Very easy and very willing to help!! Great class to get into.
She presents the material in a very understandable and manner. Great teacher.
She is the easiest Bio teacher there is. Her tests come straight from the study guide questions. GOOD LUCK!
Great teacher! She's always willing to help. She actually spent 45 minutes just helping me during office hours. Has a real passion for her job. Great class to get into. Bonus points are a nice incentive too.
staright forward. confusing sometimes but good nonetheless.
Excellent teacher. Has lecture notes available online for printing, has sample tests and questions. She does everything and more to make it easy for you to learn the material.
She gives powerpoint presentations with the exact stuff for notes and you just fill in the blanks. Class can get boring but the test come from her study guides and her test are exactly like the study guides. Easy!
Good teacher... easy tests if u know how the listen & study for them... she give just what you need in the end with a little extra to help you grow
Easiest tests I have ever taken. I finished the third one in 12 minutes. Not the most entertaining lecturer but she gets the info across. She has some funky breath though.
As long as you study know all of your notes you will get an A.She's boring though because half the time she doesn't really make sense. All she does is read over the slides...I could teach the class the way she does.It would be more interesting if she would actually teach instead of reading the slides
Study the note .... then you will be fine on the test, everything comes from the note. She gives alot extra points. The class sound hard at first, but her test is easy.
Nice lady but sometimes has a bad attitude. She is rude sometimes when you ask her a question when she assumes you should already know. She is a good teacher, her tests are fair, and she gives extra credit. She just has an attitude problem sometimes and I find that hard to deal with. She is probably the easiest Biology teacher I have had so that does say a little bit about her. She could maybe just lighten up a little bit sometimes.
her notes are easy but her study guide and practice tests are not really that helpful

Her tests are crazy... they cover like 5 chapters which is roughly equal to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. And she laughs as she tells us, " I make these questions to trick you. HAHAHAHAHA." She also informed us that our class average of 62 is a big improvement from the class average of 54 from 10 years ago, when she started teaching the class.

Her tests are kind of confusing. I can know the material pretty well and still not know how to answer the question. The online notes are great though.
She's an ok teacher pay attention to the notes. Boring lectures but I love the extra points!
Super nice lady. You can tell she really loves what she does and that she's very passionate about biology. Most of the pictures she shows in class (that aren't from the book) she's taken herself throughout her travels. Very knowledgeable about biology and really passionate about the environment as well. Tests are easy and lots of bonus points!
she's an awesome teacher!! the notes and practice questions will definitely help on test! and she is always willing to help if you don't understand what's going on!!! THE BEST TEACHER I'VE HAD AT ULL!
Notes off blackboard; Easy to go talk to; BONUS points!!
Best Biology teacher ever. I actually learned when I paid attention. I took 121 with Jeff Spring and I had an F after 2 tests. I made a B in Billocks class. She is a great teacher and very passionate. I highly recommend her. Extra points rock!
i love this lady... i had a C and because of the extra points, i got an A... nice..
She's a nice person, really helpful, definetly enthusiastic about biology. Her test are quite a bit of a challenge. Her bonus points are great!!
her example questions are always on the test. really cool and laid back. i'm a slacker and waited to study the night before every test pretty much and i got an A. it's not an easy class, but it's easy enough. and she gives bonus points which help.
class is hard but the bonus points help! I made a B in the class.
Mrs.Billock makes the class interesting. She does crazy things sometimes, usually on accident. It's hard to teach a class so large but she does a great job. I made an A in her class. Study from the book, practice test AND internet site. She also gives many ex. points if you go to class!!!
She practically gives away extra points that are a big help on your final grade.
bonus points. study guides. practice tests. Easy A
Hard class, very hard tests, but she gives lots of bonus points and good practice tests. I never learned one thing in class, i had to read the book and get other people to help.
Go to class, read the chapters...EASY A!
