Professor Guo is a very intelligent man. He knows his physics and he knows it very well. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Make you sure you attend class, participate, ask questions, do homework, and you will be solid. An A is easily achievable if you put in the work. You won't regret taking this class!!!!

Professor Guo is a great physics instructor. He knows his physics very well. He really cares about his students and them learning the material. He will stay after class for as long as you need him to and explain concepts and problems. His exams are straightforward. Take Professor Guo. You will not regret it!

Professor Guo is really boring. This was his first semester teaching and you could tell. If I were you, I would take someone else. Yes, he is helpful, but you still can't understand what he is talking about. I had to teach myself.

The previous rates amaze me!!! He is a great guy, and he knows is stuff but reaaaalllyyy hard to understand. You will have to teach yourself. Those who are giving great comments are those who knew how to cheat which at the end of the semester he found out. Im pretty sure he will not let that happen again. Horrible class! Never again! Got a B btw!

He really cares about the students. If you come to class, pay attention, do the homework and ask questions you will do well. The labs instruction is a bit skimpy but not really tested.

Professor Guo is an excellent teacher. He has a true passion for physics which is evident through his lectures. I enjoyed his class this semester. Take careful notes and make sure you do the homework. By doing so, you will do well on the exam. As a petroleum engineering major, I feel confident that Professor Guo has prepared me to succeed. Professor Guo is very helpful the material is hard it takes time you have to read over and over, if you do the HW and lab you should be fine. the professor is willing to stay late or come earlier and give you his time to go over the material again , dont be shy ask questions,

Tests are not easy, yet the advantage is that tests are based on examples and homework. He gives points for attendance. I will take him again for phys 2326. Also the textbook is the 7th Ed of Phys for which makes it more affordable than the latest one.

Professor Guo explains the material very well. He makes some hard chapters much easier to understand. He is willing to help. The tests are not hard as long as you attend the class and do the homework, since all the questions are from the class example and HW.

Professor Guo was a good teacher who makes the classroom a learning environment. If you show up every day and do all the homework you will do fine. He doesn't put up with rude people who are having side conversations in the class or cheat. I look forward to taking him again for university physics II.

He's a awesome Prof. University physics 2 is hard but he explain it in a way that you'll understand the concepts. Take his class because he will prepare you for future classes such as engineering courses. Great Prof should have taken him for university physics 1. So I'm already taking both phys 1 and 2 sounds hard but taking it with prof guo made is easy for me . 3 exams and hws. His exams are over whatever he covers in the class and hws. Definitely suggest taking his class

Professor is awesome. Physics is hard, so don't expect to be lazy. However, he is there to help you even after class, if you need him. 3 tests with 40% for attendance and homework. He gives reviews before each test. Tests are bases on the homework and textbook's examples that he had talked in class, so make sure you do not skip class.

I took Professor AQ for both Physics I and II. I just took his summer class for Physics II. He is a very nice guy, but the language barrier and disorganization takes away from his teaching ability. He is always there to help his students, but often people just do not ask. I recommend his class, and his exams are pretty straight forward. Just study!

Took AQ for Phys 2 during summer. Physics is a challenging subject. Taking it during summer was even more challenging. Prof AQ is a very nice guy but difficult to understand because of his accent. He is there to help and answer questions. His exams can be difficult if you don't study but pretty straight forward if you pay attention and study.

Yells at students. Refuses to give back lab grades. Hard to understand. Does not follow book. He said "If you follow this book, you will fail this course." So if you don't understand his lectures, you have nothing to study. Refuses to complete examples, rarely does numerical ones. Hard tests, grades unreasonably and inconsistently. No test reviews.

Dr. Guo is a great physics professor. He really cares about his students. He encourages us to ask questions and gives extra credit for showing interest and participating in class. His homework and tests aren't hard, and he explains the material in the easiest and simplest way possible. I plan to take him for Physics 2 this summer.

Professor Guo cares for his student and is one of the most capable Physics professors I have met. He is very knowledgeable about this subject and has 20 years of Phyics Research together with 15 years of teaching under his arm. Hard questions hardly bother him, if at all. He is very clear in his explanation and tests are basic concepts check.

If you are from the ones who procrastinates, beware. If you are willing to work, AQ is the best. Don't rely on textbook, he will teach to do the problems his way, not the textbook way. It actually is easy and makes sense but that also means that you have to pay attention in class. Do that and an hour of work after class should easily get you an A.

