Mr.A Sheynshteyn is the most qualified teacher ever taught at Elco:He provides democratic atmosphere, makes all students understand math 180,extremely flexible at accepting homework which adds 10% to your total, appreciates all opinions and he uplifts students spirits.
This Teacher RULES!!!!!! He breaks down math to simply English. He's the BEST.....
he's very willing to help his students pass his class. he made math as simple like an alphabet :D
dont get me wrong he really good with math but not teacher material
Very good teacher! He wants a success for the students. I didn?t understand stat but he spent his time to explain the material. Very helpful teacher.
Very good teacher! He wants a success for the students. I didn?t understand the material but he spent his time to explain the material. Very helpful teacher I strongly recommend him
A very devoted hardworking teacher.Highly knowledgeable and knows his subject. He answers all questions and provide a friendly environment.Students are expected to do their job and work hard.Highly recommended.
Good teacher! Totalling willing to help his students. He is lenient about attendance. Has a good sense of humor. Highly recommended!! :)
An excellent teacher. He is very knowledgeable. He helps students understand math and is very considerate towards students circumstances. God bless him
This class is an easy A. He is unorganized when it comes to his lectures. However, if you complete all your homework, you will pass the test. On the tests, he loves to give tricky problems, where the answer is no solution. However, his final exam is VERY baSiC! He is lenient when it comes to grading. His office hours are very helpful too!
you guys this profess is the best math profess. I had four math courses(business calculus 1,2 at Elcamino, Math 7 at SMC, and math 191 at elcamino). Include all, he is the best. Test is totally based on homework. The most and best thing abt his course is that he is REALLY HELPFUL. I gurantee that if you do the homework, u get an A easily. Choose hi

A gr8 teacher & lenient, but dnt take it 4 granted. If u skip a lecture, u'll miss an entire topic. Office hrs R very useful. He shows the easiest methods 2 solve probs. Lots of HWK, but gives enough time 2 complete it. Complete ALL the HWK & u'r guaranteed 2 pass the tests. He encourages class participation & is aware of who's really trying.
Don't belive if he said if he will give you a make up exam, get it in writing. He lied to me! He is one of the easiest teachers for math, but his accent and distractions he get him self into makes the students looses the intrest in class lessons. If you actualy want to learn talk to the dean..... Big dude with glasses he never wanted to see his grades through out school, he is the best teacher ever, he brakes it down and realate it to real life so you understand, but shangsten I won't recomend!
Very easy teacher, do home work and pass the test. Test can be tricky, but hes unorganized, hard to understand, and he even sometimes forgets what he is teaching. hes alright, not the best.
One of the best math professors I've had. The exams are based on homework questions (some taken directly from the homework or lecture examples) and are not too difficult. He gives practice exams the day before the test which really helps. Just go to class and do the homework and you will do fine. A study group helps even more
One of my best teacher in El Camino. The lesson was very clear and easy to understand. He worries about indiviual student and ready to show any problem clearly. The test was not hard if u attend class. He change my grade from B to A after recheck my grade. He worries about us and i think anyone should take this class. From Tam Dinh
very good teacher. test arent too hard. based on review sheets and HW. he gets alot of problems straight from the HW, the even numbers usually. Final is 30% of grade, so it can mess up your grade bad! HW is worth points. Very good teacher. and very helpful. very nice guy as well.

dont recommend. hes a pretty good teacher but how will u learn and understand the material if his accent is terrible! its funny because half the class fails because no one understands him. dont recommend at ALL. and he makes u bring the book EVERYDAY and its about apprx. 200. Trust me, it was hard enough for like 2.5 hours listening to nonsense
I REMEMBER THE CLASS WAS FULL FROM THE BEGINNING AND THERE WAS EVEN A WAITLIST BECAUSE OF THESE UNRELIABLE COMMENTS PEOPLE SAID ABOUT HIM. THEY THOUGHT HE WAS A GOOD TEACHER SO THEY GOT ON THE WAITLIST AND AFTER THE FIRST DAY, MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS DROPPED OUT BECAUSE THEY COULDNT UNDERSTAND HIM! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!