This class is going to take some effort if you want an A. Only really smart people can say its an "EASY A." But if you work hard, then you will have an A. Her test are very easy if you study the material. They come from the notes and some are application problems, but nothing is really hard if you study. this class is not impossible
First and foremost, take your practice tests. If you miss a day of class you can fill in your notes by the book, however I wouldn't miss the whole semester and only show up for tests because you miss all her extra credit work which really helps.
I hate biology and didn't care so the class was a little difficult, but if you pay attention and go to most of the classes it should be very easy. She basiclly reads the notes off the overhead(which is from the book exactly) and gives LOTS of bonus points for in class quizes(usually 15 points or more before each test).
if you have trouble with biology take this teacher, she gives TONS of bonus points. her tests are difficult but they are straight from the powerpoints. do the practice tests!
She looks like she wants to go on safaris judging by her outfits. Anyway, she gives a lot of bonus points in class every week so that's an incentive to attend regularly. She's very approachable and friendly. Her tests are pretty tough if you only take a glance at the material. You can't simply memorize the material, you need to learn it.
Easy material, tons of bonus points. Just listen to what she repeats a few times in class and you'll know what's on the tests.
This class is harder than Billock's 101 class because it includes tons of processes. However, go to class to get your bonus points. They really make the difference. Study all the diagrams and understand them backwards and forwards. She could give 5 questions on one diagram and if it's the one you don't understand, it really hurts your grade.
You can definetly miss a few days in this class! She does give a good amount of bonus points. I don't use the book much to study but a lot of the questions on the practice exams she puts on moodle are on the tests. I never answer the chapter questions she gives us either.
Class is very easy. I showed up for every class, but it wasn't necessary. I crammed for tests the night before, and got B's. Extra credit was easy and ensured that I had an A in the class. Definitely a must over Krayesky for the easy way out.
She is really nice... i think at times she is confusing the way she teaches BUTTTT OMG anyone should be able to get an A.. she gives soo many extra points
I did so bad in this class, I went to every class and studied and did extra credit but the material was soooo boring to me that I just could not pass.
The class is difficult but she gives alot of bonus points (40 overall). These are given in class so make sure you go. Read the chapters to understand the powerpoints, and fill out the study guides. If you do the work you can pass no problem, but don't even THINK about slacking off in this class.
She gives about 10 extra points for every test you take. Her test are ok. they are not the easiest but they are not impossible. But u do have to study. U defiantly can miss class and still be caught up. But she normally doesn't tell you when extra credit will be given!
She gives a ton of extra points that will bring any grade up! If you pay attention and study the practice tests, you'll do fine.
Gives extra credit but doesn't make up for the hard test. Better study really hard and have all extra credit to make a C or better.
Ms. Billock is very helpful, you really feel she wants everyone to do well in her class
4 tests. 40 extra points. (10/test) Hard to study for her tests b/c her test ?s aren't really like her notes. She does give study ?s and hold a few study sessions. I went to everything she offered and I still make bad grades on the tests. My grades so far have been: F and 2C's. I am passing on extra credit alone. Not easy and I wouldn't take again!
Not an easy class, but if you pay attention and study. You should be fine. If you have trouble with any of her classes, she's one of the most helpful professors around.
AWESOME teacher...extremely recommend.Extremely helpful and gives bonus points. Although attendance isn't required, it is beneficial to go so that you can get the bonus points (a total of 40 at the end of the semester). You have to put the time in if you want to do well, study the questions she gives and READ THE BOOK! She's the best!
you need to read the book to fully understand. she lets you check for mistakes on your test. fairly easy class, just have to do the work.
Very nice teacher helps whenever needed. Go to class and get the extra points..40 total. Test are hard if you wait to study last minute, all powerpoint notes. I would take her again
It was hard. I don't know anything about Bio. but I had to take it. She's a great teacher. I still did horrible and I went to every class, made notecards, and paid strict attention. Not good for people who suck at Bio.
Easiet Frickin teacher in the biology department. Test are a little rought if you wait til the last minute, but go to class and study the notes and you will do fine. gives a truckj load of extra points if needed!!
