Dr. Guerra is a good man and hes probably a better soccer player than you. The truth hurts.
Very cool teacher. 5 Exams gives extra credit. gives u review questions for each exam (very helpful). Explains things pretty clearly. yeah he probably plays soccer better then me. : )
awsome teach one of the better for algebra phys. this class is easy if you have half a brain.
Dr. Guerra is an awesome physics professor. His lectures are so clear and the labs are fun. he is always there to help. i would definately recomend him for the subject!
This is one of the greats, you can't go wrong taking this guy's course. He's helpful insrtructive and has a funny accent that keeps you focused.
PRETTY STRAIGHT CLASS. NO HOMEWORK COLLECTED, ONLY EXAMS ARE COUNTED FOR. PRETTY HARD NOT TA GET AT LEAST A "B" IN THE CLASS.
Awesome professor. He's one of those guys that you could easily see yourself becoming friends with in or out of class. His accent is cool too because it makes his jokes funnier and at the same time is completely understandable. If you have a choice, take him, you won't regret it.
Pretty cool guy. You dont have to take notes because it's on his websites. all you have to do is print out. You can sleep during class and still get a "B". He goes over test questions right before the test. Some practice test questions are in the real test. If you study you'll get an "A"
really clear about everything and willing to help anyone who asks.
Mr.Guerra is a great professor but Physics 111 is boring. (110 is better.) You simply collect data and plug your numbers into some "magic" equations. Really, you don't even have to understand or know the concepts behind the lesson to finish and get your lab reports done. Take 110 instead if you can.
Dr. Guerra is definitely the best professor we've had throughout our years of OCC. He really cares about his students and he's the only professor that we would have in any class if we had a choice.
He's a cute funny kinda guy, passionate at what he teaches. A bit unclear for my taste, Wants his students to pass the class. Very relax. recommended for physic
Cool prof., relaxed atmosphere, lectures straight from his notes that he asks you to print out from his website. Test q's are based off his notes, little from book, and little from his study guide. Very easy lectures. Moderate to easy tests. Ex. Cr. assignment is avail. for 15pts. Overall good prof., cool accent, would def. take again n will.
quite funny as well as helpful. he's a silly little man but he is also one of the nicest people i've ever had the privelege of knowing. has an accent but you get used to it after about 15 minutes or so.
Study Homework answers - almost exact format for exams and quizzes.
One of the easier teachers to understand. I am a total right brained person and have no business anywhere near any kind of lab, only that it is required for general ed.. but he is very good about making you understand what he is trying to show you and teach you... he is always very helpful with questions and coming to him for help.... he is an awesome teacher
his lectures are clear and easy to understand. you should do well on exams as long as you study the notes. exams weren't difficult at all. very good teacher
Dont be mislead by others. This class can be difficult if you dont study.Questions on the exam are easy but difficult at the same time. Study your notes.Sometimes he gives you the answer before the test. He's really nice and very passionate about physics. his class is do-able if youre looking for a science class but don;t take my words for it.....**
this class is difficult! and he lectures like superman. can't even keep up with writing down lecture notes. other physics teachers curve grades.
His labs are easy.. some of them are tedius work..he's kind of picky about the units and stuff...
A very nice man, it's difficult to listen to him lecture as he tends to shout! Also, he simply reads from his notes, which are outlines of the chapters in the text...kinda dull. The tests are all multiple-choice but the questions can be tricky, so beware. It is very helpful to read the text!
He is a great teacher. He has got a good sense of humor which makes his classes interesting. The test reflects exactly what he goes over in class, plus the exercises that are in the book at the end of each chapter( you can get all the answer to the questions at the library).
arnold is an excellent teacher. he is funny also. he is very nice and the class is easy if you just follow along. there is homework but he does not collect it. you should do it anyways though..the answers are in the library
Please, it's not easy to find someone like him. Very passionate about the subject. Totally made the class interesting. He has accent but so what... I could totally understand him and his English is fine. One of the best teachers.
