He takes off points for being late, but you could miss every class and be fine. He's very inconsistent one second he's talking about how he smoked weed, and the next he's a total ass. Don't take him unless you want to work your butt off to get a C or B

Easy to talk to and get in touch with. Knows what he is talking about and is always willing to help.
He uses most of the class's time to preach from his liberal pulpit. Meanwhile, you've no idea what he expects on assignments. He grades inconsistently. He can be either congenial or nasty, depending on his mood and whether or not he likes you.

Awesome teacher. If you don't come away from his class thinking than you don't know how to think. Very helpful when you ask for help.

A.B. is a great professor who is concerned about his students not only passing his class but succeeding in life. I think that those who made comments about ebonics are ****. I highly reccomend his class if you want to get over fears of public speaking and get an easy "A" Just don't be late for his class!!!

Hard to understand
This professor can be nice but he tends to try to imbarrass students.He speaks fast, with occasional slang and its sometimes hard to understand him.He forgets to give assignments. Then throws it at you last minute.He trys to make a easy class hard.This class is easy, except for the fact that you have to give speeches in front of the class.Hes ok.
Teacher was awesome. me and my gf learned a lot from this teacher. highly recommended for anybody taking com 101 at the hen. campus
HE is really arrogant. When I took him he constantly tried to flaunt the fact that he was getting his doctorate. Plus, he grades harsher than needed on the speeches and is generally not very approachable.
He is ok. I am taking his class and I am starting to see that he likes to embarass students for no reason. I think it makes himself feel more confident about being a speaker. He always uses rap music as examples which is a no no. He is an overall good professor though. I recommend him to you. He just needs to not talk about rap so much and he is ok
I think AB is a great teacher. He makes class fun and interesting! He has so much knowledge and experiance that he wants to share with his students. He wants us to feel like public speaking is fun and not a chore. I would Highly recommend AB!!!
He like to talk about how much our current present suck and that Bush has not done anything right and that everything is Bush's fault. If he finds out that you like Bush or support Bush that he will taunt you all through out the class. In every class he likes to talk about the War in Iraq. I absolutely loved Professor Bell. The first day of class you go up there and you give a speech and you can talk as long as you want. The goal is to last a minute. There are about 4 other Speeches that are really easy and thats it. Being a liberal democrat I loved his way of thinking. This professor actually belongs at UNLV, CCSN isnt his caliber.
i just happen to stumble by AB, and saw how ppl rated him bad. i took him in past spring, and man let me tell you, that is the best teacher. everything he said was to help improve our abilities. i dont care what anybody else say, he was great. i took his class and so did my gurl. he liked to joke around, but very helpful. highly recommend him.
WHEN HE FIRST STARTED TEACHING HE WAS MUCH MEANER BUT VERY VERY FAIR. HE ALLOWS EC NOW AND REALLY CARES ABOUT THE STUDENT. HE GREW UP OR GOT MORE COMFORTABLE THAN WHEN HE FIRST STARTED. 1st impression, thought he was just ghetto. after a few weeks, became apparent that he was going to be the best teacher i have ever had. imo, everyone who complains about him doesn't like to work. he tells you what he wants. do this and it's an EASY a. i am a republican and he never ridiculed me or graded me down for it.
Not a great teacher, but an easy A. You spend 90% of the class time watching videos and talking about political issues. He should be teaching political science, not public speaking. He likes to belittle and embarrass students that don't agree with his politics. I was never on the receiving end, but I wached him do it to others.
AB is a straight forward kind of guy. If you follow his instructions to the "T" you will easily walk away with an A or B in his class. He has a weird sence of humor that grows on you. I would definatly recommend his class. Lots of fun.
In his several pop quizzes he will ask some questions twice, so if you do not know it the first time, you end up missing double the points. He speaks in Ebonics a lot. He thinks that he knows history but does not. He should not even be a PSC professor because he sucks at politics.He shows very biased/ridiculous films. changes assignments after give
I took AB several years ago for a Speech class (I think COM 122). Let me tell you, all the things that he taught me I STILL USE TODAY! Yes, he will push you to the limit, challenge you until you pull your hair out, but at the end of the day you will be a better person because of it! TAKE THIS CLASS, WORK HARD, AND IT WILL PAY OFF!!!!
AB is a pretty good teacher and I feel he knows what he is talking about. His class really is not that hard. If you follow instructions and do the speeches correctly you will get an A. I got a D on my midterm, but A's and B's on my speeches. He grades pretty fair and is very upfront with you. HE JUST TELLS IT LIKE IT IS.
Pretty strict. Likes to talk about politics and expect you to like it. Took in the summer and there were about 5 speeches and a final. The final had nothing to do with the class and was the only time we used the book. If you follow directions, you'll get a good grade.
He is a good teacher can't believe anyone would fale his class currently taking com 101. Very clear his expectations and educated man those who doesn't like him well I just have to say may have other personal apperance issues with him. Just read syllabus and will get and A.
Very interesting class, keeps class moving. Does not hold things against you if you don't agree with him. Is very demanding, but fair. BE ON TIME for this class!!! If you do what he expects, you will get a good grade.
AB is an interesting professor. He expects you to be on time and attend every class. He can be very Liberal in the class, so if you're conservative or like Bush, you might have some problems. He expects you to be creative and read the text. Besides my Fear of Public Speaking, it was a good class. I would take him for a future class.
AB was an awsome teacher. He made me actually want to go to class at 8am! I was deathly afraid of public speaking, still am, but he made you look at it in a different way and showed you how to organize yourself so you could succeed. You have to come to class and be prepared which isn't hard unless you are a loser and don't give a sh*t about it.
The teacher was interesting. I wouldn't recommend taking him. If you have the ability to think for yourself or don't have a problem with listening to biased off topic politics all day, don't take this class.
A.B. is a great teacher, really pushes you to get out of your comfort zone and decide where you stand. Do the assignments, and show up to participate in class and this is an easy A
He was a pretty cool, lenient teacher. Always makes the class discussions funny and interesting. Plays lots of videos. If you do the work, it's not really a hard class at all. He's very encouraging and you can ask him for help anytime.
A.B. is a GREAT TEACHER! I found him to be easy to talk with if I had any issues. He means what he says when he tells you how he wants it done. No EXCEPTIONS! I suggest to anyone that wants to take his class to be prepared to have to actually do some work and not just sit back and slide by. Just follow his rules and you should do fine.

