Eh... he's alright... behind t he times in technology, but he understands the management process. his syllabus could use some work. Not very exciting. Does a lot of case studies in groups. His lectures are pretty useless.
What a waste of time. We actually sat through lectures talking about RAM, ROM, and PUNCH CARDS. I am not kidding. In 2004 we had a lecture covering punch cards. Aside from that, Schron thinks IT people keep the world rotating on its axis.Full of himself
I personally found the classes to be very dry and unclear -- Save yourself!
The professor is alright, the course itself is pretty boring, but professor doesn`t give u a hard time on the exam. He does his best.
The information gets repetitive since he loses his train of thought. Although when on point he is very thorough, when he digresses, people get lost.
b-o-r-i-n-g!!! 10 short essays in midterm and final. for the midterm he at least told us what the questions are going to be similar to. in the final he left us to figutre it out on our own. he is very clear on what he is expecting but with essay questions you have to be very specific.

A very arrogant man and a horrible presenter. Unclear, unhelpful and uninterested. Also exhibits poor mastery of the English language (his first and only language). I had to dispute exam scores because his questions were so poorly worded that 3/4 answers were semantically correct. Avoid his courses at all costs.
Great professor, tons of practical knowledge
lectures are soooo boring and not related to the tests, study from the book and read the questions very carefully as he doesn't formulate them clearly; got b- but i didn't really study hard, overall easy class and if you put time into the book, you should get a
Professor was OK...class could get really boring though. He didn't take attendance and exams were multiple choice questions and short essay questions. The short essays are based on examples he gives in class. No notes, everything he does is straight from the book, so you have to read it in order to understand it.
He is an easy going guy. He is very knowledgeable in his field, and hardly gives assignments. His teaching style is great also.
First of all this class is a joke and have not learned anything i ve known already. Prof. seems to know what he is talking about but not a good teacher and a weird grader. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
He gives out an attendance sheet. There are two exams and a final. As long as you go to class, pay attention, read the textbook you will get an A. He is very knowledgeable in his field and easy going. He mentions a lot about where he teaches, just get used to. There are no HW's or quizzes. No need to participate,if you do then good for you.Recommend.
There is an exam, midterm and a final. As long as you go to his lectures, and READ the textbook you will get an A. He is not hard, just do what you got to do. Gives out an attendance sheet. You do not have to participate but it will be good. Recommended!
The WORST prof I ever HAD !!!! AVOID HIM !!! He's ****ing senile, won't remember u a min after you've spoken with him! He reads from PP slides. Didn't like his class at all ! AND I'm a good student
avoid!
Good professor!
WORST PROFESSOR !
He is easy. I think he teaches this class on the side. His exams are easy but badly prepared with lots of mistakes. Easy class if you just read the slides.
mad easy test are really easy and come straight from the book but lectures are really boring
OMG easiest class. His lectures are very dry and boring but the tests are easy to pass if you study the chapters. Half the class only came for the tests and missed most of the lectures. No notebook needed.
The easiest class ever. His lectures are very boring but the tests are easy to pass if you study the chapters. Half the class only came for the tests and missed most of the lectures. No notebook needed.
It will be one of your easiest classes. At the same time you will learn a lot. All you need to do is just listen to him and his lectures. No need to buy a book. He explains everything extremely clear and makes you remember everything in an easy way. Trust me, you will never regret taking his class. There is no way you can do bad in it.
really nice guy, try to explain everything crystal clear, just take notes, when he is giving you examples. take him!
Easy class, great professor. Explains everything in a clear way. Don't buy the book, he posts the power point slides on the blackboard and they are more than enough to get a good grade in this course. Disregard the negative reviews, i wish all the professors in baruch would be so straight forward as professor Schron.
very good professor, take him for sure! hardest test is the 1. and than it is a easy class. do not need to buy the book, he gives you the slides and that is all you need!
