He was so easy, but couldn't speak english at all, and he mumbles a whole lot.
Worst teacher i have ever had.
He was a lot better than my last professor and answered all questions. He listened to our concerns and knew when we were having trouble and gave more examples. I liked him a lot.
Very good teacher. Always willing to help out. Gives you review sheets before the tests. Very good person as well. I would recommend anyone who needs a good grade to take him
EASY EASY if u have previous exams u get an A
SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!gives review which is good because he speeds through the book.I think the only way I learned math was to keep doing the problems in the book, cause he dosen't show how to solve them. Hard work on my part... I've been out of school for 20 years..but I passed.
hard to understand his english. Pretty easy going as a teacher though. willing to give re-take test and gives a review b4 exam.
Dr. Kitover is a very smart man. He's Russian and he really knows the information. I'm not so sure about his teaching skills. I feel though, that he knows there is a major barrier and is very easy about giving alot of point on an exam but only making it worth 100 points. I got 100 on ever exam. He's very accomidating!! Taking him for 162!!
Hes pretty cool becuase he gives make up test and you only answer again the ones you got wrong. The problems are hard though, atleast 6 out of ten
Gives test reviews. If you can get past his broken english you will be ok. Make sure you get a tutor because he really does not teach well. had to teach myself
He is amazing!
WOW! Great teacher, very helpful always willing to help his students. A little hard to understand his english but we manage
His a really fair teacher ... He wants you to do well and learn. He gives opp. for make up tests that you missed or simply did bad. His tests are extremely easy...if you do not pass his class you would not pass anyone els's
Great teacher. Very helpful despite his heavy accent.
I would not take his class if the material was new to me.It was like a review so I was able to follow most of the time. His accent is heavy but you get used to it. He is helpful and makes getting high scores easy.
Nice teacher. Great teacher. Before his exam students should study very hard. One thing I will recomend to everybody whose going to take him in calculus II , first two exams try do as best as you can, because last exam are so hard and difficult topic. On exams he gives 20 extra points sometimes up to 40 extra points...
Great teacher! He is a bit difficult to understand due to his accent. But as a teacher he is very good. He knows his material and he uses the book just to do exercises. Very nice teacher!!!
Strong Accent. Test are extremely Hard
He is a terrible teacher, i have to re-take his course. if you want to learn anything, i dont suggest him
If you need the credit but do not need to "know" the stuff then take him. You wont learn ANYTHING in his class (especially over his thick accent) and because he looks at the floor while teaching. Never makes eye contact with the students and the way he teaches is by doing problems on the board, without discussing it, and while skipping steps. Usele

The best math teacher I've ever had! he gives out reviews for the tests. I took him for 151, 161, and 171. very good teacher! yes, he has a strong accent but you can sit closer and listen to him. for me it wasn't a problem at all.
I ended up really appreciating calculus after this class! Dr. Kitover's level of math understanding is so high! THE fairest grader at CCP! Gives make-ups if needed, and is one of the few math teachers who actually gives extra credit on tests! Reviews are very thorough, and gives you extra time if you need to finish the test! Accent was no problem.
He mainly teaches by doing problems. For Calc 3 this works pretty well, I'm not sure how useful this would be in other classes. He is very nice, but quiet and timid, I'm sure his accent has something to do with it. Sadly many student seem to take advantage of this. He has an excellent understanding of math and can answer questions quite well.
Professor Kitover is not a bad teacher. Some people have trouble with his accent, but the closer you sit towards the front of the class and pay attention, you understand the words. When it comes to tests, they are short and he practically gives similar questions in his handout so you know what questions to prepare for. In the end, his class is easy.
This is the worst teacher I ever had. He does not explain any of the problems. He looks at the ground when he talks. Seems like he gets mad when students ask him questions. The reviews he gives out before the test are helpful, but the teacher himself is not helpful
Hard to understand in class, but will help students that seek help. Reviews for every test and has a well structured grading system.
