I just had my first class with professor Delshad and he's the funniest guy ever. He is new here. He's obviously passionate about the subject and makes the class fun... But I just wish it wasn't a 7am class. At first I was very nervous because the class was marked staff but he's really good and making everything interesting so far
Keep you all posted later on rest of semester.
Really nice professor who really cares about you. You definitely have to work for your grade, but its better than taking another professor who isn't willing to help you. He curved the first exam (I got an A with the curve). Responds to emails very fast and at all times (emailed him at 1:00am and got a response at 2am on the weekend).
one of the best professor i have ever had. He is someone who really makes it a point that you understand what he teaches you. Willing to help you always and be there for you when you need him. Very active and responsive.
I really love professor Delshad. He is one of the best professors I have ever had here. His lectures are really interesting because he is honest and tells you when he is giving you his opinion on stuff instead of facts, which a lot of professors don't do and pretend that everything they say is always right. Definitely take him if you can take him
Very admirable professor, he is cool but don't take that lightly. Most of your grade will come from tests so it means you definitely have to study. His lectures are pretty long and fast so write fast and listen. Everything he tells you will be on the test will be. He makes this topic interesting and comprehensible. Oh yeah, read your book.
The realest professor you'll ever meet. He keeps class fun and makes it enjoyable, like I actually like going to school because of this class. Really funny and really makes you think about stuff instead of just being boring like every other class. Pace is too fast though
He's a cool guy. Huge Game of Thrones fan. The tests are not easy but if you read the text and make sure that you do the study guide, you can easily get high grades. Be sure to participate in lecture to get the full experience. You'll learn a lot from this class.
I HATE THIS GUY DONT TAK- jk hes truly one of the best professors Ive had. Idk how, but hes like 15 years old but an amazing prof. I feel like because we look to him as a peer, he dumbs it down to our level so its a lot easier to understand. This class is so fun even tho the subject sucks. The chili pepper is 99% his motorcycle 1% him (jk he's gr8)
Hands down probably one of the best teachers I have taken. He managed to make a subject I used to find incredibly boring into something very interesting. He makes his lectures easy to understand. He is always willing to help just ask. To top it off he has the best sense of humor, hilarious guy. Most of your grade does come from tests.
He's a QT but the class is fast paced and difficult if you don't make time to study on your own. The study guide is basically 95% of the test so as long as you pay attention and focus on the guide, you'll definitely have fun in this class. Extremely left teacher if that bothers you but didn't bother anyone I think.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! Probably one of the top 3 professors I've had. He's hilarious, super cool, fun, and down to earth and is always willing to answer questions to help you succeed in the class. Study guides are insanely helpful, do those and you should easily get an A on the tests. Lectures can be long but he makes it fun and interesting. TAKE HIM
He's an amazing professor! Really chill, friendly, and funny! The class is based on lecture and the book which can be a little intense but it'll be worth is when it comes down to the test. Your grade is based on exams, attendance and an essay. Be prepared to write fast because he tends to go pretty quickly till the point your hand cramps up-_-
Professor Archie is by far the greatest professor in FJC. I regret taking him in Summer since it was a fast paced class but he made it very interesting. Study guides will really help you, gives extra credit & read the book! Constantly reminds his students to ask questions & respects your opinion. Also, his laugh is really funny. Lol.
The class itself is not too easy but Archie makes it fun, so definitely take it with him if you can. Makes you work for the grade but encourages you along the way. Would take again.
Amazeballs. He made what I thought was a seemingly meh topic really interesting and fun to learn. Delshad is supportive of his students and intriguingly funny. Grades are based mostly off the exams, but if you study with the study guide you would do relatively well. Highly recommend this professor! (:
AMAZING PROFESSOR! You can tell he is so passionate about political science, which I feel is really important because that itself makes the class more interesting. His lectures were really informative and if you pay attention and take notes you'll catch on. Your grade is based off of tests and attendance, so don't miss class! He's also super cute:)
He's the most sincere and funniest teacher ever. He makes politics seem interesting, and he heavily criticizes gov't. He encourages political participation and debates. He wants you to ask questions. He's able to connect with students, which makes his class fun to take. Plus, he will valuable give life advice. #MakeAmericaFishAgain #Delshad2028
I've never had a professor that was this good before. Class is FUN. I actually WANTED to go to class everyday and I did. I learned so much and really worked hard for this class. The best professor at fullerton by a mile. Hard but worth it.
