Nice guy in lectures. not on tests. A lot of time is needed for test preparations. Tests include huge variety of topics. usually few hard questions on every test. the rest in the middle. very few are easy.

He's the one of the most brilliant professors I've ever met but exams are hard. do all the end of the chapter questions and challenge questions too, he'll throw in a few crazy questions. awesome lectures, always helps out if you go to his office, nice man

i took him for 113 and i loved his class so much im taking 114 with him also! he is so smart and is really funny. he tries so so hard to help us understand everything. his tests are very very difficult but study a lot and u'll actually do well!! take him!

Excellent professor. Hard working, awesome notes, and a great person. Tests are challenging, but if you are a serious student and work hard (like you are supposed to in college, duh!), then you'll do just fine.

The man is a genius and expects his students to bring out their best. He's one of the nicest men you'll ever meet and will always help out students. He makes himself available on blackboard 24/7. Cares about students. Exams are challenging.

A great and very fair prof. Keeps to his word, generous on the final grade.. If you know your stuff you'll do well and he drops a test. Very nice and polite man. Has absolutly no ego like most professors so will give A's w/o hesitation. 80=A-, 82+=A/A+

One of the best profs I've ever had. Cares about his students and their progress, always available and willing to help u, clear lectures, and one of the sweetest people u will ever meet. Tests and grading are more than fair. Awesome teacher!

he was one of the best professors ever- he was helpful during and after class. he always went over student questions and used the blackboard extensively- even answering questions late at night! his tests, are challenging, but not impossible if you study!

Outstanding professor...chem is not my favorite and he presents it in a very logical manner. Wonderful delivery and what will be on the exams is quite clear.

This guy is terrible. He keeps forgetting things regarding material in class,so the students always corecting him. He does not teach normally, and does not get you prepared for his awesomely hard exams.He asks the questions that are not in a book, the ones that he makes himself. Those are terrible.

his exams are hard ..that's true ! but at the end of the semester he gives a very good curve on the grades. I developed genuine interest in chemistry in his class , which was unlike any other proff. in QC.

I will definately suggest u taking him in case if u r just interested in wasting ur semester and not learning anything and getting a C or D for the course.Otherwise avoid him, the guy cannot teach at all, his weird british accent will drive u crazy and his insanely hard tests will kill ya. Very bad.

Great Professor. Tries his best to make the material understandable and can be very helpful. Test are kinda hard but it's chemistry you have to study on your own as well. I thought he was a good professor.

He is a great teacher and explains the material very well. He is always available for questions and never sends you away. He is very enthusiastic about the material. Take him instead of Engel, hes terrible, as i've taken them both.

He's an amazing teacher. the tests are difficult, but fun. He gives 3 tests, drops lowest if you are progressing. He's helpful in class and online. You must read the chapters b4 class to attain a good understanding of material.

total moron. do not take him. this guy will teach one thing in class then give another thing on the exam. no point to study either. you wont pass unless you have access to old exams which he does not give. He gives questions from chapters we didnt go over. steer clear folks

Sure there are teachers who give you their old exams and then repeat the same questions. Here's your choice. If you are taking chemistry just as a requirement then this is not the course for you to take in the first place. But if you want to take it to really learn something and persue further, then there's noone better that Dr. Baker to take.

He is so nice and cute. He is very approachable. If you do your texbook reading once before each lecture class and do the practice examples w/in the chapters and you get it,(not even the review questions), getting an A is a breeze. Pay attention to his lecture problems, similar ones always come out on test/quizzes.

he teaches in concise manner and with many general formulas, but on the test he asks real rxns. very deceiving and hard on the tests. asks questions he didnt covere in class and from chapters that were not tested. i would certainly avoid his class.

Easiest A I ever earned...take any chemistry class with this professor. He is clear, funny, and approachable. his exams are pretty easy.

Took 252 with him. He is a brilliant man that is at the same time very approachable and down to earth. He even make silly comments in class. He does not repeat his exams like Engel (whom i hate b/c he's got his head up his ***). But, Baker curves big and teaches well. He inspired me to major in chemistry!!

Dr. Baker kicks ass!! He's one of the best. He's inspiring. And he is one of the few who REALY cares about the students. I studied really hard for his classes and in neither case did I think I deserved to get an A, but he was very considerate and I got A in both of the classes. He explains the material until it's as clear as water for us.

I dont know what the kiss asses are babbling about.. this guy is an ASS. He can be nice to whom he wants to but when it all comes down to it, he is no better than a statue when listening to the pleas of a student. I find him cold and his tests are too much. I came to CUNY because I thought the teachers cared more the students. NOT HIM!

He SUCKS. He is totally unconcerned with the student as a person. I guess teaching after all these years has made him into a shell of a man. Study hard and do your best but dont expect this guy to give a hoot for you or being understanding toward helping you with your goals.

