I really enjoyed his class and found his tests very reasonable. Get involved and it's really fun! He's very blunt which can scare some people, but I found him refreshing and funny.

Mr. Cera is the man! he is really enthusiatic and he's explains things pretty well and if you don't get it he'll have no problem explaining it to you until you do. he's funny and friendly, so if you get him as a teacher be damn happy. he's way better then crapola masilamani the poli sci teacher lol

A teacher with SUBSTANCE. Dr. Cera is fun, meaningful and serious all at the same time. He brings the text book to life, by using discussion in class, giving people the opportunity to really think about what they are studying rather than just memorizing a bunch of words. A very informative class!

The greatest teacher in 5 year post sec. ed. A life changing teacher - brilliant and engaging. It doesn't get much better than Dr. Cera. You would be lucky to have a class with him. Clear objectives, clear expectations, organized, interesting the perfect prof. for a first year student.

Dr. Cera is an amazing prof. I laugh so hard in his classes, love his sense of humor. Very clear and realistic on expectations. challenges the class. Turn your cell phone off, he'll kick you out. He encourages questions. Great prof!

First off, Dr.Cera is a very blunt individual. But he's very passionate about his subject and clear. He gets straight to the point and gets the class to participate (sometimes by odd means) and is just an awesome guy. You wont want to miss a class.. its just too interesting!! HIGHLY SUGGEST HIM!!

I LOVE CERA. He looks like an adorable old puppy. His lectures are awesome (the only problem I have is that they're oral) and his tests are M/C and there's one group paper. He never beats around the bush and he swears all the ****ing time. He fits in with the class without trying. He's helpful if you ask for his help. Overall, AMAZING. TAKE HIM!!!

Cera is a fantastic teacher. I'm bummed I won't be able to take him for 1200 next semester. It seems effortless the way he's able to engage the entire class. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of the class outline, you will enjoy his class. I absolutely recommend him, 100%.

Easy class, pretty fun, but sometimes he randomly asks you to answer a question and puts you on the spot. Also, the group paper sucks if you have slackers in your group cuz if you want a good mark on it, you'll end up doing all the work.

Good guy. No offense but he looks like a cartoon bulldog, especially when he makes a face. Swears a lot. Funny and engaging. Really tries to help u understand the more difficult concepts. Highlly recommended.

Dr. Cera's lectures were always interesting and never boring! you would WANT to go to his lectures just to be entertained lol. Studying from the textbook and STUDY GUIDE is your best bet for doing well in this course. LOTS of terms and definitions to remember and there is one GROUP APA paper u have to write. easy course, just study.

Awesome! He is absolutely hilarious and for sure will hold your interest for the entire lecture. He is very clear and knows how to explain things so you will understand and makes it easy to take notes. Also doesn't mind repeating things. Not a lot of guidance on the paper though,you're pretty much on your own. Do the online practice quizes!

Cera is the best! He makes his classes fun and interesting, and he's friggin' hilarious! Swears a lot, but it's like his trading mark lol, and so is his mullet ;). Loved his all mc tests. I didn't do that well on the APA project,but I don't think that was entirely my fault as it was agroup project ;). Other than that awesome class!

Good teacher but scared the crap outta me when I forgot a pencil for the exam. Also was really condescending about the essay and told me I'd get a really bad grade if I "hadn't started it yet". I got an A on the essay and I wrote it the night before.

Arnold is awesome; he has passion for his subject and tries his best to instill some of that passion in his students. He's witty and as long as you do the required reading, take notes, and attend all of the classes, you're practically guarenteed an A.

Cera is an engaging and often entertaining instructor. He makes everything extremely clear and often uses stark examples in his explanations. He usually ends class around 20 minutes early. He is also prone to swearing. If you are having trouble understanding any part of the unit the class is examining, he will answer any questions you have.

awesome teacher! deff made the class great because he's hilarious and very laid back. I barely did any readings and got a C+ so If you did all the readings you should ace it no problem. He swears a lot but that's part of his character.

