Frampton is a good teacher who really knows his stuff. He will always answer questions and attempt to explain things in more detail if needed. He is a bit dry and uninteresting though. All his powerpoints are online and most of the material can be found in the book and notes. He also gives easy pop quizes but his tests are fairly hard.
Lets just say I could have done better in bio with a different professor. I struggled in there because the tests were so hard and all of the quizzes were pop quizzes. He's very intelligent but doesnt explain well. The lab grade is what saved my butt.
EXTREMELY difficult class. Not that the material is that hard there is just a TON of information... 5 chapters per test for 4 tests... Very hard my lab grade saved me
Dr. Frampton is an excellent professor. Although he teaches STRAIGHT from the book, he is always willing to clarify. Lots of material, but not a hard class.
If you have a choice between 201 professors, choose Dr. Frampton! If you come to class regularly and read the text (because he teaches straight from it) you are guaranteed to do well. He drops your lowest test grade and replaces it with your best five pop quizzes combined. He tells you when pop quizzes are coming, and is readily available for help.
You learn a lot in his class if you decide prior to attending that you are going to pay attention and read occasionally. His first test is easy, but after that they get harder. The final is not cummalitive. It's a pretty hard class if you're not good at science. Try to sit in the front if you don't want to fall asleep.
AWESOME teacher. His lectures are extremely clear. He provides powerpoints online for each lecture. He has a review day before each lecture. He answers any questions in and out of class. If you email him about anything, he is more than willing to help.
Teaches from powerpoints that are online, so if you miss a class no big deal. He explains things a lot better than the powerpoints do, so go to class. 5 pop quizzes that replace lowest test and if you go to class you should do well on those.
Class is pretty boring, not because of frampton, but because of the am bio crap you have heard since middle school. He is definitely the easiest professor for 201 though.
He tells you exactly what to study for and he gives you pop quizzes throughout the semester that can replace an exam score at the end. He is a great teacher!
Good teacher, always willing to help, but you have to come to him if you want help. If you come to his office hours, and take good notes, he's a very helpful teacher and nice guy. He talks a mile a minute, so review the powerpoints he posts online to keep up. Come to class everyday, he doesn't take attendance but pop quizzes are easy grades!
Make sure you review your notes and understand concepts. Overall, an excellent instructor.
Super easy class if you love bio. He puts all of his powerpoints online and pretty much just reviews them in class so if you have to miss a class it's not a big deal. Test's aren't too difficult. Really helpful out of class too if you need help!
Good professor. pretty easy basic bio class. I opened my book like twice his powerpoints cover everything.
He is really helpful but reads from his slides.
Dr. Frampton was deff one of the best Bio teachers we have. He understood I needed an A, I made sure I worked hard, attended his hours, and asked for help. He talks off slides and gave quizzes that were based on attendance and tests are hard so STUDY! the lowest will be dropped w/ hw assignment. go to class, pay attention and you'll get an A!
Dr Frampton is a great teacher. He would rather the student do well in his class than struggle. He is very educated in bio and you can tell he enjoys teaching it. I enjoyed sitting in his class, but went to almost every SI session to help me receive an A.
He's pretty good but make sure you read the textbook as it will help a lot. His tests aren't too hard if you study. When he lectures he is quite boring.
He is passionate about the subject and it shows. I really struggled with this class and somehow managed a C. Do well in the lab and show up every day and you can manage to pass. He's really fast and its a TON of info to digest so you have to stay on it.
Dr. Frampton is a great teacher and its obvious he loves to teach Biology. The class is kinda hard, but if you study, read the text, and go to SI it should be an easy A. I definitely recommend him as a professor.
Dr. Frampton is great and the class should be fairly easy if you somewhat try (going to class and reviewing the PowerPoints and maybe SI sessions if you really do not understand it) however the lab is what really makes you or breaks you. My TA did what Dr. Frampton didn't, taught biology is extremely hard and technical terms and graded way harshly.
This professor made his lectures really interesting. I had alittle trouble on his exams but he dropped the lowest one which helped alot.
