Hard hard hard!!!! He's not friendly too

Really tough, but he'll teach you what you need to know.
Woah is this guy hard! But if you survive it, you really know what you need to!
Best prof in the world! I still remember The name of the game is simulation!
very unhelpful.
He reiterated from the text, was not particularily clear, and made material more difficult then it needed to be. His attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful to the students of his class. I highly recommend avoiding his instruction.
Arrogant, self-centered...etc.
Beast instructor in the world, I have taken: Computer science 1401, 2401, 2451, 2190 with him. He is awsome. Not like some instructors are wimps he takes control of the class and noone is late! thats the nice thing, late = killed. Knows all material A++
Wait to take this course elsewhere. I hear he's a good prof if you get on his good side. Don't need **** from a prof.

Ok, if you are looking for an easy instructor then FORGET about him = F, but if you are looking to learn what you love he is one of few instructors on earth who not only teaches you the course but also teach you how to think.
Someone mentioned that if you survive his class, you'll know everything you need to know. That makes sense. You'll know everything because you will have studied the text thoroughly, will have attended tutorials and probably hired a tutor. He's no help!

He's one of the worst
Hopeless
STRONG WARNING:AVOID any class with him.Goes WAY too fast with slides;mocks you if asked to slow down. The "Soup Nazi" of Langara:irrational, lots of class "rules",impossible exams."Challenging" is good but this guy is ridiculo
Arrogant, self-centered, etc., ... :(
Has an arrogant and offensive demeanour.
This guy is probably the most brilliant professor the I have come across. This guy is not only a professor but a dedicated scientist. Agreed, he is a little rough on he edges, but when was the last time brillance was benchmarked with smooth edges.
cares about students, but probably not obvious. classes are hard, because he has high expectations of everyone. Or maybe he is trying to weed out people who won't make it...
After 5 classes with Ardeshir (2190, 2401, 2450, 2480, 2490) I can honestly say he's a very good teacher. He expects you learn (understand, not just memorize) the material. Do the problems, the reading, and try and research any questions asked during class. You'll be fine. Oh, and be polite.
Ardeshir is a great, very knowledgeable. he is a tough instructor, no doubt about that, but if you study hard and understand the material, you should be able to pass his classses. if there is one instructor that you will remember, he is it, good or the bad.
HE KNOWS his stuff. which is more than i can say for the more than 50 profs who've taught me.he's a tough customer though
May know his stuff-so what? He's terrible at judging pace/expectations to have of students.A prof at college level shouldn't be judged on personal brilliance,so much as teaching ability. I wouldn't want Einstein as a prof if he couldn't understand to pace himself with what students can do, either.
Very tough but with our best interests in mind. I mean, it is a competitive world out there, so we better be on top of our game.
Very hard course, little help available.
hmm...4 different topics in 1 course. No wonder we ended up learning only two! The design of the course was horrible. Helped in no small way by the "tough" PROF
Sounds great when he is to teach five classes. But guys don't worry he will be taking two of them. But you will be questioned from all the four subjects.Beware he might not even complete the syllabus. He is a great prof.
This man is unhappy. He occasionally comes across as being ****. His academic history might be impressive to some but he cannot teach and is impatient when asked for help outside of class.
Interesting course. Problems: it's offered in summer ONLY, you have to learn everything outside class BEFORE learning it in the classroom, and REQUIRES at least 36 hours/week OUTSIDE CLASS in order to complete the labs. Oh, and tests are hard, and if people do bad he assumes that YOU, the student, are to blame for the low scores. ****.
sick or what?
Avoid at all costs, go to a different school! A small man, insecure. Doesn't even understand the topics he teaches, but hides it by being rude and demeaning. A straight A student I enjoy getting info from lectures, got none from his and passed the course in spite of him. We had study groups to try and make sense of his poorly presented materials.
Does not explain things well. Test seemed unrelated to course work.
Someone else mentioned that he doesn't know course material, this couldn't be more wrong, expert at all fields that could be taught in a college. Arrrogant jerk though in class, really helpful when available for his office hours, never take more than 3 classes when you have an ardeshir course
He was the best professor I've had all throughout my university years. He challenged his students to work hard and excel in everything they do. No one in my university years inspired me more than him. Yes, he's a tough guy..I kept wondering why I did terrible in his classes, but when I finally passed his class, I had become a much better person. Th
He has impressive academic achievements, but does a very poor job of teaching and does NOT effectively communicate course material. Can come across as condescending, arrogant, and flippant. I will never take a course with this person again and strongly recommend that you don’t either.
