She's mean, rude, and egotistical. Brags how she has 4 degrees but obviously doesn't have a degree in teaching. Good luck trying to learn from class cause she's like a machine who just reads off the slide and never explains anything in comprehensible terms. Fine one on one, but if you want a good grade good god don't take her class.

Mrs. Lanz is very smart, but not when it comes to teaching students. She tells you what to do not HOW to do it. Stats is hard alone, mix this with a HORRIBLE teacher and the outcome is a C - in class (actually trying). I am a 3.7 GPA student and this teacher was the most difficult, rude, egotistical professor in my 3 years at GCU. HARDEST PROF.

I have a 3.97 GPA with all A's and I am failing her class with a D, b/c she accused me and several other students of cheating (NONE of us cheated on the paper). Terrible teacher that is unwilling to help and painfully rude when you ask for help. Also is a completely unfair grader, me and my friend worked on a project together (separate submissions) and had similar answers on all of them, and we had difference of 15 points out of a 100.

GCU needs to do something about her. she is never in office hours and is not interested in helping. Another math professor helped me when she wasn't there and I learned more in 10 minutes with him than anything she has done. She blames us for needing help when she is the problem. She takes participation but sometimes she doesn't. She takes off participation for not getting 100 on quizzes. Change instructors.

In order to get participation points who have to get the work she gives out in class correct.

I have never had a problem with a professor before until I met her. If you have her switch out as soon as possible. She changes rubrics and grades very unfairly. She is never helpful in answering questions and will make you feel stupid if you don't understand. Statistics is hard anyways but she made it way worse.

One of the worst math professors I have ever received. I transferred in late because I was taking the course online and wasn't understanding the material but I might as well have stayed in the online course. She does not explain things clearly and doesn't seem to care. If you can't switch from her either drop out like I did or find a math tutor.

Avoid at any cost! Instructions were so not clear and no matter how hard you try and/or work with tutors, your grade for projects/papers/quizzes will not exceed 85%. This professor would do anything to lower your grade.

This professor is by far the worst I've seen among my classes and my peers. Anyones taking this class DO NOT GET LANZ, she is a horrible teacher. Exaggeration, no. She never has a schedule for in class quizzes, they're always pop quizzes. Attendance score is determined from your quiz score in class. Absurd amounts of H/W that is worth near nothing.

Very difficult grader on projects and added her own criteria that was not written in the instructions or included in the rubric. Nice lady in normal conversation, but not in a teacher role.

I have had Professor Lanz for my statistics class, and I failed miserably. She can be a little fun at times, but that changes very quickly if you don't understand the lesson. She expects you to already know the content being taught. If you don't know it, she does not care and will just move on.

Professor Lanz started off pretty cool. I asked her a question about the material that I didn't understand and she sighed, said "We went over this In class already." And then refused to help me. during the final, she accused me of cheating and wouldn't listen to the actual scenario and failed me, offered the supplement then blocked it from me.

I have never met a more rude professor. I do not know how someone has not reported her already and why GCU has her employed. She is not a good teacher, takes off points for the silliest things, and if she doesnt like you she will be rude and condescending towards you. Participation is based off pop quizzes that are on new material she barely covered and quizzes are in class on paper (only math class that does this is hers). I left class feeling sad, angry, and alone in the world. Her teaching was nearly incomprehensible and managed to confuse topics that I had already learned. The one bright spot in my calc experience were my brothers and sisters marching along with me in this dark place. Changing my major and dropping the class was my best collegiate decision.

Calculus, in general, is already hard so it doesn't mix with a teacher who laughs at you if you continue to ask important questions in class so you can clearly understand, a teacher who says she does office house but when you get there she just looks at you like your dumb.

Does not really help with homework if it is difficult. Tests are extremely hard. Be prepared for C's on tests. There are many better calc teachers at GCU. Take my advice and switch.

Terrible instructor! She does not help any students in class because she lectures the whole class period. Her form of teaching is to put you on the spot in front of the whole class and humiliate you. Every class she has you do a problem that she just showed you for participation points. If you don't do the problem, she will deduct points.

I had a B+ in the class, until the day before the second exam. Due to the stress of the exam and studying late that night for said exam, I slept through my alarm! I had her class from 9 am to 11:00 am. I woke up at 10:45 and raced over to the classroom from my dorm. She wasn't there and is now allowing me to take the exam with a -60% reduction!

I took her MAT-154 class and Professor Lanz was just an absolute piece of terror. I am an Education major and I should know what a great teaching style is and let me tell you she did not even have a good one. I have not even completed the course yet and I am very disappointed in the professor. If you attempt to ask questions she doges them and avoids answering the question directly. The IA in my class acts the same way. It is really frustrating because you then feel unprepared to complete the assignment given. Would not recommend. Extremely frustrating

I would never take any math class with her again. The worst class I have taken in GCU so far with the worst grade. she is bad at grading. she always wants you to solve with her own way even if you know another way to solve the problem. she will quiz you every class for participation and let me tell you its freaking hard

She might have that nice "DR" before her name but she is NOT a teacher/professor. She has no sympathy for situations or people who go to school online because they obviously have busy lifestyles. This professor is the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. She does not teach a single thing. She writes the topics and problems out on the board but excepts you to know everything. She does not go through how to solve and when you ask questions she answers in a disrespectful tone making you feel stupid.

Lanz is one of my hardest professors. She is not very clear in what to expect for homework and there is never any class time to go over anything on our homework. She takes forever to grade tests and quizzes and is pretty good at giving points where she can IF you show your work. Her class is very lecture heavy and there are lots of notes to follow.

Dont take this class if you like yourself. Lanz is the worst math professor on campus that does not care about anybody but herself and makes jokes like my boyfriend is black so i can say that. She is not very understanding of students who are busy. If you can, drop this class asap!

the work in class and homework was so different from the tests, to the point where it was stuff we were not taught. on the last class of the semester, she told us she would be there if we had any questions about the final project. i waited an hour and she never showed up. i begged for help in her messages and got no response whatsoever.

She is not very good at teaching whatsoever, and the only reason I got the A is that I would teach myself how to do the material using Youtube and other online resources. She is consistently rude, in no way empathetic to students and their needed accommodations, and does not seem to understand what is on the bi-weekly quizzes as she only teaches (at most) half of the material that the class gets tested on. Do not take if you want to stay sane.

Not a good professor. Half the time the stuff taught in class is not on the quiz or is 100x more confusing. Be ready to teach yourself if you want to pass the class.

I'm about to graduate and I'm coming back to leave this review because she was easily the most unenjoyable teacher I had my entire time at GCU. I took her class freshman year and she made my introduction to college horrible with snarky remarks and being just plain rude when asked questions along with extremely critical grading.

This professor denied my request to reschedule my final exam to go to my father's funeral. I asked on the second day of class, so I thought I was being reasonable. I genuinely enjoy math, but this was the only class I ever received a C in so far in college (currently going into my 3rd year with a 3.46 GPA). I would highly recommend avoiding them.

The most incompetent instructor I've ever seen. She wasn't ready for any of the sessions. She was easily confused by the simplest questions from the students. And in the middle of the semester, she left and the school was looking for a new instructor for two weeks.
