this guys funny and his classes are easy. take him
A very pleasant class. You don't even need the text, just go to lecture. And the planetarium shows are awesome!

Art is a super instructor. A big class for a community college, but he takes questions. Very organized & entertaining. Makes learning fun. Check out the new planetarium projector! It's a blast. Be sure to show up for class every day because he randomly has class assignments. No homework! Great class
awesome teacher, he is fun and very clear about what he want to teach us. a lots activitys, and very nice. just wonderful Go~~~ Art. you rocks
Very nice and good teacher !! Must A
An "A" in physics, who would have thought? One of the best teachers i've ever had. Hilarious, Smart, and easy. I took both physics and astr 101 with him. Don't miss class and never come late to astronomy. I still orions belt. hehe
BEST teacher ever! no homework, and he tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests! He also gives some great ideas for dates... he is great!
Nicest, funniest, most knowledgable professor I've ever had. A perfect 10
this guy is awesome. gooood teacher. goooood class. highly reccomended. but don't take it too early in the morning cuz the seats are comfy and the lights are off alot of the time. rad class tho.
Fantastic instructor. Opened the first day of class with a joke about why we're taking "Observational Astronomy" in the morning. Good point! Made the class extremely fun and a fairly easy "A" if you attended.
I have recommended Art to a lot of my friends. I looked forward to his class every day! He is very good at explaining things
This guy was the clearest teacher that I have ever had. I am already interested in Astronomy, but he made it way more fun that it already was. He explained things thoroughly and made sure that everyone understood before going to another topic. He presented the class in a very organized and timely matter. He was a teacher that actually care about his students learning the material, not just thinking that he has to do his job.
This is hands down the best teacher I've ever had in my life. He explained everything so well and was very funny. Its an easy A because he makes it interesting and easy to understand so you actually learn it. Best teacher ever!!
Art is an awesome teacher, his lectures were great and his tests weren't really that hard, and plus I learned alot from this class. Take it
Art is awesome. He's so funny. He makes jokes and bashes Pluto. He makes the class so interesting. The projector rocks. I recomend this class to all my friends.
great intructor, he knows his stuff well. If anything is unclear he will make it clear. The midterms are a breeze and so are the two assignments. It was fun when he turned on the stars because people start doing ugly laughs throughout the darkness. IF your gonna take ASTR take it will Art.
Art is a great teacher. take him if you have the chance A++
His lectures FLEW by, they were interesting and entertaining. I had very little trouble doing well on the quizzes and on the final. Should probably practice the star locations a little bit more in class, but I made use of the crude charts he provided and I ended up getting 100% on the star test. If you need a science, take ASTR w/ Art!
Art has to be one of my favorite teachers ever. The class is a breeze. Your grade can never go down, you start with an F though. You have to keep track of your own grades. Every class you do some hands on stuff and it is easy to rack up your 1000 points. If you liked 101 you will love this class!!!
Goss is awesome. His class was one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken. He never assigns homework. His lectures are interesting and extremely easy to follow. He made the class super easy, but yet I learned a ton. If you need a science credits, take ASTRON 101 with Goss, even if it's an 8:30 class it's worth it.
First and foremost, Art knows his stuff and is super cool about helping you after class if you didn't quite get something. The few assignments we were given were applicable to class, not just busy work. The tests were of varying difficulty, but not too hard if you studied. His lectures were interesting and hilarious. IDS classes are the best.
Online class was difficult. Limited feedback on lab.
hes a really easy going teacher, he loves his job, has funny stories and over all hes a really fun and easy going person! hes very willing to help you durning tests, if you dont understand the question, just go up there and he will clarify it for you.
Great teacher, group projects mostly, you have to write papers, but they aren't very difficult
Great Professor ! Unlike other instructors at BCC and UW. He is the best ! Very proud to take his class !
Funny, intelligent, wise beyond words and makes learning a joy. Really, no joke; Art is GREAT.
