The first few weeks she sets you up by developing your skill and the later weeks you will start to raise the strictness of the grading based on previous performance
The workload in the first few weeks is a lot more than the latter weeks. A lot of the writing prompts are not clear so just try your best and if anything, write more than you think is necessary. On the big assignments the grading rubric is a lot stricter so I recommend submitting something you feel confident in rather than just the bare minimum
Professor Kindrick was an excellent and energetic professor. While there is a lot of required reading and a few essays (that catch up to you if you don't note the due date) her grading is clear and she's accessible for help. You aren't required to do all 10 discussion posts unless you want to improve your grade. It wasn't easy but learning was fun.
Really amazing & inspirational! Great general psych course. Heavy reading but from my experience that is typical in psych courses.
This professor was super caring, gave great feedback and always replied when you had questions. The workload was not terrible, a basic week looked like a discussion post with the following reading of that weeks chapter and a quiz or two (Not long, super easy as long as you participate). If you actually try it will be an easy passing grade.Recommend
Prof. Kindrick sets clear rules but offers no grade boosts. Assignments are due back-to-back (tough when juggling a job and home). Hard work equals average for her. Beware, you'll lose all 10 points for APA errors. The onus is on you to work miracles.
No lectures. Online free textbook. No extra credit. Lacks rubric on some assignments and gives bad/non-specific feedback. Weekly: read 1-2 chapters + 1-2 quizzes + 1 page discussion post + 2 dp replies. Major project throughout quarter, 20% of grade. Consists of a LOT of parts that are due weekly/biweekly. 2 essays + a slideshow
Instructions are not clear. The instruction is so confusing. This thing should be really fixed.
Amazing professor! Gives lots of feedback and weekly work load is clear and straightforward. Encourages critical thinking and there's plenty of optional bonus content for various topics. Expect reading a couple of chapters a week, as well as discussion posts and quiz. It's clear Professor Kindrick cares for students and subject matter.
Professor Kindrick is the best teacher i've had at SPSCC. I've taken two of her classes online for my nursing prerequisites. Her assignments are clear and the course overall is VERY well organized. There is a bit of reading/videos but it all directly applies to the assignments. She wants her students to succeed, class is a breath of fresh air.
The class was fun and the professor gave lots of examples and papers to read… sometimes too much. Kendrick tells you exactly what she is expecting, which unfortunately means even the slightest deviation means lost points. Her feed back can be vague, and will request you reach out for more. I recommend not reading every little thing, as there's lots
I took Prof. Kindrick's Intro & Lifespan Psychology classes over Fall and Winter quarter. I loved both classes and appreciated her consistency. One quiz, and one discussion post each week, but you MAKE the quizzes rather than taking them. There is a building block project over each course. Mainly graded on effort rather than correctness. Recommend!
PSYC 210! Her grading criteria is extremely confusing. She is not clear on what she's expecting and docs you points rather drastically if you miss a thing that's not even listed. It's a cool class none the less, but my grade is terrible due to her lack of clear communication in instructions. I advise choosing a different professor for this class.
By far one of the best online classes I have taken. She has been invaluable with any questions I have. She also responds to emails on time, and you are never left unanswered for days at a time. I highly recommend the class and April as a professor.
I am currently in this class and it is almost the end of the quarter. Every class I have ever taken is in the 90% or above, this is the only class where I have received a bad grade. Her grading is very confusing and small mistakes are heavily weighted. Good luck! She is nice though!
Love her! I took her PSYC 116 class and the workload was VERY light and some assignments were flexible. Would love to take her general psych class. :)
Super easy and fun class. You can tell the professor is passionate about it. There were “quizzes” each week but you made your own and it was only 5 questions. Most of your points come from discussion board participation.
