He was always late to class. Always giving excuses about his tardines. Even the first class he missed it. He is not organized at all. If you had to turn in an assignment or an essay, he will give it back to you a month later. He thinks he knows everything
He takes extra pants to school.
He's full of**** (that's why he needs the extra pants)
He's a funny guy sometimes, but other times he's sarcastic and not funny at all. He tends to make remarks in reference to politics (and sometimes religion) in class, and i'm sure it's against college policy to do that - he could get in trouble. He was the only professor at MDC that gave me a B on a paper on time. Whatever, I guess he's ok.

He's comical and at times sarcastic and witty. Very knowledgeable person in the subject of Literature. Needs better time management but the tardiness dosen't really take away from the class.
He cames across as real tough and scary teacher at first but he turned out to be pretty easy. His quizzes were easy and the essays were ok. He's very knowledgeable and I thought he was a great teacher. His class is the type of class you have to put time into and you have to do a lot of reading and writing but it's bearable.
He is extremenly hilarious and is a tremoundously good teacher. I RECOMEND HIM.
Not one of my favorites yet indeed, one of the most prepared teachers I have seen in Miami Dade.
A bit arrogant but if you manage to get past that you'll realise that he's easy & all he does in every class is talk about the essays you were assigned to read,& then he assigns a paper on each of them. There are only 4 papers & a few quizzes based on the essays. If you keep up with the few things he asks & don't miss many classes you'll be perfect.
The class itself is really dumb but he makes the best of it by telling funny stories and jokes. He assigned good books to read and was not that difficult when grading. Overall, Id recommend him.
Just shut up in class and you will be fine!
Anything with IDH as part of a course id is a waste of time and Professor Gonzalez is one the few who sympathizes with the student. The class is easy enough. Do everything he asks and try not to bs to much and you'll get an "A".
he is boring and talk too much. he thinks he knows everything. don't take him. not a good teacher.
hes ok... very arrogant.. gets annoying especially when u have to take his morning class.. i suggest another teacher..if your not into lectures... the work is easy... work on your research paper.. very important.. read the stupid stories and get an easy A on the quiz.
take 4 quizzes very easy and 3 reaction papers and that's it. he is a nice teacher just do the homework because he won't help you to raise your grade, you get what get no even a 0.001 more to pass the course
took him for ENC1101 and 2 and was SOoOoOO easy!!!! you cant fail this class..its very simple assignments and very few of them, and he explains them to you many times and gives you a month for each assignment. There are only 4 assignments...all you have to do is show up to class and hear him talk about everything BUT ENGLISH..i reccomend this class
He will challange your thoughts: religion, politics, and many other social issues.Makes what I think is a boring class very interesting. He is tough grading and I had to work hard. But overall, i would say that he does the job that a college professor should do: MAKE YOU THINK FOR YOURSELF.He is funnier that his voice, take him and you'll see (LOL)
Extremely tough grading for an elective class. You have to read 5 comic books & you will get a quiz on each one, sometimes during back to back weeks. Two essays of 4 pages each about a movie or book of his choice & not a summary or you will get an F. A presentation of 10-15 minutes and for every minute short or over you will loose a letter grade.
awesome prof!
never take this class with him he is horrible
he is a very good teacher if you follow directions his class is easy. I like his point of view in iraq war. i agree with him bush is the worse president ever bush must die.
he should write a book. and its totally obvious he wrote a few of those comments himself.
Not a good teacher at all.Talks a lot all day. Very boring class.
Two term argumentive essays are due the whole semester, there is a quiz every week on an assigned chapter, and an 20 min. verbal presentation. No mis term or final is given. He can't make things any easier if you read & do the work. The worse part is having to listen to him talk about a whole bunch of BS for 2 1/2 hours. Enough to put you to sleep!
He is a pompous and arrogant. At first he seems like he will be hard but if you read the chapters, and you can write (have good grammar) then he ends up being really easy. His bark is worse than his bite. He tells you EVERYTHING he expects clearly, if you listen and give him that then you will pass. An easy teacher in my book.
