Easy class if you organize notes well. recommend making an index to the bookboo
the guy who said he was easy is a liar! hes hard & its useless to ask him ques.
HE IS THE ONLY TEACHER I KNOW THAT REFUSES TO HELP STUDENTS AFTER CLASS. HE TELLS YOU NOT TO BOTHER HIM BY EMAILING HIM, STATES THAT ALL QUESTIONS CAN BE ANSWERED AT THE WEBSITE, AND IF YOU DO ASK A QUESTION, HE TELLS YOU HOW DUMB YOU ARE. IM NOT KIDDING.
It's all open book tests. Open notes too, however, he only takes questions at the beginning of class. the exams are only 20 questions. Unless you do absolutely nothing to prepare for the exams you should ace them. you basically teach your self.
it is an easy class only if you are organized.all open book and only 20 questions. all notes are online, so going to class is useless, but MUST GO TO REVIEW SESSION LECTURES . whoever said he does not help out his students is completely correct.
He can't teach.
I had him back in the mid 80's. Easy class. He always wore the same clothes every lecture. Kind of weird.
He's the worst! He is unclear, unhelpful, and very condesceding when you ask for clarification or help. He did NOT make me want to get up at the crack of dawn to hear his nonsense. The way he ran down the stairs to begin every class was hilarious.
His class is so boring, he talks so low you can't hear him. Their are open book exams and no cumalitive final. Its just so hard to stay awake and take him seriously.
Yeah so i dropped the class after day 3. i dont understand how he can teach mem and attn when he lacks both... not to be mean or anything but the man reminds me of a slow **** version of geraldo .. actually thats an insult to ****s and geraldo .. drop
You won't do well in this class if you are not interested in the material. He's definitely moody, but most of the kids in the class act like jerks. Go to the exam review if you want to get a decent grade, the slides are no help unless you go to class.
I've learned one thing in this class: Bad memories are harder to forget then good ones. It's a shame I won't forget this class. He is unapproachable, arrogant, and pretentious. Don't even attempt to defy him, he'll make it his initiative to fail you
go to class, print slides, take notes, dont buy book. dont ask any questions, dont try to dispute any answers to the exams even when he tells you to, because he won't listen and you'll just get mad.
Had this class in 1986! Thought the material was great. The tests were like logic puzzles...open book/notes. It was a huge class, but I loved it. Understand CONCEPTS, and get an A. Memorize info and fail.
This guy is a grade-A jerk. Don't take him seriously. However, go to his so-called test reviews and get yourself and easy "A"
Glass is a cool guy. Everyone hates him for some reason, but they are all probably the kids in class who act like total jackasses and talk the whole time. I liked this class because the notes were easily accessible online and the prof knows his stuff.
If you can't get a good grade with three tests, multiple choice, open book, don't take the class. He can be a jerk, doesn't answer STUPID questions, all notes from lectures online and he really knows his stuff. Interesting and easy.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. HE is an IDIOT.
"DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. HE is an IDIOT." Damn with reviewa like this now I HAVE to take this class!!
Prof. Glass is very unapproachable, he doesn't really want to answer or listen to your questions. can't just memorize the material, must scrutinize over concepts in the book. exams are really hard if your taking other classes. too time consuming
DOOFY is very unapproachable & his open book, open notes tests are hard... took the class over the summer and got a B, but w/ much studying... would NOT recommend it to anyone
This guy is a moron. He ignores the students and talks down to you. His test are open notebook but yet they are hard as hell. You take this guy study.
i didnt have a class with glass. but being that he is the head of the department, i have needed his assistance on several matters- and he is the most unhelpful, nasty person i have ever come in contact with. "too bad" is not an answer the head of the department should give. good luck if you have him
WARNING: DON'T TAKE MEMORY & ATTENTION! he is SO pompous & will take a point off your final grade if you ask a question thats in the textbook or that he's already answered. the tests are 22 mult. choice open notes, but they're IMPOSSIBLE! don't say i didn't warn you.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Glass is a jerk.. yes, the tests are open book and nb but the questions are not covered in the book or in the review. He makes anyone who asks a question feel stupid and he is boring. Doesn't seem bright, often forgets what he's talking about. Don't destroy your GPA.
Horrible doesn't begin to discribe. This Prof. looks like a special ed student. He wrote the pointless and useless book. Open book exams suck, asks questions that have no answers. Classes are extrememly boring, bring the Medium with you for ent.
