Uses too much of power point, loads of homework

He's a good prof. He organizes the course in a way so that students know where to study in textbook. Also, his lectures are very clear lectures. Quite alot of people ended up with A's.
nice guy, but his lectures are lame. they are highlight of the textbook. not enough teaching. i didnt pay for a prof to read the topic sentences in the text book
Seems like a nice guy but his lectures are right out of the textbooks which does not translate to a very good way to learn.
Good Prof, makes sure his students understand everything. Can be a tad boring at times, although ECON isnt the most interesting subject.
boring, but seems like a cool guy. He's a very fair teacher who wants his students to do well. Gave us lots of chances to bump up our marks.
The most horrible prof I've had thus far. We're still in the middle of the session, but not at all impressed with his boring teaching methods. Prof should maybe stick to research.
SOOOOOOOOOOO BORING.
Seems a bit underrated. Explains concepts well and tests fairly. However, don't expect high class averages in his upper year courses, they tend to settle in the "C" range. In a class of 102, only nine "A"s and zero "A+"s w
All his tests are multiple choice and are very straight forward providing that you study. Very lenient if you miss an exam, and he always makes sure all the students know where we are and what will be on the exams. Very good prof.
Prof Seems to be underated. But the fact is that his teaching isnt bad, what he teaches is. HALLO,.. wat do u expect..ECONOMICS..i did the stuff in grade 10/11 high school... i swear...easy course can be boring at times
The greatest economics prof@york
NO COMMENTS!!!!!
he is really nice and understands what students r going through in other courses, his exams somewhat match the course booklet, not hard, easy to understand, sometrimes it gets ver ver very boaring
Very understanding, excellent presenter
He is aiight...teaches good ...dont know about exams yet
Pretty good prof
I hate power point.... the lectures are quite boring and taken straight from the book (or actually the website from the publisher of the book). Seems like a nice guy but needs to change the teaching style at least once in a while.
One of the easier first year econ profs, his M/C tests has only FOUR choices as opposed to other profs that has FIVE, questions don't resemlbe study guide.... but just read the textbook and u'll be fine, dont' really need to attend class..
If your taking him for ECON 1000, don't bother coming to class , just read the text and do the study guide well. You'll do fine!
He doesnt curve at all. Doesn't like to help and sends you to the TA. Won't give you an extra mark...
Excellent. He DOES bell curve actually, very fair.
Best proff at york!really nice and helpful.easy exams and fair.enjoyable lectures.
The prof is great, the thing is... you need to like economics. The material isn't too exciting but he makes it as exciting as possible and his tests are totally fair.
This guy is a nice professor but he marks his tests ways too hard. More than half of the class failed his midterm. He needs to take it easy a little with the marking, i mean a low class average isn't necessarily a way to encourage students to study for the next test.
Not bad at all. He definitely goes through all of the material, but it can get boring. Not a tough course though.
His tests are so confusing and hard. He goes way too fast as well. He goes though chapters within a week. Doesn't really explain things too well either.
very bad prof. Doesn't explain clearly and goes way too fast. Tests are impossible and he marks way too hard. Never take a class with this guy because you won't get a good mark. classes are so boring because of those stupid power point slides.at times his language makes it harder to understnad.
Dont take this professor....his tests are extremely hard...1/2 of the class failed....n exam is cumulative and 70%.
charismatic, nice prof = the only good points of him. u must study EVERY little detail in text to get B+ or A, his lectures just regurgitates what's in text already. his SA questions on his tests REQUIRE simple knowledge of integrating mathematics with econ which he goes through in lecture poorly.
This professor is an all around nice guy. People only bash him because they don't take the time to study and complain. I admit his tests can be hard, once as you study for them an review the study guide very very hard, then you will have no problem in his class.
Decent lectures, very clear and helpful. I recommend taking this course in the summer. Tests are narrowed down to a single midterm and final exam, all multiple choice and very fair questions. If you are looking for an A+ (or A), take this course with this prof.
he is good, clear, fast! very organised! truely involves u sometimes, amazing when he gives examples but u can also get lost coz he confuses by repeating like a taperecorder :) and one more thing never trust his words!! believe me on it! over all i am happy with him! better than others! i recommend it as he is good but course is challenging!
