Great professor. Very diligent - doesn't waste time. Witty and funny. Really wants to teach you the subject and makes it interesting. Not difficult to get an "A" if you pay attention. There are unfortunately two group projects, some tests and homework (doesn't have to be right). Strongly recommend if it's your major. You will learn a lot!!!!
He is super passionate in teaching the subject. Always well-prepared for lectures and knowledgeable about accounting. You will learn a lot out of the class. There are 3 one-hour quizzes(which he calls test), no tricky problems, just learn what he teaches in class and you will sure get an A. He is negotiable about grades too. Highly recommended!
We need more prof like Aron. There was no nonsense in his class, no time wasted, no BS. It was interesting and easy to just sit and listen. He makes it soo easy and really cares. Schedules extra sessions on weekends to prepare you for tests, always available after class. He's funny and smart. Very dedicated. Definitely take him and enjoy.
Mr Segal is always helpful; he replies to emails almost immediately, goes through test papers with you, he is funny and often hyper in classes. His classes are always interesting, which is pretty ironic because Accounting is a boring subject.
I think he is one of the greatest professors in BC. His clear, interesting lectures encourage you to learn Accounting, which would be hard and boring for many students. Even though I had failed another ACCT 201 before, I could get A from Segal's class. I'm sure you won't regret :)
Professor Segal is an amazing teacher. He is so helpful with all assignments and is always available when you need him. I liked his teaching style so much in 202 that i am taking 203 this summer. If you want to understand accounting, this is your man!
one of the best teachers
Fantastic teacher! He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone understands it, and if you don't he will help you in his office hours. Very clear, very energetic, funny and fun teacher. Highly recommend him!
1st, peparing to drop the class if you come to class late twice. 2nd, he is very picky person. 3rd, you will find out ...if you take his class. I wouldn't recommend his class
Failed my other accounting class. Currently taking his class. His office is ALWAYS open. Answers all your questions email/phone/text/office. Lots of extra credit. He takes attendance. Quizzes easy, exams a little more difficult. Read your textbook and make sure to do hw. He is so happy and gets distracted but so good at going back. TAKE IT!
It can't be denied that Aron's a good instructor,he talks a lot in class. That wastes our time, then he makes up by giving us the review sessions, which are 2hours each.So we have to come. The "RS" makes him look good, but it bothers all of us b/c it wastes even more time trying to attend. It'd be perfect if he concentrated more in class.Hopehe realizes
Aron works more than he is paid for. HE TEACHES HIS STUDENTS MORE HOURS THAN HE IS PAID FOR. His office always opens to help you. I DON'T WHY SOME PEOPLE SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT HIM WHILE HE IS A WONDERFUL INSTRUCTOR. Take his class and you will learn a lot about accounting.
He is a wonderful teacher, and one of the best teacher I've ever know. He likes to teach and help students. Accounting subject is hard, but he makes it interesting and easy to understand. He is one of the reasons I chose my major in accounting!! If you need to take ACCT class, you should take his class.
Great teacher. Class is easy if you put in the effort and read, do hw, participate, and study so its NOT one of those classes that you fail at even after a lot of effort. EVERYTHING is based out of the book so if you do the work you'll get a good grade. Fun, smart, experienced good teacher.
(I'm sitting in his class writing this) I personally DESPISE accounting. But Aron is my favorite professor at BC. I've had him for 2 quarters. This is not an easy class at all. And he does not hand out A's easily. But this class will be well worth your time. If you want to succeed then Aron will help you. Highly recommend his class.
Aron is a great teacher. His armband of whiteboard markers is awesome!
Took him in 201, 202, and next qtr for 203. why? He is passionate, makes sure you understand the material and will take time to do so. He always seems to be in his office talking with a student or grading work. tests are hard. read your book. go to class. group work easy if you have a good group. do your work and you will suceed.
He always tries to trick you. If you already registed his class, don't belive him because he isn't as good as he tells you at the first day of the calss. He loves to waste your time. He doesn't assign a lot of homework, but it's bad for you and you won't be able to realize that until you take exams and the final exams.