He is a hard teacher...yes he could be arrogant at times and yes he might think he knows everything but he's a good teacher and WILL help you if you need the help..Do your RESEARCH PAPER and the quizzes areeasy as long as you read the stories...the only thing is them stupid critical essays but hey....it is ENC 1102...if you just wanna lay back n no
As long as you do the work he asks( which is not hard at all) you get a good grade. He does love to hear himself talk, but otherwise he is a "GREAT" professor.
I have to admit that professor gonzales had a lot of patient with me because I have mental disability. If the student listen to his request doing homework and assigment will pass course with good grade. He is very intelligent and very open minded. I enjoy his class very much. He is always available when we need his help. Excelent teacher.
the profesor is excellent, i would recomment that u take him/easy A if u do all his assignment. quizes are easy and the essays are easy//just follow direction and you'll be ok
Great teacher, very helpful! He is very sarcastic sometimes, but overall very funny. I think this class taught me a lot. GOOD TEACHER!!!!
very sarcastic and pessemistic and loves to hear himself talk. if you do the work and follow his instructions its an easy A
He is very opiniated in respect to politics and social views, he will make interesting points in class and he will stimulate your thoughts and make you think for yourself he teaches you to be skeptical. He is very comical, his voice is funny, he is a great performer, he should be a standup comidian, he beats Chris Rock and Carlos Mencia.
GREAT teacher! Fun topics and gives great tips for writing. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is interested in writing and the English subject. Helpful examples in class!
Delightful sarcasm and refreshing skepticism. He teaches you the power of literature and graphic novels, the importance of communicating. And who can forget his infamous quote?: "...Don't worry, we all know superman is coming" --Ariel Gonzalez
His class is okay... he says attendance is mandatory but it's not really. You read a lot, however there are no test just 3 papers and an extra credit essay to replace one of your papers. He likes your ideas to be "original". He grades harsh. He's bias when it comes to grading. The students he likes will get an advantage.
Well prior to the beginning of the semester, I thought to myself "Literature, what a drag!" Boy was I wrong, I usually hate everything that has to do with reading, but this man knows his stuff and makes it very interesting. He really teaches you how to analyze a piece of literature. As long as you do what he asks and read all the books, you will be
He was a delight he failed me first... but that was totally on me extremely sarcastic and funny interesting individual and he's a super great teacher loved him
Highly recommend him. Funny, smart, interesting, not difficult to get a good grade if you put in the effort. Should write a book - has lots and lots and lots to say. Talk less, listen more in this class. Wikipedia or Goggle famous authors and mention them in class to impress him.
He is the best professor I have ever had in my life, and this is my second bachelor. He talks a lot, but I love to hear him talking. The quizzes are easy and he is really nice grading. At the beginning you think he is gonna be really hard, but then you realize is the role he likes to play in order to make people do their best. AWESOME PROFESSOR.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!His class is super boring he loves to talk and don't shut his mouth EVER. He is very sarcastic and when he refers to people he try to make you look like a fool. Anyways HORRIBLE teacher, the worst english teacher I ever encounter.
He is so funny and cynical. He is extremely smart and he knows what he is talking about. If you are stupid do not take his class cause you wont get good grades. To get a grade you have to do 3 essay and 3 quizzes (based on essays from a book...super easy). I liked his classes.
HATERS!! He is a great teach in the sense that he will make u suffer til the end. great grading syst go 2 class LISTEN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS & u r good dont go over the 2 unexcused absence he will deduct pts fr final grade but not that much lol. He has a mask on in class all the time as if he was mean but he is not. he will pick on u if u dnt listen
Interesting Teacher to say the least alot of personal stories. He has alot of quizzes!!!!! Every Monday of the week!! Read all weekend then Quiz then he lectures the rest of the week!! Should be taken if your a good writer, as he is very good just don't expect his class to be a cake walk.
I liked him at first but things later turned sour. I don't want to fully blame him for my veering away from pursuing English as a major, but he's made me feel bad about my writing. Let's just say he's not opposed to embarrassing people in class in bad taste. Kinda smarmy.
Hardest A I ever worked for at mdc
he is really crazy. nearly 10 quizzes and that is half percent of the whole grade. He uses peer review and then give you the grade. never take his classes.
NEVER take him, he is the worst teacher, he THINK he is funny but he is NOT!!!! he doesnt grade fairly, and he is hard to understand
Do not take this teach. Ever. He talks WAY too much, thinks he's funny and clever when he's not and loves to use peer-review, which is completely stupid and useless.