Prof. Billock is a sweet lady! She gives four tests and 40 points of extra credit. I thought she taught the class well and was very intelligent. She was very willing to help. However, it is not an easy class. YOU MUST STUDY! The tests are difficult. ANSWER the questions she posts online. They are extremely helpful. Also, read the chapters!
The class was very challenging, you must study way before the test and READ THE CHAPTERS..most of the answers for the test are not in her notes.. i found the slides to be very useless. She is a very nice person and gives lots of bonus which helps your grade! Always go on fridays.. thats when most of the bonus are
HELPED ME SALVAGE MY SEMESTER AND LEARN WHAT I COULD FROM THE MATERIAL. WONDERFUL PROF!!!
gives many extra points
STUDY!!! If you don't study for tests you will FAIL! The tests are not too difficult if you study but sometimes questions are confusing. She lets you drop one of the 4 test or the final. Final is comprehensive. I suggest going to class and reading the book and studying every night... not the night before the test.
Ms. Billock is a very nice woman and is willing to help if you ask for it. Her class is more of listening and working on your own. I don't like her teaching style, and despite her being notorious for giving bonus points, she no longer does that. SO be cautions
Mrs. Billock class is difficult, though I've heard she is the easiest of all the biology teachers. Her teaching is bland and dull. Her notes are useless. They are basically a general outline. Study more from the book. Her test are difficult and you will have to study for them. She seemed very approachable and actually nice. No bonus points though
Listening to her lecture did me no good. I read the chapters to learn the information. Study a lot for the test. They are knowing how the different systems work, not definitions. They are hard, but it's biology it's supposed to be. Gave 15 bonus points the whole semester. She curved on tests. You must read the chapters multiple times!
It's not that she is a bad teacher or anything it's just that the class itself is really tough and there is a lot of information to absorb with each test. Gave 15 bonus points which helps a lot. I didn't read the book, she gives study guides. I missed class a few times and because of that i made a 48 on the test so go to class!
She is a very tough professor & i made D's on most of my tests except the last one which i made a C on.. come to find out.. i made a B in that class..She gives lots of bonuses & curves all grades! i wouldve taken her again but i cant wake up at 8 in the morning for her bio 111 class lol!
Many people had told me this class would be an easy A and it wasn't.. you do have to study a lot but everything comes from the book.. gives random quizzes that go toward your grade..kinda boring and just reads from the slides and doesn't really know how to pronounce most of the words! But if you study you really do learn a lot!
i took this class, it was my first bio so i had a really hard time adjusting. I went to every study group (that helped me alot!) Reading the book did not help me, her tests are very tricky I failed the first one and passed only one test with an A and ended up w/ a B in the class.. she gave 15 pt bonus the whole semester and only curved one test!
VERY HARD! I think she tends to forget that 110 is a beginning Biology. She teaches it like we already know all the terms and understand all the fundamentals prior to this class. I even tried emailing her to ask for help. She was very rude and just told me to drop the class if I'm having trouble...so I do! :/
I've taken her two semesters in a row. I've found that her class isnt the easiest but if you read the chapters and answer all the questions she gives you, you shouldn't make lower than a B. It is very time consuming but worth it!
I am a dietetics major and this is by far the hardest class i've ever taken. She's willing to help you but you can't pass these tests. Good luck
A little disorganized.
A good teacher! If you show up to class everyday and pay attention to the lecture and take your notes then you will do fine! USE YOUR BOOK WHEN YOU ARE STUDYING!!! dont' just study the notes! study the information that you get in the notes in your book! know the diagrams and how they work and the parts b/c it helps!! She is very helpful! all you ha
study study an go to class
She just reads everything that is on her slides and doesn't give too much extra details. She sometimes doesn't know the answers to her own questions she asks on chapter questions. I rarely studied and got a C. However, if you study your notes and answer the chapter questions you would probably do good. Decent teacher for a Biology 110 class.
This class is really easy if you attend class. (Something I didn't do hence I made a 72) She posts notes online, but they have blanks! Go to class, fill in those blanks , and I don't see you struggling.