AB is a real cool teacher, I enjoyed taking his class. He is strict and fair but he gives a lot of extra credit that helps out your grade. The things you have to watch out for are the quizzes and the speeches. This class helps you get over the fear of public speaking. I would take this class again. (If I had to)
The majority of the reviews are true he IS an easy teacher. But the class was useless. He spent more time talking about irrelevant topics and watching pointless movies while he BS'ed his way through teaching. Many students could have benefitted from his class but we weren't taught. If you want a passing grade from a Fake teacher. Heres the class!!
AB can be easily misunderstood, especially if you're a poor listener. BE ON TIME! Do the reading: he sometimes likes to make students lecture impromptu on the chapter. Can sometimes be disorganized. AB is an excellent teacher, he makes you think outside the box. I was seriously terrified about public speaking, but the way AB interact with class and lets you get involoved helps alot with being comfortable being around your classmates. Dont judge him too quick, also respect his class and come on time, do the work and you will be fine...
This proffessor was pretty cool. He really makes you think about everything. And his communication skills are great. I just recommend to read the chapters because he will surprise you with quizes out of no where. And the speeches that we had to give were pretty okay.
Depending on his mood and if ur a girl he will be nice to you. He bables about being a player going off subject a lot. Horrible at giving direction as to what he expects from you when u speak. He doesn't keep his composure when people don't show up to class when he fails most of the people in it. Worst teacher I've ever had to take.

Worst Teacher ever he's favourite line page 262 well we know its 262 already. Comes across as very angry with a mission to help you fail. Steer clear of this Teacher because you wont learn anything helpfull except for page 262 enough already. He needs to have his teachings skills re-evaluated.

This was the most deceitful, unprofessional teacher I have ever had. Not only was he unclear in his instruction but he looked for ways to humiliate students. Constant use of vulgarity and talk of sex. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Professor Bell and his classes.
Do NOT take AB's class unless you plan on being challenged. AB teaches like he was taught, kind of old school, he expects to be respected and gives it in return. He will NOT baby you. As challenging as his class was -I know that I'm a better person for taking it. He is an AWESOME teacher. This class has had a great impact on me.