Summer course 2 days a week. He lectures totaly out of poerpoint slides. Interesting teacher with easy multiple choice tests. I enjoyed him and would take other classes with him.
his exam is too difficult, half of the class failed!!!!

He is pretty good at explaining the concepts. But I find that his tests do not reflect to what he teaches in lectures. Also, the multiple choice is very confusing due to its wordings. I see a lot of people getting a lower mark than they deserve because of the confusing MCs.
great class
Explains all of the concepts very well. Makes sure everybody understands everything b4 he goes on to the next topic. Tests are based on the textbook; you can not show up to a single class and still get 80+. Multiple choice gets very tricky. Great teacher over all, defiantly recommend this guy.
Very clever and nice proffesor! Knows his material very well! If you ask him will take his time to explain. Of course you need to study on your side to get a good grade
good teacher. had a very fair exam.Tests were harder than the exam. ADVICE: view powerpoint presentations at home on my econlab if you can't make it to class. Know study guide inside out to get a good mark. Has tricky questions where you should know your stuff inside outh. highly recommended if you don't just want the high mark but to learn as well
Gud guy ECON 1010 same exam from previous yrs
his notes doesn't help much, n he doesn't huv much lecture notes, u need to depend on the textbook in the whole course. tests n exam were hard.
JUST FANTASTIC! KNOWS HOW TO TEACH WELL =D
Very nice, and funny professor. Most of the time her makes the lectures fun, which makes it easier to pay attention too
is unfair for his test a. one section's test is so simple, and other section's test is so hard and tricky that more than half of people fail the mid-term. Avoid to take his course.
makes an easy couse extremely hard with rediculous multiple chocie tests... some questions r tricks so be careful and read carefully
BOOOOOORING omg the only time people go to class are for midterm n final (unless u are an econ geek) His tone of voice makes me sleep. Teaches macro using math but tests u bout theory. For midterm read chp 9!!
He is a nice prof, but gives exactly the same previous test papers to tests. This is quiet unfair.
confused fella
he is a good guy and as long as you do the readings and go through the study guide you can get a good mark. no complaints.
he is an **** man come on , he doesnt explain well we all went through his classes and he just annoying and ****ed up i just dont like him
The best proffesor in York and in Economics Department! He is the best! Very smart and plesant to communicare with. Very intellegent and a great human! I would not exchange his for anybody esle :)
bad prof,he teaches good but in exam you realize that by taking this course from noordeh,u have done a big mistake
He's a nice prof but his teaching style is just terrible. He basically just reads off the slides that you can get online with a monotone voice that will almost always put you to sleep.
great
i dont know what the others are talking about...he is a fantastic prof
I dont know what the first two people are talking about. He is a really good prof. Hes easy to follow and clear. Just go to the lectures and you are guaranteed a good mark.

BAD PROF. I WILL NOT TAKE HIS COURSE AGAIN. HE GAVE USELESS LECTURE. AND HE JUST COPIED THOSE POWERPOINT FROM THE COURSE WEBSITE. HE'S NOT RESPONSIBLE AT ALL, ALWAYS MADE MISTAKES,AND NEVER DOUBLE CHECKED WITH HIS EXAM QUESTIONS OR REVIEW QUESTIONS, TONS OF ERRORS. HE'S JUST TERRIBLE~~~IF YOU WANT TO HAVE GOOD MARK, DON'T TAKE HIM.......
He is fighting a vicious duel with Prof. Zandi (also at York) for the title of world's most incompetent lecturer and most boring man.
his practice exams are harder than the real thing...never really attended any lecture besides 0.5 of the first one...too boring...better just use the study guide and the online quizzes from the text website
Absolutely fantastic!! And not boring at all !! If you wanna learn macro , take his class . Fair midterm and exam . Doesn't like it if you are late !!
