I like Armin a lot. He is nice and help you even in class and outside. He explains carefully if there are hard topic that you can not understand. I hope he teaching Anatomy and Microbiology because I want to take more classes with him.
Armin is good teacher, very helpful, he has passion when teaching but his presentation is not so good. Anyway, he updates online materials too late while students have to submit within the next 1-2 days. Should study by yourself, coming class isn't necessary, but need to read book to do best on quizzes and exam, there is a little tricky!
Armin is a really nice person, and a great teacher! he always makes sure to answer all your questions, hes willing to spend his time after the class to answers questions. 1 thing I dont like about him is his tests, they are hard! but anyway, overall hes a great teacher and I would like to take his class again.
3 hard exams, lab papers r not helpful and his quizzes r online, worth few points the first quizzes, timing is short and a lot of question. He posts his staff late like few days left before the due date.
He is a hard grader. His exams are really hard and your grade only depends on the 3 3 exam. don't take his class...
I have had my fair share of professors, so I can say this with absolute confidence: Armin's living proof that great professors exist. He is extremely knowledgeable, and his passion is infectious. He is so overqualified that he took on a class he had never taught before and rocked it! Fair tests, great lectures, and clear expectations!
He really teaches. You will learn from him, not just how to pass the test, how to be good at science.
Armin is incredible. Really interesting lectures, and has an established science background. His class was easy to handle as long as you kept up on reading, did labs, and attended class. Very helpful with labs and any questions, 10/10 would take again, and hope to see more of him at North Seattle College!
I loved this class. Armin is an incredible professor- brilliant, kind and charismatic. I would absolutely jump at the chance to take another class with him. Be warned: If English is not your first language, it will make the class harder as he has a German accent and a soft voice.
These few anger Ive reviews about Armin I can promise you are for the laziest students. Armin is a wonderful professor, I wish he taught A&P and every other bio class Ill end up taking at North. He cares about every student and takes time to answer all questions. He is insanely smart and inspires me to learn. Thanks to him, I found love in bio.
If you have any questions during tests or quizzes, he will help explain it to help you understand it better. Pretty easy on grading. An amazing teacher and pretty funny guy. He's one of the best professors I've ever had. Honestly wished he teaches other science classes I need so I can take it with him again. Wish more professors were like him.
Overall, this was a great class! He gives guides for exams, and a lot of it is taken directly from lecture. I wasn't a fan of the group quizzes, but that's more due to other students who hadn't studied the material. He really wants you to do well and is always available to answer questions. Great attitude! I wish he taught more classes I need!
It doesn't matter if this is the only class left to take. Do not take this class. I never had such a rude/unprofessional teacher in my life. I should have listen to the rest of these comments before. Lacks clarity, shows arrogance, very condescending. He is unprofessional in his emails. He continues demonstrate that does not care for his students.
I was never treated by any professors as he did. He tries to show respect to a student as a professor but he is very cocky, arrogant and never listens to a student. The exam had a lot of errors. Writing question was not clear and ambiguous but he didn't want to admit when he made a mistake. His personality needs some work before teaching students.
Lectures are LOOONG and SLOOWWW. littered with ums and pauses. Its impossible to sit through them. I tried not bothering with the lectures and just reading the book but tests are largely based on the lectures. I also found test questions where the "right answer" was wrong if you went by the definitions in the book. I dropped the class.
Cool dude. The reason he pauses and says um is because he is not a native English speaker. I feel like he was an easy grader and the exams always match the material really well. There are a lot of lectures but I didn't watch all of them and still have gotten a good grade. Answers questions and genuinely wants to see you do well. Would take again!
Armin is wonderful at explaining the information in a a way which makes it easy for me to understand.
This is been my favorite course so far and so glad I chose this particular course as the instructor's recordings help me immensely in understanding these concepts in biology. Thanks so much!
Not much to say. He's a great professor. I took this class Fall 2020 and it was an online class.