AB is a pretty relaxed guy, when it comes to sports that is. He is always on spot with everything. Sure he'll go off onto a tangent off and on but we did it as a class. Even though i received a D an A was at my finger tips. DON'T MISS ONE DAY! thats what i did and it was over. AWESOME TEACHER!
Took AB in the four week summer course. Hate COM, but glad I had AB as a instructor. The main goal of the class is to always try to improve on what you did wrong. Show improvements on every speech and you should have no problem passing the class and make sure you do a good outline and practice your speeches at home.
A.B. is such a great professor.For everyone saying that he was a terrible teacher and you didnt learn anything, that was probably because you didnt do the work and was lazy. He is a real world teacher. he takes no BS. Attendance and arriving on time is a must! and he doesnt embarass you, he just wants you to be involved in the conversation.
Do not take this class. This is an INTERPERSONAL communication class and we spent TEN (yes, you read that correctly) TEN class periods watching movies. This teacher turns everything into an issue about race, and when he is not talking about race, he is talking about sex. He is incapable of critical thinking and is constantly argumentative.
I don't see what the first two are saying. Racist? I can't say what they experienced, but mine has been great. He makes you take responsibility, become a critical thinker and hold yourself to higher standards. Some may have problems with that.

AB is a great instructor when he is actually talking about the subject. He uses the text to cover to cover up when he actually does go a tangent. When he is not teaching from the textbook he always goes off on a tangent talking about racial issues (usually the african american culture) or sex. If you are not open minded you will be after this class
To say the least, AB is a great teacher. Yes, he grades hard and may be offensive to people who are closed minded, but his interpersonal communications class will teach you a lot. I learned a lot about myself and how to better my relationships with people. Also the fact that he doesn't give quizzes is awesome, just participate in discussion!
This guy is not some eye-opening genius like some are making him out to be. He repeats 2 or 3 meaningless catchphrases over and over throughout the year. He is only encouraging or open- minded if your views and his are the same. I hated my semester with Arnold Bell.

I the 4 week summer class. The class was demanding, but, you really notice a tremendous amount of growth in yourself and your speeches. AB is a fabulous professor who makes sure that everyone is comfortable and understands the topics. He is really passionate about communication and enhancing the world. I would reccomend this professor to anyone!
Thought he was great. Will challenge you to look at yourself. You must earn the grade you want to get...no freebies...which makes sense to me! If you do the work and put in the time you will do well.

When you do not make a comment in class he gets mad, when you do he shuts down your argument. he is constantly giving pointless assignments. Save yourself the trouble and do not take him!
AB was a great guy in my opinion. He offended people with how blunt he was, but he's allowed to as a professor. We primarily typed outlines for speeches and never had to fully write them out, which was a relief. I suggest taking him if communication and speaking isn't too big of a deal to you.
AB is a cool guy. That being said the lectures are mind-numbing. He is supposedly lecturing over the chapters but continuously segues into racial/sexual equality issues which Im all for exploring, just not the same perspectives(his) for the entire class period, every day. If he would prepare an on topic lecture from the textbook class would be ok.
AB is the WORST instructor ever--PERIOD. His entire curriculum is a racial dispute. He's defensive, irrational, & doesnt know how to teach! If your opinions differ from his, watch out. He texts during class, walks around barefoot, plays movies because he has no agenda, & his assignments arent clear. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take this class.
I found that he didn't teach, rather he would rant about how the world ought to be. Was not professional and would call people out for the smallest thing (being tardy is a big mistake unless you like to be put on blast). Finally he assigns papers on movies that we watch and does not give a clear idea of what he wants.