Nothing to to this guy. Readings, PowerPoints, etc. are all posted online. So, basically, there's no need to attend his class. I liked how he gave a bonus percentage to people who formed study groups though. Otherwise, just read the power point slides and work through your workbook and you'll coast.
this professor is suck a great prof, very funny =)
he has a fun personality...DJ noordeh plays music before starting the class...if only the rest of the darn class were as interesting!!! LOL he teaches fast and the powepoints don't explain things clearly enough, but pay attention n i'm pretty sure u'll do well in the course
plain great...study and you will do fine...hes the nicest prof ive ever had.
He is the greatest prof eveeeeer. Take your classes with him and I promise you won't want to miss a single class. I also think he is very hot, but I don't know why!!!!!!
He's not the greatest teacher but he is not boring to listen to at least. His test are easy for me but the class semms to strugle so i don't really know..
Amazing prof... he makes a hard subject easier. I got an A+ and did not take any economics in high school, I am glad I had him and not someone else. If you want to take economics, be advised: you have to study at least 10 hours a week on your own. It is easy if you study, it is hard if you don't. But one thing is for sure, take Noordeh.
Noordeh is the **** prof in existence, he's like james bond hot... and Indian James bond, super hot... super sexy. That is all.
plain great
Great prof! I had him for ECON 1000. His tests and final exam are very easy! Economics is not hard with him! Very approachable unlike other professors.
he is not boring and he is funny but asside from his personality traits he is not an effective teacher....if you didn't take economics before the chances of you struggling are great...our class average on his mid-term was 58% and its not that the exam was hard its just that he never took the time to breakdown the material so we could understand
He is a good techer
This prof cannot teach! During the lecture he cannot live without his slides & when he tries to explain concepts he confuses himself. His tests are very short (so even if you get a couple of marks off, your mark drops significantly). He is completely useless prof, & you would learn more from just reading the textbook.
welling to help everyone
I've never took economics before and i got A easy! He is funny and his classes r not boring! Willing to stay after class and answer questions. His website is really helpfull and assignments are just easy 30 marks! Good prof! Take it with him!
great
Studied hard, did well up to the midterms, studied harder for the final and bombed it :/ Fell asleep FREQUENTLY during class because of the monotonous tone of his voice.
HE was one of the worst profs i seen he does not kno how to teach wat so ever and his slide are the worst thing ive seen to pass his course i have to attend other profs classes so i can understand wat was goign on
he is pretty good, his lectures are clear, but his midterm was killer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 mid term average was 50
he was an okay prof. if u read the text and follow the slides u should do fine. I got a pretty good mark in his class. he tries to make the class fun with music and jokes, but sometimes he spends too long discussing certain points and not getting through all the other points. Overall a good prof.
took my ECON 1010 with him, he is an amazing prof. he started his classes with nice music and the slides that he was using was fun as well. be prepared for the lectures and you do fine. even though he was a good prof and you enjoy his classes, he might not be the best in teaching introductory ECON cources. take higher econ classes with him.
I took ECON 1000 and 1010 with him and he is awesome. I showed up to probably 25% of the classes and got an A+. Read the textbook, do the study guide, and do the online assignments (which are freeee marks), and you'll ace it.
I am agree he is a nice, friendly teacher! But in my point of view, he is not the great teacher! He is always not coming class ontime, (some pro even come to the class 15 mins earlier) he at least wasted 10 mins for set up and MUSIC!! The class is only 1 hr!!!! So what's the point?! Also, the just repeat the book materials , never break down the ke
The worst prof. in the entire world, sincerely. Trick multiple questions not related to teaching material or texts used. Wines and literally almost cries when students begin leaving his lectures prematurely, no one attends. Teaches like a completely useless imbicile. Why does he exist? Why god why? Lack of clarity and abmiguous test questions...
I think he is not a good pro.Just refer slides. Even though you go to the class, that doesn't mean you got high mark.People who got high mark in his class are people who can study by themselves. I did not learn anything from him.
agree with others, he is the worst econ prof. Did not learn anything from him. Waste of time and money. Reads slides that are not related to class. Tests don't reflect class material. Pick other profs if you can.
At first, seemed like a funny and helpful prof, but his final exam was brutal. Lectures can be boring, but still attend. Take the Aplia option even though some Aplia questions are hard, it should still boost your mark rather than decrease. His ppt slides were terrible though, could have done more examples, and not spend so much time on one topic.
very bad prof. a shame of econ department. cannot teach at all.