If accounting was a religion, Aron would be the pope! Great teacher, he makes a lame subject such as accounting very tolerable. Only teacher I know who wears a home made arm band. Apparently he knows how to sew as well. He is a man of many talents. Go to class, pay attention and do the HW. He is ALWAYS available to help.
If you really want to learn accounting, don't take his class. At the end of the quarter you will realize there are so much you should know but unfortunately he didn't teach. His group project is the worst project I have had in BC. He can't get students involved in the project. His class is also very distracted.Too much nonsense talking.
"Oh, sorry guys.We was to supposed to do practice exam(s)/homework." That's what he always said because he didn't want to teach. Also his group project was SO HARD and REQUIRED a lof of work. Don't expect A's in his class. Take his class if you want to listen silly conversations. "Sorry guys, sorry guys........funny
There are better accounting teachers at BC, considering the 4 hours every week I sit in his class, I do not learn much for about 3 hours. He goes off subject about the most random stuff and goes back to accounting until he figures class is almost over. Parts of the final he did not teach at all since it was a department final.
He is very passionate to teach that he is available as long as he is present in his office. The exams given are not too hard but we need to be meticulous. The group project is pretty hard if you do not fully understand the material. He really want to improve his teaching quality that he made a mid survey class evaluation.
I am ending my third quarter with Aron. Great teacher. Very helpful, available to help and lays the class out in a good way. occasionally gets off topic which is good because its pretty tough to sit through two hours of accounting. Not an easy class but not hard if you actually do the work. Projects need a bit of work. Highly recommended. he cares
Aaron is one of the BEST teachers at BC, he is kind, no BS teacher, who is genuinely interested in you and WANTS you to pass. I retook 202 with him and wished i could take 203 as well, he is very clear, and makes learning fun, he gives very easy light homework, but is willing to go over it during class if you need to. TAKE HIM FOR ACCOUNTING!!
Aron is a great teacher. Yes, he get's off topic once in a while but it's a great break in between topics. He is willing to help if you take the time to talk to him. Aron is honestly a great professor and person defintley take the class with him if you can. It is challenging but as long as you do all the work you'll be fine.
As he says, this is a "weeder class" for the business program - it was very challenging! Forced me to remain at the top of my game, but I've never learned so much from any class I've taken. Always available in office, lots of extra credit opportunities, and fun group project. Recommended if you're going into Accounting. Worked hard and got an A!
This guy loves to talk, but doesn't want to do his job of teaching. It appears he is a nice guy, but he isn't. He is mean and selfish. The reason I say this because he doesn't want his students to do well in class. So they'll have to visit his office(always open). WHY?"I want to be promoted in the future because I'm just a wonderful teacher." :( :(
I though I liked Aron but by the end I had wished I had dropped the class. He grades extremely hard, this is evident on the two group projects. The scorecard project has nothing to do with accounting and is usually covered in 500 level classes and we were suppose to construct three after glancing at a slide. This project was almost 25% of our grades
Aron is a horrible teacher. Projects are confusing and if you talk to him he will give different requirements then what is on the assignment. There are two group projects so 30% of your grade is based on your lazy partners. I'm a 4.0 student who works in accounting, this class shouldn't have been so hard for me, but I'll be lucky to get a B.
Think his class is the most important in the college. Need to be a good pet to get good grade. Horrible. Not really teach.
Aron is the best instructor I have ever taken at BC! He makes accounting fun and makes me look forward to the class. If Aron available, take him!!
I like aron, but he makes you write too much. The UW policy on writing credit is 10 pages of written materials. If you do both of his projects correctly, you will have written beyond this mark (in an accounting class!). For this reason alone I do not recommend him. If he cuts down on the assigned writing then he will have a perfect class.
Aron is a good teacher when explaining the materials but he graded like the worst teacher ever. His participation slips is just stupid. If everyone did not get full credit for participation, it means that he did not provide sufficient opportunities and that might make some student's grade to drop. Moreover, his scorecard project drop my grade a lot
At first I didn't like Aron b/c I thought he got off topic at times. However, he always made the class laugh and fun. He makes himself sound harder than he is, but overall as long you focus and do your HW you will succeed. He cares dearly about every student and wants his students to pass and understand the material. He's better than you think!