Prof. Guerra is an awesome instructor who make Physics come alive. I really enjoyed taking his class and learned a lot!
totally boring lecutres. but if you listen to him you can tell he knows his stuff. dont buy the book, if you do its a waste of money! i just studied the lecture notes and aced the exams! pretty easy class even if youre someone like me, who doesnt like physics. no HW and 5 mc tests of 50 qs each, very easy! rec. for gen ed! tho i didnt take the lab.
best physics teacher ever . a lot of fun , interesting and cool .highly recommended
lectures are so so so boring, but its an easy A if u just study the notes, no book needed at all. he's a really nice guy. talks about the same thing over and over again
He is a great teacher. I'd never taken physics before this class and I found it to be one of my favorite subjects afterwards. The book is fun to read but not necessary at all for the tests. Just study the handouts and review the example test questions. Also make sure to do the extra credit. The class is a breeze as an intro to physics. No mathto do.
He is very enthusiastic about the subject and very helpful. The class was not that difficult with his help. I think he wants you to enjoy physics and makes it accessible for everyone. Recommended!
AWESOME teacher! The subject is so interesting. For those that say it was kind of boring what do you expect from an entry level physics class? There is ZERO math so the discussions are focused on concepts instead of applications. Wish I had a greater understanding of calc so I could take his higher level physics class.
Dr. Guerra is one of my favorite teachers! So helpful and kind. Very accessable. Funny and smart
This guy is funny. Has a heavy accent. Smilles alot. you learn absolutely nothing and he expects you 2 know everything. What a tricster! Don't take him wait until you transfer.
HE Is AMAZINGGGG!!! the most helpfull person i kno..if you go to class read class notes and do practice test you should get a good grade..just stay on top of it..make flash cards and go to his office hours because he Really cares to help unlike some prof. at occ who could care less..he takes time and explains everything so you will get it..
not very good at explaining stuff. im not amazing at physics, but hes not making it too much easier.
He made me love physic again,REAL teacher, take him for any class you can, he will always do any thing to help you.... He is my favourite teacher....Great Human, you should experience his support for students.
3 Hours of physics gets pretty tedious, but when you're allowed to miss 5 of 15 class sessions, it's not that bad. Grade based off of 5 tests. I went the bare minimum to class, & when I did I messed around on my computer, but I still ended up with an A. Just review notes and book, and listen to him review right before the test & you'll do fine
Well, Prof GUERRA is the nicest man. Seriously, such a nice man. He is a character. Pretty funny, well liked, super helpful. PRETTY EASY A. just study the notes. dont buy the book. His exams are straight out of the notes and he goes over the test questions if he likes the class. i could have gotten an A if i tried a bit harder. he made physics fun!
Mr.Guerra knows how physics works in our life and explains it easily. I respect Guerra because he is very generouse as well as smart.
This class was so boring! It was ridiculous... I felt like I learned more staying at home. The textbook, like the class, is idiot-simple. This is a bird-science course. Guerra is funny, but when you ask a question he doesn't really answer it. His tests are easy, too.
Guerra is nice and funny guy however, I think his teaching style makes it hard to understand. I studied a lot and got a tutor. I recommend getting a tutor for the first two weeks of class and you'll make an A. If you understand the first two weeks than it's smooth sailing, if not it snowballs on you.
Class covered many aspects of physics and inspired additional outside reading. Textbook very oversimplified and not very good. If you asked for addit.info Dr. Guerra was very helpful.Excellent teacher.
Great professor and explains mostly from his notes. Grades mostly from 4 exams and a quiz for every chapter covered. Book is not very useful as it's a bit dry but just work through the exercises and problems at the end of the chapter as the test bank is through there.
I took a three hour lecture with this guy, and god, was it boring. He's a good teacher, I suppose (and can be entertaining at times), but you'll just fall asleep. I managed with a B on all exams without studying and paying attention.
He teaches OK. Uses the notes from his website. His tests are based on notes. Doesn't collect HW.
One of the most considerate and helpful professors I have ever had. He knows what he teaches and he never tricks his students. Lecture is based on his own notes which is available from his website, and test problems are mostly from homework problems from textbook, and the solutions for the homework problems are available on his website as well.