4tests-HW-final exam. He teaches very fairly, and you will need to study+HW. Ask anytime, he's always helpful! I'm surprised at the latest reviews. His accent is not an issue at all, never did anyone in class ask him to repeat anything and nobody misunderstood him. We had group activities and there was never any confusion on his instruction.
I enjoyed his class. Calculus is not easy but he grades fairly and gives you points for doing homework. His accent was not a problem. He was always eager to help if you needed it. You could tell that he loved calculus and was a genuine person.
I went into the class expecting a great teacher. He didn't disappoint. 4 test, one final. Usually very generous in grading. Lots of group activities, gives people a chance to have fun and talk. He's funny and helpful, tough, but Calculus is a tough class. Overall, a good teacher who wants his students to learn.
Prof. Arkadiy is COOL! Leon.
Prof. Arkadiy is the best teacher I've ever met!
He was a cool guy. We had a few fun projects and he was more than willing to help when I had questions. He has an accent but if you're not a jerk you could understand him.
He is an awesome teacher. he loves to help his students, he wants you to succeed. He is funny and makes lecture exciting. you should take him. GREAT PROF.
He is an awesome professor. He is extremely helpful, he wants his students to succeed. He is funny and makes lectures entertaining. If you want to enjoy math....take him.
Great professor! He is beyond helpful. He loves what he does and wants his students to succeed in his classes.
He is a great teacher easy going and willing to help whenever needed. He's awesome at explaining things.
He is a very helpful professor who wants his students to learn and understand the concepts of calculus rather than doing a bunch of problems. If there is a subject you don't understand he will help you without a hassle. I highly recommend him if you haven't been exposed to calc concepts.
Wouldn't recommend this professor for this particular section. During lectures the class was lost and I relied on the book and math lab for guidance. Prof would say one thing and do another. He grades fair but one must study rigorously and thoroughly to get good grade. He cuts no slack for the student
He'll help you with things if you ask him. He tries to explain things over and over for us to understand, but sometimes it's hard to understand his point. Tests aren't easy but aren't hard. Overall, he's a nice guy, just sometimes unclear. Summer courses are generally hard, so I can't do a fair rating.
This may be a strange semester, but the Sheynshteyn was teaching 4 or 5 other classes. Was unclear, impatient at times, and was visibly frustrated with the progress of the class. We were struggling with most keeping a dangerous C. Most my learning was done outside of class. Excellent person, maybe overworked. Didn't work out.
In all honesty, calculus is a tough subject. You can't expect to just show up to class and get an A. Professor Sheynshteyn is clear and consistent in his teachings, but it is also up to the student to put in time for this class.
A fantastic professor. He has said "You can ask me if you need help." he's really helpful. Moreover, He said "I don't want you guys to think that I am a killer." so he add a lot of extra credit and make test easy. High recommend his class.
VERY HELPFUL INSTRUCTOR. CLASS IS A BIT SLOW PACED BUT IF YOU ARE NEW TO MATH OR JUST PLAIN NOT GOOD AT IT HE WILL TAKE THE TIME TO FULLY EXPLAIN IT TO YOU. VERY GOOD INSTRUCTOR.
Great professor! Most of the work we did was online, fairly easy!
just finished 180 course! I haven't got my grade yet, but he always wants students to success! So he gave us many extra credits and a chance to drop worst exam!! One of the advantages of his course is that he focuses on teaching "the concept" on every chapter, not on just memorizing, so I'm sure he will make studying math more interesting.
This teacher is a lot of help. He is really passionate about math and is all ways ready to help. Just ask questions and he'll explain. The test are easy as long as you do the homework ,which is not mandatory. But if you need math and really want to understand it this is your best bet. Only down is that he has a little accent but nothing too bad
theGreat teacher. I took his class over summer and it really helped me understand trig. As long as you do the HW the test will be easy. HW is not mandatory but the test come straight out the book.
