Cake Class
Excellent professor, there should be more like him. He makes class interesting and he is very understanding. The tests consist of problems, not multiple choice, so it helps to see what you are doing and the solutions better.
Archie is a great professor, he actually makes going to class a fun experience...
If you are an accounting student, you may not like him because you won't really learn much. It's a cake class and if you just need the grade, definitely take him.

Archie makes accounting fun and really wants people to get accounting and do well in the class. Nice guy, good teacher.
Archie rules
He is hillarious!!! His test are exactly what he teaches. Do the homework and it's cake. He expresses a genuine concern for his students and offers help whenever it's needed. Highly Recommended!
Take this class if you can!! He is one of the best professors at UofL. He's very concerned about his students and very helpful. He wants everyone to succeed!!
Very fun class. Enjoyable to attend. Makes a lot of jokes during class and is concerned about helping his students. Take if you can.
He should not be teaching any higher level of accounting classes. He does not teach at all. He talks about everything ells but accounting. However, he gives good grades even they do not reflect your knowledge. He wants students to talk about him as of good professor. But if this is your major do not take him at all. Poem about accounting will do no
I enjoyed this class. He explained the material well and was very helpful with questions. His tests are hard even if you do study. A great guy to take for Accounting.
Archie really wants his students to do well. He is a good teacher. He strayed from the topic a lot, but if accounting is not a major interest, it made the class more bearable. However, he still managed to cover all of the the material. Do the suggested homeworks, because many of those problems will appear on the quizzes and the tests.
his classes are boring until he gets off topic, then they're rather wild ("grand canyon is going to erupt and kill us all"). tests (both of them) come straight from the homework, for which answer keys are given, and for which he is very willing to lend assistance. a great guy, a good teacher, an easy B at least.
nice guy. sorta out there..a midterm and a final is your grade with a few hw assignments..really no homework other than that.learned a little..but an easy A if you study for exams which arent very hard...no attendance policy.
I have had Faircloth for 3 accounting classes and he has been great. He really wants everyone in his class do well unlike other professors. He only does problems in class unstead of lecturing. I personally learning my working examples instead of listening to boring lectures. If this is how you learn take Faircloth for all accounting classes.
Fun and easy class. I enjoyed it a lot. He is very nice guy.
He's a good guy and seems to really care about his students. He is very willing to help. The tests are just like the homework - often the easier questions, so with a little work you can get a good grade
Another instance of a professor's sense of humor balancing out a not-so-exiting subject. Highly recommended.
Hilarious, said if you dont ask questions in his class you will "Burn in hell". But i got a B and never paid any attention so put forth some effort and you can get an A easily.
Don't take his class if you want to learn something.
Dr. Faircloth is a real college professor from the old school who is here to teach and build, and not one of these ex-business people who come in to campuses across the country barking about how the real world is and trying to re-cast the traditional scholar-student roles into boss-employee. If you fall down, Faircloth will help you.
Archie is a great professor. He does not lecture, only does example problems. But you will be well prepared for the midterm and final that way, he lets you know exactly what is on it, and spends plenty of time letting students ask questions. Very helpful.
Archie is a wonderful teacher that absolutely loves Spongebob...no joke. His classes are entertaining and he is extremely funny...just make sure to ask questions. Oh, and he grades his mid-terms and finals in favor of the student...just make sure you know how to format the problem and you will be golden
Easy class! I had basically no idea what was going on the entire time and I got an A. There is a midterm and a final and you can use a cheat sheet. Tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. Assigns some HW and some in-class problems, you pretty much get credit as long as you did it. Take him for any class you can!
Prof Faircloth certainly brings character to the accounting department. His lectures are straightforward and based on the book; the grade comes from the mid term and final, which are easy given that he tells you what will be on them in good detail. Attendance is not mandatory but helpful.
Impossible to reach outside of class
Impossible to reach outside of class- doesn't respond to emails at all. Couldn't stand his teaching style; he will get insulted if no one can answer his questions, even before he has gone over the material. Very sarcastic man but I'm sure people will always take his class because he lets you use a "sheet of knowledge" for tests.