Really Really nice guy. Subject matter wont really keep you awake, but he understands. You really just need to read the textbook and should (not required) to look at ppts and take notes. Talks about his jobs and experience so you get a sense of his career, it's in Quantatative modeling. Stays on topic generally and knows his stuff. It's early class
okay so he says he doesn't care if you come to class, but he DEF does cause he passes a sheet around. class average on the first 2 tests were both around a 78... honestly i thought it was gna be really easy.. but you need to know your stuff. its easy but then again its confusing(like questions on the test) i love him but hate him too in a way
Great Professor. Dropped bc of my job. Will def take him again. If you took his class pl email me: ruff.ryder.ny at gmalL d0t c0m
He is great professor. You don't need text book in his class. He uploads powerpoint slides on black board. I recommend him
If you like cis and listen in class, you might be interested. To me it was boring. It was hard to stay up at 7:50am. He counts attendance. His exams (could be tricky and wordy sometimes) are straight from the slides he provides. Do not need the book. Got an A.
Well.. overall he's ok during the semester... but when it comes to final grading....I have no idea what happened,, I got A- on his midterm and final I don't know. and I got C+,..... I tried to emailed him about my final exam grade but never replied...... very irresponsible at this point
I was unsatisfied with his response with the question I brought to him. He made lots of mistakes on this exam contents. Lots of students complainted about his questions which is wordy, stricky, and confused. He didn't pre-proof questiones before he brought to exam. He is nice, but I don't feel you gonna learn computer skills from this class.
easy class, boring duke! lots of mistake from exam. No disbute about your final grade.
He made lot of mistakes in his exams, He gives true false and mcq's. Lot of questions are doubtful and have more than one answer.
Just read the slides and you should be fine. took him in the summer got an A. Don't need the book.
Easy class if you can pay attention in class to the slides.
class is boring - GOOD NEWS: YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO. YAY. Just read the text book (you don't have to buy the slides cuz its the same material that's in the book.) Make sure your not absent the 4 days out of the semester that there are tests. THATS IT ! Super easy + he's a nice guy. TAKE HIM. We all have to take CIS anyways its required so take him!
not that bad, he give u curve at the end. i was in B and end up with A-
Stay away. This guy is the worst of the worst. He doesn't understand the subject matter, and can barley operate MS PP. He should not be in Baruch or at any other college. You can get an A, but he makes so many mistakes on exams, and even on grading them. Also, he would not give u your midterm grade so you will study hard for the final. What a joke.
Honest Review: Too many mistakes in exams, and too many mistakes while grading. He got short term memory. Don't ever think that you talked to him and now you are fine. It does not matter you study or not as long as you don't understand the material you can't get good grade. He don't explain you how he gonna grade you. he gives curve at the end.
He is a very nice guy and you can get an easy A. In terms of learning Excel I am not fully satisfied. I learned but I think I could have learned a lot more. Well I got a good grade so in the end of the day I am pretty happy.
If you want very easy A take him. If you want learn Excel run away.
If this is the only section open, wait until next semester to take it. Excel is an important tool that you need to know well in the real world. There are better teachers teaching this course, take them not him if you want to learn. Easy A otherwise...too easy, didn't learn anything.
Really boring.Reads off the power point slides. The exams are not too bad, just multiple choice and short answer. There are four of these exams. Read the book or the power point slides and you should do fine. The book is very dry Class was at 7:50 A.M., but he doesn't care if you are late. Just sign your name in. Overall,a fair professor.
If you're a CIS major then don't take him because you won't learn anything. If you aren't a CIS major then go for it. He's pretty easy and the tests are fair. He does the best he can with such a boring subject. Class basically consists of power point slides and lectures. Learned everything from the book. Easy class. He's fair.
Not bad professor. He does read all the notes off his powerpoint slides but it is a must to take notes. He goes really fast through them so make sure you can abbreviate. Also for every chapter you should copy down the vocab it was real helpful to me. I got a B+ and I did everything I mentioned. Overrall did not mind this professor would take again.
remember: study his power points, DO NOT ERASE ON TESTS, and double check your work and grades. He tends to miss grade exams causing people to receive lower grades. Be sure to speak to him immediately to make the corrections.
If you understand the concept, then you'll do fine and no reading needed. No Excel use, and he had no clue what's SAM that another professor required for the same course.) Easiest A ever but this could be because i took summer classes.
People listen to me.. stay away!!!! this class was not easy as people described, he tells you to study certain chapters and puts other chapters on the exam, he stopped posting the slides on blackboard.. and is virtually unreachable. he sucks period.