His accent takes some time getting used to and most of his teaching consists of him doing countless problems out of the textbook on the board. Don't be too quick to judge and give him a chance, overall he is not a bad professor.
kitover is a good professor the only problem is his accent. but one thing i like about him he solves homework problems and answer student questions.
kitover is a good professor. The only thing about him is his accent. But if you listen to him with care i think you can understand him. one thing i like about him he solves home work problems and answer question if you ask him. he is kind of easy professor
Hard class, but teacher gives makeups, so you can get very good grade
pretty much have to teach yourself the whole thing. All he does is do equations on the board, never asks questions, no homework. Your grade is the average of 4 tests all of which consist of 10 questions which are not multiple choice
The professor is a little bit hard to understand but overall he is a good teacher. Attend the classes, show the interest, do good on the tests (3+final).
Great teacher! I did not expect Math 171 be so easy. Not difficult tests and final. Book is optional.
Good teacher! He is a bit difficult to understand due to his accent. But as a teacher he is good. He knows his material and he uses the book to do exercises. Very good teacher!!!
Very hard class pretty much have to teach myself which obviously didnt work, only passed one test and the final you cant use calculator so most likey ill fail this class. better off taking an online class than take his clss
It's hard to understand him b/c of his accent, but he gives shortcuts to solving problems sometimes. His tests are short and he gives you some extra time, so you don't have to worry about time management too much, and the problems are very similar to the ones his review packet, so no surprises. He also gives makeups.
Worst teacher Ive had at CCP. So hard to understand, does not use book and just writes on the board for 4 straight hours. No HW. Can use notes on test but the notes don't help with the test problems. I will never take him again nor would I recommend it.
he don't know how to teach, but he up there talking the full 3 hours. used the book like twice so it useless. his test be easy but that's only cause he lets you use notes and guides
Sit in the front, hard to understand, does not seem to enjoy teaching but if student seeks 1-1 help he is VERY helpful. You can get an A in this class and still not completely understand the material. You will need to do recommended self study (uncollected hw). He allows make ups for all tests, & ex creed which allow you to enter final with points.
Great class and great teacher!! I learned a lot and the preparation time as well as what was expected was reasonable. The professor is fair with grading and treats all students with respect. As long as you come to classes, do the recommended homework, and try for the exams you will get a decent grade. I definitely recommend this class!
Great professor. Very helpful if you don't understand something. If you come to class, take notes, and take the time to study the material, you will do well in the class.
Coolest guy ever!! Extra credits for tests. EASY GRADER. Will grade test in 30 sec and tell you your score. Don't like your score? You can retake (except final exam). Missed a test? There's make up. Super helpful. Answer questions, go over testsreviewsHW. Just read book & do problems before coming to class. Tough material obviously. READ OR FAIL!
Really Nice guy but his class is weird... there really isn't any teaching involved, he simply writes the equations on the board and then answers them with no rhyme or reason. I squeezed out a solid A from the class, but in truth, it was the absolute worst A I've ever gotten. I may actually have to Calc again just because I really didn't learn much!
Kitover calculus classes easy 'A'. He is definitely the of the easiest teachers. Pros: take home retake test for the problems you get wrong. Test are simple and straight forward grading criteria is easy to follow does many examples Con: Self-taught fast-paced lecture difficult to understand does not answer your questions clearly
I bet he would be a great teacher if his accent wasn't so thick. Can barely understand. Barely got an A because I taught myself and used the online source from a textbook to teach me. Do not recommend unless you want to teach yourself LOL
Professor Kitover always write problems, and solve them from the text book, which doesn't help students learn, and his thick accent is hard to interpret. Kitover is reserved and kind, but he needs to slow down, and show students how to use basics to calculate problems, so they won't struggle with higher math courses. Overall, it was time-consuming.
The best math teacher in this school. Reason being that he really wants all his students to pass the class. The test are open book. Gives extra credit and lets you redo test so you can get a higher grade. Sometimes he will give you a take home exam. Test are tough but gives test reviews that are useful. Hard to understand due to medical issues.
You will not understand anything he is saying! Very heavy accent. But is very friendly and will tell you what you need to do to pass. Take notes! You can use them on test!
Very odd man and boring class (took a four hour Saturday class, don't recommend) but he can be sweet and provides study guides which are basically like the exam so as long as you know how to work out those problems it's pretty cut and dry.
