He's Okay. He TALKS a lot. He gives out practice questions before a midterm which is a plus. His quizzes and exams are pretty easy if you do your part. I would recommend him but also I wouldn't.
I had a terrible experience taking this class. He is very unclear on the topics and sends a lot of emails just to introduce us to the material. He is very knowledgeable about Chemistry but he is not a good teacher ps : he was a researcher, not a professor. DO NOT TAKE CHEM WITH THIS GUY! I am a Pre-Med and he is horrible!
Horrible lecturer. Doesn't teach well AT all and then expects you to understand the material and do well on the test. Barely gives extra credit.
Sends a LOT of emails, but the practice questions are super helpful if you use them right. He doesn't spoon-feed information. He will not teach critical thinking, which is something you must have to pass this class. Tests/quizzes are generally harder than what is covered in lecture, so practice on your own time. It is a college course, after all.
WORST CLASS EVER!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR CHEM 11. I TOOK IT IN FALL AND ITS A DISASTOR
Multiple choice tests and quizzes can screw you over for because you lose a lot of points for a wrong answer, and there is no partial credit. Lazy way to design tests. No point of going to his lectures because you will not get anything out of it. Just do the practice problems on his website and use his slides for reference.
I took Chem 11 with Dr. P. He is one of the most caring professors at SMC. He cares about your grade and genuinely wants you to do well. He even let the entire class take the 2nd exam twice because he wanted more people to do well. Of course you are going to have to study to do well. BUT if you study based on his practice quizzes and tests EASY A!!
If you take the class seriously and actually do the work, there should be no reason why you don't do well in his class. If you choose to skip lectures, and don't do well, it's only your fault. Dr. Papazyan is one of the nicest professors you can have. He truly cares about your overall success. His lectures are very active and he is a great speaker.
I took Chem 11 with Dr.P. he is a great professor. Specially he cares his students and want everyone to do good on his class.
Great professor, really takes the time to answer questions even in a large class.
I took my first Chem 11 class with him unknowingly after my actual professor for the class fell ill unfortunately. Overall, I would recommend his class to someone who wants a good deserving grade (with a bonus). He pushes students to study together and gives several useful homework and tools. He is very open, so questioning him is 100% good
Although I always enjoyed his class, I had a newfound appreciation after realizing in chem 21 that some important material he covered was not covered in other classes. He really takes time to teach students and has amazing office hours. I found that most people who didn't like his class didn't put any effort into listening attentively to lectures.
Put a lot of time to make sure we understood the material. Dedicated a lot of time outside class to help with any of the material-in office hours, through email and even through phone calls. He took responsibility for material that the majority of the class did not do well in. Very accommodating and a descent lecturer.
He is a very good, dedicated teacher, spends a lot of time explaining and making sure that the students get the material right. Very sweet and caring, a fair grader.
Lots of quizzes and tests but if you go to the lectures and do the assigned problems you'll do really well.
His lectures are painfully boring, especially if you recall anything from chem 10. But his tests are fair. Nice guy, but I wouldn't recommend him.
The best chem 11 professor hands down. He takes the time to give you lecture packages with questions that help you study for his quizzes and exams in addition to homework problems. he is very approachable and helpful. Chem 11 was way better with him than chem 10 taken before with another proffessor. AWESOME!
His lectures are unbearable. Ge gives a lot of extra credits. Study by yourself and you get an A
Words can't express how great of a prof. he is, though he can be easily taken for granted bcoz he cares about you so much. He repeats a lot so he can accommodate more students & not just cater to the top end of class. He has high retention rate (high effective nuclear charge?). Always in his ground-state (relaxed & happy). Dr. P is a noble prof. ;)
Prof Papazyan is definitely one of my least favorite professors. He's very condescending when you ask questions and he always tries to get the class to participate. I barely went to his lectures bc very boring. Tests are based on his study guides and old tests. Make sure you understand those completely and B is guaranteed. Self-teaching required!!!
Would not recommend. Easily angered.
I felt like a failure after taking him this semester. He really tries to trick you on exams and his lectures did not help I honestly had to resort to outside sources. He expects you to know things when he doesnt even provide clear examples in class besides lecture you on slides straight out the book, sort of rude when you ask for help also
Solid professor. Knows his stuff and is a decent teacher. Showing up to class, doing the provided practice problems, and reviewing exams should guarantee a good grade.
Dr. Papazyan really cares about his students' success. His tests are straightforward and for the most part, you know what will be asked. Lowest test/quiz /labs get dropped so it's not hard to keep a good grade. Go to office hours and learn the material he emphasizes. This class is inevitably time-consuming but an A is definitely possible.