WORST PROF EVER..that just about sums it up
Looking for an easy A? Look elsewhere! Test are hard, but he knows his stuff, and is enthusiastic.I didnt see any of the arrogance that others have mentioned, he was helpful to me, and answered questions in class without exception.
Prof neither warm nor fuzzy, & a bit of an odd duck, but knowledgeable and willing to answer any question. Lack of scheduled office hrs a big minus; material can be challenging, but very interesting. Don't think that "open book test" means you can get away w/o studying. Tests tough but manageable.
HE IS SO ****ING BORING. Speaks w/monotone. Everyone sleeps in that class. He knows material very well but not very good at teaching it. Speaks as if we already know what he's talking about & fast, doesn't use good examples. Open book tests.. they're OK. Book doesn't help. Lecture slides do.
Oh my god. He's so bad its laughable. Rude, arrogant, anti-social are just a few of the words I can think of to describe him. But the worst is, I really don't think he cares about anybody but himself. A course to AVOID!
do not take this class with him if possible, he is not only rude, but he really is not helpful at all. exams are tricky even tho they r open book, def avoid this professor!
Posts all the notes online and is hilarious
This guy is so funny. His exams are easy if you attend class and try to listen. Didn't even study a cumulative hour the entire semester and still got a B. Funny guy too.
Professor Glass is intelligent, willing to help his students and a VERY nice guy. Understanding that he socially quirky and not like every other person you meet- not arrogant or mean, will help you in this class. Go to his office, be courteous- he will help you understand the material (which isn't the easiest!). Oh yeah- he loves animals!
This was one of the most horrible classes I have ever taken. He wrote the book himself and it makes no sense. The only person that could understand it is that little voice that follows him around in his head! He is very akward and unapproachable. His practice tests were somewhat helpful but his material is too scattered.
Where do i begin...he wrote the book himself with pitures and all...except they are all in varying degrees of black and grey which makes them completely unreadable. He is also extreamly rude to students who come to him with problems. He speeks with a monotone (almost ****en) ton which eitehr maked you laugh or puts u to sleep. dont bother takin it
He's pretty boring and and is a real doofy guy. His exams are 24 multiple choice questions open book, but they're not that easy. If you don't go to class and take good notes you wont do well. The only thing good is that he gives you like a 15 point curve, and 85% is an A amd 70% B, etc.
Prof has piss-poor attitude helping students ala answering ?s during lecture & it becomes VERY evident during exams before you even enter. "Can't find your seat, what are you a moron, an idiot, a screw-up...?" Exams are open-book/notes (but book-by him-has no index). If perfect attendance an "A" will replace one exam grade. He needs anger mngmnt.
This guy is miserable, and he wants you to be too. If you ask him questions he will basically tell you to F-off. The wording of the questions of his tests are confusing and the book is useless. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Glass is probably the worst psych professor i've had at rutgers. He makes learning the material very difficult. His lecture slides often do no correspond to the book, so it's very difficult to know what to study for the exam. Even though the exam is open book, he makes the exams to the point where the book won't help you at all. The material in the
If you read the book and go to lecture, you can definately get a B or an A in this class. Print the notes off the website before class and take notes on what he says in addition to his notes. He speaks monotone, so try to stay awake. Not as terrible as everyone else seems to think.
you want an easy A for this class, all the questions on the first 3 exams are on the final. THE EXACT SAME QUESTIONS!! since the exam is open book, copy down the quesitons from each exam. He tells you all the answers after you take it. So now you have the answers to the final which is worth 50% of you grade.
He is definately not helpful to students... he actually gets upset when you ask a question and treats you like your an idiot... he makes no sense when he teaches, either... he is obviously intelligent (he wrote the book for the class), but he definately not have a way with words... the tests are all open book but it barely helps on most questions.
Most Miserable man Ive ever seen. The questions on his exams are confusing and misleading. If you ask him questions he will tell you to F-off. I hate this man with a passion

Easy class to pass, but I would not recommend him at all if you want to enjoy getting an education. He comes across as vain, he needs to lighten up, he needs to get a new textbook (He wrote it himself, but that doesn't make it any good), and finally, he needs to make his coursework a little more intensive. This isn't high school.
