Best Prof every! Makes everything clear. He puts his students first and provides as much support as possible. He is fair, but wants every to succeed.
Arash is one of the best profs I've ever had. He takes his lectures to the next level to help his students and gives amazing feed backs after testings. He is so helpful and clear.
Amazing professor, cares about his students
AMazing prof
AMAZING prof! He loves his students and wants everyone to excel. He ensures that you can succeed even if math isn't your favourite course.
One of the nicest prof. No surprises on the test. He post previous exams which are very similar. Follow his examples and steps in class, they are pretty much 100% what you should be doing during exam. I didn't practice I just understood his steps and review past exam the night before and I got an A+. Easy class easy life.
Friendly person who delivers a clear lecture. Arash provides class notes in the form of power points, hand written notes and old exams. In class, he does not use power point but hand writes the lecture (big bonus) and writes out every step.
AMAZING Prof! He cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed as much as possible.
Arash is the Man! If you do not take this course or any courses with this guy, it is truly your loss. Hands down one of the best profs I've had at Ryerson. He would pretty much spoon feed you the answers for all tests and exams, and I don't understand how some students would still complain, made no sense to me.
One of the fantastic profs I have ever had ! I respect him.
Hands down one of the few profs at Ryerson who cares about the students. He doesn't try to trick you or give you random question on tests and final. Attend his class, follow along, and do the examples he tells you. He post pervious years tests and exams for extra help. Make sure to attend each class, he does a great job on explaining concepts.
Arash truly sets up his students for success. If you do the homework he assigns you will do well in the course! Will be taking him again for linear algebra
Amazing professor!
Best prof i have ever had. He makes it really simple and honestly he's just the best. No words to describe how amazing he is.
LOVE his teaching regiment. You will clearly learn what he will put on tests if you attend his lectures, so I highly recommend you do! His examples are extremely clear, with an abundance of practice questions to tackle. His easygoing personality as well makes him very likeable and approachable. No surprises on his tests either!
Best prof ever!!!he is very polite and you will love his class. An amazing prof students can ever have!!!
the best calculus prof I have ever came across.
He cares for his students to do well. He provides examples and practice tests that are very useful.
Dude is the best. He gives amazing clear notes and gives students lots of resources to prep for tests. Even though his classes feel easy, you actually learn a lot and are well prepped for higher level courses. Wish he could teach all of my classes.
Great Teacher. Taught us very well throughout the semester and provided many opportunitites to practice either through the online home work system or through questions given inclass. Each test of his was exactly what was taught in class.
Easy A. Easy tests and final
Arash is a wonderful genuine and caring individual. However, he is not the best at teaching. He moves very quickly and does not thoroughly explain concepts. The midterms were not incredibly difficult because he put on the types of questions that were in our notes. However, the final exam was very difficult and had new content.
Professor Islami is very kind and approachable. This course is basically a review of grade 12 functions and calculus with some new lessons. His tests were straight off of the examples done in class and the webassign assignments. His exam was a little difficult, but it was fair.
Arash gave good examples of the problems. He gives students the direct questions from the exams as homework questions so you are prepared for what he will ask, he seemed to care and help out every student in the classroom and he taught the course very well, actually found ways to make calculus not super boring.
Great instructor, explains well, easy to learn.
Prof Arash makes the course very easy for students! He wants to see everyone do well. The midterms and finals are exactly like the ones given for practice. Concepts are taught very clearly. I will definitely be taking another course with Prof Arash! If you enjoy math, this is the easiest A+ you will get!
Here's the thing. This course is EXTREMELY overhyped. If you had a 75+ in high-school calculus, expect to do better here. It's literally the exact same thing, with a few exceptions. Arash may get a lot of hate but you'll rarely find a teacher who gives tests with the exact same question as the handout. Consider yourself lucky.
This prof's exams and tests are easy, but the thing is, he can't explain concepts really well. He does each an every step in class but it's a bit hard for him to explain. Overall, the exam was really hard, but he boosted everyone's mark so that was blessed. One of the nicest and easiest prof to talk to.
The sample exams are fairly similar to the real exams, study those and you should get a decent grade. Course material is fairly small and easy to understand.
he teaches at a good pace and class and ensures that everyone understands the concepts. the midterms were straight from the class lessons and he used examples from the textbook. the final exam was the opposite; there were questions we had never seen before. entered the exam with an A and ended off with a B. good prof, but the exam was very hard.