Dr. Frampton is awesome. I am a biology major and I did well in everything except some slip up's on his exam. They're straight forward, but can be difficult. He is a virology genius and I can't wait to take his virology class. I also have him in a Honors class this semester and he so likable and down to earth. Highly recommend!!
I like Frampton a lot. He teaches using his powerpoints, and the powerpoints are clear cut, easy to understand, and full of visuals. This isn't an easy class, but Frampton is more than willing to help and isn't out to confuse you at all. Great teacher.
Dr. Frampton explains things very well in class. He expects you to read the textbook, and if you do it will help you in class. Also, he gives quizzes periodically throughout the semester, so if you like to skip all the lectures, you'll miss the quizzes and that's a part of your grade. He'll readily answer questions in class or after class.
He gives 5 pop quizzes throughout the semester along with like 3 tests. Lectures are kinda boring but they do help. He puts the power points online so you can get what you miss in class. Great class. Just a little boring.
He is very nice. He just teaches a tough subject. It is in your best interest to attend class because sometimes we get extra credit assignments to boost our grade, also you never know when there will be a pop quiz. He likes to help you out so it is good to schedule time with him outside of class to review tests and gain better understanding.
Good professor, just a hard class. If you skip, you will not do well. Very difficult lectures because he assumes you already know the material and the lectures are boring. The labs are really good though!
Great option for directed independent study. He is very approachable and there are many options in his lab. There are a lot of students working in the lab and they are all very helpful.
He gives out 6 pop quizzes. Some you just have to write down your name and student ID. He doesn't take role other than those 2 or 3 check in quizzes. All his lectures are online so you really only have to go to the classes on exam days or random days and pray there aren't pop quizzes when you miss the day.
The syllabus says that attendance is mandatory, but you don't have to sign in. It is a really good idea to show up every time though because you miss a lot of information and might miss a pop quiz if you don't show up. He is obviously really passionate about biology. The tests are a little difficult but it might just be because it's hard to know!
Frampton's bio 201 tests aren't hard if you know the material. The questions aren't difficult and if you just study the powerpoints and know them well, you're fine. Study a lot, go to SI, and get to class and you'll be fine. It's not hard work it's just a lot of effort to get an A. Frampton's a good guy and wants you to pass.
Great HON 110 professor. Really caring about his students and the topic of the class. Easy going and usually let us out of class early. Easy A. Not a lot of outside work
his tests are not going to be easy to take they are worded different then any notes you will receive. Don't expect him to be lenient on your grades either he wont give an extra point whether it means you pass or not. so i do not recommend this teacher because of the tests and the way he wont help out his students.
Extremely easy freshman seminar. Had significantly less work than all the other seminars and we got out early frequently. We did a few big projects but overall it was a very low intensity class. Guest speakers brought in were very interesting, and the class as a whole was fun.
Tests are easier than tests I took in high school level science courses, very straight forward. Attendance is not mandatory, but beware of pop quizzes. Lab is tough, really prepare for quizzes. SCIENCE MAJORS, this is an easy class and in my opinion is not helpful in preparation for higher level courses. Overall, very nice prof. and easy class :)
Basically Frampton will just recite what is off of his powerpoints in his lectures, and they can get very, very boring. Also, there was information on the tests that he did not include in his lectures at all. Tests were pretty tricky. He would also give out pop quizzes on the days that he knew students wouldn't show up (like fridays).
Grades consist of midterm exams and pop quizzes (sometimes pop quizzes on attendance). Not a lot of wiggle room to come back from a poor grade on one midterm. Talks very fast but provides the notes online to follow. Make sure to copy what he says as well as what is given on the powerpoint. Go to the SI sessions early on.
Pretty much completely lecture-based, grades come from a few tests and pop quizzes are for extra credit. Hes difficult, but seems like he does care about his students being successful. Kind of foams at the mouth.
Great professor, attend class to receive extra credit from pop quizzes
Frampton is honestly a really good guy and is 100% fair. His classes are all lecture and he posts all of his powerpoints online at the beginning of the semester. (and I mean all of them.. even the final review) Tests are difficult, but not so much if you study. There are 5 pop quizzes that you can use (combined) to replace a test grade.
