OMG! This class is so hard. If you ask for help he looks at you like you're weird. He doesn't make sense and he puts stuff on the test that he has not yet gone over. If you have to take him, get a study buddy!
Mr. Abraha was an excellent teacher, except for one fault: he rushes through everything. I ended up with an A in his class, due to his liberal use of extra credit and reading the chapters before we covered them, but if you are averse to studying, stay away. Also puts questions on tests that haven't been covered yet.
Hands on professor he will go the extra mile if you make an attempt. minimal time spent lecturing...LAB class...
Best Chemistry professor I have had. Dr Abraha taught his class with excitement. He went by the book for the most part, provided many handouts, and practice exams. Lecture was easy to follow if you read the book. Summer term was faster paced and required a lot of studying (on my part). I did better than expected - but you must study....
I do not recommend this instructor at all. He is difficult to understand, is not clear with his delivery of the material, does not seem to want to take the time to answer questions, and the exams contain material that has not been covered in the lecture.
I do not recommend this instructor. He is hard to understand, does not seem to want to take the time to answer questions, rushes through the material, and has questions on the exams that have not yet been covered in the lecture.
He is very difficult to understand at times. I took him for the lab so pretty much relied on knowledge from lecture to carry me through. If you have him for lecture...better get a study buddy!
1710 the lecture was hella hard. his accent is off the chain. people get negative F's on tests. he does not make his own tests. he does not go over things comprehensibly. he rushes through material. tests are hella hard and have questions that are not outlined on study guide. if you are master at chemistry, I dare you to take him. Good luck.
I like him, A little hard to understand at first. But he gives Tons of study material, and he knows what hes talking about, your in class questions will be answered.
He is a ridiculous professor. Our entire class failed both exams so far. He blamed it on us the second time. He rushes through everything and plagiarizes from a different textbook online. He doesn't teach what's on the ACS exam. If you ask a question he'll look at you like you have an IQ of 10 and then won't even answer the question really.
Very nice teacher but should not be teaching i cried today because i did so awful on my test and studied my @ss off in the tutoring center for like 37 hours this term what a waste!! should of took it with another teacher. Doesnt he get it maybe he shouldnt be teaching you dont got it dude!practice exams and quizes nothing like test. SO BEWARE!!!!!!
He is very helpful, understanding and has a very broad knowledge.
I found him to be helpful but demanding
Most of the class didn't like him, but I didn't think he was terrible. I wouldn't take him again though. Accent hard to understand, often makes typos/errors/ambiguities in his tests. Gave plenty of extra credit.
Aron goes really fast throught the material and tends to put notes out on the CNM website for you , but does not follow them in class so you tend to get lost if you have studied from the notes he gives.
Aron goes really fast throught the material and tends to put notes out on the CNM website for you , but does not follow them in class so you tend to get lost if you have studied from the notes he gives. He tends to go over things that you do not need to know and the tests that he gives are much harder and take too long to be completed in time.
I only got an A due to extreme curving, extra credit, and take home quizzes. I failed a couple of the tests. Aron doesn't seem to want to be a professor and teach, he just wants to go over the material as quick as possible and get out of class. I do not recommend him.
He was a fun lab teacher. He explained everything that you would be ding in the lab and was always ready to answer questions in the lab. Had a good sense of humor. As long as you go to class and listen you will do good.
Had him for 3 classes, made an A all 3 times. He lets you have a 3x5 card on tests. Read the book, do the work, write small on your card, you'll do fine.
He is not clear about what is going to be on the tests, or during class. Unless you have taken Chem before, he is not going to make any sense at all to those who are just learing it. Do not take, if you really want to learn Chem. I did I mention, DO NOT TAKE!!!
Got an A in his class, but didn't learn anything. He wasn't particularly stimulating. If you do a little bit of work you'll do fine, but he's not particularly helpful and his accent is kind of hard to understand. If chem is really hard for you, don't take him; if you just need to get the class out of the way, he's great.
After getting to know Aron, I found him to be very helpful and humorous. He is very willing to answer questions and does his best to make sure his students succeed.
Not a very fun prof.
Pretty cool guy.
Quit complaining his accent is not hard to understand and if you do the work and study you'll get an "A" just like any chem class. He's helpful if you have a question and I didn't take one class of Chem before his and now I understand the subject and passed with an "A" what more can you ask?
I have been quite surprised. I heard horror stories about him, but have turned out to really enjoy his class. I find him very helpful and friendly would recommend him to anyone and I would take his class again.