The class is easy, but this guy is one of the rudest professors I've ever seen. I'm surprised he still has a job. He actually yells at students and TA's, calling them insults. Attendance is mandatoty because he does the clicker, but you can just have a friend click you in. The textbook isn't necessary, just study the notes he posts online.
He's not that bad..yeah sometimes especially in the beginning of the semester, he gets really agitated when people take up the last two rows in the back because the class gets filled & ppl who come in late need a place to sit, so he'll start yelling about it. But if your read the notes, and take the practice exams, you should be fine.
I never had him as a professor, but I have to rate his Cognition book that he wrote. It's pretty much student unfriendly. It's dry and unformatted. The index is pretty much useless, which is something I heavily rely on to go over concepts I don't understand. Based on his book, I'd never take any of his classes for the fear of reading it again.
Wretched, horrible, miserable, egotistical man. You don't want to know, trust me. Stay away far far far away from this man's classes, clickers, TA bashing ranting, raving... I could go on.
I had an excellent experience with him as a professor. If he comes off harsh or demeaning, he certainly does not mean to. You can't be intimidated by him, he is actually very interested in helping his students understand material and seeing them do really well. I suggest going into the class knowing that he has an earnest interest in teaching you.
He wrote his own textbook..and its probably one of the most confusing textbooks i've ever had to read. stay away.
This guy claims to care about students saving money with a "rebate" for the clicker he uses, WHEN HE USES A CUSTOMIZED VERSION OF HIS OWN BOOK! this means he gets fresh sales every semester because bookstores can't buy back his book! He has a sneaky deal with the publisher, very rude too!!!
One of the worst professors I have had at Rutgers. Reasons why: reads straight off slides, doesn't attempt to make material interesting, obnoxious attitude when students ask questions, and his textbook was horribly written (not student friendly). My advice: find another professor!
The book is not a fun read, but you might want it to take quizzes. He gives on-line quizzes before every class and then asks them again with a clicker in class. Clicker is attendance. Quiz questions and clicker questions make up the 3 exams. Then the final is questions seen on previous exams. Over all okay class, easy A
I've taken several Psych classes at RU. The guy is a complete RUDE goofball w/ as much sense of style as he does on teaching. He is a very selfish professor who requires you to purchase a text book (he wrote) for $100. TERRIBLY WRITTEN. (he uses online quiz method so he can do research for a personal project. i read it, IT SUX. STAY AWAY..I PROMISE
he's not AS BAD as everyone says manners wise. however the class is very boring and he can NEVER EVER EVER EVERRRR get the clicker to work. half the time couldn't even get slides to work. once sat through class for 45 minutes before he told us to leave. the final is 50% of final grade and all old exam/quiz questions. go to the answer sessions!
this is not a class for anyone looking for an easy A. it requires tons of work if you want to do well on the exams. there are clicker quizzes inclass and online. the material in the beginning is more difficult than the later two sections. it is a doable class but you need to devote alot of time to do well
He's really not as bad as everyone says...the classes are boring and the book sucks, but the online quizzes and clicker questions only help your grade, it can't hurt. The final is 50% of your grade and the EXACT same questions as the other 3 exams, so if you go to the answer sessions after each exam you're def fine...dont even bother studying anyth
This class is SOOOO easy. It's almost too easy. If you are looking for a challenge, look elsewhere. The exams are the same as the online quizzes and clicker questions, just re-worded. The final is 50% of your grade and the questions are the same ones from the 3 exams. Go to the answer sessions for each exam and then you are set for the final.
This class is very challenging. He is a very poor communicator. I got a C on the first exam (just barely) after I learned the con of memory psychology I got As on the subsequent exams. You must go to class and pay attention a lot of the things he says in lecture will be found on exams, if they are not on quizzes.
I'm taking the class right now, and am staring at straight As on the exams (with, and I kid you not, 1 hour's worth of studying for each exam). Just because his book sucks and the lectures are ridiculously boring doesn't mean the class is tough. The questions he uses for his exams are IDENTICAL to the in-class and online ones...
(Continued from below)...The "easiness" rating for this prof is very skewed. For those of you planning to take this class, consider the fact that (for example, the guy below me) people are giving an easiness rating of "1" when they are explicitly claiming to be getting As on the second and final exams...So yeah. Bad prof, bad book, but EASY A.