Frampton's class is easy if you pay attention, study and go to the SI sessions. He is very transparent on what he is going to test you on and makes concepts simple. He doesn't expect you to know every minute detail in biology. Provides pop quizzes to help with your grade. Only gives 3 tests 1 final. Book isn't needed, content on the test is fromppt
Test were super hard, ESPECIALLY THE FINAL. But if you are good at biology then you got it. If you arent good at Biology going to class would help lol and seeing him during office hours. is a great professor, lecture heavy, and has pop quizzes which can replace a low grade. but if you dont go to class like me, RIP.
Frampton is a great lecturer. He really cares about you succeeding and is fair when making tests. If you show up to class, take notes, and study you will do fine in the class.
Frampton is a great professor. Extremely straightforward both in class and on exams. He made biology interesting and relatively fun. Definitely recommend.
I've always loved and admired Dr. Frampton. His Bio 495 class - Biomedical Breakthroughs in the 21st Century - is phenomenal. Definitely take it if you're interested in the healthcare field. Two presentations - one is 10 mins, the second is 20 mins and that's it. I really loved this class.
Your grade is based off four exams. There are five pop quizzes worth 20 points each. I feel it's important to go to class so you can gather some extra info/explanations that is not on the powerpoints. He is clear about what will be on the exam. Overall would take class again
Tests were extremely difficult, he would pick the smallest detail and expect regurgitation. I went to him for help and sent emails to no avail. He did not respond to me and sadly I do not have a Ph.D. but it seemed like I was expected to. Also if you want to do well you are expected to have taken immunology and epidemology. Don't.
Great Prof. Great class, great material! If you study like you're supposed to, being a 400 level course, then an A is easily obtainable. Tests really aren't hard, and he mentions a few times "this will be on the exam." Pop quizzes are for extra credit ONLY. If you get a D+ in the class, then you're the problem.
Dr. Frampton is incredibly knowledgeable in Biology and is always willing to help you. I was sick one day for a pop quiz, and when I emailed him that morning, he agreed to let me make it up after the next class. He is lecture heavy, but he is a great lecturer, so don't let that stray you away. He is never condescending and loves explaining topics.
If you are taking 201 make sure you take it with Framption! He is very lecture heavy but he is always very clear on the material. He is always available during office hours if you need to review your tests or just need help in general. He is constantly giving out extra credit so try not to skip class and atend as many SI sessions as you can!
Good professor but you need to go to class
Dr. Frampton was the best biology professor! His classes were all lectures but everything on the tests came from the powerpoint he goes over in class (and posts online) , so if you study those you will do fine! He was super accommodating when it came to issues caused the hurricane this semester which was super helpful.
If you go to class you should be fine. Quizzes and tests are super straight forward. Just study the lecture slides and go to SI sessions. Loved this class and professor
Dr. Frampton is a great professor. Really understanding, but with that being said sometimes doesn't answer emails. You might have to email him a couple times to get a reply. The in class random quizzes are easy and if sometimes he'll just give everyone 20/20. There are five so if you are there for all of them they replace your lowest test grade.
Great guy, very willing to answer questions and help clarify, but lectures the entire class and goes very quickly. Tests are almost never like the study guides provided, and can be very confusing. But hard work and studying will get you a decent grade. Also attend the SI sessions they teach you so much.
Framptons class is your typical, difficult Biology 201 class. You go to class, he lectures you on the powerpoint slides, and then you leave. There are three tests and a final exam, 5 pop-quizzes and 10 super easy assignments that you complete via the online textbook. The class was nothing special at all, but if you study an A is possible.
Dr. Frampton was a great bio professor. There are only 3 exams and 1 final, but he assigns easy online homework assignments and gives out pop quizzes that can replace your lowest score on a test. He explains the material very well in his lectures. It is really easy to get an A in this class if you study a lot, go to class, and attend SI sessions.
Dr. Frampton was a good professor. His classes are purely lecture-based. This class is hard, but if you put in the time to study, you will get an A. All the material he uses on the exams comes from the powerpoint which he posts on canvas for us to access. He is fair and gives you all of the material you need to succeed in the class.
