This has to be the funniest class I've ever taken. All I do in this class is draw pictures of my professor including funny quotes. -is foreign and its hard to understand what he's saying. -tests suck A nice guy, but wouldn't recommend the class.
Talks in a way so that you cannot understand what he is saying. For a math class, it is the worst.
Yeh, guy is willing to help, but very hard to understand. TA's try hard too, but also hard to understand. If you take this class I recommend learning it on ur own from the book, becasue I never learned anything in class.
I thought Mr. Danielyan was a pretty good teacher. I enjoyed his class. I would reccommend him if you want a good calculus teacher.
He is not the best possible teacher, but his exams are very easy if you know how to do it.
oh god. the tests are extreeemely easy if you understand the material b/c it's straight foward and predictable...but i honestly could NOT understand 98% of whatever the heck he was saying. and he talks too fast.
It was difficult to understand him through his accent... and forget trying to talk to him one-on-one. Tests are homework questions.
Very nice guy. I think most use his accent as an excuse for their bad grades. Yough at first but you get used to it.Very direct with test questions. They are always homework problems, which are first solved in class. How easy can it get if you do the work
it is possible to get an A if you work your ass off so don't be scared by the comments it can be done. The guy is REALLY hard to understand and the tests are REALLY hard as well. (Our class average is a 50). If you can....take someone else.
The guy was ridiculous; the grading is terrible. Yes the tests are not that bad but if you make a stupid mistake you're toast. I just can't stand the guy's teaching and I LOVE calculus, I've already taken it in highschool.
precalc trig is precalc trig...if u like it, you'll do fine..teacher likes what he is doing and seems to teach well...little accent
if u go to class...it'll be easy. Very good teacher...and i had a really good TA
Danielyan is crazy hard to understand and the TAs don't make it any better. I would not recommend taking this class if you don't already have a good Calculus understanding. Find another teacher if Calculus is not your thing.
Hard class but explains it as well as possible. Go to class and you'll do well. Skip class and you will fail.
A nice man who puts a lot of effort into making sure people understand. Very helpful in his office hours and honestly wants you to pass. I didnt get an A but calculus isnt my thing. This class can be passed with some effort. His accent is not bad, people use it as an excuse for their bad grades.
Ok class. At times he seems to go around in circles, but he really wants you to pass. The reviews are just like the test so go to class and it'll be a lot easier. He takes role a lot, but I don't know how that effects the grade.
I think he is one of the best calculus teachers at USF..(if you've had others, you'll realize how good he is). His accent is not hard to understand at all, I got used to it. Fully explains everything and he has a true love for what he does and he is good at it.
I am really bad at math, but he is really good at going back and connecting everything that you've learned together. I hate math, but I got an A+ in his class, and honestly, I didn't study THAT hard. I thought he was awesome!
If you go to class and do the assigned homework you should have no problem doing well in this class. The reviews he gives before each test are very helpful. He's also EXTREMELY helpful answering questions outside of class, and he's very nice.
Very difficult to understand. Barely knows English. Long winded too. Don't recommend.
He didn't know how to explain the concepts of Calculus to us and he was had to understand.
A very nice guy, he really has good intentions for his student. The subject is not the easiest but he tries his best to make it understandable. He is extremely helpful after class and in his office hours. Overall a nice guy, he has a little accent but its not terrible, he is understandable.
if you aren't a math person, then he is not the guy.but he is funny and says ok alot. if you go and see him, and explain why you got something wrong.he will give you the points. try to blame your mistake on something else...like the book.it worked for me.also most people drop him,but i got an A
HARD TESTS, loved his grader, STUPID FINAL EXAM made me get a D when I have a B going into it... changed the format of the final exam... evil, evil man... but his okay does sound like my 2 yr old niece...
Doesn't speak English very well. I had a hard time in the class, but really it all depends on your TA. There was no point in going to the classes he taught becuase you couldn't understand him anyways. My TA sucked but I went to a different sections TA and I ended up with a B+ I think.
Danielyan was a kewl guy... he likes to show how everything was "proved" so he doesnt really get into the real problems.. tests come from problems he does on the board so ALWAYS copy whats on the board... you should have some knowledge of what the subject is about before getting into his class tho.. it helped that i took calculus in high school
Such a nice guy. Go to his office and he will allways help you out and rais your grade. Way better than Burgos. Exames come right from the hw, so just pay attention, also he uses the old excames sometime so look them over.