His test are like the homework he gives you but not exactly like it, it has twist to it. I should've FAILED his class but I made a C out. I failed the 1st test horrible on (F) and the 2nd test failed but he over looked something and I told him so I made a (C) and the final I know I fail because I didn't finish make sure you do the problems he does

Prof. Guo does have an accent but he is understandable. Book is "required" but his method/notes were much simpler and easier to comprehend,very important to attend class! Encourages participation and duly notes it when grading exams. He's right-handed so be sure to sit on the left side of classroom (you'll thank me later.) Overall great professor!

I was incredibly lucky to register for professor Guo's class. All other classes were full. Guo turned out to be one of the best professors that I have had in my college experience. He really cares that you learn the material, and he doesn't want to trick students. He's not trying to fail anyone. Teaches the subject thouroughly, and tests basics.

Professor Guo is pretty great compared to some university professors I've had. He grades leniently on free-response exams. He allows a page of notes on exams. No final. Homework and extra credit beef up your grade. Lecture is critical, and textbook was optional but definitely helpful. Physics II is tough but not impossible!

Great professor, I took his summer course and felt confident in my learning ability and his teaching ability. You only need the book to view examples and do the homework. If you take decent notes you'll pass easily. Extra credit helps a lot. Ask questions, participate, do the homework and you'll ace the class! Tests are homework and notes based.

I don't feel this professor is preparing me at all for future physics courses. He teaches his method only which isn't always by the book. He'll take off points from your notes check grade if you copy the books equations and examples instead of his (even if his are wrong compared to the book). He writes his own quizzes and tests so his methods only.

If you can learn on your own or already know physics, you'll get an A. but you'll have to do a bunch of homework for a too-high portion of your grade. has stupid grading requirements. counts you off even if you get the answer right. The book was free online if you look, and even then you don't need it to do the homework

Professor Guo, 1st off is a super nice guy. That being said, 'Don't do it'. Now, If you're good in Physics & probably his class schedules work, then, by all means, take him. But for those that struggle save yourself the stress. Btwn the deep accent, poor (dry) teaching, and testing style, this class is a pain. If you need that 'A' dont do it.

He's a nice person but not a good professor. You have to learn his methods, so the book will only help so much. Doesn't fully workout his examples. Warning, those examples he barely goes over are the ones that show up on the test. He'll sketch the problem but won't work it out.

I dont know how he's gotten some good review. He horrible at teaching. Test wise if you do not show every step he take alots of points off. I really try my best for the class and i have never received a 18 in a Exam. Most of my class was failing and he would state we were his better class. If your not a pro in Physics would not recommend him.

This is the first poor review I have ever given after completing 70 hours at HCC. Lectures and class notes are absolutely useless due to his bad English and poor handwriting. Only take this course if you are willing and able to teach yourself the material.

Professor did not provide students with test results or to review for final . Tests where not super difficult, however, what made it difficult was not knowing what to review on. Have to pay close attention to lectures otherwise you wont understand a thing! Do not recommend this professor at all!

This was a very unpleasant class for me. The teacher was barely understandable and would lash out on particular students if they asked us questions. The way the class was taught was very disorganized. The teacher would give me the wrong grade on several occasions. Please if you need to take physics to do not take this teacher at all costs.

This class was difficult, but the teacher laid out every step you need to get an A. In the classes before quizzes and exams, he told us what types of problems we could expect and worked through the problems that we would see. You do need to study with this Professor but overall he was great. He does has a strong accent but he's understandable.

Amazing prof! I knew I was not good at Phys before taken his class. After two lectures, there were no worry at all. Lectures are well organized,very clear, always have reviews/summarize to help you remember. He teaches in a way to make you actually understand. Just take notes on classes and work on that, then get A easily! Definitely recommend!

Prof Guo is a fair grader. Starting class he was a little difficult to understand, but as class progressed he made clear his intentions. You'll get a good grade in his class if you attend and look over your notes periodically. Everything on his tests and quizzes have been mentioned in his notes. With this in mind, you shouldn't need the book.