The 1st week of school, I hated this guy. He was just to blunt and if you did not agree with him, he would put you on blast. After though, I realized it was his way of getting a reaction out of students. He wants everyone to speak up and he's a great teacher who wants students to succeed. I would recommend to those willing to put in time & effort.
I attended community college 20+ years ago. I also read the various comments about AB, and in my opinion, he is a good teacher. Students then and now are too passive and have to be pushed past their comfort. He lectures, you do the rest, just like back in 1990! AB makes good arguments, the textbook is very dry, most students expect spoon feeding.
The class itself is interesting and for the most part easy if you simply follow the 10 steps when you're presenting and do the outlines correct. AB lectures a lot, but his lectures have meaning and are inspiring. Make sure you read the one chapter a week he assigns. If you are closed minded do not take this class,Easy A or B if you do what is asked
AB was straight up I noticed a lot of bad comments are from people who probably failed this was a really easy class common sense just do your speeches and call it a day. I really wanted to like this professor, but honestly he spends all his time talking about racial issues that keep us apart. If you don't chime in to the group discussions he gets pissed, but if you do chime in and he doesn't agree with you he makes you feel dumb. He says to let him know if you'll be out, but when you email him he never replies.
In my opinion, AB is an excellent instructor, very clear, and doesn't waste time at all, I highly recommend him. You have to be in his class in order to agree/disagree these comments
The overall class was pretty easy but Professor A.B. was never really clear on the assignments. He would often go off topic.
Mr. AB was an amazing teacher, h e really opened me up and i learned so much about myself and helpful life tips from him. He is really blunt and straight up. He tells you what you need to do on your assigments and it was a pretty easy class for me but i got a lazy at the end and bombed the last speech, but AB is pretty chill guy.
I took this class hoping to learn about communication, instead I was force fed factually unsupported and frankly sloppy lectures on genderrace inequality issues. As others have said, he requires class participation but will humiliate and make an example out of students who disagree with his opinions. Just don't.

He puts you on blast in front of the whole class if you are 1 min. late, he dosent care about your excuse. He wants you to participate and comment, but when you do and he does not agree he will try to embarrass you in front of the whole class. He can be rude at times. I learned more about his love affairs then about communication.
Professor A.B is real straight up. He may come out a bit rude but he just won't take any BS. He will call you out, he may disagree, but don't take it personal. If you don't have an open mind, Do NOT take this class. He talks more about real life issues that open up your mind. He may do impromptu quizzes out of nowhere so I suggest you read.
The people who complain about A.B, probably just don't like the way he keeps it real. He's funny and is definitely not a boring teacher. His lectures are from the book, but he compares them to realistic issues. & he may go off subject. I looked forward to his class. You HAVE to be involved in group discussions. As long as you do your work, Easy A!

A.B is an easy going guy as long as you have your stuff together. He will tell it how it is. You should not take offense to any of the comments he directs towards you. He's a good, funny, real, inspiring & strict professor. Would take his class again.

Professor Bell is an awesome teacher. He helps you and his lectures are so much the class goes by super fast. If you do all the work and come on time for every class you can pass this class with an easy a and b.
He is fun. You have to walk in open minded to understand where he is coming from. He is indirectly teaching communication by communicating with the class and than supporting his lecture with the book. Yes he is blunt he can be harsh but he is simulating real life. A.B does require you to do quite a few speeches, but that was expected in a communications class. Our final exam was a canned food drive : ) As long as you do the work, class is easy! I WOULD TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!
He calls you out if you are over a minute late, and does grade attendance. He gave us 4 speeches in the semester. He is a strict grader, so you have to really rehearse them. Most class discussions are on current events and racial disparities. If the entire class contributes to discussions, there are no tests.

This class is not about speech, its about his exploiting his delusional views on life and people. It's like a debate class. SKIP THIS GUY. He's honestly HORRIBLE!!

I was not impressed with Prof. Bell's attitude. His class was more of a soapbox than a seminar. He often graded papers based on how much he agreed with your opinion rather than the quality of your work. Most of the class consisted of watching movies and writing response essays. He makes his opinion clear. If you agree with it, you will get an A.

A.B. is the best professor I have had. He keeps it real with you and he is clear on what his exceptions are. He is not easy by any means. In order to pass his class you must come prepared and come to class everyday. Expect to learn, he teaches start out of the book. If the class participates then you will have a nice semester.
THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I'VE EVER HAD. He opens your eyes to a whole new world! He's one of few that keeps it 100 with you, takes no bs from anyone. He's tough on students only because he wants you to strive and push yourselves. There was never a class where I didn't learn something new & he's hilarious! Do your work and practice.
AB's class was very fun and interesting. He wasn't always clear on what he expected, although he thought he was. We talked alot about racism and as to why our generation is afraid to speak on issues. Felt more like a debate class. Speaking became easier over time. Be sure to STUDY YOUR CHAPTERS THOROUGHLY or you'll be sorry!
AB voices his opinion a lot. He is proud to have proven the black man stereotype wrong. He talks about racism because it is a big issue in today's society. Speeches are done about every 2 weeks. He grades fairly! Whether he agrees with you or not. He's an amazing professor, funny too. "sUccess & failUre starts with yoU."
Make sure you never forget anything because he WILL NOT work with you, even if you have proof that you did the assignment.