He hates students to the core, don't know why he teaches... Lack any social skills... Lausy teacher (I can read the textbook myself, thnks!), unopen to any kind of change. Not willing to help (canceled office houre before a midterm and sent us off with our questions still unanswered...)
good skill
He is so insecure that asking a question in class = rage that you're insinuating that he had failed in his first explanation. He then berates you for asking a stupid question. ANY question, even. Rude, disorganized, only helpful to select few. VERY harsh marker.
No No No No No....that's it!
Very intelligent person, however he has -no- respect for anyone he doesn't think is committed enough, and will treat such people accordingly. Do -not- take any basic/entry-level courses with this teacher, or any courses you are not genuinely interested in. I have not found his lectures worth attending.
A precious professor that has to be discovered
Strangest class I have ever taken. Racing from assignment deadline to assignment deadline. No real time to read the textbooks. Super-fast presentation. Lectures given in 2 - 1.5 hour portions, with a six minute break. Was it effective? No. And I didn't sit the exam. My advice: Look for options; there are some very good instructors out there.
Harsh, but effective. If all you care about is your gpa, I wouldn't recommend his course. But if you actually care about learning the material, he is the best professor at the school.
He expects you to respect him, most importantly he expects you to WANT to actually LEARN something rather than just get a grade. Most people miss that point and get all pissy when they don't get as high a grade as they want. Just be punctual, do the work, stick through the class and soon you'll see that Ardeshir is by far not as bad as people say.
The best professor I had. He pushed me to the limit. All his courses are awesome. You will learn a lot. Also, he doesn't waste time writing on the board -- he has slides prepared with all the material. He will go through about 50 slides of text in a class. This won't be possible to write out on the board. Don't miss this prof.
He's a good teacher, if you're motivated you will learn alot in his class: but this course (and 1401) will bring your GPA down. This course was, by a long shot, the hardest C+ I've ever earned. 2 Hr labs that took 6hrs, a term project which requires 20hrs lab time min... its fun and exciting but very challenging course, but for all that work... C+
This instructor is tough.. and I mean military stuff. The door closes right at the start you cannot enter the class after that if you are late.. labs are very tough and he does not attend the labs his exams are also tough the book itself cost $500 and he does NOT give a mark more than C+ and he states that too dont take his classes unless u must.
Nastiest individual I ever met over many years of post-secondary education. Classic A-hole, nothing left to be said.
The guy is unique. Very strict-be on time, do all work. Picks on you sometimes. But I can tell he is a nice guy. You'll get used to him. Clear explanations. If he's too fast, the textbook helps. Class is VERY interesting-always relates the material to real applications. You'll get reasons for why you should bother learning this****! Awesome.
Ardeshir doesn't want you to memorize the facts he wants you to try and understand, to actually learn. If you are just there to get some college credit you will have a difficult time and if you are genuinely there to learn, you will. I never did worse than a B- and I had him for 1400, 2400, 2450, 2480, and 2190. The best instructor I have ever had.
Worst teacher I have ever had. I have been taught by over 100 teachers in my life and I have never had a teacher behave as follow 1)doesnt allow you to send him e-mails. 2)doesnt allow you to ask him questions in class. 3)doesnt want to answer your questions during office hours. 4)doesnt help you to do your homework. 5)frequently insulting students
Do not take this professor only 50% of the class makes it halfway. If you are aiming for a high GPA never take his course(s).
Two words: JUST DON'T. Unnecessarily strict and hard. Excessively arrogant. Marker is just as strict as him. Boasts about his company and how he teaches at UBC but only wears the same t-shirt everyday. Worst teacher I've ever had, not for me or for most people for that matter. Got a B- because the marker kept deducting marks unfairly. Frustrating.
By far one of the few professors that actually cares about his student's education. Wants you to learn and wants people who want to learn. Take any course you can with him, GPA will suffer for it but you'll get more out of the course in one lecture then an entire semester with someone like Gladys Monagan. Also be on time for class always (trust me)
If you need to be coddled, spoon fed and lead by the hand - don't take his class. He doesn't want you.If you are smart, motivated and work hard and follow his strict rules his class is very rewarding.People either love him or hate him but you will get his respect if you can earn it.
Is there a negative score for easiness? Seriously, on this 5 point scale, I'd rate him about a -10. He holds undergrads to post grad student standards. However, if you are genuinely willing to work in his class, not just for the credit, but for the sake of learning, then while your GPA might take a hit, you'll still find yourself better for it.
Extremely strict. Expects you to withdraw if you are late more than twice. By "late", I mean that he closes the door at the start of class and turns away anyone who shows up. A little rude to students who answer questions in ways he doesn't like. Lectures on theory and expects you to master application (far beyond class requirements) on your own.
Ardeshir is top-notch. Most remarks on his strictness are true, but if you put in a genuine effort he will not fail you. You get your bang / buck with his lectures, but he also teaching you the value of self-learning. He will push you to do your best, and is absolutely recommended if you have intent of being serious in your field. Not an easy A.
