I really liked taking Dr. Catterson's class. I've taken basic Psych classes before and this class was definitely different. He really encouraged discussions which I liked, and was able to calm everyone down before things got too heated. Kind of wished we had some kind of textbook, but me and my study group got along fine.

Had him for Intro to Psych and he is a really good instructor. We didn't have a book but he did give us handouts to read and respond to in class. Lots of reading online but interesting topics. Just answer a few questions and submit. Good discussions during class and he throws in a couple of videos from time to time. Study for exams though!

Amazing professor. Had him for Psych 101 & it was easy, fun & one of the best psych classes I've taken. He's a funny guy, very understanding, truly cares about his students. The class itself is very easy. There's lots of pair/group discussions but all really interesting topics based off lectures. I recommend him if you have the chance to take him!

Lectures are recorded/posted on canvas so you can skip class and watch it from home. Only 1 or 2 quizzes, but they are questions you should know because he goes over them in lecture. Pay attention in lecture & you should pass with an A easily. He grades homework by completion not correctness! NO TEXTBOOK & random extra credit for participation

Daily check ins graded for completion but used to know what to review. A few quizzes most questions taken straight from previous lectures. Midterm you are allowed one regular sized paper handwritten notes, and the final you are allowed both sides and can reuse the same cheat sheet. DO the readings. Many questions are from lecture and readings.

A great professor!!! Enjoyed his class so much. Got a little frustrated with him because of the way he graded slow but his class and lectures are very easy. Just make sure to do the readings. If you choose to get him youll be very lucky!

Professor Catterson was awesome! Great teacher and an even greater person. He was always accessible outside of class and went out of his way to make sure that you would succeed. HIGHLY suggest that you go to his office hours whenever you need help; doing so helped my grade quite a bit. 3 or 4 quizzes (drops lowest one), midterm, and final!

Dr. C was easily my favorite professor at DVC. Though the course was homework heavy, he provides great feedback and was a relatively easy grader. Provides plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Very accessible out of class and quick to respond to emails and questions. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Dr. C is the coolest teacher ever, my favorite teacher. I love coming to his class, he is always making everybody laugh. He is super funny, teaches very well, makes the material a bit easier (material is hard honestly). He lets you use one page of notes for the test. He is very accesible outside class. I am glad that I took his class!

Research methods in general is a really boring dry class. I had taken it before and dropped it but with Catterson it's a piece of cake! He really knows how to engage the class and keep tasks like reading research papers fun and interesting. He also genuine cares about his students. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Professor Catterson is so funny and is overall a wonderful teacher. If anyone is wanting/ needing to take psych take this class!! Lectures and then two homework assignments due on Sundays which aren't hard at all. He is a very easy grader but also makes his lectures very interesting and relevant.

Prof Catterson is honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. You just can't help but love him after getting to know him. He's got such a unique personality and he truly cares about his students. If you go to class you'll do great! There's one big project for this class that we work on each week so by the end of the semester it's a breeze!

Catterson has been one of the best Psych teachers DVC has. He is very respectful of people's idea, yet also tries to pushes them to think more critically. Fairly easy grader, yet the more you put into his class, the more an individual gets out of it. Although most of it is lecture, he does have us get into groups or pair up sometimes.

Arman is awesome!! The classes are actually fun and there's a lot of interesting discussions in there. Probably the chillest teacher I've ever had. There are two online homework assignments every week, which will tank your grade if you miss them. The midterm is super easy, especially with the whole sheet of notes you're allowed. Highly recommend!!

Super chill, really gets you interested in the subject, pretty funny guy. Quizzes once a week, you take them on your phone. No homework. 4 tests, as long as you pay attention and take notes, youll pass. Presentation at the end of semester.

Dr. Catterson is a awesome psychology professor. His class is designed to help students pass the class, he does not overload students with readings and homework. There is no textbook required for his psych 101 class!! Dr. Catterson's a super chill guy! He was definitely one of the best professors I've come across, would recommend taking his class.