He's a pretty straight forward teacher and tells it like it is. If you try and pay attention you will do great in his class. He pushes everyone to their fullest potential, and def doesn't take any excuses. Just try hard and you will be fine. Most ppl drop his class because they weren't able to handle it! Don't be lazy!
This class is frustrating because the professor seems to think everyone in his classes are lazy and unmotivated. All feedback is negative. Today the hour long lecture was about how none of us are motivated and how we are going to waste our time. Oh and how he did none of these things and is amazing. Everything is a fight with him.
AB thinks he's a great commuicator, but confuses you w/ what he wants (gives you 2 templates for speeches but will get angry if you ask which one you should use, etc) Doesn't teach out of book but copies from it for midterm & final exams. He gives useful feedback on speeches, but it's not worth the complete confusion he causes the rest of the time.
Prof. Bell is a great teacher but he want you to do the work. And to participant in class. if you do the things he ask you to do then you would do better in his class.
AB was a very motivational instructor. You could definitely tell he wants you to succeed, however, he is not very clear on his topics. He expects you to understand the moment he says something, yet if you ask a question regarding his assignments, may get a smart remark. Assignments are pretty straightforward, yet his instructions may be confusing.
I know he means well but sometimes his attitude can be difficult however it's nothing you can't manage. He is a fair grader, topics were fun and interesting, and he gives great feedback on speeches. Basically he gets the job done you may have to adjust to everything else and don't take it personal. Overall it was a fair class, and a fair teacher.

His test is really hard. and you will be reading out of the textbook a lot. and I mean a lot. be ready to ask question. I advice you to take another teacher but take a different teacher!!!!
Honestly, he was my first professor in college and I was shocked, the quizzes were pretty easy and it was just the lectures that were kinda tough. I would take his class again, he's not a terrible teacher I thought he was pretty great. A lot of people would think he is too opinionated but it's pretty eye opening what he says, he's very open minded.

Professor Bell is one hard grader but you do learn learn a lot from him. Not only do you learn how to effectively communicate you also get life lessons. Definitely not the professor to choose if you want to take the easy route. Also there is a lot of reading. Even though he is strict he is fair and his lectures are awesome.
Ireally enjoyed this professor he gave you a reality check, and really gave you the insight of communications. He gave me Jamie Fox resemblance in personality, he was very old school and direct giving you excellent feedback. He is not for the faint of heart though haha if you are unproductive. I took AB my first semester & hehas been by far one of my favorite professors. He speaks on relevant subjects & gives you news ways to view things. After reading rate my professor I was unsure about taking him but I'm glad I did! He's someone that keeps it very real with you. So if you take things personal DONT take him. Keep up and you'll be fine!
This is not an easy class, but easily my favorite professor and experience I've ever had. He challenges opinions and isn't seeking "yes men" students, encourages and seeks out disagreement. He expects you to uphold your responsibilities as a student and treats you like an adult. This is the kind of style I expect out of college and I loved it.
I respect AB as a TEACHER. However, I have experienced some unnecessary backlash. I had to do a speech the next day, because there wasn't enough time the first day. I reminded him before class and his says out loud, "Don't tell me how to do my job. I am doing it pretty well. You do yours. Sit there, be a student, and stay quiet." Rude much?
I enjoyed his class because of the lectures that he gave. I wasn't very well on turning in assignments and this caused me to fail the class. Participation is an important thing and he encourages his students to go out and make a difference in the world. Make sure you have a printer handy and you're ready to participate.
Save yourself, this is the first professor that I feel as though he didn't care for his students. He was so intimidating that no one would want to ask for help because he would just make us feel stupid by saying he had already covered that. Plus he never gave exact directions, you pretty much are on your own.
You show up a minute late hell lecture you. Six people showed up late and he repeatedly stopped class to lecture them. If you had to show up late because of a family emergency, car, etc he wont accept your quiz giving you a zero. Doesnt read emails. Easy work. Doesnt teach just spouts off his ideas. I was shook taking this class. Okay so first of all I want to say as a person he is very funny and cool, but as a teacher he is very hard on students and unfair in my opinion. One day I was late by 2 min (for my 1st time) and he wouldnt accept my assignments b/c of it. It caused my grade to drop drastically & it was hard to get back up.
Professor Bell isn't the type of instructor most are probably used to for a gen ed class. He very much stresses being punctual; being late by a few minutes will likely result in a lecture by him, as well as losing the opportunity to turn in your work. However, I feel as though this level of rigor was beneficial to me. Be prepared before taking.
Save yourself some time and don't take this professor! He was horrible! I felt he was rude and wasn't understanding at all! He doesn't care about his students or the situations they may be going through. Don't take him!