His class does not require Wiley like all the other professors. Strictly lecture on the textbook material. Had exam grades in the B range and received A- for the class. However, do not take him if you need to learn excel and access.
Didnt learn Excel at all, still dont know what i learned from that class... His exams are terribly hard and he makes so many mistakes with the questions. On top of that, his wordings are confusing. Do not need Wiley code so just get a digital copy for free online. Dropped my GPA so much. If you want easy, this is not the professor to go.
His class is extremely boring!! Don't take him if you can avoid. DO NOT ERASE on his test. He made lots of mistakes when grading the test. But he is a really nice guy. He goes over the cases in the book and those are interesting.
2 midterms 20% each, 5% attendance, 5% research study, 10% excel, 40% final. Material is pretty hard but professor is easy going and helps you understand it. He's kind of disorganized, we didn't even get to the excel. He curves a lot, so I recommend!
He is such a fair and nice professor. His exams were mostly true or false (20% each) He was very lenient when it came to grading and handing in the excel projects late. He's very understanding yet a bit unorganized. He teaches what he thinks will be useful in life. I really did enjoy his class.
Tests are full of mistakes, confusing. Even with all TF questions the class average is a 70 on tests. He did curve at the end of the semester about a letter grade increase. About 2070 students attend class. He would cut lecture short by 1520 minutes every class. Avoid this professor, lectures are miserable and you can take notes on slides @ home
Summer course. Used a Baruch Custom Wiley Plus textbook . Online code not needed. His class is just powerpoint presentations which he uploads to BlackBoard now. Make sure to read the textbook and know the terms. Midterm 35% Final 40% Both 65 MC questions. Attendance 10%. "Excel project" 15% which is 2 questions. Boring af but easy A-. Nice man tho.
I got a B+. Was an okay class, studied hard. Although his exams are tricky with the wording so no matter how much you study, its still not easy. Not strict on attendance or lateness. Mostly all reading. Must have textbook, and make sure to print textbook notes slides.
One excel project, two midterms, one final. Go to the reviews before midterms. Print out the powerpoints and take notes on them. I read the textbook and went over his notes, especially parts he emphasized. I didn't study much for the second midterm so i ended up with a A-. Fairly easy if you read & study his notes.
Basically one assignment, 2 midterms and a final. If you know the information on the practice tests you'll do fine. Just pay attention in class and he basically tells you what is going to be on the tests. Really nice dude but sometimes scatterbrained.
His class has 3 or 4 exams based Excel material. Test is open book and also it is easy to learn the material. Teaches the material in class on screen and computers are mandatory. It isn't hard if you know how to learn excel or already know excel
At first, I thought he would be a good professor. Then I took his first exam. Questions that don't have to do with what was taught. If you do poor on one you're basically done. No chances at redeeming your grade. He also has zero awareness and looks like a ghost.
Professor Schron's lectures was pretty boring since he just read off the slides online. He didn't give any homework except for one excel project which was not difficult at all. There were 2 midterms and 1 final, but the information are mostly from the slides. He is very lenient and he gives a huge curve on the final letter grade.
Nice Pro. He will explain words if you have questions on it during exams. 2 exams(basic on ppt, he will review some important slices) 20% each, 1 final (most questions similar with given back exam 1&2)40%, 1 easy excel project 15%( make sure do it, give out a huge curve on final letter grade).don't worry if not do well on exam 1&2, will curve
really easy professor, a must take. He gives one Homework assignment which is an excel project, 2 exams and the final. don't need to buy the book or connect. we never use connect and he has the textbook slides up during class. take good notes and study, if you do its an easy A.
Easy A if you study the powerpoint slides. His exams are all true/false with some multiple choice. Class was really early and a bit boring but attendance sign in sheet is mandatory. Prof Schron answers any questions you may have and does not assign any work except for excel project (which is fairly easy)
Pretty solid instructor. Tends to start his lecture 2 mins early, but lets out 30 mins early. 3 tests and an excel project - that's it. Everything is based on the powerpoints, and he spends a few lectures reviewing the chapters that will be covered so you know what to study. Don't buy the text or Connect access. Attendance is mandatory.
Stay away from him. Tests were a big mess. He also gave me a wrong grade. Refused to fix it saying he didn't have time to check it. He also gave me remarks like "Do you even understand English?" and some comments on my last name which had nothing to do with my grade. Just stay away.