It's an introductory course, so it was insanely easy. All his notes are online for printing. I fell asleep a lot due to the warm room and low lighting. Not his fault. He's a great professor and I am taking him for PHYS 111 next semester.
easy peasyyyy. though the class was super boring (keep in mind that it was a 4 hour monday class..), it was easy. definitely DO NOT need the book. i found myself reading over the lecture notes he provided before the test and got through the semester with a B (=
I took him for the Fall 09. He teaches good and tells you what is going to be on the test when lecturing. Be sure to still take notes from him during his lecture even though he has his notes online. He has practice test so it was good to prepare you for the test. Book is not needed. Just study his lecture notes. But you still have to come to class.
Took him in an introductory phys class, very helpful and passionate about his work. I hope to get him in the future. Take notes and study his online notes and you will def get a B. Great guy.
Probably one of the best physics professors to learn from. Go to class, read his notes, and definitely complete the optional HW if you want an A. Just use the book to clarify topics that you may have tuned out to. Although it is a 2 hour lecture, skimming his online notes before class helps you stay interested. Plenty of office hrs and very nice
I don't understand how people say he is a good teacher. He goes over the very basic concepts in class and does not give you enough preparation to do the homework. When asked to homework problems in class, he refuses. The book is absolutely no help and 3 editions old. Have fun teaching yourself physics with the worst physics book ever created.
made a mistake taking his class. not the greatest teacher. doesn't really discuss half of what's on the test. he said it himself, he doesn't like teaching phys 110. book is useless, his hw problems- also useless. good luck
Took this class because I thought it would help prepare me for phys 120. Apparently it didnt. Teacher is very boring. His lecture does not correspond with the tests. He started the semester with Ch. 11 instead of Ch. 1. The class started interesting at first, but became boring as the semester continued. Not clear about whats going to be on the test
Prof Guerra is excellent! He has an "acquired" sense of humor, but is a sincerely helpful and nice guy. goes over his test questions right before giving it out(!), very clear notes available online. almost no homework. As long as you pay attention in class and read his lectures when u go home, an "A" is almost guaranteed. highly recommend him!!
He is a great professor and is extremely hilarious in his teaching methods. His in class lecture goes over what the book discusses fairly well and you can probably get a decent grade just listening to his lectures however for students who actually want to learn I recommend using the book and then going to his lectures.
DO THE HOMEWORK. He teaches you the very basic concepts and makes quizes/test off the homework (which are have much more critical thinking). The class is extremely hard so don't take it unless you have to. Only class I've ever had to study 15-20 hours a week to hopefully pull a B.
I took him for the lab portion. Not very difficult to get an A. As long as you follow the lab report guidelines, you can get an A. Make sure not to screw up on the calculations since he looks at that part the most.
Excellent teacher! He repeats the contents in class, but it's to make sure you understand the material. Very helpful in answering your questions. Make sure you put in time to study over the notes, and that will earn you an A.
Overall an easy class, I slept through most of the classes, missed the extra credit paper and ended up with a B. Just make sure you read textbook and actually do the hwk, lectures are somewhat important since some questions on the test are from notes.
Two words: BRILLIANT PROFESSOR
He is extremely brilliant and a great teacher. He always clarifies topis multiple times using different examples, always ask if everyone is clear. The subject is tough, you need to have your trig down so you can focus on the concepts, you need to commit the time or you wont get it.doesnt collect homework, but do it, it is be the best prep for test
Guerra is AWESOME! Like the other comments have said, he is brilliant. His class is great too- he makes you like the subject and understand it well. He's a really cool guy. Stay after class and talk to him, he'll spend time talking to you and teach you cool stuff! TAKE HIM!!!!!
Guerra is great at breaking down difficult concepts into their basic components. Still, the material isn't easy and requires studying. For me, the first half of 185 was the toughest- don't let the first couple of chapters lull you into a false sense of security. Study enough, and you will do well.
Can Guerra please teach all my natural science classes????? teaching method, interesting speaker, and approachability are ingredients in making a great professor. OCC has a steal in locking him up to teach here esp for a Physics class. How many professors can make physics interesting???? not many but Guerra is a game changer.