Good professor, only economics professor I know which uses powerpoint which is not necessarily a good thing. On the whole reasonable
he would make an excellent comedian....but teaching ain't for you homie especially for first year students who are not economics majors...NOT HELPFUL
Had him for two courses - found Microeconomics easy thanks to this guy. Macro on the other hand, I studied like crazy & somehow managed a lower grade! Only complaint would be the inconsistency of final exams. Otherwise a top-notch professor! (p.s. use the Aplia software to boost your marks)
if u guy never get F grade, I suggest u can take this probs.99% failure happens on u.
tests are too hard for us.how can u finish this difficult course within one month? go to hell.
This professor was able to clearly teach the course material in a fun and interesting environment.. if you attend class and stay on top of the readings you can achieve a high grade in this class!
He's not a bad prof, but his lectures are very dry. It's easy to tune him out because he is so repetitive. On the plus side, his exams a very easy if you have read the material and done the practice questions. If you can work independently, it's an easy A. He's not very helpful. He's almost condescended when you want clarification on some points.
Just reads off powerpoint slides every lecture. 8am class and barely anyone shows up except for tests. Read and study the textbook, study guide, and aplia. A lot of questions pertaining to graphs which can be quite boring and sometimes challenging if math isn't your thing. Try to memorize the textbook and you should be alright.
He's alright, likes to crack jokes when possible to break up the dry material. Slide shows are useful and tests are fair. Read the book and it's a pretty easy class.
exams r a death sentence
this guyz exams are a DEATH SENTENCE.........
Reasonable. Reads off his powerpoint slides which can get boring. Don't ever ask him a question in class! It seemed he got sort of irritated every time someone asked him to clarify something.
He's not d best prof....try getting avi cohen, he's much better. This guy is kinda boring and his tests are quie tuFF too. Good Luck!!:)
Great prof. his classes are fun and he explains very good. exams are not easy, but if you study and attend the class, exams shouldn't be a problem.highly recommend his class
wat can i say...love the subject but hated the prof!!just stck to the text, pray that his tests arent too tuf and well gud luk!!
Nice guy, fair tests, everybody who complains are idiots...as usual
He is a great prof overall. read the study guy for the mid-term but dont rely on it for final. His finals are extremely hard!
well, I did not understand a word he said, he is boring, and when I asked him a question, I found he didn't really answer it. I don't like him as a prof, and I will NEVER take anything else with him
This professor assumes that his slides and lectures are extremelly helpful and clear. He does not have the skills to explain in an University.
Midterm was extremely easy. Study the textbook and you don't even have to go to class. As usual, anyone who complains is retarded
I am not an econ major and have always struggled with it in general. This professor explains things very clearly and gives you more than enough tools to practice and get a good mark. I failed macro with a terrible teacher yet have managed to do fairly well in this course because he is very clear. Nice helpful guy. Use study guide, aplia!
The instructor has an attitude when you ask questions. He is not helpful at all and due to his bad accent and poor language skills you will not understand what he is saying in the lectures. His classes are super boring and very hard to understand the material. My advice: Do not take this course with him if you want a good grade in this subject !
Its unfortunate that those with bad comments need to make an excuse for their own lack of intelligence by blaming the professor. If you think the course is boring, well what did you expect when you signed up for an economics class??? The material is always dry but Noordeh is super helpful and teaches superbly.
This is my second class with Prof Noordeh and I am taking a third class with him this summer. As always he does a great job teaching, his lectures are mostly out of the textbook but he does use a lot of real world examples. Great prof - I def recmmnd him - this guy actually really cares about his students!
Very good professor. The only downsides are the amount of time wasted repeating administrative stuff and finishing lectures early as a result of which we had to skip a few chapters. His communication is very good. Overall a very pleasant professor. I recommend taking his courses.
Not a difficult class overall, make sure you read the textbook well and try to attend as many lectures as possible. Prof was defintely helpful to all students!
Great prof, very helpful to all students, just make sure you read the textbook in a lot of detail!
