Great teacher, just do your study guides!!!
Awesome teacher. very helpful and approachable. Definitely do your study guides, and go to his reviews before tests, he goes over everything on the test!

Challenging course, good class, greatly improved my knowledge on the topic.
if you take this course, get in the lab too!!! he loves his lab students. the class is challenging, but very good. bring him a key lime pie and you might get your grade boosted!!:)
Best Biochem teacher! He takes the time to make the material interesting and easy to understand. You must study hard for the exams, but he is a very fair grader.
Very hard class, has a genuine interest in helping. Very easy to ask questions and he will explain it all step by step. Goes over everything in detail
Good professor, Learned alot and he is very helpful on what will be on the exam. Definitely go to his review sessions and do study guides before the tests. It is alot of reading, but its not the lower level class.

Very hard to undertand.Always pretends to be bussy during office hours.
First of all, Biochemistry is not an easy subject by any means. Nevertheless, Dr. Dvir 'leads the horses to the water'; he cannot make them drink too, if you know what I'm sayin. This is a class that you get out what you put in.... Terrific prof.
This guy knows his stuff, he's just hard to understand sometimes. I really like this class and I think it could be a lot worse with someone else. Also he gives lots of helpful handouts! I had to get a whole new folder for them!

He knows his stuff - but it is OBVIOUS that his favorites are the ones that are regestered for his lab, too!
Dvir is great! He leads a challenging and interesting class. Expects a lot and gives a lot. I am not sure what this female preference stuff is all about. I see no gender bias. Oh yeah, he is funny too.
Difficult material, excellent professor, lets you know exactly what you need to study- holds sessions before tests on sundays! I couldnt make it but thanks. Its rare for a college prof to extend themselves (but it shouldnt be)
Dvir is a great professor, regardless of what other people here say.Besides his accent, explinations of the material is very clear and understandable. his powerpoint lectures are well written and explain the important parts of the material. he holds sunday study sessions before exams for us.
Dvir is an AWESOME teacher! He holds Sunday review sessions and offers to stay after class for questions. The tests are based mostly off the Power Point presentation, and the study guides are VERY helpful. It does seem like he favors females and his lab students. He has a GREAT sense of humor!
Dr. Dvir won't 'give an grades away', but he wiil be fair and very helpful -- if approached. Biochem. isn't easy, in fact it can be complicated and frustrating, but learning new knowledge is frequently difficult. I highly recommend him if you want to take this subject, but be prepared to work...
Dr. Dvir has a geniune interest in his students succeeding. The course material is challenging but Dvir is always willing to spend extra time with students who need extra help. Dr. Dvir is exremely knowledgable in Biochem and knows how to explain things without leaving you confused. Between his uniq
Dr. Dvir’s presentation of the course material in a clear and concise manner, willingness to provide additional instruction and review, and desire for his students’ success make this course enjoyable. The course is also challenging and be prepared to work. This professor has my strong recommendation
Horrible horrible teacher.DONT take this guy.
Dr. Dvir is a wonderful profressor and very nice to work with. He is throughly knowledgeable with his subject matter and is more than willing to help any student willing to learn the material. You couldn't ask for a nicer guy.
TAKE HIM!Dr. Dvir is an extraordinary teacher. He goes above and beyond to help his students.Hicturesareinteresting, organized, clear and nicely presented. Don't waste the chance of learning so much from him!You will absolutely enjoy his class.HE IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!
Dr. Dvir is a great professor!! He makes learning fun and exciting.
Dr. Dvir is the best professor Oakland University has.TAKE HIS CLASS..!!!His lectures are very interesting, clear, the best I have ever had( I graduate soon). He is extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to see his students succeed. You can learn a lot from him. REGISTER IN HIS CLASS NOW!
Quite simply the WORST Professor at Oakland University
Dr. Dvir is one of the best profs I've had at OU. I really liked the class, if you are a biology major take his class and learn from the master.

Biochemistry is not for lazy students - if you don't do the work, no prof can save your butt! I've attended 3 universities & this is the 1st prof who gave review sessions on his own time. He's extremely knowledgable and cares about his students' success. My advice: take this class!