Can be really picky about lab reports. Make sure your include every detail, every formula, every number, and all the units of measurements in your lab report. Explains the labs in great depth(sometimes too much depth) and is very helpful. He'll even help you out with HW from your lecture class. Definitely knows his stuff. Solid lab class.
He is the guy that you wanna take. He teaches very well, tests are easy if you do homework (not mandatory) and he lets you know some of the exam's answers too. I studied them and did extra credit n got an A. TAKE HIM.
VERY EASY. would be easier if you did the hmwk(not mandatory). the tests comes from the notes that he provides for you. ended up with an 88% with the extra credit, but ended up giving me an A anyways.
Professor Guerra is a cool guy. His class is fairly easy as long as you show up, pay attention, and study a moderate amount for the tests. I bought the textbook for his class and never even took it out of the plastic and ended up with an A.
Very misleading. He told me to know the homework problems and know them well, but when it came to tests, the homework problems he gave were inadequate for preparation of the exam. General advice in Physics is to do a lot of different homework problems as possible; he told me just do his homework problems. I should have never listened to him!!!
He's a nice guy but this class ain't easy. He really tries to help his students, but yeah you have to work REALLY hard for your grade. Physics is never easy.
he is very unorganized. he assigns masteringphysics homework on random dates and doesnt tell you, so you have to check everyday. there are quizzes which he will tell you one day ahead. tests are difficult. you must keep up with the work.
Really hard! don't take him you will regret it!!!! he doesn't prepare you at all for the tests! His homework and lecture problems are easier on the test making us fail.
Amazing teacher. I hated physics 130 but Guerra's class is very enjoyable and an A is attainable. He is passionate and caring. Lab write ups are easy, we ended up only having about 10 labs, not 16. His homework is a MUST. Homework questions are almost identical, if not, to the exams and quizzes. Take him! you won't regret it!
Tests are extremely difficult and have complex problems that weren't in the homework or lecture. There are easier physics professors that I would take instead. With another professor, I got a B without trying too hard. Take a different class if you're looking for an easier grade
Guerra makes physics really fun! Lab was very enjoyable and great. He does a very good job in terms of teaching you the material, and makes it very clear and articulate, making the labs easy. Make sure you're on the waitlistfor lab because he accepts people who are petitioning. Many people who were on the waitlist got enrolled in the class.
Absolutely Great Professor! He might sometimes fall behind in lectures but I think its due to the fact that he tries to explain the concepts in most simplistic ways so that everyone can understand the material. This class isn't hard but requires a lot of attention(>5 hours). Tests do test you knowledge and understanding of material, so know it well
He does not sympathize for your lack of effort. He will respect you if you show him you are serious about your future as a(n) *insert STEM major here*. He busts his butt as a teachermentor, and all he asks in return is for you to meet him halfway. Make sacrifices to stay focused, stay curious, and ask questions. Your future you will thank you.
He's clear in lecture, but the tests are incredibly difficult compared to the assigned homework.
Only 4 Exams. He's pretty passionate about his lectures, but they're extremely long and he goes in too much details about it that you won't completely understand what he's trying to explain. He has an accent, but it's somewhat easy to understand. All of his lecture notes are online, you can buy the book to practice questions if you want.
Awesome professor. Do the extra credit if you take physics 110 and you'll get an easy A. Test are around 60-65 questions(only 4). Everything from his lecture notes which are online are part of the test and here and there you'll see questions from the homework(not that many, about 8 a test).btw Homework answers are in the library.
The main thing to worry about is exams. There are no surprises on exams if you have practiced all of the problems that he tells you to practice. But you really do need to practice every single problem because many problems have unique solutions. The only difference between an A student and a B student is the A student practiced all the problems!!!!
Awesome, great professor; hard class. Enough said.
Professor Guerra is an amazing physics teacher. His lectures are very clear and easy to understand. You will have to put a lot of time into this class. I recommend you to do the HW in the book first, then do the online HW without any help.
Of all the classes I've had at OCC this guy is hands down the best. I left his classes inspired to learn the material. The lectures he provides cannot be replaced by the text or self study. On another note he is one of the hardest professors as well. He will fail you. UNDERSTAND every homework problem! Work hard and this class will pay dividends.