I would highly recommend Aron to anybody struggeling w/Chem - if you do the work you'll get a good grade. He allows notecards for his tests, gives quizzes & extra credit and is always available for questions. 2nd sem Chem is not easy for most people but he makes it very managable.
Very clear in his teaching methods. He is always available to help and offers a ton of ways to bring your grade up. I will take him for all my chem courses.
This guy was a great teacher.Study and you will do fine.TONS of extra credit. Chem is very hard but he was very easy to talk to and will help you. If you want a good grade you will have the opportunity..JUST STUDY!!! p.s all of his quizzes were take home!!
Very thick Eastern Indian accent made understanding a difficult subject even more difficult. Nice enough guy though..
He is very easy to understand (his accent is thick, but you would have to be a non-English speaker to not understand him) He offers tons of EC and offers to tutor you for free during office hours. His quizzes are take home. He makes chem easy!
His quizzes are take home. He makes chem easy! he goes over every thing really fast for a good teacher over all...
If you come prepared to class, then it's easier to follow along in his class. He goes thru things pretty quickly but gives some insights that are helpful in learning the material--just make sure you prepare by keeping up with your 1410 lecture section and you'll be fine. He's very helpful if you just ask, in class or during office hrs.
Very helpful. Clear lecture and fair. I recommend him but need to do your work.
Take home quizzes. Drops lowest grades on the quizes. Nice teacher. Also liked his lab.
Aron is a great teacher. The subject is hard, but he really does his best to teach you what you need to know. He offers office hours and will help you. He has "suggested" problems to work. Do them! Read your book, show up to class, take his lab. He loves Chemistry and it shows.
This is a good professor. He is helpful and willing to assist if asked. He packs a ton of info into his lecture, so make sure you take notes and study. You'll pass this class if you do your work.
I enjoyed his class. he has high expectations but does all he can to help.
at first he was hard to understand because english is his 2nd language but after the first week or so he lightened up and was a lot of fun.. he grades really nicely too. I got a good grade in his class. just follow the instructions and youll do fine
As a teacher he sucks. Goes way too fast with his lecture and his accent is really not that helpful. And He knows it. However he compensate for being very helpful if you have any questions with the lecture. He his willing to show you how to do it. Therefore utilize his office hours. Lots of extra credit opportunity.
he has an accent so he is hard to understand BUT if you can get past that he wants to you to pass the class. he curves the grades alot and lets you take a note card into each test. He has TONS of extra credit. He is funny but hates people talking during his lectures!
The class material is not the easiest but he does a great job explaining. He is always willing to help and gives a lot of option work to help you understand the material. I took the condensed summer class so it was a little more fast paced, but if you take advantage of all the extra help you can get an A. He really knows a TON about chemistry.
This is a very difficult subject, but the teacher is clear and helpful. Gives extra credit as well.
Great teacher, gives lots of extra credit and curves your grade. Answers any questions you have. If you have to take Chemistry I would suggest taking his class.
Very helpful and clear
He is a great lab instructor. His accent is very understandable. He helps you if you are stuck on a problem or part of the lab instructions. He also goes through the directions in the pre lab. I would definitely take him again.
This is the third class I have had with Aron. He's excellent. Although the material was very hard for me, he offers extra credit, and is more than willing to help any way he can. I couldn't have passed the class without his help!! Hope he teaches all the rest of my required Chem. classes!!
I like Dr Abraha because he gives clear lectures and he genuinely cares about students. He goes out of way to help his students.
I do not like this guy as a chemistry instructor. He wants you to ask questions, but gets frustrated when you ask or puts your question off. He SPEEDS through the material at lightening speed, gives A LOT of homework. He constantly tries to keep the class late just so he can squeeze in a bit more. Plus side are the take home quizzes.
If you don't like to study outside of class then don't take this class. If you are a serious student and understand that you should actually read the good and work the suggested study problems this is your class. He always answers questions gives tons of extra credit and take home quizzes. Puts questions on exam from practice exam. Enjoyed class.
He is an ok teacher. Unless you have some prior chemistry knowledge his class will be somewhat difficult for you. He expects you to understand him, even when he confuses himself. That was frustrating. He does give a lot of extra credit though.
He was a very nice teacher, but extremely confusing and I didn't understand the material, he was not so great when it came to giving examples. He also goes extremely fast.
allows note cards on tests (not final due to national requirements). has a tendency of standing in front of what he is writing, making it very difficult to follow along if you are a more visual learner. horrible at pacing - we were frequently behind due to spending too much time on unneeded subjects. his lab class also lacked organization.