Prof. Guo did a great job teaching a tough subject. Lectures are easy to understand. His labs help you learn the topics covered in class. He gives opportunity for extra credit and offers additional help if needed. His methods for some of the more difficult topics are helpful and easy. Read the book, go to class & do the homework. If you go to class and take good notes, you'll get a good grade. I honestly only used the book for clarifications on a couple of topics. Prof Guo only tests you on examples given throughout lectures. This professor knows the material he is teaching very well. He organizes his lecture so that as long as you are attentive to his lecture, you should follow along well. I have been studying for the MCAT and taking his class over the circuits helped a lot. He does give pop quizzes, but his grading criteria is very clear on the syllabus.

Awesome professor. Took PHYS2325 (university physics) with him back two years ago. Explains everything clearly, accent is not a problem. Cares a lot about his students, ready to help outside of class. Coming to class is important) as well as doing the homework. Would definitely recommend to take him. bad reviews lazy students. All the information you will need for quizzes and tests will be written on the board. AQ does it his way simplifies equations to make it easier on you. He grades hard because if you miss a step-the whole problem will be wrong. AQ is available anytime for help and is understanding of students life outside of class.

Professor Guo is the best teacher in Physics at Hccs. Do not listen to the other lazy student! He made Physics is simple and easy to understanding. He also really cares each students. Awful; does not provide any information about the final exam (I didn't even know if a scantron was needed). He expects you to memorize all the formulas, but doesn't tell you that. He told the class that the final consisted of one question, but there were 13 pages worth of questions. Grades lab reports based on how nice it looks and not the content.

AQ is great at explaining the theory behind physics. However, his accent can be a bit heavy, so it's important that you read the material before you come to class to make sure you fully absorb the lecture. He grades fairly and gives a-lot of partial credit. If you put in the effort you will get an A. The examples he chooses are often funny.

I think he is a good professor, and I'm planning to take him for university physics 2. it might get confusing during his lecture because I did not study ahead of time. He doesnt speak English, the language barrier is the main problem. He says that asking questions will give bonus points at the end but anytime anyone asked a question he got very defensive and wouldn't even answer it. He stands right in front of what he's writing and basically only teaches to half of the class. Please take elsewhere, like really.

Has an accent, but I took his 5 week lab class, so his accent may affect a lecture more harshly. Otherwise, he seems intimidating and strict at first, but is very clear with what he wants. Just make sure labs look nice and are semi detailed and you will get a 100. Lab final looks hard but he gives 50 bonus points. No reason to get below an A.

I took this professor for a 5 week summer class and I absolutely hated it. He was extremely rude and treated us like we were dumb. He says if you ask him question and use his time he will give you bonus point. But instead he got mad when people asked questions and didn't want to talk to you if you tried to meet when him after class.

I took prof AQ for both physics 1401 and 1402 and he is by far the best professor to take physics with. He is very "DISCIPLINED" and expects the same from his students. He knows his stuff and it is very obvious he does not teach with anything at all its all in his head. He can be funny at times and serious at times. enroll in his class and learn!!!

I did not enjoy this teacher at all. He gives no theory to back up what hes explaining. Youre expected to learn everything based off examples he gives in class. Hes very disrespectful as well. When you ask him to repeat himself or explain more, he just says that our math is weak, thats why we dont understand the material. Do not take him.

I took AQ for my Physics I credit and regret it heavily. While he does care and want to be a good professor, the fact of the matter is that he isn't - The language barrier poses a huge problem, and his approach to teaching the material doesn't really work. He does a lot more showing than teaching. He gives 100s if you look like you tried on the HW

He gives you everything you need to succeed: Handouts, previous students notes, a cheaper older text to buy ($25), & many examples. I stayed after class & asked questions. I went to reviews. Professor AQ is a wonderful Physicist and an excellent Professor who emanates a down to earth philosophy. From day one he tells you that you need to work hard to be successful in the course. For every hour spent in class one should meet it with 3 hours study-time.

The lecture of Professor Guo is pretty organized and concise. The course materials are well prepared and inspring. not only summarizing the key knowledge points for each chapter, but also providing comparison tables for several knowledge points to avoid confusion. He would reponse your questions after class by email and offer extra credits.

He totally speaking nothing resourceful, and also frequently asking students in his class to use him. Im like WHAT? Professor Guo tells you upfront what he expects from you. If you are willing to put in the hours to study, do the homework and ask questions I definitely recommend! I am a average student but got an A in both his courses, he is very straightforward on what he will test you on. Very fair grader. Overall amazing professor!