He doesn't help. No examples are given. Does not care about his students.
If you are actually trying to learn chemistry I do not reccomend him, horrible at lectures. He shows no examples and is not interactive with students. If your taking the class to just get a good grade, then take his class the practice test are similar. He loves to say he wants to help students, he's actually very confusing during office hours.
I have him for chem 11, he is such a bad teacher. you have to teach yourself and he is so slow with his lectures. All he does is read straight off his powerpoints, which doesn't help you learn at all. He lectures and says he cares about his students but he really doesn't and i don't think he even can answer any questions in class
He clearly loves chemistry and cares about the success of his students. Solves many examples during lectures. He pulls in the students into the discussion and makes sure anyone interested in learning has a chance to ask questions and clarify things. He is super helpful during office hours. Puts in extra time. Can't have a better professor for Chem.
he is the worst teacher ever , i passed chem 10 with an A+ yet i struggled to understand him .. he does not teach a thing , rude , expect you to know everything while he does not do any effort to listen to you or to help you to succeeded .. worst experience ever
Dr. P is smart, knowledgeable, and deep. He goes out of his way to be helpful and supportive. He is always calm, polite, and professional, but you can feel that his desire to help you is genuine. He'll do more than his part. If you study hard, and do your part you will learn a lot and get a good grade doing it.
Friendly, down to earth and kind, but also demanding you to be a proper student. Gives interesting insights. Hard work outside of class required like in any serious class. He practically begs struggling students to get help from him. If you don't, guess who is to blame. Use his advice, get his help and you should do fine.
I loved chem 10 so I was very excited for chem 11. Papazyan was a total let down. His lectures are extremely hard to follow, he is easily annoyed at questions and is always hurrying along saying he doesnt have time to answer and to go to his office hours. Most of my out of class time spent teaching myself the material. Very easily offended as well
Very caring professor. Wants all students to succeed and regularly stays hours past his official office hours end to help. He isnt the best lecturer but he does give doable tests and he let us retake 2 of them while also dropping a test. People who didnt get grades they wanted leave bad reviews but realistically he was the easiest chem Prof at SMC.
without a doubt, hands down, the absolute worst professor I have ever had in my life. do not waste your time with papazyan. he's only gonna make you hate chemistry and want to kys.
He is great! You need to actively think and ask questions to benefit from his lectures, which are actually pretty dynamic and interactive. But they are not the "just write down the crystal clear rules and examples and the test will be the same with different numbers" variety. Understanding concepts essential. He is very warm and helpful.
Not the best choice for chem 11. He's not the nicest guy in the world. While one can do well in his class if they already know chem pretty well, it's difficult to learn anything from his lectures and much of the learning is done on your own. Grading system for tests suck, especially when he spends most of his time grading useless prelab quizes.
Actually the best choice for Chem 11. Clear lectures for those who listen and participate. Fair, multiple choice tests always on material covered well, no tricks. No "grading system" needed. Unbelievably tolerant, helpful. Go to his office hours. And yes, he won't learn it for you. You do the learning. I learned more than I thought possible.
Cool Dedicated Knows his stuff
If you take this class be prepared to teach yourself. Papazyans lectures are so boring and hard to keep up with because he acts like the class already knows the material. He does not really explain and you have to learn everything yourself. On the bright side his tests are the easiest out of all the professors at smc. No need to go to lecture.
Dr P is the best chem teacher in SMC, go to his office hours they are really helpful. Finals was easy you should get an A if you study hard.
Professor Papazyan is really smart and caring. His lectures tend to be long but if you pay attention and catch up with the material (reading the textbook is helpful) and also do the practice questions he has online, youll do fine. Honestly it isnt hard to get an A if youre willing to study and paya the room in class
The easiest A you'll ever get! Be ready to rely on yourself. you don't really get much out of his lectures. his test and quizzes are really easy, just read the book and do the practice questions!
If you are a chemistry major or really want to learn chemistry DONT take his class, youll learn nothing from him! However, if youre only intention is to get an A, this is the class for you.
Don't take the easy A comments seriously. His students do well because he teaches well and makes it no harder than it has to be. But you will fail if you slack unless you know the stuff already.
I would avoid taking his class if at all possible. Hes condescending to students during lectures simply because they ask for clarification. His lectures are useless because he hardly explains the material, so you have to teach yourself. His class was the worst one I have ever taken at SMC, please for your own sanity and GPA dont take him.