I didn't get much out of coming to his class. He spent class solving problems on the board, but not explaining concepts involved. Rarely turns around or asks for student input. I taught myself the material from the textbook. Show up though, or he'll drop you. Pros are that he gives extra credit, and the tests are similar to the study guide.
Easy A, if you can get around his accent and that you will be mostly teaching yourself. Take notes from what he writes on the board and pay attention on the test reviews. Don't like your original test grade? Do the take home retest for a better grade. Would take again if required, but just for the easy grade.
He has an accent so it is necessary that you pay attention during class. Gave about 6 tests throughout the semester. All tests are open book and you have the opportunity to retake if you do bad the first time.
Open book tests, one homework due the day of each test. Prepares you a lot for each test and gives a lot of extra credit. Easy A
I'm taking him as a summer course and it was the worst idea I ever had. His accent is heavy and incomprehensible, he does give retakes for all of his tests but, be ready to go to tutors. He speeds through problems with little explanation on his answers. Don't miss more than 2 classes or you can't take retakes. dont take him if you need this class!
He cares about his students and he will go above and beyond if you are willing to work for it. Between him and online learning lab that comes with the text book, it will take miracle to fail his class.
Great teacher! You just have to use to his accent.
Although his accent is heavy, all of his tests are open book so its worth it honestly. Just pay attention in class, take notes and you'll pass. He doesn't ever check homework. I highly recommend .
Take him! 6 tests and a final , lowest grade would be dropped ,the 6th test is take home , aaand you can make up EVERY test ! Easy B , and maybe A, unless you are very bad in algebra . I had my class 1 day a week for 3 hours , didn't bother at all , homework is not mandatory and he goes over it , also , you don't need a book , if you take notes
Although I said I wouldn't take a class with him again, I did. It is VERY hard to understand him. He does answers questions asked but he gets VERY annoyed and eventually stops answering. The review packets he gives are your golden ticket to a decent grade in his classes.
Awful Teacher. Rushes through the material, doesn't take the time to explain the problems. He gets annoyed when questions are asked or repeated. He mumbles which makes it difficult to understand. He allows you to use your notes and text book during the test, but since you have NO idea what you are doing it is of little or no help. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He has a bad accent but trys his best. Cant say anything really bad nor say anything good. You have 3 tests that he always curves, lectures are long and boring but you have to suck it up and sit through it. Its an easy A if you put some effort.
I enjoyed his class. He is very respected professor. Also he expects all students to come to class unless you have a reasonable excuse. Especially if you struggle with math I would recommend to take him !
He seems like a strict professor on the outside but he is actually very nice. The only time he got mad at our class was when kids would show up halfway through class or blast loud noises on their phone. Also you get two chances to pass his exams, so there really is no excuse not to do well :)
Well respected professor. Accent is heavy, but he is smart. Highly recommend reading the textbook before going to his lectures.
I am terrible at math, and I got an A in this class. He has an accent but the tests are open book so its 100% worth it.
Took him for a 6 week Calc 1 course. Overall good teacher. Read the book and study outside of class and you will understand. As for his accent, it's a little rough, but you adjust. Anyone who rates him poorly doesn't understand math professors in general, they aren't like business or social science profs. Come to class prepared to learn a skil
Easy A. Tests are open book and, in addition, he reviews similar problems prior to an actual test. He is always helpful but you would need to read the material to succeed if you're bad at math.
He only grades based on the answer you got, not the whole solution, and yet gives 4 question tests. His accent is so heavy you won't understand 80% of what he says. At the end of class he doesn't seem to ever want to stick around for student questions, he literally ran out of the class a few times. He will laugh at you for asking some questions.
Professor Kitover is an intelligent teacher. He gives clear explanations and support new information with examples (lots of them). You have to practice and do exercises, then you wont have any problems. You can use your notes at exam!
Hes awful. I would never take again. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Don't take him
I had an online class with him. Very flexible due dates for the assignments. 5 attempts for each problem with the homework and not a lot of tests to take with 3 attempts each but you should be able to pass them! He also gives extra credit so even if you're bad at math, you'll be alright.
i took him for 161 , he gives 2 weeks to do your homework , 3 tests and one homewoork and each one has 40 questions.