The class sucks.. He isnt too bad.. Sit in the front and actually pay attention and go to class, you can't blow it off. He'll help you but sometimes he grades hard, so show all of your work. Overall, horrible class, okay teacher.
He sucks!!! Can't understand him and he constantly messes up on problems while teaching!
His accent is tricky but I try not to be biased because of that. Class attendance is extrememly important for this class. Tests can be difficult but get a good study group going and you'll be okay. Stay the entire period bc he takes attendance for points sometimes. He's easy to get confused and he likes to show proofs a lot. As if we care!
I hated this class. He would start a problem on the board and then get distracted and go and do something else. He was easy to confuse and messed up all of the time when he was doing problems on the board. It took him a whole class period (an hour) to do one problem and couldnt even get it right. Dont take this class!!
I hate this class. He tries to be funny and laugh off all of his mistakes, but it gets old quickly, and you leave completely confused. Test questions are usually homework problems, when he reviews for the test find the section that question is from and do the odd problems, because chances are that something from there will be a test question.
Tough class, but he tells you everything you need to know. Accent understandable. Moves very quickly, which can be a bother. Do the work, show up, and you'll pass.
Nice person, horrible teacher. Math is my favorite and best subject and I am not doing that well in this class. If possible, take this class with a different teacher, I do not recommend this one.
He is funny but he is the worst teacher i've ever had. go to the help sessions and you will be a lil better
he tells you everything you need to know.
He is nice and funny but I don't like his teaching methods. In my opinion he spent too much time on proofs and not enough time on examples. The help sessions are usually very beneficial. Overall, though, I did not mind attending class and would recommend it as long as you are willing to work at it outside of classes as well.
Danielyan is a pretty good teacher if you've already taken calc and are good at it. I took calc in highschool and had the best teacher ever. Compared to my other teacher's tests Danielyan's test are soo easy that they are laughable!!! Take this class for an easy A. Plus he's soo hillarious!!
he is sooo nice! really funny too. not @ all hard compared to the calc class i took in high school. u can get an A in the class if u try. all test problems are straightforward & usually examples from hw & class. his proofs are def boring & pointless to students but hey he is a teacher. take him if u can. only go2 help session if u need extra help
he is really nice and willing to help. his tests are exactly like the homework problems so if u do the homework you shouldn't have a problem with the tests. his proofs in class are pointless though
I could barely understand him. He didn't teach us the material, he only worked out problems on the board. Same with TA. Easily the worst math professor. Do not take his class!
his classes are very boring. his test are kind of easy
He sucks, He is not clear. Maybe it is just my class but the average on every test is usually in the 50's or 60's. Maybe it is because it is a night class. If you are going to take calculus I recommend another teacher. I have already taken have of calc and had to drop bc of family reasons, I was doing good in that class and this guy confused me!
This guy should NOT be a teacher. He spends more time yelling at students to be quiet than he does explaining the material. I do not recommend him to anyone - if you have a choice between him and someone else, opt for the other professor!
bad teacher. unclear and doesn't go over all the sections enough and has ta's who can't grade what so ever. If i was you i wouldn't take this class with him.
Class isn't to bad. the questions on the test come straight from the homework problems. TA's are anal about grading; they take off points for not showing enough work etc. his test are not multiple choice and are only 5-10 questions each, so if you miss a question you are screwed. overall, i would take a different professor if possible
VERY hard teacher and not too helpful. The help sessions saved my butt. not sugested at all. can barely speak english and his final exam sucks!
Takes attendance sometimes, random quizzes, trys to squeeze as much work into a day as possible. Get a laugh out of his accent when he cracks math jokes. EXTREMELY willing to change a grade on a test if you show him u understood the question bcuz graders are anal about showing ALL your work. Did hardly any homework, passed with a C.
Very hard to understand. Accent is very heavy and the voice tones become annoying. The class is sorta boring especially if you have previously taken Calc AP. He seems to show the longest way possible to get the answer (so you know why it works) but then never goes over the shortcuts. Must-Go to Help session, they're the only things that save you.
if you know nothing about calc i wouldnt recommend him, but if you have taken it before, he is really easy, but of course boring. accent isnt THAT bad, even though people claim to not be able to understand him. he always takes attendance unless he forgets. always wears a yellow hat.
lets just say you better have atutor not bc it is hard but bc he does not teach it to the extent that he needs to. if you have taken calc before it is easy but if you havent good luck.