Dr Frampton was not my favorite but his class was alright. I had to take notes during class or I would fall asleep. There are 5 pop quizzes that he usual warns you about and if you do well on them the total points you earn on them will replace your lowest test grade. Test are entirely based on lectures no need to read the book.
Frampton was very hard on my class this past semester. His test questions were just sometimes impossible. I will say going to his office hours and making sure you go to class is your best shot. Those pop quizzes are crucial to help your grade! Also the SI wasn't all that great but I would recommend going to get review for the pop quizzes.
He is a cool and funny man, just hard to reach outside of the classroom. Attendance is somewhere between mandatory and not mandatory where he would grade on participation, but I rarely rose my hand and missed class a few times, but I got an A anyway (I was in one of his Honors 110 seminars). Hope this helps! Good luck with finding classes!
Professor Frampton was very difficult for an entry-level BIO. Our only grades were pop-quizzes and exams. He is not very understanding and will give an exam the day after a break with no review. His class is possible to pass, but you will have to work pretty hard. Take notes on his lectures BEFORE class because he speeds through slides in class.
Took it online during COVID. He's not the greatest at communicating with students. There are four overall exams and a final. The class in general (despite professor) has a lot of material. Professor wasn't terrible, but the class is very difficult. I spent at least half of each week working to get the grade I did. Just stay ahead and ask for help.
I took this class online during COVID-19 and I wouldn't recommend him if his class is online again. Frampton doesn't answer his emails and also does not really teach. He uploads PowerPoints and you have to teach yourself. The material is already so difficult so this just makes it even harder. There's four mid exams and then one final exam.
This course was completely online due to COVID and I have never personally met Dr. Frampton, just listened to his pre-recorded lectures. The course was test heavy with only a few assignments as well as labs. He was decently responsive via email, and overall the course was very moderate
This class was pretty difficult online. The only grades in the lecture portion of the class were tests. I don't feel like I learned much from this class, but if you are willing to work hard on your own, it isn't impossible to get an A. He is also very hard to get in touch with. I wouldn't take this class again if it was online.
I'm speaking on behalf on several classes that I've taken from Dr. Frampton. He's smart and a nice guy, but he's not particularly good at communicating with his students over email. Classes are moderately difficult, but studying helps alleviate some of it. He's a good advisor and can provide some guidance if you're going into the biomedical field.
8ams with Frampton would not be advised. While I was able to get up every morning, I didnt want to because of his class. Doesnt really teach bio, just reads off the slides. He speeds through the slides so I would take notes before class and in class just listen to what hes saying. You have to work very hard in his class to pass.
Dr. Frampton mainly just reads off of slides every day rather than really teaching about topics. His first exam was nearly impossible as it included very specific details that he maybe - if ever, mentioned once in class. It is a very difficult class; he doesn't teach so you MUST teach yourself. LOTS of material to cover. Nice guy - bad professor.
This is a very hard class. Tests are nothing like quizzes or what we talk about in class. SI is no help. If you dont to the class and study the material you will not pass. You have to teach yourself. The professor is a very nice guy and is helpful in class, office hours help a lot but hard to reach outside of class. You have to try for grade.
His notes are very easy to understand, they are very simple and he highlights all the important concepts. He posts all the power points on canvas, but I would recommend going to the lecture bc he does an amazing job going through the slides. Flash cards are your best ally to pass this class.
Attendance is not required but I definitely think it helps to attend class and go to SI. Hes super straight forward. He gives pop quizzes but its easy to predict when hes about to give them (youll just know)
Tests are fair; I noticed he could've made them significantly more difficult. Lots of extra credit. Super friendly and always willing to help if you need it. If you're prepared to work and know how to study biology then this will be one of the easier classes for you.
Frampton was a good professor for Bio201. The class itself is rly hard ofc but frampton was helpful. there are 10 homework assignments throughout the semester which all are online. other than that the tests are the only grade. there are 3 exams and then the final. He gives 5 pop quizzes which are technically extra credit and can replace an exam
Frampton is a nice teacher. He does straight powerpoints. His exams are 50 questions and are worded very difficult and different from the PowerPoint. I would recommend reading the textbook it is very helpful. Go to SI it can be helpful sometimes. Class is not mandatory but trust me if you don't go you probably won't do good.