Goss is hilarious, makes really boring things interesting, and you learn alot about things that you never realized you could understand. Go to class and take notes. The tests are easy and there's no homework except for studying. Also, do not buy the overpriced textbook; listen to the lectures, that's all you need.
This class was VERY easy - homework answers are not graded, online lectures tell you what to study for quizzes, and labs take MAYBE an hour to complete. Not life-changing, but prereq was satisfied with an easy A.
I recommend this class to anyone and everyone. Art Goss makes astronomy interesting and fun to learn. You will get an A as long as you go to class every day, take notes, and study for the tests.
i had no prior interest in astronomy. i just needed credit but this Art Goss has made this class soo entertaining and you actually want to go to class and learn. we dont use the text book at all which is really nice, but his lectures are all you need. just take lots of notes.
Art is a cool dude. If you want an EASY lab credit ..TAKE...THIS...CLASS. It's so easy and fun, you will be surprized. Most people take BIO, or GEOG for lab, this is a LAB TOO. And it's 100 times easier and more interesting.
Fascinating teacher! He does well at appealing to peoples intuition and common sense when explaining big concepts. He has a wealth of experience in astronomy. He can tell a joke. Does not make the mistake that many professors make, which is taking themselves too seriously. He is great at facilitating the students understanding.
Taking Goss's class was the best decision I have made at Bellevue College.
best class I have ever been in my Life. Art is excellent and very approachable.
Awesome teacher. My favorite teacher of all time. I highly reccomend anyone who is thinking about taking astronomy at BCC to take it with Art Goss. He's the man.
Art is great. His lectures are entertaining, his tests are easy if you've paid attention in class, he tells you exactly what to study, and he sets aside time in class before tests to make sure everyone's questions are answered. And even though it's easy, I still learned a ton. You really don't need a textbook if you can take good notes.
really interesting class. he's a great teacher, lots of fun to listen to his lectures and the tests are easy if you've shown up to class. Dont buy the text book. We dont use it. I recomend this class
i took the online class and it was one of the easiest classes ive taken at BCC. There is no midterm or final, the only assignments are one assignment and lab a week and they are easy and interesting. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH GOSS
Art is the greatest. The class is fun and a little on the hard side. I have him right now and I can't say enough about him. He's a really, really cool cat. I wish every one of my teachers was like him.
Art is a GREAT teacher. He knows his stuff! He is always available for questions and his lectures ROCK!!Highly recommend his class.
Art Goss is truly an exceptional teacher. He's very funny. He's been teaching Astronomy for quite awhile and his presentation is very smooth and articulate. Textbook use is low. Don't miss class: his tests are based on his lectures and star-practice days in the planetarium. Every day is a total blast! You'll learn so much about Astronomy.
Took this online and it was a fairly easy class. Just do the work and you'll be fine. Prof very organized. Had nice weekly lectures to listen to. Wish I could have taken it on campus though.
I was really looking forward to Goss' class, however was a little disappointed. Lectures are not text, but rather a hodge-podge of recordings from various times and some with out-dated information, pieced together poorly. I wish he provided notes at least, as the lectures can get tedious and it's easy to lose focus, esp. in an online class.
He is definitly one of the best teachers I've ever had. His class is so much fun. He takes all your questions and answers them all. It was my best class in bellevu college.
Art was a great teacher! He was funny and nice and you can tell he loves his job. Take his online Astronomy 101, it was way cool!
Great teacher! Very knowledgable, & LOVED our class for asking a million questions which put us at least a couple of weeks behind. Class is in planetarium- great for visual learners. Clear lectures using powerpoint. Unfortunately little actual info on slides, so you can't really study from them.. so DON'T doze off in class!
this class was so ridiculously easy! i was dreading physics at the beginning of the quarter but art made it really simple. he's very clear on what he expects you to know and there are never surprises on the tests. if you attend class you'll ace it!
I absolutly LOVED this class and every morning i looked forward to it. Art is very knowledgable and very helpful. He takes all questions, which in this class put us a lot behind, but it was totally worth it. This class was amazing. besides if you only listen in class its a super easy A.