He talks a lot but it's very interesting. Most of his lectures have nothing to do with the class; you can get away without ever showing up to class but he wants students to be there. He's ALWAYS late! Seems scary but he's not that bad. Can be a pain sometimes though. No final exam or midterm!
You have to come to class with an open mind and it is your decision to appreciate what is being taught. This is not your average textbook class. A lot of reading, and great discussions. If you are not into intellectual discussions, dont take the class. It was a great experience. He can be intimidating, but he's brilliant, andhas agreat sense of humor
In the beginning I was quite interested in the course which was based on the graphic novel since I really enjoy comics. Although the novels (comics) and discussions were interesting, Professor Ariel Gonzalez wasn't. He was terribly arrogant and unhelpful if one could not understand what the general goal was - i.e. his quizzes and writing demands.
he talks a lot. the first day day in a sarcastic tone he asked, but no answer was given even by himself, "What can I do for the students which English is not their first language"? Why are you in this class? Does that really matters? Should he be asking that type of questions? By the other hand he insinuated in a tone of voice that people that are
he does not like people that English is not it's first language,he discriminate them but he has a strong accent, difficult to understand, do not recommend him
I love this teacher! He opens up your mind to think out of the box. Yea he might be a little rude but so what? Just do what you got to do. He's not there to be your friend. The class is simple in the sense that as long as you do the essays and read the assigned texts you'll be good.
I LOVE his class! Yes he does talk a lot, but believe me he has lot of interesting things to talk about. He knows about everything and every topic. If you keep up with homework and such a few easy essays, class is easy to pass. His class is truly worth it! =)
No midterm or final. 50% of your grade is quizzes from the assigned readings. 50% is from 3 essays he assigns. Class discussions were usually about current events. Very mind opening discussions. Just show up to class, and do the assignments. Its not really that bad.
THIS TEACHER GETS FRUSTRATED WHEN A STUDENT DOES NOT KNOW THE ANSWER, SO HE GETS UPSET AND DOES NOT HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE READINGS THROUGH OUT THE TERM AND HE IS NEVER AVAILABLE.
LOVED his class! It's not hard at all if you study. No midterm or final. He does have an odd sense of humor which some people find rude, but he's actually funny. Would love to take another one of his classes in the future! :)
Awesome professor. First day he may seem a bit intimidating, but that quickly changes. Very easy class, no midterm or final. He has 5 quizzes, 3 creative writing essays, and 3 regular essays. He's really funny in a nerdy way and keeps you interested in the class. He also offers extra credit opportunities.
Awesome teacher! Intelligent, funny, and keeps the class interesting. I recommend his class if you're looking for a class where you will actually make use of your brain. I wish he taught an 1102 class!
THE FIRST IMPRESSION MAY MAKE YOU WANT TO RUN BUT THE INTRODUCTIONS OF ASSIGNMENTS WILL KEEP YOU THERE. BUT ONCE IT WAS TIME TO START THESE ASSIGNMENTS, IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE A WALK IN THE PARK ANYMORE BUT QUIZES ARE SIMPLE AS LONG AS YOU READ AND THE WRITING ASSIGNMENTS CHALLENGE YOU TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. ONLY THE STRONG WILL SURVIVE.GREAT CLASS
Great teacher, he's strict about the work he assigns but he's one of the most amazing teachers I've had. I wish he could have been my enc1102 teacher as well.
He didn't seem to like me very much, but thats not a part of his job. He takes his class seriously, but still is able to add humor. He made learning fun as long as you made his job enjoyable. He cares, cares enough to scold you when you're wrong; but he only does it to make you better. He never liked my writing but did try and help it. I enjoyed it
At first i thought i was going to be miserable in this class, and felt like getting up and running away after about the first 20 minutes of class, but it all turned out great in the end. hes a very caring teacher, funny and only expects for you to try hard do your assignments and be in class.i wish i get an opportunity to have him for another class
Awesome class....it starts slow but the conversation in this course is breathtaking.
Very hard to understand, poor pronunciation. Unpolite, rude, makes no sense. How a Professor can recomend students take other "remedial" classes at the beginning of the Semester? We are there to LEARN! If a student passed the PERT, why does he/she have to take more remedial classes. This Person should no teach at MDC it is shame for the College.