He is a great teacher! He's very helpful and explains the concepts thoroughly, gives handouts to study, and encourages questions if you do not understand. Another plus, HW is all online! I highly recommend DR. Sheynshteyn
Professor S is a great teacher. He genuinely cares for his students and wants them to do good. It's a tough class as any upper level math class so you have to put your part in, but he will guide you. His tests are fair, just do the HW and you'll do good. Professor S is a great teacher and a great person. I highly recommend his class.
Very caring professor. The exam problems are straightforward and similar to the hw problems he assigns. He does not give out tricky problems. However, his lecture can sometime be confusing and boring. Sometimes the textbook does a better job of explaining the material covered in class. He does curve the exam grades!!!
Many of his lectures were very rushed and many times he had little to no patience in explaining the material. Most of my learning I did outside of class. The way he graded his test was a little weird as well, he took many points off if the work was out of order even if your answer was correct.
First of all, all math classe arent easy. I see people are complaning Sheynshteyn's classes are hard but I had no problem understanding the materials that he was lecturing. He has a thick Russian acccent, but the way he grade tests are super easy. Do your homework and ask him questions during office hours, then you will receive an esay A-B grade.
A person is able to tell how good and prepared a professor is by how well they elaborate on a subject and how profound their explanations are; Professor Sheynshteyn is that professor. You will not only learn HOW to do cal problems, but also WHY to do them. He worked as an engineer prior to teaching so he has plenty of practical advice! Good luck!
Good professor. He had very good methods that you won't find in the textbook. I didn't have too much trouble understanding him. If you can survive past the first few weeks in his summer class, the rest is easy.
Those who lack personal responsibility for their own grade, shouldnt criticize this prof. The reality is that if you take this prof, you will be taught by one of El Camino's greatest, most patient, and understanding math profs. He offers extra credit, opportunities to learn from a variety of media, and best of all, he's got a great sense of humor.
i had Mr. sheynshteyn two strait semesters and i have never seen him teach a class with notecards. he is a great teacher, he is very helpful and explains everything as simple as possible and does not get mad if he has to explain it multiple times. he even drops your lowest test and will postpone a test if the class doesn't understand the material.
He is an excellent instructor because he care about his students. Keep in mind that this class is a high level of math,so you have to put in the work. He is so cool . He makes the environment of the class easy going. His sense of humor is incredible. And he loves what he does. Definitely a plus and take him
excellent teacher . :)
Good teacher
It was after this class that I decided to start tutoring. Mr. Sheynshteyn was instrumental in this decision. It was a condensed semester and there was a lot of work and explaining to do. Mr. Sheynshteyn did an excellent job.
great teacher, always willing to help. do not get lazy though, do the homework and ask for help. i love how he makes you do practice problem in class as a group, it really helps!
His class is challenging and his tests are tough, but if you do all the homework and pay attention in class, an A in this class is very doable. He is always willing to help and I love the fact that he stresses the understanding of concepts as opposed to rote memorization of techniques. If you want an enriching intellectual experience, take him.
Not clear
If you're bad at math, do not take this professor. He's an upper-division professor teaching lower-division, and if you're bad at the subject, it'll all fly straight over your head. He teaches things theoretically when this class isn't even meant for math-relevant majors. He knows a lot, though. You might have a better time if you're good at math.
He can explain his method but if you're lost look at the examples in the book- sometimes it's simpler and less confusing. If you do a few of the hw problems in each section correctly, you'll pass the tests. A Kind guy, but his time management needs work- the majority of class we were rushed through chapters, before that, class was paced perfectly.
