Was very skeptic at first due to no ratings. I attended his first semester teaching OChem. He is FANTASTIC. His teaching is crystal clear. He gives his own HW (you do NOT turn in) he give a few easy quizes. If you do the homework you can not fail. His exams are just like the HW. He actually keeps your interest while teaching and is very laid back.

Had him for Gen Chem O-chem. Made an A in Gen Chem and a B in lecture and A in lab in O-chem. He is very nice and straightforward with quizzes and exams. Every once in a while he slip something in that makes you ask WTF, but overall if you study you can make an A. He is very available for office hours and extra help.

Excellent. A bit monotone at times but has a funny personality. Clear instruction, and very flexible. Wish I could have him for all my chem classes.

Very fair and merciful professor. I cannot stress enough how patient Arif is with students. The previous semester I had a Chem class with Dr. Cooper, who would try her best to make you feel stupid for asking questions. Dr. Karim also delivers his material like a very subtle stand-up comedian. If you failed this class, your are an @$$h@t.

I'm taking this professor for Chem I. He's AWESOME. He makes sure that everything is crystal clear. He's exceptionally helpful. His tests follow his homework. And his personality is adorable! Seriously, this is the only professor I've taken where not a single classmate talks trash behind his back. Take him!!

Dr. Karim is awesome. He is helpful, lenient in grading, clear, not tricky... He just wants you to understand chemistry. :) Not a heavy course load at all. Not much else to say - he's just super cool and I would recommend him to anyone and take him again myself.

Excellent teacher. He is clear and direct. His grading system is fair and easy to understand. His tests come from the quizzes and homework. Want to do well? Just show up to class. Seriously. I've never cracked the (horrendously expensive) textbook once, because I've never needed to. Highly recommended.

Quizzes are identical to homework, tests are adequately covered by homework and in class notes. Very clear and concise. His test reviews are awesome and more than prepare you for tests. I would definitely recommend him for OCHEM.

Very good teacher. Granted I was in Intro to Chem, but still connected very with the students, answered questions easily, and seemed to be very down to earth. I'd highly recommend taking him.

Prof. Karim is a great teacher- wish all of the teachers at ACC were like him. (The Bio. dept. could use a few like him.) He is clear, gives thorough explanations. Chem II isn't easy, esp. if your math skills are weak, but Karim shows problem solving step by step. Tests follow lectures, no surprises, no tricks: so real learning can take place.

Took Chem1 with Karim. Chemistry can be hard but Karim made it easy and enjoyable. His class is set up so that the material on the quizzes and tests is exactly like the problem sets / test reviews, no curve balls, no suprises. He works through dozens of sample problems. If you go to class and pay attention you should have no problem making an A.

If you have to take chemistry, take him You will not regret it. Labs are easy and have prepared me well for other science classes. He made chemistry easy for me. His lectures are good and you won't really use the book.

TAKE HIM. I normally don't write these but he is such an awesome professor I had to. Test review before every test. No surprises. Quizzes exactly like homework. Homework is not turned in but will go over it in class if you ask him to. Literally can't say anything negative. He's a great professor and a great person in general. Took him for all Chem.

If you have to take Ochem 1 and 2, do yourself a favor and take this guy. All the warnings you get in the two gen chems about Ochem can be forgotten with this proffessor. Learn the material and understand it too!

REALLY good prof and highly recommended. attendance NOT mandatory. his tests are all just 25 questions and really straight forward with given constants and equations. he's out there to teach rather than to get us. pretty easy class overall. book NOT required

Dr. Karim is a great teacher. Chemistry is not an easy subject, but he makes it a lot better. He's very pleasant, apprachable, and reasonable. He's definitely not out to get you. If you put forth a little effort, you will learn the material as he teaches it. I highly recommend taking his classes.

The BEST!!!! Everyone at ACC loves him! He talks to himself at the board which is actually pretty funny to hear, crystal clear explanationsexpectations. I genuinely feel like he makes a point to get across the important stuff and not stress over the minor things about Ochem. Most of us have been taking him since Gen Chem 1301, AWESOME DUDE!

I didn't realize how much I loved chemistry until I took Karim's class. Labs were fun and he has a great dry sense of humor in lecture. Tests are similar to the homework, but a little trickier. Very helpful in office hours. Considering taking Ochem with him even though I don't need it, because he really made me want to learn more!

