Great guy overall. Super funny, not sure if "hot" is the proper word but his personality lit up my day every time I saw him. He made me WANT to come to class and made every minute in class worth the effort. I learned a lot in this class and enjoyed every lecture.

I decided to take the 2 more classes in the classroom instead of online because Professor Melidonis is teaching. I wouldnt miss it for the world. I took a previous class with him and i have to say he's great, and makes the class fun! he's really supportive, and he really likes to help his students. I think he's too nice when it comes to the test.

Someone please give this guy a raise! I don't think they pay him enough. Super insightful, everyday in class he makes you think about the world around you. I'm not an anthropology major but he makes it so relative in everyday life.

I was not in his class out of desire to learn about other cultures,I took it cause I had too.He is ok.He has allot of work.He also give out a 12 page ethnographic paper worth 25 percent of your grade.If you like busy work he is fine.If you love writing take him.If you have allot of other serious classes,He will find a way to eat up all of your time

He is one of the best professors i have ever had the pleasure of encountering! He is brilliant, funny, and really takes the time to engage with the class. So long as you show up and read the material you will pass, and have fun. I would DEFINITELY recommend taking any class taught by him.

Really cool teacher, very helpful took his online class responded to emails within a day. Class was super easy just read textbook and instructors guidance and you will do fine. You do have to write a minimum 5 page paper but it's double spaced and you have like 3 months or more to complete it. Would love to take more of his classes!

The class online is rigorous but it is worth it. He is flexible with the final paper(worth 25 percent)which is a crazy amount of your grade. Please know that he actually likes his job. That being said he loves his students so he doesn't punish you for him having to work. If this is your major. This is the guy you need 4 guidance, brilliant teacher!

If you take the magic,witchcraft& religion or the cultural antho you'll have to write a few papers that are worth the majority of your grade. Whats awesome about the papers is you get to pick the topic!

I am taking this class right now, and I honestly had 0 interest before this class started, but since it has started I've come to like it alot. This professor is AWESOME. Responds immediately to the tons of emails I've sent him, very punctual. Quizzes are easy if you read and comprehend. Essay was fun to write and he helps you with no problem at all

Amazing professor, I took his course online so communication with the professor is fairly rare and difficult however he is very attentive and helpful. Must read every section of the book and write discussions thoroughly, tests are easy and allow 2 chances. If you put in the work you will get an A. Looking forward to another course with him.

Class was taken during summer. Required to read 60+ pages a week. Offers 2 attempts at weekly quiz. Provides a written lecture to follow during the week's topic. Responds to emails within 24 hours. Very encouraging of every students level of comprehension on the material. Never condescends in his response to a student's topic contribution.

Amazing Teacher really knows what he is talking about. Very passionate about the subject. I will probably take another class or two of his just for fun. I took this class because I needed it for a degree, but he really enjoyed teaching this subject which made me more interested in it. He is not the average hum drum teacher. Great class.

I took this class with no expectations. I absolutely LOVED this class and Prof Melidonis. He is the best teacher for Anthropology. I learned more then I ever thought I would in his class. One 5 page paper through the semester and discussions are mandatory to pass the class. Learned a lot and got a good grade, highly encourage to take his classes.

Such a nice guy, so energetic and teaches very well. Favorite class so far, also because there was a cute guy who sat next to me.

Took during a 5 week course in summer. Glad I did, it was easy. Weekly discussion post with 2 replies on others required along with weekly quiz on chapter readings. Your final is a minimum 5 page essay on a culture you belong to. I wrote it in a day. He's good with feedback and with returning emails. I would definitely take a class with him again.

What he mentioned on the lectures was useful for the discussion post due every Wed. You do have an essay that is due a week or 2 before the semester is over which he mentions often during semester. Do a discussion ea week & reply to 2 people, take couple of quizzes, and 1 essay Taken 3 courses with him in which I received A's.

Prof. Melidonis' lectures are seriously the most entertaining lectures I have ever experienced! He breaks everything down in a way any of your fellow peers would talk to each other. After class and through email he is there for you. If you need credit in ANTH do your self a favor and take his class!