Must attend class for attendance. Class is super easy! Exams are open book, notes, and web. YES YOU CAN USE GOOGLE! You literally cannot fail he tells you exactly what's on each exam. The only thing I dislike is that he doesn't show you how to use excel himself he pulls up articles online and makes us follow it. Either way, easy, would recommend!
He basically reads off of the slides the whole time. Class isn't very engaging but tests are okay if you study all the slides plus go over anything extra he had said. Two midterms, one final, one excel project, and some SONA study that you can complete online. Wouldn't take again but class is easy if you show up and pay attention.
Must go for attendance. His lectures are pretty laid-back. Materials are not difficult but there is a lot of them. Just take notes on what he says that aren't on the slides, read the text, and do the one Excel project, and you'll be fine. I got 80's for the 2 midterms and not so great on final but still got an A for the class due to the curves.
He reads off the slides and says a lot of info not on the slides that might be on the exams. There are 2 midterms and 1 final. It is mainly True and false questions with super confusing wording. I did not do so well on the exams but he did give a big curve.
decent professor. laptops were required for every class. did some in-class excel work there were pretty easy. 1 midterm and 1 final, both open booked. mostly self-study and you'll be fine. easy A!
nice professor, attendance is mandatory, 1 midterm and 1 final both opened-book, some easy in-class excel exercises, laptops required to be brought to class. Easy A!
Lectures were boring, because prof was just reading the slides. All you need to pass his tests is just memorize the slides the night before.
Class is extremely easy to get an A or A-. His exams are 90% T/F questions which many are just common sense. Just read and memorize the slides as those are whats on the exams. I got 80+ on both midterms even without paying attention in class except memorizing. Only downside is that he doesn't teach excel but great prof overall.
He is an incredibly nice professor, received around an 80 on all my tests, and 100% on SONA, SAMS, Projects, and attendance which make up 30%. He does curve and actually wants his students to be successful. There is a lot of material, but he provides all the slides, and does extensive reviews, however there is tricky wording and confusing.
Super nice guy, and real funny. Textbook was not used once, only need the code to get the slides and access to the projects. No homework assigned besides 2 projects that take a combined total of 20 minutes. The hardest part is the department projects, but they're on youtube. Easy class, use the practice midterms. Graded on two midterms and a final.
Easy A-/A hands down. No connect HW so dont bother buying the textbook (he provides the link to the slides). 2 midterms, 1 final, SAM assignments but thats dept. requirement plus they're on youtube anyways. 1 excel and 1 access assignment from him but they're super easy and takes 10-20 minutes combined. Study the practice exams and you'll be fine.
EASY A. He makes his class very easy especially considering in Baruch some of the classes take a lot . His test are simple and much like the practice test. And his excel problems are also not very hard. Overall a good choice for a PROF. Not a hard A at all. I put in minimal effort and still got an A and when I said minimal I mean MINIMAL.
Easy A class! Super nice prof. Don't use the text book, he gave the link for PPT which he use for class. Prepare the exams, just memorize the practice midterms and read the PPT(don't need to memorize all the PPT) Graded on two midterms and a final , Excel and Access HW.
I did not regret to take Prof. Schron's class. He provided us many valuable source to learn different functions of Excel. I took this class in 2019 Spring, and he didn't use textbook, instead, he provided us the learning tutorials online, which is very nice to learn. Also, he has a clear grading system, and is fair. No mandatory Homework.
He provided a lot of useful links to help us understand different excel functions. For class, bring your laptop so you could follow and do the examples he gives. He is very nice and a very caring professor. No mandatory homework, one midterm and a final. Would recommend to anyone.
Honestly, I am not the best student by any means, and I was able to take this class with no problem. Attendance is mandatory, but he takes attendance on a piece of paper that he passes around the room. Classwork is not difficult, and neither are the tests as long as you read the slides.
Professor Schron is a soft spoken but very respectable person. He does not care for bad excuses. With that being said, Professor Schron specifies which slides/topics will be on the tests and does his best to bring your grade up. Also, participation will greatly help you, and SAM assignments as well. Attendance is just a sign in sheet. He is great!