No other professor at Oakland compares to Dr. Dvir! He is always avilable and willing to help with problems. His tests are straightforward and he really wants students to learn. His lectures are the most organized powerpoints I have ever seen and he has a great sense of humor. Highly recommended!
Dr Dvir is the best teacher I have ever had!! Although Biochemistry is not easy, he makes it very interesting and makes us want to learn more about the subject. Very intelligent, fascinating, funny, helpful... Don't hesitate, take his class!
He might seem to be unapproachable, however once you'll talk to him he is very helpfull and down to earth. I have him for a biochem class and some of the material is competative, however his explanations are very easy to understand. Sometimes before test organizes extra reviw period(very helpfull).
He is horrible. Gives special favors to the students who suck up to him.

He is not that bad. I find him rather boring with wierd accent
Did'nt learn much at all in his class. Too much of material crammed up in a small time.
Don't get scared off.Yes,there is ALOT of material covered, but he gives you many opportunities to raise your grade, including reviewing with the class on his own time-which is unheard of. He is very approachable and his enthusiasm for the subject is contagious-he'sthe funniest and nicest prof I've ever had.Straight forward tests.Accent no problem
Great proffessor. Makes every aspect of the subject crystal clear. His accent is fine, easily understandable. Take this guy for a good learning experience.
This is biochem lab. It's not hard but he was impossible because he became frustrated in the middle of first month because he's also dept of biology chairman. Otherwiswe nice and helpful.
Am I on crazy pills? This guy has got to be the worst professor I've ever had. I seriously can't believe how many people are raving about him. You can't understand a word that comes out of his mouth, and he refuses to answer certain questions if he thinks you're capable of finding them out on your own. Completely horrible experience.
Lab and lecture were difficult but it's not a simple subject. Lab itself is six hours long but a great experience. The lecture notes are key to success in the class along with paying attention. He's not difficult to understand and he definitely knows what he is talking about. Highly recommend him over any other professor for biochemistry.
His lectures are very organized and he gives you printouts of the powerpoint slides. He gives you study guides and a practice test to help you do good on the tests. He even spends time going over them and helping his students. Very helpful and funny teacher. I recommend him.
He is not friendly/helpful. He teaches directly from the powerpoints...book does not follow the course, and is filled with too many details. He made the subject material much harder than it should have been. Overall, came out of class without a broad understanding of the concept--only details. A straight memorization course. (I am one of six 4.0's)

horrible accent, tons of material, wont answer your questions-"come to my office", loves a brownoser, book is useless and most test material is not even covered-maybe for a millisecond....dont take him, save you GPA

Hard to understand, and basically rude, I have a good GPA, and I got a bad grade in this class. I would make office appts with him, and then when I got there, he would just tell me that he didn't have time for me today, and I would need to reschedule. To be fair, I think he may be nice, but just have WAY to much to do with being head of the dept.
He is a great professor. His tests are very fair. For those complaining about him, it's most likely a result of them not wanting to put forth an effort in the class. He expects you to study and if you ask him questions that make it obvious that you haven't done your part, he'll put it back on you to read first and then come back with questions.
This class was great. Everything that was expected was made clear. The tests were very fair, there were no surprises. Everything was explained well and he slowed down a little if the class was having trouble. He was always available before and after class for questions but it was expected that you studied the material first. Very interesting course
He is an OK Professor. The low grading is for his pompousness and arrogance. He is always stressed out being a Dept head. I have had Dr. Severson (Chem Head) and he is too cooler than him.
This class was excellent and he was a great instructor. Yes, the accent is difficult, but those in the class are there because they want to become doctors or scientists - duh, guess how many foreigners you'll deal with then? Suck it up, do the work, and fill out an amusing student evaluation at the end of the class - he saves them to show:-)
Awsome professor!Class was great. Sudied the material he gives, you will do well. Everything is very clear and straight forward. Theres no guessing what you need to study with this prof. He stays late in the office and always after class willing to help or answer any questions. Take this class, you wont regret it!
If you want to get on his good side talk about goulash and the a.a. serine....there is to favorite things : )
If you have to take Biochem, you could do a lot worse than Dvir. He's funny and knows his stuff pretty well, and exams are easy if you study. Even if you don't study a whole lot and don't know a lot about chemistry, you'll still pass his class.