This class is SO amazing. He's really smart and forces you outside of your comfort zone sometimes. Some of the topics are really controversial but he doesn't care and just tells it like it is. Encourages you to think but in ways you're not used to. Love Archie. He's also really funny and honest but tests are really hard and he covers a lot each day
I'd say there's a reason Archie has so many comments that are recent, because everyone genuinely thinks he deserves a shout out for the amazing job he does. I am graduating this year at CSUF and out of all the professors i've ever taken this class and Archie were my favorite of them all! I highly recommend this class to anyone!
Tough Grader but will lay out specifically for you what he wants. Study lectures and read required chapters and you will definitely pass.
Hes a great teacher and this was the only time I actually had any interest in politics and you actually learn. Hes very clear on what he wants make sure you do the reading and study for all of your test. You will not pass the class if you constantly miss class. Hes super funny and its easy to pay attention and not get bored cause hes fine AF
One of the best teachers by far. Book is cheap. Don't really need it got a B without it. study and you'll be good he gives you study guides and allows for a cheat sheet. 4 exams total no homework, only an writing assignment at the end if you want to replace a test grade. Good lectures and good too look at also. Definitely recommend taking :) !
Would definitely take him again! Super funny and his class is informative yet fun. He tells you exactly what he wants you to know for his tests with his study guides and he's cute af. Attendance matters tho because you lose points if your absent and his power points are not posted online!
Lectures are crystal clear! I looked forward to his class because he made the material so easy to comprehend and he's hilarious! He's young, so he can relate to his students. However, class is based on 3 exams and 1 essay to replace a low score. Be prepared to write super fast and take detailed notes! Allows a cheat sheet for exams.
Archie is super cool! He is young so he can relate to his students, he is also super funny! BE READY TO TAKE HELLA NOTES THOUGH. and he's super nerdy and cute ;D
Hardest and best class I have EVER taken. Professor Delshad is brilliant and the most helpful person inside and outside of class. Class forces you to think for yourself and reevaluate your life a lot. His power points are very detailed and he knows so much about the topics. Love, love, loved this class and I wish he taught everything at FC
I had to rate Archie, he's my favorite! By far, best teacher I've ever had. This class really helps you determine what your beliefs are and what you personally want to agree with. Lecture is the worst... all notes are handwritten. Your hand will cramp up pretty fast. He allows a cheat sheet on exams so that's a plus. And he's young and cute
Archie is one of the best professors I've had. He knows what he's talking about and he's young enough that he easily relates to his students. His tests are really hard, but be careful with notes. If you're not a fast or coherent note taker, I would advise you to use a laptop to take yours. The tests are hard, but he allows you a cheat sheet!
ahhhhh I love this class! He's so funny and has the cutest laugh lol. Tbh I was dreading taking a politics class but there's so much I didn't know I'm happy I learned and now I like can actually understand a lot of why politicians are so terrible. He's so smart but very friendly and not uptight, he'll help u if u need it and ask.
Great teacher that encourages you to challenge all you learn.
By far the best professor Ive ever had! He makes the class interesting, funny, and welcoming. One of the few classes where I actually learned and didn't just disregard everything after taking the tests. Show up, take good notes, study and you'll earn a B. If you want an A read the book. Plus he's hot..
never written a rate my professor review before but archie is something else. iono how he is so young and so smart. hes the best professor or teacher ive ever had my whole life. he makes you work for your grade but honestly its worth it. best class ive taken and im sad its over. when he came in with the motorcycle jacket i think i feel in love
This is my first rating ever and I'm doing it because Archie totally deserves it. Political science may not be everyone's cup of tea but Prof. Delshad definitely makes it interesting. His class was a pleasure going to although it consists of a lot of note taking. He provides you with everything you need in order to pass the tests. Highly recommend
Archie was amazing. He scared the class a little in the beginning by saying his class was hard to pass but I had no trouble getting a high B. I am not a "political person" but Archie changed the way I viewed everything. I truly fell in love with the subject. He is a genuinely great guy who wants his students to not only succeed but change the world
You HAVE to: read the book & take direct notes go to class for the exams are the presentations in test form take notes on all the media we watch know they aren't cumulative test & they're "curved" answering Qs for it gets u E.C. write ur cheat sheet w/ time The 1st 3 exams were 20% each and the final was 40%. I got 85, 87, 86, & then an 88.