Art made learning astronomy fun. Every single day rocked!
Art made learning astronomy fun. He has a great sense of humor. Tests are based primarily on his lectures so plan on coming every day. This will be your favorite class
Fantastic class; fascinating subject--"no math" astronomy don't be afraid of this topic you'll learn tons of interesting info and it counts as a lab/all online material extremely clear. I only regret not being able to visit the planetarium! GREAT teacher! Study well for quizzes though lotsa questions/short time period. No midterm no final!
Such a fun class!!!
I took Art's class for the Physics 114 and 115. There are weekly homeowork assignments and in-class group work that is worth points. He allows a note sheet on all tests and the final isn't comphrensive. Available for extra help if needed but does an excellent job explaining concepts
Learned a ton! Looked forward to class everyday and not too hard or pressuring! Great prof!
Art, is a way cool instructor. I just wished the cass was not an online class only. I would much rathered of gone to class everyday than listen to lectures online, but that is not his fault.
Took Summmer Qtr and that being said work load was HUGE!Art gives awesome lectures and has a great sense of humour. Class calendar very helpful and labs are fun! Virtually NO math involved (loved that). Test are the hardest part of this class and are extremely challenging. Highly recommend taking on campus. I felt I missed out on somethings online.
I took this class online in the summer. The workload was tremendous but this was one of the most enjoyable classes I have taken. Art is a brilliant teacher. His online lectures are genius. His enthusiasm for the subject and for teaching really do come through. Great way to get that lab science out of the way.
Art Goss set the standard for how an on-line class should be run. Absolutely brilliant.
Goss is an ok professor. I took the Astronomy 101 online class in the Spring 2010. His class is well prepare and less stressful comparing to other online classes I took. I like the once/week homework and lab. The lab was interesting and the instructions were easy to follow also. He is a good professor who has passion in what he is teaching.
Best teacher at college level. Passionate, smart, funny.
Very nice teacher. Smart and funny. He makes his class enjoyable every time. He's well prepared. I love all the resources that he provides during his lecture. Tests are not that hard if you come to class. Recommend him.
Art is so AWSOME! He's passionate about what he's teaching and is hilarious. He has tons of stories and takes as much time as needed to answer any questions people might have. It's a very light workload with 3 tests and no class work. Art makes Astronomy fun for everybody!
GREAT TEACHER! One of my fav. classes (which says something since I'm an art student...science is NOT my thing.) I would HIGHLY recommend this class for anyone. Goss makes sure to teach the material in a way that people with all learning styles can understand. Hes also really fun! He makes jokes to keep the mood light and keep lectures interesting
Prof. Goss was great, really funny guy. Just attend class and take notes and you'll pass with flying colors. Learning the stars is super easy, he goes over the names of them with you so many times so you are beyond prepared for the final. Most people got 100%. Textbook not required, he'll even tell you so. Best class I have taken at BC!
This class was super easy. i took it online, and he was very organized prompt and helpful to all students. 4 tests, lowest dropped. 10 hw which he doesnt check, only that you did it. 9 labs. and posts lectures online.everything is due on mondays. great class to take if you have 2 other hard classes. also i never opened the book. i love google
I took the online lab class, and frankly, I didn't like it. Maybe cuz I'm not the online class type, but 4-5 chaps for a quiz (which requires you a whole ton of reading) was too much. I should've taken it onsite since you get to go in the planetarium. Quiz was hard for a person who doesn't care about the natural science like myself. I got a B.
Great online class! I had to take this online because of my work schedule. For an online class, this was about as good as it can get. Very competent and personable instructor. Well organized and presented. A schedule and syllabus that allow the student to know exactly what and when everything is due. One of the best instructors ever.
By far my favorite teacher! he used to work in a planetarium doing shows so he makes the class fun! his test are not that hard, you dont use the book its all notes but he makes it fun and easy. we had one assignment and it was in class, zero hwk. he also dropped out lowest test score. highly highly recommend him!