To get a good grade in this class you need to go. Attendance is optional, but you become confused quickly and could miss a pop quiz if you don't go. The five pop quizzes could replace your lowest test score (pop quizzes aren't easy). He doesn't curve the exams when the class average is a 60 and I feel he doesn't care about his students.
Dr. Frampton is a good person and you can tell he is very knowledgeable and respected in his department. His classes are extremely lecture-heavy and he posts all lectures on Canvas. One thing to note is that you should still read the textbook on top of the lecture materials because he gives exams on all of the material you are expected to learn.
The tests are tough, but you will get the hang of it by the exam. If you go to class and actually pay attention to the lectures, you'll do fine. The power points aren't specific so listening to him explain them helps a lot. The pop quizzes are extra credit and saved my grade. I don't study a lot and got a B so if you study you should do well.
I enjoyed this class a lot. It is a lecture, so you don't HAVE to go, but going really helps. He explains the material very well. He also gives 5 pop quizzes that get rid of your lowest exam grade, which is really nice and helped me a lot. He is always available to help and wants students to do well in his class. Overall, a really good teacher!
Very test heavy. Told me to withdraw, not a good professor, only take if you are willing to fail.
I enjoyed taking BIO 201 with Professor Frampton. He explained each lecture thoroughly and truly cared for his students. My advice for this class would be to take notes before coming to class, DONT skip class, and attend SI sessions as it will come in hand when preparing for exams and pop quizzes.
Dr. Frampton is a very good scientist, he is not a good teacher. You can ask questions but because it comes so easy to him, he does not know how to explain the topic. It is a very difficult class to get an A in, as only 13 students of around 200 actually made an A. The majority of your grade relies on you being able to test well and succeed in lab
Frampton is a really good teacher and gives you many chances to do good and get extra credit, the class itself is really hard but as is any BIO class. With that being said Frampton is your best choice, he's really nice and is very smart. His lectures are easy to understand too.
It is your stereotypical college class, where you come to listen to lectures and then have a total of 4 tests. 3 midterms, 1 final. As long as you take notes and go to SI you will do well in the class. He gives random pop quizzes that only help your grade and is a pretty cool professor overall.
He only taught off of his PowerPoint. Literally stood at the front of the class and basically read off of the slides. There was zero extra credit, and pop quizzes. 3 exams and then the final. The exams are very hard because the power points have so much information and he doesn't tell you what specific things will be on the exam. Do not take.
Dr. Frampton really understands the material and has laid out his class to teach it well. As a non-biology major I found the material difficult to digest, but even if you struggle with the exams you can still do well in the class if you participate in Lab. Tests are written so he knows you understand concept and don't just memorize terms.
Frampton wants you to fail, he doesn't care about his students. Your grade basically depends on your test grades, which are stupid hard.
AWFUL professor. Hard to get in touch with. Does NOT care about students or students success at ALL. Reads straight off powerpoints every lecture. Assumes since he understands the information and has been teaching it for years that it’s easy for the students learning it for the first time. Terrible at explaining concepts.Take anyone else but him
Dr. Frampton is an excellent professor who made the biology learning experience fun and enjoyable. You'll probably do well if you attend every class and pay attention. The test material is straightforward and based on class lectures and ppt slides. There are pop quizzes that can replace an exam score. Put in the effort, and you'll be fine!
Dr. Framptons lectures are so difficult to follow, he foams at the mouth when he talks which is disgusting. The pop quizzes dont bring down your grade which is nice, but the exams are extremely difficult. I used to attend SI session, but now I dont because I dont think that they help at all.
Extremely lecture heavy and your grade will be based off of exams....that is literally it. So if you are a poor test taker, good luck:)
Worst class I've ever taken. Be prepared to struggle if you're not a good test taker. He does not explain the material well, he speaks to the class like we already know what he's talking about. SI lecture doesn't really help.
Nope. No tests are on his lectures, you can also try to read all you want and you will still not do well in his class. There is no recorded lectures of extra credit. He provides no assistance and also gives pop quizzes. Horrible teacher, you can study your ass off and still receive a 50. Entire class is failing.