Currently in the class and just took the first exam;if you do the online quizzes and then study the clicker and online questions and understand them, you can get an A no problem. Downfall is Glass is the biggest ****bag **** professor I have ever met in my life. He wastes time, is always annoyed, and screams excessively at any chance he gets.
Professor Glass is, hands down, the best professor teaching at Rutgers. The comments people have left here are ridiculous and false. He is beyond intelligent and clear in how he presents the material and, more importantly, one of the nicest and most understanding people I have met. He allowed me to take an exam a day early, no questions asked.
Great professor, highly recommended.
memory class: he is weird and can be mean at times but the class is easy. the exams are just the online quizzes and clicker questions from the semester
Reminds me of Doofy from Scary Movie o_O but the course is not hard. Exams are clicker ques & online quiz ques. Study them & get an A
Glass in an ok professor. There were 3 exams (clicker-based) & 1 final (clicker and written-based). If you attend class & take online quizzes, he uses the same or near-similar clicker questions on the exams. Overall, not a hard class at all. Just make sure you attend class and record all the clicker questions and take all online Sakai quizzes.
He's a good professor. If you do the readings, you should be okay. Lecture quizzes everyday throughout the entire class. Make sure you do your readings and pay attention in class, if you do, the class will be really easy. I got a B+. The class is really easy.
Taking this class in the summer is a big risk. There are 2 professors teaching this course. The professor does not explain how the grading works very clearly. You are always confused about what is going to be graded and what is not.
Not the nicest or the most approachable guy but definitely an easy course and you actually can learn some useful techniques to memorize things if you pay attention in class. That's really all you have to do to get an A in the class. His exams are the online quizzes and in class questions reworded. Convinced this class is just an experiment for him.
he is terrible. he doesnt even write the questions numbers during mid term. and clicker scoring is just a mess for his class.
He doesn't actually care about teaching. Only 1 out of 5 of his "goals" for the class involve cognition; the others involve training you to behave during class. All his exams are clicker exams, which sounds fantastic at first but is actually an awful experience. Unless you have a high tolerance for inefficiency, avoid this professor.
One of the worst professors I have ever had the misfortune to have. Incompetent and intolerable, treats us like guinea pigs for his clicker exams so he can publish papers on the validity of clicker exams.
I don't wear my seatbelt driving to school because I want to die before making it to this class.
The class itself is easy--got a B+, just study the clicker questions and online quizzes. Gotta go to class--clicker quiz every time. Exams are clicker based.. did get messy for some, but I had no issues. Yes, he is a horrible professor. His notes can be unclear, exams unorganized, and he's kinda unpleasent..
Took his Cognition class which was an interesting class. I personally wasnt thrilled about the clicker questions, but they were pretty much the exams. Questions were confusing and misleading, but an easy B+. Glass was a knowledgable professor who really knew his stuff, but kinda rambled on during lectures.
Worst experience in my life, that all.
Definitely the best professor, but not the worst either. textbook is useless, just use the online quiz questions, and in-class clicker questions to study for the exams and you'll be fine
Honestly, his class was easy. All the exam questions come from online homework and class clicker questions. He's not really the most pleasent, but whatever. Got a B+ with low effort cuz I studied last minute.
He's a bit strange, his questions aren't exactly as clear as I'd like and he tends to ramble a bit, but I really feel like I learned a lot from this guy when he actually focuses.
Took this class over the summer. As long as you complete the online quizzes and review them, it's not that bad. Make sure not to fall behind though, or else you're screwed. That being said, Glass was a decent professor. Not nearly as bad as the other reviews say. Just memorize the answers to the online homeworks and you're set.
I am sitting in class right now and I have to focus all of my attention trying to decode is mumbling and slurred words. He speaks over students and his voice is hard to listen to not appealing. He doesn't look interested in what he's teaching.
Highly disorganized with instructions and expectations of students which led to mass confusion and frustration. Not one of the best class experiences, but you'll learn a lot if you take it upon yourself to do the required research for your project. The class and grade is based on a single project.
Took him for Cognition. 3 exams and 1 cumulative final were ALL timed, clicker questions. Only having 60 to 30 seconds to answer a question is the most stressful experience I've had. Online quizzes and in class clicker questions don't count for much but can boost your grade. Boring lecturer, but I did learn a lot. If only my grade reflected that.
Straight up here is how you get an A, Do the sakai quizzes, the answers are online, then memorize and understand them. Exams are reworded but similar. No joke, i swear. And the final has the SAME questions from the midterms, word for word. Just memorize the exam answers. maybe take pics if you are slick. I promise this class hands you the A.