Aron's class is great if you want to learn a lot of real world experience and practical accounting. However, be warned that the class is much harder compared to other classes and very few students will get above a 90% from him. If you value your GPA highly then I'd recommend finding another teacher. Otherwise, you'll get a good experience.
Aron is a wonderful teacher, and one of the best teacher I've ever know at BC. He is very passionate in teaching the subject. Always well-prepared for lectures and knowledgeable about accounting, take his class and you will learn a lot from him. I took Acct 203 in summer for first time, and I really join going his lectures. Highly recommend him!!!
Aron is the best instructor I have ever taken at BC! He is very passionate to teach that he is available as long as he is present in his office. He makes accounting fun and makes me look forward to the class. Highly recommend him and you will learn a lot from him!!!
Aron is such a great teacher but he is fairly difficult. There was one main group project so you'd better like working with others but it was a good lesson in working with others. Overall, great teacher and really is there for you if you need any help at all. For sure will take again!
Aron is great professor. He is really trying to help his student. He gives extra lecture for midterm or final. He is one the best professor at Bellevue College.
Aron is hilarious and really cares about his student's. He makes the material a lot easier to understand. He gives extra credit but not lightly I would get it all out of the way ASAP participation is key in his class however attendance isn't required. If you put in the time and effort you will pass! Took him for 201,202,203
Aron is one of the best professor at the Bellevue College. He makes the class interesting and funny. Caring about his students 100%. Take him definitely for accounting!!!
The hardest instructor to understand. He might not be a bad person, but he REALLY lacks teaching skills. He is lazy, and greedy on marks. I would not take his classes again!
Pretty cool teacher I love his lectures, always useful and fun. You should answer questions or give your opinion to get attendance credit when taking class, speechless will not be encouraged in this class. The group presentation and paper is the most difficult part to me, the homework, quiz, exam is fine.
Aron was the best teacher I've ever had. He's super funny and makes lectures fun even if the material is somewhat boring. The only down side is the group projects but you do have a chance to grade each group member on their overall contribution to the project. Aron is also a really good overall resource. Take him, you won't regret it.
Aron is very solid. He teaches well, and make sure his students learns. Make sure to attend class and listen to him and you will get an A! Additionally, he replies to his students very quickly and is always willing to help. Overall, one of the best teacher that you could have and I am definitely taking him next quarter!
Aron is very passionate and clearly loves what he does. If class discussions and participation helps you learn, then this class will be great for you. The is homework every week that is graded, but its very short. The tests and the group projects are pretty hard, and you'll need to work to get an A. Has clear expectations, but doesn't give out A's
Aron is clearly very passionate about what he teaches. He cares deeply about his students and is always willing to help. I'm not really crazy about accounting, but Aron manages to make that class enjoyable.
Aron is FANTASTIC. I took him for all of my accounting sequence, and I'm so happy that I did. He is not only super funny and very relatable, but he's a great instructor - accounting isn't easy, but he really does his best to make it clear. if you're still having trouble, his door is almost always open if you're having trouble with the material.
Aron is by far the best professor I've ever had at BC. I took 201 and 202 with him, and I really hoped he was teaching 203 in the Fall. If he's available, don't think twice and register for his class right away. He's hilarious, and he genuinely cares about his students, and most importantly he makes Accounting enjoyable!!
He was one of the worst professors I've ever had. The whole class has a group project in addition to all of the other course work and no time to work on it in class. He gave group papers and didn't give us a rubric, over half of the class failed the second midterm and he doesn't curve. If you take his class, study as much and as hard as you can.
Aron is a nice guy but unfortunately his group projects ruin the class. For the group projects, you have to write multiple papers which he grades very hard. There is no rubric or guideline for the papers, so you just have to hope you did everything to his liking. I did very well on all the tests and homework, but his group projects dragged my grade
He is very arrogant an not funny but he grade very hard on the group project he even grade the grammar. I recommend if you take this class get a good group and do the project and then ask him any thing before submitting or show him your final paper because he really will kill your grade with this. He explain the chapter on class but not the well.