All the average final mark for every prof. who teach ECON1000 is at similar degree. However, he has best quality of good teacher among all the prof. that I met so far at York U. You will experience relaxing, comfortable learning environment.
Great Prof. Hilarious and love it when he cuts off the dummies.
he's very helpful, but don't forget to read the book thoroughly.
He expands on slides that relate to the text but he requires students to read the book and understand it. His exams contained many multiple choice questions which can get tricky but his grading scheme was helpful for students.
he is by far the EASIET prof ever.. u ever wanna n A without putting much effort he is the guy. helpful, but sarcastic sometimes. attend his classes, and MAKE SURE HE KNOWS U BY NAME. MUST ATTEND classes, or he'll be offended lool. boring classes, but as long as u get the mail point of the stuff, thats all that matters.
The tests were not difficult as long as you read the books and practiced the questions on the study guide. I never attended class and got a B+ in micro and macro with noordeh. His favorite line is GUYS MAKE SURE YOU TALK LOUUUDDD ANND CLEARRRRR IM DEAF which he actually is he has a hearing aid.
If you read the textbook and study you'll get a great mark.
great prof, do as he says, practise the study guide, read the text, what he teaches in class is a reiteration from the textbook. Gives out fair tests. overall good course with this guy.
He's alright. He teaches well but the textbook is MANDATORY if you want a good grade. He midterm was easy BUT his exam was killer. I attended every lecture, studied off notes + read textbook and he end up putting stuff never taught in the course OR textbook...Trust me, I still finished with an A in the course though. Overall, decent A, hard A+.
He's very fair in his grading. Some exam questions might catch you off guard, but if you do the myeconlab problems & read over the study guide, you're in for a good mark! He knows what he's doing, and he does his best to explain it. He himself admits econ's boring, so he tries his best to make it fun!
Prof Noordeh was wonderful. Microeconomics is fairly straightforward and dull material, but he made the lectures interesting enough. Combine his accent with poor acoustics and you get communication issues, so be sure to review textbook material prior to lectures. Still, a brilliant professor, and kind man.
Challenging to understand him. Relies on the PowerPoint, making it meaningless to attend class. His exams were standard for the course, and he barely updates his website - almost reluctantly. Refers all questions to his TAs. Not a bad individual, just a tad cold.
Professor A. Noordeh is excellent, he really wants to see the student do well, he teaches the course slowly/clearly to make sure all the students understand the material (at times even refreshing 1st-year material) But the student has to put in effort, as this course can get complex. I suggest you take advantage of the TA (if one is there).
Easy course, decent prof. His lectures are killer though. Really slow paced and takes forever to get through a topic. At least he tries to work in some humor.
Worst prof I've ever had so far. Hard to keep my eyes open during lectures. Made us read more chapters than other profs/classes. Drop out if you have him IMMEDIATELY.
This professor is the worst. He has a horrible accent, reads straight off of PowerPoint slides, and has the worst course structure from all the ECON professors. His exam covers more chapters than all other professors (almost double than some of them). WARNING: switch out immediately!!!
WORST PROF EVER! Seriously avoid him at all costs. He doesn't teach at all. When you ask him questions he just rambles on about something pointless. He has no online quizzes (free marks) and makes his exam double the size of other Econ profs. Honestly the worst experience I've ever had with a prof. Switch out now!
One of the harder ECON professors. He's nice and tries to explain things but he just ends up making the material more confusing when he deviates from the slides. Doesn't convey things very well. Very slow paced and redundant at the beginning of lecture. Much harder tests and exams compared to other sections. No online quizzes.
worst experience of my life. why god… why...
No, just no.
too hard exam! double question than other section!
Just save yourself the trouble and get another prof
There is no point in attending his lectures because he all he does is read from the textbook and all of the questions that appear on the exam are from the textbook and my econ lab. He isn't terrible but nor is he a good professor, all you have to do is your readings and you should be fine.
bad Instructor! more challenge than others!save ur time and money! live hime along!