He is absolutely wonderful and incredibly intelligent. He is a little boring at first, but I promise you, he's amazing. Take the online Sakai quizzes, go to class & answer the clicker questions, know these questions, they'll be the same as your exams, just reworded. He truly wants everyone to do well. I loved having him as a professor.
Has one of the best grading systems I have ever seen. Straightforward tests and clear directions, as long as you do your reading and study for the exam, you should be okay. You have to actively try to fail this class, its that easy to do well.
Has serious issues he likes to micromanage. If you dare to be on your laptop or put your feet by the seat in front of you he will call you out in front of the whole class. He WILL individually ask everyone to close their laptops and takes points off your grade if you ask a question that he answers on the syllabus RUN AWAY FROM THIS MAN HE'S INSANE
He is not helpful when you have an issue. You must have a laptop. Everything is timed. Everything is online. Makes you buy the book and just reads off his slides which arent fully posted on Sakai.
Everything is short timed. So much pressure. Two exams in one week. Lots of homework. Boring lectures.
I don't know why all the previous responses are so salty. First, attendance isn't required. I literally read the power points, nothing else, and went to exams and got an A. If you aren't getting an A, it's really easy to boost your grade, if you do the hw, or show up to lecture that score (if higher than exam) is averaged in to your exam grade.
I don't know why his ratings are so low. I took him Fall 2016 and LOVED him. He wrote the textbook & is SO knowledgable. By making sure we actually learn the material; not just regurgitating it, you actually learn. His grading system is made to help you succeed. He really cares for his students & LOVES the subject.
The material itself is difficult. The textbook, written by the prof., is well written and clear. You do the assigned reading before class, learn the material more thoroughly in class, and then have quizzes during and after class, which reinforce the material. A great way to really learn the material, which means easier and less studying for exams.
Horrible, inconsiderate, and unapproachable professor. Just take a look at his syllabus for his "Cognitition" class and you will see what I mean.
A really nice, misunderstood professor. His exams are fine because its just his homework reworded. still need to study and make sure you understand the questions not just memorize them . HW/lecture quizzes are extra credit if you do better on them than exams. The final is really straightforward as well since he reuses questions. He is very fair.
I have never gone out of my way to write a negative review on a professor - even professors I may not necessarily like, I can understand their approach to teaching for the most part. The questions on the exam are almost never like the questions in the review, and questions/answer selections are worded in the most convoluted way possible. 0/0
As far as the exams go, read the powerpoints and go over quiz questions and you'll get an A. The only complaint I had about this class is that he gives a lot of online quizzes (4 a week, in class and online). They are timed quizzes and trust me you need the whole time to do them, if you run out of time you get a zero.
Im sure there are people who love him. But for me he was annoying, constantly tooted his own horn about his book that no one used bc its expensive and yelled at me everyday about the laptop I had accomodations for that he knew about. Bans electronics but requires them for in class quizzes that never worked. Take anyone else, youll get more outta it
He really cares for his students
Prof Glass didn't really seem interested in teaching the class. His synchronous lectures were online and his internet connection was always bad and he always refused to record the lectures for people who couldn't make it. Other than that, he gives good feedback and welcomes questions.
I had him for Cognition. Solid overall, but lectures can get boring. It's just large intakes of information that you later have to apply on the tests. But, he is understanding and ALWAYS is willing to go back a few slides, slow down for the class, or clarify something that wasn't clear. Solid professor overall.
a1 prof. had him for cognition and it was probably my favorite class that ive taken so far. he cares about his students and wants you to pass, and he sets up the course to make it easy for you to do so, the rest is on you. he also wrote the textbook so not only is he pretty dedicated to the subject and to teaching but also beyond qualified
If you attend ALL lectures, you will get an easy A. He reuses questions from lecture on the exams (word for word), and reuses questions from weekly quizzes. His lectures are boring at times, but he really cares about the subject. All I did was go to class, do the quizzes, and restudy the questions the day before, and I got an A on every exam.
Horrible teaching approach. Incredibly boring and convoluted lectures, and his attitude doesn't help. Overall very pessimistic in his approach to teaching and clearly does not care for nor respect his students. Had no clear organization when it comes to the content in the course, making it incredibly difficult to study for exams which upsets him.