In my opinion this professor was very good. Yes he obviously is not like most professors to baby you or anything, he made it clear in the beginning that your grade depended on you. I took him my first year in college for the first 8 weeks and Im really glad I did. He was inspirational and really opened my eyes as to how the college life is.
His class is not hard, y'all are just used to not having standards for grading. you're not in HS anymore!! just showing won't get you an "a". It's literally not hard! He is very strict but tells you what he expects from you on the first day. Syllabus is well put and includes all the instructions for speeches. Stick to it and you'll pass with an A. Open book quizzes at the end of each week to take home. Lectures in class made me really think about life. Applies much of his life to the lecture material.
I honestly don't believe that his man cares about his students and find him rude. Class was also confusing the first day. Instead of going over what the class was going to be about he started talking about how credit card companies get our information and how society already perceives us a certain way. I thought I signed up for communications?
The lessons do not match the content in the book and speeches are handed out with no help in preparing besides format. I found the professor does not care for his students and the lectures were repetitive. Overall one of the worst classes I have taken in many aspects.
One of the realist teachers ever. Kinda hard on student only for them to be successful. Very helpful with speeches tells you in advance and is also in the syllabus. Easy open book quizzes! You can learn a lot from this class if you listen. Just do the work and you will pass. "Pushing my students to be 1st not 2nd or 3rd" he always stated!

Many find it difficult but if you're not willing to succeed then yes it will be difficult. This class will actually prepare you for communication and life. The most difficult thing about this class are the speeches which are not difficult just nerve-racking. You will have quizzes which are open book (they are very easy).
Amazing class. All you gotta do to pass the class is do all the quizzes, which the answers are online. And exactly follow the format outline for your speeches also reach the time limit. I thought I would hate the class bc I'm shy. But really the class was great. Get ready to share your thoughts on the lectures though. He's chill and funny too.
This class is for the mature minded. He will treat you like an adult. If I had taken this class fresh out of HS, I might have seen Prof Bell as overbearing but he really does care and will push you to bring out the best in yourself. Do not let the 101 fool you into thinking this is an easy A. Its not hard but you gotta work for it.
Ridiculously strict. Especially if you're fresh out of high school. Don't expect to get anywhere if you're new to college. He's simply too harsh. So strict to the point that it's very unlikely you get above an F if you're fresh out of high school.
First day tells us hes not there to teach us how to overcome anxiety while giving a speech in front of people. Was over 10 mins late to the first class, and lectured students second class for being late. Doesnt do actual lectures, but rambles on about points in his book. Expects you to contribute to what hes rambling about. DO NOT TAKE.

This is my fourth semester and this is my first time giving a review because this teacher is horrible. He argues with anyone who tries to appose his argument. He talks about handle your business or your business is going to handle you yet he is very unpredictable with his schedule. He makes you do assignments that arent even on the syllabus.
He want the class to actually be engaged. He wants to to learn and take away something from each lesson that you can use in life.
The class wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for Bell's mismanagement of time. There were a couple times that we fell behind to the point where quizzes were cut. One class was scrapped so he could give the class a lesson about the US economy. Don't get me wrong. The class teaches some valuable lessons about speaking, but it's far from perfect.
Half of the classes were canceled (8-week session) for no apparent reason. Most of the lectures that did occur were on topics that have nothing to do with the class and that are often highly controversial. Students who disagree are not listened to, despite that being one of the biggest lessons in com. The exams and speeches are fairly easy.
Dr. Bell is a solid professor. He doesnt accept any excuse unless properly documented so make sure to bring your A-game. He is passionate about the subject. Although I had an overall good time in his class, I would not retake him because he can be too callous and, though life and school arent suppose to be easy, a little kindness wouldnt hurt.
This was the worst class I have taken in my entire college career. Professor Bell is a terrible communicator for being a communications professor. Barely got any responses back via email and what I did get back was passive aggressive and made very little sense. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Especially right now with everything online.