Frampton simply stands in front of his lectures and reads his PowerPoint that barley correlates to our exams. Then, somehow he expects students to do well on his 4 exams that will determine your entire grade for BIO201. It is extremely obvious that Frampton knowledgeable. However, it is even more obvious he does not care about his class/students.
Great guy and is nice, but that doesn't make someone a good teacher. Exams are nothing like lectures and there is no curve. Your grade in this class rests only on your exam grades basically, that being said, if you score low on the exams (which you will b/c the exams are nothing like what he teaches you) you are done for. Do not take this class.
Frampton is very lecture heavy and teaches strictly off slides and goes off of a very broad point system for grades that are very test score dependent.
He gives 4 exams, 4 pop quizzes, 1 cumulative final, and homework modules. The lowest exam grade gets dropped and replaced with the sum of your pop quiz scores. He doesn't give extra credit and doesn't go out of his way to help. He teaches off slides posted on Canvas, and you can predict when the quizzes will be so attendance isn't mandatory.
Dr. Frampton is a smart man, however he is not a good teacher. He stands in front of the class and reads directly off the powerpoint the entire time, and the exams are extremely difficult and do not correspond with the material what so ever. DO NOT TAKE if you care about your GPA.
no curve on tests. long lectures but tests are extremely difficult. he is knowledgable but assumes we know everything. good luck:)
the only good thing about his class was the fact that attendance was not required. he just reads over the PowerPoints he posted on canvas so I didn't learn anything. he also doesn't post grades so you legit don't know if you're failing until u get an email about it.
He lectures straight off of the slides, then grades solely on exams, which are nowhere near the level of content learned in class. You are better off teaching yourself, I stopped going to lectures after the first week.
This class is exam heavy and the exams are extremely difficult because of the question formatting. It has very little to do with the lecture slides we go over in class, and he just reads off the slides. The homework assigned are irrelevant and there are 5 pop quizzes. Review sessions are just going over the slides again. Choose a different course.
He gives four exams and five pop quizzes. The exams are not curved, no matter how badly you do. Majority of people failed the exams. Dr. Frampton is extremely nice but this class is very difficult to pass. If you want to pass, go to the SI sessions and make sure to do good in the lab portion.
Absolutely terrible professor, I'm a marine biology major and so I needed this class for my major. He dumbs down the material for the lectures and then makes the test graduate level difficulty. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I'm barley going to pass with a C.
I have always been an A student and I literally could not pass a test. I went to every class/lab, took TONS of notes, took every ounce of his advice in terms of studying and still could not pass a test. I met with him to discuss what else I could do for my grade and studying and he gave me nothing. I had to withdraw because the class was so awful.
Super nice and can be understanding but he reads straight from the notes and doesn't really explain. The notes and tests are worded completely different, I'm a nursing major so I have to have basically an A in this class and I'm gonna have to retake it to do better.
I have never had a teacher as horrible as Frampton-he foams iykyk. I am not a bad student, I usually do well in all classes. Frampton lectures, but the tests are not the material on the lectures. Studied 10 hours a week and still failed. He doesn't care about his students. Beware of pop quizzes and know that he wont help you at all. DO NOT TAKE
If you need to pass BIO 201 DO NOT take it with Frampton. He does not care about his students in the slightest bit. He doesn't post grades and when I asked what my grade was in his course he told me no. His tests are nothing like what we learn and are written at a graduate level. Whatever you do, don't take Frampton. By far the worst professor ever
Dr Frampton was not as bad as everyone is saying. His tests are hard, but that is expected for a college course. Go to SI session and study and you can get a good grade in the class. He does just read off the PowerPoint, but if I was ever confused I would go to his office hours and he would help explain topics or questions I was confused on.
Dr. Frampton does not care about his students. He acts like he is only there because he has to be. His lectures are elementary level biology concepts but his tests are in depth, application questions that no one is prepared for. Having to consider changing majors because of this professor.
dont agree with ratings of the others.. We are in college...effort has to be put in. He does post test grades on PDFs so you can see your grades if you look. While he did read straight from the slides, the same photos were used in the book with great explanations. Yes, you had to try but it was doable. I put in work to get an A. Not too bad
Frampton is by far the worst professor I have had. He seems as if he would be a great biologist, but the wasn't made to be a teacher. His lectures were very confusing as he would teach as if we had years of background in biology already. Explained complex concepts with more complex concepts. Textbook is the only thing that saved my grade.