Incredibly intelligent professor, a trait which many people completely disregard, he knows what he is talking about and conveys it in a matter that might not be the quickest, but is at a pace for everyone to eventually grasp if the effort is put into it, people hating on noordeh either do not appreciate his smarts, or have no interest in economics
Pretty boring material, but extremely easy class. I didn't attend most of his lectures and I studied from the textbook and ended up with an A+. I found his lectures are pretty much pulled from the textbook and the pace is way too slow for me, so personally it was easier to study at home. Easy midterms, easy final.
To be honest, I've stopped attending his classes after the 2nd week or so. He does go at an extremely slow pace (which sometimes, is a good thing for every one to understand), which is probably one of the reasons I skipped. Overall, he does seem like a VERY nice prof, and midterms / finals were extremely easy. Take him if you can study on your own!
You need to study hard. His course is not a bird course. His explanation is okay, enough for you to understand.
Honestly his lectures are extremely textbook based and his tests were not easy. That's not to say they were hard but not a bird course like some people say. I attended most lectures but they were pretty boring and not very useful for me. He threw a couple of tricks in the tests and exam. But overall he seemed like a really nice guy and funny too!
Terrible prof. He comes to the class and just reads from the presentation. He has no will to actually teach. Just terrible.
Terrible prof. He comes to the class and just reads from the presentation. He has no will to actually teach. Just terrible prof.
One of the worst pro ever. He dosnt want u to pass he in fact wants u to fail.take his f*cking class if u want to ruin ur life. Tests r extreamely hard he copies test questoons from other books, even if u study hard u still have no idea of the question. U have two options 1-Heaven 2-hell.
questions are tricky, boring class, he's not interested in lecturing, and so on. dont take it with him
extremely hard questions, second midterm with average, 53 which shows weakness of teacher, so its clear, that u would be in trouble. i dont recommend his class. save ur mmoney and precious time. and all people who commented below me are right. i agree with them.
Going to class is useless and so is buying the book. The tests are extremely similar to the the study guide. The study guide is a different book sold at the book store. The lecture slides are easy and they are basically the book. Bought the book and haven't used it once.
Not the easiest one out there, but he's decent. Very disorganized though, posts slides a week late, so pre-reading is difficult. Slow paced, and jumps from chapter to chapter. No flow of information which makes it hard to follow along. Unless you're willing to make this a priority above others, better off with another prof
just don't take it with him. you would end up with lower mark or fail. no flow of additional details or examples to make topics clear. boring class and he himself is boring. It's a shame on department of economics with this kind of teacher. plz save your money and time ans switch right away otherwise u will be regretful
This teacher is useless. U wont learn anythimg from him study on ur own. Going to class is completely useless. Unexpected questions on the test. Midterm and final are based on advanced macroeconomics.
Very bad experience , i took this course as a bird course and i regret i ended spending all of my time studying for this course and i would still fail his exams. His exams are advanced and shouldnt be to first year student! NEVER TAKE IT WITH THIS PROFESSOR! it doesnt matter how smart you are you are going to still spend alot of time for his exams!
Easiest 3000 level course I have ever taken. Barely went to class, studied off his lecture slides and it was quite enough. His exam was extremely easy, class average was quite high.
OMG so SO boring!! Does nothing but read off of his slides. You don't even need to attend his class! Just study of the slides and you'll be good to go. You don't even need to buy the book!
Read off his slides, even the examples he used were from the textbook. Pretty boring dude, but his exams were straight forward. He posts stuff late and emails late, sometimes never at all. But I don't care because I just need a prof whos exams are fair and his was. Got a B+
I didn't do well in this class, He once yelled at me for asking a question, and apologized to the class to accommodate students that are slow in grabbing things. All I can say is work hard and you'll excel, his two midterms were fair but his exam was deadly. Going for classes didn't profit me at all, study ahead and make use of your TA.