This class made absolutely no sense. I have taken chem before and got an A but this class but the lectures don't help at all because in the 2 hours you're there, you probably do two questions. At the Chem tutoring sessions, the tutors don't even understand his logic to answering the questions. I'm still in the class because I have to for my major.
worst. professor. ever. terrible lectures. impossible exams. short temper. how bad are his lectures? I used to wish I'd get into an accident while driving to school just so I wouldn't have to sit through it.
Hes an amazing professor, hes very intelligent and if you go to the office hours and just do some of the homework he asks of you then youll do great. Hes very good at clarifying complex concepts in chemistry that I had difficulty with in chem 10. I would definitely recommend him.
Unless youre really good at teaching yourself, I would not recommend this class
You can definitely tell that he sincerely cares for his students and wants them to do well. He's grading system is fair. All exams are doable and he will email you the exact content you need to know on an exam. Drops lowest quiz, exam and labs. I would definitely recommend him. Love his class! An A is definitely achievable if you put in effort.
Dr. Papazyan is a very nice and funny professor. He is very caring about student and he is very helpful. I wish he teaches chemistry 12, so I can takes his class again!
I would say he is the best professor in Chem11. He care about each one of the students. He give us extra credit for each exams, which means either increase your total grade and your self-confidence. Make sure you do all the works form his website. Then It can fully help you prepare for the exam. All the notes are on his website as well, read it!
Professor is responsible for students. He answers every questions in his office hours. You can get an A! As long as you follow his procedures and do practice problems on his website. His website has everything you need. Make sure you look it up and do all the problems.
As long as you show up and listen he takes time to make sure everyone gets it. It may be slow for some people, but no one gets left behind. I thought I had a hard time on his tests but when it came time for the standardized final I knew everything I needed to know which shows he taught us well.
Professor Papazyan is such a great teacher, He knows his stuff and really cares about his students. He tries to help as much as he can. He wants the best for you. Some students might not like him because they are used to being spoonfed, but we aren't in high school anymore. This is college. Overall he's a very nice professor. Best chem prof in SMC.
Professor Papazyan is a wonderful teacher and very nice person. His lectures are very detailed and organized. He really cares about his student. You can get a good grade if you show up on his lectures, take notes and do the practice problems. I highly recommend taking his class.
I had him for Chem 11. Professor P is so caring and teaches genuinely. He puts so much effort in his teachings. If you put some effort, you will learn a lot from him about learning strategies and chemistry. As a person, he is very nice as well.
All professor Papazyan did was try to help his students get the best grade in the class that they possibly could. Hes a great teacher and a wonderful person. If you need help hes a great person to go to. Would take one of his classes again.
He is easy grader with a lot of extra credits.
Professor Papazyan is without a doubt, the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Not only does he teach horribly, he is also very rude and arrogant for some reason. Always gives you a weird look when you ask a question, very narcissistic. The reason I got an A was because I taught myself, he deserves absolutely no credit for it. Horrible choice
Amazing teacher!
Dr. Papazyan really wants his students to learn. Go to his office hours and he'll take time to help you really understand the material. Even after his office hours he stayed to help me and other students learn how to approach the test problems. He's a very nice guy and gives retakes to help students improve their grade. Truly a wonderful professor!
Professor Papazyan is genuinely caring to help his students. He will work with you pretty much no matter what. He curves tests, and its not difficult to figure out what he will test you on. He provides practice problems that are very similar to what you will be tested. Your guaranteed to do well in his class if you simply do the work.
Extremely arrogant and narcissistic instructor. Seems like he cares more about his perception rather than teaching his students. He constantly talks about his online reviews and how the negative ones are "unfair." I don't think it has occurred to him that maybe the cause of his poor reviews is his poor teaching.
Not the best chemistry out there. Not the nicest guy and he always tells you to seek help from him and when you do he is condescending and quite unhelpful. Boring lecturer and he over complicates simple concepts
Poor lecturer expect to do most the learning on your own. Not very helpful and has a hard time explaining simple concepts
he often just says things that arent true, and if you confront him about it later hell say that it was up to you to tell him he was wrong (even though were the students)-also hes really condescending toward students answering questions and even if your answer is correct hell go on to say youre wrong and then tell the class the same answer
Hes a nice professor. He is very understanding and not as ridiculously demanding as other professors. If you study enough, an A is fairly easy.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! I DONT RECCOMEND ANYONE TO TAKE IT WITH HIM! IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TAKE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE!