Wonderful teacher! Great sense of humor, takes genuine interest in his students and definitely knows his subjects. Lectures are straight from the textbook, little note-taking was required. Makes the subject interesting! Gets impatient with students who won't contribute in discussions. Few assignments, tests were VERY easy. Turn your cell off.

Great teacher, likes to tell jokes + swears a fair amount, but is a really, really nice guy. Tests aren't hard if you study, all material is from textbook. Usually lets class out early. Major assignment is a plan/essay, start early or else! Paper can be difficult, ask if you're stuck. Pick a good topic that relates to you, don't leave to last minut

One of the best proffessors I've ever had. His marking is unbiased.. you get what you studied for which is great. His sense of humour makes the class painless... he involves the class without picking on people (one of the only classes where people wanted to VOLUNTEER to talk..) he knows his stuff and has no problem explaining using many examples!

Going to class is completely unnecessary. I just go once in a while to see when the tests are and what chapter he's on. If you read the chapters you'll do well. I don't like how he makes people who volunteer answers look/feel stupid. Tests are all multiple choice and straight from the textbook.

I had him for 1100 and 1200, his lectures are interesting and enjoyable, he makes people participate. all his tests are based almost completely on the textbook and were all multiple choice, so if you do the workbook you're golden

Who knew a 3hr lecture could be interesting. He talks WITH the class when he lectures which means, yes, he might pick you out and ask you a question but his sense of humor and chill attitude wont make you nervous a few classes in. Just read the text before class and listen to the lecture and you'll do awesome. Taking notes is a waste of your time

One of the funniest prof's I've had, his lectures are really engaging and it makes you want to go to class. You will learn quite a bit from this man so I highly recommend taking a class with him. Read the text and do the study guide and you'll ace the exams.

He was quite scary at times, but he can also be flexible if you talk to him strategically enough. The second half of the semester was entirely composed of student presentations (2 hours for each group of 2) and all presented material was testable, which wasn't fun. No textbook was used, but at times we wished there was one.

Took an intro psyc course at SFU last fall, was interested and didnt get credits so I decided to take it at Douglas. Cera taught it 100% better than my uni prof. He engages you and likes when you have questions. Tests are fair if you study the textbook and vocab. He's sarcastic and a smart ass but interesting and helpful!

Absolutely love this guy! Intimidating the first day. Does not write notes. I highly recommend you bring a laptop to keep up with him. Engages his students in conversations, and asks what you are thinking.

Honestly, I won't forget Cera. He walked into the class looking a bit like a grumpy older man.. but then he caught us all with his brilliant sense of humor and teaching skills. If you are interested in PSYC, take it with him! He's just awesome! :D Took both years with him! I had to!

Cera is such a funny guy! He always make the class lectures interesting and he wants everyone to be involved in class. He doesn't have notes or ppt so you will need to be focused in class :) Tests all multiple-choice, but you will need to study with the textbook if you want to do well.

Engaging, funny as hell, Dr. Cera makes the 2.5 hour class look like 15 minutes (no kidding!). Vast experience and lots of knowledge. Strongly recommend ask question or lead to a class discussion on any given "hot" psychosocial issue - guarranteed he will give you a perspective to blow your mind away! Good prof, probably the best so far.

Great instructor. Thought he would be a grumpy old guy, but turned out to be a rather entertaining and knowledgeable person. He doesn't beat around the bush, which is refreshing, makes some good comments. Tests are all multiple choice, if you study all the definitions and do the practice questions, its a gaurantee to get above 80%.

His class structure is a lecture for the entire class that is interesting in my opinion. Your whole mark is bassically bassed off of 2 "quizzes" each worth 40%. If you study and know your stuff you will do fine. One research paper for 10% that was just a summary of a article, easy to get 10/10 on. Study lecture notes and textbook and you'll be fine

11001200: hot & cold with Cera, had him for 1100 & I showed up to every lecture to realise that he goes off right out of the text & talks so fast that it was impossible to write anything down. Tests are worth 40% highly suggest doing on-line quizzes over & over. Better off writing your own notes at home & showing up to class as a refresher

Loved every moment of the class. Dr. Cera is to the point on his Lectures. Just saddened by him not teaching 2300.