Best professor I have ever taken! He makes politics super interesting for those who are not too fond of it, but you seriously have to work to get a good grade. He's hilarious, helpful, and incredibly respectful too. Take detailed notes & pay attention in class; the tests are kind of tricky, but you end up learning SO much so it's worth it. TAKE HIM
Archie is a great professor that really cares about his students. His class is not an easy class, but you will definitely walk away with a clear understanding of politics. He comes off as a chill professor, but don't let that fool you, his tests are difficult, so take good notes, read the chapters, and ACTUALLY STUDY! Allows 1 Cheat sheet on exams.
HE IS AMAZING. He makes me laugh every class meeting and makes learning more enjoyable. Theres a lot of note taking so be ready. He uses PowerPoints and funny videos in his lectures. Although he jokes around sometimes, he is serious when he needs to be. His class is really enjoyable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
He gave us a 8.5x11 cheat sheet for every test. Everything on his exams are in his powerpoints. So if u don't miss class, you'll never have to study that hard.
It's funny and informative. You will take notes(A lot) But its worth it because you can use your notes to create a cheat sheet for each exam. The first exam is purposefully the hardest, so READ THE TEXTBOOK(which is his exact point). He even took time out of his life to help me with questions when the counselling office was too "busy." 10/10 guy
Archie is a such a doll as a professor; being one of my 1st college professors, he totally eased my nerves (even tho he may seem intimidating) & made his class enjoyable. Taking his class and learning the material totally opened my eyes to the modern world (duh its government). Archie totally deserves more than just two thumbs up! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Archie is to the left politically and doesn't hide it, but doesn't grade you down if you are not. Very fair professor and funny. He loves when you disagree with him because he loves to debate. I disagreed with a lot of what he said (I'm conservative) but he backs everything up and is very knowledgeable and helpful in office hours.
Archie is probably one of the best instructors I have taken at Fullerton college. super knowledgeable and helpful he's not intimidating or patronizing. he has a great sense of humor and genuinely kind pretty handsome too. you take a lot of note only test (3) and no homework.
Professor Archie Delshad is one of the best at Fullerton College, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
This is one of the few classes i looked forward to attending. He is set in his politcal opinions, but is very good at staying unbiased when lecturing. He really opened my eyes to how our government really works and is behind closed doors. Also, if you are more than 5 minutes late, you are singing "I'm a little teapot" or whatever you want.
I took him during summer! Amazing lectures! Taught me new things about gov. & politics. Truly cares about his students. 4 exams, attendance counts, 1 letter, & you HAVE to read. Uploads study guides early! Can use 1 page cheat sheet front/back! He will SCALE the grades. Highest grade gets the A, & that will boost your grade!
Im not highly recommend for students who are not speak English as primary language. There will be 3tests with 100questions/each, which means you have 0.8sec to answer all of them. You can bring ur cheat sheet if you have time to read them. Also answer the questions after every his PowerPoint slices are done. Read the book! It takes 20% of grade!
on my third class! most caring professor on campus ! will make you think about everything in a different way! take him!
This was the most inspirational class I've ever taken! Prof Delshad is brutally honest, funny, and gives fascinating lectures. He has a way of revealing information without telling you what to think; he's like "here are the facts, now form your own opinions". Be prepared to take lots of notes, read a lot, and study hard for the 4 exams. TAKE HIM!!!
His class was one of the hardest classes I have taken because his exams are extreme! But I walked out of that class with a different perspective of our political system and I will forever be grateful for all the knowledge he gave us! Archie is great! Just be prepared to WORK for the grade you want!
Professor Delshad knows a lot about the subject. However, his class and exams are extremely hard. I was taking this general posc class just to to fulfill my GE requirement but It felt that I was in posc majors class. you have a small assignment before every class and 4 exams and one paper. overall he is a hard professor if you don't like posc.
this was one of the hardest class I took. none of these made any sense. Prof Delshad does try his best to explain these super abstract concepts. An example for a test question: how do you kill a person? a) knife b) gun c) hands d) rope; all the answers are right but you have to pick the best answer; he provides scantrons so you don't have to buy
While passionate about his subject, he is very lecture-heavy, so, passing his class will be difficult if you can't attend at least most of his classes. He doesn't post his notes online either, and his exams are very difficult if you don't study thoroughly. Expect to write a lot of notes.