He is a very nice and motivating professor. I had blended course but i went to every class because the way he teaches it makes you understand very well and not fall sleep during his classes. He provides the lecture notes and all the information needed on MYECONLAB but you'll be good just by going to his classes.
this prof is the worst don't take anything with him
He's very helpful and goes into detail about almost all concepts. However its a little hard to understand him with his accent and sometimes pauses in the middle of sentences to try to think of how to say what he wants to say in English and by the time he gets it, you forgot what he was talking about in the first place. Hard assessmentsbell curved
He is extremely helpful! I enjoyed the class a lot. He was fast to reply to my emails and was very compassionate. He is a great lecturer. Do not listen to anyone, you have to study for classes none is going to spoon feed you all the material. Easy quizzes, lots of practice. Book is a must! Attendance is not mandatory! Would recommend 100%!!!
If economics comes easy to you or are very comfortable in grasping text book material then this may be ok for you. If you're not very strong w the topic but love econ & need to understand concepts instead of just "do what you're told" then this one may not be for you. He will likely kill your love or interest for economics. Use your TAs heavily.
Goes very slow and during his lectures he tends to mumble a lot and takes a lot of breaks in between words to think. Seems as though he is just winging the lecture on the spot without any preparation whatsoever. With this being said, it is hard for the student to understand what he is trying to explain. You're better off studying the lecture notes.
If you have a high affinity for Econ, you'll do great. However, if you do not have a high affinity for it, no matter how smart you are (or think you are), stay away. He may be a Dr. of Econ but he's not good, at all, in teaching Econ. Macro Econ feels a bit more convoluted compared to micro so thread with extreme care w Dr. Noordeh.
Okay prof. Not the greatest but gets the job done. Tests are tough and he's not always prepared.
He can help you out if you ask him. First midterm was not so bad. Second one was difficult (class average was 52) and the final was difficult as well so you have to study hard for this one!
Simple piece of advice is to not take this class with Noordeh. ECON 1000&1010 are relatively easy courses but not with this prof. Several people fail and the tests are way too difficult.
Took ECON 1000 with him. Personally, I didn't like his lectures, because he takes long pauses, and in those pauses you literally zone out. Not saying he is horrible, he is a good prof, he cracks jokes and asks opinion of the students, even though his classes are huge as theaters.I just see don't find the clarity in his lectures.
He is funny, course is 40% his lectures %60 textbook and labs. Final exam questions are hard to interpret, but actually easy.
I seldom go to his class as taking his class is no difference with reading the book by myself. His test is tough. As you can get A- or B in other pros' tests by just looking through the textbook roughly, you must work really hard to get an A in his course. If not, you may fail.
YOOOO DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKING THIS CLASS WITH HIM. HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENTS. HIS MICRO QUIZ FOR 10% FELT LIKE AN EXAM!! JUST DONT.
Online quizes boost your mark; good explanation: only multipule choice; however be ready for final
Horrible teaching, boring; only reads off the slides and when he tries not to he messes up and gets concepts confused. Takes super long to get through slides, you'll fall asleep
I did really bad on his tests even after studying hard. The questions on his tests are so tricky and confusing, not straightforward at all. The exam was worth 50% and I put in my best shot, studied hard, and it boosted my overall grade heavily. ECON1000 can be much easier with another professor.
Great Prof.
very nice & funny professor. lectures can be boring, but if you take blended online/in-class I recommend doing the textbook readings each week (jot down a few notes), following the study plan on myeconlab, and doing the practice exams online. sure to be successful by doing so! I didn't go to any lectures.
Straightforward, throws in a joke here and there, and is overall a great prof. Lectures can get boring at times, but if you take the blended course then everything will work itself out.
Hes a very good lecturer.
Class attendance usually very low (boring lecturer). Heavily based online with weekly homework's and a couple online quizzes. Comes off as lazy and does little to help, provides very little help when emailed. Exams are very difficult and expects you to draw out entire diagrams and graphs, offers no guidance or prep on how to best prepare for them.
Midterm is easy, final is a little bit harder The overall is not so hard Focus more on the graph, his question is very directly to test you.
I just didnt like how he spent most of the class lecturing us on being late. he also went on and on about how we dont use moodle. i just felt like i taught myself the whole course. boring lectures but he seems like a nice guy thats trying to explain
His classes are easy if you do all the readings he assigns, come prepared to lectures to understand the material better.
Lectures are boring. Reads off the slides. Can easily get angry if class fails to participate. Text book will be your best friend.