I loved this class. He was funny and willing to help. Open for discussions and questions. Not an easy A though. To get a good grade you have to study for tests.
Took this class online last winter and I have to say how great he is. One of the best teachers I've had at BC. He really knows what he's teaching and is passionate about it. His lectures are soooooo helpful because the textbook is kind of hard to comprehend. Still got an A in this class though. If you want to take Astronomy, you have to have this teacher.
Well, I am not a guy who loves science and I have done all the discussion and labs. The quizzes are very hard and I got a B even though I got full points for all hw and labs.
Art is the best! The tests he sets are really easy and are based on his lectures and the stars. We didn't actually use the book at all. I'm still in this class, and I'm having the best time. If you want to take Astronomy, take it from Goss!
Great teacher and great class! I've learned so much in this class and I definitely recommend it. He's a great teacher, and is really passionate about the subject. He's also pretty funny! If you take astronomy take it with him!!
(ONLINE). I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with the astronomy division @ BC and Art is no exception. He is more interested in teaching you VERY interesting information than stressing you out with deadlines and homework. If your stay at Bellevue College doesn't include an astronomy course... I feel sorry for you.
Awesome class! Great teacher, laid back and funny. Show up for class, the tests are all from his interesting lectures. take lots of notes. You don't need the textbook but I bought it anyway and have been reading along. reading along helps. no homework. 2 or 3 in-class worksheets, 3 midterms (he drops one) and the final. easy
Attendance is not mandatory. But notes shown in class will show up in tests and exam, so it is better to show up in class. Revise the notes before the test then you will be fine.
Best part about the class was how lenient he was with attendance! Really knows how to engage the audience and you didn't need to read the textbook at all. Highly recommend this class.
Took this class online and loved it! I actually learned things that I had no interest in at the beginning. Goss is thorough and engaging, even in an online setting. Multiple choice quizzes, "homework" with answers in the back of the book and class was over a full week ahead of others!
This class was wonderful. Art is a great teacher, his online lectures are funny and informative, the labs are easy, the homework is easy, and the tests are pretty easy too. You need to study for the tests, but you can use your book on the tests. I would recommend this class to anyone, and I would recommend Art as an instructor to anyone.
This is a great class. I took it because it looked the least painful of the sciences, but his lectures were so engaging and clear that I became interested in the topic. Unlike some classes I've taken, everything is very well organized -- it's not a struggle to figure out what's happening this week or what is due when.
I went into the class only sort of interested in astronomy, but he made the subject so interesting. He uses the planetarium to it's fullest extent and every class is literally a show. He does a sunset every day and everything. Theres like 2 tests the whole quarter, and no homework. I didn't even take notes and skipped a few days and still got an A.
Goss is an amazing teacher. He was so clear (and funny) in his lectures, and made the material very interesting. No textbook use at all. Come to class, take notes, and study for exams, and you should get an A, like I did. 3 midterms, a final, and a star test and that's it. I feel bad for anyone who does not take this class during their time at BC.
The Best Teacher Ever! He's always helpful, and he has really cool sense of humor. It's a lot of information to remember if you want to get good grades on exams, but this is so interesting! For me the hardest part was that English is not my first language. Nevertheless,he always clarified anything I didn't understand personally for me after class.
Art is absolutely phenomenal, don't hesitate to take astronomy with Art. This class is interesting just based on the material alone, but Art makes it enjoyable and incredibly easy to understand difficult concepts. No textbook use at all. Take good notes and come to class everyday (who wouldn't want to?!) and you are guaranteed an A.
This class isnt very hard. Every week you need to post on the online discussion, do a quick hw assignment and a lab. Also every 2-3 weeks you have an exam. There are 4 exams throughout the quarter and the lowest one is dropped.
Goss is a really good teacher and makes Astronomy a lot more interesting than I thought! He's really experienced as a teacher, and the way how he lectures really impresses me at how in-depth his knowledge of astronomy is. Occasionally I wish the class had more elbow room, because I wound up stretching a lot. I would definitely recommend!!