Wow, I can't believe all the positive comments. This professor is really rude and does not have extra time to explain anything to students after class. Power points were very unorganized and hard to follow. I wish I knew what a bad professor he was before I took him. Don't believe all the positive reviews.
I hated this class. He is an arrogant excuse for a Professor :(
Very intelligent prof. One of the best at OU.
Horrible, AVOID PROFESSOR! He is very unorganized and is always late. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He teaches strictly from powerpoint only! Will not meet with you outside of class. He is a waste of your own time and money.
Dr. Dvir was extremely helpful if you had any questions. He had a great sense of humor. The material was relevent to a graduate biochem class and was not overly difficult. The lectures were clear and as long as you are not lazy you'll do fine in the class.
Dr. Dvir is a great professor. If you are taking him, chances are you have more than a bachelor's in mind, so you better get used to the work. There is a lot of material to cover, but read the book, and study the powerpoints (that he prints FOR YOU) and you'll be fine. He can be unclear at times, but overall, you learn a TON!
great professor..straight from his powerpoint..alot of the practice quiz questions are on the test. take him!
it is a fantastic class, it is refreshing to have such a great teacher for a change. I really became interested in this subject in the class. There are only 5 exams and that is the grade so make sure you study and you will do wonderful!
Not hard, a lot got above 100% on tests; however, in the end of semester, his scoring system needs a 98% total to get a 4.0; he seems to be nice in class but when u ask him for a favor he is harsh and rude u may say. Exams comes from Power Point, class notes, and practice questions.
Really nice guy-lectures aren't boring. A LOT of info though-I made the mistake of not attending class and trying to cram. Cramming will not work in this class-way too much info to study. Exams are straightforward-he gives study guides for all his slides, posts his slides on moodle and gives a practice exam. If you put the time in you'll do well.
Dvir is a very good professor. he teaches from powerpoints which he makes available to the students (the book us generally for reference only though it is very helpful clarifying things). He also gives out study guides and practice tests, so If you do these you should get a good grade in the class. He grades very fairly.
Dvir may be a hard prof, but if you want to make it in Bio then he's the man to take! Dvir knows his exams are difficult, but he does his best to prepare his students for success. Dvir's short answer portion of his tests are a nightmare, but the multiple choice helps to balance it out. Enjoy learning the 20 amino acids and their special properties!
I had him during the summer he taught the first half of Bio 11.. he has a thick accent but is prtty easy to understand he knows his stuff but went a little more advanced then everyones level of knowledge
I dont understand why so many people think he is a great professor. He expects us to know every single little thing there is to know about Biochem... A teacher is supposed to help out the students. I emailed him many times hoping he would help answer my questions, he never responded. He is arrogant and doesnt care if you fail. Worst experience ever
He makes his class fair and he really know his material. If you study you will get a good grade. I really learned a lot in the class and would take him again.
Dr. Dvir runs his class very fairly. Show a good honest effort, show up to class and ask questions when you don?t understand something. It will be very hard to not do well in his class if you do those things. The exams are everything he goes over in class, no surprises. He?s very good with email and will make time to talk with you in his office.
Dr. Dvir is probably one of the best professors I have ever had. He expects much of his students, but made the learning experience much more enjoyable by requiring student presentations of the material (which he grades very leniently). If your a BIO major his course is definitely the way to go, all bio classes become alot easier after doing so!
Dr. Dvir taught the first half of BIO 111 Summer 2 2010. Was a bit difficult to hear/understand at first, but got used to it quickly. Recommend sitting near the front of the class. Really knows his stuff. He was very helpful in reviewing the test afterwards in his office when I had questions/wanted to see his score. Lots to learn, but doable.
His teaching style-students were expected to know the material before it was "thaught" and had to do presentation of the material for the class. He was not clear about the material you had to know.He had favorite students in the class, arrogant, not responding to e-mails ontime, always busy when you try to reach him in the office.
This class was awesome as in i worked my butt off and got a 4.0 but Dr. Dvir made you earn it. I did 2 presentations on a whole chapter, did a ton of outside reading, Biology made more sense and you will get the whole picture. glad they make this mandatory.took my MCAT about 2 months later, about 4 passages were topics we covered, i got a 11 in BIO
His lectures consisted of him reading off a power point.