I couldn't hear him half the time and I sat near the front of the class. This, however, is not his fault because apparently no one gave him a mic despite him asking for one. The tests are hard to study for. He tells us to read the powerpoints but imo, you're better off actually reading the book as the powerpoints skip over a lot of detail.
Everything is off powerpoints, no point in going to class but he takes attendance seriously. Doesn't care about his students at all and doesn't make any accommodations even during COVID. Doesn't know how to use tech despite being a CIS professor. IRONIC. Worst prof ever taken. Cuts students off in the middle of Zoom and leaves. No email responses
Dont take him for Zoom Classes, Will completely ignore your questions both on the chat and voice. Students at first raised their voices to ask questions but he just blows past them. We learned to not ask any questions anymore because of the sheet disrespect.
His classes are a total mess. Never responds to emails nor answer student questions at all in zoom classes.
Worst decision ever choosing this professor to learn Excel. Graded only by midterm and final really. Literally, all he does is read online "documents" to us. He doesn't actually even use Excel at all. I did not pay for this class to just have someone read webpages that I could have read myself online for free.
Incompetent. Has no idea what he is doing. I submitted my final on time, and then he emails me a week later saying I never submitted it. He is a failure as a man, and should not be employed by Baruch College.
Not an easy A and I normally get As . Test arent clear at all . Powerpoints are all over the place and the class is extremely boring . Doesnt give grades for assignments . I ended up with a B but that affected my Gpa . If you can find a better Professor please do .
He's a really fair professor who looks out for the needs of his students. Made CIS really understandable for me and many others in my class!
DO NOT TAKE HIM. His zoom classes were useless and in the midterm he put in concepts that were not in the study guide whatsoever. Does not know how to use any kind of technology even though he is supposed to teach it. Unfair grading criteria. Should not be teaching any subject with his level of motivation and sympathy for students.
WORST PROFESSOR FOR CIS. He literally doesn't know how to use a powerpoint presentation which is ironic since he teaches about tech. He has not given any tests that are on the study guide and wastes time on useless live lectures. Even Worse, he gave our grades 2 weeks after the deadline for the whole class which delays our Zicklin admission.
took this class because the rating for him was good until Fall 2020 became an online class. He reads straight off his slides, and barely answers your questions. The test was supposed to be open book, however, some test questions were never mentioned in his slides. For the second test, he gave 60 questions to be done in 60 min. DO NOT TAKE
TEST QUESTIONS ARE NEVER IN HIS SLIDES. VERY TEST HEAVY BUT NOTHING ON THE TEST IS FROM THE LECTURE.
DONT TAKE THIS PROF! His online "lectures" consists of him reading straight off the slides, struggling to operate powerpoint and zoom, and giving attitude towards students with genuine questions. Some material on his tests aren't covered by his notes, and his lack of communication with his students is far too wide and ends up hurting our grades >:(
Read off the slides. Gives attitudes when questions are asked. Reply emails in all CAPS. The test has questions that were not even being covered in his slides. Gives no explanation at all and keep on avoiding to answer questions directly, always make the student to email him which he doesnt reply. Keeps on mentioning NYU multiple times. Avoid!!!!!
Worst Professor At Baruch I have ever taken!! He just reads off the slides and half of his questions on his Midterms aren't even from the Slides. Replies to E-Mails i n ALL CAPS and makes unfair changes to classes. After seeing the high grades of the first midterm, he changed the # of question to 60 in 60 minutes and was very very stubborn! AVOID!
Only reads off slides, no explanation whatsoever, need to read the textbook to sort of know concepts. Exams are mad hard, not even based on his lecture, doesn't teach AT ALL. Don't even know why I wake up to take his class when all he does is just read off his PowerPoints and answers his slides with "Yep, that is correct". AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!
Just to warn you guys, all he does is read off the slides rather than actually teaching. Most of the questions on the test are not even from the slides. Even when he makes a mistake, he's way to STUBBORN to fix the mistake. AVOID him if you can, not worth taking him. On every test, there is at least 5/6 questions he messes on in the answer key.