I have taken faircloth for every class I could! I was so lost during his class but never got less than a B+. you may be lost during the semester, but dont worry you will end up with a good grade!
Loved his teaching style, isn't one of the those teachers who wants to make it difficult for you but wants you to learn the material and understand it.
Easy class. Take him. The test are somewhat easy, and your grade is based on 2 test and a few quizzes, all of which are easy.
Very easy professor. Funny & interesting guy, cares that you do well. There is only a midterm & final, multiple choice, noncummulative. No graded hw, but goes over in class to help you learn. He's very approachable. If you took ACCT 205, this is essentially just a review. Take him, he's great.
Awesome professor! His monotone voice can make you bored at times but he knows what he's talking about. Gives plenty of practice problems and uses the book heavily!
He does a great job of keeping the mood light but his speech can be very dry at times. There were only two tests in the class that equaled a total of 200 points. Very little room for error if you wish to get an A. I would not recommend taking his class.
Professor Faircloth's class was not too hard, but there is a lot of information you are required to know. His lectures are extremely boring and he makes the subject very dry. However, he is willing to help. His test are fair, but you must study. To sum it all up: easy class, but incredibly boring teacher.
Went off topic often and was sick throughout the semester missing class a lot which I understand however I did not receive my grade for the class until a full year later. Not recommended if possible find some one else.
The class is based off two tests (and 5 possible quizzes if the class votes on it), it can be very difficult to dig yourself out of a rut if you get a bad grade on the first test. But he will help you every step of the way.
Cake. Faircloth gets off track a lot, but makes the content easy to understand and is willing to help if you don't understand.
Literally one of the worst classes I have ever taken, I basically had to teach myself because he gets so sidetracked or just doesn't remember what we had done and we did the same things over and over again. You can use cheat sheet on tests. Would not recommend if you actually want to learn.
I'm not going to say this class was super easy but it wasn't bad. He teaches a little, goes off on a tangent about something completely unrelated, then goes back to teaching. He has a dry humor that is usually sorta funny and is overall a very mellow guy. I'd say take him b/c of the "sheet of knowledge" you get to use on tests
Requires a lot of studying and keeping up with outside of class. He expects you to try things first, and then he'll explain. Offers every class to set up appointments with him if you don't understand and if you take advantage of that he's very helpful. He likes to get off topic and joke a little. Generally a great professor if you try in the class.
This man truly knows his stuff. His class isnt that hard if you just pay attention and do the assignments he gives you. He goes off on weird tangents but other than that e=he's cool.
At first you'll be weirded out by how a ZZ top band member managed to get a professorship , but then you'll realize this guy is cooler than anybody from ZZ top. His jokes are just as outdated as that reference. Enjoy the class, as good as it gets in accounting.
You will never have another prof like him. He is your hawaiian shirt wearing, long beard rocking, flower child throwback, football loving, rogue accounting professor. He may ramble, but he knows his stuff and is there for you when you need him. Play your cards right, and you'll earn an A and maybe a homemade pie, courtesy of his Amish homies
Archie is a very good professor. He is your Hawaiian shirt wearing, beard rocking professor. There are only TWO exams in the entire semester: the mid-term and final, which can make things harder if you do bad on one of them. But he usually curves the test if a lot of people do bad, and provides SOME extra credit. Overall, very helpful and clear.
Professor Faircloth is a pretty cool dude. As a professor he is alright. He despised our class because we wouldn't answer his question and after the mid-term stuck to only accounting instead of being fun like he was first semester. He told us to specifically say on here that in the future he will NO LONGER BE PROVIDING ANY EXTRA CREDIT.
He is an okay teacher. I am an accounting major, however I did not find his class interesting. I would find another elective to take if you are actually trying to learn. It is however, an easy A
He's entertaining and all but his class is a waste of time. You'd have to read the chapters and go to his office hours to really understand the material, which is important if you have to take 201 and 202... and he doesn't teach 202 so I would pick a different professor from the beginning.
DO NOT TAKE. He is arrogant and a complete jerk. Only two tests worth 50% of grade, both have 30 multiple choice. No extra credit in the future, NO SHEET OF KNOWLEDGE in the future! I went to every class, got tutored every week, did work outside of class. Got an A but practically taught myself. Horrible experience, awful professor.