If you value your GPA do not take this class. I am a straight A student and barley passed the class. He simply reads off the power points that don't correspond with the exams what so ever and expects everyone to do well. I would say over half the class fails or withdraws.
He is very helpful. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He will help you understand everything, pay attention to the lectures and you will do good on the exam. It's college you have to study, professors won't spoon feed you.
If you value your GPA or your mental health, simply do not take him.
Don't miss his class. He mostly just reads through the slideshow word for word, but he'll add information now and then--write that down and study it because that's going to be what he puts on tests. There are pop quizzes for every unit, so just always review the information before class just in case. He also snorts sometimes which is gross.
Honestly, I disagree with a lot of these ratings, Frampton isn't an issue. Biology is a HARD class. You'll struggle and need to study at least a week before the tests. Your grade is basically composed of pop quizzes, tests, and the lab. The pop quizzes aren't horrible, and they are added together at the end of the semester to replace an exam grade.
Lectures are pointless. He just ready straight off of the powerpoint. But still attend because there are occasional pop quizzes. He is very nice, just not the greatest professor. The exams are very hard but the textbook and videos on pearson are helpful. Just put forth a conscious effort and you could pass.
My tips: study using the textbook and Pearson materials, study at LEAST a week in advance, study every night in case of a pop quiz, review homework questions, + Pearson study center. He gave us two free 100%'s on pop quizzes just for being there so SHOW UP! Biology is hard! Put in the effort and you should pass.
Frampton is very amazing and smart man. Yes his class was difficult but that's what you can expect from a college grade course. He did just read off powerpoints but he tried to explain the best that he could. He gave us free 100's on pop quizzes. I suggest watching the videos on Pearson when studying, they are very helpful and easy to understand
This class can be VERY difficult if you don't study. I do NOT recommend reading the textbook to prepare for an exam. Use the slides he provides. I studied the textbook for 3/4 exams and got a 60, 66, and 66. When I used the slides for studying I got an 84%. Go to class, those pop quizzes are life savers and he uses them to replace an exam grade.
The BIO lab, homework, and pop quiz scores help A LOT if you do poorly on the tests, so do good on those. Lectures are surface level directly from PowerPoint. Frampton is a very intelligent professor so he explains complex topics in simple terms. It is not too hard to pass, you just have to put in the effort and teach yourself the information.
This professor was no help to me throughout the semester. I went to his office hours concerning a poor grade I got on a test and what I could do better and he said "I don't know just do better". The class is essentially only graded on your test scores and he will not boost your grade no matter how nicely you ask.
It's a college level class so you must put in the effort. Very lecture heavy so make sure you attend class. Read the chapters outside of class because the slides he has are general. He does not round grades at all so beware of that. Tests were challenging but make sure you actually put in the effort.
The class is pretty good- it is a large 100+ lecture so it isn't super interesting. There is little homework, just 20 or so questions per month. Lectures are fairly engaging. There are 4-5 tests, worth almost all of the class (about 75 percent), so make sure to study for them.
Tests took forever to study for which was expected but some of the questions didn't have anything to do with the lecture.
Class is strictly long lectures off of power points that have a ton of information. Attendance isnt mandatory but you definitely want to go - he does random pop quizes for a possible exam replacement grade. Tests are very hard because a majority of the points come from free response questions so you really have to know the information.
I was a straight-A student in high school and loved STEM courses. I have never had a worse "teacher". He does not care about his students AT ALL. The exams make up 75% of your grade. I went to every SI session, studied for over 50 hours, and still made 60's. DO NOT TAKE HIM, you will have to withdraw unless you want to fail or are Albert Einstein.
I was a biology major until I took this course now I am hopefully switching majors to psychology. This class is extremely lecture heavy, he talks off power points for an hour and 15 minutes each class and moves very fast. There is barely any homework and no extra assignments. There is also no way to check your overall average for the class.