Very bad teacher, DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is really hard with the essays and have 7 quizes for the clases.
I have now taken Professor Gonzalez for two different classes and I have to say I really do enjoy his method of teaching. As a struggling English major he really pushes us to try our best and grades us honestly, not a mediocre grade. He's funny and his classes are intellectually interesting and stimulating.
He's a great teacher. He knows tons of random facts so he keeps you interested. Very intelligent and clear. If you read you'll pass all the quizzes and he's extremely helpful. He may come off a little rough but you get used to it. I really do recommend him for anyone who wants to be a better writer.
Great professor. Really enjoyed this class, his sarcastic sense of humor and peculiar personality make the lectures rather entertaining. 7 quizzes, 3 essays, no midterm or final. Just do what’s asked of you, don’t slack, or have excessive absences and you should be fine.
Ok let's try to be honest here. If english is not your first language don't take him you reducing your chances to have a good grades. You have to love ready and good at make summary of what you read. His class drove me crazy . So demanding as a prof but .....
Very rude person, he doesn't teach how to do his essays, he just ask for an essay and expect everybody knows how he likes it. You have a quiz every week and 4 essays. Don't take his class
This is a very rude professor. Don't take him!
5 Quizzes, 3 Essays. Have to listen to his instructions carefully, the quizzes are easy. No multiple choice questions. The essays have to be 3 pages long. Use your common sense. No homework. Pretty easy... I will take him again for ENC1102. Must attend all classes. Good professor overall.
interesting
Really hard proffesor, many quizes and 3 main essays. NO MIDTERM AND NO FINAL!!! He is really hard grading the essays and he doesnt explain how he wants the essays.. he is really smart and classes are interesting.. but you have to work really hard for an A
This teacher is crazy! he doesn't understand that each student has a different learning process... He is rude and he is not very helpful giving feedback. If you want to be a writer take him but if not stay away from him... Expects you to know everything already
He's a great professor, made me realize that through literature you can better understand people. Not a tough grader if you actually put your best effort. He's not rude, he is truthful and wants you to understand what you're doing wrong. Explains things thoroughly, if you don't listen then it's your fault. Would definitely take his class again.
I took this professor for ENC1101 as well, he displayed tough love because he cares. He takes the time to explain to you why he doesn't think what you wrote was good, he comes off rude at first but he's genuine. Helps a lot and truly loves to teach as I can tell. I would take him again. I learned A LOT.
If English is not your first language, Professor Gonzalez's class might be hard for you. But he makes the classes interesting with his incredible and various knowledge and his sarcastic sense of humor. If you read thoroughly the essays, you will get A to all the quizzes. Challenging class, but it is worth it. Just work for it.
After the first class I wanted to drop the class... Come off as rude and all over the place. However, as the semester went on, he really grew on me. Classes were pretty interesting, learned a lot of new things through the readings and class discussions. Would take again for sure.
I took this guy and to tell you the truth he is super rude. What really gets me is the fact that he mentioned in his syllabus that students need to show him respect when he doesn't any at all. I don't advice anyone to take that guy..
Gonzalez will forever be memorable . First day I walked in his class he came off as intimidating and rude .It took a while for both students and him to really get comfortable. As the summer term progressed, he showed how wise he was, showed his students how much he cared, very inspirational he really grew on me 4 quizzes 3 essays . Challenging.
You'll never be bored during lectures. There are short reading assignments that he will quiz on; they don't require tremendous studying but you do have to read them. 3 essays, all easy. He'll give specific requirements and you'll pass as long as you follow them. He's really great. He reminded me why I love to write. Will remember him
There are 3 essays in his class. Take time writing the essays because he is very specific on what he wants.
He was straightforward on what he wants in his class. If you really want to learn, I would take him again. Sometimes he would go overboard with the conversation in out topic, but you still learn from what he's talking about.
I had professor Gonzalez for ENC1101 and to be completely honest this was the most entertaining class i had that semester. He is very knowledgeable and can talk for hours.. literally but most of what he says is very interesting. You can tell he is passionate about teaching and it is very inspiring. Tried to take him again this semester for ENC1102
Very smart but rude and arrogant. Don't take him
Very specific, just give him what he wants on the essays and pass all the quizzes that are based on readings. Don't take this if English is not your strong language. You'll fail.