Not too difficult of a course if you do all the homework practice questions, which are not mandatory. However, be warned that the test format is kinda jank: 4 midterms, lowest dropped - but all tests are only 15-20 multiple choice questions. That means 2 wrong questions is basically a letter grade...
He is the worst professor at SMC. Avoid taking him if possible. He makes straight forward topics unclear, and to top it off he's not the nicest guy. He's condescending to his students (especially when asking questions in class) and honestly should consider a new profession, teaching is not for him.
Make himself available for office hours. You will need them.
professor papazyan needs to take some time and learn how to be a professor. he rambles on and on about non-chemistry stuff and expects you to know 110% of everything he did not teach. gets very upset when you ask questions. and is super lazy when showing examples on board.
DO NOT TAKE. I studied day and night for his tests only to get a D (his test avgs were 50s). If you asked an in class question, he'd take 30 mins explaining it, leaving you more confused. He never finished his lectures and would then say there's an exam next class on what we DIDN'T FINISH. Reading the textbook saved me. His lectures are scattered.
i like to read through txtbook before lecture, so professor papazyan's lectures makes everything so much easier to digest and understand. he also gives you plenty of chance to ask questions before he moves on from each topic to make sure everyone understand the concepts fully. he also gives plenty of chances to EARN a good grade. :)
Professor Papazyans Great: kind hearted, fair, easy to talk to. We transitioned to online learning due to COVID-19 and hes handled the (honestly very difficult) change professionally and with his students as his primary concern. Gen chem is (generally) pretty boring (IMO) so lectures are whatever, but he devotes lots of time for Qs/explanations
Professor Papazyan is a great teacher! He takes time to explain concepts you are unsure about and is always helpful. His website is very helpful in navigating the course. He also responds to emails fast.
Prof Papazyan, or, as I like to call him, Saint Papazyan, is one of the most hard working teachers that I've ever had. He has high standards, so make sure to put in enough time studying. He does care about academic integrity. Raised on the streets of Istanbul and a graduate of Bogazici University, his family is now his greatest blessing in life.
Professor Papazyan is the most hard-working teacher that I have ever had in my life. He cares a lot about his students and he gave us a lot of resources to be successful in his class in addition during quarantine time he was the only teacher who really cares about his students with disability and he works for us very effectively and hard
Papazyan is thoughtful in how he teaches, constantly revising and making sure his lectures/tests are challenging but fair. He cares about his students. It isn't "easy" but if you have any STEM ability and are willing to do the work it's a pretty guaranteed A. I think he's misunderstood by people that are used to easy As or hate math/science.
DO NOT TAKE! he is the most condescending and rude man alive. purposely makes you feel dumb and when you tell him hes wrong he will disrespect you infront of everyone. cannot teach! cares more about his perspective than teaching. he needs to find a new profession. the average exam grades were 40-50s and would lie to us saying they are 80. dumb!
if you care about your grade, do not take him. he will never care about you or your success. extremely rude in person and in emails. dont bother with office hours hell confuse you more or make you feel dumb. sent a threatening email basically saying if we ever complain to the chair about him hell take it out on us or our grade. averages are 50s
please do not take him. we are taking zoom and many of us are not learning anything. the good reviews on here seem to be written by the professor himself to get a better percentage. do not trust the good reviews. he does not care if you succeed or not. only cares about sounding smart with saying big words. condescending & sends threatening emails
Very straight forward, you've the syllabus & all the class material the 1 day of class (you can work ahead) you don't depend on him (it's college) however he has a lot of office hours(he cares), multiple choice exam-quizzes, hw not graded or mandatory (do it 4 practice). People complaining need to grow-up u have everything to pass. drops 1 exam-lab
You need to put in the work to succeed. Chemistry is not an easy subject, you're basically learning a new language and way of thinking. Take notes during lecture, do the homework problems on his website (it's not graded but you should do it for practice) and you will succeed. Be respectful and don't complain about not getting an easy A!
THE. WORST. PROFESSOR. Do not take this with him. Period. Biggest mistake of my college life. Seriously, avoid this guy at all costs!!!
Great Teacher!
Great teacher. You have to put in the work, but the tests are very fair and he gives so much practice material. It's really on you if you don't do well because he gives you everything you need to succeed. Also super nice guy who cares about his students and wants them to do well. Drops lowest quiz, exam, & lab, which is great if you have an off day
Definitely have to put in the work but he gives so much practice material that is like the exams so it's on you if you fail. Nice guy, cares about students and wants them to do well. The course itself is difficult, but he makes it as bearable as possible. Drops lowest quiz, exam, and lab, which is good for an off day or if you have a lot one week
Flipped classroom style of teaching. Watch his online lectures before class which are long but not too bad. 2x speed. He provides a lot of resources that help you prepare for the test, and as long as you do all of the practice, you should be solid. Cool professor!