Wonderful teacher. The entire quarter was fantastic, I looked forward to class every morning! Astronomy is a fascinating topic on its own, but Goss makes it even better! The workload is reasonable and there is no textbook used in this class. Goss is helpful, funny, smart, and kind. I found it a treat to be able to use the planetarium everyday!
Signed up for this class because I loved ASTR 100 with Goss so much. This class is mostly group work in completing worksheets about various astronomy topics. Computer lab is used 5 days total during quarter. No textbook. Grading system is a bit tough, so do as many activities as you can to earn points. Goss is a great teacher.
Excellent teacher. Funny, clear, and truly cares about his work. You can tell he is really passionate about the subject. Teaches you everything you need to know in lecture slides.
Wonderful teacher! Everyday I learned something new and continue to apply it. LOVE Art Goss!!
Go to class and take notes. You should be fine. I only used text as a reference when studying for exams. Teacher was very prompt in e-mail responses. Don't get sick, he wont let you makeup an exam.
Amazing man! Very funny and smart. Coolest teacher I've ever had and really got me into astronomy. I'm already into science and space, but the information he has is SO COOL! Take notes on everything he writes, just because it's the most interesting stuff ever. Tests are mult. choice. No textbook use. Overall, amazing experience!
I'm a social science person, but this is one of the best classes I've ever taken. Doesn't take attendance but go to class. Your mind will be blown at least twice a week.
I've taken two of Art's classes and he's definitely my favorite professor at BC. The material does seem to be a little slow and maybe even a little boring in the first couple of weeks, but stick through it and you'll find yourself in some of the most fascinating lectures you'll likely ever have. Awesome guy and awesome course, easy recommendation.
Good teacher, very organized and clear.
For labs you basically do activities, so as long as you show up and do them you'll earn 100%, and that's most of your grade. No testsfinal and no textbook, just a weekly at home assignment that takes an average of 10-30 minutes, with a few being over an hour. Easy pie, awesome helpful prof, plus quantum theory to blow your minddd! 1010
I LOVE ART GOSS! Best professor out there! Come to class listen, study a little before exams and you will ace this class!! He makes you so interested in astronomy! Would definitely recommend!
Mr. Goss made me love astronomy! I was originally taking it because I thought it would be an easy A class, which it is, but now it is my favorite class! He is clearly passionate about astronomy, and his humor keeps everybody interested and engaged.
Art Goss is by far the BEST professor at Bellevue College! His class is super interesting and fun. He's a funny and nice professor. If you listen in class you will do great on Tests. Only one homework assignment each week, which is listening to a video and taking a quiz after. I promise you that every day you will come out amazed from that class.
Art Goss is an amazing teacher and hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed every class and there was never a dull moment! As long as you show up and take notes the exams will be easy. Also the weekly online quizzes are easy and have unlimited attempts.
Art Goss is one of my favorite teachers! He is hilarious, and is really passionate about what he teaches. Class time seems to fly by, but I learn so much!
Amazing class, he uses clickers in class for a grade instead of attendance so be sure you are there, lectures are intriguing but long, willing to answer questions, and really knows the content. DON'T GET THE OPTIONAL TEXT BOOK you really don't need it, I bought it and never even took it out of the package
Great teacher, explains great no reason to fail unless you skip class.
Art Goss is an astronomy legend. I feel like he was low key a famous astronomer at NASA or something. Anyways, this class was so informative and awesome. Definitely recommend taking it. Be ready to have your mind blown at least once a class.
Art is a great teacher and really knows his stuff. This is the second class I've taken with him and I've never been disappointed. His sense of humor is probably my favorite and he's a very intelligent being. Thanks Goss! You rock.
Art is a great teacher. I loved his lectures and he always making it lively. If I could take this class again I would. Three tests but drops lowest score. No essays. While he doesn't require attendance, if you don't go you will fail. But overall, AMAZING!