Prepare to work really hard for this class. You learn a lot from him. Class consists of quizzes (no pop quiz), online hw, labs, and 3 EXAMS (20% each). For exams, you gotta understand EVERY single prob in his hw, know how to solve it. Tests are homework-based, but he does change a little wording and this blows your mind. Attend class.
One of the best professors at OCC. He's really funny and is one of the most caring people that I have met. I plan to take him for PHYS A185 and A280. I took this course during the intercession and was extremely doable. Take him for physics if you can.
Best prof. ever! He explains PHYS in fun and interesting way that you'll want to attend his lecture. PHYS is hard, but way he presents makes it crystal clear. He also care about his students and makes sacrifice to help you. However, he's a challenging prof! I've seen many students drop from his class b/c of tough grading, but it's worth the effort!
The guy is very knowledgable. He posts his notes and solution, which is very nice. Lectures are crystal clear. Do all the assigned homework, really know the problem because exams are similar to homework. Sometimes there is one challenging problem in an exam but at the end he will average it out. Super approachable outside class.
I along with a few other class mates love him. He explains everything thoroughly and clearly. He also gives you every resource possible to pass. With that being said he is a tough grader, but it isn't impossible to get 100 percent on each test. His method of teaching actually makes you understand and know the subject like the back of your hand.
Test is so difficult for the majority of students.
Yes, his test is so difficult for the majority of students. At the beginning, it was about 50 students. After exam 1, it was about 30. And then, after exam 2, it was only about 10.
to pass the class you must spend all your free times to read the books and do all homework. He doesnt teach any things, thus after the second exam, most of students drop his class. Really really hard class
He gives a lot of homework ,so it takes a lot of time to finish. Also you should beware of pop quizzes. Test is so difficult for many students. And, he talks so fast on lecture.
Really nice and understanding teacher. Takes into account that most of his students have other classes to pay for so he always uses the cheapest options for books. Always available to answer questions and teaches real life applications. Most students that fail aren't willing to put the effort in. He is a very reasonable professor.
Best professor for the physics series. Attend lectures, do homework regularly, and redo them until you understand clearly how to apply the concepts or formula to different scenarios. You have to put in work to get an A in this class really. He is very nice and approachable as well.
Top physics professor no doubt. Dr. Guerra is smart charismatic and patient. He really wants you to learn the subject. His class is hard at first but once you figure out how he teaches and how he lectures and how to study, there is no doubt you will pass the class. He seems tough but once he sees that you put an effort he will go above and beyond.
He explains things extremely clearly, but the amount of homework and the difficulty of it compared to what we learn in class is not worth it, especially if you're in multiple stem classes. good luck lol.
Without copious amounts of free time to devote to physics each day, do not give this professor more than 5 seconds thought. Exams are notoriously difficult to prepare for, and homework is assigned excessively. May the continuously declining attendance to his classes speaks for itself. At all costs, review other professors.
He is a great professor. Incredibly intelligent, but he does have flaws. The lack of feedback given on incorrect answers on exams and quizzes is a real pain. The quizzes are easy but his exams are extremely difficult compared to them. Gives a lot of homework and sometimes makes them due on the day of the test. Test is just like the hw but harder.
Professor Guerra is a really great professor. He isn't like all the other tenured professors who talk to you as if you are in a masters level course. He takes the time to make sure you understand in layman's terms. The test can be a little tricky so do the homework and pay attention. He offers some extra credit.
Best professor I've seen teaching physics. Incredible grasp on the concepts and it comes through in his teaching. His quizzes and tests are exactly the same as the homework and in-class examples. The amount of homework, 8-12 per week, were perfect amount to gauge progress and for an interested students to practice more problems.
A powerful lecturer. He is able to explain complex details with precision. His lectures are always a joy to attend. Very fair exams. If you want an A you need to do the textbook problems over and over again. He posts solutions to textbook problems. Also, he runs labs quite efficiently. Lab reports are not bad to do either. Take him if you can!!
Dont expect detailed replies if you email him about homework help. Docks off half the points on a test question if you make a calculation error in the final step even though you show clear understanding the Physics concept.