I enjoyed it a lot and it was my favorite course this quarter. Online environment was easy to navigate, Armin was very communicative.
I like this class a lot. Some questions are a little bit tricky, but it makes me study more.
Good prof, but strict. Tells you what is wrong.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it's worth to go to class. He teaches with a great connection to real life. His back ground with a PhD in neuroscience helps also.
Armin is flexible with assignments. Easy going professor, but will tell you when something is wrong.
I took bio 213 a little while ago and I am writing this because Professor Seidl just wrote me a letter of recommendation. Professor Seidl is great and I liked this class a lot.
So far so good. Good class and great instructor. Availabel for questions and gives quick feedback. Grades assignments the next day or so.
Prof. Seidl has a research background and it shows. He wants you to understand the material. When he doesn't know an answer, he will get back to you later. Would definitely take again.
He's a great professor and not a hard grade. The only thing I don't like is that there is no extra credit.
Great class. I wish he would teach anatomy & physiology more often.
I took bio 160 with Prof. Seidl twice for a better grade. He is very helpful and wants you to do well. I can recommend him!
Great prof! Keeps you on your toes, but it's worth to do all the assignments. You learn a lot and get prepared for the exams.
Great class. Lots of assignments that make you study.
Flexible with deadlines, makes references to current topics. Would take again.
Armin did a great job of being available for questions. Labs were done at home and they were understandable and creative!
Great class!
Professor Armin helped me a lot with biology. He inspired me to continue with biology.
Great!
Great class! Prof. Armin is responsive and really wants you to understand the material.
Great class with current topics. Prof. Seidl made it interesting, even though it was an online class. Can recommend!
Great teacher.
I took Biology&160 with Armin seidl and it was amazing his lecture videos were clear, he gives lots of extra credit assignments, and he is understanding about let homework. You should take class with him.
bordering inaccessible. gives out lab handouts, typically referencing materials and experiments not present at the current lab. you are then left to guess which instructions from the lab handout he wants you to follow. you can ask him during the lab but he is hard to get to as the class is large.
Overall caring but often inaccessible. Quiz and exam questions didn't have the best wording and were sometimes hard to understand even with full knowledge of the material. Explanations in response to questions were not always clear.
Great teacher! Not sure why other say he doesn't answer questions. He totally does and is accessible after class as well.
Easy class when you study and keep up with assignments. Lots of assignments that make you look up things.
He is really sweet and super nice guy. amazing lectures.
He is super nice and sweet guy. Amazing lecture.
Armin is great. He sets clear criteria for grades and participation in labs. Attendance in lectures is not mandatory, but recommended.
Awesome! Armin knows his stuff.
Good, but does not put up with nonsense from students.
He would like make trick question and try to trick you instead of helping you get the right answer. I hate him.
Armin is great. He is willing to stay after class to answer your questions.
Armin is great. I cannot wait to take 213 with him.
Scattershot schedule of assignments - no predictability. No extra credit options. No way to learn from mistakes or get a second chance to succeed. Allows only a few seconds in class to see exams after grading. Confuses "rigor" with "rigid." Long delays to answer questions. Extremely rude to neurodiverse students.
Armin is great teacher. He is a really nice guy and he lets you do quizzes if you missed due date.
Great teacher. I love his online lectures.
Dr. Armin is a good teacher.
Professor Armin is great. He's an old school teacher where it's expected you read the book and come to class to ask questions and supplement the reading with a good discussion. You cannot succeed in this class if you don't put in the effort to teach yourself!! That said, his lectures are awesome and he's extremely understanding and forgiving.
Labs mandatory, not lectures. Provides study guides and you can ask him about what you should know for exam. Great professor.
I had Armin for all 3 quarters of majors biology and I can confidently say that he is one of the best, if not the best, teachers I've ever had. He focuses on ensuring his students understand concepts and truly cares about their enjoyment of the class and what they're getting out of it. If I could take his class again, I would in a heartbeat.