Took his psych 101 class my first semester of college, I'm now in my 3rd semester and he's the best professor I've had so far. He explains psych concepts in a super easy to understand way, and his tests are exactly like his lectures. As long as you show up to class and do the hw, it'll be very difficult not to pass.

I LOVED HIS CLASS. If you plan on transferring to a UC and doing undergraduate research, take this class with Catterson. I learned so much and he was a fair grader. For the research essay, just go to his office hours and have him look over it and you'll be fine. This was one of my favorite classes at DVC.

If you hate reading out of a textbook, don't worry. Everything you need to know is in lecture. If you miss lecture let him know and he'll give you a review. In-class reviews before quizzes, study guides for tests, extra credit... Pretty much everything you need from a professor.

Prof Catterson could make any class interesting. All you have to do it show up, pay attention, and show that youre invested and youll do fine. He hands out packets of the lectures each week which you can then use on the quizzes which is a god send. He creates inside jokes with the class and makes you want to pay attention. 10/10 recommend

An incredibly chill guy when it came to assignments and testing. Would post lecture recordings and notes online, although the former can be unreliable. That said, lectures are interesting and easy to follow. Textbook provided but unnecessary. Remarkably supportive and inclusive, especially if you bring up any of your concerns or issues with him.

Best psych teacher I have had so far. Interesting lectures, funny, and utilizes the internet more than any other professor. Everything is on canvas and every class he has a review that you use with your smart phone. Definitely enjoys his job and doesn't really maintain a hierarchy between the student and the teacher which is refreshing.

I took his online Psych-101 class, and it was really enjoyable for me. No textbooks, he made written lecture documents & lecture videos. All the information was elaborated in a way that was easy to understand. His grading criteria is clear and he's extremely lenient on late work. Overall a chill, caring, and intelligent dude. Easy A, just try.

Prof Catterson was a great teacher! He was informative and fair. His Psych101 class is heavy in lecture videos and reading (usually 15-20 pages + videos), so there is a lot of homework. But it is important to note that the lectures were usually very interesting and funny at times! Great class, great teacher. Made psych fun for a non-psych major.

I took his class online and he makes the material easy to understand and enjoyable. He condenses the material as much as possible and provides informative and slightly entertaining videos to explain them. Hes also extremely understanding and has humorous side-comments on his notes.

This class was hands down the BEST class that I have taken at dvc. I took this during the time of the lock down and he handled the situation very well. Easy grader, quizzes are open note, and a VERY CHILL FINAL. Anything above an 85% is considered an A in his class. And to top it off despite what you think you actually learn a lot in his class!

My favorite professor during my entire college experience. His lectures are amazing and he truly is an amazing person. Highly recommend, its not a lot of work and is a ton of fun.

Professor Catterson meets students where they are coming from and does NOT gaslight your experience, which is so appreciated in a field as personal as psychology. I actually did not realize I was going above and beyond in his class because I was so intrigued by the material; that is a testament to his class feeling like a space for growth and fun.

Very Easy A honestly. As long as you do the work and not let it pile up till the last day of the semester, you'll be chillin. He gives you until the last day of school to finish all the work, which is great, but don't let it pile up because it will turn into a nightmare! Lots of reading but you can honestly skim them and still pass the quizzes.

Professor Catterson is one of my favorite professors. He gives amazing, thoughtful feedback and genuinely cares about his students even in an online setting. The class was nonsynchronous, but the assignments were interactive. You had to read the material, answer questions, and click on links to get credit. Professor Catterson respected my opinions, and we would debate through email. I turned in my final presentation with 3 minutes to spare. My topic was procrastination, and I got an A.

A top professor at DVC. He knows how to teach a course and does it extremely well online. An A is 85%, and a B is 70%. It is an extremely easy class to get an A in especially because he is very kind and lenient on grading. As long as you do your work and ask for help and understand the basic material, you will do well.