Good teacher. He explains concepts very throughly, and tries to keep the lectures interesting by using analogies. Some people complain about his accent, but you get used to it after the first week ("De-tall-ed" = detailed, "Log-eye-them" = logarithm) He is also very willing to help after class, and cares about the students. Nice guy.
I wouldn't recommend this class if you've never taken a calculus class before. You can barely understand his accent, so you basically have to teach yourself the material. Get another teacher if possible!
This teacher sucks. I took AP calc in high school and passed the exam with a 3(don't ask why i was in this class... i don't know) and i had a friend who got a 5 on the exam... we both had to drop the class because we were failing it. I couldn't ever understand a word he spoke because his accent was so thick.
Very hard to understand. Nice guy but not an easy class. TA's suck too and he will only answer like 3 questions durring class. Try to get a teacher that speaks pretty good english for calc.
He doesn't know what he's talking about. He messes up constantly and then gets confused when we call him out on it. I don't recommend taking a class with him if 1. you have trouble understanding heavy accents or 2. you're looking for a passing grade.
he sucks!!!! he says study the homework for the tests and then the problems on the test are completely different!!!!!
Although slightly difficult to understand,Dr. D was a very dedicated professor. He explained everything in detail and was open to suggestions on how to reword directions to make things more clear. Help sessions done by TAs were helpful. There is little opportunity to get lost in this class, because it meets daily. Stay on top of it, easy A.
He is hard to understand. He is also a bad teacher.
explained everything in detail. Very good prof
Overall, the class was pretty easy. Most of the questions on the test come from the HW. Just show up for lectures & help sessions (if needed) and the class shouldn't be that bad
I found it to be easy because I like math and had some prior knowledge. But if you're new to calculus - he is a little hard to understand but will answer questions you may have. As long as you go to the lectures for pop quizzes and go to your TA for help you should be fine. You are only required to go to your assigned TA for tests.
Very hard to understand, but overall a nice guy. I took AP Calc in HS and received an A, I received a D from this guy. He doesn't rely on the calculator, wants you to do everything by hand. Exam is focused on last chapters but does touch a little on the old stuff. All I have to say is Good Luck.
Nice guy, but hard class, my TA sucked so I went to another TAs class. His exams are 5-10 question that you have to solve and show your work, no MC. Make sure you have some understanding of Algebra and do HW and end of chapter tests in book. TA's have no office hrs so just go to Math Lab and get help. His final is very hard and covers everything.
Guys, dont take him. Very bad accent. Trust me, you will find him very difficult. He leaves everything upto his TA's but his TA's dont have enough time to answer everyone's question. Will end up failing this class.
The guy is nice, however the class, not so much. I did not do well at all in this class and I do not recommend him as a teacher. His lectures are pointless, you will learn it all in the help sessions. This is a hard class and is very hard to take it with a bad teacher. Take it at night/ summer. It is better.
Thankfully, I had just finished Calculus in highschool. The class wasn't very difficult and he had some interesting points, but i found some of the methods in highschool were easier to follow than his. The test are a couple of questions but they are almost direct if not the same from the homwork questions assigned. The final was mostly over the las
With basic knowledge of the course you really don't need to go to class in the beginning of the year. The couple of tests he gives through out the course are easy, and if you get a good TA you're lucky, some grade easy. The final is horrendously difficult, but any test other than that you can drop the lowest grade. He's also difficult to understand
As a person, he's a nice guy, but as a teacher, not that good. He's hard to understand at first, but you'll get used to it. I don't know if the TA that graded my section's paper is strict or what. The TA test gradings suck, depends who you get. Don't ever email him if you expect a quick reply. He spends too much time proving something.
Dr. Dandelion as we call him is a funny little man that really isn't too helpful when it comes to learning. He gives five POP QUIZZES throughout the semester so you have to go to some classes. Tests weren't too bad because I had Pre-Calc before his class you need to learn the material on your own. This is college no math professors are helpful!!!
Teacher is hard to understand because he pulls things from nowhere, has an accent & does everything the long way.. if i didnt have my TA than I probably would of flunked this class... he takes attendance but u can get your friend to sign you in but gives pop quizzes like 4 times throughout the semester..