Face it, you're taking Organic Chem II. You need to decide if you want a guaranteed A or you want to survive. Arif doesn't just give you a pass, he's not that kind of teacher. He'll make you understand this nonsense and help you ace the class. He's one of my fav professors of all time.

He made things really easy to understand, but sometimes simplified too much. 4 quizzes (lowest is dropped), 3 tests, 1 final. An A is from 85-100 points, so he is trying to help you out with the grading system. I hate chemistry, but would take him again. Don't need a textbook.

Undeniably the most easy going and well-organized professors I've had. To be honest, chemistry has never been fun for me, but Professor Karim rocks and helped simplify everything in a way that was easy to understand. Highly recommend.

He's nice. Great teacher, he gives you literally everything you need to succeed. If you may need to miss a lot of classes, I couldn't imagine a more fitting professor for you, he gives study guides with sample questions and answers on blackboard. No tricks. I probably don't need Chem II as I'm undeclared, but I figure why not take it with him.

Dr. Karim is a fantastic Professor and has become one of my all time favorite professors. His lectures are great and he has somehow mastered how to precisely describe a very difficult subject with an impeccable clarity. He promptly replies to emails with any sort of questions you may have. An all around stand up Professor.

He is a fair professor that actually wants you to learn chemistry. Tells you right away what he expects from his students. Provides detailed solutions to problems that will help you to learn the subject.

I've taken him for 4 semesters. I'm a chemistry major, and I wouldn't trade my experience in his class! He is very laid back, but thorough. He had no problem answering questions, even if he just explained something. He doesn't take attendance, but it's definitely in your best interest to go to class every day, especially after general chemistry.

Im genuinely sad I cant take him anymore, after all the semesters of general chem to organic he is the best. Chemistry is not easy, he makes it not so bad. Just take him!

Most clear lecture I have ever taken. He is quiet and sweet but he breaks down all the material if needed. Must raise your hand if you are unclear and he will repeat even better.

Karim is a great professor. He is able to break down difficult concepts so we can understand it. Homework is easy just take notes with the powerpoints (no textbook needed) and you're fine! Only 4 tests, the last one being the final. Loved this guy would definitely take again!

No textbook used, if you miss a lecture you will be behind, 85 and up is an A, FINAL IS HARD, wants you to pass, midterm tests and quizzes are VERY similar to reviews handed out. Overall he was a great professor and would take him again, learned a lot because i didnt have to worry about the tests and quizzes

I honestly learned a lot in this class and I hate chemistry. His three exams are easy if you do the practice problems and hw. Doing the review for each exam is also very helpful. The final wasn't hard, if you only do the final review you'll be fine. If you do all of this you'll make an A bc an 85 or above is an A.

This was a great professor. He prepared you for the test well. There was only a few curve balls on the test. He's very good at getting all his hand outs and lecture slides on blackboard. Not strict for attendance but I recommend you attend as he prepares you well.

Karim is a great professor, he explains the material super well and it is really easy to understand. You pretty much know what is going to be on the exam if you do his exam review. I used to hate chemistry very much, but after taking Karim, chemistry is now a piece of cake for me and it's actually one of my favorite subject now.

He was a great teacher. He takes things from the beginning and is always happy to answer questions even if they have already been asked. Very clear what is expected of you. It's a hard subject but he gives you everything you need to do very well. I would definitely recommend him!

Professor Karim is AMAZING!!!! I thought I would have a hard time with Chemistry but he made it super easy. Do you homework and the practice hwk. There are 4 tests all 25 questions. He gives reviews for each test. You don't have to go to lecture but I would if not you will get behind. Book not necessary. I would definitely take him again.

He is an extraordinary professor! Many may think because of the reviews that he just gives out the answers to the tests but the tests are actually easy because he explains everything with such detail, I recommend 100%! Best professor I've had in my life, and he will always answer questions and never get annoyed! LOVED HIM

This is his gen chem 1 lab review. He's awesome. Took him for a 6 weeks course in the summer. Labs are very easy to understand and work with. You are allowed to miss 1 class with no affect on your grade. Each lab was about an hour and a half, the longest was 2 hours. Cant wait to take him again.