Passing rate of this class is way too low, not worth to take this course here in Langara since it only offers once per year. Terrible instructor, Ardeshir Bagheri is constant insulting student, offer the exam one day before the withdraw deadline was what he had done for the past several years at Langara. He is the best to leave Langara. Awful PROF.
Extremely arrogant,rude.... very disappointed at his class. Don't take his class. He will shut the door and mark you late 1 second after 2:30, and if you late for twice, you will get a fail.
very rude, extremely hard....
I took ardeshire's cpsc 1280 last summer and I forgot to rate him. He is very RUDE in the classroom. He will mark an absence if you cannot hear or understand his foreign accent, if you late twice, you cannot pass the class. He slams the student if anyone is blocking the angle of the projector for a second. DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T TAKE HI CLAss!!!!!
Strict teacher, but you can learn much more from him, and his labs are relatively easy. Not sure about midterm and final
Ardeshir is extremely rude and unhelpful. He will go over some slides which he takes directly from the book as if we can't read. His midterm is the worst I have ever come across and he marks answers that can be found in the textbook wrong. I don't know why he expects you to teach yourself. Why are we paying for schooling? Useless professor.
Terribly hard... ... Just don't take any class with him
If you interested in and major in computer science, he is an excellent professor. If you just want high GPA, do not take his class
This course is entirely a self-tutorial from text book.NO help and NO useful lectures. His exams are too long in order to prevent students to get good marks. He constantly tries to insult students to hide his ignorance. Because he is not a good computer scientist but he is only a DATABASE at most! He neither teaches good nor behaves good.
His exams are designed to fail students. He thinks the way he's teaching is helpful but actually not. He forgot his job is helping us to move on, but he is actually stopping us. Don't take his classes or you will lose your interests in computer science.
This teacher is probably the hardest comp sci teacher at langara his methods are cruel and unusual, but you will learn more with Ardeshir then any other comp sci teacher at langara, just pay attention, read the text book and do all the labs!
Most insightful instructor in langara. This guy has a high IQ brain that operates at a different level. Go to his class everytime, try to answer his questions, exercise your brain thru his lecture and do the readings. You will thank him later in life. Regarding the mark, you will always get above C if he recognizes you as a good student Good Luck
Rude and Unreasonably Hard! AVOID HIM AT ALL COST!
He is rude and makes the course waay harder than it should be
All of his classes at Langara College are GPA bomber. Avoid him if you wanna higher grades. Besides the EECE2401, his CPSC2280's class average was 30% something... too low
I've had Ardeshir for ALL the courses he taught during my time at langara. He is the most intelligent professor I've met in my life. Respect him in class, DO NOT slack off with your material, stay focused for 4 month (which isn't easy), and he will give you a B. I had gone to many of his office hours to chat with him, and he has been a great mentor
He is a VERY tough and very serious teacher. If you dont respect him and you are not interested in computer science, you will fail his class. If you are interested and willing to put in extra work, he will help you advance as a scientist and programer.
The fact that this guy has two PhD's & teaches at a community college says a lot about him. He is a rude, arrogant & aggressive bully who loves to make examples of students: Read the textbook in class? He'll berate you. Show up 5 minutes late on the 1st day of class? He'll lock you out & deduct the full 5% participation mark for the entire semester
If you are really looking for a teacher who will make you something awesome, you are looking for him. This guy is like a tough chair, that will be hard on your butt but will keep you fit. If you are honest, you think before you speak, and you work hard, you cannot fail his course ever. Do not forget life is both hard and unfair!
I took 3 CPSC courses with Ardeshir. He is tough for sure, but you will learn more from him. If you put hard working on his class, his door will always open for you. Dont be late to his class, do the assignments and MAKE SURE you understand his class lecture. Best advise read the book before attend his lecture.
I really love computer science but I had no idea it would be so hard. I tried so hard to get help from Dr. Bagheri but I don't know. Shouldn't he try to help? He just says to look. He is very nice to students that are talking right to him but not anyone that asked him really good questions.
I didn't enjoyed his class!!
I've taken many classes with Ardeshir and each one has been harder than the next. But, after every class I feel far more prepared for the outside world. Don't expect him to feed you answers, don't take his classes just to get a grade. Take his classes to work hard and to actually learn something.
He is an extremely tough and rude. He slam doors on students according to his wrist watch time. He tells his students to drop his course.
Ardeshir will destroy your bad coding habits and builds you up again. You will need to work at least 2 hours a day to get a grade higher than B+. Be ready to figure out that you know nothing about computers! But you'll have learnt so many important details once you finish the course
Avoid at all cost!