I took him at the 185, he's teaching very clearly, but the important thing is you need to understand his note, he's kind a bit tough grader, though. The exam are quite tough, so make sure do homework to prepare for it. He care a lot for his student. If you don't understand what he teach, make sure ask him. Lab is quite easy but long and exhausted.
LOVE Guerra. One of the best professors I've ever had. Super nice and helpful, and he teaches physics so well, I honestly wish I could retake some of his classes because I learned so much from him. He can be pretty funny too. Take good notes during his lectures. I miss this guy.
Arnold Guerra is a godsent blessing to us college students. He is a very down-to-earth individual and is very clear in his lectures. He is very passionate about physics and is also very lenient towards his students. His exams are pretty difficult, but the way he teaches allows you to grasp concepts easily. He is probably the best professor at OCC.
Professor Guerra was one of the best professors I've ever had. His explanations and clarity on lectures definitely helped me pass this class. Attend lecture, do the assigned homework, do it again, and you should be fine. He is pretty clear on what he feels we should know and what can be glanced over.
Really clear on material that will be on test as well as what the hw is. Overall really good course
On homework you get 2 chances to answer correctly so if you don't get it the first time you can look it up before answering again. Your entire grade is based on 4 tests and the homework, if you understand the homework than the tests will be easy. He does get distracted easily during lecture but overall he's great. He also gave lots of extra credit
Lectures are detailed but he only cover 1/3 of the required material so learn it yourself, homework is not required but necessary for the test and there is way too much so unless youre taking 1 science class or you want to sacrifice all real life responsibilities dont expect to do well. Tests are unforgiving as either you get it right or you fail
The GOAT. His lectures are so simple and clear to understand. His classes me fall in love with Physics, and I truly knew the subject inside and out with his guidance. But if you want an A, youll have to work for it by doing the HW and the book examples. Also very accommodating and nice.
Great professor! Lectures are great and he's willing to stop and explain things should you need it. Accommodating to his students be it with dates or going over requested hw problems in lecture. Hw not done for credit only practice, grade based on lab, quizzes & 3 tests. Final is not cumulative. Would 100% take again.
I took Prof. Guerra for all 3 of the physics sequence and he is hands down the best professor at OCC. I learned so much from this man and he is my first recommendation. In Prof. Guerras class, he taught me how to connect the bridge between mathematics and physics. I have since transferred to Berkeley EECS and many of his students also go to Cal
Good at explaining topics as long as you listen in class. Covers basic concepts in class and harder examples if you have questions. Tests aren't extremely hard (basically all problems that were on the homework) but course consists of 3 tests making up 75% of the grade (each test only has 4-5 questions). HW "optional" but you have to do it to learn.
I LOVE this guy! I seriously could never imagine getting engaged with physics to this degree and that is 100 percent due to Professor Guerra. His lectures are amazing, his tests are fair and best of all he genuinely loves helping students regardless of the time or day you need him. I HIGHLY recommend his course.
pros: His lecture are very straightforward and fun to learn. test questions out of book. cons: sometimes the lecture is overwhelming. A bit long too. Just do the practice HW, you'll be fine.
Just do practice HW problems and focus on understanding the lecture. Ask others for advice and clarification.
His lectures are straight to the point and he includes notes to follow along. Only assignments for his Conceptual Physics class are multiple choice quizzes (usually from Textbook) and the chapter exams that are MC as well. He is passionate about teaching and always willing to answer questions. Recommend his class, he makes science interesting
Don't take this professor, extremely harsh grader, he deducts points for minor mistakes. Quizzes every week with no formulas provided
Prof. Guerra was very helpful during office hours and was very clear during lecture. His exams are alright, the homework he assigns does reflect on the exams. Overall his positive energy and intelligence made Physics fun and interesting to learn!
This Professor is a very tough grader with quizzes every week. The formulas he provides are very confusing and in the quiz, there is no formula given. Don't take this guy :)
Professor Guerra is amazing. Put in the work, do textbook problems, and you will succeed. Don't get me wrong, Physics is a hard subject in itself, but Professor Guerra explains it so well. I feel like I'm a despicable supervillain in the making just from hearing his voice. Just from his voice alone, he inspires me to one day steal the Moon!