Professor Sheynshteyn is an extremely helpful, caring professor. He is always willing to help his students and he makes sure that everyone understands the lessons. His lectures are clear and he explains the concepts very well. He is also available during his office hours and will walk you through the problems or concepts you are having trouble with
Make sure you know your trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. I got a 60% on the first test because I didnt know my stuff. This is a rigorous course that moves pretty fast, but the professor actually does an excellent job explaining the material. He challenged me to do better and with his help, I was able to get an A average on the remaining tests.
He's a good professor, but he goes way to heavy on concept. There's nothing wrong with that but he tends to mess up a lot, which confuses you. He puts stuff on the exam you will never see time to time, maybe one or two questions, but still it lowers your test score. He doesn't understand your question sometimes so it does get frustrating.
5 tests, all based on homework problems. His lecture is not that inspiring, but he still explains the concepts. His homework problems are easy. Practice a bit with the homework problem, and your test will be easy. Also he offers a lot of extra credit, and he grades very generously. At least B is guaranteed.
Go to class, take good notes, DO the hw, study for exams, and you'll be fine. 4 exams but drops the lowest one and sometimes gives an extra exam on a topic that the class is struggling on to boost your grade. An up-tempo, funny, and inspirational type of professor.
This guy is Amazing ! I love his way of teaching he is supper funny and chill. He is Russian so make a Vodka joke and he will like you lol. He is a fair grader and his tests are straight forward. make your self a favor and take him, you will have so much fun. He will make the boring subject into fun and enjoyable.
I love this professor. I had a very high A in his class. All you have to do is doing the homework and reviewing the homework problems before any quiz or test. He might be a little unorganized, but he gives many extra credits in his tests. His class was stress free, and he is very good at explaining concepts.
Made me lose interest in engineering. Students are always correcting him which gets the whole class confused. The classwork is nothing related to his tests. The class gets went from 50 students at the beginning of the year to 11 students by the end of the semester... This comes from a student that has always gottengood grades in math
He is fairly easy. Anything that is cover in class will be on the test! Nothing new. He assigned homework but was not turned in. It was just to help you for the exams. He is clear with concepts and what is going to be in the test. Overall easy grader!
He's a great professor, if you don't understand something, he is more than willing to help. His lectures are pretty clear. If you do the homework, you will pass the class, he's understanding and an easy grader.
Do the homework and exams will be simple. Willing to help and explain until the material is clear. Lectures are straightforward and cover material on exams. Easy grader.
Funny and chill prof. Cracks jokes but also watches the class and makes sure everyone's keeping up. Tests have no surprises, if you've paid attention in class and done the hw, you should be fine. I wouldn't call the class an easy A but it wasn't harder than neccessary. He made the material straight-forward and I feel well-prepared for calc II.
He is a great professor! But if you want to pass the class go to his office hours and do the homework.
Do your homework and you will be prepared for tests.
not a good teacher. he doesn't explain well. i would not recommend him. he's a really nice person he's funny but makes a lot of mistakes. goes for breaks for 30 mins. his class is boring and time will never pass. he looks least interested also. he's not clear. if you're bad at math do not take this teacher. WONT RECCOMEND HIM @ ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He teaches shortcuts and uses examples from the book to help. He has trouble explaining certain things for you to understand even when you ask questions, he doesn't help all the time, he leads you to the same response. Your grade is made up of only his tests and exams. Homework is not mandatory but it's worth doing! Practice as much as possible!!
Professor Sheynshteyn is one of the best and knowledgable ones who I have had ever. He knows how to explain the lessons and the way of realization them. He explains a lot until the students can understand the subjects. He teaches so coherent and is totally regular. Also, he is flexible towards the students situations. I believe he is number one.
Helpful teacher! he made sure whether students understood or not. he was always willing to teach us even how to use a calculator. You'd better do HW although he never check it. Do HW, review before a test and participate in class, then you'll be fine. He knows what you deserve in this class:)!
NO PARTIAL POINT given. He tries the best for the students to learn the topic but I wouldn't recommend this professor. I still do not know what I scored in the last two exams and final.