Very nice professor, but isn't a good teacher. Grades hard and does not allow extra credit. Tough class
This class was very hard. I went to every class including help sessions except like twice, he takes attendance every day and has pop quizzes. Hes hard to understand at first, but you quickly get used to it. I think he was a good teacher, the material was just hard and he tried to cover too much too fast, and the tests are graded very tough.
LETS just say if you can take it without him you should do so.
I agre with everyone below me. He is very hard to understand. But FOR ME the work was easy.. I know might not wanna do this but DO THE OPTIONAL HOMEWORK... it helps... I didn't like the way he taught but my TA def. made up for it.
Teacher is very knowledgable, but due to language bariers, it makes him a terrible teacher. I would reccommend a different teacher for this subject because he is not very organized, and doesnt have much interest in his students
I think he is a good teacher. His accent is not that hard to understand, and with some previous calc knowledge mac2233 should not be that hard. The TA sessions really do help though.
He might be a little hard to understand, but from what I've heard he's not the worst. He's really good at explaining things, so if you have a question... ask him!! it helps i swear. The class is easy if you do the homework and go to the T.A. sessions.
If you don't HAVE to have him... DONT. He is nice but I have no idea what he says. I bet he is really smart, but he is very difficult to understand.
Class is boring. Attendence does not count! He admitted it halfway through the semester. Also, he wastes time explaining proofs, not going over problems. And my TA was horrible; other TAs actually helped their students ace test, while mine didn't. He also had no idea what to do, so go to another TA if yours is stupid. I had to drop it because of TA
He is a smart man but kind of hard to understand. If you are a self learner then it is fine but if you rely heavily on the professors and TAs then I recommend you choose another professor.
At first he is a really hard teacher his first two test are weed out test that are very difficult and try to scare you off. However, if you can score Bs or higher on the first two tests then the last two are easy. If you go to his office he will explain anything you need to know and he really does explain almost everything very well in class.
Class is very tricky but its a university calc class so I didnt expect it to be easy. You have to either be naturally smart at math or study alot to do well in this class. Go to the TA sessions, do the boring hw, and study for the tests and you will do decent
Hands down- best Calc I teacher ever. When I took Calc in high school, I was completely lost, but this guy made it all make sense. He explains everything you need to know, and the tests are based off the homework. A lot of people say they have problems with his accent, but people who aren't prejudiced don't even notice it.
I wouldn't take him. I didn't understand what he was saying the whole time. And when the TA does the same problems, they get completely different answers. Hes honestly the worst calc teacher. I didn't learn anything. DONT TAKE HIM!
This class is hard, if you don't pay VERY good attention the book doesn't help much. I am lucky to be getting the grade I have right now. The professor is nice and funny at times but hard to pay attention and understand but he is willing to help. All I can say is pay attention and no matter what go to class because he takes attendance and has pop quizzes
I dropped it because I was failing, took it again next semester and got a much better grade with Mr. Suen DO NTO TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS U absolutely love math. He also goes over his time by a few minutes and gets mad if you leave
WORST math teacher I have ever had hands down! I had to teach myself course all semester. Finds the hardest way to explain the most simple concepts. Avoid at all costs!
Hands down - the BEST calc teacher ever.
Very good prof
The class really isn't that bad. If you take notes and actually do your homework then you shouldn't have a problem.
Worst prof ever, hands down.
the concept of calc is difficult. The teacher teaches calc. and does it really good.
if you take this professor, get ready for a lot of book work. you will teach yourself the entire class. he is so sweet, and will try and help you, but it doesn't work so well. good luck.
teacher is horrible! can't understanda and makes problem so much more compliated than they needed to be. I had a wonderful T.A. however, that made the class much more enjoyable
OMG...i started off motivated...that was very short lived...
HARRRRDDD!!!! you will not survive unless you have a good TA. He works straight from the book so if you don't do your homework your out of luck. He also tends to make fun of students for not knowing certain things we should have "learned in algebra"....good luck
By Far the worst teacher EVER!! My sister and I are both really good at math, and we both struggled. He seems like a nice man, but you cannot understand him and he makes everything more difficult than it is. The tests are very unpredictable. Sometimes he uses the hardest problems from each section. "WHO CAN SAY" how you will do??
Awful teacher. Do not take him if you don't have to. Is hard to understand and tests are very hard. Your best bet to get a decent grade in the class is getting a great TA. If your willing to roll the dice with that good luck!