I love this professor. This class is so much fun! There are 3 mid terms, one star test where you memorize 20 stars which you will go over a billion times in class, weekly quizzes, & a final. He gives you study guides for all tests & quizzes you can take as many times till you pass. We also do clickers everyday which is why you NEED to go to class.
Loved this class! Class is held in the planetarium so everything you learn about is projected onto the planetarium ceiling. Art makes everything interesting and going to class is actually pretty fun. There are 3 multiple-choice midterms, then a final and a star test. You can only skip a few days or your grade will suffer, but notes are online.
I would maybe take this professor if it was on campus. The online stuff was unclear and was not helpful. Labs are hard to do online. Overall the class is very interesting!
I took Professor Goss's class as an online class. Overall it was a great class and would take again. The online class was set up by pretty much each week theres 3 assignments to do. Theres a discussion post where you respond to a question. a lab, and a reading. The labs are pretty straight forward, read directions. Take about an hour. Overall ok.
Art is definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. The class was a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend taking astronomy from him. Class was graded on in class 'clicker' questions, a few tests, weekend quizzes and the final. It was an easy class to pass, but if you skip you will definitely lose points from lost participation.
One of the best online classes I've taken! Art Goss is amazing, funny, and so passionate about astronomy. I learned so much from this class! Lab systems are pretty outdated though.
Art was such an amazing teacher! He's lecture were entertaining and he was very understanding towards personal issue. He always kept the class fun and interesting and you could miss class and still learn the material. No homework too!
His lectures really are great! Very helpful when trying to understand the material. 60% of the grade is comprised of very difficult quizzes so read the material thoroughly and be prepared with highly detailed notes. They are open book/note quizzes but you only have 60 min to answer 50 questions. Work hard and you can earn an A
Art is a very wholesome guy and makes the lecture material really interesting and entertaining. He plays classical music as the students walk into class (which is in the planetarium). Homework is simple and you know what to expect on tests. Study and you'll do well. Take the class with a friend for an even better experience.
Great teacher, he makes jokes during the class and is very interesting to listen to during planetarium shows. He will like your class even more if some of the students make comments and ask questions. There are 3 midterms, a final, and a star test. One of the midterms is dropped.
4 quizzes worth 60% of your grade, the lowest one is automatically dropped. Labs20%, HW15%, Weekly Discussion5%. I got 100% in all sections except quizzes. A new module opens up every week with (1-2) Lectures, (1-2)Textbook HW, 1 Discussion Topic and 1 Lab. Final grade was 95%. Put in some effort and you'll get an easy A.
I took astronomy with him last quarter and he was such a good professor. Lectures are actually interesting and he's funny. Makes the class fun and learning the stars really easy. Not really graded on much, one assignment per week and a few tests that are straight out of the lectures. If you show up and do the one homework assignment, you'll pass.
Really enjoyed this professor. You can tell he has a genuine passion for this discipline, made me want to go to class everyday. Very humorous guy too, finds a joke in everything. Not too heavy on homework, drops the lowest quiz at the end of the quarter. Wouldn't mind taking another class from him. If you show up and pay attention, you'll be okay.
Art is a great Professor. He is obviously passionate and knowledgable about astronomy. Biggest tip: ASK QUESTIONS! Sometimes his in-class labs can be confusing and he is a tough grader, but if you ask for clarification or help in class he is more than willing. No final, no tests.
The best online professor I have had in 67 college credits. Art has the setup of Canvas down to to fine art! Highly recommended professor!
Art is an amazing prof. He had dinner with the guy who discovered Pluto and he has pieces of a real meteorite- basically he is really passionate and expert in his field. That said, he doesn't care about his students very much and isn't too forgiving, but his lectures are SO visual and helpful and don't take hardly any studying outside of class.
I love this professor. His class so easy that you just need to follow the assignments will, you can get an easy A. The works that he gave each WEEK only took not more than two hours to complete. Come to the class, and you will enjoy it.