Highly recommend this professor! Will he make you work for it? Will your hand hurt like hell? Yes. However, the insight you get into political theory is worth it. There are 2 fairly cheap textbooks (one can be found online), 4 exams, online discussion questions (easy), and an optional essay that will replace your lowest exam score. DO THE READING!!
By far my favorite class Ive taken at FCC so far! He was so funny and although his lectures are long, he has a way of keeping his students intrigued. Really great professor and really great class!
Most chill and funny professor I have ever had. He is definitely not easy (lecture heavy, exams are crazy difficult, not many chances for extra credit), but if you do what is required, passing shouldn't be too hard. He is super passionate about politics and highly encourages students to share their own opinions in class.
10/10 favorite professor at Fullerton College. Very intriguing lectures that leave you thinking about the topic all week. He has a good connection with students. He will tell you day 1 that his tests are HARD. Believe him. Hardest tests I've ever taken. Didn't buy the book but passed with a B.
Archie is an amazing professor. He presents himself as relatable and ratchet, but he is very well read and communicates clearly. His lectures are extremely informative and eyeopening but fast passed as heck. The exams are hard and cover alot of material. I assure you, you will learn more with Archie than with any other polysci professor at fullcoll
3rd class with Archie! Best prof I've taken at Fullcoll. He vibes with everyone and doesn't shut down alternative opinions. His adjustments for the pandemic were considerate and clear. For the 216 class, very insightful and willing to challenge norms by going deeper. I appreciate how he tells a story and builds continuity in lectures using history.
He is a great professor who cares about his students. His exams were very hard, but there is a curve. Study!! During COVID, he was very understanding and adjusted his coursework accordingly. I would take him again if I was staying at Fullerton College. Take him!
This class was so entertaining and interesting. Archie is super relatable, but you can't bs your way around him. He won't let you do the hw if you don't show up to lecture. Not a lot of room for extra credit, so try to show up to every class. I got a 60 on the first exam, but with the curve I ended up with an 80. Don't depend on the curve though!!
His class is really tough. If it werent for the whole corona situation, I honestly most likely wouldnt have given an A. Class is the hardest class Ive taken so far, but still a very good professor and hes a very caring and funny person. Made the class really interesting and truly makes you work for the grade. Happy I took him overall.
Archie is a very good professor and his lectures are clear and easy to grasp. The first test is EXTREMELY difficult which he purposely designed to give students a wakeup call that the class is easy going, but not an easy A. If you're not a good test taker (like me) it might not be the class for you.2 tests, 1 project, discussion posts every lecture
This is my all-time favorite class! The tests are all 100% based on the lectures and assigned readings. The way he lectures is so effective and easy to follow but you have to pay attention and take detailed notes. If you don't read the book, take notes, and study you won't pass. He was pretty chill and funny too. All around great class.
Super fair professor, awesome lectures, very chill, just get the work done on time! I took him for a summer class, so everything moved fast; one unit per week for 4 weeks. 4 tests, 4 DB's, and a final essay that could be written or an oral presentation. Not really any EC. If you take his class during a normal semester more work. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
BEST PROF EVER! Archie is one of the funniest people ever! You won't regret taking his class. It's not the hardest class but the tests will determine if you read the book or not. Took this class as a GE but I would definitely take it again
because of the pandemic I wasn't able to take his class in person, but he made taking classes online easy. instead of giving out a power point or have a zoom meeting, he records himself explaining the material on a zoom recording and it actually makes it easy to understand and that's coming from someone who isn't the brightest person lol
Wait to take him on campus. His online classes are insane. The PDF assignments are so hard to read on screen when we're doing everything online. He opens assignments and gives you two days to turn things in. And when you explain that you have to work, he talks about how hard he had to work in college. It's all about him. All the time.
My favorite professor! He is very caring and willing to help if you ask for it, even if it isn't abt the class. I took him in 2017 and graduated this summer from CSUF. Reached out to him for help with grad school and he talked me through everything on Zoom. Wants to see you succeed, but expects you to work for your grade. Follow him on Twitter!
About two hours of recorded lectures a week for online classes, and if you want to get a good grade you need to study hard for the quizzes. On every quiz there were always a few questions that were never in the lectures. One discussion per unit and the final is a comprehensive research paper. No EC, and no chances to make anything up.