He graded my perfectly done 3 assignments zero because they were submitted per his instructions in his syllabus that he hadnt updated for years. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Worst professor ever honestly he's literally the only teacher I am having problems with. He does not care if you are having technical difficulties and he will not specifically tell you what you need to work on. Just don't take him save your money and time and go with someone else.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had in all my college years. You cannot ask him any questions, he will just tell you to check his extremely confusing and useless syllabus; I absolutely believe that this teacher could care less about his students and is a terrible person other than that class is okay, easy quizzes and videos every now and then.
"Professor" Bell never actually teaches, instead he posts YouTube links to others teaching. Syllabus was a dead, non-functioning link. When contacted, professor refused to give a working syllabus. Two of my assignments I got points knocked off my grade for missing particular portions. When I checked to see if something happened I saw that I did submit them. When asked, he said he quadruple checked and I did not submit it. Which I know is not true, because he would have seen them if he check like he said. So he's lying to me and won't listen.
Professor Bell takes a long time to respond to email. He does not accept late work at all!! Class and assignments are very easy just don't miss any deadlines. Avoid taking this professor if possible.
If this Professor actually taught the class I'm sure things would be different. Do not take his online classes. They will not work with you on late assignments and they will do little to nothing for teaching the class. Most the time any feedback for an assignment came After the next assignment was due leaving me in the dark. Hated this class.
I took professor AB years ago. Im glad hes still tough on students. If you follow through with what he asks of you, I can guarantee youll end up successful. He emphasizes everything needed in a work place. Be punctual, be ready, and make sure you understand what you need to do. The inability to change impedes your ability to learn
I loved AB. I had him when I was working on the paper years ago. He was incredibly helpful and always willing to listen. Yes he's tough and makes you work, but you really take something from the class. I learned a lot, and I felt that he valued us and was usually available for feedback.
Seriously please do not take this professor! I made the mistake of taking him and he is genuinely such a hard grader and is so particular about how you submit your assignments even though he gives no direction. Doesn't even have a syllabus, and he will never answer your emails. Awful class and professor overall.
I took AB before I knew about RMP. He's very straightforward with what he wants. He says exactly what you need to do and when to do it. He doesn't answer emails or responds to comments left on canvas, at all. Strict attendance policy. Excessively long videos for 3-sentence responses. The syllabus doesn't seem up to date either. Wouldn't recommend.
The semester ended but yet the professor has not graded over half of the material. When will grades be posted? You can't learn anything in this class because the professor doesn't respond to emails and doesn't teach, he uses youtube. Also, he makes you put your youtube videos on public view for assignments which violates students privacy.
He's straightforward and tells you exactly what he expects but, he is a tough grader. This class was portrayed as in-person but we only met 3 times out of the semester, if you enjoy going in-person this class might not be your best option because it's like an online course. I wouldn't retake this class.
I took the 8 week course and we only met for the first class and the midterm. The one day a week class is 3 hours long but you'll never meet more than twice. Textbook isn't needed, takes forever to respond to emails and grade assignments. You'll do 4 videos and upload them on YouTube and several quizzes w/ discussion posts but it's all pretty easy.
He takes forever to grade, his expectations are unclear, his canvas setup is confusing and clunky, he responds to emails but is rude and short, if he wanted students to succeed he would do more. There is nothing redeemable I can say about this class, he grades so incredibly hard and this is a 101 CLASS. I wish I listened to the other students.
Bell is rude and doesn't care about teaching. Good luck if you want to set up an online meeting with him during office hours. He won't respond. He contradicts himself a lot when it comes to assignment directions and grading. Whatever he asked you to do, it's not what he wants; he will always find an excuse to give you a lower grade.
When I took Communions 101 it was a hybrid class, we only met two times out of the semester. You had to be on top of ALL your work. There were a lot of speeches that were due, but you had to film them nothing was ever in person. I struggled to get hold of him for any questions, which was frustrating at times. He is a hard grader and takes forever.
