He is a temperamental teacher. I mean he is down to earth, smart, and explain the concepts of the Englisl language tremendously interesting. Yet, Sometimes, he is easy, the other times he is very very HARD! good teacher

Very cut and dry about what he expects of you. He's very fair and doesn't take crap from slackers.

If you try to slack in his class, he will nail you to the wall. If you're a pretty good paper-writer then you will do well in his class. One of his pet-peeves is that he hates it when you say "one" like as in "one could say..."

prof schuhart is amazing.take his scifi lit class,its a blast,and it TRANSFERS AS A LIT REQUIREMENT(its true!).he really knows his stuff.just beware he can't stand trekkies,its real lit to him.easy A if your smart and do your work.he's just a grown up stoner,can really get on your level.

By far the BEST TEACHER EVER. I had a blast in his class but only because he is so enthusiastic and dedicated to this subject. Art definitely makes you look at specific Lit works in a different way. Be warned: you cannot help but put your 2 cents in group discussions or on that addictive Blackboard.

The guy is a clown but in a good way. Always helping and thinking as a student to better comprehend them. He shows a great amount of respect and professionalism. I recommend him for the ones who have the monotonous and boring image of the college English professor.

He is a great teacher. One of those down to earth person who understands college students, sex, drugs and music very well. Dont expect to get an easy grade. But if you follow instructions, its is impossible to get anything below B in his classes. I took two semesters and got A in both. And i'm dumb as hell. Go figure.

Very good Teacher! Very enthusiastic with the subject. He will make you work, but it isn't hard. Easy quizzes and you gotta review your paper at the end. Very fair grades.

Very dedicated to his work, clear in his speaking and helpful if you are not meeting him for an appointment. Gets sick so usually you get a few days off. Goes into detail with the material so you learn a lot. Not too bad. I worked my butt of and got a 'B'. Good luck if you take him!

Professor Art is a very good teacher and very helpful. He loves what he does and makes you work hard. Lots of reading is involved but the quiz is multiple choices. You get to pick who you want to write about for research paper. Make sure you pick a good topic and do well on those then you are fine. This class is very interesting. Have fun.

Hard class, very smart guy though. He could talk to you about anything and has very detailed opinions. If you are dedicated to work hard, asking him for help, and prepared for lots of reading, you'll get an A. You'll definately walk out the class having learned something. Tough grader.

The easiest A to get, if you do the work. Follow his directions and thats it. He gives you so many extra credit points and gives extra credit for just meeting with him in his office. TAKE HIM!

Absolutely hilarious! But you have to read the stories and write good essays (tough but very fair grader). His class is so fun, you get to discuss everything and go on the most funny tangents (like the french love of beaver). Take him, but only if you want to LEARN something.

If you are busy and want an easy A, Don't take him! He will be your worse nightmare. If you really want to learn and willing to work hard. He is the best. If you do your work, and respect him, he will be very nice. unfriendly to international students? two honors students in my class are international students, and they said he is very helpful.

He is very easygoing and funny. I'm an international student but he treated me the same way he treat others. I love the proffessor. I recomend his class BUT YOU have to do your job. A very fair grader. You will absolutly have FUN and a good grade.

Schuhart is an excellent professor. Even though he is strict and demanding; however, he is fair about grading. The class is fairly challenging. He strictly takes attendance as well. Nevertheless, you're gonna learn a lot from him. Getting A in his class is not impossible. As long as you follow his instruction exactly, you will get an A.

Awesome teacher, just read the materials and learn MLA and he will be your best friend. Really funny, make sure to show up for the 3 little pigs story. I'll be taking his eng 256 class as well.

Great Professor. He is a tough grader, but he is very fair about that at the same time. After taking his class, you will learn a lot. He is also funny. Don't expect easy A in this class, but you can earn an A if you work for it. The key is: do exactly what he expects you to do.

He follows someone els difficult rules for proper English writing so it is wrong to blame him for asking us to follow rules that he did not write. I wouldn't say he's tough or demanding, but rather a challenging and thought provoking teacher. You'll be equiped with good writing skills when you're done with him. Don't care for any of this, get lost.

It was refreshing to learn from Professor Schuhart. I throughly enjoyed his class and mostly the in-class discussions. I think he is a fair grader and definitely challenges people to be a better student all around.

I think this dude is pretty tight. He makes you think and he challenges you to be a better student. theres nothing wrong with that, unless of course those two things aren't of interest to you. then i could see why you wouldn't like him.

he's such a great teacher, if you really do give it your best effort you will improve and he does take effort into account! portfolio conferences are super helpful if you really listen to what assistance he gives you. you'll be surprised how much your writing improves but if you like to slack he will give you none

Wacky libertarian English professor with a lot to talk about. If you're looking for an easy lit class steer clear. If you want to discuss the nature of man, likely societal changes, and robots, then I highly recommend his ENG 256 class. Easy A if you listen to instructions well (or if you're like me) just ask for feedback on****ty papers.

A clever, eccentric, articulate professor with a lot on his mind. While very outspoken about his morals and political ideologies, he does not discriminate against those who do not share them. He encourages classroom discussions about a wide variety of subjects, that often turn out to be comical in nature. Easy to recover from sub-par papers.