He is one of the funniest Professor I have ever had. He makes Political Science so much interesting. Professor Delshad is also a little tough grader, you will need to work hard to earn an A. He is super caring and helpful through the whole class! Lectures are heavy but interesting! Take him and you will not be disappointed! 120% Recommended.
The class consists of 2 recorded lectures and 1 quiz every week. There is a discussion at the end of every unit. The deadlines are only on weekends, so you can't really take your weekend off even if you want to. The teaching style is clear and direct, but the quizzes/discussions + term paper will stress you out. Not the best choice in a pandemic.
He's a terrible online teacher. You will have a weekly quiz and 2 videos for lecture. The quiz will have questions that are not included in the lecture. Discussion and term paper are not in module part of canvas, you need to find it somewhere.
Organized. Weekly quizzes (canceled a few), four discussions, and a paper. As long as you pay attention to the lectures, you'll do well in the class. He's also very helpful if you need study help or if you're having trouble with stuff. I spoke with him on zoom during office hours and he helped me with the class. very nice and also funny.
He makes class way harder than what it needs to be and grades too harsh on exams. I honestly think he really needs to cut some slacks for students.
Dreaded taking Poli Sci for two years and it turns out this was my favorite class. Archie is really organized, helpful, and makes the class fun. He's really passionate about the lecture and tells funny stories that makes it easy to listen. Easy enough to get an A if you watch the lectures and take notes.
Nope, Ill pass.
4 discs/4 exams (50qs/60mins). Try 2x your grades would be averaged. Followed directions for optional research paper which was confusing (NO RUBRIC)- said it would only help my grade. He gave me a D on it and didn't help. Wrote a paper telling me why. More info/references cause 5 isnt enough. Needs better rubrics to follow. Need HW not exams.
Archie reality cares about you. I emailed him bc I struggled on his first test and he said to talk to him on zoom and I did every week. He answers all your questions and is so patient. Wants you to succeed and gives great life advice, too. Changed my major to political science because of him
Ready for 4 exams and 4 discussion. Exam questions about lecture but very hard to understand. A lot of reading which is for exam question. Not recommend taking this professor!
I read the rate my professor reviews before I took his class and his ratings were very good. However, after enrolling in his online class which is asynchronous, he is a picky grader and has very confusing exams. In order to get a decent grade on the exam, you need to watch all the lectures and readings attached that are mandatory. Don't recommend.
Where do I start.. I read the reviews on here and they seemed pretty OK, but the class is just.. wow. The class was asynchronous for me, so I had to plan when I should take notes etc. Several unit lectures that are 20-60 minutes long. Discussions are OK. Exams have almost nothing to do with the lectures. Class requires a lot of outside studying.
He never communicates with the class. His lectures are pre-recorded which sucks for learning about current events. Like WWIII is breaking out and we never heard about Russia and Ukraine. In a poltiical science class! He emailed us maybe twice. Oh, and he doesn't read what he's grading. I wrote things that were wrong on purpose and got 100%
Take anyone else.
He is a nice teacher and he will help if you ask. Throughout the whole semester all we had was 4 discussions and 4 tests. Each was worth 100 points. He drops a test and a discussion BUT you need to watch his lectures to pass and each video is about an hour and he has maybe like 8 videos per module.
EASY A. Four tests and four discussions. He drops your lowest grade on both of them. He also has a weird grading thing where you can do an essay if you want to and that can only help your grade (but you don't have to do it). He's super nice, super smart, and super funny. Yes you have to watch the lectures lol you're in college lol.
Professor Delshad is a great and funny professor. His exams are based on specific things in his lectures, but it isn't too bad. Make sure to watch his lectures and take good notes. He is fair and cares for all his students. At the end of every lecture, he would remind us of how we could reach him and would always offer us his help.
Took this professor twice, both in person and online. Genuinely great professor who is passionate about his job. Pay attention during the lectures and take good notes and you'll pass.
Political Theory is a lot of information in a short amount of time, and Prof Delshad taught me all of it. He teaches his courses like a higher level course. A lot of lectures and get ready to take notes. He really understands the material and don't be scared of the 11 awful ratings like I was. I learned so much.
Be prepared to watch so, so many lectures. You MUST take notes, that is what's going to help you so much on the tests. He gives you a good amount to prepare for the exam. This class is also discussion heavy. You must do good on both the discussion and test if you want to succeed in this class.