Loved him! The material is fair, it's a 400-level class, people! Learn your stuff, "understand" it, and you will do fine! I like his teaching style, as long as you're prepared, you can have a good conversation in class, and he pushes you to "understand" it and inquire more on the material. GREAT class, loved it and him! <3
I took Bio 325 online with diver. Half of your grade is your homework and quiz grades. The multiple choice question on tests are a lot like the quizes but the "large problems" are a little challenging over all it was not a hard class but I wish a had a lecture because at times I was lost on my own and the book is not easy to read. AND HE IS RUDE!
Online Biochem class needs better instruction. His instructions aren't very clear and his accent doesn't help. Getting an A is doable, but your on your own for the entire semester. Many people dropped....
He is HORRIBLE! He shows up late to class and hardly teaches-the class is entirely self study. There's way to much to know for each test and he offers no outside help. He expects you to remember everything you've ever learned in your classes and puts people on the spot. His tests are super hard. He is lazy and rude and doesn't care about students.
He expects a lot out of you, but in the end you will be thankful. You learn a wide rage of topics in his class. All you have to do is to keep up with the course pace. Before exams, make sure you know all the pathways. There are plenty of extra credits in exams. Highly recommend group study.
I took his class online and its the best online class I took. He was very helpful and very understanding. He does not expect perfection from students, but expects us to try and to prove that we know the basics of the teachings. Study the powerpoints and hand outs but read the book passages! he does not test on anything that is not covered
Does not respond to e-mails. Seems like he doesn't care about his students. Showed up late on exam days. Need I say more?
The professor is very fair about grading, and will have some extra points for every test. This doesn't mean he is easy. Make sure you learn what is in his "weekly instrucion," if you want an A. He will be clear on what to expect, and what to be seen on the test. Earn a 4.0, mostly because I worked my ass off. He's one of the best BIO prof at OU.
He basically reads the slides in class and the only reason you go to class is to pick up the charts he makes himself and puts on the test! Do the quizzes its extra credit that you will need because his tests are really hard! The only way you learn anything in this class is if you read the book! He expects you to know everything from Biochem 1
I really enjoyed both of Dr. Dvir's BIO 325 and BIO 425 classes. He is a great professor. Dr. Dvir makes his own notes, ppt slides and charts so you know exactly what is expected of you. There was a lot of material, and I definitely learned a lot in his classes. If he taught other classes I would def. take him again!
Dr. Dvir is an excellent professor. He truly understand Biochm, and desires for you to learn. But if you want an easy class, this is not for you. I received a 4.0 because I worked hard. If you have any diligence in your studies, or want a great foundation in Biochm you will do fine.
His online biochem class was great! Anytime I had a question, he answered it promptly and clearly on Moodle. His method of weekly quizzes prepared me well for the exams. All the material was there and he reviewed every test with me answering any questions I had. I highly recommend this class and especially this prof!
Dr. Dvir was extremely helpful! He'd always find time to help me outside of class. As a visual learner, I loved this class because of the many pathways he required us to know. Furthermore, it was great as a pre-med student because of the amount of clinical correlations we learned during the last half of the class. Awesome teacher, awesome class!!
Dr. Dvir conducted his class with professionalism and respect. If there were any concerns with the class material, he would take the time to explain any confusion. Additionally, his exams were always fair: handouts, referenced textbook material, and powerpoints. I learned so much from his course!! I'd recommend this class to any science major.
It was a easy class but read the power points he has and the online quiz and the test will be fine. His lecture sometimes gets boring so you'll need caffeine. Hardly used the book dont buy it unless u like reading. But Dvir is pretty cool layed back and will get to the point. I took this in summer and glad i did,the lab is great take it trust me.
Dr. Dvir prepared an excellent online course for biochem I. He focused on teaching the logic behind its mechanisms. His exams were challenging, but he was fair in his grading. Dr. Dvir was very personable and he handled himself in a professional manner. He made genuine effort to be clear and concise in his instructions and responses to students.
Dr. Dvir as department chair is working to develop an excellent & diverse biology program. He is enthusiastic about teaching & biochemistry. Bio 425 covered an extensive amount of material. The depth provided in written handouts was impressive. Dr. Dvir was very personable. He was helpful when assistance was needed & delivered on his commitments.