He is the best person to teach this course! He provides many practice tests to help give students some guidance as what will be tested. During lectures, he mainly covers concepts and examples that is needed. The textbook should only be used for practice questions. He is very accommodating and understanding. Cannot recommend him enough.
never seen a prof who cares this much. sometimes too much to a point where he would get upset if you people talked in class or didnt do well on tests. do the homework and the examples sheet which he gives in class -> A+. tests and exams have questions from examples he did in class. he doesnt lecture so read the book if needed. he just does examples
Easy 4.33. Just show up to class and only review the handouts since he takes exact same questions, plus tells you which ones he's putting on the test. Lucky to have him
Great Prof. Do the practice questions and listen because he tells you what questions will be on the exam and tests. Really cares about his class and I feel lucky to have had him.
One of the best profs ever. Never knew this kind of professors even exists. He wants to see all students do good.
Easy A for a PR course. He goes at a reasonable pace ensuring each and every student understands the material. He does not bell curve but he will post practice tests and midterms which should be good enough to prepare you. His test averages are usually in the high 80s. Even if you don't attend class, the course is still manageable.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT RYERSON!
One of the best Professors at Ryerson. Very Polite and Understanding. I was lucky to be in his class.
Honestly a gem. Probably the nicest prof at Ryerson, he genuinely cares for his students and he's a great guy to know personally as well. Always accessible outside class and will try to help you as much as he can, definitely take again!!
If you did well in calculus in High school, you are guaranteed at least an A-. Tests were easy. Final was a bit tougher but you will be okay if you spend some more time studying for it
Such a great guy! Very straight forward material as well!!
He's a Gem!!! Sweetest prof at Ryerson.
He is a very nice guy. I'm so lucky to have him as my QMS prof in my first year!
He's a prof that cares about his students and his tests are good and you can do well if you study
Terrible. Hardest exam I've ever done
His exams are super hard. he always does simple examples in class but on his exam he makes them really difficult. Try to understand the concepts instead of relying on his notes or textbook. BE PREPARED FOR HIS EXAMS
He's a great prof who cares about his students. His exam was straight from the book. It was kind of hard but if you studied, you could easily pass.
I genuinely thought he was a good prof. All these first years need to realize that this is university and that our prof isn't supposed to baby us. The final exam was very hard, but it was completely fair. Everyone is complaining about how it isnt because he didn't teach us things, but he taught everything that was needed for the exam.
His tests and assignments are not really hard to work on because his tests are based on his lectures but his exam was hard but I believe that if work on the concepts more and more then you should be fine. i would definitely take his class again.
His midterms were pretty straightforward. His final was a bit hard but it was fair as it was based on what he taught in class. He's a really good prof who genuinely cares about his students.
He is actually a really caring professor. His class is super easy and his tests are based on his class work. He tries to make the class fun and also he cares about his students because he gives clues on what is going to be on exam.
Literally one of the nicest people I've ever met
answers any questions you may have and has a very kind personality!!!
amazing prof . Gives steps to solutions easy and is really helpful. Be ready for the exam its hard af but other than that a great teacher.
Actually blessed prof trust. just ppl anxious for final marks. Accessible outside class, nice and great lectures.
Pretty decent prof, his 2 tests and his assignments were very straightforward from the worksheets he provides in class. However, his final was a bit tougher and require more time for the questions. At the end of the day, he blessed all of us and I am thankful to have him teaching this course.
This professor really does care about his students and it's transparent through his teaching methods and boost of marks. The first two midterms and the web assigns are easy but the final exam is very challenging. That being said, just because of the final exam is difficult doesn't change the impact of this course onto students.
A nice professor, who got us to actually think during the final exam; unlike in the midterms, where we can just imitate what he does in class and get 100%
Web assign gives you an easy 10%. Overall the course is just a review from grade 12 and the lectures are just review. Both midterms are very easy as long as you understand the concepts. Final exam is very tough, nothing like the midterms, but he bell-curved because the class average of the exam was poor.
easy a
For a math course, Arash did not teach very much. He went through examples from the textbook in class and that's pretty much it. He was a very caring prof and raised everyone's final marks (because a lot of people failed). The exam was VERY difficult. Prepare to learn all of the material on your own. If math isn't your strong suit, avoid him.
One of the most caring human beings on the planet. He truly cares about each and every single one of his students. He teaches by solving textbook questions on the board. He doesn't do the greatest job at explaining sometimes because he expects you to know most of it. (It is grade 12 calc) But he is by far one of the best profs at Ryerson.