Dr P really cares. He wants his students to know the material well. He doesn't cater to the whims of students, which irritates a lot of my classmates but I appreciate it. I have a much better knowledge of chemistry having him as a professor than someone who dumbs it down because the students don't want to do the work. Thank you Dr P!
I try to be as understanding as possible with prof during the pandemic. But there is no way to politely describe Professor Papazyan and his class. He constantly makes mistakes when grading & creating tests and assignments. He is not as open to suggestions the way he says he is. My mental health declined significantly bc of his class. Dont take him.
Never going to really understand why professor papazyan has bad reviews. Hes a good professor that cares about his students. Gives bonus questions on his exams which help take the class average from 55-60% to 70-80%. Highly recommend taking him. Wish he thought chem 12.
Professor Papazyan is great! He tries to understand and help his students as best as he can during office hours. Never thought I'd pass Chem 11 with an A, considering I withdrawed from two Chem 11 classes prior to taking it with him. He is so organized, and makes Chemistry less of a scary subject. I wish he taught Chem 12. Please give him a chance!
Dr.P is an amazing professor who really cares about giving students a lot of resources to understand the material. Warning: You do have to buy the lab materials for online classes. His exams are fair but the quizzes were hard so DO PRACTICE MATERIAL he provides. Really reasonable professor but the class material in itself is really tough.
If youre hesitating between professors and are a better visual learner, dont take this professor. He expects his students to be fully focused 100% of the time and will talk for the majority of his lecture with scarce amts of visuals. Otherwise, great professor, always cheerful and determined to teach.
Dr. Papazyan is a very nice professor. He seems to genuinely care and will go out of his way to explain things if you really need help. While I haven't done great this semester (Personal issues), I do think he's been very fair in his expectations of our class. He won't saddle you with tons of busy work and will try to make sure you understand.
Dr. P is one of the greatest professors at SMC. He teaches chemistry at a high level and even though at times you may feel like you're stupid, you will soon realize that his teaching style molds you and your work ethic very positively. Disclaimer- if you lack determination and tough skin, don't take his class.
I would say the difficulty of this teacher is medium/hard. You definitely need to do your own learning on the side in order to get a good grade in this class. The test and quizzes are back to back so be aware that there is not much of a study period in-between. For a STEM class I don't believe it is super difficult, it is just very time consuming.
dr p answers all questions. He's not the best at explaining, answers are long and confusing but wants, ultimately, for you to understand. His slides are complete.Quizzes/exams are the same.If you're sensitive, you may feel offended by the way the professor speaks so it might not be suited for you,but Dr P has every intention to help students to excel
Didn't learn anything in this class, forced to teach myself. Exams and quizzes don't match the overly long, meandering lectures that only cover basics. Condescending attitude when questions are asked, and test times are extremely short. Class averages on exams were low. My mental health declined in this class. Do not recommend, take someone else!
Worst lecturer ever. His attitude is VERY condescending: spends more time on randoms rants about health or awful students, or lectures on why he teaches in this way and that you should follow without question, than teaching the actual material. Takes 5 hours to teach something that should only have taken 2. I could never make myself concentrate.
you have to watch his 5 hours of zoom lecture which is time-consuming. Didn't learn anything from him. His class is really hard, take someone else if you want to actually learn.
This was my 2nd time taking this course after I tried with a highly rated professor, so don't believe everything you see on here. The comments below are saying the lectures were too long... it was a 6 wk of course it was. He doesn't want you to just memorize but actually understand the concepts. Do the HW if you want to pass which isn't mandatory.
Dr. Papazyan has one of the deepest understanding of chemistry. Ask questions and he will put in the effort to help you understand the material. Most professors will give you a textbook answer to memorize, but Dr. Papazyan provides a deeper answer. Participate in class as if you're answering short answers. It's a good way to practice for exams.
Let me do you a favor and steer you away from ever taking his class. His entire lecture is on power point. He rarely will work through problems or give examples. The entire lecture is basically listening to someone have a conversation about chemistry. I had to listen to another professors lecture online during the whole semester so I could pass.