He is very specific with what he wants. A tough grader. English 1 easy, English 2 hard. Btw lots of reading.
He is very knowledgeable and fair with the students, although a tough grader. He gives feedbacks that help you to improve you writing; however, he is also expecting that you have a college writing level already. Not a big deal if English is your second or third language. Good professor overall .
This was one of my favorite classes of the semester. He's a tough professor because he actually wants you to learn. He's very honest and straightforward!! I learned a lot in his class and have improved as a writer. Also be prepared to write a lot of essays. I would definitely recommend him.
He is a great professor. Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy A. He is a very tough grader but he is very specific about what he wants in his essay.
I really enjoyed taking this class. At first, I was worried about how strict he would be as a professor but as the course progressed I realized that he really does care about his students and he only wants to push us to our greatest potential. I loved taking this course with him!
Very unforgiving grader. Does not grade anything on time so you wont know your progress until grades post basically, yet he wants things on time no excuses. I thought i was doing great until the grades posted at end of semester. Also is not clear and specific about what hes looking for in assignments.
Don't take classes with this professor . He's super arrogant and rude. You won't pass the class because he is crazy. If you wanna pass 1101 take other professor !!!
His instruction wasn't very specific, but he does provide good feedback. Takes a little long to respond to E-mails. Sends lots of reminders. He is a tough grader and very meticulous when grading papers.
Very annoying, especially at the beginning. Get ready to read for a deeper context (nothing superficial) and to write in a new way (non-chronologically, only about details). Takes up too much class time to rant about politics, even interrupted an after class extra credit quiz to rant. Take advantage of extra credit quiz and essay.
If you really want to get a C take this professor. You gotta read 20 pages for taking a quiz. He is never happy for what you write. If you want to become a writer take him, otherwise run away from this guy.
He answers email as soon as he can. He is really a tough grader , so if you want a good grade do not take him. If you do, try to stay on top of your test, homework, quizzes and also his nonsense discussions, at least you might get a C
If you want to be a writer, go ahead take the advantage he would be really useful. Otherwise just DON'T
To be fair, he's an awesome guy and super funny. I'm a visual learner, and sitting there for hours just listening to him talk is killer. I would have to fight with myself to pay attention. If you care about your grade he'll care for you, but if you don't put the effort, you're screwed.
A great professor, but not for the faint of heart. You will have to work hard for that A. Still, he will help you become a more coherent writer. The work is definitely worth it.
This Professor does not care about your progress, he does not explain how you can become a better writer, his class is very interesting but he does not develop the topics need to improve your abilities.
Hes a really tough grader. He tells you upfront what you want. I dont think he gives such good feedback on your essays though. He tells you what he doesnt like and scratches things off but doesnt really provide feedback on how to improve. He will try to be intimidating at first but then begins to loosen up after first week.
great professor, gives great feedback
Online class was easy. He doesn't just give A's away on papers, you have to put the work in. He looks for critical thinking and analysis on the required readings, so don't expect to skate by with fluff writing. Not the best at responding to emails. Also gave little to no feedback on papers which to me is essential to a student's development.
Professor Gonzalez treats students like two year old children
Isnt very fun. Not interactive as other teachers.
Get Ready To actually do work in this class, gives a ton of Assignments hard grader books are needed in order to pass
Easiest class ever if you're not lazy! Some people complain about all the tough grading on his essays but really he's trying to help you become a better writer. There was no exams, only three essays required and six quizzes from a book that you will have to buy. He also gives extra credit at the end of the semester to replace your lowest grades.
Prof Gonzalez is a great teacher. He can come off as mean at first but throughout the semester he loosens up. He can be a tough grader so don't take his class if you want an easy A, take it if you want to learn and be willing to try. He gave us 3 essays on interesting topics and 6 quizzes out of a book. He gives extra credit for both at the end.
One of the rudest teachers I have ever had. He is a little bit weird, and I think he has internal problems that indirectly bring them to class. I do not like his personality, and I do not have any respect for him as a teacher. I would never recommend him.
good teacher.