Took ASTR100 as a last minute decision and I do not regret it! Art makes every class super interesting and he is hilarious. There are four 50 question multiple choice tests throughout the quarter which are very easy as long as you come to class and do the weekly online assignment. Overall great class, amazing professor!
Great class! Don't buy the textbook because he teaches everything in the class and on canvas.
ART GOSS is THE BOSS. He is an amazing teacher. He is passionate about astronomy and he is hilarious !!! 20/10 Would Definitely Recommend . But it all seriousness, he is a really thorough instructor, and his lectures are straightforward yet he makes them entertaining.
Art is an awesome professor. Be prepared for 20-40 pages of reading every week though. Use the study guide to your advantage so you have a somewhat concise idea of what will be on the exam and take your time on it. If you rush, you'll fail. Your quiz with the lowest score is dropped so if you don't do well once, don't sweat it.
The professor was a great, hard subject. Huge chapters, about 2 per week. One lab a week--those were great! Answer a few questions from the book each week, as well as one very simple question. There are four tests, timed for 1 hour 50 questions--60% of the grade. One test dropped. I had a test emergency, and he was very understanding.
Overall great professor. He is very lenient with work, but make sure to at least try in class and always stay focused because the tests are not THAT easy. He is the humorous type of professor, also, the lectures make you go 'WOW.' I would 100% recommend this professor if you're considering taking one of his classes.
Professor Goss is an absolute gem! The class is extremely organized and straightforward. His lectures are audio, and the labs are so fun! If you do all the work diligently I guarantee you will end up with an A and a lot of amazing new knowledge. Take time to review for the tests because some questions are worded very specifically.
This class relied on lectures HEAVILY. There is usually at least one lecture about 45 minutes every week, sometimes multiple. If you aren't willing to lectures and take notes, this is not the class for you. I took this class Fall 2020. There is a textbook but I didn't use at all and ended with an A. Tests are somewhat hard. Very interesting class!
I think he just stopped caring during the pandemic. 1 1-2hr assignment a week but frequently a few days late. It's nice if you just want to breeze through the class, but I was disappointed as I didn't learn anything. Good for an easy A, but not if you actually want to learn about astronomy.
Overall great teacher, pretty hands off unless you needed help. Didnt assign more than 3 assignments per week. 10/10 would take his class again.
Professor Goss NEVER responds to emails and was an extremely slow grader. The quiz average for the whole class was 70% and the quizzes are worth 60% of the overall grades. The textbook was confusing and the study guide wasn’t even based off the reading. There are also no updates or reminders, just a vague syllabus. I recommend avoid this class!
It's quite obvious how uninvolved he is. The class was put together around 2008-2010, making it over a decade old at this point. Sometimes, I knew more than Past-Art Goss knew about certain facts simply because I follow NASA on Instagram. If you want to learn much, teach yourself. The teacher checked out before we had pictures of Pluto.
The labs being used are from at least 10 years ago but it's an easy class and you won't have a struggle getting a high grade.
Professor Goss is a good teacher, and the subject matter is fascinating. The lectures are good, but they're also 10+ years old and have barely been updated since they were first recorded. There's a fair amount of reading and note-taking to be done if you're thorough, but the quizzes are open book as well as open note so it isn't strictly necessary.
The lectures were fun and easy to focus on. The only thing is that the labs seem pretty outdated format-wise.
Very easy class. You read a couple chapters and week and do homework that isn't graded very strictly at all. Easy discussion post each week and honestly they are fun. Quizzes are open book and open note. I took the class as an elective and actually learned a lot.
Art is a hands-off professor, but his class is easy if you follow the assignments. The quizzes are tough, but unstuck study helped me prep. Overall, a solid course for an intro credit.
Professor Goss is Amazing! This is the only online class I have ever taken that doesn't feel isolating. He records his own lectures, which are a gem btw, gives us a shared space to discuss ideas and new topics every week, and the materials needed for the course are free, so no need to spend extra in books for this class, always a big plus!