I took his course knowing that his rating is a 4.0. However we've all been catfished! Day one.. he completely confused the whole class. It was due to his accent and lack of teaching skills. Second day was even worse. Everyone was lost. His lectures have no structure. He hardly gives examples to solve out for the class. Do not take his class!!
He is an awesome professor, he is understanding and funny. I took him for trigonometry and now taking him for 180. If you ever need help just know that he will help you out in class or during his office hours. He is willing to help if you ask for help. During class he gives multiple examples to the class, so students can understand the material.
Professor S. is an amazing professor. He gives clear lectures and makes sure that his students are understanding the concepts. Go to his office hours before a test. I did that and it helped a lot on the day of the exam. The test are based on the homework and lectures he gives. Come to class everyday, DO THE HOMEWORK, and you will be fine.
Knows his stuff, but clearly doesn't know how to teach. He hates answering questions and starts yelling when we don't understand what he's teaching. Our notes are just three problems he solves for us, and then he moves onto the next section.
I would say he is a patient teacher. He goes over sections carefully, and slowly to make sure all students understand. he also gives time for activity group so students can help each other. He is always willing to answer problems from students. I really admire how patient he is when he spends time to solve a hard problem which students dont get it.
Yeah, he gives a lot of homework, but if you actually do it, you'll easily pass the class. He cares to make sure everyone understands the lesson and goes over it multiple times if the class doesn't. He's a great professor :)
Take him. He is a very good teacher. He gives extra credit which is very helpful. You can get A if you follow his lecture and do homework. Quizzes are easy and short so easy A.
Honestly he was the 3rd time that I had to take the class and he was the best teacher of the 3. He is good at explaining the difficult concepts and is willing to explain things multiple times. Just pay attention to the lectures and do the hw .Before i took his class i barely understood algebra but now I feel like Im ready for the next course.
Sheynshteyn is super sweet and is good at explaining problems during lecture. He emails you homework and even though it may seem like a lot, it isn't if you spread it out. He assigns homework but your grade is only based on tests/quizzes/final, if you participate and do homework you will do good! He is a great teacher and I hope to get him again
Kind and helpful professor. Has a good sense of humor and tells a lot of good jokes during class. He will also stop during the lecture and make sure that everyone understands the material that is being covered.
The entire class was based on 4 tests and a final. His "notes" are straight out of the book, so you can basically teach yourself. Makes mistakes a lot. Takes three weeks to give back tests and homework. Be careful when you look at the reviews, Math 80 is WAY DIFFERENT from Math 180. He's a nice professor and all, he just doesn't teach that well.
Russia accent but doesn't bother. You only need to take 5 tests. This professor will go over every test detailly before you take them. Thus, you do not need the tests to study for the final. All you need to get an easy A is do the homework and ask him for help if you need. He is always there. Dont be lazy. Math 180 is not as easy as Math 80.
His class wasn't too bad. Everything was straight forward. Book is mandatory. The professor was always willing to help during and after class. Tests were a little bit hard but not too bad. For me the class was alright but everyone has their opinions.
This professor is so unorganized. He makes constant mistakes in lectures, exams, and grading exams. He teaches some chapters for 5 minutes and drags out simple problems for half the class. He grades based on exams and 5% hw. No curves. You'll have a higher chance passing by studying the book than his lectures. Get on his good side, you might pass.
Hw are similar with the exams, so make sure you do it and review it before exams. Once I forgot to copy some formulas and he allowed me to check it on the book :p Check your email everyday, he sent u hw questions and exam chapters in there. Once he added some chapters to be tested on a Tuesday exam, and email us about this on Sunday.
Dr. Sheynshteyn is a good teacher. A bit hard to understand at first but you'll understand and get the hang of it soon enough. Some advice would be to participate in class. The material really isn't that hard to understand so long as you take the time to understand the concept and ask questions. Dr. Sheynshteyn really cares about his students.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! but if you understand everything already, take him cuz his tests are easy.