He is without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Make sure you know how to pray before you go into this class.. Horrible
Dr. Danielyan is a great professor who is very intelligent. Sometimes he has trouble relaying his message to the students because English was not his first language, but who cares because he is a great guy. If you pick up on math concepts easily, then take him and you should do fine. The test questions are directly from the homework. Great class!
The highest average test score for the class was a 61. He refused to curve test grades even when the class average was a 56%. He even told us he doubted it was that low when it was a computer generated average. Attendance is not supposed to be mandatory but some quiz grades were based off of it (quizzes are 10% of final grade). I passed by my T.A.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! This is your warning. You can't understand what he is trying to teach. It was more of a self learning experience for me. He is intelligent, He just doesn't know how to TEACH the material. DONT DO IT! You'll Regret it.
If you do HW, you will have no problem and will have a good grade at the end of the semester.
do not take this guy! he is extremely hard to understand with his accent. he cant ever remember what he taught the last class and constantly confused my class with other classes. he would get mad and tell us maybe we weren't taking notes. his grading methods are ridiculous and inconsistent. the extra credit he gave to help we hadn't learned yet
He's such a sweet man. He really knows what he's doing and tries so hard to make the students understand the ideas thuroughly. He randomly takes attendance and gives pop quizzes. There is a slight accent, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Just keep up with the topics, if you've already taken calc. You should be fine. TA sessions are helpful
This professor is illogical and pitiful. Even if you know the material, you'll STILL be wrong if you don't do the work EXACTLY the way he wants it done. Seriously, I got all answers on a test right but ended up with a 60. Whoever said he's sweet is unperceptive and a bad judge of character. This man takes true pleasure out of his students misery.
WHO LET HIM TEACH?!?!?!?!? as it is calc is so hard for some of us, and this man makes it worse. he is very helpful outside his class, go to his office with a problem and he'll help you out, but he wont do anything to make this class a little easier.
Very nice guy, but his class was ridiculously useless. I had an A the whole time until the final and my grade dropped to a C. He is not clear on what is going to be tested, and I only didn't fail because I had a great T.A. I had AP calc. in high school the year before and was still struggling. wouldn't recommend his class.
very hard to understand and gets frustrated if there is any talking during the class. seems to struggle with some problems that he puts on the board and students have to help him find the correct answers. tests are pretty difficult, only ten questions but u do get partcial credit. overall study hard and u can get a B-
Very sweet guy, he really wants to try and give his students a full understanding of the topic...However, most of the class goes by with him explaining a proof that maybe be useless or working on a single problem. He gives a ton of hw but doesnt collect it..if you do ALL of the hw..the tests are pretty easy...even tho they are only 10 questions.
Extremely bad teaching. He is a poor excuse of a teacher. He's a nice enough person, but as a teacher, he's horrendous. He doesn't explain the material well enough, & gets confused easily by even his own blabbering. going to his class is a total & utter waste. He's not helpful, is not a good educator in any way, shape, or form, & his tests r hard
Very strong accent. Hard exams. Final is worth 40%. He doesn't review before the exams. No curve. No bonus. Class average exam score is 50. If he says something isn't covered on the exam and it was done in class...it WILL be on the exam. DO get a solution manual, DO ask him for homework #s, do EVERY problem, attend EVERY class. You've been warned!
He is very nice and very smart, but he is not a good teacher. However, if you study yourself from the book and get help from tutors when you need, you should be able to get a good rade in the class.
Very nice professor! He does have an Armenian accent that is difficult to understand, but good luck finding a nicer man. If you attend class everyday, and take notes you will get used to it. The TA's are very helpful if you need any additional practice or tutoring. Passable if you do your HW, and ask questions if you are confused about the material
DO NOT TAKE He is a nice and somewhat funny man but a horrible teacher. He understand himself but cannot explain how to do the problems to you. Wish I had not taken him and just waited for a different teacher. Basically taught myself everything and TA was helpful. Some better than others. One TA grade rediculously hard and your TA may not grade you
Absolutely horrible teacher. Nice enough as a person, but as a teacher he is extremely bad. Is not clear, does not help/encourage his class, gets confused easily even over his own babbling, and is a most unclear communicator. He is not a good educator at all. He really brings USF way down. He has no interest other than prtnding how to lecture
He is a very unclear teacher that cannot explain his lessions at all. Pray you get a wonderful TA bc if not then you will struggle. Try to take another professor if possible.