Not a fan of his online class. Studied the lectures and everything and managed to do bad on his tests. I don't recommend him at all. Choose someone else. Seriously. Does give optional research paper as extra credit though.
He's chill and arrogant. Spends 30 minutes of the intro lecture on his own transcripts. He thinks it's inspirational, but it's just ego-centric so you know this class is all about him. You only have one test and discussion a month so it's easy to forget about the class and just cram when things are due. You could do worse.
I found this class to be very difficult, it consisted of 4 discussions, 4 tests, and an optional research paper. He drops your lowest grade on tests and discussions. But you must follow the correct format on the discussions to get a good grade. Also, he allows you to use notes but the tests were still very difficult. I wouldn't recommend.
If you're not a person who is meticulous with their assignments. Dont take this class. You spend about 6 hours on watching all of his lectures, this doesn't include the readings, YouTube videos, and 2 hour films. Though he only gives 4 tests & 4 discussions. He has NO room for leniency, no extensions, no missing assignments, no makeup's, no edits.
This class is quite difficult if you're not meticulous. About 6 hours worth of lectures, not including the 2 hour films, and multiple readings PER each unit. He is extremely STRICT, no late work, no edits, no exceptions. 0 room for error with anything. Though only 4 tests, 4 lectures, lowest grades get dropped. Dedicate two weeks for each unit.
Professor Delshad does not provide quizzes or any homework leading up to midterms, which makes having a realistic expectation of what to do during a midterm difficult. On top of that, midterms contain questions on things that are considered optional by the professor. If something says optional, do it anyway. Beware of this professor tripping you up
Archie gives a total of four exams and 4 discussions throughout the semester. Tests are difficult because you have to absorb and remember 6 lectures, films, and readings all in one exam. He's very liberal and makes it known that Liberals are more educated than Republican's and that the Republican party mostly consists of old wealthy White ppl.
On exams you cannot return to previous questions, questions are very specific and are designed to trip you up. Prof Delshad acknowledges his exams were hard in a survey, and has no intention of changing them. Also falsely 0's discussion posts citing chatgpt as his reason. Stroke his ego, he uses late night talk show hosts as basis for his lectures.
There is no homework. Only 4 discussions and 4 exams. Optional research paper at the end of the semester. Exams are very challenging, know your stuff before taking them. On the other hand, discussions are very easy. Like someone else mentioned, I'm not sure if he even reads the posts thoroughly. I rushed a couple posts and still got 100 on them.
You can pass. You won't learn much and he's a jerk who thinks he's cool and funny, but you can pass.
I took him over the summer AND IT WAS SO HARD FOR NO REASON. I expected the workload, which was around 4-5 hours of lectures, readings, and documentaries per week. But his exams were so difficult, every question was pretty specific to the lecture. The exams were after every unit, so at the end of the week, and it was 50 questions in 1 hour.
He's a bit of a toughie on his tests, and the tests definitely make sure you know the material, but he's a smart guy and a lot of fun to interact with. I loved this class, he was super nice and funny and he really seemed to care about his material. You can tell he had a lot of passion for politics and philosophy.
I had him online but interacted with him several times outside of class. He is open-minded and encourages the other students to be open-minded as well. He encourages research. It is a very lecture-heavy class, so be ready to take notes. His exams are what you need to prepare for; they're hard, but he drops your lowest score. (online)
If you want an A pay attention to his lectures and what he says. Study that and you'll for sure at least pass. Grade based on exams (he drops your worst one) and 1 paper. Start the paper early!! Very open to us talking to him about anything. If you aren't willing to put the work in, don't even take this class
At of all the professors I've taken this one is the most difficult. His lectures are a little overwhelming. His tests are not what you read and the readings are more than 5 articles including lectures. Take this class in person or with someone else. There are no updates or reminders of due dates.
I really liked Delshad's class. He isn't the easiest professor but, he is a great one! His lectures are interesting and you can tell his passion for his craft. I liked all his additional material too, he makes it fun! Just take notes and read/watch everything and you'll be fine!
Archie is a super cool professor, but his whole class is just straight lectures. There are 4 exams, 1 essay, and no homework. He drops your lowest exam out of the first 3 exams. The 4th one stays no matter what. The exams are pretty hard so you have to really REALLY pay attention in his class. It's actually a pretty hard class!