Professor S is honestly a great professor...i had him for 180 and decided to take him for 190. it was a hard class but he helped me out alot. go to his office hours before every test, trust me you will need the help. DO the homework and come to class.
i took Prof. Sheynshteyn for 180 and decided to take him again for 190 because he was such a good professor. Math 190 is hard but he helped me out a lot. He truly cares and he wants everyone to pass. Take him you won't regret it. Go to office hours, he is super helpful. Do the homework and come to class, you will be fine.
He takes his time to explain the concepts and sometimes put students in groups to solve problems. His tests are fairly easy. Although I have not met many math professors, I believe that he is a great choice.
Professor Sheynshteyn's natural ability to explain difficult calculus concepts helped me tremendously with this class. By going to class, doing all homework, and taking advantage of his help during office hours I was able to exceed my own success expectations. I highly recommend his calculus class if you are serious about learning.
Professor Arkadiy Sheynshteyn was a good guy but he would get confused and than confuse me. it was impossible to ask for help during a lecture because he wouldn't understand what you were asking. Don't get me wrong he knows his stuff but he is super unorganized. AND WAS NEVER AT HIS OFFICE HOURS!
His lecture is very understandable and respects students. Through the semester, he took attendance only three or four times, but in order to get high score in test, you must join the class, do homework and go to ask him at his office hour. At the test there are two or three extra questions and those are extra credit. I highly recommend him.
MATH 80: A genuine man. One of the best professors.. He knows his math. Show up and and do the homework. He's very understanding and loves to help you out if you don't understand something. He's a fair grader. He teaches by concepts and not just by patterns or shortcuts. You will learn alot. If you're a STEM major I deffintly recommend!
Calculus is a hard regardless which professor you take, but Professor Sheynshteyn's ability to explain difficult calculus concepts helped me tremendously this semester. He cares about his students and will always help you if you don't understand the concept. Make sure to always do the assigned homework and attend his lecture. Fantastic professor!!!
MAKE SURE YOU PAY ATTENTION, HE IS A GREAT TEACHER
Math 80: Very clear tests and good lectures. If you can do and understand the homework, you will pass the test. No sneaky business. Works hard to help students. Make sure you ask questions if you don't understand something. Russian accent was much less of a problem than people think it will be. Overall great prof.
If you are hardworking and ready to learn, you will do great in his class. This class is not for lazy people. This professor will help you when he sees efforts. He is so caring. Strive to understand everything and attend office hours. One last thing to note is to take you homework seriously, it will help you in the test. His tests are easy....
not a great teacher and gets confused with his own problem.. You will have to teach yourself most of the time .
Prof. Sheynshteyn, is very knowledgeable when it comes to math. Every time I had a question he would always find a way to explain it me. I highly recommend to engage in class discussions and make sure to do the homework after each session. If you can pay attention in class and do the homework every week, trust me you won't regret taking his class.
He gives great feedback! He is very approachable and caring. Make sure you do all the homework and you will get a good grade. Also, extra points on each unit test to improve your grade.
A great professor. Very nice and approachable. You will have an easy class if you write down what he has on the board. Also, you MUST do your homework if you want an easy A, because most of his exams are from the homework he gives you.
Class is enjoyable, The Professor made good jokes during lectures, his explanations were easy to understand, and he always encourages students to ask questions. The tests are well made not to hard nor too easy just right. Make sure to do the homework as the tests are very similar. i truly liked the class. Would take other classes from him again.
RUN! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. How he teaches isn't clear. He is confusing.
He honestly knows what he is talking about and his class is not very hard. However, his accent may make it a little hard to understand what he is talking about. If you pay close attention during class, take good notes, and do the homework, his class is easy. You just have to put in the effort. He is also always willing to help.