Aron is the BEST. Actually makes acct fun, and gets you engaged in the material, even when he's making jokes left and right. You go over problems before moving on to a new section, so it's clear what his expectations are. A tough grader on the group project though, beware! He chooses your group for you, which kinda sucks. But would take again, 100%
Aron is one of the few professors I have had that makes me enjoy the subject I am learning. Accounting is very dull but he manages to make it interesting. He is often available to talk which is very important for your group project! Show up, answer a few questions, and do the homework and this class will be a piece of cake.
Aron grades extremely hard and is very unfair. His way or the highway. I have a 3.85 GPA cum. and am not going to pass this class which says a lot. Has group projects and they are randomly assigned so you have to try to communicate with people you never meet which is hard when there is a 3000-3500 word paper due that you all need to work on.
Take again!
He is the worst instructor and person ever! Dont take his course even though thats your only option for the quarter.
He assigns essays in ACC class which makes no sense to me! He also values your grammar heavily. He talks about not-related stuff for the first 30 min in class which is so confusing. It seems to me that he just doesn't want students to get A! He values your intelligence level not your hard work! He expects you to be as neat as him-a pro accountant!
Ive managed to maintain a 3.80gpa for awhile now and this class just killed it. As much as I like Aron as a person, do not take this class if you want an A. This is an easy class, but his group project will ruin your grade. He is very unclear about his grading criterias. He treats it more like an advanced English class than an ACCT class.
Aron can be a tough grader but he's still very fair and quite funny. The group project impacted my grade the most. In the coursepack, the parameters for the project were adequate but a rubric would have made it more helpful. This class is very vocabulary-heavy, so be careful with the terms you say and how you explain them in the group essay.
ARON IS PROFESSOR GOALS!!! He's one of the best professors I've ever had. He's hilarious, witty, smart, he's very knowledgeable about accounting, and he's really nice. Show up to class, do the homework, and put in the effort, you'll definitely get an A. Take Aron for all your acct classes and save yourself lots of pain!
Aron is one of the least flexible and accommodating professors I've ever met. The class average on our second exam was an F. Literally an F. If an entire class literally fails a test, something is wrong with the test. Did he care? No. His response was that we didn't study hard enough and didn't try. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.
Spends anywhere from 40% to 90% of class on non accounting topics! Topics are like cars, drug use, politics, etc and he swears a lot! It feels like the accounting topics are rushed!
Not an easy class. HW and quiz for each chapter. Plus there's a big group project that's broken up into stages. Then there's two hella hard midterms. He's got some extra credit available tho.
Aron is an engaging instructor and I enjoyed his flare for keeping your attention. He isn't dull, and won't drone on or read from the slides. He's very accessible and truly helpful outside of class, too. I asked for help on my personal statement and received top-notch feedback that was more helpful than the writing lab folks. Take his class!
Homework assignments took a minimum of 2 hours and were worth 5 points. Discussions took 5 minutes and were worth 6 points. Grading didn't make sense. Due to COVID-19 everything switched to online so you are teaching your self from the book (No lectures). Tests are INSANELY difficult. The group project is structured ridiculously.
Good class, straightforward, exams are not that challenging and only slightly harder than the practice exams. Group project kinda sucks bc I did all the work for it but if your group is more cooperative it's probably more manageable. Content is fairly easy, emphasis on understanding the homework and readings!!!! Overall pretty solid class :-)
Aron does not answer questions directly and will go on a long rant that circles your question. I dont find him helpful when it comes to answering hw questions or test questions. He will tell you to look at the assignments and will not answer your questions. Project doesnt have a clear rubric, its overall fine tho if you have good group members.
Aron was great and very reasonable!...(although a tough grader when it comes to writing papers). This was an online class and the lecture videos need to be suplemented with lots of reading or else it will be hard to understand the chapter content. If you take the class in person, you may get more from the lectures. Exam review sessions were great.
Aron Segal was a reasonable teacher, he gave a normal amount of homework and was available but his grading on projects was not good. It felt as though he expected us to be professional Management Accountants. It was very hard and overwhelming as there wasnt a lot of information about the expectations or the project or any examples. Be prepared
Hello, Do not under any circumstances take a class from this guy. There is absolutely no learning that goes on, The group project I had to to participate in was so awful and was the reason that my grade dropped from a 88 maybe even 90 percent to a D. I also spent most of the semester writing and doing an essay. I would rather take an 8 am then this
When taking this class, I was not expecting the quizzes will be more complex than the actual assignments. So if you're taking this class, just a warning that he doesn't really expects us to get help on the final exam and how to do it. the group projects really affect your grade if your group doesn't do well on them.