The lectures were extremely disorganized, and he frequently made errors on basic problems (as well as complicated ones) from class. He couldn't even complete his own test problems for the third midterm exam. On top of these problems, his English is not the greatest. While I will say he is a nice person, I would recommend other instructors.
While I will say that he is a nice guy, his lectures are horrible. In an hour and a half two times a week, you get to hear him talk the whole time. He frequently asks questions to the class but always answers them himself very quickly. Right now, my class is behind and I am learning far more useful material from my lab professor than anything. DNR
His lectures were very confusing and rambling. He uses premade slides from the internet and often skips topics, promising that he'll come back, but he never does. He can be patronizing when students don't understand something. However, he seems nice enough and willing to help students if they ask. I wouldn't have passed without the textbook to read
It really helps if you read the chapters in this class, preferably, before the material is covered in lecture. Mr. Abraha undoubtedly cares if you pick up the material or not, but sometimes he missed vital details that determine whether you understand the concept or not. He gives practice tests before the exams and that makes being successful easy.
Difficult to understand does not explain things on students level
He is okay. He's real funny but doesn't get his points across clearly. Was going to a tutor a lot and still struggled with the way he explained things in class! Would not recommend he's hard to understand due to a thick accent!
He was a strict teacher but very clear. If you had a question he would explain it to you. I had him for my chemistry lab class. He tried to make it fairly simple and easy to understand. We had quizzes every week and a final. But he would help you with your quizzes before you turned them in. I recommend him if you are willing to work hard.

Having to retake Chem 1492 due to his lack of explanation regarding subject matter. Do NOT recommend. I wish I would have looked on this site prior to taking him as an instructor.
I will never take Aron again. He is very unclear, rushes, skips over topics, and overall not good at teaching. Essentially, I had to teach myself the subject matter after class through the book and online sources. I only used his lectures to guide my own reading and research. I passed with an A, but only due to my own research and reading.
I really loved being in Aron's class. He is absolutely hilarious ! His lectures are very good, easy to understand the material once he explains it. If you are having trouble, he offers a solid amount of extra credit to bring your grade up. Very happy that I took him!
Aron was an all around awesome professor. He has a great sense of humor! In lectures he reviews things before he moves on and will always explain it if you need further help-breaks it down into simpler terms and uses references that you can relate to. He uses Sapling for homework but gives you more than enough chances for extra credit! Passed with A
Has a heavy accent, very long lectures that are not as helpful as one would hope
I see alot of mixed reviews about Aron. This class is not very hard at all, he is always willing to answer questions and meet with you outside of class. On top of that he gives 2 chances for extra credit and also drops one out of 5 quizzes. Theres no homework really and he gives out good study guides for all the exams.
Mr. Abraha is super laid back. English isn't his first language and he has an accent, but it's nothing that you can't make sense of easily. His lectures before the lab aren't as good as some other profs, but they're enough to get by. Especially if you read the procedure before class. His labs are probably better than his lectures are.
His is caring and fair. He lectures with clarity . Always available to help
Awesome instructor. I enjoyed his class
His handwriting is very very sloppy and he has a heavy accent. The lecture is very packed and he has slides but he is not very organized with the PowerPoint. He gives a practice test which is very similar to the actual test. He lets us bring in a 3x5 note card on the tests. He goes over the test/quizzes when he hands them back.
Professor Abraha is an amazing professor. He really wants everyone to pass his class. This class was not hard, show up do you're quizzes and post labs and you will be fine. Wish Aron taught more classes because I would definitely take him again. He lays everything out very clear. He is also funny at times, I highly recommend this professor!!
Easy Professor, but hard to understand. Knows his stuff with chemistry. Weekly lab quizzes. Only need to complete the lab report sheet, not the prelab or postlab. Quizzes come from questions in lab manual. Willing to help whenever you need it. Would definitely take again.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. I had him during the transition into quarantine I had a 87.5 & he refused to give me a 90 ruining my GPA. He does not have the best intentions for his students. He has an extremely thick accent & writes extremely small on a massive white board. He does not communicate with his students & leaves us lost.