This class was somewhat difficult. It is very hard to pay attention in a 300+ class, so we had to practically teach ourselves the lessons. Read the book when studying and go to class because she gives a decent amount of bonus points.
She appears to be a very nice older woman...but when you go to her office for help she comes off as very rude. She is a okay teacher though just good to her classes and study and you should do find.
She confuses herself and reads word for word off of the slides. The class is really boring and you have to teach yourself the material. One of the only good things is that you dont have to take the final if you are satisfied with your grade, but if you arent, the final is pretty hard.
Good teacher but does not explain the material very well. her test are hard and most of the questions do not come from the notes. YOU MUST BUY THE BOOK. Gives bonus points.
VERY hard class do not take if you do not have to... Barely passed by 1/10th of a point.. Don't bother going talk to her in her office your just waisting your time shes quite rude
She's not hard at all. She reads straight from the slides BUT she will explain if you ask questions. After the third test I stopped going to class and taught myself from the slides she posts. I pulled off a B expecting a C so I assume she has a very big curve. Gives a few bonus points. She's pretty legit.
She is a wonderful professor who is willing to answer your questions. She is easy if you study, READ THE BOOK AND SLIDES! study hard and you will do great! But she is sweet and will do as best she can to teach you the material!
all notes are powerpoint.... make sure you do study guides as she will pull questions for the tests..... study in depth...go over tests since she tends to make comprehension mistakes that could turn into points for everybody
Read rate this professor so I took her class. BIG MISTAKE! I know nothing about biology and it was a miracle I got a C. I'm pretty smart filled out all my slides, studied for HOURS and read the book. NO use. I'm an A student and couldn't pass. DON'T TAKE HER! If biology isn't your thing don't take her! you will regret it!
the class in general is a very hard class but she is one of the few biology teachers that actually care and will take time to help you...def recommend her if you have to take this class!
She contradicts herself A LOT so unless you really know the material. Go to class, fill in the blanks, and READ THE BOOK. This is not a cramming class. You need to study everyday which should not be a problem if you care.
VERY HARD CLASS! Just going to class will NOT cut it! Be prepared to study all of the time! Billock is OK teacher.
Great class and great teacher. Gives slides with incomplete notes, so you have to go to class to fill in the blanks. Tests do cover a lot of information, but most of it is pretty general. The lab is pretty easy too. You just look at parasites and various facts about them. Very good elective/ systematics class for biology majors.
Great teacher you just need to put the time in an study and read the book!! she is helpful and if you go to class and get the clicker points you could get 50 extra points!!
Simple class, only the really dull people can complain about her. She gives you a 50/0, 50 bonus points for just going to class! Tests are consistent with the power points, and the book is a great study helper. I made a perfect score in the class even though I made B's on most of the tests. Take her! Easy A, you can learn a lot!
Made a C on my first test because i was overwhelmed, but an A on all the rest including the class! she gives you 50 extra credit points if u attend class and use the iclickers! highly recommend her
She's not an easy A but if you are willing to study EVERYDAY you will be ok. Bring your iclickers to class to get extra points!
She is NOT an easy A, YOU HAVE TO STUDY!! But take it from a person who hated science. I passed. So anyone can.
Awesome Teacher. Study power points and read chapter and guaranteed to come out with an A. She gives a lot of bonus points, which helps out a lot. Makes the class interesting. Easy class. Definitely recommend her!!
She is a very good teacher. The class requires that you study alot and you have to in order to pass. She is very helpful and tries to make sure you understand that material. There are lots of bonus points, so if you fail a test, you are not necessarily going to fail a class. Definitely take her!
She is GREAT. I enjoy he class. she is helpful and tries to make sure you understand. If you have any questions she is glad to answer. she just words he questions weird.
Take her!
NICE LADY, SHE DOES NOT PUT UP WITH STUDENTS TALKING AND DISTRUPTING HER CLASS, WHICH IS WONDERFUL. READ AND STUDY THE CHAPTER AND YOU WILL ACE THIS CLASS. GIVES PLENTY OF EXTRA POINTS.