Dr. Papazyan is a good person- he always wants what's good for the students. However, his material isn't engaging at all and he reads from his PowerPoints, never giving enough time for students to write down notes. He grades really slowly, too, so you won't know your grade from a lab until a month later. Don't take if you want a structured class.
Don't take this professor unless u enjoy boring PowerPoint presentations. very passive-aggressive, doesn't do many practice problems, and confuses students by teaching material in an unnecessarily difficult way. he has good intentions, but he doesn't know that his execution leads to his students being confused. don't take, unless u are good at chem
i got an A in this class but mostly due to the fact i did well on prelab/lab, and he drop low quiz and exam (out of 3 each), and i got a 96 on the acs final which is much easier than his tests. he curves quiz/exam. i am good at chem which is why i survived this class but if u don't have a strong chem background this class will be hard. boring lecs
A hard class. The lectures go fast and you'll have to study. But the study guides he gives help a lot. He also helped me a lot during his office hours. The labs weren't too bad. I liked the professor, but it was for sure my hardest class this semester and made me not want to pursue chemistry.
I actually thought this was a fine class. Papazyan is bad at lecture, but you can honestly get by by skipping a lot of lectures and teaching yourself on his slides (which are complete and help you get 80% of the non mandatory homework done). He is condescending for sure, but he helps you in office hours. Not the hardest stem class I've taken.
Chemistry in general is a hard subject so you cannot expect this class to be easy. Be ready to study a lot. He curves all of the 3 quizzes and 3 exams and the final. Drops lowest quiz and exam. The quizzes and exams are very similar to practice exams. He provides many practice problem which is helpful. Do all of the practice exams.
Very boring lectures. Curves all of the quizzes and exams. He was bad at lectures but his exams weren't that hard but you had to do most of the learning on your own and teach yourself. The ACS was easier than his exams
In class, he didn't explain things well so I would be confused the whole time unless I came into class with a perfect understanding of what we were going to learn that day. He doesn't assign HW so your grade is comprised of quizzes and tests which can be a challenge. He's also condescending so you don't feel comfortable asking questions in class.
Very smart. Maybe too smart to be here. I question his loyalty.
Chem 9. He is very nice, but is a bad lecturer and procrastinates. Exams and quizzes were based off of his lectures (not the book), but 90% of the time he rambled and said nothing of value. Tests would have 10-15 questions worth 12pts each. Does not prepare study guides. By the final exam 30% of the lab work submitted was not graded.
He literally didn't know what to do and was filling in for another professor. The lectures are boring and odd... just do labs and try your best on the tests to pass. Might need to read the book on your own if you want to learn something. Other than that he is pretty sarcastic which can kind of be funny but also not.
Not very good at explaining things in a way students understand. He knows a lot but gets side tracked very easily and can't communicate concisely.
LAVC for chem 101 I've taken hard classes but this class is VERY difficult because of the lack of structure. No HW required so u need to be very self disciplined & lectures were difficult to understand because of his rambling & getting off topic find diff prof he wont give straightforward answers to questions & never gets to the point.
I honestly wouldn't take this class again, sure he is a nice guy but his lectures don't always help and you will have to study on your own to pass.
This class isn't an easy A. If that's what you're after, I wouldn't recommend it. Each week includes a quiz worth 50 points, the final is 200 points, and labs are worth 25 points. There is no homework, only to finish the labs prior to the next lecture.
The lectures can be dry, but the professor makes up for it by providing helpful study guides and being available during office hours. I found Unstuck study really useful for practice problems. With diligent studying, this challenging class is manageable.
Have no idea how to rate this.. labs are in person and you turn in a report. he doesnt really care what you put on it as long as you try. Weekly quizzes on chapters and you get a cheatsheet like the final. Disorganized and weird lectures. He doesnt have a clear idea of what hes doing but at least hes caring and nice although mildly condescending.
He is genuinely interested in teaching, but this sometimes can lead to him oversharing and overcomplicating subjects. If you ask him, he will always break it down to simple terms and he won't stop until you have it mastered. He actually programs learning tools and exercise generators on his website and provides a lot of practice problems for tests
Professor Papazyan is patient, understanding, and accommodating of different life circumstances. He explains topics in detail to ensure students understand, though he can sometimes go long. Grade scheme is test-heavy, so earning an A can be tough, but he genuinely wants students to succeed.
Sooooo.... I didn't take his class, but I found his website during my final week, and it literally saved me!!!! His PowerPoint and practice questions are really organized with answer keys and explanations. Compared to my current professor, with slides full of errors, no practice questions no explanation in lectures.