He's really a horrible teacher. none of his sample problems are part of the exams. no extra credit or help. pray for a good ta or you will fail. good luck understanding that accent of his. i went to every class and still got a d.
He gets very frusterated when the class talks which causes him to lose his place. He is not the best teacher, but honestly it must be hard teach calc to a class that big. Go to his offic hours! he is very helpful and no one ever goes! Don't mess around, the first two tests are EASY and then they get really hard. His lectures make you fall asleep.
One of the worse professors on campus. You cannot understand one word he is saying. He has no concept of what he is trying to teach and just says a bunch of nonsense when you ask a question until you get so frustrated that you give up. Avoid him if you can, you will be miserable if you take this man.
His classes are a bit challenging, but he is a great professor. I love his classes
At this level you'll need to familiarize with these new concepts since they are the basis for what is to come. Well, don't expect to get them from this professor. He will not relate new concepts to existing knowledge, but he will dictate them out of the book and will make you do tons of non-sense exercises from the book. His tests are hard.
best professor you can get for cal I period
Dr. Danielyan is an awesome professor for Calc I. He explains problems exactly the way he expects them to be done, he answers any questions you may have, and he is helpful one-on-one. Once, he helped me for two hours outside of class and that session benefited me greatly throughout the remainder of the course.
Sucks, sucks, sucks! Does not make much sense, isn't really helpful or clear, and his test seem like he purposely pulled stuff out of his hat, that are not like the book exercises that he lies/claims will be similar to the test. He sucks!
This class was difficult but Prof Danielyan was very knowledgeable and helpful, both in and out of class. The test were fair and I learned a lot, would definitely take another of his classes.
Great professor approachable and understanding. very clear in his lectures, though his accent can sometimes be difficult to follow thus the low mark in clarity. I for one found him easy to follow, but i dont think most would. Quiz and test questions are almost all straight from the homework. IF YOU DO THE HOMEWORK, his tests are a breeze.
The tests/quizzes were basically straight from the recommended homework with few exceptions. Danielyan was very approachable and liked when students visited him in his office hours. Do EVERY homework problem and this class becomes extremely simple. If you don't do the homework, you will probably fail.
He seems to be a nice person, but all the algebra is in his head, and he expects everybody to be math experts before coming to the class. He explains the basics of the chapter and expects people to read and understand the rest of the material on their own, but then he gives homework and tests including such material.
He tries to help students by giving them really easy quizes (like solving one problem as homework) and bonus questions in the exams. Go to your help sessions and use the free math tutoring at the library and you'll be fine.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE avoid this teacher. I am a straight A student and I had to drop this class. I could not understand a THING he was saying and my TA wasnt any better. There was no motivation or incentive to go other than the random pop quizzes. Tests were hard help sessions sucked. I took it with another teacher n got a B.
He is a pretty good professor and easy to follow if you can get over his slight accent. He is extremely helpful if you have any questions and is very understanding. If you go to class and do the homework he assigns you should be able to pass the quizzes and exams.
HORRIBLE teacher! I can't believe anyone could ever write anything positive about his teaching skills for this course. I abhor him as a teacher and hope that nobody every ever has to suffer a class with him. What was USF thinking when they hired him? Too bad it brings USF's caliber way way down.
STAY AWAY! He's absoluetly not a good teacher, NOT!!!
Horrible, horrible teacher. Doesn't teach, has a heavy accent which makes him very hard to understand, doesn't give reviews for any exams at all, and makes things more complicated than they really are. I relied on the material I learned my junior year of high school to pass this class. Take a different professor.
Either you appreciate his passion and easy quizzes, tests, and homework and get over his accent and sub-par teaching ability or you tune out and despise him for him not being to speak perfect English. He is a nice, passionate (and old school, too) guy, and it is unfortunate that many students at this school do not take the time to appreciate that.
Ok, if you want to take this teacher,I'll tell you the truth. He has an accent. Apart from understanding calculus, you have to understand him. It seems like he makes everything more complicated. As long as you learn your derivatives and basics you'll be fairly okay. However,DO EVERY HW PROBLEM.Go to tutoring!!You should be fine. You have been warne
in all honesty: heavy accent, nice, knows his stuff well YET does not know how to teach whatsoever.no reviews. DO ABSOLUTELY ALL OF THE HOMEWORKS you will not pass otherwise. go to tutoring. basically stay away if you can.
