Great teacher!

Really easy professor. Gave an A to almost everybody. Doesn't take attendance, and homework was really not that much, every few weeks. Chill guy! Super Easy A. This is for Slackers :D

Nicest Professor ever, really. He gives practice exams and quizzes. If you understand those, you'll be fine on the actual ones. He is a little difficult to understand at first. But he is very patient and will clarify anything IF YOU ASK. Participating in class will go a long way in this class. Recommend if you need a science with a lab requirement.

He is the best teacher i have ever see in SMC. He is a super nice guy. At beginning, you might it is hard, later, you will feel better. He is really helpful. Go to class and ask question you will be fine. i am international student,i get A for the class.

A true caring professor. He really prepares you for midterm, quizes, and the final by giving a practice exam with solutions and even goes over questions that people still are iffy about. He is a Nice, Caring professor. He was always willing to answer questions. Even met with me for a few hours to work on a single problem which I couldn't solve. He gives a lot of practice quizzes and tests. I HIGHLY recommend that you read the book before the lecture to understand physics and his lectures will then supplement, review, and clarify.

(Same reviewer as below.) The subject is difficult, but I think he made it approachable, if you put in the effort and a lot of time. I never had physics before, so it was quite new and difficult to adjust and accept, but it is possible. Wish you all the best, definitely TAKE him. I plan to take him again for the next series. And do study groups!

Professor Kocharian made sure any and all questions were answered. He had a well organized lesson plan with lectures that supplemented the textbook very well. He made sure to give plenty of practice problems before the quizzes/ exams so nothing was a surprise; no trick questions. Everything in the exams were covered in the HW and in the lectures.

He is a very nice professor, you will get practice quizzes, mid-terms and final before they start. Before he moves to next topic, he make sure every body understand the chapter. take him if you can. Physics 21 is not a easy subject, make sure you form group study and do put extra time to do home work. Highly recommended professor! Good Luck!

Prof. is nice and fair to the class in terms of tests and quizzes. gives review quizzes and tests that are fairly similar to the actual tests/quizzes. Studying hard is a must for this class, don't fall behind and do as many examples as you can, over and over again. He takes some time to get used to but overall good teacher.

If you do his web assignment, practice tests and quizes,99% you will be fine.He 1st let students to solve z prblems in z classroom & he'll do any questions that are not solved.He also discribe very well z practice quizes & tests.He's really devoted to help students & he knows z material very well.He tought me phyiscs 21 & I'm also taking him for P

Professor Kocharian was extremely helpful. I am a Business major who only took the class for general education requirement purposes. This professor understands that Physics 14 is a course for beginners and teaches us accordingly. He understands and loves the subject. Labs are a delight and tests are fairly easy as long as you pay attention.

This was the BEST physics class ever and prof. Kocharian is on the BEST physics professor at SMC. The notes, lecture and quizzes were really helpful for the exams. This was my third physics class at SMC, and the only class where I actually learned some physics. I will highly recommend to take a class with this professor.

This is my 2nd class with this professor, also refer to my previous review from 6/10/10. I highly recommend him, he is a very nice guy,& is willing to help everyone. He does several things notes, lab, activity, practice problems, etc. Do study groups and WORK HARD! I recommended him to all my friends! Eng. majors buy another phys book.Good luck. :)

The best in SMC!! Don't believe last review. He knows how to teach. He gave us a lot of help for preparing the tests like quizzes and reviews. He tried to use easy words to explain. If you attend class and listen what he's saying, you will enjoy it and get an "A" easily. The best thing is he cares his student!!! he is really really kind. Take him!!

I've never seen teacher like kocharan. he communicate every student who has a problem with anything. To prepare quizzes and tests, you have to attend class and be focused on what he says. He gives us quizzes, homeworks, practice quizzes, and reviews for tests. It helps to prepare the tests. He is very kind! Feel free to ask anything to him!!

Physics is hard subject.But he explains physics in a simple way than text book. I learn best under Professor Kocharian?s instruction and lecture style. I am deeply impressed by his enthusiasm of physics. After I took this class, I cleared out a lot of misconceptions about physics. His lecture not only helped to clarify ideas from the text, but also build up hands-on experience through lab activities.

Professor Kocharian is the BEST! He encourages his students to participate in class so that he can solve their questionnaires. He also clearly stated and emphasized the main points of course materials. In most of the exam questions, they mostly related to course works and textbook that studying is really necessary for this course.Go take his class!

This is very valuable class especially for people who don't have science background in the past. Professor Kocharian will teach the concept of Physics, and you will definitely learn a lot from the class. Someone mentioned about his accent, but I don't think it's a big deal. You won't have problem to understand his lectures. It's worth to take it.