I took His online class for Anthro. It was very easy and chill. post every week and response to two students. he gives you quizzes on the reading which is interesting, the quizzes aren't tuff. and you must write 5 pg research paper. He is very open minded chill teacher.

I took the hybrid 9 week course, which we met once a week for an hour and fifteen minutes. The lectures were interesting, Melidonis gots a good sense of humor, and is upbeat. If you email him, he is prompt and emails back usually the same day. He offers help for the essay and is there if you need his help and feedback.

Dr. Melidonis is a once in a lifetime professor. I am thankful for taking his class because I got so much out of it. He is very inspirational in the emotion and passion he presents in the subject he teaches. If you put forth the effort and go to class you will get so much out of the class. He actually makes lectures and learning fun which is rare.

Not crazy hard. Makes us do actual work that helps us learn but not too much work. Discussions, quizzes, and paper be on top of that and you should be good to go. I actually learned instead of memorizing information for a test. He is awesome!

Professor Melidonis is an awesome instructor, he gives a fascinating lecture. The course I took was hybrid, so we still met in class, but took quizzes, discussion, and essay online. The subject was Magic, Religion, and Witchcraft, it was good break from a normal course. Oxnard College is very lucky to have an awesome instructor.

this is by far my favorite professor I've ever taken. textbook is a must and the quizzes are all online, plus one research paper. as long as you read the book, do good on the quizzes and do your paper you should pass with a good grade. he wants his students to succeed and is very caring. lectures are very fascinating so show up to class.

The funniest, most inspirational professor I've ever met! You don't even need to show up since the class is so easy, but you'll want to because he keeps the class engaged and is so passionate. This guy turns the boring subject of Anthropology into something so relatable and SUPER interesting, which is a great motivation to do your research paper I think. His lectures are really passionate and you can tell he loves his subject and teaching it. The only homework he assigned was reading but the quizzes had questions on reading and lecture.

I have take Professor Melidonis for several anthropology courses online. He is a great professor. His lecture notes are very detailed and his assignments are easy to complete. We have to complete one discussion a week and respond to two classmates and have quizzes every other week. He does require one research paper but it is not difficult at all.

This is the BEST professor at OC. His classes are always wait listed as he is so popular. I took his class and want to take more because he really gets you thinking. Tests are open book on-line. You won't want to miss his lectures.

Mr Melidonis is amazing! He is passionate about the subject! An hour and 15 minutes goes by real quick! Seriously one of the best professors at Ventura county college system. Only thing was the textbook, one whole long chapter on North America, two whole loong chapters on South America yet only 1 chapter for Asia and Africa combined. Unbelievable.

Professor Melidonis is a great teacher. I have taking two anth classes with him. Test are really easy but discussions can be difficult. I took online hybrid course and it is not easy lots of reading and discussions every Wednesday, quizzes every Sunday. No Finals but 5 page culture paper. a little tough when grading discussions and paper. work4it

I expected to get an A i go 100% on my quizzes and I thought my discussion where great however, I don' t think he agreed with my discussions and I got a B. I took an online course,it was very interesting, his lectures make you feel like your going to an upper higher fancy class. He knows his subject very well and leaves the class with a wow, you wont regret taking the class , your mind will be deep in concentration and it will change the way of viewing the world of anthropology, read its interesting.

Everyrhing you read about this professor is true. I took a 9 week hybrid course. We only met once a week. I wished i would of taken his full 18 week course. His lectures are great hws very entertaining. The discussions were fairly easy to write about. Do all your work and you should get a good grade.

I took the full 18 week course with him, let me tell you he is amazing. So good on keeping you focus in class with jokes and his sarcasm & just in general being so positive & motivational. His work is very interesting, homework is easy if you pay attention in his lectures & take good notes you will pass! + he has it all in canvas, you'll love him!

It was a pretty easy class, I did his 4 week Sex, Gender and Culture summer course, but I definitely wasted my money renting the textbook. You can get by just fine with his weekly lectures.