He is very smart but his ego takes over when he goes off and spends the entire 50min lecture on one problem! and teaches something new in the 5-10min remaining. He has no clue how to teach and the textbook is as bad as he is. Calculus = hard; calculus + Danielyan = impossible!
I got an A+ by actually attending class and doing the problems he assigned, unlike most of the class. He gives easy problems for his quizzes and tests, too. And will answer ANY homework questions, so there is no reason to do poorly if you put in the time and effort required for this class. Hes a nice man and definitely cares for his students.
he has an accent and says "you see" way to much.but overall if you attend class and problems out of the book that he assigns then u will pass his course. his quizes are easy, straight out of the book as well as the tests. if you go to his office hours he will hint at specific things to study for on his exams
Although his accent takes a bit of getting used to, he knows what he is doing and what he is trying to teach. As long as you show up to class and do the homework out of the book, you will get a good grade. Quiz's are ridiculously easy and most of the tests are based off homework questions.
DON'T TAKE HIM. Calc II is a hard class and he makes it IMPOSSIBLE. ALL of our test averages were D's (including Final) and he WOULD NOT curve. He is stubborn and egotistic spending an HOUR on a problem just so he can prove to himself he can solve it without the book.. nothing nice to say about him, take someone who cares and CURVES
Hard to understand, and tends to ramble on without giving any kind of real examples. Makes a ton of mistakes when doing examples.
If you are a math major, this is one of those classes you are supposed to like. This guy makes you hate it. His exams are very hard. Study every day because it won't be enough. He is helpful if u ask... but it won't matter. Also, the exams he writes always have errors on them. I Do NOT recommend this guy. He should stick to college algebra.
I took him over the summer so he was more lenient but he made the exams and quizzes EXTREMELY EASY. His tests were not tricky at all and he chose mostly the simple problems from the homework to test us on. He has an accent but it was easy to understand. He really wants you to do well. I don't understand the bad reviews - I give him an A+++
Guaranteed, Danielyan is easier than all of the Engineering Calc II and the regular Calc II professors. He chooses relatively simple problems for the tests, you can often get the last semesters test if there is an additional peer review session to the class. study 4 days per week= A on every test
Horrible professor!!!! Very incomprehensible, have to go to Armenia just to understand him. Exams are hard and he had to curve because so many kids failed. Do NOT take him for your grade's sake!
He is a horrible teacher, he made concepts I understood impossible, throws random problems on the test and is hard to understand. He never gives examples in class other than the ones already in the book and he can spend a whole period on two problems. 80% of the class failed the last test and he didn't curve it. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT TO PASS!!
Worst professor I've ever had at USF. Could barely speak english, gave no review whatsoever for exams. 15% of the grade was supposed to be biweekly quizzes and we ended up having 2 the entire semester. By far the worst professor I've ever had, I am a math major who has always loved mathematics but everytime I went to his class I loved it less.
By far the most helpful teacher I have ever had. I bombed the first test, but with his willingness to drop low quiz grades, as well as a final that replaces the lowest test grade, I was able to pass. Thick accent, but would take again.
Dr. D has an accent but he's not hard to understand. He really knows math. If you ask a question, he can answer it. He does not give test reviews. Since his test questions come from the homework, you should be fine if you actually DO THE HOMEWORK (evens and odds). It's differential equations; expect to put in at least a little effort.
This professor has an accent but is by no means impossible to understand. His examples and mathematical proofs are a different story however. It seems he takes the most convoluted path tp any proof or exmple and only succeeds in confusing everone. It also seems as though he wings every lecture. Just do the assigned homework and go to a tutor.
I basically had to teach myself all of calc 3. He is a nice man and really try's but he gets carried away and confuses most of the class. His test are all problems from the book so if you understand those you'll definitely pass. Quiz problems are out of the book as well. He assigns homework but does not grade it. I would recommend doing it still!
To date, this is the most compassionate professor I have ever had. He uses the textbook; no online junk, and gives quizzes on the hw. He's old school. He is quite confusing during instruction (what USF STEM prof. isn't?). Study his examples, and book problems. I still had a tough time on tests. That said, give it your all, show up, you'll be fine.
he is a great professor
I took this professor in the summer and this class only consists of a couple quizzes and 3 exams which are basically your entire grade. This professor is very intelligent but is not very good at properly voicing his knowledge. He makes the class twice as hard and youll find yourself always studying. If you want to get higher than a B, dont take.