Took PHYS 1401 5 week summer course. First off major language barrier and messy handwriting. I had to sit in the front row to understand. Gets frustrated when you ask questions even if its from his own mistake. Tests and quizzes are very unclear of what you were supposed to find. Would not recommend unless u have strong physics background.

Professor Guo is a great Physics instructor. Professor is very clear in the lectures about course material to be graded on. If you study what he teaches , you will make a very good grade. His quizzes are great practice problems for major exams. Professor Guo is a very organized instructor and teaches Physics clearly and straight forward.

I took both 1401 & 1402 with AQ & he is the BEST!! Any bad review on here is from someone who doesn't do the homework or pay attention. Go to class, sit in the front, and you can't fail. He genuinely wants you to learn and understand physics, and tells you what will be on the tests. He's also really funny - I think I laughed out loud every day

I was working full time during a 5 week summer course and was still able to get an A. His tests are very fair and resemble to examples and homework questions he gives you. Just turn in everything he assigns, participate and ask questions and youll do fine!

I took this class during the summer 2 session and studied the examples he gives. He will point out examples that will be in the test. Bringing the book to class to look at the examples he talks about helped me understand his accent better. Overall, I probably studied 1-2 hours after class and was fine for the tests.

Great Professor! Homework and lab reports are straightforward and not super difficult. If you do them in the format he wants youll get an easy 100. Quizzes are super easy and open book. Exams are very similar to homework and quizzes. Highly recommend!

Professor AQ is one of the best science professors in HCC. I took phys I and II with him and I got almost 100 on every thing. He is very nice, patient and his teaching method is very clear. He tries to help his students in any possible ways. Of course, it is not an easy pass class if you don't attend his lecture or put effort on it. Love him!

Professor AQ is an extremely knowledgeable person! He teaches in a very straight forward and simple manner. Will give you exam reviews similar to the exam. There are homework assignments but those will help you understand the material. I would highly recommend Professor AQ to any STEM Majors!

He offers bonus points and so much opportunities to students who care and respect his class. He's such an amazing professor and he deserves a better rating. Professor Guo is not a good professor. I've tried numerous times to gain helpful feedback, from questions and concerns. His overall feedback is his confusion towards the question because he himself can not speak English to the finest form. His tests are not east, preparation for the exams are not specified at all. DONT TAKE.

AQ does not give helpful feedback to his students. During in-class lectures, his note-taking is all over the place. When preparing for the exams, he does not give a review nor gets into the specifics of what the tests will cover. For the exams, however, I will say it is what he says can come, but not consistent throughout the semester.

Took 5 week summer course. Assignments everyday. Do all the hw, they are just like the quizzes/tests. I hate physics but I left this class understanding it well. Pay attention in lecture, especially when he works problems copy his whole process down. He stresses basic concepts so you understand the logic, not just memorizing a process. Be dedicated

AQ was not helpful in his class. His class becomes a class where one has to implement his specific concepts and terminology into exams and quizzes. Then when it comes to prepping for certain exams, no review, no notes, just scribbled drawings on the board. He ls open to help, but his english is barely understandable and usually doesnt answer fully.

He gives alot of hw and in his online class there was a quiz basically every day. His quizzes/exams are very easy if you pay attention to the lectures and mainly go over his notes beforehand. All the questions on both quizzes and exams come from questions/examples given before in either hw/classnotes. Overall a lot of work but you should make an A

This review was pretty hard for me. He is a super smart and really cares about students, but hes very serious about the subject and expects you to be as well. No MC questions and tons of HW/Quizzes. His exams are usually LDB/cam but he ditched it halfway through. He grades very tough and it is a very hard class with a language barrier.

I was so afraid to take Physics 2 because I'm not the best when it comes to sciences. I decided to take it the summer before my last year to graduation & I don't regret it. Pay attention & you will understand everything, he makes so INCREDIBLY SIMPLE to learn physics 2. His format is very simple w/ slight differences - Lectures = quiz = hw = exams.

There's so much extra credit and he makes everything in a simplified form. If you can't figure something out, he makes himself approachable to questions. If you don't understand a topic and you choose NOT to take advantage of the numerous times he asks if everyone's on the same page. Then you're just bad. Don't blame him if you suck.

Took him for physics 1401 and 1402, got an A in both courses. I was nervous at first because physics is a very intimidating class but professor AQ gave a lot of room for asking questions. Lots of work outside of class but homework and lecture prepare you for exams. Extra credit just for having camera on and participating. Great professor overall.