One of my favorite professors at DVC. He is very very understanding, extremely thoughtful and considerate of his students lives inside and outside of the classroom. He understands that we have a life outside of class, and genuinely is a very good teacher.

A legendary professor. There is literally only one exam and it is a take home exam that you have a month to complete. He responds to emails quickly. There are no deadlines/penalties for turning stuff in late. Definitely take his class!!!

If I could take one of his courses again I would! I am almost finished with the semester and I have had a great experience from his class. This course was 100% online but with how he designs his lectures, it felt like I was learning in person. His notes are great, his video lectures are so helpful and he does catch up weeks! He is a very thoughtful and intelligent man and it shows in his lectures. 85% and above is considered an A in his class. Also he doesn't doc you points for submitting assignments late. Mr. Catterson is a great psych professor. I attended his online course in 2022 and enjoyed it thoroughly. We covered interesting topics in lecture from Pavlov's Dogs to The Milgram Experiment. There was a writing assignment and quiz each week, but they were both open note making the course fun and interesting.

He gives amazing lectures AND notes to them. I like the lecture check ins because it helps me review what I had just read. 10/10 would take a course from him again.

I really liked his online way of teaching. He makes his own lectures videos and pdf's and we have quiz and reflections discussion on the topics of the readings each week. Not too hard if you read the pdfs and watch his videos. I sometimes forgot to do some part of the discussions and I asked him if I could make it up, he would let me Very nice prof

He's honestly an amazing professor. You can tell he truly cares about teaching his students. When he sees his students understand the material and succeed, he genuinely gets really happy. I highly recommend taking a class with him, he made this semester more enjoyable for me. Great and respectable guy.

Dr. Catterson is very intelligent and has a strong passion in Psychology. I loved Dr. Catterson so much. This was one of the easiest classes that I've taken at DVC. Just one final project video presentation and no other challenging assignments. 3 attempts for open book and untimed quizzes, 85% and above for an A, and only 50% and above for a C.

He is one of the most understanding professors I know and he was always really excited to teach the class. He has a big passion for teaching his students and it definitely feels more like a classmate explaining to you his work and is very casual. Would definitely recommend the class if you get test anxiety too.

Grading is very fair in this class too. Communication with him goes a long way, he always tries to work with you if possible. We need more professors like him.

I love this prof so much!!! Ive taken two of his online courses so far, he is super understanding and helpful and only wants to see his students succeed. His online courses are super organized and easy to follow he makes it super easy to find all the information you would need as he puts it on weekly lecture documents.

He is a very caring and understanding professor. He gives very helpful feedback. Be ready to read a lot, but it's an interesting material.

One of the best professors I have ever had! He has a chill late policy and understands that students have lives outside of class that may take priority over classwork. He really cares about his students and will help you if you ask him to. His classes are an easy A as long as you do the work and follow his rubrics.

You can tell the way he lectures, and the way he creates his online work, he really works hard to demystify this subject, which many find difficult. If you are willing to be open to taking this course, I highly recommend you take stats from him if you can. + Communicate often!

I literally loved this professor so much. Catterson is incredibly chill but also cares about you and your learning. He's incredibly insightful and is great at relating the material to real world stuff. He also is just funny during lecture, and super understanding of any setbacks that students might have. Just keep on top of the work and youre good.

Take this class. He was the best you can imagine and yes although his class takes time to do, you learn the material and have fun while doing it. His assignment are a weekly discussion board and he responds to each and every student and interacts with their work. His class was what I looked forward to every week and would recommend!

Catterson changed my life, no joke. I was a Computer Science major, and took this course for fun. I am now transferring to UC Berkeley majoring in Psychology. He was inspirational in and out the classroom, if you are wrong, he will respectfully guide you to the right answer. He breaks difficult to grasp concepts to easy to understand portions.11/10

Amazing! Very easy grader. Took him for summer, 2 open note quizzes a week you can retake 3 times, discussion boards where you use lectures to real life (you can trauma dump on them), lectures are a lot of reading but he makes everything very interesting. Please take him !