I've never had a teacher who was so knowledgeable in subject care so little about the course and students. Students create the 3rd and 4th test for him. The rest he just uses other professors' powerpoints (literally has their names on there).
There is a lot of work and material covered in this course, but Dvir takes his time to help you the best he possibly can. He makes flow charts for you to fill out, and gives you weekly quizzes and uses those questions for the exam. The clinical correlation paper is easy if you research your topic well. Its a 400 level course people do the work!
Great professor. First of all, it's BIOCHEM, so there's a TON of info you have to know. Study, as you have to do in any other bio class, and you'll be good. The multiple choice questions come directly from the weekly quizzes. The "large questions" are somewhat challenging. Not hard to get 4.0 by any means. TAKE HIM!!!! Highly recommend!!!
I took this class online, and I was really impressed with how well-structured it was. Dr. Dvir is clear in what he expects you to know, and he provides you with all of the study materials you will need to succeed in the class. He is also helpful in explaining difficult concepts and is quick to answer any questions you may have about the material.
I highly recommend Dr. Dvir! He is very knowledgable in teaching Biochem in a very clear, concise manner. He is always available after class time to answer questions or briefly help students that were having trouble. He has taught and prepared me well for grad school. I am very appreciative of taking his course.
Dr. Dvir was very passionate about the subject and very helpful. Everything he teaches is straight out of the book and his lectures really do help. He specifically tells you what he wants you to have memorized for exams. Also gives hand drawn flow charts and diagrams along with online quizzes, so you know EXACTLY what's expected of you on test day.
I don't know if he is better at teaching Biochem as opposed to basic Biology but he is NOT as great as everyone says from my own experience. He's very vague and doesn't make sure you grasp concepts before moving on. His exams are totally different from what he covered in class. Thank goodness I have a great prof the 2nd half of the semester!
I would take his online class. I hated doing the forum questions every week but it's doable. He has a quiz every week which is moderately difficult but then his exams use almost all the quiz questions. If you do all the quizzes and the extra practice documents, you would get a really good grade in his class. Wasn't bad at all.
This was not an easy course. You have to learn much more than what should be covered, however I did enjoy the material. I recommend taking it online if you can. All exam questions were from quizzes and power points. I didn't do as well as I could have because I didn't put enough time into it. It's not an easy A, but if you study you'll do fine.
Straight forward class. Study hard and get good grades.
**Seriously, I don't know why people are looking for an "easy A" at the 300 level and above courses, especially at OU. Come on people get your heads on tight, just study hard for everything, expect nothing easy. If you spend nine hours extra a week per class, you'll obtain your 3.5 and above.
no curve at all, drops no exams, 4.0 is 100%, brags about giving 10 pts extra credit on the essay questions for his extremely hard exams, wants his students to fail and makes them feel like crap. take someone else.
BIO 325 class was interesting. There was a lot of material, but like every class, your grade is determined by how hard you work. Dr. Dvir is helpful, nice, encouraging, and explains what you need to know for each exam. I would recommend taking BIO 325 with Dr. Dvir. I learned a lot and it was my most enjoyable class I have taken at OU.
BIO 325 online was a pretty intense course- TONS of info and slides never end. Tricky quizzes with mistakes in the answers sometimes so look out for that. Dr.Dvir prepared a self prep kind of course in which he is pretty much nonexistent and won't reply to emails. Don't slack, study and review quizzes, and review all mechanisms and extra sheets.
This class isn't the easiest, but is definitely rewarding. I have learned so much in this class, and Dr. Dvir is a great professor. He really cares about the success of his students and is very helpful. Dr. Dvir is really funny and class is not boring. This course will teach a lot, so put in the time, and you will do great.
Personally,I thought Dvir was a good professor. He was always available in his office and willing to help. The only thing I didn't care for was his grading scale. Overall, I got a 90% in class and only received a 3.4 That being said you have to study hard for every test since there is no dropped test.
Dr. Dvir is a good professor. The class was not as scary as I thought it would be , but it did require hard work and studying. If you study the slides & homework he posts on moodle, you will do great! if you have questions, he is willing to help/answer them. Study groups are always helpful too!! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the class.