Online class, extra credit is super easy. Multiple chances to correct homework. 2 weeks between assignments due. Replies to emails. He really just facilitates, he does no teaching. The program used is super easy and you have no excuse not to pass.
I took this class online during the COVID-19 pandemic, so my experience was probably different from most other people who took his classes before. His grading criteria was very homework-heavy and the tests were rather difficult.
Just thru Pearson. Answers promptly. Way too easy not to pass. Just communicate he will assist.
I am taking his class right now and it's online and you can tell he hates it. All he does is read from a paper he wrote and screen shares the paper so there is no actual problem solving during class. He assigns homework and tests online on a platform you have to pay $100 to use. I chose his class due to the reviews I saw here and I am regretting it
Half the class dropped it after the first week, the accent isn't the main issue, its the fact that he talk low and mumbles and faces away from the class 90% of the time he is talking. This is essentially an asynchronous class because there is no work to be done in class and just him writing example problems from the textbook on the board.
Talks very quietly and is difficult to understand. Doesn't really elaborate too much or ask the students how they're doing with the material.
His class was ok, he didn't even reach out to anyone or say much I think because it was online and you have to buy an access code to do homework it was about 100 dollars, and didn't even explain the chapters and just showed videos. he also barely gives any homework, with homework being 50% of your grade, test 50% and video you watch 10%.
Professor Arkady is very well versed in what he teaches, however, he does have a thicker accent that makes it difficult to understand what he is teaching. He is understanding when it comes to asking for extensions for assignments' and tests if you let him know and he will work with you.
Most of the class neglected to even show up due to him mumbling to the board the entire time. Homework needs to be paid for and takes some figuring out, but he gives plenty of extensions (got multiple on the same one). If you're willing to teach yourself this class is doable.
He is a great Professor. The class is a bit challenging due to his strong accent, but you get used to it eventually. If you are ok with being self taught this will be an easy class for you. Homework and tests are all online.
Assigns a lot of homework each week which can be draining, but at least there's no quirky grading practices, convoluted requirements, or ambiguous instructions like with some of the other math professors I've had here. You get one textbook, a bunch of online notes, tips, and videos, and you do the homework and the tests. That's it.
CAUTION! CAUTION! DO NOT take Math with Kitover. You will struggle! I would usually let pass other professors for their accents or ticks but not this time. He is old and maybe at his prime he was competent enough to teach such courses but he is not at all. I thought it wouldn't be that bad considering I did come on here before to check the reviews.
He gives difficult tests, the questions of which do not explain at all how to do. At the lecture, he explains completely different tasks.
please every students don't take math class with him. He never explained any asssignment to students. Students have to do it by yourself. Moreover, his accents is difficult to understand. If you are not good in English, I will recommend to chose new professor.
Though Professor Kitover seems to know what he is teaching, I can assure you that his students do not. Mumbling and having a thick accent isn't something you want in a teacher. If you have questions, better yell it out and expect some attitude from him. He hats when you have questions which is almost impossible to not have because he can't speak.
I can't speak to Dr. Kitover's teaching skills as I took an asynchronous course but he has a great structure to the schedule that enables you to work at your own pace. My only gripe with the course was the instructional videos in the homework modules were almost never in order so it did take some extra work to keep keen. I wish I could give a 3.5.
As someone who took MATH 161 with him online and gotten an A+ there, I decided to take MATH 251 with him again this semester. I'm unsure how it's like taking him in person, but taking his course online isn't that bad. 2 weeks to get videos, one homework and test done. If you are looking to take a math course, you should take his online course.
All of the homework and test assignments are thankfully online. In person, he mumbles and has poor articulation, which—combined with his lack of eye contact—makes lectures hard to follow and frustrating. Getting his attention for a question requires you to practically yell. The communication barriers are significant. I'm sure he's a nice person.
His class isn't that difficult, just busy work. Homework and test ate both is worth 40% of your grade. The final exam is worth 10% of your grade but there is extra credit which is 10% of your grade so it covers the exam and it's a free 1%-10% grade. You do use pearson that you have to pay for to do your work. 50/50 if you'll like his class or not.