Freaking terrible accent. Cannot understand what he teaches. The lecture is boring, but he is a good guy :))
He is a great prof. However, he didn't come prepared for a few classes, so he had to waste time thinking out a few examples. Read slides, and then often make mistakes elaborating the points. (will correct them next class)
Decent course, but tough. Good professor & cares about his students, but you basically teach yourself the whole course. If you aren't going to pay attention in class don't show up because he doesn't like when people are on their phones. Don't waste his time and he won't waste yours. There are lots of resources offered to help you with ECON courses.
Knowledgable. Have to go to class as he does not upload anything online.
Didnt post any materials AT ALL. Doesnt prepare himself before class. Lots of mistakes while explaining the core content. Refuse exam deferral at all so students will have to go straight to petition. Avoid taking his class
Avoid this prof. He doesn't understand economic himself. Didn't explain course materials well and has no exam deferral for both midterm and final exam even for those with legit reason/proof at all.
Here's the thing. Took 4 diff courses with him. Every semester there's gonna be something that makes his cut classes and put the midterms or finals earlier than normal. For this sem, the ECON3411's final exam is 2 weeks earlier than the final exam period, which is 6th of June. Extremely unfair to students. Avoid taking his class
This professor puts the final exam on the last week of class just to attend a conference somewhere. Extremely unfair. Avoid his class. Report him if he does that to your class too
Extremely nice. Ignore all the negative comments. This is my second course with him and although i did not do well, I have learnt a lot of valuable knowledge from him.
47% of his class failed the first mid term and he did not attempt to bell curve or help in any way besides lecturing us on how we should be putting more effort
The guy knows his stuff, but he cant teach it. He reads off the slides every class, so youre better off taking the blended online/class course cuz u wont learn anything by showing up. The tests are super hard, so expect a 50% average, but everyone does so poorly that you all get curved anyway.
One of the worst professors I've ever had, provides almost no materials, aside from powerpoints riddled with mistakes (which is devastating in math formulae). Arrogant, and blames the students for poor grades despite being a very poor lecturer. Refuses to move midterm weight to final unlike other econ profs, then gets upset when half of class fails
This is the worst prof I've ever taken, he's a very tough grader and his teaching style is awful he just reads off his powerpoints. His practice questions were really hard and his exams had nothing to do with the practice questions. Avoid him if you could.
do not ignore the negative comments. i would never choose any of his courses again. he doesn't post any problem sets or anything would help you for the exam. the only thing he posts that summary of lecture notes which are not good enough.
Art is really bad he doesnt understand how to teach, he uses the generic slides and doesnt help you for the exams. I really bad prof.
He is worst Professor in York . He just read slides , rarely use Black board . He doesn't post any practice problem and exams are hard . Even you will not learn much in his class . Try to avoid him
The quizzes and tests are standardized since its online. He's not that great of a prof. He's like meh.
I dislike time constraints he puts on his class when we pay for a class that outlines from 10am to 11:30am, but he leaves around 10:48 because he has another class. I find this highly unprofessional. On occasions, he can present some extremely stressful situations for inclass questions simply because you're distracted by him saying the time limit.
Online lecture modules were alright and online quizzes/tests were fair. Most of lecture was spent rereading the modules and doing clickers. 20% clicker (where correct answers matter) is absolute insanity, but that's on the department, not him. He seems like he cares about his students, but the structure of this course held him back.
As a Yorku alumnus I've taken a few courses with him. He's not a bad guy but personally I think he's only a good choice to take econ 1000/1010 with. Very hard exams for upper level courses and to make it worse he does not do much to help you understand the concept (which is proved by some of the comments below >.<)
it's better to keep him as an intro micro prof. Upper micro courses with him were brutally difficult. Get ready to practice ALOT. Lectures don't help much since he skims through the chapters and math-part, while the exams were math rigor. Nice and sweet professor in general. Always willing to set appointments for office hours to clear any doubts.
Just reads off his incomplete and abstract slides. Math is extensive yet he shows no methodologies or calculations. You're better off reading the textbook and hoping for the best. Not the most competent professor for upper-year classes. It's best if he does first/second-year courses.