Professor Guo, or "AQ" as he tells us to call him, is very respectful and caring towards his student if there was a professor that I had to take for Physics, it would be him. He sometimes gets a bad rep because of how difficult the subject is. In all honesty, he tries his best to make Physics as bearable as possible, even for first timers.

I took Professor AQ for Physics I & II over the summer. The language barrier is a little tough the first day or so but after that you can quickly get the jist of what he's saying with no issue. He tries his best to make physics into a game or puzzle, which really helps you learn HOW to do physics. He knows how to make physics beginner friendly.

I am not great at physics, but professor aq sets up the class to help you pass. As long as you do the homework and quizzes you should be ready for the exams. Lecture is mandatory but it definitely helps alot with prepping for exams and homework. Still need to do plenty of studying to pass though.

Class is very disorganized coupled with the fact his accent is extremely hard to understand. The lab reports are confusing and I had to guess what he even wanted us to do. My advice would be to skip this professor and take someone else. His class structure is difficult and confusing with no clear instructions. Questions are met with rude responses.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. You'll try and send him and email and he'll completely misunderstand what you are trying to tell him, there definitely is a huge language barrier, he is very hard to understand and borderline rude.

I have taken professor AQ for 2 semesters and he simplifies things down very well. Physics is a very difficult course but as long as you PAY ATTENTION and write down absolutely everything he does in his lecture notes!!! you will be okay :) participate + ask questions + be interested/show that you are trying your best.

His lectures are great but no exam reviews and HW questions are nothing like the tests. Only 2 attempts for HW and QZ. Too many exam questions for the amount of time given and you can't go back to previous questions on exams and I like to be able to skip and come back to problems.

The #5 reviews are all lies. His exams are less than 15 questions, his notes barely help with half of HW/quizzes, he refuses to give extra practice problems or an idea of what will be on exam. Questions on exam were barely reviewed. He's adamant about having your camera on for extra credit in addition to other EC opportunities. He's rarely helpful.

He has a huge language barrier when it comes to addressing questions within the class. He will most likely misunderstand you and scold you for your question. No reviews and unclear grading criteria. I took Professor Guo for Physics 2, and his class was easier than my Physics 1 class. His class is very straightforward—just follow his instructions, and you can earn a good grade. He offers a lot of extra points (about 8% on the final grade), and his exams are similar to his quizzes and homework but much easier. Take him!

His lecture style is very clear. HW, quizzes, and exams are exactly the same as practice questions from his lectures. Yes, there could be a language barrier but not to the point that it affects your understanding of materials. You'll get extra credits if you show up on time with a camera on. He's honestly a great lecturer. Prof AQ was great at breaking down complex topics and his lecture was easy to follow. He's also responds to emails regarding questions on the material and is very helpful after class. It's not an easy class but the tests were straightforward. I recommend him!

I highly recommend Dr. Guo as a Physics instructor. As a non-traditional student who has often struggled with Physics, I found his teaching style exceptionally clear and supportive. He uses traditional board writing during lectures and also provides additional review videos recorded outside of class, which greatly enhance understanding.

He explains how formulas are derived but never how to use them. What he teaches in lectures differs from homework and exams. Attendance is mandatory for extra points. He is very stubborn and asks “if his lecture speed is fine?” but rejects suggestions, saying there isn't enough time. I don't recommend him.

Cool guy, but made the class stressful. Had to cross-check lectures with slides since he was hard to follow at times. Quizzes and homework matched lectures, but the open-ended exams didn't. Ignored student feedback (when he asked for it) and refused extra time the day before an exam when Canvas was down, cited it was "too late". Don't recommend.

Professor Guo deserves a better score than he has. If you're willing to put in the work required, this class will teach you a lot and you will enjoy it. But you'll need to drill problems and understand the theory. Do you want to learn Physics? Take this class. Want to *not learn Physics* and still get an A? Not likely. Expect to WORK and LEARN.

I took Physics 1401 with Professor Guo, and he was a great instructor. His lectures were clear, and the recorded videos on Canvas made studying more manageable. He gives partial credit on exam questions if you show your work and offers extra credit for attendance and participation at the end of the semester, which can really help your grade.

Wouldn't necessarily recommend. The lecture is hard a little cause you need to be focused because of his accent, but it something that is doable. The hard part are the exams, they are different from the homework so you have no way to practice properly. In my class, more than half withdrew so you know what to expect.