Definitely good prep course for med school. Hard class in general and his high expectations make it even harder. Come to class to pick up mechanism charts which will be on tests. Do weekly online quizzes. Last two tests based on student presentations. He expects a lot from presentations. He is intimidating at first but is actually nice. Good luck!
Overall good professor. Attendance is mandatory only bc he gives flowcharts & lecture summaries that are essential when studying for exam. Textbook sometimes useful. Weekly online quizzes help in staying on tract & studying the material in a timely manner. He will prepare you for all exams. Study & thoroughly know all flowcharts and quizzes.
It was an online class so I knew what I was getting into as ive taken many online courses before. The quizzes aren't hard, the forums are terrible, the grad students that grade them display your forum grade for everyone to see which I don't even think is legal. The exams are gross. You either get a 50% or a 0 on each exam. No scraping by allowed.
Barely pass and studies all the time
Don't take it online if you have no ability to teach yourself. He is rude and impatient when you email him with questions and the forum posts are a joke. Everyone would google the answers and pull them off straight from wikipedia. I would study like 20 hours out of the week and still didnt help.
This class being offered online is a joke. If you need to learn biochem and are not just there for the grade, do not take online. His PowerPoints are forever long and not sufficient for learning the material. The quizzes and exams are tough.
I loved this class online. Yes, the powerpoints are long, but they should be long because biochemistry is a very detailed subject. Dvir was clear on what we should expect for exams, he posts study guides in each subject, which ended up being the exact short answers on exams. If you are self motivated enough, I really recommend taking this class!
This is a great class to take online if you are motivated to learn the material. His powerpoints are very long but they are very helpful and should be used as guides for what is on the test. You should also complete the study guides he posts online because those are used as written responses. This class is a lot of work but you can still get an A.
He does not record lectures for you so you have to read his ppts on your own time. Quiz questions are hard but they show up on the test so you must study them. Study guides are the exact written responses on exam. Unlike all the other responses, forum questions help a lot and were a great way to narrow down what to study! Take the class!
TA Gau taught the lab course and she was incredibly helpful considering this is biochemistry we're talking about. Class is basically about enzyme activity. Grades are based off quizzes and 2 big reports. Labs can sometimes take up the entire class so don't expect to leave early often.
Amazing professor! Definitely a hard class and a lot of reading but the professor is always there to help and answer questions. I would take this professor again in a heartbeat! The material is hard and you have to work hard for your grade but it's definitely doable especially if you ask for help early on.
Very generous and kind professor. I would definitely take him again for other biochem classes. His class is very straightforward; all you have to do is study for the exams and do very well on the quizzes to get a 90% or higher.
This is biochemsitry online it is hard, but do your work, do all his extra credit, and all his assignments, and you should do fine in his course, and on the exam make sure you study they are difficult.
Dr. Dvir provides extensive PPTs detailing course content. He is available during office hours to answer questions and responds thoroughly to forum posts. Though a TON of material is covered, the tests are straightforward. If you are willing to put in the time take BIO3232 with Dr. Dvir. It's a lot of homework/quizzes but expectations are clear.
Dr. Dvir is extremely capable of demonstrating lab techniques. He has a remarkably thorough knowledge of the theory behind techniques, and he relays this knowledge in a clear, concise manner. He carries himself in a professional, cordial fashion and is helpful with questions. It was a joy to learn from him. I strongly recommend taking his course.

Before I took this class, I was so much worried! Now, I can say that I made the best decision by taking biochemistry l with Dr. Dvir!! It's not an easy class, but at the same time, it's very doable! In all of my exams I got over 100% by studying his lectures only. understand the material and ask questions If you're stuck. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
Dr. Dvir is a great professor. His explanations are clear and about as concise as Biochemistry can be. The textbook is required, but Dvir narrows down the required reading to the bare minimum for learning the material. The tests are fair, extra credit assignments are available, and Dvir is very approachable. I would take him again in the future.
I took Dr. Dvir's Biochemistry course during the Winter 2018 semester and I found his class to be great! He has powerpoints that go in depth with the topics he teaches. You will have to put in a good amount of work outside of class in order to get an A, but he is usually available during his office hours to help out too. I would recommend his class