Faircloth has zero passion. He gives two tests, each worth 50% of your grade. You get to use "a sheet of knowledge", but no extra credit is offered throughout the course. He expects a lot for someone who doesn't explain things. No homework grades. no participation points. no attendance taken. He seems to not care.
He is a great professor when he is actually teaching. However, most of his class sessions are his personal stories. If you read the textbook and practice the problems he assigns at the end of class, you should have no problem passing. There are only 2 tests in this class, the mid term and the final. Take someone else if you can.
Faircloth is my favorite teacher. He is so weird but funny. He only gives 2 tests and you can use a cheat sheet with anything on it. Buy the book so you can do the problems he assigns. He doesn't check homework. The only grades are your two tests. If you make your cheat sheets well, it's an easy A.
He was always 15 mins late to class. He put no effort into us. You practically have to teach yourself. Only a midterm and final. The previous classes he gave out big curves, I heard. But he did not like our class because we didn't do as well as his other class at the time so he didn't give us a curve. Take someone else.
If I could redo anything in life it would be taking Faircloth for accounting. He gives two grades; midterm and final. Just about my whole class got grades on the midterm ranging from 30s to 50s, and a few 60s. He didn't curve at all cause he hated our class. He is of poor clarity and you can barely read what he puts on the board. Don't take.
This class is good because you don't really need to get the book or go to class all the time, but it's bad because he isn't a super enthusiatic teacher. Doesn't provide very helpful feedback to questions. Only two grades, but you can use a cheat sheet - useit wisely. I would recommend if you are good at teaching yourself and hate going to class.
His 3 hour class mostly consisted of doing homework from the chapter and explaining through the homework, rather than teach the material and review the homework. Not the worst style, but a little challenging with something like accounting. Don't underestimate the tests, there's only two but if you mess one up it's hard to come back
I thought he was an awesome teacher. If you practice the questions in the book and attend the lectures it is pretty easy to pass. Yeah, there are only 2 exams for your grade, but they are fairly easy if you put in a little effort.
His classes are supper long and boring. He makes you participate. Supper sarcastic and we never even got a syllabus and he didn't know the date and time of the final. Over all just kinda rude.
I would only take Archie for an easy A in an elective. I took him for a mandatory accounting course and didn't learn anything, which made it really hard in the following course. He doesn't teach. He just gives homework problems and then does them in class. Grades are based on 2 exams, 1 excel spreadsheet and extra credit if you post a blog online.
He really encourages participation and for you to ask questions but if you ask something he will probably reply in a sarcastic or demeaning way. Assigns homework first and then goes over and explains the material the next class which forces you to learn it yourself. Grade is just two tests and one assignment. Would not recommend.
This class was not one that I would take again. There only two tests and one problem that gets graded. There is little to no actual teaching that occurs in class, he mostly assigns problems and then expects you to get them done outside of class on your own and be ready the next day to move on. I had to get two different tutors for this class.
Prof Faircloth is a goofy old man. The material covered is very simple and he goes over everything in class. If you have questions, ask. 2 test, 1 spreadsheet problem, and easy extra credit. Tests you get an entire "Sheet of Knowledge" & it's multiple choice. You can skip, but get notes and study. I never did HW. I just showed up and listened
This is not a difficult course but the professor make the course difficult. The main reason is lack of responsibility for teaching and lack of care for students. Gave syllabus after the semester have begun several weeks; no schedule on syllabus. Hard to understand what to do during the beginning weeks. Several times left class without teaching.
I will avoid taking more classes with him if at all possible. He has a terrible, condescending attitude and is not a good teacher. He only has two tests and they don't accurately reflect the things that he discussed in class. I passed them both but the class fail rate was very high. That high fail rate is a good indication of his failure to teach.
Doesn't teach material, just gives problems at the end of class and expects you to know how to do them. Goes on 30 minute rants about random topics that don't apply to accounting in the slightest. Gives just two tests and one project, nothing else is graded. Homework is optional, but if you know how to do it, you didn't learn it from him.
