you can't miss more than 3 classes, and if you have her @ 8 am it sucks if you don't like to get up, but she is a really good teacher. she explains everything!! if you have any questions she will answer them no doubt!

so tempting to skip, but dont.after class is over-you realize its not that bad.projects blow meatballs, but thats because of the ppl in your group.read book - tests arent as easy as you may think. prepare ahead for projects. shes a tough grader. aprils so fun just DONT FALL ASLEEP in class. ^-^

April's bright personality is matched only by her southernness. She may at first appear too cheery and playful to be a credible professor, but it's not the case at all. My only problem with this class is that I feel like I have to laugh at all of her jokes.

Good teacher sxcept she says attendance is mandatory but she doesnt take attendance every class. she takes it randomly. There are a lot of people who missed more classes then i did but the majority of the time she didnt take attendance.

shes says she has an attendance policy but she never takes attendance and even if she does she doesn't take any points off even if you miss a ton of classes. she favors all the athletes. overall the class is fun and she tells a lot of interesting, but far fetched, stories. the class is easy, two presentations, two tests, and the final.

If you have April for GCOM you are in for a treat. She is an amazing teacher and an amazing person. The two tests you have aren't difficult as long as you study. You have two presentations but they are both on interesting topics! April really got me interested in Communications!! Pay attention and work hard on presentations and you will do fine!

April is amazinggg. Even if it is an early class, do not switch out, you will regret it. She wakes you up and you totally forget that it's the crack of dawn. I don't know what to say... I had her for about half the year and then has a baby (congradulations!), but in the time she taught, she was good. Made lectures interesting and definitely wanted to see you improve. Gave good pointers. Some jokes ran thin, but she was worth waking up at 8 am for. Recommended.

April was very funny and entertaining. She usually got off on tangents about her husband's Italian family or baby Maddie Grace but they were always really fun and interesting. As long as you read the textbook and study you'll be fine. The 2 speeches and 2 writing assignments are really easy, and if you study the final isn't bad either.

April is a great GCOM teacher, especially because a large percentage of the class only enrolled because it's required. She knows that and makes it fun. Discussions can be awkward, and a great deal of the lecture is stories about her life, but I would still take this class.

One of the easiest professors to relate to, she makes it insanely easy for you to succeed. Impossible not to like her positive, bubbly personality and the tests come straight from the book and lectures. Speeches are too easy, never got less than a B and they're the easiest subjects you could ever talk about. Makes it easy to wake up for her at 8am!

She is one of the most sweet, funny and outgoing professors I have ever had. She goes over the material in a way that makes it easily understood, has plenty of funny stories as her examples, and hates tests. There were only 2 tests throughout the course of the semester besides the final. Our groups presented 2 different speeches with easy topics.

She will not let you walk all over her but if you honestly say that you were sick or had a conflict she will allow work late. She's one of the main reasons i became a communications major, take her if you can, you have only 2 tests, 2 speeches, and not one quiz.

This is the best GCOM class to take if you are still learning how to public speak. As long as you are prepared and trying, you will do well.

She has a very monotone voice which is sometimes confusing but she loves telling stories which were often times awesome. Definitely take!

Roth (Gulotta) was a great way to start off the day. Shes a teenager in a 30-40yr olds body lol. Shes very relatable and funny and just a fun professor. That being said lectures are dreadful. She reads straight from the textbook so if you skip you didn't miss much. 2 group speeches, 2 tests, 1 paper, MREST, Sona surveys and the final are your grade

She grades kind of hard for speeches, but the grading is very fair. She basically gives 100 for other assignments besides the speeches. She's so sweet and funny! And she always lets us out early.

Class really isn't that bad, my class was tuesthurs and only had it for about 40min each time. Study some for the tests, and study the study guide for the final, idc what people say, it does help. Got a B+ in the class easily, but if you don't do poorly on the tests like i did you should get an A. Not a harsh grader with the presentations.

April is hands-down my favorite professor at JMU! She makes GCOM so fun and entertaining. I was excited to go to my 8 am with her. The class is not hard at all. The worst part is the final because it is a general test for all of the GCOM classes. Her normal tests are simple if you study a little. She made the whole class geek at her stories!

April is awesome! As long as you do what she says, it's nearly impossible to get a bad grade. Memorize your speech and make eye contact! Not a harsh grader at all. Just pay attention to due dates, and you'll be fine. She always cut class short, which was a plus too! She really tries to relate to her students!!

My favorite teacher at JMU, I would take Aprils class again and again. I took her gcom class my freshman year and I'm now a junior and taking on of her classes for fun. She is hilarious, I actually look forward to going to her class. She extremely personable and easy to talk to.

Love her!!! She is such a great professor. She always finds a way to make her lectures interesting. There aren't many test just 2 and the final. Definitively a class I always look forward to.

I loved April. She is such a sweetheart and is so quirky and funny. Lectures are just her sitting up front and talking but she will repeat anything you ask her to so notes can be super precise, and she lets class out early almost every time. She never took attendance. She allows you to have full papers with you when giving speeches.

I didn't mind waking up super early every day to come to April's class. She is funny yet intelligent. While she is a tough grader, she is till fair. Do yourself a favor and take this class.

She's beyond chill and hilarious. Constantly had the entire class laughing while still being an effective teacher. Her speech projects were actually fun and I loved the group I was assigned to work with. Tests were basically straight from her notes, but there are only two of them. If you show up and do everything, you'll definitely get a B.

Great teacher. Classes are all lecture, but she is hilarious and always gives funny examples of everything. There are only 2 tests and 2 presentations, which are not bad. If you attend class, and study for tests and do well on presentations, you will do just fine. She is also always willing to help!

Great teacher and provides a lot of humor in her lecture. Delivers the information very clearly in lectures and also gives a lot of useful feedback after doing class speeches. She normally lets class out early. Good class, I would recommend.

April is one of the best professors I've had. She's literally a teenager in a 40 year old's body. Her lectures will make you laugh so much, she wears flip flops every day, and assigns very interesting speeches. Although class was cancelled a lot for reasons she couldn't control, I really feel that she did an amazing job of teaching!

I loved April. She's really funny and made class interesting. There are two speeches that make up a large portion of your grade, and she gives good feedback on them. Overall, I really enjoyed her class, definitely take her class if you can.

April is amazing. Group presentations are not graded harshly as long as you put in the effort. Her lectures are funny and she gives examples that everyone can relate to in order to grasp the concepts well. Read the chapters and you will pass her 2 tests. I would definitely recommend taking this course with her!

GCOM, now SCOM 123, is one of those classes that you don't want to have to work for because its a mandatory course, but you have to in order to do well. April makes it bearable though. Lectures can feel long asf, but she's absolutely hilarious. She's cancelled a number of times and lets out early. Two tests, two presentations. Take her!

April is awesome! She made me laugh so hard I cried a few times during the semester. She made SCOM really fun and painless. The only hard part was the tests. They are nothing like the study guide she gives, make sure to read the textbook and you should do fine. Definitely recommend!

This class is supposed to be super easy. April doesn't make it harder, she sets you up to succeed on all tests and presentations as long as you are clear on the rubric and know what to do. But the thing is she canceled a lot of classes but when it came time for the final it was bad to say the least. The final is SO hard and the study guide isn't it

She is a great teacher and super funny! You need a 95 to get an A but she isn't a hard marker. Always lets out class early and cancels it every once in a while. Tests are usually based off the notes and not that hard.

Best prof you can get for SCOM, the nicest, funniest woman and she has cancelled class like 4 times which has been nice too. Makes the environment not scary for you, and understands that you have a lot of other stuff going on.