Awesome Professor I've taken him for 180, 280, and 285. The course is hard because of the subject but he makes learning physics as easy as possible. DO THE HOMEWORK all of his quizzes are just a question taken from the he he assigns. Do the work and you will do fine.
He's awesome! I've taken him for 185, 280, and 285, and he's consistent with his expectations and grading each time. He loves teaching and is great at it. I was not a fan of physics before, but he makes it easy and fun to learn. He takes quiz/test problems from the homework and class examples, so do the work. Don't disappoint him; he's a great guy.
He is one the professors that hard to come by that often. He is the best physics professor I could've ever asked for
Amazing professor. He teaches you with such passion you cannot help but to be so intrigued. This class is very difficult, but he tries his best for you to understand the material, even repeating himself multiple times with different approaches. Wish I could take him again. If you want to properly learn physics, don't hesitate learning from him.
Three exams, which are a reflection of lecture and homework problems. Tells you exactly what you need to study, he might even give you one exam question as a take home. Same thing with quizzes. Lectures were super engaging, its a tough subject but he explains it so well. Pronounces some words funny.
I had him for my A185 & A280, and he is great! He wants to help you get the best grade if he feels you are trying hard. He also provides many opportunities to get small extra credits through exams. He takes quizzes and drops the lowest grade. He deeply explains the material in a way that makes you more eager to study for the course.
He is one of the best teachers. Lecture grade comes mostly from quizzes and 3 tests. Final test is not cumulative. Questions are from homework or problems covered in class. Very fair teacher, and labs are easy as he guides you through them. Very passionate about what he teaches. I would recommend, I learned a lot and was very entertained.
To the people on here who have complained, you are upset that you don't understand the material. Guerra has been the best professor I have ever had. He will start the class by answering any questions we have from hw/ect before moving onto the lecture. His enthusiasm is unmatched. I cannot tell you guys what a blessing it is to take Guerra, do it.
Very fun guy. Respectable, love his enthusiasm, everything you want in a professor he's got it. Material can be challenging but it's a physics class so that's nothing out of the ordinary. Professor Guerra truly has a passion for teaching and you can hear it from just being in his class. Lectures are engaging and I will be returning for ENM.
Professor Guerra is great. He's great at explaining concepts, and his exams are very fair. I took this class during summer and it was very doable. I would caution against taking another STEM class at the same time though, because summer section is fast paced. You NEED to do every practice problem he assigns, otherwise you will be very lost
Professor Guerra is passionate about physics and makes the material engaging. Attend lectures, do homework, and utilize resources like unstuck study - you'll understand the challenging concepts. The grading is fair, and he's accommodating. Overall, a great physics professor.
Unironically the best science teacher I've ever had in my life. Explains concepts very clearly and is patient when answering questions. Has his jokes in class so it's never boring. Class is mostly based on 3 exams and 7 quizzes. He'll tell you what will be on them, and drops the lowest quiz. Labs aren't too bad, just careful about your units.
Loved this professor! He takes time going over problems/examples that are insanely similar to the ones on the exams. There are chapter quizzes but he communicates effectively on what would be on the quiz (usually one free-response question) and the lowest quiz grade is dropped. He also has a great sense of humor! He really is a great professor!!
3 exams, choice of answering 4 of 5 problems, 3rd exam (not cumulative) has extra credit. Couple of quizzes, not worth that much. Online hw is done for a grade, additional optional hw is strongly recommended to reinforce inclass concepts. Detailed in class examples may appear on quizzes/exams. Do not take for granted. Make time to review + grind.:p
MUST READ: In person, OCC, had lab w him as well. Labs r very easy u literally just show up, type a clear report, submit. U should go to every lecture and write down his examples he does and you'll pass for sure. Tests are extremely straightfoward, dont be an idiot, just focus on studying his examples, ur fine. A little of bonus HW helps clarity EZ
If you show up to the lectures and take notes, this class should be a cakewalk. The lab is straightforward, the homework is challenging but fair, and the tests are all well within the realm of possible with the content provided in class. It's not an easy A, but doing the bare minimum of showing up and studying a little bit is almost a guaranteed B.