Even though the class is online, every week he sent out email reminders to his online hours. Every week he reached out to all in class to see if everyone was ok or needed help with the material. Answered emails immediately. Provided numerous resources and tons of helpful aids. This teacher bent over backwards to make sure all students were learning
(CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR ONLINE)took chem/chem lab. textbook not necessary, his powerpoints every week are very detailed and exactly what is on the quiz. Quiz open book/notes. Failed chem before but with him it was so much easier he gives you what you need to succeed. he cares. Awesome instructor. Quick grading. Did not have to email him for anything
Took him for chem lab last year. Didn't disappoint at all. He tries his absolute best to help us and when we finished early, we could either leave or we could just talk to him. Very kind caring teacher.
Professor not available for questions. If you ask one through email he doesn't really help. Also uses other professors lecture videos and not his own. I have been in his class 10 weeks and have no idea what his face looks like. Does not update syllabus.
He definitely will stop and go over the material until you understand it as long as you ask him to elaborate/give more examples. He offers a practice midterm & final for extra credit which really help. Lots of Chem101 online homework and quizzes but he is generous with extensions if class doesn't understand/needs more time
This class was super chill taking it with professor Abraha, I was also taking it over the summer with few classes so maybe that played a rule but professor Abraha was always willing to go over confused material and responds quickly! This class was pretty straight forward and as long as you put in the work you will pass!
I realized my passion for chem after this class! really enjoyed learning from him, I feel like his lectures taught everything necessary and his analogies were incredibly helpful. He always expressed his availability if we needed help and was very vocal about the upcoming assignments and requirements. One of my favorite classes I've ever taken.
This class was an online blended class. Had to go to campus for midterm and final. Be prepared when he says you can only use one sheet of notes, the midterm and final are going to be the hardest tests and most likely not going to be in the notes you were able to take. Quizzes were easy. For a Pre-req this class shouldn't be this tough.
I really enjoyed this class. You do have to understand the topics and focus to do well on the exams. He provides different ways to learn the topic with any question asked. He does go fast in class but gives many examples, answers questions, and a study guide for each exam. Quizzes are take home. There are 4 exams including the final.
information overload. Per topic/week, there is textbook material, 4 or 5 youtube videos, a powerpoint, and usually 2 lecture videos that are around 25 minutes each. The quizzes are open book, but the questions were harder than the material learned. Felt like I was drowning a bit this semester in this class.
The material covered was not explained well. He used other professors lecture videos and did not go over the midterm and final very well. He gave us things to study but nothing he would tell us would be on those exams. The only easy part was the quizzes and the exams you got to do at home Towards the end of the semester everything felt rushed.
Wants to help but there is a heavy language barrier. Understanding him is effortful due to accent and thought organization. Has trouble listening to students' full question to understand before answering; students are reluctant to clarify questions for fear of wasting even more time. Grading feedback is unhelpful at best. He's ok if no other choice
Pre-lab lectures go too long to allow doing both the lab and quiz comfortably. Wants to help, but hard to understand due to language barrier and thick accent. Grading and feedback is unhelpful. He's approachable, but students avoid asking questions because he often misunderstands and students don't want to clarify and waste add'l time.
He doesn't seem to care about his student's success, he puts no effort into teaching, and doesn't teach you how to do things, just does a bunch of problems in front of you. I'm usually a straight A student and I had to drop this class because I was doing horribly in it.
Very lecture heavy. The way deadlines are set is pretty stressful.
The chem class I took was online. He never responded to emails when I had a question. Even when I tried going to office hours he was not much help and I felt rushed to leave the meeting. This professor is not the type of person who wants to help you succeed in his class.
I'm not too sure why Dr. Abraha has such low ratings. I found him to be helpful, If you had a question he would go out of his way to make sure you understood and would ask the class if they had an additional questions. I could see why people might find him a bit intimidating, he seems to be really stern but after a few weeks his humor shined.
This is the only CNM class I have gotten a B in. Professor Abraha is not the best professor. His lectures were very hard to understand and anytime someone would ask a question he would look at them like they were stupid. I told him I had gotten stuck on a certain concept and then every other question we did with that concept he would call on me.
Professor Abraha's CHEM1120 class can be challenging, but he provides ample support. Stay engaged, use the textbook and resources like unstuck ai, and you'll learn a lot. Exams are tough, but he cares about student success.
None of the tags necessarily apply, however, he was the most difficult person to reach. I never got a single email back from him with any questions. Not all questions in lab reports are written clearly. The entire experience was just "meh"
He was okay but wasn't good at teaching he also has a accent so that makes it harder to understand when anyone would ask him a question he would say this is easy and makes you feel dumb then tries to explain it again but doesn't really help so no I would not take him again