Cant teach for squat. His handwriting is terrible and no one learns anything in his in class sessions. A big joke. Too many typos on his test, I cant believe el camino would pass this man as a professor. Really makes me question there ability in hiring adequate proffesors
I don't know why he can get 4 or 5 from the previous rates. DO NOT trust them! Never replies to your email, writes so small on the board, and really tough grader.
Literally horrible. not sure how people love him. he writes so small you can't see even in the front of class. he makes no sense, the whole class was a joke. during covid he was not understanding, barley taught. do not take him.
possibly the worst professor i had at elco. he grades people's tests like whatever. i would compare tests after getting them back with classmates. same answer the same work my test would be 60% their's would be 90% makes no sense. so many people complain about him so elco why is he still teaching? he sucks at teaching his lectures don't make sense.
No other explanation. He posted a few short lectures throughout the whole semester, (about 10min long, him writing something on a paper) which were barely readable. He posted a bunch of powerpoints per section in one day, and did not give us any feedback since then. Not clear in grading, no grading rubric, and a tough grader.
No partial credit on the exam, if your answer is right but you didn't solve it the way he wanted, youd lost the whole point. He literally changed the path towards my major, I could say I was barely taught. I decided to take Math 190 again with the other professors. AVOID HIM IF POSSIBLE. You dont want to waste your time and tuition on this course
Arkadiy Sheynshteyn is an amazing professor! If you need to fulfill your math requirements at El Camino, do what you can to get Arkadiy Sheynshteyn! He is the best!!
I enjoyed every class with this professor; it was enjoyable solving the problems of his classes, and his explanations are excellent. Im glad that I took math 80 with you; I learned a lot with him. His hard work during this hard time really shows. He made his best effort to help us learn even online. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!
Professor Sheynshteyn is an overall great professor. Hes guided his students throughout this semester and his course planning during the pandemic worked well.
He is one of the best math professors I've ever had. Totally recommended, his explanations are great. Also, he makes sure that you really understand the topic, helping you even after class if necessary. Take his class if you want a good professor and learn everything you need from it
Math is hard for me but prof. Sheynshteyn's explanations were very clear. I highly recommend him
meticulous and caring professor. Always provided exam reviews. homework is important. Got math knowledge from the class
Professor Sheynshteyn's class was very enjoyable. The test was not easy, but he is accessible outside the class through email so you could reach out for help. He is very caring and kind where he could help out the student's problem as if it is his own. Take his class, you won't regret.
There's no way you can't pass this class. We had 16 hours in total to take the test and most questions on the test were questions in the book. As long as you do the homework problem he gives you, you'll be fine in this class.
If a professor can stump a math major that's in their 3rd year of college, it would be this professor. His lectures were just straight from the book. The video lectures were the bare minimum. His feedback doesn't go into detail. He literally just says "#3- Wrong answer -8 pts". Thank you because that helped? Good luck if you have him.
Professor Arkadiy does not have homework to do, which is awesome, but the grade is absolutely base on the exam. We totally have four chapter exams and one final exam, so make sure you really need to study well on the exam, or you may fail. The textbook is necessary, in my opinion, you have the textbook, you win! And you will know what I'm saying ^^
In this online class, you don't have any homework to do, which is awesome, but the grade is absolutely base on the exams, we totally have four chapter exams and one final exam, so make sure you study well, or you may fail. The textbook is necessary, in my opinion, you have the textbook, you win! And you will know what I'm saying on the exam. ^^
Hes a lovely professor and accessible if needed. Because we are online, he posts his lectures on video onto canvas. We had four exams and one final. Very straightforward.
His lectures are very short and clear. HWs are optional however you will get an A if you do HW. only 4 exam during the semester 100 point each. overall he is a good professor, however he is a tough grader.
This class was very helpful, the zoom office hours are one of the best tools you can use to get help. Professor Sheynshteyn is willing to help you if you need help. I was on track of failing the class but since I decided to use his office hours meetings he has helped me so much on the concepts of Math 190.