Dr. Frampton is truly a good guy, but as a professor he is difficult. He talks for and hour straight off of a slide show. Its easy to get lost as he moves very fast and skims over many ideas. There are 4 "midterm" exams and 5 pop quizzes. you need to go to class to get credit for quizzes but together they can cancel out a bad test grade.
Biology is already a information packed course. With any professor, you need to be prepared to study and read the textbook as much as you can. There are 5 pop quizzes throughout the semester that he will sometimes give you full credit for just being there. He will also drop your lowest exam grade if your quizzes add up to be a higher grade.
Dr. Frampton is a good lecturer. But read the textbook! He doesn't include all of the material that will be on the lecture slides, so you will need to read on your own time. This class is study-heavy. I would also recommend using his questions at the end of the lecture to study because the test questions are worded very similarly.
Took the class because I thought the title was interesting. We did a lot of projects. He asks a lot of questions after your presentations so do extra research. Lowkey found him a little weird. Some of the presentations out of the classroom you can skip, just don't skip the honors ones (in Lumina) since they take attendance.
Very sweet professor, but can go by some slides pretty quick so it's important to study and understand the material on your own. Missing a lecture can put you behind by a lot so I would attend every class.
I had Dr.Frampton for my BIO 201 class, he was pretty chill. Theres 5 pop quizzes throughout the semester but hes very generous and most of the time jus gives everyone free points - which is helpful bc quizzes add up to replace your lowest test score. hes always available for office hours + encourages going to SI sessions / he wants us to succeed
Professor Frampton is a great professor, and his lectures are very informative as long as you attend class and pay attention. BIO 201 is a difficult course, you just have to put in the work and study. Attendance is not mandatory, but he does give 5 pop quizzes over the semester that can add up and replace your lowest exam score.
Lectures move VERY quickly. It's probably in your best interest to be both physically and mentally present in lectures. If you don't pay attention by the time the test rolls around you're going to be overwhelmed. All 50 MC exams, not impossible if you really know the processes and theories as opposed to just memorizing. Knowledgable prof for sure.
I took this class this semester after having to withdraw from the class due to work in the fall of 2023. This first exam I took in the fall, I received a 92. On the first exam I took THIS fall, I received a 64. There is material on the exams that are not covered in the lecture. If you can take this class with another professor, I would.
Frampton is not a bad professor but you definitely have to put in a lot of outside work to do well. Attendance isn't mandatory, however, he has 5 pop quizzes that can replace one exam grade so going to lecture is very important. Reading the textbooks will help with the exams.
Frampton is by far the best BIO 201 professor at UNCW. His lectures are a lot but he ensures that his slides give you everything that you need to know. His tests are difficult but they are manageable if you can understand the material.
No assignments, fully test and pop quiz based. Tests are extremely hard.
He just read off the slides and let you teach yourself. Very difficult material, so teaching yourself is not easy whatsoever. I would not recommend taking the class with him.
I did not enjoy this class at all. In lecture, he reads whatever is on the slides and you basically have to teach yourself the information. The PowerPoints were very broad so when it came to the tests, I was genuinely confused. He does not use study guides or homework, and your only grades are tests, quizzes, and the final. :(
He is an amazing professor, incredibly smart, and knows the material very well. I f you go to class and read the textbook you'll be ok. It is challenging, but with SI sessions you'll pass. I wish there were some like homework or papers mixed in with the tests because its just the 4 tests and the final pretty much.
You will not know your grade until the end of the semester. Pop quizzes. He knows what he is talking about but your only grades will be the quizzes and tests. He has given us three free 100 quiz grades.
Dr. Frampton is knowledgeable about the lecture material and will take time to explain anything you don't understand. Class moves quickly, but resources that help you do well are provided. There's no HW, but you should study in advance for pop quizzes. If you put in the work, study as you go, and show up to class, the tests will be easy for you!
Bio 201 is a HARD class with lots of material to cover. Frampton typically just reads off of slide presentations so you have to teach yourself the material outside of class. That being said, SI sessions help SO much as you can take practice exams made from his old tests. He is a really fast grader, so you get your test grades back the same day.