GREAT TEACHER. WE USED iCLICKERS THIS SEMESTER WHICH LED TO EXTRA POINTS (POSSIBLE 50+ POINTS) SO ATTENDANCE IS ENCOURAGED. USES POWERPOINTS SO KNOW THEM AND YOU WILL DO FINE SINCE ALL TESTS COME DIRECTLY FROM THEM. VERY PATIENT AND CLEAR PROFESSOR AND ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH ANY ISSUES THEY MAY BE HAVING.
Interesting class but covers a lot of parasites.
VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD...MATERIAL REQUIRES STUDYING BECAUSE IT IS A LOT AND ALSO SHOULD GO TO CLASS...IF YOU GO TO CLASS AND REVIEW THE POWERPTS EASY CLASS TO TAKE FOR A UPPER LEVEL CREDIT
Great Professor, I learned alot
TAKE HER! She's the best and easiest biology 110 teacher at UL. I didn't attend any classes unless it was an exam day and I passed every test with a B or higher. All the info on the test is derived from her powerpoints.
TAKE HER!!!! Best BIO 110 teacher at ULL. Her tests are pretty straight forward and class is not mandatory. I studied straight from her powerpoints and read the chapters in the book. Aced her class! And her final is NOT comprehensive compared to the other bio teachers!
Take her for bio 110. I made a B hoping for an A. I studied a good bit for all her tests. As long as you study by reading her notes and the chapters, you should make an A or B. Going to class does help a lot even though it is not mandatory.
I showed up 75% of the time, did all of the online homework/quizzes, and failed 2 of the 4 tests yet still finished with a B in the class. She's the best of the biology teachers for the course. I definitely learned a lot.
Mrs. Billock is awesome. She takes attendance and gives points for case studies and papers. She is so nice, and her tests are really easy. I knew nothing about endo before this class, and I feel like I learned so much! It was a very intersting class, though sometimes her lectures can get boring. Made an A. Love her.
As long as you study a little bit and somewhat go to class, it's not too hard.
She tries to trick you in the tests. I did all of the study questions and read the chapters and am still not doing well in the class. I asked her for help and she was nice about it but didnt really offer help.
This class isn't to difficult but it is challenging. If your looking for an easy A this is not the lady to take. The test are hard but passable. Shes a good professor and she knows what shes talking about, and she is very helpful.
Mrs.Billock is a good teacher, she gives good examples and extra credit.
Very confusing, notes and study guides did not help. She tries to trick you on tests and words the question in an awkward way to where you do not know what it is really asking. She doesn't speak very clearly. I had a hard time understanding her. When asking her a question, she never really directly answers the question or seems to know how.
Do not take this class with other hard classes,it requires a lot of studying. Tests are very tricky because a lot of words tend to have different names.
I can't really say that she wasn't helpful or was helpful because I never went to office hours. You have to read the book and not rely on her lecture because it touches the surface. Attendance is not mandatory but she either does an online quiz or homework due next class that counts as attendance!
Not saying this class is exactly easy, but if you go to every class, listen, read and COMPREHEND each chapter, you'll do fine. Work hard and it pays off, I finished with an above 100 average. She gives lots of extra credit. Go to class, read the chapters, set time aside and study ahead If you do this class will be a breeze and you'll learn a lot.
Not a bad teacher at all. Pay attention and comprehend the material and you should do fine. STUDY. she gives extra credit sometime, test are kind of tricky, need critical thinkings, (like A,B,and C will all be correct but B will be more correct) kind of questions. noticed she does use questions from old test. just go to class and study
The class isn't as bad as everyone says. I went to class and STUDY a lot and I got an A. You can't wait until the day before the test to study because it is way too much information.
STUDY STUDY STUDY weeks in advance. You will make an A!