He is a horrible teacher. He doesnt teach anything in class because he is to buisy washing the board with his giant sponge. He'll put things on the test he never taught and that arent in the textbook and will expect you to figure it out on your own which is rediculous. Do not take him - find a different chem teacher!!

Although, he teaches good compare to Engel, I would still prefer to take Engel. Professor Baker doesn't believe in omitting unnessary things. Basically he wants us to learn each and everything of organic from definitions to reaction method, which is impossible.

His lecture is way too hard, most of the time u won’t understand what he’s talking about u have to study and Learn everything on ur own, his problems come from left field at times that u never saw in ur life therefore cant do, he does curve though and drops the lowest test grade

Doesnt teach chemistry like its supposed to be taught. He literally ONLY reads the powerpoint slides he has made. No teaching involved whatsoever. If you really want to learn the material, do not take him. I had to rely completely on the textbook to keep up.

Dr. Baker is a gem... it is very rare that you will find someone as intelligent, hard working and dedicated as him in your studies here at QC. Yes, everyone cheats but I guarantee if you ignore that and work your butt off, you will reap the benefits. Thank you Dr. Baker for turning me on to the wonderful world of Chemistry.

Baker just reads the powerpoints for Chem 113 he doesnt see if any of his students have a question, Its a hard class the only advantage is that he gives you his previous tests.

He is the best prof. ever, even better than Sangiorgi! He is extremely helpful, understanding, and very caring towards his students. He is very humble and down to earth. Chemistry is one of the hardest subjects ever, but he makes it fun and interesting. He will stand there and answer all your questions no matter how long it takes!

Awesome professor!! I got an A+ in Chem 113 and an A in 114 (and i literally didnt show up to a single lecture, clickers are worth nothing), has a huge curve, just study the book and you'll do fine. The finals are ACS exams though.

Great Professor, but you will have to study hard. This isnt an easy class. However, if you do the work and put in the effort you will do well. He is a sweet man and very approachable. He'll answer any of your questions. Study and you'll do great!

Professor Baker is a jewel. Above all, he wants students to learn and do well in this class; anybody who studies and follows along will see that his questions and exams are very fair. He has a British accent, but it doesn't impede his teaching. Very happy that I have the opportunity to learn from him. Thank you, Professor Baker!

Professor Baker is one of the most knowledgeable, helpful professors i have ever had the pleasure of taking in queens college. He is more than happy to help, even in The smallest of questions. he class is hard, but he is not out to fail you, but to challenge you. Study hard, ask questions and you'll do well.

very mediocre professor at best. the course is a lot of material and he is knowledgable. but makes it ultimately hard by not giving enough practice even if he thinks he does. also his book will lead you to learning unimportant stuff. also you will learn new things on his exams you havent seen before

Don't listen to the ratings about him that are bad. He is a very nice man, very helpful! He goes to the point where he'd extend homework due dates if we had too much to do! What other professor would do that? His tests are hard though however, so you really have to study! Gives a lot of extra credit on the test though!

This professor is the best!! He always gives review sessions before exams,he gives many bonus points on exams,he takes percentile on acs.On top of that he adjusts the class grading scale, its not that hard to do well in his class.He's a very nice professor, he's not out there to fail u, he actually wants his students to do well.So glad I took him!

He is ok. His exams are hard. study more than what textbook teaches you. Lecture is totally useless. make sure you are on top of everything. Chem 2 is hard subject anyway.

Tests have questions you have never seen or expected to be on there. Hard tests, but he gives great curves, and you can learn a lot by doing work by yourself. This class, like most pre-med sciences, requires discipline in studying. He's a nice guy to get to know in the department. His lectures are all over the place. You just gotta learn yourself.

I had Dr. Baker for Organic Chem in the late 70's. He was tough then but very helpful and you learned the subject matter. He was always available for office hours and his review sessions before finals were helpful His tests were tough becuase he made you think and did not penalize you since he curved. I went to grad school and got a Ph.D in Chem

prof Baker is one of the most caring prof I ever had. He's not out to get you and he wants you to do well. This is a hard class you have to come to every lecture. His exams are hard but if u study u should do well. he posts old exams on bb to practice. he's very approachable and will help you when he can. im really glad i took him for orgo.

Professor Baker is a fine educator. You don't need a textbook or take any notes in class, just pay attention when he gives lectures. The power point notes are available to you elsewhere don't waste time coping them. Just pay attention. He's down to earth and really helpful if you approach him. His English accent is awesome. Great professor.

i probably would have gotten a better grade if i actually tried, but that aside his tests are insane. the class is based off a massive curve. the material becomes convoluted when its not difficult at all. his tests are so out of nowhere its hard to really tell what he's trying to accomplish.