He can be very contradictory in his explanations of things in his feedback on work and it feels like the course offers very little to benchmark where your understanding is at prior to tests. This makes test difficult, as there are only about 5 mc questions in average- making it easy to fail. He does use the few assignments to bump grades though.
His discussion/project/quiz prompts are vague and confusing, but he wants a specific answer. It seems like he's trying to take off as many points as he can. The final group project assignment dropped my grade by 6%. He offers extra credit in "Miscellaneous Events" so check that assignment often because he won't post announcements for extra cred.
I took Arons class for Act 201, 202, and 203.He really cares about his students. If you show that you care about his class and show up to office hours for help, he will help you so much. There are some confusing things in the class, the material is tough, but Aron takes his time to make sure everyone in the class understands everything.
No rubric for anything. Email him your draft for the group project so you know what he's looking for. Pray that you get at least one human in your group so you don't do it all yourself. I recommend taking the role of the leader you will get FREE extra credit doing this. MICROMANAGE. Quizzes and Midterms are easy just read the book.
Very tough grader. Project is a GRADE KILLER and you need a psych class to prepare you for it. Found the the professor never gave a direct answer to a question, rather it was a long winded example to provide a concept. The project again is a grade killer. HW is all hand written, which helps it sink in. Interesting person, kind of a cool hippie.
Terrible Group project. Doesn't explain concepts very well.
VERY VERY HORRIBLE, I TOOK HIM 2 YRS AGO AND IM COMING BACK TO WRITE THIS, WHAT AN EGOTIST PERSON, HE THINK HE KNOWS EVERYTHING, MISS THE DEADLINE FOR 1 MIN DIDNT ACCEPT OUR GROUP PROJECT, SAY THAT IS THE REAL WORLD, I TOLD HIM IN THE REAL WROLD, NO ONE CARES, GOT SO ANGRY JUST LOG OFF, I'M A CPA, AT WORK TO WRITE THIS CUZ SO ANGRY AT HIM AHHHHH
The group project is so confusing and will completely ruin your grade. Segal is engaging and keeps the lecture interesting. Personally hate this subject but professor is willing to help outside of class. Intro assignment, homework assignment and quiz for every chapter. Midterm + final exam. Big group project. Also participation points. Good teacher
Overall terrible professor. He swears a lot and is VERY loud and obnoxious. He tries to act like an Ivy professor with a class of 10 people. His project is horrible and is 99% dependent on your group. You need to read the entire chapter before it starts in class because the actual class is just to review. Workload is 6/10 to 9/10. Avoid if possible
Genuinely one of the most subpar teachers I have ever had he doesn't explain anything, textbook is terrible, nitpicks every small detail on ur assignments like he gets a dollar every time he takes a point away; absolutely horrendous grader. Super strict on his lockdown + webcam tests too, and is very eager to accuse everyone of cheating.
worst teacher oat. he tries to act tough in class by slamming stuff and throwing stuff around and making loud noises. he is always screaming and acts so cringe. he openly says that hes fine making his life harder as long as ours are too. he requires you to read the chapters before because his classes are only to gloss over smaller topics.
GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Make sure he knows you care and want to do well. Show up to class and read a little bit of the textbook EVERY DAY. Spread out the work because it will come bite you if you dont. He will avoid scheduling meetings or answering your questions as much as possible. Project is SO BAD! His rules and policies are so dumb. VERY picky guy
Weekly HW + reading takes 2-4hrs, but graded based on completion, not correct answers. Participation in class is mandatory for credit. TORE APART our final group project essay. Recommend you complete it >1.5wks in advance & go to him multiple times for feedback. Peer evals after every group submission for the opportunity of extra credit each week.
One of the more eccentric professors at BC but he's very funny despite his wandering mind syndrome he is excellent at making his rants actually connect to the topic. Also pretty hilarious, even though his grading is a little vague for the project.