AMAZING prof. Goes above and beyond for students. Truly cares about your success. Funny yet informative during lectures. I took this class in the summer and had booked a vacation on the day of the final exam. He let me write it when I got back. Probably the best professor I've had at Ryerson
Easily one of the nicest profs I had this semester. Really nice and caring to his students and tries to help you as much as he can. He gives you specific questions to study that will appear on midterm and exam. Only annoying thing about this course are the webassigns - lots of questions just to get 1% on each of them
This course is mostly a review of calc which is the easy part. Once the prof attempts to teach new material, he just does the problems on the board no explanation.. Very poor for teaching new material which is dominant on the final exam.
QMS130 is a basically a review of high school functions and calculus. Islami teaches by going over examples, and when you have to learn new stuff, like in the last 2 chapters he is very confusing. The midterms were super easy, as he basically gives you a whole list of questions that will appear on the midterms and same goes for the final.
He's a great prof and teaches the lessons very well. It's easy to follow through and when people ask questions, he's always very helpful. He helped me lots with some WebAssign questions very easily. The final exam isn't as hard as people say it is, as long as you cover questions from every chapter, then the exam will be easy.
He teaches pretty well. The midterms were pretty straightforward. Make sure you really know all your stuff going into the exam though.
His lectures in this class just consist of him going over a question sheet based on the chapter you're learning. He goes at a decent pace but he doesn't explain the best lmao. He lets out a giggle after like every other sentence, but overall he makes sure everyone understands the content.
If you did good in calc in hs this course won't be too bad. I did not do calc for a long time and the prof just wrote answers on the board without much explaining. It was like go to class and copy answers for the worksheet. I decided to stay at home and work on the course alone and saw better results. Reviews are good but exam Questions are hard
Arash is an incredibly kind and caring prof! Even with his slight accent the way he teaches is clear and effective. If you come to class, practice the material (through webassign) and study hard you'll get a great mark. The tests and final exam were extremely fair! Overall I highly recommend Arash he is amazing!
He doesn't really explain much, but the majority of this course is just a recap from grade 12, so if you did ok in math, you'd be fine. He's willing to sit down with you and go over anything that you didn't understand, so make sure to go visit him if you're stuck. His finals are tough so make sure to get prepared.
Teaches you like he expects you to know it, but his tests are REALLY fair. He will tell you what questions to specifically study for the tests/exam. Hardest chapters are 6,11,12 & 13. 6 has financial word problems. The rest are the next step in derivatives(reversing dervishes to there original form). Tests and exams are all m/c(most of the HW too)
Amazing lecture and class was super easy. Let us out early every class and only taught what was important.
Arash is such a sweet prof and he truly cares about his students and wants them to excel in the course. He gives good reviews for midterms and finals but you also really have to put in effort to get a good mark.
He simply taught you everything you needed to know through numerous examples. He kept lectures short but was always clear about his teachings. Gives review questions that are very similar to the tests.
He is caring, wonderful and very considerate. Through Covid-19 he was the most helpful and prepared us in advance for all tests. I would have him again 100%
He is the best prof out there. He cares for his students very approachable. He gauges the students to see how fast or slow to go in his lecture and how detailed the explanation needs to be. If you're having a tough time go see him and talk to him he'll find ways to help you. You dont have to attend class but it'll help if you do.
AMAZING PROF. He really prepared you for the tests and exams. His lectures were short but he covered all the important things. He goes over questions in details and he is very accommodating. I really liked his teaching style. Whatever he taught was evaluated later on and he breaks things down for you if you don't un derstand.
the class as a whole is easy. he is not the best teacher, but the content is not hard. seems lost at times.
He is a very nice professor, takes up problems at a slow pace, and more than happy to answer questions. He also always ends classes one hour early too!
Great prof. He was great at explaining how to do different questions and went over them well. Also super nice and understanding.
Prof Islami is one of the best in the math department! He truly cares about his students and makes sure concepts are understood. This class was supposed to be with no live meetings BUT he went the extra mile and held meetings which were so helpful! Weekly quizzes and mylabs must be completed. 2 tests based on lectures. Will take again!
TAKE HIM OVER ANY OTHER QMS 110 PROF!!!!! I dropped out of clare chau's class and took it with him instead and there was a major difference with the level of stress I was feeling!!!! He explains concepts much easier and actually cares about his students!! TAKE HIM!!!!!
He's very friendly and replies to emails quickly. He goes through practice problems and explains it thoroughly. If you don't understand something, he would go over it again until you do.