Taking his summer class now. He has you do 5 modules 2 discussion per module not bad and quiz for every module. Quizzes are from the text book and you only do ONE project! its only a 5 page essay. Fun class and learned a lot and didn't stress me out! I would take again!!!! Thank you!!

great instructor! took his course online at first I was stressed out and overwhelmed but it was cake. During the summer we had to write 2 discussions with an anthro. perspective. So your using power point notes and the book to relate your discussions. We also had 2 quizzes a week you can get answers from power points! and 1 essay 5 pages .

Probably one of the most influential professors' you'll ever take at OC. His lectures are the best! A lot of reading, a lot of writing, but he will work with you, if you're struggling with course concepts. Highly recommend!

Meladonis is the Quentin Tarantino of Anthropology. His lectures make Biological Anthropology interesting and he gets you to think about our relationship and history to primates. I'm a pro capitalist business major so I don't agree with some of his tangential arguments for socialism but he did make some convincing points about genetic engineering.

By far the best professor Ive had at OC, he has amazing lectures, no homework besides reading the required textbook, and clear organized schedule. Took his hybrid 6-week course. He is straightforward & focused in each class session. Melidonis is chill, i get why he's praised by many. His grading criteria is for the most part pretty clear, but I had a friend who would never fully complete the discussions and submitted a lot of them late, but they still got away with it so that was weird

I am entering my third class with him as my professor. I have to say I LOVE taking his class! He is very clear on what is being discussed and learned. My first class was a hybrid class, so I saw him once a week. He is great at lecturing VERY PASSIONATE! I would rather actually go to his class than just take it online.

Best teacher at OC, he is very passionate and cares for his students. Attendance matters, if you miss too many classes and or you don't complete assignments then he will drop you. His lectures are very interesting and engaging, and you leave his class knowing that you actually learned the material unlike other classes.

Quizzes are short and easy if you read the text and follow along with his lectures on Canvas. Watch out for that research paper.

Dr. Melidonis is now one of my new favorite professors. As long as you do your assignments as he instructs you to do, include your in-text citations, study for your quizzes by listening to lectures, use your textbook and the PowerPoint, then you will pass.

Dr. Melidonis was a fantastic teacher. You can tell he's really invested in the material he teaches. The class requires a lot of reading, but the quizzes are open book. Your grade comes from discussion posts/responses, quizzes, and a paper. Really manageable workload. Follow directions, put forth effort in your writing, and be insightful for an A.

Professor Melidonis is one of the best professors Ive had in my educational career. His lectures are very straight forward, engaging, and informative. Took his online course and it went by like a breeze. I won't lie, I did have to try and give a more effort than my other simpler Anthro class to get decent A's on my discussion but overall very doable. Quizzes can be taken twice, I got perfect scores on ALL of them. There is a Research paper but given a lot of time. Answer prompts as thorough!

Professor Melidonis is my absolute favorite professor I've had, his class is very do-able, I wouldn't call it an easy A because you do have to listen to his lectures and do the reading if you want to pass the quizzes. So glad that he teaches at community college. His class will inspire you.

If you do not take any of his class yet, you really should at least take his class that will change your understanding of how life, society, things work in real life. Prof. Melidonis was an awesome Professor. He has everything organized and is very understandable when it comes to problems you may have. During COVID time he is very flexible and is very lenient when it comes to grading. We took 5 quizzes for his class and a 5 page paper. Overall great class and great professor, I would recommend taking him.

This was an eight-week course so there were a lot of discussion boards, but they were pretty straightforward. There's one major essay to complete, but Melidonis gives you plenty of time to finish it. He's available to help always, and there's weekly quizzes. Read the lectures and look at the textbook. They help!

Professor Melidonis is an amazing instructor! I took his Intro to Forensic science class! He is hilarious which breaks up the seriousness of this class. He really cares about his students success. The quizzes are pretty easy if you're reading your book. Fair grader as well. He takes awhile to put in grades but other than that, he's awesome!