Easy to pass as long as you study

Arnold is a grumpy old man with a good sense of humour. He delivers interesting lectures that never bore, and never last too long. I'm not sure he wants to be there, but he makes the best of it. His tests are worth most of the grade. I recommend him!

He's a cool guy, and super knowledgeable. His lectures are usually the textbook chapters summarized, so as long as you listen and read the textbook you should do alright on the tests. Dr. Cera is pretty great at lecturing and keeping your attention so that's definitely a plus.

Really funny and interesting, he keeps you entertained. Beware when taking this class, he always calls on students for answers and he will put you on the spot and embarrass you. He almost always shortens the 3 hour class to a 2 hour.

He has great character and will make the course engaging. Read the chapters, take notes and prepare for the very large exams. You'll be fine!

Overall, Cera is a good prof. His lectures are entertaining and interesting, he is a really funny guy and explains concepts well. However, like most profs, he does not cover a lot of terms. 2 exams worth 40% that are EXTREMELY hard. 1 written assignment and one last test worth each 10%. Study for the tests or you won't pass.

Good professor, lectures are entertaining as he is a really funny guy. However, be prepared to be embarrassed in front of your whole class, he calls on people NON STOP and if you don't know the answer or don't have any opinion on the topic of discussion he'll wait for you to answer and just stare at you. Exams are very hard!

He is the smartest guy; he knows that how he make you study very hard and how he make you give him all attention to his lecture . Also he has open mind and funny . He plays so well that you will enjoy his lettcture. His mid term is Extremely hard but you will be fine . Because after midterm , you will study line by line with your whole heart.

His tests are straight forward and all you really need to know is the definitions. make sure you hand everything in however, i forgot the final paper at home and got a zero without a second glance. come prepared to talk and read the material

Class was awesome, this is the only class I had no trouble with staying awake in. He made it interesting and entertaining. He's funny and his bluntness is awesome, if you appreciate sarcasm. He calls on students a lot but as long as you listen and follow along its fine. He wants students to join in on discussions and give opinions. Never boring!

Hilarious guy, made lectures fun, but be prepared for him to call on you! Classmates of mine said they found lectures boring, but If you have an interest in Psychology, you'll find the lectures just as engaging as I did. Tests are straight forward as long as you read the textbook. The only thing I didn't like was the 'group' term paper.

One of my favourite teachers at Douglas. He was recommended to me by a friend and you should take his class. Be prepared to talk in class as he will call on students to participate. Tests are mainly based on the vocab he gives and their concepts. One group project (paper and presentation) worth 20%, easy to get if you just follow his instructions.

Arnolds grumpy schtick is brilliant. His lectures are engaging & often hilarious. I enjoyed how much he attempts to involve every student in the class. I learned a lot and received a good grade.

Arnold is great but it really depends on your own personal learning style! If you prefer a more structured lecture with visual powerpoint slides and diagrams, then this is not the prof for you! Arnold's lectures are much more interactive and discussion based. If you read the textbook you will do fine on his tests!

Such a great professor! Enjoyed the humour put into the lectures, really well explained topics and chapters. Show up to class, there is extra info in the lectures that isn't in the textbook and the lectures aren't posted. Overall The 4 quizzes through the semester were fine you just need to know your stuff and you will do amazing. Loved this class!

Arnold is my favourite professor so far. Don't be mistaken by the constantly angry look on his face, he's super nice and bloody hilarious. Enjoyed this course, just show up, listen, and write some notes. 4 quizzes throughout the entire semester and they aren't really hard if you know your stuff. Highly recommend him.

Super funny guy. I was very intimidated by him in the beginning of the year but he is truly a great guy. had 4 test and 1 writing assignment for this class. Keep up with the textbook it helps alot. Lots of discussions in class and he may call on you but dont be scared hes just trying to help you focus. 10/10 would take another class of his!!