This professor is the worst professor I have taken at Baruch so far. Please stay away. This man doesn't know how to use Powerpoint or Zoom and he is teaching a Computer Information Systems class. He also puts the wrong answers on his exams and if you don't review your test after, he will not fix it. You will need to reach out to the academic office
Terrible. No explanation. Tests are timed unfairly. Hes rude. You cannot ask questions. No instructions. Does not help with technical difficulties. Makes you buy books that you will not use. Cares nothing for students. No extra credit. Does not follow his own syllabus. Does not respond to emails. WILL RUIN YOUR GPA
Very uptight man dont take him u wont learn anything and he will fail u
Attended class just every day just to see him read off the slides. Nothing from the lecture is on the test, as everything comes from the chapters-which are around 130 pages. Tests have around 6 questions that are graded wrong. The class is so boring you will definitely sleep through it. A big WASTE OF MY TIME. Take another professor!!!
Don't take him. He teaches an applications in spreadsheets class by reading over word docs. He NEVER demonstrates using excel, leaving students confused and when asked questions, he usually responds with an attitude (or not at all). He only gives one midterm and one final. It's an easy class, but terrible experience.
NOT THE PROFESSOR U WANT TO TAKE for CIS You have to go to class for attendance but there is no point of going to class because he literally reads off the slides, no knowledge of the subject and gives less time on the tests!! The textbook has same answers as yours for the mcq but the system marks them wrong. He has an attitude
Always seem to have an attitude with the class. Doesn't know how to teach, only read off powerpoints, don't answer emails b/c "I have too big of a class". Tests are nothing based on his lectures, the textbook only helps to a certain extent and some of his answers are even wrong, doesn't even bother to correct them.
If youre going to take him during the pandemic, youre making a big mistake. The questions come from the publisher of the textbook so his lectures are completely useless. He never responds to any emails. He thinks hes always right and doesnt take into consideration of the students until they complain to the Dean about him. Good luck.
WARNING!!!! Do not take him, literally one of the worst professors that I have had at Baruch. He makes his assistant create the test and the answer key, 7-10 answers are usually wrong on that key, but then he only gives you a curve of 4 questions. He doesn't care about the grades of his students, if you do good you'll be suspicious of cheating.
I don't get this professor, for his midterms students reported that he mark students wrong for having the right answers even though the students show evidence within the textbook and his slides. In response, he stated that we are cheaters, and the best he can do is give us 5 points even though like 20% of his test were wrong.
Only graded by three exams, two hws, and SAM assignments. He can't teach to save his life nor does he even understand how to responds to emails. Also, his exams have a lot of mistakes even tho he uses the same ones from 2016. He also does not like being wrong either like at all as it took him two weeks to find out there were mistakes on the exam.
2 exams 1 final, 2 homework assignments and SAM which all CIS classes have to do, his exams are okay.. but tricky he curves a lot and you should be able to pull an A- or A without putting too much work into the class
the course was just him reading off of a powerpoint the whole time. He doesn't really answer questions and gets kind of defensive when he does. A few tests and one cumulative final. There is also an excel and access assignment. Overall, I taught myself the course content so definitely read the textbook, not just the slides!
He reads off the sildes in every lesson so honestly you are better off studying on your own. Only 2 Hws, SAM, and three exams. He curved the final by one letter grade up so B to a B+. His tests are not as hard as the other CIS prof but this class will be hard none of the less. Also on the first two exams he only curved 8 points up.
His teaching skills aren't that great, all he does is read off the slides. However you must use the textbook and you must do all the assignments that he puts out like SAM, Access/Excel, and SONA. Don't worry if you did bad on the tests and quizzes he curves, he drops the lowest quiz and test. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have made it to Zicklin.
For your own sanity do not take this professor. This class is not hard but I have never had a more incompetent professor. For being a tech course he has no idea how to do anything w/ the computer. He only grades through email which requires sending multiple emails bc yours will get lost. He is also rude and does not listen.
He is probably the worst freaking professor ever. Everyone in my class did super well in the midterm and final and guess what he did, HE CURVED DOWN ALL OF OUR GRADES BECAUSE WE DID TOO WELL IN THE CLASS. Anyways please don't take this man. You'll def regret it and ruin your GPA.
As long as you study and review you'll do fine. A few excel projects, a quiz for each chapter but he'll drop if something went wrong with the system, he curves on tests. You'll need to have some patience with him as he isn't the most tech savvy, but he's a good teacher that doesn't want you to fail.