Awesome! Best biology prof yet!
Armin is great!! his lectures are super detailed and interesting, and his exams are pretty straightforward with good study guides.
I love this professor. He is genuinely so nice and cares for the students as long as you show hard work and interest in his lectures. His explanation simplifies all hard concepts and he will forgive you if you submit a few assignments late. But be ready to study and attend class for group quizzes!
Armin deserves a solid 5-star rating! He's one of the best teachers I've ever had. Now in Bio 241, I really wish I had someone who explains and simplifies concepts like he does.😭 I still remember every unit from Bio160. If you want to truly understand the material and earn a good grade, take his class—you'll thank me later!
My experience Mr Seidel was very stressful. I joined the class late and he refused to unlock late assignments (not to receive credit, just to review) He was not understanding, and unwilling to work with me. He was unhelpful if someone has a question in class and would go off on 20min tangents. He came off as pretentious. I'm glad this class is over
Great professor, has lots of time during office hours and is flexible with due dates.
Great professor at north. teaches context and uses scientific papers.
Armin is great. He is very available after class and during office hours.
Best Biology professor ever! Biology 160 has complicated topics; however, professor Armin made them as simple as they could be. He cares about his student and encourages them to participate. Watch the recorded lecture, look at the text book, show the hard work, and you will easily get A+
Very fair professor. Wants every student to succeed.
Great experience in 212. Armin is a neuroscientist and it shows in his expertise. Would take again.
Armin is one of the best professors on this campus! Read the material, watch his lectures, attend his classes, and trust me the exams are doable. He's like a friend; he genuinely wants to help students succeed. The bad reviews are clearly from students who wanted an A without putting in any effort all quarter.
I had the pleasure of taking a class with Professor Seidl this semester, and I can honestly say he is the best teacher I've ever had. I was thrilled to receive an A+ in his class. I highly recommend Professor Seidl to anyone looking for a good understanding of Bio 160.
He was unhelpful when I misunderstood stuff, and made me feel bad for being confused. I found him to be borderline incompetent for plant bio, being unreliable at best with his knowledge of the material. On the final day he aggressively lashed out at the class because majority had gotten a question wrong. Taken for 212 and 213, both sucked.
he is get upset when you ask a question that make it harder to learn and his exam not far time wise you need a lot of time for this class study and home work when he gave an exam he makes it very difficult he is not fair at all I will never ever take his class again
He is a great instructor who gives amazing lectures. His lectures are more than enough to understand the topic clearly. I was a social science student before, but now I've become a fan of biology because he made me love the course. He is very kind and understanding. I highly recommend taking his class.
NEVER WOULD TAKE AGAIN can't trust yalls ratings, very rude and targeted me for no reason, his canvas is so disorganized also you'll show up thinking your doing a lab but instead he has something else planned. doesn't reply to emails you can only come to office hours he has assigned times but doesn't even show up leaves students waiting for hours.
This professor was rude and unprofessional. He calls out students in front of the class and made people feel dumb for asking ?s. If u didn't understand something, he'd say things like “Did you even study?” He even accused me of cheating w/o proof. The way he treats students is very just disrespectful. dont take this class and i don't recommend it.
Armin was an excellent teacher. He is a very passionate lecturer; his online lectures are very high quality. Very skilled at breaking down complex concepts. He really appreciates class participation, and he expects that you did the assigned reading before class. Bio is a hard subject, so be prepared to learn with a no-nonsense but fair instructor!
Armin is a fantastic individual. He is super sweet and care about our understanding of the material.
Armin is great! The amount of required reading in this class can be overwhelming at times, especially when this class is paired with other math or science classes.
Took class in winter 2025. Entire class had an average of over 90% in exams.
Dr. Seidl is an incredible, charismatic instructor who successfully crafted a cluster of students into a community. He puts work and a high attention to detail into each student and expects this effort to be reciprocated. The material was enthralling. I leave the class feeling academically stimulated, challenged, and satisfied.