Professor Danielyan is a very nice person but not a great teacher. He spend far too much time re-stating very trivial things that the entire class can see hes written on the board. He spends most of not all of class time going over only a few problems and the tests are far harder than anything in the class. Youre graded only on tests and quizzes.
I dont know why he has such bad ratings on here. Sometimes he is hard to understand but he is a great teacher. Diff. eq. is a hard subject for most people, but this professor made it pretty easy. Tests were straightforward, text book problems, althought the final was kind of difficult. Take home quizzes and tons of extra credit were given.
Homework is assigned everyday but not collected for a grade; however, most quiz and test questions were the EXACT SAME as the homework questions. Attendance is only important bc of pop quizzes (quizzes are 10% of the grade while tests are the other 90%). Prof. is absolutely not tech-savvy and wasted a lot of time trying to make students participate
He is the most incredible Professor I have ever seen. Always taking care of students and welcoming the discussion and any questions. Very royal to the text books. Responsible, accountable and well prepared, always ready to help students. He loves teaching, most qualified math Professor in USF. I would take his class again.
Terrible Professor He teaches like he's in 1990 and does'nt know how to use Canvas. No HW grades which makes the test weigh everything. The whole class thinks he is a joke as his notes are sloopy and seems to just wing in every day of class. Not saying he dosnt know how to do math, im saying he dosnt know how to teach math. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
The professor wore a mask but spoke very quietly I understand wanting to wear a mask but you have to realize it muffles your voice as well. Also he had a very hard to understand accent so all those factors combined I never knew what he was saying even though I was in the front row. If you don't focus in the class you're going to fail so good luck.
There is a lot of homework assigned, but it is not part of your grade. However, you should do them because he takes problems (evens and odds) from the textbook for tests and quizzes. The quizzes are pop quizzes, so you should attend every lecture. He may give extra credit and the final test grade replaces the first test grade only if it is higher.
Everyone said his test was hard or he didn't gave a practice exam, I can feel that you are just lazy because you didn't finished his hw that he gave it. His test is easy because all the questions that pop up is exactly the same things on the text book. I would love to retake his class again but he not teaching cal 3 in this spring semester.
Homework is not graded in this class, but I highly recommend that you do it as he takes quiz/exam questions directly from the textbook. He does give pop quizzes every once in a while but they are easy as long as you do the homework. He is also very nice and understanding and willing to compromise as long as you talk to him.
Dr. Danielyan is passionate about the subject matter and brings good energy. The format of the class is simple, with a heavy emphasis on exams. Exams are not too hard. Homework is assigned, but is not graded. The exams are similar to the homework. He is caring and actually asked me why I was not attending class. Make sure you free up time for calc.
1. do the homework- it's not for a grade but it will be on tests word-for-word 2. go to his lectures- he has occasional pop quizzes 3. put a lot of work into this class. his lectures can be hard to understand- so you may have to rely on online resources. 4. please do your best! He really does care about his students and he's super easy to talk to
Offers 5 quizzes all are easy so long as you show up to class. Tests are straight from the homework but can be tricky. Very friendly professor.
good teacher, great person.
Professor Danielyan's class is challenging but manageable. He focuses on textbook problems, so doing the homework is key. Using unstuck study with ChatGPT helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a fair professor who cares about student success.
This dude is amazing. Don't be scared by any other reviews he is truly a great professor and I would recommend him to anybody taking diffeq. I would recommend doing all the homework he assigns (although it isn't graded) because he uses those problems on the quizzes and tests.
This professor is so nice and tries to engage with his students when teaching. His tests and quizzes are similar to the hw, so make sure to do even if he doesn't grade it.
I had Dr. Danielyan for Differential Equations (Fall 2024). Lectures don't focus on theory but rather solving homework problems. Homework is not mandatory. Quizzes are easy if homework is consistently done outside of class. Tests are similar to the homework. Overall a kind and caring professor.
Such an amazing professor, taught the subject very well. His lectures are half teaching and half going over homework problems which is helpful. He wants everyone to do well and is willing to listen to the class if something is too difficult and will take it off the test before going over it again.
This guy is AWESOME!! He is very accommodating (within reason). Sometimes He'll tell us exact problems that'll be on the test. What's more, every question that shows up on exams is one of the assigned homework problems. If we say a problem is too difficult he won't put it on the exam. He curves tests with averages in the 60s. He's lowkey inspiring.