One of the best professors I've ever had,he's a very nice professor and explains everything clearly.
Best professor!!!!!!!!!!
Top G, recommend this guy 1000%
This teacher does not teach at all had him for math 1013 and uses the most simplest examples and then makes us do 60 homework questions. The TA are the most hardest markers and never ask for regrades as he finds them annoying and will make your mark lower. I never felt so ignored in this class and regret taking it so much with this prof
I had Dr. Islami for MATH1013 at YorkU. He gives great explanations during lecture, provides tons of practice problems for studying, and also provides additional resources such as detailed, full solutions to problems on eclass. Dr. Islami cares about the success of his students and provides lots of resources for us to perform well in the course.
Very easy going and understanding
His lectures are very helpful. He is very easygoing and wants the best for his students.
Arash is one of those professors you wish could teach every class. He is so reasonable and cares about students. He follows a very clear outline and does many examples in class, easy and hard. He also gives practice questions before tests, which are extremely helpful. If you put in the effort, you will do very well with Arash. Go to his lectures!
Prof is "Ok" Im taking him for both Calc and Linear algebra. I had a death in the family, and couldnt take them in person, I had to leave the country ASAP. I had asked to take them online or through some other means. Says he will make my exam 80% and assignments 20% instead. The two tests were 20% each along with a final exam of 40%. SO ridiculous.
Great guy, took him for MATH1013 at York and he was always willing to clarify any misunderstandings. His notes were clear, legible, and pertinent, which I cannot say of other profs at York. All in all, very good.
Best prof I have ever had at york!! Responds to emails fast, corrects mistakes from TA, great lectures. He genuinely wants his students to succeed
Very nice guy. Class isn't too hard. He prefers if people show up and is sad if they don't.
Best professor for CQMS-110 hands down. Very nice and respectful. Highly recommend this Professor.
Arash is probably the best professor for this course. He truly wants his students to succeed and understand the content.
Best professor
Ignore the people complaining in the comments he's 10/10 best prof at York better than Michine & Igor do any Math course with this professor he's always at Math Lab in York tutoring students and giving students extra help for Math
As long as you study you will do well in his class.
Amazing prof.
For someone who is not the greatest at math, Professor Islami was a very good teacher to have. He explained concepts really well, told us what information to study and overall just wanted our success. A very kind and funny teacher, always trying to make students laugh in class. Definitely take QMS 130 with him
W prof. His lectures are very useful. He makes the course easy as long as you put some effort. The midterms are exactly what is covered in the lectures and in the study guides.
Great professor and does a bunch of examples in class to make sure you actually understand. Tough course but as long as you attend lectures and do the practice questions you'll be okay.
Islami Arash is the GOAT of the dept, I wish I could have him for all my QMS classes. He makes calculus easier and not the end of the world. A 10/10 professor who genuinely cares about his students. If you're worried about QMS130, he'll make it more manageable and less stressing. He's also clear about what will be on tests and the final.Recommended
Islami is really an amazing prof. He sets you up for success, is very clear on what will be evaluated on exams, and is the exact prof you'd want for this sort of course (a lot of calculus). Engaging, kind, is easily accessible. You must put in a lot of work however, the course material is very difficult, so attend and take notes.
He is literally the BEST PROF. As a student who struggles with math, I can promise you he knows what he's doing, look over his handouts before class and ask questions if you don't understand anything and he will go through them. He's a prof who actually cares about his students and literally, spoon-feeds you the material. Would take him again 100%
Amazing QMS 130 prof. He genuinely wants his students to succeed. He breaks down material so that it is easily understood. He's also very clear on what to expect on tests and exams. I 100% would take a course with him again. Attend the lectures and do the practice material and you'll succeed in the course.
Good teacher, made an effort to make a class students worry about less stressful. bonus points for always having the test and exam marks posted within 1-2 days.
Islami is one of the best professors I've ever had! He is incredibly caring and truly wants his students to succeed. He makes his lectures interesting and easy to follow. He gives lots of practice material that really helps with midterms and finals. I would definitely take him again—such an amazing teacher!
He gives students all the tools they need to succeed. He breaks everything down in a way that's so easy to understand, and his lectures are always engaging and helpful. He even made math fun, which is a huge accomplishment! Thanks to him, I felt super prepared for the final. He's the best I would take another class with him any day!!
I had this Professor for QMS 130 and enjoyed his teaching style. It was a 3-hour lecture but he let us leave early. The labs were easy you could take as many tries as you needed to get a perfect score. His exams were fair and closely matched the review materials he provided, so there were no surprises. Overall, a great professor.