Do not take this professor! It feels like she is here just to get people to sign up for her class then drops you for any reason. She gives a ton of work in which she decides which one actually counts but still wants you to complete everything that you wont even get credit for doing. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! PICK ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
I became better at analyzing texts because of him. In the first paper I did not get a grade I wished for, but for the following papers, I started working on it ahead of time and visited his office hours for feedback. He comes off as mean and rude at first, but he is a very interesting individual that wants students to better themselves.
This guy grades essays like Gordon Ramsey in Hell's Kitchen, except he doesn't even know what he wants. He will tell you one thing on the first draft, but bring it in again and he'll tell you to rewrite the essay, only to REVERT his decision later. The only reason I passed the class was that the quizzes were easy and I had great attendance.
I know the whole class and myself can agree that this was the only class we looked forward to everyday. Mr Gonzalez made this whole class bearable. He will pull you aside and give you the opportunity with a lot of time in advance to pass if he sees youre failing. He might seem tough but he cares. We thank you for giving us the best experience.
This class will require you to be on top of your work and think critically. I highly recommend utilizing his office hours - these visits are what allowed me to pass his class, as they helped me to better understand where he was coming from with the assignments. If you aren't good at writing, taking his 1102 class will probably be difficult for you.
He tells you EXACTLY what you need. He gives three quizzes and three essays. The quizzes are based on short stories that are actually really fun to read, but you HAVE to read them. He's tough on grading the essays. Each are about three pages. He gives a lot of different things you can write about tho. He doesn't like basic high school writing.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! He doesnt care either you are failing or passing his class. He is the worst at grading essays. He always have a negative comment of every single aspect of your essay.
If you want to have a great time learning do not take his class. He is seriously the worst professor I ever had.
No feedback. He repeats the same useless information. taking him online due to the pandemic is awful. He doesn't care about students passing or failing. When you ask a question, he acts like you're dumb.
Don't take this teacher, he has no mercy and grades the essays like he is grading something from Harvard, I took 2 days to make an essay and put an effort on it and got a D. he is very tough. If you pass at least you will get a C-
I took him for the 6w course and passed because I got taught by a good ENC 1101 professor . He was a horrible professor who failed to teach his students how to write and be prepared for essays. I definitely would not take him as he expects you to learn without being taught. If you want an easy A, or want to learn how to make papers dont take him.
If you actually want to learn something or pass, do not even think about taking his class. He gave us 0 feedback or explanation. All he did was talk about deadlines. When asked for feedback he would not respond to emails and when he did he would be very rude. His grading criteria is not clear at all. Youll be lucky if you get a C or more.
He is very rude honestly like we are doing him a favor by being in his class. He expects us to write like we are in Harvard. Gets triggered easily and gives very broad explanations meant to help us. Very easy pass do not take him he will mess you up. His readings are also very long
This professor has only one opinion: HIS OWN! He will not consider anything besides what he wants and the way he wants it. His feedback only belittles you and makes you feel absolutely stupid. Not helpful in any way in terms of teaching or grading. Learned nothing in terms of academic benefit, just how terrible he was and an absolute rude person.
Worst professor I have ever have. Will insult you to your face and unless you can pull random analysis out of your *** then do not even bother trying. He asks for critical analysis but will only accept the weirdest/randomest analysis possible. I tried so incredibly hard in his class and even after receiving A's he would still find a way to insult.
worst professor I have ever taken, literally does not care about your personally life at all, he grades all of his assignment like if you are in Harvard, he is a sick man who talks over you in class, doesn't give you a chance to explain yourself as to why you didn't do a assignment. save your gpa and DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!
Hes great teacher and makes sure you pass his class. Hes very straightforward and gives you feed back on your work and grade. But he is a tough grader when it comes to essays and everything is too broad. Attendance is super important if you have more than 3 absences hell drop you. Also he expects you to participate every class but its fun.
When I read the reviews for Professor Gonzalez, I was terrified. However, I loved his class! He lacks a filter sometimes, but he is funny and caring. He is always there to help you proofread and offers extra credit. As long as you follow instructions, you will be okay. Dont be scared like I was! If you are a good student, he will see that.
This was an interesting class. Not hard if you actually are trying. Very clear on what he is looking for in essays throughout semester. Somewhat flexible with turn in dates. Not a harsh professor but is straightforward. Do your work and turn in by assigned dates, you will pass.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER !
I had him for 1101 and 1102. The good thing about him is that he cares. You can always meet with him, he gives extra credit and extends deadlines if the class needs it. He is one of the toughest English professors I've had. He's pretty brutal with feedback but I think he's just passionate. Really tough grader. Make sure to participate and read!
he gets stressed for every thing we do because he wants us to do it perfect and some of us don't even have time to do 3 to 4 projects and essays within a week , we all have other classes too !
Extremely tough grader, he doesn't like anyones work
Great professor. Takes the time to explain instructions for you and makes sure you understand. He will go the extra mile to make sure work is done properly and that you get a good grade. I highly recommend him to first time enc takers. He looks out for you and provides you with everything you need to know.
Heard he's not terrible for ENC1101. Lots of short 10 question quizzes regarding weekly readings. He will ask for you camera to be on, and will call on you to participate in discussions. His feedback on papers are horrible, received a 97% once and all his feedback was, was "ok". I also got a 79% on another paper and his feedback was "ok".
He treats this class more like a creative writing class so if you dont like that then it will probably be hard, All of the papers we wrote were humor essays/ stories. He also grades attendance and these quick quizzes best on shorts stories we read.
Professor Gonzalez is a sarcastic and funny teacher. There are 3 essays, 3 writing exercises, and ~10 quizzes. The quizzes are straightforward as long as you read the short stories. The essays/writing activities were fun to write, but he grades them thoroughly, so make sure you write what he asks for. He does allow you to submit a draft beforehand.
His class overall is easy, but I would only recommend taking him if you're looking for a quick A. He's very to-the-t, but doesn't make his class fun or informative whatsoever. You read a story and you do the quiz, over and over again. The quizzes aren't in-depth. He blabbers on about uselessly attempted analyses in very long, frankly weird stories.
He's very particular and likes things done his way but provides confusing feedback so it's difficult to understand exactly what he's looking for. He was always mad in our class and given that it was online it's understandable that it was a bit harder to teach but half the class time was him getting complaining.
Take this as you will, I never write reviews but I was traumatized. I could only last one class (in person) with him before withdrawing. I felt so uncomfortable in his class and he is a very strange man, and not in a good way. In a very bad way. He acts like he's on top of the world. He seems to be great guy, but not in an education setting.
He is a very difficult character, a tough grader and a very demanding professor. Would not take a class or recommend him to anybody.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I had him for a literature class, and he would take weeks to grade an essay. literally on the second day of class he sent an email that was rude to the entire class just because we were confused thanks to a mistake HE made. the class is not interesting AT ALL and you will need to read a lot of boring material.
As someone who gives unbiased reviews, don't take this professor. He has a syllabus that he just does not follow. His attitude towards students who don't speak perfectly (ex: "uh like so") is negative, often dismissing what they say as useless despite having a good point. Instructions unclear with little communication or proper critique.
Four flash fictions (500w) with a final (1.5w). Would not recommend the class. He would often dismiss those who did not speak properly or whom he believed were not worth his time. Communication was not consistent and even the current course assignment was not what was on the original syllabus. As an art kid, would rather take a math class (I am).
Don't let the reviews scare you. The class is easy and he's a good teacher. We used a book called Dreyer's English, had 5 quizzes (he emails what to study and what to focus on), and did 3 essays. Nothing was hard if you actually try. He may be harsh, so if you're sensitive, don't take the class. Otherwise, follow directions and you'll be fine.
This guy was actually hilarious throughout the entire semester. I had him for my spring semester, and the stories we read, some were really interesting, while others were meh. I would recommend taking this class if you enjoy reading and looking for hidden details. He's a funny guy and appreciates when you participate (just don't state the obvious)
A very writing-heavy class rather than a reading one. The English book he has us read is actually useful, and the chapter he'll have you read for quizzes is short. He gives hints for what to look for when reading for a quiz. Just make sure your essays are legible and follow the prompt, and you're sure to pass. A little bit of an odd personality
Do not take this guy at all costs. He's extremely disrespectful and and overall creep. Makes you read these dumb and meaningless short stories every class and just yaps about them. A very harsh grader and then when you ask him how to improve he just insults your work and basically calls you an idiot. Avoid at all costs.