Prof Sheynshetyn is definitely one of the best math professors Ive ever had. His class consists of effective lectures along with hw for extra practice, & the class is based off of 5 exams which are really straightforward. As long as you put forth effort & attentively review the lessons you will pass with a good grade. Definitely take this class!
Calculus is a tough subject but Prof. Sheynshetyn does not overcomplicate it. Prof. Sheynshetyn has a very straight forward grading criteria. Summer online consisted of only three exams. He posts all his lecture videos way in advance so there is plenty of time to review materials. Overall, very kind and easily accessible outside of class. :)
His lectures are clear, and he gives practice exams before each excellent exam. The practice exam questions are similar to the actual test. So, if you do the practice test, then you should be fine on the actual exam. One thing he could approve of is his handwriting. Sometimes you can't distinguish whether it's an exponent or multiplication.
Professor Sheynshteyn was a great professor to have, as he didn't have mandatory participation or homework, but let us learn at our own pace. He included homework and lectures that you could do if you needed more help, or choose not to if not. He also gave practice tests that prepared you very well for the real test, and gave us an answer key.
Wanna know how bad of a professor he is! I checked to see if my review was here a year later just to make sure people can see how horrible of a teacher he is and its not there anymore. Well I already transferred to USC, fight on!, and I just had to make sure to warn y'all about this class. HORRIBLE GRADER AND THE WORST PROF I HAD IN EL CAMINO.
He is taking care of students. Provides not only with video lectures but also with handouts to clarify material, a lot of different resources
Took online, big mistake, gives no feedback on quizzes other than wrong essentially. Very thick accent and bad grammar so cant even understand the lectures and stuff he posts anyways because of errors. Tests were not taken on zoom however but still was very difficult as he looks for SPECIFIC things that if youve taken calc before you dont need
Professor Sheynsteyn does not give much feedback on exams. He simply tells you it's wrong. Your grade is based off 4 exams & a final. Only gives homework as an option to practice. Also gives practice exams before each exam. Math isn't my strong suit so it was quite difficult for me. His lecture videos are handwritten notes but hard to read.
Nice Professor, if you work hard definitely will get good grades
His recorded lectures are extremely hard to follow and dont teach the material effectively. I legit stopped watching them after the first 2 weeks due to how bad they were. I resorted to Youtube vids and using the textbook, which was 100x better. Everything I learned about Calc was not because of him. Only positive was having all day to do tests.
He has 4 tests and a final for his class, that's it. He posts lectures going over all the material for the tests, provides practice tests, and handouts that are all helpful and relatable to the material given on the tests. He has a clear time for office hours where he will help you with what you need. However, you will need to work for your grade.
Good lectures, finished class with a 100%, hw not mandatory, online asynchronous class, 5 exams, grade is only based on exams, opportunities for extra credit, he responds pretty fast to emails, hw problems on exams, gives 16 hrs to take exams which is flexible if u have a tough schedule, found pdf of textbook for free, just study & u'll be fine,
Professor is nice & caring, however he is a tough grader and gives no feedback. Can't understand prerecorded lectures. I resorted to teaching myself from the textbook. Exams make up entire grade. Dispute this I recommended if you are able to self-teach, no HW, and since u have 16 hrs to complete exam. If not then I suggest looking elsewhere.
An easy class, make sure to watch the lectures and read the material
Rly bad lectures dont waste your time watching them. Except to study on your own. The textbook is ur friend. Tests are fair tho because they are similar to the optional hw problems. Tip: Make sure to practice problems with Eulers number in them because he really likes them for some reason.
Only reason why I passed was cause I took AP Calc in high school so I was already familiar with the material. His lectures aren't easy to understand and aren't helpful. HW is optional and the test questions are similar to the book. The Organic Chemistry Tutor on youtube is helpful if you are lost. You get 16 hours to complete exams so that's good.