Avoid this professor. I'm confused as to how he still has a job. The worst&least accessible professor I've ever had. He is never in his office & doesn't respond to e-mails. Got the syllabus a week before the midterm, it had no dates. He doesn't teach in class, if you learned something you taught it to yourself. Take him if you love to be stressed.
Prof. Faircloth is one i would never recommend. Late to class, very demeaning. He will insist you ask questions and then talk down to you for asking questions. Overall, this is the worst experience i have had with a professor. He took three weeks to respond back to my email and he has no set office hours. Very, very bad experience.
If you need to take ACCT 201 for a credit, do not take it w/ Faircloth. Youll have to teach yourself everything the class covers. He is not accessible at all outside of class, does not respond to emails, and doesnt use Blackboard. Do not take this professor.
This professor was the partial reason as to why I dropped out of U of L and went back to community college. He was the epitome of a professor that doesn't teach well, doesn't care, and makes you think as to why you decided to come to U of L. It was definitely the best decision I ever made. Thanks Archie.
We had two grades, midterm and final. I learned nothing which did not help when I went to take 302. He doesn't seem to care about teaching. You will be teaching yourself everything. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
He does not even teach! He assigns homework problems and then gives you the answers without any explanation. He berates students for not asking questions, asking "dumb" questions, or answering his questions wrong. And then gives a sarcastic lecture because no one understands the material, at all. I would avoid at any cost for a class, period.
One of the worst professors in the Business School. His attitude towards life and students is pessimistic to say the least. His professionalism is basically nonexistent.
For grades he does 50% of your grade the midterm and 50% the final. People scored bad on the midterm so he is giving extra credit and additional points with quizzes. He assigns homework and then goes over it in class. It is helpful to do the homework before class so you know what he is talking about. I enjoyed his class and would take him again.
Do NOT take him unless you love skipping class and teaching yourself the material. I showed up to every single class except maybe 2. I had better luck going to study groups with my classmates and with a tutor. You will not heave much luck learning with him.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had at UofL and this was the worst experience at UofL that I have ever had. I honestly hope he gets fired after this semester so no one has to take his class again. I did not learn a single thing that he taught. I dropped my accounting major because of his class.
Every class he went over problems in the accounting book, which was his way of teaching. His class consists of one midterm and one final. My class didn't do well on the midterm so he gave out extra credit opportunities. He obviously cared about the students and their grades or he would not have given extra credit. When he gives packets, study those
You will have to teach yourself. He will assign HW on stuff you haven't covered then in class, he will ask the class for all the answers. If nobody answers then you skip the question then he lectures you on how you gotta do the HW. Just two tests, he does give you a few chances to boost your grade with extra credit quizzes.
Do the homework and show up to class you shouldn't have any problems getting an A. He gives out review packets for the exams and pulls the questions right off that. He gave multiple extra credit opportunities, but didn't post them on BB so you have to be there to know what they are. He's a weird guy but he knows it. Overall he's a good professor.
Prof Faircloth is an accountant before a teacher, and that's important to know when you go into the class. He teaches you based on the principles and knowledge that he has gained over his career. As long as show up to class, use the textbook, and ASK QUESTIONS then you'll do fine. Would take this class again.
Dr. Faircloth is a good professor for Accounting 201. He encourages all questions that students have, and never shames anyone. He is very accessible outside the classroom. After every class he reminds his students to make an appointment with him if confused on anything. The grades consist of 2 exams (midterm and final) and 4 homework assignments.
Prof Faircloth was overall a good guy. I went to every class so he knew me, but you could get away with not attending. The only grades were midterm and final so it was hard to get a good grade. You get a cheat sheet so it wasn't awful.
Don't take if you're an Accounting major. Fairly easy to get at least a B in the class, but you won't learn or remember much from what he teaches. His teaching style is definitely not the best.
Tough class. The only grades you get in the class are the midterm and the final and two homework grades. He said at the beginning of the semester there was going to be four homework grades but there was only two. The midterm and the final are both only 25 multiple choice questions so you just have to make sure you do well on those to pass.