Professor AB's COM101 course is challenging, but rewarding. The workload is heavy, but by engaging with the textbook, attending study sessions, and using resources like ChatGPT and unstuckstudy, you can succeed. A tough grader, but fair. Worth the effort.
I'm taking this class !! and I wish I knew about RMP before my decision. No provided textbook. No graded on time which makes me screaming rn, cuz how else can I know I did good or bad to make up for next assignment???. Professor bell can be a bit rude and unclear most of the time. The work is alright I guess. He does take forever to grade though. Respond to emails very late too. Definitely wouldn't take this class again🤷🏻‍♀️.
He answers his emails whenever he feels like it, grades his assignments very late, and is very tough for no reason. If I could go back, I would definitely choose somebody else.
I took a 8 week course and it was definitely fast paced! This class was actually really easy,you just have to deal with it and push through, he's actually trying to teach us and push us out of our comfort zone with the videos. I ended up with a 101% in this class. He does take time to grade but if you follow directions you should be perfectly fine!
I took this Hybrid class so I had time to go to class and not go to class, mostly doing homework at home. He didn't reply to messages when I asked about homework. There were also some exercises that were quite tiring, but overall this class was hybrid so I didn't need to go to class, and there was a lot of homework.
Incorrectly grades things and when you provide proof, he ignores you. Grades way too harshly. Terrible comm. skills which seems ironic given it's a comm. course. Arrogant and gives you no respect whatsoever. IF he replies to you, it's unpleasant. Assigned diff book than the one CSN designated: no excuses/mistakes allowed except for his own. Avoid
He was the worst professor I've ever had. he wouldn't grade things until the very end, and if you didn't label things exactly to par, he would give you a zero. He never responded to emails to answer questions, and it was the first class I am preparing to drop.
Arnold Bell is a joke, I was a 4.0 student and still struggled hard to get the grade I deserve in a COM101 class... Arnold Bell will tell you to do one thing in his assignment and then dock you for doing what he said to do. Then when you message him, will not reply. Gives 0s like they are candy for minor mistakes. DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS.
Back in 2017, he was very dismissive and not a good professor. Dropped this class fairly quickly due to his lack of communication. Don't waste your time with this professor. Save your money and time and pick someone else. I got an A with Amy Hutchinson in Com101, and she was a good professor.
Part 1: Professor Bell was one of the least responsive instructors I've had. I sent multiple emails about assignments and grading with no reply, even when deadlines were approaching. It made it extremely stressful to stay on track and succeed in the class. I tried to communicate respectfully and gave him plenty of time to respond.
Part 2 Unfortunately, the lack of support and feedback had a real impact on my experience. The content of the class wasn't the problem — it was the communication (or lack of it) that made this course difficult to navigate. I would not recommend this class if you expect timely feedback, clarity, or any meaningful interaction.
Arnold Bell is genuinely the worst professor I have ever taken a class with. He is condescending, horrible with communication, and extremely unhelpful. I had technical difficulties uploading a assignment and he failed me for it without allowing me to fix it. Would not recommend. If you want to pass this class be prepared for the worst.
Provides clear and constructive feedback. Assignments are well-organized and easy to follow, with manageable difficulty overall. While I didn't personally connect with some of the topics, the tests were straightforward. I found the recorded assignments challenging due to being camera-shy.

I'm an all A and B+ student, and within two weeks I was failing this class. Despite giving it all my effort. It's plain to me that this person cares little for actually educating their students.

Do not take. Hes a tough and horrible grader. He will take forever to grade assignments and NEVER responds to emails and/ or messages. No help at all and nit picks everything after not answering questions. When he does respond he's condescending as if his instructions aren't extremely unclear.
PART ONE I'm an all-A student, and his class was so extreme. He was rude, and his instructions were not clear. He was an awful grader, and when you received feedback, he would be dismissive (if you were lucky to get an email back). I had to call the board to get his man to respond to my emails (I sent 12 in 2 months, zero response)
PART TWO, and with that, I felt like I got punished. Now, when I look at my transcript, his class and his unfair grade will haunt me forever and mess up my chances of future scholarships when I continue my education. PLEASE don't take him, I promise you he's not worth it