Honestly this was the first class were I've never skipped and thats only because his lectures were amazing. He explains things very clearly and makes chemistry "fun". Don't think that the class is easy overall, theres a lot of memorizing to do but aside from that he makes sure that everything is being understood before moving on and thats awesome.

Greatest chemistry teacher anyone could ask for, period. The class isn't easy but he makes it not so hard. Would take him for every class if he taught them all.

I had Prof Karim for lab & it was my favorite class this semester. He clearly describes the procedure at the start of class followed by a quick run through & demonstration. Always on hand to help with problems. Always grades the experiments quickly & is a fair grader. Laid back. I will be taking him again for chem1312 lecture & lab next semester.

Everything you read about Karim is true. He takes a difficult subject matter like OChem and makes it very doable. Lectures are straight forward with examples. Problem sets are not for a grade however help tons... and I'll just say that the exam reviews are amazing! Karim's lab section is just as challenging but just as doable. Take him.

While the class its self was difficult, professor Karim was always willing to help students understand the material. His lectures are essential and if you miss class more than once, you'll most likely fall behind. VERY difficult to catch up in my experience.

Karim is the best, especially for those who struggle at chemsitry! The lectures are printed as handouts, there is a lot of practice in class and the exams are straight out of the notes! Plenty of partial credit given. I highly suggest taking this course.

Awesome Chemistry Professor! Chemistry II is mainly math, and Professor Karim goes over any types of problems that he expects you to know for each test. Final exam is comprehensive but for each test, an exam review is given and the tests are similar to what is on the exams. Great Professor, available outside of class if you have any questions!

I must say Professor Karim is the best Chem prof at Acc. For real! Doesn't take attendance, Homework problems prepare you for test, and he gives test reviews that he gos over in class. He's approachable and responds to emails. He's super laid back, doesn't try and trick you, teaches the subject crystal clear, and keep things simple. Take him!

Took him for the 6 weeks summer course. His class was really structured and all class materials are uploaded on blackboard. He gives thorough explanations and is always available for help. 3 tests in the testing center and 1 final in class. If you can do his test reviews, you will most likely be able to ace the test. Great and caring professor!

Karim is an absolute joy, he clearly explains the material and there are no tricks. The material isnt easy by nature, theres no getting around that, but he explains in depth and whats on the exam is never something he didn't cover. Cant wait to take ochem 2 with him

Great Teacher for Chem 1 and 2. Both classes can be pretty hard but he does his best to really try and explain it to everyone. Tests are tough but plenty of review for it and hes an easy grader. He curves your overall grade and usually lets homework count even when late. His labs are the easiest you can take.

Professor Karim is a great teacher. He thoroughly explains complicated ideas in simple terms. He goes through the steps - before each lab - to show you what you'll be doing that day. Most of it is group work; and he's fair on the grading. There is 1 paper - 2 pg. & research + a lab per class ( minus last 2 weeks of class).

Goes through the prelab before the lab, and collects the lab the week after you do it in class. Very helpful and insightful explanations of the more complex material + he's always there to help if you need it. If you're showing up to class, doing things in a timely manner, and taking advantage of the help available- you'll most likely get an A.

His hw were super easy but I can't say the same for exams. The first and second exams were pretty easy but the third and the final were hard. I was getting a high A until the final and ended up w/ a high B. He gives you test review before tests but also put 2-3 questions that wasn't on the review which makes the test harder. Labs are piece of cake!

You've been looking for an o-chem professor who won't destroy you. Fair, but still thorough. This is the guy. Entire grade is 4 exams, equal weight, including cumulative final. A+ lectures. Will help ANY TIME outside of class. Practice problems and exam reviews are 90% of actual exam. Very easy labs and reports. 85% is an A, 70% a B. Sign up!!

I took a 5 week session with him online in the summer & it was great. All homework/handouts/exam reviews were available on blackboard from day 1. He prerecorded all of his lectures & exam reviews and posted them so we can watch them on our own time, and he responds quick to emails. 85 and above is considered an A. You literally will not regret him.

I took this course after failing chem at my university and I dont regret it. I was scared coming into this class and was not expecting a good grade, but I was met with something way different! Prof Karim is AMAZING!! Not only did I pass the class, but I got an A. His lectures were extremely helpful and clear and he shows you how to do everything!