It's a great deal to positively read the textbook before going to class and ask questions. Professor is always be there for you and everyone should take this advantage. I listened to this class during the winter semester. We took 10 Quizzes and 2 midterm and 1 final test. He is very caring and generous. His lectures are enthusiastic and helpful. I will recommend this course.

He is definitely passionate about what he teaches and able to explain every concepts logical and clear. Always eager to show us new concepts by performing a simple experiment. U can do better as long as you attend the class and work on the exercises he gives.

Love this professor so much. Super helpful and nice professor, learn a lot on his class. He would really love to help you if you got some questions about Physics. I didn't like his style of teaching based on the tutorials (taking too much time for a 6 week class.However,he is a really nice professor and tries his best to make students understand the subject.Pretty lenient too on the grading. Overall, take him for Phys21 and do not be shy if you don't understand. Talk to him personally!

I cannot emphasize enough how awesome Professor he is! His lectures are clear and easy to understand, but you may want to read the materials ahead of time. Although his quizzes are easy, his exams are not that easy, so do all your online HW + some other hard questions in the text to prepare yourself for it! Overall, it was fun and pleasing class.

He is knowledgeable, patient and very approachable...if you don't get a subject, you ask as many questions as you want and he will not frown! Professor Kocharian is a very good professor. His lecture is clear and the examples are related to real-life. Attendance are mandatory, make sure be on time. in the winter section, there are multiple quiz, one midterm and one final. All the quiz and test are similar to the study guide he gave us, which make the quiz a lot easier.

His assistance is over the top. He has a lot of practice work before the actual quiz or midterm. Physics does require work. Just finished his class and I would take it again. Professor Tocharian is one of the best professors I've had at SMC. He is one of the most caring professors I've had here. He may not be an easy teacher, but he is more that willing to help you succeed, gives practice quizzes, and sometimes practice tests. Labs can be tedious, but you'll get through it. With that being said, you'll have so much fun!

Dr. Kocharian Is a respectable educator. He makes you work for the grade you want. He helps you become a better thinker. Like any science class, he is heavy in concepts but once you understand the concept you will do well in any classes. Although, mastering physics is not our favorite it is helpful. An "A" in Dr. Kocharian's class is well worth it.

Lectures were very interesting . Many quizzes but he gives you practice quizzes so you know how and what to expect in difficulty. You will work in groups a lot so this is a group effort class. Many handouts to help you learn the material. Exams are mediocre hard except with final which is much harder. If struggling, he will find a way to help you.

I had professor Kocharian for physics 9. A must take instructor if you like to learn physics deeply not just for passing it. He makes you search, learn and study physics conceptually. The most talented, knowledgeable instructor that I have. This class is for whom they love to learn physics conceptually not superficially. If you take him you would not regret it if you work for it. Kocharian is great. His accent is pretty thick, which is hard for some but I didn't mind it. If you want an easy A, take him. If you truly want to learn physics because you're a STEM major, take someone who will actually teach. Lectures: reads through slides. Exams: very easy (MP). Quizzes: very easy (MP). HW: Doable. Labs: easy. Grading: Lenient.

I took Professor Kocharians Physics 22 class during COVID Fall 2020 and he was great! He worked at a reasonable pace and made sure that his students really understood the material. Outside class, he is caring and really wants his students to succeed. 10/10 rating for me and highly recommended!

Professor Kocharian is patient, funny, and cares about his students. He assigns a lot of homework and there are weekly quizzes but he is flexible if it gets to be too much. Quizzes and exams were fair, no surprise questions. Lectures are thorough with demonstrations and there is plenty of time to ask clarifying questions on lab days.

Biggest takeaway is that Professor Kocharian would benefit GREATLY from a TA, but that isn't going to happen at a community college. He simply assigns too much material for him to handle alone. He's not the most tech savvy, but he genuinely tries his best to work with his students. It's a shame b/c it gets in the way of an otherwise good class.

Professor is very helpful with deadlines and with allowing students to do mastering homework assignments or any other assignment really if there's an emergency. Dr. Kocharian is an amazing person and he tries his best, he teaches the class with his slides, tutorials, lab demonstrations which helps for understanding.He really cares about the students and is fair with grading. 100% recommend Dr Kocharian if you want easy A. He even gave students second chance to take midterm "take home" because everyone screwed. Even though those homeworks are painful, he reduced some of the chapter and questions at the end of the semester. Class organization is a bit confusing but don't worry about it too much. Exceptionally qualified, He's a very legitimate research physicist with many high level publications. Family circumstances caused me to fall behind and he was generous allowing many chances to catch up. Stay on top of HW, it pile's up. Very generous as long as you show effort. Knowing some Vector Calculus is key to deeply understanding concepts.