Super engaging and hilarious. he makes the content applicable to us. don't miss his lectures because he goes through all key terms that will be on the exams. he seems intimidating but i respect his experience and ability to teach. be prepared because he calls on people sporadically.

Straightforward, really funny, good lectures, if you care then he will care

Arnold is a really funny guy, his lectures are engaging and interesting. No powerpoints, he just lectures by reading off a list of "key concepts" he makes for each week. Make sure you read the textbook too because his quizzes can be tough and include more than what he lectures on. Your grade depends solely on 4 quizzes (90%) and one paper (10%).

Tough but fair grader. Has a grumpy demeanor, but is funny. Often goes into entertaining anecdotes about subjects. Sometimes gets too opinionated, and I found that some of what he said what misleading.

Arnold has a fun personality and works hard to answer questions, he isn't the most tech savvy but he does his best to understand. A great experience overall even though his quizzes are a little tricky.

He's funny and makes the lecture interesting. He loves it when students in online class turn on their mic and converse with him. He never bothers to read the text messages in the online class.

All I can say is if you have a heavy course load and are looking to take PSYC 1200 as an elective, take it with Arnold Cera. Weekly classes arent mandatory and the only thing you really need to show up for is the exams. Just read the textbook and take notes, listen to the weekly lectures, write a couple exams, a paper and youre done.

Dr. Cera was a hilarious prof. Your grade solely depends on 4 exams and one written assignment. If you do the readings, attend class and listen to the lectures, you should do fine in the course. His exams were straightforward, but there were a few tricky questions. He makes it very clear that he does not care if you pass or fail his class.

Such a nice guy and really understanding. He gives you plenty of time for assignments and is a fair marker. Quizzes are fairly difficult but you will do fine if you study. The class was not mandatory to attend but the quizzes depend on class participation so if you want the quizzes to be multiple choice i would attend class and ask questions.

The course is pretty easy and Dr. Cera will reward the class if they participate by making the quizzes easier. The only downside is that Dr. Cera is technologically inept and has a poor internet connection which was frustrating at times, although lectures were not mandatory. He can also be strongly opinionated. Oh well...easy A if you study hard.

Take him if you can. 4 tests are all multiple choice, like others have said below if you participate in class he will make them easier. His lectures are really good and interesting. If you participate he always appreciates it and makes you feel heard.

probaby one of my favourite profs in college so far! since this is a psyc class, there was a lot of reading to do but they were interesting topics [imo]. we didn't have a midterm or final exam but we had to write a paper and had chapter quizzes. he would make the quiz all MC if students participated in class discussions or asked him questions.

Take this prof if you can. He gives 4 multiple choice tests/quizzes online it was based on discussion during lectures. There is one assignment, and alot of readings, but he is very accessible outside the classroom environment. He takes his time to help the students out. I wish he teach some of my other instructors on how to teach!

Dr Cera is the best psych professor out of all the psych classes I have taken. The exams are taken online at home and there is no class on test days. Most classes end early and his lectures are very engaging.

The only people complaining did not listen to him in lecture. He is very straightforward and will tell you the answers for the quizzes are from the text book and if you read them and study the terms a couple of times you will get an A. He expects his students not to just sit there and stare at him but actually think and participate. Great Teacher!!

He actually cares and puts effort into making his classes enjoyable. His tests are pretty good if you read the textbook and the notes. If you take his class be prepared to read the textbook and his notes tho cause he will test you on them. Very hard marker on the writing assignment though.

The multiple choice tests, although he says are "easier" some of the questions make ZERO sense. So watch out. He won't tell you, but you can do extra credit through SONA on Blackboard and you'll get an extra 3%. The one assignment is easy but he knocks off 5% PER mistake. And when in class, you MUST answer EVERY question. Overall, good teacher.

He was a really good teacher and his lectures were really good and not boring. I took him online. HIs test were really easy and straightforward if you read the textbook. I would really recommend him for psychology 1200 online.

Professor Cera has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class works well. Stay focused, read the textbook, and use tools like Unstuck ai to ace the exams. The workload is heavy, but the content is interesting if you put in the effort.