Loved Archie's class. Lectures were easy to pay attention to, funny, and as long as you watch them, you will get a good grade.
Difficult to pass, time test, no going back on test, ex 20 questions in 20 minutes but several options comments made in passing on his lectures not from the highlighted notes. Video are old and out of date- He is knowledgeable in the subject and very political and liberal. No extra credit, No Curve Not recommend other professors easier
Not enough time on tests and quiz. 100 minutes for 80 questions and 15 minutes for quiz with 5 choices per question. Questions will be a comment he makes in passing rather than a large issue Quote from the professor himself - "test is designed to produce only 70-80 percent average" & "I don't post grades immediately"
Professor Delshad's class is challenging but engaging. He expects a lot of work, but provides helpful resources. Staying on top of the material and using tools like unstuckstudy can make this class manageable.
Archie is very knowledgeable about political theory and shows that in his lectures. It's just an hour of straight note-taking with about 50-60 pages of reading (or more) per lecture. He keeps them pretty interesting. 4 tests, each 100 Qs (thankfully curved). One huge extra credit paper (DO IT! brought me from 87% to 92%). Stay ahead on reading!!
Professor Delshad has truly been one of my favorite professors at FJC, his class is so interesting and informative. The class is test heavy but he provides notes and lots of help, truly one of the best classes I've taken
He doesnt accept late work be warned!!
Wayyyyyyyyyyy Too woke.
Quizez are 90% percent of the overall grade, and the questions on the quiz sometimes do not relate to information on the lecture/readings. I am still enrolled in this course, never received an A on any assignments, does not look like I will pass. Also, there are no other assignments, just quizzes.
His online course is quizzes orientated only. So there's no exams, papers, discussions, nothing of that sort. His lectures are very clear and well structured, and the quizzes are 20 mins long with 20 questions. Once you select your answer and move on to the next question, you can't go back. The only thing is that he does not accept late quizzes.
Summer course- Tests on irrelevant material and ALL of it(Books, movies, & lectures). Expect you to memorize specific references he makes, not key concepts! He is a nice guy but ultimately unhelpful and inserts terms that he doesn't further explain. 4 exams and that's it; 90% of your grade. As an A student, I won't be passing this. Will drop.
I'm taking his summer online course. As a full A student, I want to say his exam is extremely tough. Maybe you can get an A, but it is not worth to spend such much time on a GE class. Those bad comments are all true. I like his left-wing political ideas, but I don't recommend any students who want a good grade to take this course!
He had a pretty heavy lecture style, but he was genuinely good at teaching. Yes, he is heavily left-leaning, so if you don't like hearing that, probably don't take this class.
This is a class designed to test you on how HE believes government is constructed, and I know for a fact some of the lecture is based on opinion rather than the actual underlying cause. It's a little ethically ambiguous as to whether that approach is appropriate for an intro course.
his quizzes usually revolve around the lecture/ his opinion; he expects his students to know his opinion, which is what the quizzes are about. there is a quiz every week, and it doesn't give any extra credit. the quizzes are 90% of your grade, so if you're not a good test taker, i wouldn't recommend this class.
Take anybody else.
(I took an online class of his)He doesn't give homework, tests, midterms, or finals and only gives quizzes. Gives no support on quizzes and what we should be studying for considering the amount of things we have to memorize. He changed the grading scale to skew pass/fail since majority of students were failing. Lectures are videos and readings.
expected to watch movies length worth of lecture with not actual guidance on what is needed to be focused on for the test.
Hardest class I have ever taken, only lectures and exams, with no assignments or homework. Lectures are not accessible on Canvas, note-taking from the slides and spoken content required. Exams 100 questions and are tough. A one-page, front-and-back cheat sheet is aloud. He is very opinion based.
Make sure to read the chapters assigned and any other supplemental texts. Class is pretty much all on the exams which there are four of and you can replace an exam score with an essay that was about 10 pages. The professor gets a bad rap but is just direct and expects some effort. Anyone who says something bad is probably just not ready for school.
took his late start (4 week) class. 4 tests, online proctored, not open note, drops lowest score (except last test). If you watch all the required vids (i recommend 2x speed if you can) and take notes, you'll be fine. very quick and concise class (great for finishing credits fast) if you can handle it.