Dr. Schuhart was difficult. He makes students think, and work hard, but if the student actually tries, they will find themselves benefiting from the pressure he applies. I saw many comments on here claiming one particular ideology or other, and I'm surprised because it was pretty clear he was playing devils advocate often. Not for the lazy.

Students who want crave perspective, insight, and a legitimate liberal arts education should take him. Those who want easy A's, give minimal effort or are dumb in the first place, dont take him.

legit prof, demonstrates clearly, just make sure you stay on top of the game, if you party every night like i have, you can still pass the class, just get your stuff done! easy...

Great proffesor took his class for two semesters straight Eng 112 and Eng 254 Sci Fi. Before his class I was not very good in writing or had and interest in Science fiction but Dr. Art made the subjects clear and to the point. There was no BS everyone gotthe grade that they earned. He is not an easy A but you will learn alot as well as laugh .

apperantly all those who write he is a bad teacher they got a grade that they didnt want... WORK HARD= A SLACK= C, really intellegent and has alot of knowledge. change my prospective on writing.. would really recommand him if you are willing to learn and work..not an easy A, you have to earn it

I'm shocked Schuhart isn't getting rave reviews- I had him for 2 semesters and absolutely loved him. He's my favorite english professor- challenges students while having a cool personality. If you work at all, you have an A.

Great teacher! Thanks to him I am confident and believe in my work. He made me realize that I can do anything I want. I used to think I cannot write, but he loved my essays. Just do what he tells you, be on time, do not make stupid jokes, learn to spell his name right!,and you will be just fine!I wish everyone were like him. Professor S. you ROCK!

He is a good prof,but he's a difficult grader. He encourages you to go to the Writing Center to go over your paper. Also, you need to log onto BlackBoard daily to write comments on the material you're reading and quizzes are on BB,too. This class was alot of work, but I learned how to write a proper paper.

Very enthusiastic, energetic, funny. Hard grader on paper and other assignments. He requires us to do a lot of things online which makes it confusing sometimes. If you are pretty good writer, you'd be fine. Do your homework and you could probably get A tho.

Dr. A is the bet teacher I have ever had. He wants to make you a better student. If you take his class you will become a better student and better critcial thinker. He will challenge you at times. I had the hybrid class, we met in class every other Saturday and had to post on discussion board a few times a week. You are assigned hundreds of pages of reading which I read about 30 pages and managed to earn a high A. Understand the symbols and significance of the stories on sparknotes, listen to his lectures, and read his outlines. Easy A + EC

Dr. Schuhart is very knowledgeable about English. He keeps the class entertained and it's easy to stay attentive, along with that he's always willing to help students outside of the class room. He's honestly one of my favorite Professors of this year.

Dr. A is one of the most funny professors I have ever had. He knows his stuff. You write papers almost every two to three weeks, but he starts out really easy and then makes the papers longer as you go along. Do all the homework assigned! It helps more than you think! He is a tough grader but he gives you clear feedback. Come to class on time!!!!!!

He is very dedicated to teaching. He seemed to grade very generously for most assignments (and always gives helpful feedback), but I thought the weekly writings were graded more strictly. His lecture videos are helpful. I wouldn't say it's an easy A (mostly due to the workload), but an A is definitely achievable is you assert yourself.

My first day I was 10 minutes late, and he did call me out for it. SO BE ON TIME. He's very funny, some find his humor to be a bit rude but it'll keep you engaged throughout the whole class. He replies to emails quickly and is willing to help you improve your writing. There's about 3 big papers, you can retake his reading quizzes.

Dr. Schuhart is really nice and is clear! He has weekly papers every week and his quizzes are easy! just attend class, do what he asks and don't be annoying you will get an A or B also he gives 50 points extra credit for perfect attendance!

Dr. Schuhart expects you to earn your grade. His grading is a bit on the tough side, but the writing assignments themselves are fairly short - just make sure you answer the questions he asks. Help is there if you ask, just be sure to ask for it. I highly recommend him for any class and either online, or face-to-face - he's a great teacher!

First week of taking this class I definitely had to think twice about what I got myself into. But as the weeks went by I realized his teaching style was amazing, and you learn with practice instead of just a 1 hour lecture a week + notes. His class is hard to fall asleep in, he's really interesting and I recommend him 100%. You'll learn so much

Amazing inspirational professor. I took him in the summer for 6 weeks so there was a lot more reading and work involved. If you take him in the summer you really have to work for an A and be diligent. You cant be lazy but I really enjoyed his class, you can't get below like a B if you come to every class and to the readings.

first off this is not an easy A class, he wants u to learn. took his literature class so lots of reading. there was a paper due about every week somewhere around 3 pgs mostly about the reading assigned. gives a decent amount of work. He goes really deep into the lectures and makes you think. also if u dont miss a day of class u get extra credit

Professor Schuhart is very helpful and clear in his explanations. He is funny as well! The most important is the research paper assignment in the end of the class, which is pretty cool and interesting. I like his class a lot! Probably my best Professor at NOVA!