Literally the best biology professor I've had at UL so far. She makes it very clear that her class is not easy. But if you work hard enough you can definitely get an A. I mean come on, it's college! It's BIOLOGY! You pay for your education. Work for the grade you want.
Biology is hard no matter who you take, but I would recommend her.
I am honestly losing hope in being a Doctor. Honestly if you ask questions, she will answer clearly with no hesitation. No one said college would be easy. As a biology major I am having a hard time. I am trying my best but I do not understand her tests !!!! I can BARELY piece it together with what she teaches us. It doesn't add up. F so far.
I went to every class and was able to comprehend most of everything she said, but sometimes she would fly through chapters. You will have to go home and readskim the book.
Ok, I hate to be the person that writes a bad review about Billock, but it needs to be done. She frequently mispronounces words and doesn't know the material well. Her tests are confusing. To prove she doesn't know the material, if the answers aren't already on her powerpoint, she literally does not know them. Easy teacher but not a good one..
At the beginning of the semester I went to every class just because I didn't know what to expect for her test. I studied my butt off and made an A. I stopped going to her class and just studied straight from the book and passed with an A. You just have to really work for the grade you want. Don't trust her powerpoints cause theres more info on test
Make sure you read the chapters and go over the notes before the class. She doesn't go into detail as much as she should, so it would be best to study with a group or go to SI sometimes. She'll tell you what's on her test and they are pretty broad and basic. You'll need a clicker and she does participation from that for the first half of the year.
Great in the beginning but gave up on being thorough halfway through the semester; stopped filling in the powerpoint notes. When she did they were incorrect and I had to use my book to go over and fix them. Very bad attitude and does not care about you or your grades, even if you go to her office hours for help. Memorize the book and you'll do good
tests comes from the text bookpwpts. GO TO "SI SESSIONS"- they help. I earned a 100% in her class bc of 20pt bonus assignment she gave &.lots of studying. easy if you study. PS-hopefully ur class is respectful bc mine laughed while she was coughing one day&she walked out 20 min into a 120 min class. she demands respect by her students
Billock is a good teacher but she can be confusing. She mispronounces words alot and we laugh at her alot but she will and has walked out of her class before (go 2:00 class!). She's a reasonable person if you can talk to her about it. Must have book and must study. Her tests comes from the book, the powerpoint really just skims alot of things.
She is AMAZING. All the other teachers are way harder. Definitely take her if you have the chance.
Tough grader wouldn't bump up your grade no matter how much you tried. I ended with an 89.4 B
She was an overall good teacher. You just have to make sure to go to class, study her powerpoints, and if you put in the work it's easy to make an A.
Overall, the class was pretty easy. Have to study in the textbook and her power points.
I took this class twice. I dropped it the first time because I was failing, but when I took her again, I realized it wasn't that hard like I thought it was. You do HAVE to study if you want to pass. She's very helpful, so go ask her any questions you have. Overall great class. Just study the powerpoints and you will be fine. Never opened the book.
Dr. Billock is really willing to help her students pass. Make sure to look over all material she gives. That includes quizzes and handouts. Reading the chapters in the book is a lifesaver. She gives a huge amount of extra points. The class really wasn't that difficult. It was slightly time consuming though.
Billock isnt perfect, but shes the best teacher that you'll get for this class. I took her freshman year and managed to get an A in the class. It wasnt hard but its not an easy A. You definitely dont need the book, the gives your powerpoints and practice tests. I definitely reccommend.
I took Fall 2014. Okay class, a lot of material shoved down your throat. Tests were challenging required you to think. Moodle quizzes cushion grade. Pre print the powerpoints, class consists of going over powerpoints and filling in blanks. Huge class, I took Fall 2014. Okay class, a lot o sitting at the front because it's harder to hear at the top.
I never attended class. She puts the power points online so I just made flash cards of EVERY single slide. I made A's on every single test. You don't need the book I didn't use it once. Get a copy of old tests they're all practically the same.
Not the best. Class is hard. She doesn't help students that much. Pass on this professor. Take Sherry Krayesky instead. At least she makes you laugh in her class