I took Intro to Forensic science class in 2020 online. It was a very interesting class. I always looked forward to the lectures & the reading. I loved how the discussions were kind of like puzzles. The only bad part was we couldn't do a lot of the stuff we normally would in person like fingerprinting, blood spatters & etc. I would 100% recommend.

I took Prof. Melidonis magic, witchcraft and religion 9 week course this semester and it was not difficult at all. I am a bit bummed because we didnt talk about much witchcraft, it was all mostly religion. We had 5 quizzes all 20-30 questions long, fairly easy if you read his instructor guidance. We had 1 paper about 5 pages, overall great class.

He has a clear grading criteria, clear syllabus, very interesting information in his intro to Forensic Science class. I love it, I would def recommend him!

Professor Melidonis is a top-tier professor and I recommend anyone to take him if they get the chance. His lectures are incredibly interesting, and I still share with people, to this day, about parts of the class I learned. Some of his lectures had me laughing out loud. He grades fairly. Do not miss this opportunity to take this professor.

Dr. Melidonis is nothing but the best person to be teaching anthropology. His lectures and this course will give you a new perspective on life. Best professor I've had yet! Grades fairly, solid syllabus that he sticks to, responds to emails quickly, and if you have any issues or questions with the coursework he'll jump to help you. Coursework was mostly discussion posts and quizzes (closer to tests really, about 40 questions each) as this is an 8 week class.

G.O.A.T. Yes, at Oxnard college professor Melidonis is the greatest professor ever. So caring and very approachable. His lectures open your eyes from the stories he speaks about. Just letting yall know he is easy we just do discussions but its the quizzes that are mainly hard but he is an easy A just makes sure to get the book its important for the quizzes.

Amazing professor!!

I have taken a couple of classes from Professor Melidonis and they have always been positive experiences. I do not see his class as an easy A but an accessible A if you show up to do the work. His lectures seem organized and the work itself is nothing too extremely challenging. He also seemed very approachable.

The most amazing Professor. After taking his courses I switched my major to Anthropology. He is so passionate about what he teaches and his lectures are both informative and interesting. I highly recommend any course with this Professor. For an A do all the readings and make sure you add sources. Most classes have quizzes and a final paper.

Took this class with Dr. Melidonis online during the summer, but I wish I'd taken it in person. He makes his lectures easy to follow, so that makes discussions and quizzes easy too. As long as you have a topic you're interested in for the paper, you'll do fine there too. If you ever do struggle, he'll do anything he can to help you.

Professor Melidonis is so funny. I am not interested in the topic of anthropology but he made it fun. I did it online and I wish I took him in person. He won't trip if you miss class but don't fall too far behind. Quizzes are lengthy ( about 20-40) but they are simple if you write good notes. Very understanding and nice guy

Coolest professor you will ever have. You can tell how much he enjoys teaching. Super funny and flexible with due dates. He always encourages us to go to him if we need help. PAY ATTENTION in the lectures, homework will be super easy just pay attention. His lectures are really interesting so don't worry about being bored.

The class consists of weekly discussions, 5 quizzes throughout the semester, and 1 paper. Dr. M has both video lectures (which can get pretty lengthy) and written lectures to go with the readings - very helpful. He doesn't provide an outline for the term paper, and he encourages you to pick a topic quickly. Otherwise, he's a great professor.

This class was super easy and great for meeting the honors requirement. He is accessible outside of class and really cares about his students. He is an easy grader and even let me turn in late work twice. His lectures are great and I learned a lot.

He really cares about anthropology and you can feel it through his lectures. I'm not sure if its cause this subject interests, or simply he is a very good teacher probably a mix of both, but he kept me very engaged in the topics. I was nervous about since it was only 4 weeks, but as long as you watch the videos and read you will do very well.

Dr. Melidonis from Princeton University is an OUTSTANDING anthropology professor! He explains lectures well and grades easy. The course includes discussions, quizzes, and a paper. Highly recommend. I actually took him twice, never disappointed.

He's the BEST! Seriously, I completed like half my general ed with him because he's amazing. Textbooks are not necessary, with the exception of a few classes of course. he explains in a way that really keeps you engaged with his lectures. He's also super understanding. Course work consists of discussion posts and quizzes.