Amazing prof for the course. He is clear about what will come in the exams and gives you practice material to prepare for it. As long as you do the practice material and understand it your golden. He also lets you bring cheat sheets. could not recommend him enough.
took this class for the 3rd time, and never have I thought I'd end up with A. the prof not only explained everything and gave all the resources possible but was very helpful when anyone asked questions. He also makes jokes and keeps class engaging. He also mentions in class if a question will be similar to the exam and very understanding prof.
class if you did well in high school math.J ust make sure you keep up with the work. he post the class notes and solutions in d2l. Also, he posts lots of examples and practice test so that you can be successful. I only attended less than half of the lectures and still got a good mark.if u have trouble with math, the pace he goes might be 2 fast 4 u
The best professor at TMU! Cares about his students so much. All the exams/midterms were straightforward as long as you practiced, kept up with the content, and practiced the files he posted. He explained all the content thoroughly, and the practice portion is up to the student. So, the more you practice the better.
Gave clear guidelines for all tests and Exams and stuck with them.
best prof ever. Love this guy
Really lenient, and his exams and tests were really straightforward as long as you did the practice for them. Also let you bring cheat sheets.
Professor Islami is a great teacher - very engaging and helpful. His lectures are clear, and he's always willing to explain things further. Using unstuck ai and the free textbook helped me stay on top of the material. Definitely recommend this class!
He is such an incredible professor, he writes his exams all based on what he has taught in lecture. I have got to say he is the best professor anyone can ever have. He actually cares for his students and slowly goes through all the information. It is not hard at all to get an A in his class, all you have to do is do his practice tests.
Amazing Math teacher, if you got him your in luck. I love islami
Islami is a great prof. Exams are based off what is taught, I don't have one complaint regarding him! Practice the material (notes) and you'll do solid.
His lectures are as clear as they could possibly be. He actually wants to know that the concept he's teaching is clicking with his class. Great prof. Great guy.
Best professor I have ever had. Lectures are amazing. Tests are based on what he teaches and gives for practice. Really nice guy who cares about his students. To summarize everything else, he's the goat. That's all. Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this review. If you did, hit that like button. Subscribe for more content. Hit that bell icon.
Islami is the goat, don't think I'll have a prof like him ever again. God bless you Islami and happy to have you in my TMU journey.
Professor Islami was genuinely one of the best I've had at TMU. Super knowledgeable, fair, and really cares about his students. I'm truly grateful. Thank you for being a part of my journey. You a legend
Professor Islami is genuinely the best prof I have ever had. He made the course easy and his lectures were easy to understand. Do yourself a favour and take him
Perfect professor in my opinion. The material and overall course he teaches is not supposed to be easy, but his lectures and the way he just teaches makes calculus make sense; it's actually crazy. He also knows how to talk to his students in person, and adjusting his teaching style to make sure everyone is on the same boat.
I miss him, all his tests and finals were multiple choice and were exactly like the practice questions given. I wish he teaches QMS230 cause omg Boza makes it harder then it needs to be
He is the best prof ever. He is so kind and considerate towards the students. He also explains the best. I hated math so much but his class made me want to do better in it likeee I've missed only one of his classes. He just makes everything so simple. He truly is the best prof and I WISH he taught every subject I would be so eager honestly.
Amazing prof. Such a goat, I am awful at math but I was still able to do really well in this course. His tests and exams are very similar to the practice questions he gives and they are also very fair. He is lenient with the MyLabs dates, even gave us an extra extension. He is super caring and genuinely wants us to do very well in his course.
The best prof you will ever have. He is an amazing person so kind and funny. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is very good at explaining concepts and will always help you after class if you don't understand.
I wish all profs were like him, he prepared us for exactly what we were being graded on and made the lectures understandable - *VanHilten take note* - would 100% take Aresh's class again (please teach qms210)
Professor Islami is one of the most supportive and knowledgeable instructors I've had at TMU. He genuinely cares about students' success. His exams are fair if you study, and he always makes time to answer questions and provide extra help. The course was easier to understand because of his teaching style. Highly recommend taking his class.

Best prof ever
Easy going professor and is ready to help if you have problems
I was lucky enough to get him, whereas some of by peers received other lower-rated profs. I was the only one in my friend group to end up passing the course. Goes to show that success is nothing more but a succession of odd flukes. As the saying goes: "The only thing that beats hard work is hard luck".
Really good prof. All his midterm and exam practice questions are really helpful.