In online format, you watch his videos on your own time. He walks you through the worksheet, and has clear due dates. Very straight forward class. I am taking him again for CHEM 1112. He also responds very quickly if you have any questions. Pretty easy grader. Doesn't have an actual class to attend.

My all-time favorite prof. I've taken both gen chem I & II with him including both their labs. Aced all 4 of them because his lectures are so easy to follow and actually learn. Take him, don't doubt. I wish that I could take more classes with him.

TAKE HIM. 4 exams and are basically from his reviews but different questions (1 or 2 same). Hw is off of Chem101 everyday and it was super easy to follow with his PowerPoints. You dont have to watch his lectures. Do the hw and do the review before you take your exam. Open notes and no lockdown! Honestly learned a ton and had fun with everyone:))

I took his online course, he's super chill. all assignments are on chem101 and are pretty straightforward. all lectures are posted day 1 and the schedule is clear. tests do NOT require lockdown browser. definitely take him for chem.

I took Karim for Chem 1 Lab, Chem 2 Lab, and O Chem Lecture and Lab. He is seriously one of the best professors I've had yet. He is very clear in his lectures. He is very fast at responding when you email him, and he is a fairly lenient grader. In OChem Lecture, you only have the tests. That's your whole grade. But, It's open note. Highly recommend

he is by far the best ochem lecture ever. All the exams are open book. you are only graded on 4 exams, which can be rough buy use the exam reviews and problem sets to help you. without his mercy, my gpa would have suffered. take him!

I've ALWAYS struggled with chemistry, after taking his course I'd say I'd highly recommend his class. He gave us prerecorded lectures, lots of homework (which helps you immensely), and very helpful test reviews. If you do all the work required, (there's quite a bit every week), you'll definitely get an A. You only needed an 85% average to get an A.

complete your lab and answer them right to get full credit. you can email him and he can help guide you. I had a 98 the whole semester until the final lab quiz and got a 50 because I wasn't prepared but still received a high A. very simple class as long as you can read and follow labs

Has reviews for all exams which are straightforward and follow the review. Flexible with due dates. Homework matches what we do in class. No textbook needed.

Great professor!! He gives examples throughout his PowerPoint lecture for students to do to ensure we understand. He will always answer any questions and is really easy-going. If you forget about a homework assignment, he is understanding and will most-likely let you try again for full credit!

The best professor I have ever had! I had him since general chemistry II after I transferred to ACC. He gives review every time before tests, and all your grade are based on the 4 tests in the semester. It is not mandatory for the attendance, but if you attend every class and listen to him explain every handouts he gives out, you must get an A!

AMAZING! Take him! Online lectures very clear, exams online (unproctored). Very interesting and you actually learn! Lab very interesting and straightforward. Watch lecture videos, review practice problems and you'll be good for lecture exams. Attend lab and do reports. Amazing professor, taking him again for OChem! Can't say enough good things!

Dr. Arif is the best teacher at ACC.Responds to email fast.Labs are clear and key data is given prior.Exams are identical to reviews and unproctored.Material showed clearly.HW is online and can be hard but solvable with online resources.He should be a benchmark for all STEM Teachers, very caring.But beware,CHEM 1312 is way more arduous than 1311.

This lab was so fun, and Prof Karim is amazing! His grading is always fair, and he responds to emails asap. The course is like 9 labs + lab sheets, 1 homework, and a final at the end. Attendance is mandatory + you can miss one lab and he will send you the notes. After that the missed labs are zeroes. He is so understanding and kind, take his class

Posted lecture videos from previous semesters. Watch the lectures before class. Then go to every lecture. And for redundant redundancy go to the SI sessions for the class.

He made my semester so easy. I enjoyed his class so much!! I took both chem lab and lecture together. The lab part is in person once a week and lecture was online! Not a huge science person but he made it so easy to comprehend. Can't express how much I enjoyed this class! Do yourself a favor and take him!!!!!!!!!! Super understanding!

He is the best professor I've ever had, and i wish i could take him for every class. He is seriously the kindest and most caring person ever, and also very understanding. He teaches in a very understandable way, and I've never once had trouble comprehending anything. I'm not the brightest person, and i still passed this class with almost a 100.