So, I just finished his 4-week online summer course and it wasn't that bad. Each week, we had 2 discussions and a quiz. There's no final for this course, but the "final" is a 5 pager Native Americans paper. You can pick the topic as well. Something I liked was if you didn't submit a discussion yet, he emailed you to remind you. Good class overall!

Be prepared to read. You have quizzes/discussions and a paper for your final. If you're taking other classes be prepared it's a lot of work. Gives good feedback, but I felt like he was a tough grader. Overall knows his stuff but I wouldn't take him again.

Engaging professor who makes the material fun. Textbook is helpful for quizzes, but his lectures are the real highlight. Try Unstuck study for quick study prep too.

The lectures were a bit long and didn't pertain to the quizzes discussions as much as the actual online textbook. Some of the discussion questions seemed as they were like sentences being rephrased,so it made it repetitive when I gave my answers. There was a lot of reading that you didn't need to do, I realized halfway through the class. hood class

I took this professor for two honors anthro courses, and both were very manageable. The workload was reasonable, and he explained concepts well.

10/10 my favorite professor to date. I took him for Native American studies and with online zoom lectures, and I looked forward to his class every week. He is a thoughtful and caring professor who grades reasonably and is responsive to any questions. You can tell he absolutely cares about his student's success & I hope to take every class he offers

I didnt know anything about Anthro and I felt like I defidenly learned something very friendly and very understanding he was my first ever Professor at Oxnard College and he got me excited to come to campus I want to be a teacher just like Him when I get my credentials! very funny and so kind

you have to do all the readings! you also have to understand the concepts. its a hard class if your just want to copy and paste. You have to actually read the subjects. the teacher's quizes are worded to see if student understands subjects. cool class. just read!

Melidonis is the reason I decided to work towards more than just a degree in Addictive Disorders Studies. I have taken 3 courses with him, and I actually have never met the dude! I plan on scheduling a zoom call with him soon to pick his brain a bit about grad school. ANTH R111 was amazing. I wrote my paper on drag artistry as a form of magic.

Wonderful professor. Despite my medical challenges throughout the semester, all late work was accepted as long as I communicated the issue. There was no "final," it was just a normal quiz which I did not expect. Overall would definitely recommend!

Professor Melidonis was AMAZING! So funny and so clever, really made you think. Not an easy class, but if you take it serious, you will come out with a really good understanding about other cultures, people, and even yourself! Also super honest (but extremely helpful) so sensitive persons who spew BS will fail. Love him! Mad respect for the man!

Quizzes are easy and the final is a really easy quiz, his syllabus is really unique in the sense that the majority of your grade is taken up by discussions. He's a really tough grader and I believe nobody got 100% on any of the discussions. It's really easy to schedule office hours and when you're there you can tell he truly wants to help.

By far my favorite professor. I am trying to take all of his classes that I can. He is thoughtful and gives amazing lectures. You can tell he cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed. If you see a class he offers, JUMP ON IT. He is knowledgeable, but not intimidating. He's what I hoped all college professors would be like. 10/10

Great class and professor. Entire class is based off discussion posts which are graded pretty roughly, but if you are a good writer he'll give you an A on them. I was in the honors class so I had to write a 10 page essay, but he grades that pretty generously. You can tell he genuinely likes to teach and I learnt a lot in this class.

Overall, an amazing teacher. I took his online class for ANTH101. It's clear that he wants all of his students to learn. However, you must be ready to read. He is a bit strict on the grading, but I'm sure if you try your best, you will succeed in the course. Definitely would take his class again!

He was my first and only anthropologist professor and he was amazing! Took an online course with him and homework was decent, discussion posts are required every week, he gives lots of feedback too and is willing to help. I recommend if you want to pass anthropology.

I loved his class! if you take him in person you will not regret it he is down to earth and so silly. I learned so much in his class and will be taking more of his classes! he has discussion posts and is a good lecturer I go back to the recorded videos from time to time just to laugh!
